John Cena, Kevin Hart, Will Ferrell reunite in movie
From Will Ferrell to Kevin Hart, John Cena has named comedians he’d like to work with again and roles he’d reprise.
When John Cena started losing his eyesight, he thought it was just a sign of aging. However, my vision became increasingly blurry, and the itching, redness, and crusts in my eyes continued to build up.
The 17-time WWE World Champion began noticing that while reading, he had to read a page two or three times to even see the words, which became a last-ditch effort to get him scheduled for an eye test. There, Cena spoke with doctors about wrestling, acting, and a surprising third topic: eye mites.
Eye mites, formerly known as Demodex mites, are small parasites that live in the hair follicles and small glands on the face, especially around the eyes. While the thought of tiny bugs disturbing your eyelashes seems pretty scary, the reality is not so surprising.
Almost everyone has eye mites, and eye mites play a healthy role in regulating our body’s microbiome. However, if too many of these tiny critters are left untreated, they can cause inflammation, irritation, and even serious eye conditions.
Cena was diagnosed with a condition called Demodex blepharitis, an inflammatory condition of the eyelids caused by an excess of eye mites. He is partnering with biopharmaceutical company Tarsus to promote XDEMVY, a prescription eye drop that targets and kills eye mites.
As Cena approaches her big birthday, she’s thinking more and more about aging healthily. He has already spent half his life focusing on physical fitness and nutrition. I started lifting weights at 12 and got my first protein powder at 14.
Next year he will turn 50 years old. The past decade has seen her face many challenges, from facing a “grim” skin cancer diagnosis to having a colonoscopy and having two polyps removed at age 45 (“45 is the new 50,” she says).
“I’ve always been an advocate of taking care of your health,” he says. “I realize now that there are more dimensions to it.”
John Cena ‘I thought there was no way out’ after a series of health issues
While Cena says he had a mite in his eye early on, he says he should have gotten an eye exam years earlier. It was a nostalgic feeling he experienced after his skincare diagnosis. He regrets not taking action sooner, such as using SPF more regularly or spending less time in tanning beds.
“For work, I wanted to look tanned because it makes me look healthier and inherently better,” he says. As for blurred vision, he dismissed it as a downside of aging.
He wishes he knew then what he knows now, but instead he continues to talk about his experiences like ear mites and hopes to help anyone who will listen. Because to him, these health concerns once felt like they would last forever.
“For the past 10 years, I’ve had one windfall after another, and I thought there was nothing I could do about it,” he says. “But you don’t have to just say, ‘That’s right.'”
But he takes a solutions-based approach to health care. Do you have a bad back? Localize the problem. Perform flexibility exercises to loosen stiff muscles. Are you upset about hair loss? Like Cena said, get a hair transplant. Blurred vision? Talk to a medical professional who can help you live a better life.
“I’m not embarrassed by the results. I feel much better now that I’ve been tested,” he explains. “My eyes are looking better. My skin is also looking better.”
“I avoided colon cancer by having a colonoscopy. I thought there was no cure for baldness, but there is. All of this has given me great results.”
