US stock futures have been largely unchanged as investors await more revenue reports.

The Broad S&P 500 and Tech Heavy Nasdaq scored record highs to start the week amid solid revenue reports from Domino’s pizza, Cleveland-Cliffs and Verizon.

Of the over 60 S&P 500 companies reported, more than 85% of the topping analyst estimates reported, according to FactSet data. According to LSEG I/B/E/s, analysts expected on average S&P 500 companies to report a 6.7% increase in second quarter revenue.

Philip Morris International, Coca-Cola and Lockheed Martin are among those who are planning to report before the market opens. However, if Tesla and the Alphabet report results, the main event is mid-week. Investors are keen to analyse revenue reports for signs of how President Donald Trump’s tariffs have hit the economy and corporate spending.

At 6am ET, futures linked to the Blue Chip Dow were at 0%, while S&P 500 futures slipped at -0.11%, while Nasdaq futures fell by -0.27%.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will also speak at a meeting in Washington, D.C. as the stock market opens.

According to the White House, “floods” of ice agents are coming to Democrat-run cities

White House border emperor Tom Homan said Americans living in so-called “sanctuary cities” could soon be expected to see far more immigrant agents on the streets. Earlier this month, Congress gave the Trump administration more than $170 billion over the next four years, dramatically expanding enforcement, detention and deportation. The federal spending plan funds 10,000 new immigrants and customs enforcement agents, among other things, to implement Trump’s plan to deport one million people each year. Immigration advocates have criticized the expansion of large-scale funding that has not undergone radical reforms to the country’s immigration process.

“Maize sweat” will be added to punishing heat, humidity in the Midwest this week.

Summers are high in the Midwest, and corn is “sweaty.” It is a healthy process for plants, but increasing humidity levels can exacerbate the suffocating heat in humans. In a process called evapotranspiration, plants release water vapor into the atmosphere. The released water is combined with other water molecules to humidify the air. Differences occur in plains and Midwest regions with millions of acres of corn and soybean crops, pumping billions of gallons of water into the atmosphere of some states. Excess water can add 5-10 degrees to the dew point, a measure of air humidity on a hot summer day. “Maize Sweat” exacerbates heat domes set to push extreme temperatures this week in most of the United States.

Colbert v. Trump: Who gets the final laugh?

Stephen Colbert has several choice words on Monday for President Trump. On his first showback-on-air since the announcement that “Late Show” would be cancelled in May 2026, Colbert prepared a short comeback for the president. His words came after Trump expressed in his Truth Social Post on July 18th that he “absolutely loves Colbert being fired.”

  • “What a dare, teacher? Could a proud man make the next satirical wit? The three-word message was captured via a “elder cam” zoomed into the host’s face.
  • John Oliver, Andy Cohen and Jamie Lee Curtis also place emphasis on Colbert’s exit.
  • Amidst the turbulent late at night, “Daily Show” has acquired a new host.

Heat the dome to feel 100 degrees (or more) and 100 million people

0

play

  • Many cities that have never seen actual 100 degrees before this summer will reach the mark again this week.
  • The Northeast has a short reprieve before the heavy heat and humidity rolls later in the week.

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Heat Dome, which expands to most of the Midwest and South, envelops more than 100 million Americans with temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius almost every day this week, predictors say.

About 200 million people will experience triple-digit “Realfeel” temperatures on Friday alone, according to Accuweather. On the beginning of July 22, the National Weather Service issued extreme heat warnings, watches and recommendations on the country’s belt, affecting more than 70 million Americans.

Accuweather warns that many cities that have never seen actual 100-degree temperatures before this summer will reach this week’s mark. In many areas from Nebraska and Missouri to Texas and Louisiana, nightly temperatures don’t even drop in the mid-’70s or below the ’80s.

“Kansas City, Missouri, has not reached 100 degrees since August 25, 2023, but we are now doing that on multiple days during the upcoming Heat Dome,” said Chad Merrill, senior meteorologist at Accuweather.

This Washington, D.C. suburban residents saw temperatures wafting in the ’60s with little humidity, which meant most of the east was exempt from the Heat Dome on July 22nd. The high on July 22nd was predicted to reach only the mid-80s. However, the rest won’t last – by Friday the humidity will return with forecasts of near 100 degrees.

What is a Heat Dome?

According to ClimaTecheck.com, heat domes are not actually a scientific term. The term says it effectively describes a “oppressive” high-pressure atmospheric system that pushes warm air into the surface of the earth and traps it there for a long period of time.

“The dome locks high-pressure air in one place, like a pot lid,” the website says. “These large zones of heat create a combination of fierce temperatures, catastrophic wildfires and drought conditions.”

How long does the Heat Dome last?

Jonathan Erdman, senior meteorologist at Weather.com, writes that the heat wave could continue until the Plains and South slowly expands westward towards the Rockies at Plains and South at least for the final weekend of July.

“Our long distance outlook suggests that the Northeast is most likely to see some heat relief in the end last weekend in July,” Erdman said.

The heat is no joke, this year. As the country’s massive strips continue to fight in extreme heat, it’s important to know how to keep you and your loved ones safe this summer. Common signs and symptoms of fever stroke include headache, temperature, confusion, changes in mental state, slurs sweating or severe sweating, nausea and vomiting, seizures, loss of consciousness, skin cleansing, rapid breathing, and lace heart rate.

According to a report by the National Weather Service, Heat killed more Americans in 2024 than other major weather events, including floods and tornadoes. As temperatures increase, so does the risk of heat-related dangers and injuries. This occurs when the body is exposed to extreme heat or high humidity for a long period of time. Either way, the outcome can be fatal. Click here for details.

