Inky skies and an apocalyptic orange haze have returned to the United States and Canada as toxic smoke from out-of-control wildfires has created dangerous conditions for millions of people.
As of July 15, Toronto’s air pollution was worse than anywhere else in the world, including Kinshasa and Delhi, according to Swiss air quality technology company IQAir. New York was fifth. Nearly 900 fires remain active across North America. Approximately 6 million acres have been set on fire since January. And it continues to get worse.
