Borja Iglesias did not enjoy his meeting with Donald Trump on Sunday, July 19th.
The Spanish forward is scheduled to meet the US president after the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. President Trump is expected to be present to present the trophy to the winner of the Spain-Argentina game.
In his interview with Panenka, Iglesias, who is known for being outspoken on many political issues, was asked about his impending meeting with President Trump.
“I don’t want to go to jail,” Iglesias said with a laugh. “I want to greet him at a time when we’re all very happy and I want it to pass quickly and be forgotten.” I don’t think this is the time to cause controversy. People know exactly what I’m thinking. I want to do many things, but even if people think I’m good at it, the reality is that I don’t have the strength to tackle certain things. To be honest, it’s complicated. ”
Iglesias, 33, has played one game for Spain at the World Cup, coming on as a late substitute in La Roja’s win over Portugal in the Round of 16.
After a rather quiet start to the convention, Mr. Trump became heavily involved in the final stages of the convention.
President Trump revealed that he pressured FIFA president Gianni Infantino to overturn the red card suspension for US national team forward Folarin Balogun, and also commented on England’s tactics during their semi-final loss to Argentina.
All eyes will be on Trump after the World Cup final, following last year’s Club World Cup final held at MetLife Stadium. Trump put himself right in the middle of Chelsea’s celebrations after winning the title, leading some players to wonder aloud why he had not left the stage.