Corn sweat adds to the heat and humidity of the Midwest

Summers are high in the Midwest, and corn is “sweaty.” Known as evapotranspiration, it is a healthy plant process that can exacerbate the suffocating heat in humans by increasing humidity levels. The process is how plants release water vapor into the atmosphere. The released water binds to other water molecules and humidifies the air.

Differences occur in plains and Midwest regions with millions of acres of corn and soybean crops. In Iowa, corn is pumping “a staggering 4.9 to 56 billion gallons of water into the atmosphere” statewide, the National Weather Service said. On hot summer days, you can add 5-10 degrees to the dew point, a measure of air humidity. Click here for details.

What to do if a job complaint elicits retaliation

Johnny C. Taylor Jr. is working on your HR questions as part of the USA Today series. Taylor is the world’s largest HR professional society and the president and CEO of the Human Resources Management Association, author of “Reset: A Guide to Leaders to Work in an Era of Trending Times.”

Do you have a question? Please send it here.

Question: What should I do if the company’s leadership retaliates against me and my team every time I raise concerns or complaints from staff? – Demetoria

Answer: It is extremely discouraged that leadership is in a situation where you and your team will retaliate against you and your team to express your concerns and complaints. When leadership chooses retaliation over reflection, it not only suppresses open communication, but also damages the trust and morale of the entire organization. However, it is not that there are no options. Here is a structured approach that you can take to address this issue:

  1. Document your experience: Start by meticulously documenting all instances of retaliation. Include all relevant details, including dates, times, actions, parties, and changes that have been changed in response to complaints. This document is invaluable if you need to escalate the issue.
  2. Engage compliance or HR. If your company has a compliance team, request a meeting with them. If not, contact the HR department. Provides documented information professionally and factually, and copies to support the case.
  3. Report anonymously. If you have any discomfort that directly addresses the issue, consider using an anonymous ethics hotline. This will help raise concerns without fear of direct impact.
  4. I’ll ask for support. If you are in a leadership position, show your team that you are supporting them by acknowledging their courage and taking steps to address their concerns. If you are not in a leadership role, identify a trusted leader who can advocate for you.
  5. Know your legal rights. Don’t forget that you have legal protection too. Retaliation for legitimate complaints is illegal under federal and state laws, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Consulting with a legal counsel can provide guidance on how to proceed if internal measures fail.

Ultimately, healthy organizations thrive with feedback and protect those who speak up. Your actions can promote an environment of integrity, accountability and respect. Remember, stand up for the right thing, and even if it feels challenging, it’s important. You are not only advocating for yourself, but advocating for a culture of openness and trust.

One of my colleagues recently ended due to concerns about cultural fit within our company. He had strong skills and intelligence, but he was not always the easiest to work with. Is cultural fit considered more important than technical competence or job performance? – David

More and more, employers are looking for workers to check both boxes: insight and fit. They want people who can work and can work well in the context of their own work environment. Cultural fit is an important factor that many employers consider in addition to their technical competence and job performance. Owning strong skills and intelligence is extremely important, but the ability to work harmoniously within the corporate culture is equally essential.

Workplace culture is not just about how work is done, but how it is done. It includes a variety of factors, including work performance, personality, work style, and work ethics. These factors affect collaboration, morale, and overall productivity. Therefore, many employers prioritize cultural integrity during the recruitment process and during employee tenure.

The employment doctrines applied in most states allow employers to terminate employment on non-discriminatory reasons, including cultural inconsistencies. This legal framework reflects the importance imposed on having an appropriate cultural fit. Culture influences how well an individual works with others, which affects the performance of the team and the success of the company.

Ultimately, technical skills and job performance are essential, but cultural fit has a major impact on long-term success within the organization. Both employers and employees benefit from harmonious cultural integrity, and flexibility on both sides is required to ensure a mutually supportive and productive work environment. Each party should strive to understand and adapt each other’s cultural aspects to achieve the best possible fit.

Prince George’s photo was released on his 12th birthday

CNN

A new photo of Prince George has been released from Kensington Palace to mark Young Royal’s 12th birthday.

On his final birthday before smashing the teenager, George can appear happy and relaxed with new images released on the palace’s official social media channels on Tuesday.

George can be seen posing at a wooden gate in a country-like environment, wearing a white checkered shirt and brown fleece gillette, and a friendship bracelet on his left wrist.

“Happy 12th birthday to Prince George!” Read the caption for X, followed by a birthday cake emoji.

The Prince and Princess of Wales also shared a short video montage of all three children, marking the opportunity. A clip posted on Instagram shows the kids laughing when they play outside. At one point, George and Charlotte are seen carrying their younger brother.

George’s birthday celebration comes more than a week after the prince and his 10-year-old sister Princess Charlotte are lined up on the throne, appearing in the men’s final at Wimbledon and accompanying his parents.

Their younger brother, Prince Louis, had not seen Italian Giannique Sinner defeat Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz from the royal box on the world-famous tennis grounds in south London.

For Prince and Princess Wales, marking children’s birthdays by sharing new images has become a tradition.

Many of the past portraits have been taken by avid amateur photographer Kate, who credits the British photographer Josh Sinner.

Other professional photographers whose family images were previously released include Mario Testino, Chris Jackson and Millie Pilkington.

Within each area of Carnival’s Bahamas destination

0

play

  • Celebration Key, a new private destination for Carnival Cruise Lines in the Grand Bahama, has five different areas.
  • Guests can choose from a variety of dining options and additional experiences such as cabana rentals and coastal excursions.
  • Celebration Key offers both free and paid activities, with additional costs of amenities like the exclusive Pearl Cove Beach Club.

