President Donald Trump is scheduled to participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on May 25 as part of the annual Memorial Day celebration.
The National Armed Forces Full Wreath of Honor Ceremony is scheduled to begin at noon on Monday, May 25, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, according to the Joint Task Force of the U.S. Army Military District of Capital Region and Washington.
Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth, and Task Force Commander Maj. Gen. Antoinette Gantt will also participate in the ceremony.
The ceremony will be followed by a National War Memorial Ceremony at the Memorial Amphitheater, where the president and vice president are scheduled to speak, the task force said. Both events are scheduled to be streamed live.
On May 21, members of the U.S. Army’s Old Guard participated in the annual “Flag-In” event, placing approximately 250,000 flags on headstones throughout national cemeteries. This tradition has been held annually since 1948, when the U.S. 3rd Infantry Regiment was designated the Army’s official ceremonial unit.
All available soldiers of the Old Guard will participate.