When I arrived at the beach I found a huge sandcastle waiting for me. The carnival cruise line did not have a sand mold. When the water slides that came out from above appeared, it was even more.

The 10-storey Suncastle – technically made of something sturdy than sand – is the epic eyeball of Celebration Key, the new exclusive destination of the Grand Bahama line. The castle, decorated with conch and golden sun, sets the tone of a magnificent beach day.

This structure also lays out above Paradise Plaza, one of five different regions or “portals.”

“There’s something really for everyone,” Carnival President Christine Duffy told USA Today’s Carnival Vista ahead of the grand opening of Celebration Key. Here’s how each portal differs:

Paradise Plaza

Partially covered passageways, welcome features on a near 90 degree day in late July, connect the jetty docked by carnival ships to the celebration key. Guests enter Paradise Plaza and pass through a sun-shaped arch.

The area features Sun Castle’s Pink Flash Flamingo and Blue Mach High III Merlin Racing Water Slide, with unlimited access for $14.99 and includes Cabana and Superya reservations. Guests can also chill with ice cream at Yumshine Scoops. Visit the Shore Excursions and Guest Services Desk to book and get information. Then find a wheelchair on the beach (first cam, first service).

The Plaza also offers access to other portals via walking paths and nearby tram stops.

Starde Lagoon

The Stardew Lagoon is designed with families in mind, built around what families bill as one of the two largest freshwater lagoons in the Caribbean. Guests can swim there. Sunbathing on the lounger; or grab burgers, pizza, tacos and more at the open air captain’s galley food hall.

Other dining options include Gill’s Grill, serving Caribbean seafood along with other dishes, and starfish food truck (mini donut king guava cheesecake donuts). Parents and children alike can enjoy tropical drinks such as frozen cocktails and mocktails from the parrot swim-up bar.

For sporty sets, basketball – on the on-site court – table tennis and other games are located in Starde Lagoon (another area, sports that also offer Calypso Lagoon). Water-based excursions also depart from the pier from the starfish beach.

18

As a destination retail hub, guests can purchase handmade Bahamian products and other items, from wood carvings to jewelry and tax-free products. Suncastle Grounds Coffee also has a great deal of ice drinks or hot drinks at its prices and perch locations.

Land coastal excursions depart from Locono Cove, where guests can find taxis and car rentals to other parts of the Grand Bahama.

Calypso Lagoon

Calypso Lagoon is the adult answer to Starde Lagoon. The Sunshine Swings Bar has a seating swing and guests can float in the adult-only Calypso Lagoon Swim-up Bar (guests must be at least 18 to enjoy the western part of Calypso Lagoon). That part of the Celebration Key felt like a party during my visit thanks to the underwater DJ island.

Mingo’s Tropical Bar & Kitchen offers covered seating and offers a wide range of options, from conch to chicken wings and sandwiches. Pro Tip: Try Key Lime Pie.

For other casual meals, visitors can head to Surfun Sauce BBQ & Brews (Bahama craft beer on the menu) or Calypso Food Truck. Calypso Beach is also a short walk away.

Pearl Cove Beach Club

Located on the western edge of Celebration Key, Pearl Cove offers an exclusive experience at an additional cost. The area features its own beach stretch, an 11,000 square foot infinity pool, private restaurants and bars, all with main views of the pier. There are three tiers to pricing.

  • Pearl Cove Beach Club Access includes portal access and welcome drinks for $99.99 per guest
  • Pearl Cove Beach Club Open Bar includes up to 10 drinks for $139.99 per guest
  • Pearl Cove Beach Club All Inclusive includes an open bar park where you can dine in the restaurant for $179.99 per guest

How much is the key for the celebration?

In addition to water slides and beach clubs, guests can pay extra to customize their experience in other ways, such as choosing from a variety of daybeds, cabanas and Super La Rentals, if they want to be more comfortable, but there are plenty of open spaces.

The Destination’s Island Eats program allows each guest to get a free meal at the first casual venue (many come with sides and cookies), or receive a 25% discount on appetizers at a full-service restaurant. Children who have not redeemed island food can also order from their children’s menu at the full-service restaurant. Visitors can purchase other foods for an additional fee.

Not all venues will be participating in Island Eats, but I noticed that people who went on the menu during their visit were presented with free options.

The onboard drink package doesn’t extend to Celebration Key, but that’s the onboard internet plan.

Shore excursions from dolphin encounters to jeep tours also cost an additional cost, with kayaks, snorkel gear and rental lockers. Travelers can view add-ons and prices on the Carnival website.

Duffy pointed out that this month’s opening is merely a phase one. Celebration Key now has two berths, with the cruise line previously saying it will add two more by 2026.

The destination is based on the long-standing portfolio of parent Carnival Corp., a portfolio of land sales, founded in 1992, one of the Bahamas destinations.

“Daily Show” new host Josh Johnson comes in late night turmoil

0

play

From the World News Headquarters at Comedy Central in New York, it’s…wait, who is Josh Johnson?

The award-winning news comedy show has driven John Stewart to fame and has added a new spinning host to its lineup, watching him return as an anchor for the week in 2024.

Johnson, a show writer since 2017 and on-screen presence since 2024, has pinned the July 22nd show (11pm ET/PT at Comedy Central) and will be his first turn as a host this week. He will be taking part in a spinning cast of anchors who helped lead the program into a new format after host Trevor Noah (Stewart’s first alternative) left the desk in 2022.

Other Achaiers include Renee Chieg, Jordan Happer, Michael Costa and Desi Riddick.

Who is Josh Johnson?

A fresh face with healthy social media following, Johnson represents a new wave of comedians who gain fans beyond traditional stand-up gigs and performances on late-night circuits, adding internet fame to the mix.

He enters the hosting circuit during a fresh, dangerous time of late night programming, with the cancellation of “Late Show with Late Show,” which shares parent company Paramount with the “Daily Show.”

Former “Daily Show” comic and Stewart apprentice Colbert will not only place his position during last week’s episode, but also the entire CBS late-night show. The company said the decision, which it said in its statement, is “purely financial,” but some in the industry have questioned the claims and instead argued that it was the result of political transport.

Paramount is seeking FCC approval for the proposed $8.4 billion merger with SkyDance Media.

A few days before the “late show” sunset, Colbert criticized Paramount for resolving President Donald Trump’s honour-damaged lawsuit, calling for a $16 million donation to Trump’s future presidential library “a big fat bribe” to his administration that would help him get Merger’s FCC approval.

It remains to be seen whether Colbert’s cancellation will reach Comedy Central across channels. “The Daily Show” deals with a slightly different, more politically unstable audience, and “Late Show” was once known for its more entertainment-focused tone.. Colbert brought about a sharp tone that was politically critical.

But before Colbert’s cancellation was announced, Stewart said his Spidey sense had been activated.

On a July 17 episode of his podcast, the comedian said he is unsure about the future of “The Daily Show,” but knows that he “brings value.”

“They didn’t call me and said, ‘Don’t be too comfortable in that office, Stewart.’ But I was kicked out of the facility “worst” than that,” he continues.

“There’s no “The Daily Show” and it’s like Muzak, like Comedy Central at this point,” he said. “I think we are the only life that exists on our current base other than ‘South Park’. If they see it purely as a real estate transaction, I think we will bring a lot of value. ”

Hosam Saraya: American citizens among eight Druze families executed for Syrian sectarian violence

0

CNN

The Oklahoma Americans were among eight men who were killed and killed by execution-style attacks during the sectarian violence that erupted in Syria last week.

Hosam Saraya, a 35-year-old Syrian-American, was identified by his friend Bahaa Imad and a US relative as one of eight men whose murder was captured in a video circulating on social media over the weekend.

The video, immersed in the earth by CNN, shows a group of armed men in military uniforms and face masks firing at eight prisoners, screaming “God is amazing.”

CNN cannot independently verify the identification of gunmans in the video. We have contacted the Syrian government for comment.

According to a US relative, Saraya’s brother Kareem and other family members were also executed. She spoke directly to her Syrian relatives. Syria said all male members of the family were killed.

The murder occurred on July 17 amid outbreaks of sectarian violence between the Syrian Druze Group and the Bedouin tribes of Druze Majoritisweida.

Salaya, who studied in Oklahoma before returning to Syria, belonged to the Druze community, an Arab religious group of around 1 million people living primarily in Syria, Lebanon and Israel. He had gone to Syria to care for his sick father, a US relative said.

A relative said the family of the woman who survived the massacre recalled the militants attacked the family’s multi-storey home early in the morning, urging residents to fight back in defense.

After one of the family was injured, the rest of the men surrendered their weapons, she said, and the man was taken outside.

Bahaa Imad, a 20-year-old friend of the Saraya family, confirmed these details and said he witnessed extremists attacking the house, forcing eight men to be removed and leaving the woman’s family inside.

A US relative was first to learn of the attack when one of the female survivors sent her a desperate message.

The family was desperately waiting for the news, so 12 hours had passed and they hoped their relatives would return safely. It wasn’t until they watched the circular video of their execution that another overseas relative realized that eight men had been killed.

Imad said that relatives later told him that prisoners of war had marched to the 200-meter Tishreen Square where they were lined up and executed there. One of the men sent a final message to a friend who read, “If possible, they would come and help. They were surrounding us.”

Imad identified Hosam Saraya’s body after watching the video.

“I don’t know how a monster can do that,” a US relative told CNN.

Asked about Saraya, the US Department of State confirmed that a US citizen had died in Sweida on Monday.

It did not provide details about death, but said that “I am very concerned when American citizens are harming abroad wherever they are,” and that it was called “for accountability in all cases where American citizens do harm abroad.”

Oklahoma Senators James Lankford and Mark Wayne Mullin also confirmed the murder of Americans from Syrian states.

“Hosam was an Oklahoman and a member of the Druze community, tragically executed along with other members of his family in Syria,” Lankford wrote about the X.

Mullin wrote in X that “American citizens of Oklahoma” were “brutally executed alongside Syrian families,” adding that he was working with local partners to learn more. His tweets did not name the Saraya family.

The widespread violence between the Druze minorities and Bedouins in southern Syria exploded on July 13, killing hundreds of people in the latest explosion of sectarian blood blood as Bashar al-Assad’s authoritative rule was collapsed by a coalition of Islamist rebels.

The violence sparked Israeli intervention to support the Druze, attracting international scrambles to stop the US denunciation and the swirl of combat.

The Syrian government said clashes in Sweida have halted after a ceasefire agreement was reached between the government, the Druze group and the Bedouins over the weekend.

Another ceasefire has been agreed between Syria and Israel. The contract was announced by the US Ambassador, Turkish Tom Barrack. Turkey Tom Barrack said it was “accepted” by Türkiye, Jordan and other neighbouring countries.

In-n-out CEO Lynsi Snyder says she’s moving out of California

play

In-N-Out CEO Lynsi Snyder had harsh words to the state where his parents built the Burger Empire.

Appearing on the “related” podcast, Snyder aired a complaint with California, saying that he would be relocating his family to Tennessee with the opening of the company’s second headquarters.

“There are a lot of great things in California,” Snyder said. “But raising a family here isn’t easy. It’s not easy to do business here.”

Snyder was also tired of the state’s implementation of rules surrounding state subsidies. This led to state health officials closing two restaurants in 2021 to not check vaccine status.

“You have to do this,” Snyder said of the vaccine order for indoor dining. “You need to have this plastic thing between us and our customers. It was really awful, do you know? And I look back and we should have pushed that kind of thing even harder. We’re not police our customers.”

Adding Tennessee HQ, but not leaving California

IN-N-OUT has announced that many of California’s corporate employees will be relocating from Irvine, Orange County to their offices at Baldwin Park in the Los Angeles area.

It is set to be completed by the end of 2029, a mile from the first restaurant opened by Harry and Esthersnyder.

The company said after the Irvine offices close, employees at the company will be located either in the Baldwin Park office or in the Tennessee office. The Nashville area office is scheduled to open in 2026, the company said at the time.

Snyder downplays East Coast expansion

Snyder further reduced the possibility of expanding the East Coast, pointing out logistical difficulties.

“We can get to Tennessee from a warehouse in Texas. We have a warehouse, but we don’t do our own meat there, so we can deliver it from Texas,” Snyder said.

The company operates 281 of its 418 locations in California, but has been steadily expanding in recent years. Snyder added that the majority of the company’s stores are in California.

“Florida begged us, but we’re still saying no,” Snyder said. “East Coast states, we’re still saying no.”

USA Today reached out to In-N-Out for comment and did not receive a response as of Monday evening.

Who is winning now, what will happen next?

Russian President Vladimir Putin is stagnating the ceasefire. The White House has changed its mind about sending weapons to Ukraine. Major Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia have caused confusion at airports serving Moscow.

According to the Ukraine’s open source deep state website, Moscow has made Ukraine’s biggest territorial profits since the beginning of this year due to the Russian summer attacks in Ukraine, and Moscow has made Ukraine’s biggest territorial profits since the beginning of this year, and according to estimates from a think tank specializing in military issues and warfare by the Washington, DC think tank.

For the past month, Russian troops have been concentrated in the Smie region of Ukraine, where Russia in the northeastern part of Pokrovsk and Kostiantinibka eastern cities and Zaporizia in the south earned about 200 square miles. It’s a slightly larger area than Atlanta’s size.

Does that mean Russia is winning? not much. It’s not that simple. This is the latest in the Russian war in Ukraine.

Why is Russia taking its place in Ukraine?

According to Ukraine’s estimates and the deep state, Ukraine released about 7% of the territory it occupied before and after the full-scale invasion of Moscow in February 2022. It still leaves about 19% in Russia’s hands. Moscow still controls Crimea, which was annexed in 2014, with about two-thirds of Ukraine’s Donetsk region being a vast, highly industrialized region that is at the heart of the earth’s war.

Russia has long had the advantage in the war in terms of military personnel, but analysts say Moscow is suffering from more casualties, and its equipment losses – vehicles, artillery, tanks – are also at a higher rate than Ukrainian cars. Russia has made progress in recent months, but these profits are relatively slow and small, reaching less than 0.1% of Ukraine’s territory in July, according to manual calculations.

Still, one of the reasons Russia has made progress, according to the War Institute, is that Russia has significantly increased its drone attacks and missiles and shell use in Ukraine. These grew at an average monthly average of 31% in June and July. Russia uses drones to secure Ukrainian troops.

No, yes, more American weapons for Ukraine. why?

President Donald Trump began his second term with the promise to end the war in Ukraine in the first 24 hours. He quickly stopped the flow of military aid to Kiev and temporarily stopped sharing intelligence. He also took responsibility for the war in Ukraine and gave President Volodymia Zelensky a public dress in his oval office when he tried to push back the allegations and counter Trump saying that Putin wasn’t a reliable negotiator.

Since then, leaders have revised their stance and welcomed more nuances in their discussions.

The war is still raging. It appeared that Trump was changing his songs in Ukraine and Putin as Russian leaders advanced with drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities and repeatedly refused Trump’s attempts to mediate a ceasefire. In early July, Trump said he would resume shipping forces to Ukraine. He also announced a new arrangement with NATO. This sees the military alliance relocate advanced US-made air defense systems to Kyiv.

He also changed his attitude about Russian leaders.

“He’s always been very kind to us,” Trump said on July 9th. “But it turned out to be pointless.”

How about diplomacy?

No two-round Trump-brokered ceasefire talks between Ukraine and Russia came. With Putin’s relationship with Trump becoming sour, a wide coalition of US lawmakers line up, ready to put new offensive sanctions on Russia. Trump is also threatening “severe” economic punishment against Moscow if he does not commit to a ceasefire by early September. The Kremlin dismissed this as a “bluster.”

The Russian government suggests that Trump and Putin will be able to meet in Beijing in September, when Russian leaders are there towards the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Moscow said it had not heard whether Trump was planning to attend.

The White House has not commented.

But for now, there is no doubt that Moscow is in the back geopolitical and perhaps even military.

Zelenskyy and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced on Kyiv a series of manufacturing businesses with French companies beginning drone production in Ukraine on July 21st. Overnight, Russia unveiled its latest barrage of drones and missiles in Kiev. However, Ukraine is also fighting back in ways that Moscow is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. Videos published by Russian media showed people sleeping on the floor of Sheremetyevo, Russia’s busiest airport, after Ukraine attacked with drones.

Alexander Skarsgard retired from acting after playing the role of a teenage dictionary

Alexander Skarsgard revealed that he has ousted his first taste of fame as a Swedish teenage television star from his acting for years.

The “True Blood” alumni (48) opened on the July 21st episode of the “Incredible Self-Consciousness” episode of the “Dax Shepard” podcast after his breakout role in the 1989 Swedish film “Hunden Som Log”.

“It was rough. I didn’t like being recognized. I didn’t like going to school or kids like, ‘I saw a movie!”, Skarsgård told Shepard and Cohost Monica Padman. “My confidence was in the drain.”

He continued: “I said, ‘This is terrible, and I did one 50-minute TV movie. I don’t want to keep doing this.”

It was almost the end of his acting career. It has since been seen Skarsgard win an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

“I retired and threw a towel at 1pm,” he added.

Alexander Skarsgard on his first role: “The Classic Case of Nepotism”

Skarsgård first acted as a seven-year-old in 1984’s “Ake and His World.” This happened because of a “classic case of nepotism,” he admitted on the podcast, explaining that his father’s friend, late actor and director Alan Edwal, had offered him a gig.

Skarsgård’s father is Stellan Skarsgård. “Good Will Hunting”, “Mamma Mia!” and “Dune” fame – and three of his seven young brothers – brothers Gustav, Bill and Balter’s Skarsgard – are also actors.

“Even if my father was an actor, my younger brother, he was adamant about ‘I’m going to be an actor’ from when he was like five or six. And I wasn’t,” Skarsgard said on the podcast. “I did some weird jobs here and there, but I wasn’t pursuing that.”

“It wasn’t a difficult decision,” he explained that he would be quitting acting as a teenager. “I said, ‘I don’t want to be an actor. I just want to drive a serve, so I just stopped doing that.”

He went in the opposite direction from his “Bohemian” parents and eventually enlisted in the Swedish Navy.

“In my teenage years (I) declared that I would not chase my father and become an actor,” Skarsgård said. He said at the time, “What do you know? I’m going to leave and go out on my own on an archipelago island far from all Skarsgard.”

He continued later: “You don’t need to join the army for a year and a half to become independent. I would not recommend it.”

“Zoolander” has brought Alexander Skarsgård back to acting

Skarsgård briefly went to Marymount Manhattan College in New York City before returning to Stockholm where he did “strange work” as a coffee shop, clothing store and a bus boy. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he booked several Swedish TV shows and movies.

He found his way to Hollywood when another opportunity landed on his lap, courtesy of his famous father.

His father’s manager sent him to an audition for “Zoolander,” Skarsgård said. “And I booked that baby.”

“I just thought, ‘Yeah, this is how Hollywood works. You step into the room, Ben Stiller is sitting there, and you are!” he joked.

Americans reluctant to sell their homes in 2025. Here’s why:

0

Americans are increasingly cautious about selling their homes in 2025 compared to the past few years.

According to Bankrate, more than half of our homeowners have said it’s uncomfortable to sell their homes this year, no matter what the mortgage rate or mortgage rate.

Homeowners with low interest rate mortgages may be reluctant to sell their homes because they have to abandon the low interest rates. This is known as the “lock-in” phenomenon, according to reports.

“The mortgage rate was not below 6% in nearly three years, so buyers and sellers reluctantly adjusted to a higher price,” said Greg McBride, Bankrate’s chief financial analyst.

Current homeowners are not looking for a purchase. Why is it not good?

Almost 40% of homeowners say that mortgage interest rates need to fall below 6% to buy a home comfortably this year, the survey found.

“Many buyers are lowering mortgage rates, but what constitutes “lower” is evolving. Many of them pinning to go back to 3% or 4% will probably jump to joy if the interest rate goes to 5,” McBride said in a statement.

“There aren’t many homeowners who buy or refinance at a sub-5% rate before 2022, so there’s not much appetite or incentive to refinance at the relatively high rates today,” McBride added.

What is the current mortgage rate?

For the week ending July 17th, 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.75%, Freddie Mac announced. This is close to a fixed interest rate that has been around for a year. These figures do not include fees or points, and prices in some parts of the country may be higher or lower than the national average.

Tesla resolves legal battle with car dealers in Louisiana

0

play

Tesla TSLA.O resolved lawsuits against Louisiana and various car dealers and trade groups on Monday, and CEO Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company challenged the state’s ban on direct vehicle sales to consumers since 2017.

Tesla’s claims have been “completely and ultimately resolved,” claiming that state officials were simply at work and did not violate criminal law, according to a filing motion filed in New Orleans federal court.

Tesla sued members of the Louisiana Automobile Commission, individual commissioner-owned dealers and the Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association in August 2022.

It denounced motorist commissioners associated with rival dealers for leveraging committee management by targeting sales models that do not use a network of franchise dealers as “existential threats.”

The lawsuit also challenged Teslas’ lease and services restrictions in Louisiana.

The defendant’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Tesla and its lawyers did not immediately respond to similar requests.

In August 2024, the federal court of appeals in New Orleans revived Tesla’s constitutional due-process claims and put aside the termination of anti-trust claim judges, citing possible bias against the Austin, Texas-based automaker.

Last month, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear appeals from 18 motor vehicle commissioners of that decision.

This case was conducted by the Eastern District of Louisiana, the United States District Court, the Louisiana Automobile Dealer Association, etc. v. Louisiana area, No. This is 22-02982.

Second death confirmed by authorities

Authorities say search and rescue operations entered the third day on July 21, making him the second confirmed death in a fatal waterfall accident in central Oregon.

The diver with a Deschute County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue team found and recovered the body of the second victim shortly after 11am local time on July 21, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. The agency reported that the victim was found under Dillon Falls on the Deschutes River.

The accident occurred when a group of six swept Dillon Falls, a rapid on the Deschutes River about 10 miles southwest of Bend. The Sheriff’s Office said it had immediately started search and rescue operations after receiving the incident report around 2:57pm local time.

According to the sheriff’s office, one person died at the scene, while the other three were rescued from the river and taken to a hospital in Bend by ambulance. On July 21, the sheriff’s office confirmed that the two killed in the incident were women and the person who remained missing was a man.

“The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office expresses the deepest sadness of the affected families and is committed to using up all possibilities in the ongoing search efforts,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The Sheriff’s Office has not announced the identities of those involved in the accident and is noting that an investigation is underway. Other law enforcement agencies also support search and rescue operations, including Bend Police, Bend Fires and Rescue, and Airlink Critical Care Transport, which provides emergency aviation medical transport.

Search and Rescue crews used boats, drones, Swift Water Rescue teams and K-9 units to search, map, refine, refine and refine locations of high-enhanced potential along the river corridor between Dillon Falls Day usage areas and Aspend Day usage areas above the waterfall, according to Sheriff’s office.

Dillon Falls is known for being a powerful and dangerous rapid

Dillon Falls, located within the Deschutes National Forest, is a series of “quick drop rapids” along the Deschutes River, according to the Central Oregon Tourist Information Center. The 15-foot waterfall is known for being a dangerous Class V Rapid, reported Salem Statesman Journal, part of the USA Today Network.

According to Nishikawa’s expedition, the river is rated on a “class scale” and determines the size and speciality of the whitewater.

“(Class V Rapids) have a very difficult route, long, very violent torrents and very crowded. This requires reconnaissance from the coast.” “Rescue conditions are difficult and there is a great risk in the event of an accident. Class V is the limit of what is possible with a commercial raft.”

According to the US Department of Agriculture, Dillon Falls Day’s area is a popular destination for outdoor recreation, including hiking, water activities, picnics and watching waterfalls. The waterfall was also a place of other tragedy of the past few years.

In 2022, a 41-year-old man died while floating above Dillon, reported the Salem Staten Journal. At the time, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of a 911 call saying, “The man in the tube passed the waterfall 30-35 minutes before the call, and bystanders were unable to find the man.”

In 2018, Bend’s blind athlete and his father lost control of his canoe in the waters above Dillon Falls, resulting in his father’s death, Bend News reported.

Bend is approximately 132 miles southeast of Salem, the capital of Oregon.

Venezuela says it will investigate Salvadoran officials on alleged abuse of CECOT detainees deported from the US

CNN

Venezuela says it has launched a formal investigation into several Salvadoran officials, including President Naive Buquere, on alleged abuse of Venezuelan immigrants deported from the United States.

In exchange for 10 US citizens and dozens of Venezuelan political prisoners, around 252 Venezuelans who were incarcerated in the infamous CECOT prison in March were released on Friday and returned to their home countries, U.S. officials said.

Venezuela previously accused El Salvador of luring detainees after detaining them. El Salvador claimed that the detainees had connections with Venezuelan gangster Tren de Aragua, but immigration lawyers, supporters and families pushed it back, and in many cases the detainees had no criminal history.

Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab held a press conference Monday to show compiled footage of detainees dealing with alleged abuse and talking about their prison experiences. Saab said the authorities have collected 123 complaints of abuse, including reports of sexual assault, torture and assault by Salvador prison guards.

In one of the videos, the man says he was sexually abused.

In another, several detainees claiming they were beaten and shot with pellets and pepper spray, showing visible bruises and scars throughout their bodies.

CNN cannot independently verify the extent of the injury, when maintained, or whether a man is speaking under obsessive compulsion. It reached out to President Salvador for comment.

In the past, the Bukere regime has respected the human rights of people detained “without discrimination of nationality,” and said that its prison system meets standards of security and order.

Venezuela is facing accusations of prison abuse, but its government argues it respects the rights of prisoners.

The released immigrants have not yet reunited with their Venezuelan families. Officials say they have undergone health, immigration and criminal history checks, among other procedures. This is a daily process for developers returning to the country.

The two relatives of the former appellant told CNN they were still waiting for Venezuelan officials to hand them over to their families. One relative said her nephew could be handed over today. CNN was unable to access any of the released Venezuelans.

The migrants arrived at Simon Bolivar International Airport near Caraca on two flights departing from El Salvador, said Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The family of the former appellant told CNN on Friday that they were excited about their return.

Mariyin Araujo, wife of Jerce Reyes, said she was “a joy.”

“My two daughters are so happy. They are really worried and can’t wait to see their dad,” she said Friday.

Blanca Martinez, partner of Miguel Angel Rojas, another former Venezuelan detainee, told CNN she was excited to hear from him for the first time in four months.

“When I think we can hear him…it excites me,” she said. “I am happy and happy to him, his son, his mom, his dad and his whole family.”

Rivian will deploy Google Maps Enhanced Navigation with its EV lineup

A newly upgraded major upgrade of the R1S SUV and R1T pickups, Rivian is configured to launch software updates for the onboard navigation system to include Google Maps data. However, this isn’t just Google Maps, like mobile apps. Using Google’s auto SDK, Libian is actually overlaying the existing navigation experiences of Google Maps, using the Internet giant’s excellent routing, estimated arrival routing, traffic updates, search capabilities, satellite imagery.

In other words, Rivian’s navigation system now blends with Google’s excellent mapping capabilities and its own charging information, including estimated range and battery capacity remaining at destinations, route planning, and real-time charging information. Additionally, Libian skins the entire interface with its own unique design, and the new version will also debut with the Google Maps update.

Even better, it says the update will expand to a Rivian mobile app (2025 Motorrend Best Tech Award winner) that benefits from photos, searched destination descriptions, satellite map views and real-time traffic data. As before, users can send travel and navigation destinations to Libyans from the app, and now they can do the same using the “share” feature via Google Maps.

The deployment of a new system with the promotion of the new Google system is imminent. Rivian says it will start through over-air updates of all the electric R1S SUVs and R1T pickups they have sold so far.

Hunter Biden denounces Ambien for the disaster of Trump’s debate. What is it?

0

play

Will Ambien be the reason behind former President Joe Biden’s performance of a widely criticized debate against Donald Trump last year? That’s what Hunter Biden thinks.

In a more than three hours of interview with Andrew Callaghan on YouTube Show Channel 5, which aired on July 21, Hunter Biden said his father is experiencing the effects of prescription sleep aid while discussing President Trump.

“We know exactly what happened in that discussion,” Hunter Biden said in a more than three-hour interview with Andrew Callahan on YouTube Show Channel 5, which aired on July 21. “He flew all over the world. Basically, he flew the world three times. The headlights feed every f—in story that everyone wants to tell.”

Biden is not the only public figure to condemn unfortunate behavior in Ambien. A few years ago, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy’s daughter, Kelly Kennedy, accused Ambien of a drug driving incident that he was acquitted in 2014.

But what exactly is Ambien? And how does it affect the human body? Here’s what you need to know about the prescription sleep aide:

What is Ambien?

Ambien, also known as the generic name Zolpidem, is a prescription drug used to treat insomnia by helping individuals fall asleep faster and stay asleep.

The Food and Drug Administration has expressed concern about how it could undermine activities such as driving, particularly driving until morning hours. “People with high levels of zolpidem can be harmed even if they are fully awakened,” the FDA wrote on the fact sheet about the drug.

Now 82, Joe Biden and his former White House aides have denounced the president’s busy schedule for his poor debate performance on June 27, 2024, but have not publicly mentioned Ambien. Representatives of the former president did not respond to requests from USA Today regarding Hunter Biden’s sleeping drug comments.

What are the side effects of ambien?

Side effects of ambien include nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, and diarrhea.

Drugs can also cause abnormal thoughts and behavioral changes. “Some of these changes may be characterized by reduced inhibition…similar to the effects produced by alcohol,” the FDA-approved label states.

Confusion and aggression are also listed. “Visual and auditory hallucinations have been reported, with behavioral changes such as strange behavior, agitating and depersonalising,” the label adds.

The label warns against possible deterioration in depression and suicide thinking. Disorders of vigilance, motor coordination and vision have also been reported.

According to the Centers for Addiction, people who are not completely separate but not completely separate but engaged in activities, such as sleepwalking, sleep driving, and sleep maintenance, have reported complex sleep behaviors, but not completely separate.

Furthermore, this drug is associated with amnesia.

What did the others say about Ambien?

After Barr’s comment about “Ambien Tweeting”, Sanofi, a pharmaceutical company that makes Ambien, I tweeted accordingly: “Every drug treatment has side effects, but racism is not a known side effect of Sanofi’s medicine.” Ambien was also one of the medicines found in Tiger Woods’ system after police found him sleeping in his car in the middle of the highway.

Other Ambien users report a variety of side effects, including sleepwalking, overeating, and driving at night without realizing or remembering the incident.

Janet Makinen, one of the lead plaintiffs in a 2006 class action lawsuit against Ambien Maker Sanofi Aventis’ US division, allegedly “eating hundreds of calories of food, including uncooked yellow, vegetables, canned vegetables, bread, bread, bags of chips and gravel.”

The lawsuit also claims that the plaintiffs of financial analyst Christina Brothers remembered awakening “on a specific prison bed” one night in May 2005.

The parties agreed to the dismissal stipulated in 2007 as the difference between the actual issue and the injury of a woman made it impossible for the lawsuit to be certified as a class action lawsuit on behalf of other Ambien users.

New Astronomer CEO calls Cold Play Scandal “surreal” in his first statement

The new CEO of Data Tech Company Astronomer is working on the infamous Coldplay “Kiss Cam” scandal, urging the last person to step down.

Co-founder Pete DeJoy took on the role of interim CEO after CEO Andy Byron and the company’s chief talent officer reportedly hugged him on the July 18 show, according to the New York Times.

Following the scandal, the company announced via posts on X and LinkedIn that Byron “bided for his resignation.”

In a new LinkedIn post entitled “Moving forward with Astronomer,” Dejoy broke the situation silence with a more positive view.

New Astronomer Interim CEO talks about the scandal

“Events over the past few days have attracted media attention, not to mention the startups on the small corner of the world of data and AI,” Dejoy wrote in a post on Monday, July 21st.

“The spotlight was unusual and surreal for our team. I wouldn’t have hoped it would happen like this, but astronomers are now famous names,” he said.

“From establishing a software company in Cincinnati, Ohio to maintaining lighting through the collapse of banks that hold all their cash, scaling 30 to 300 people during a global pandemic that demands everything even without being in the same room,” writes Dejoy. “Even so, we’re still here.”

Did Andy Byron talk about the scandal?

Byron has yet to publicly address the controversy among astronomers and his absence. The company has rejected a recently manufactured statement impersonating Byron.

The July 16 incident video on Gillette Stadium has received over 124 million views on Tiktok alone.

The viral moments involve men and women hugging each other and then letting go, robbing their vision as “Kiss Cam” shines in the spotlight at Foxborough at Massachusetts Stadium.

“Um, what? Are they cheating or are they very shy,” Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin said at the time.

While astronomers did not specify exactly why Byron resigned, LinkedIn “is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since its founding. Our leaders are expected to set standards in both behavior and accountability.”

The company did not respond to USA Today’s request for comment.
