6,000 exoplanets found beyond our solar system. Is there something like the Earth?

0

For 30 years, astronomers around the world have been searching for space for exoplanets. We recently hit a milestone as more than 6,000 people have been discovered.

In our solar system, Earth is one of eight planets, and there are nine if you want to count Pltune.

But looking beyond the pull of gravity into the boundaries of our Sun’s interstellar space, we see that it is absolutely overflowing with space landscapes filled with worlds of all sizes and characteristics. In fact, for the 30 years since the first explanet was discovered, NASA has recorded a world of over 6,000 milestones beyond the solar system.

And as technology advances, astronomers hope to continue to discover a wide variety of exoplanets among the billions they think exist. But even after 30 years of searching the universe, one question continues for scientists. Are we alone in the universe?

“Is Earth the only home in life? Or is it waiting for other habitable worlds to be found?” the narrator says in a NASA video promoting the milestones. “On every planet we discover, we are closer to answering that question.”

There’s everything you need to know about the exoplanet. And that’s why scientists believe that searching for them is the best way for them to discover whether they exist anywhere else in the universe.

What is exoplanet?

Deformation is a planet outside the Earth’s solar system. Therefore, these bodies are sometimes called extrapolar planets.

Some people, known as Rogue Planets, do not even orbit the stars, but rather flow through an unrelated universe.

How many exoplanets are there?

In 1995, the gas giant known as the 51 Pegasi B orbiting a star similar to Earth’s sun, etched its name into the history of the universe as the first exoplanet ever discovered.

Since then, astronomers around the world have spent 30 years discovering and confirming the existence of thousands of more exoplanets in the distance of the universe.

As of Monday, September 22nd, a total of 6,007 exoplanets have been identified monitoring and tracking explanets, according to NASA’s Explanet Science Institute. One planet will not be considered the 6,000th entry of the milestone, as confirmed planets are regularly added to the count, NASA said in a press release in September that it announced its results.

Additionally, astronomers say there are thought to be billions, not just the nearly 8,000 exoplanet candidates waiting for official confirmation.

How do scientists find exoplanets?

Both terrestrial and space-based space observatory, including James Webb and the Hubble Space Telescope, are essential for imaging and collecting data on potential exoplanets.

Astronomers also expect new future cutting-edge space missions to lead to more discoveries. This includes NASA’s upcoming Nancy Gray Sloman Space Telescope. It is designed to discover thousands of new exoplanets, primarily through a technology known as gravity microlenses.

“This milestone represents decades of space exploration driven by the NASA Space Telescope, a exploration that completely changed the way humans view the night sky,” said Sean Demagal Goldman, director of NASA’s Faculty of Astrophysics, in a statement.

Have we found life on the exoplanet?

In short, it’s not yet.

The exoplanet, known as the K2-18B, gained some fame in April when a team of astronomers claimed they had found atmospheric “still strong evidence” that there was life anywhere except Earth. Other scientists have since questioned the findings. We place the damper on the notion that humanity ultimately has evidence that we are not alone in the universe.

Do exoplanets resemble Earth?

That’s why astronomers are looking for one planet that could potentially harbor a living creature, as they are so similar to Earth.

The universe may be home to both rocky and gaseous worlds that resemble planets in our solar system, but it is also filled with incredibly strange planets like those orbiting our Sun. In space there are Jupiter-sized planets that approach their parental planets than Mercury, and planets orbiting two stars, like two stars named Kepler-16b compared to Tatwein in Star Wars.

Astronomers have also discovered the coldest exoplanet imaged to date, 14 Herculis C. This is about 7 times colder than Jupiter, 26 degrees Fahrenheit. For comparison, most planets are thousands of degrees Fahrenheit.

There are also planets like WASP-193B. It is larger than Jupiter, but is light and faint like cotton candy, and there is also a world like HASP-107B, where sandy clouds in the air fall on its surface like rain.

But among these thousands of worlds, “There are things we haven’t found – planets like us” is a video about NASA’s exoplanet.

“At least, there’s still more.”

How Nissan is trying to mitigate traffic through car-to-car communications

0

play

What if your car could communicate with the vehicle ahead to prevent traffic jams?

Nissan is headquartered in North America in Franklin, Tennessee, and actively tests advanced autonomous driving and AI technology to do so.

At Nissan’s Advanced Technical Center in Silicon Valley, researchers are working to make transportation backup a thing of the past.

“Our goal is to eliminate the waste of stop-and-go traffic,” said ZVI Guter, senior manager of Tech Mobility, Nissan’s technology hub.

In typical traffic conditions, drivers tend to follow too closely, forcing sudden brakes when approaching slow vehicles. This behavior contributes to the rolling traffic jam. This is an inefficient pattern compared to maintaining a steady pace, Guter noted.

“Stop and go traffic is often due to imperfections in human driving behavior,” Gooter said.

Nissan’s partners aim to “lead group action”

Nissan researchers are working with the University of California, Berkeley and the Contra Costa Transportation Department to “predict and guide collective action” to “reduce human driving inefficiencies.”

This program is named Cooperative Commestion Management (CCM).

CCM trials use data from lead vehicles known as probes to help trailing vehicles maintain optimal speed and pacing. The probe collects real-time congestion data, so it sends that information to the vehicle about 30 seconds to a minute late. Equipped with this insight, these vehicles adjust their speed before reaching slowdown, effectively “creating a smooth buffer for subsequent cars.”

“Our tests show that CCM doesn’t just make commuting more comfortable and efficient, but it doesn’t just make it safer,” Guter said.

During 600 miles of testing, vehicles with CCM software with the CCM software withstand 85% hard braking incidents and reduced traffic downtime by 70%. Furthermore, this test has caused the vehicle to be reduced too much.

Nissan’s Propilot supports drivers

This process relies on Propylot Assist, Nissan’s driver assistance technology that increases vision and awareness through cameras and radar sensors.

In reality, this project can reduce stubborn traffic, but its real-world applications go against human behavior.

Before a traffic jam, the vehicle slows down, but the driver could be forced to override the system and reduce the distance between the vehicles ahead.

“To make this more acceptable to human drivers, we are trying to enhance the vehicle interface to let drivers know why we’re slowing down,” said Nissan researcher Joy Carpio.

The team focuses on bringing awareness and education to the driver. Drivers teach drivers that slowing down can save time.

“We need cooperation. It’s difficult to implement if the drivers accept the solution,” Carpio said. “We want our system to seamlessly explain human behavior.”

While widespread applications are not poised in the near future, Nissan believes the technology could revolutionize driving and safety.

“It not only makes Nissan drivers safer and more comfortable, but it also has a positive impact on the entire transportation system,” Guter said.

Tiktok will reach a deal to continue operating with us, Trump White House says

play

WASHINGTON – Tiktok has a preliminary agreement to sell US operations to a group of US-based investors.

The agreement that President Donald Trump’s administration has been working on for months will drive Beijing-based Tiktok’s US operations into a new joint venture consisting of the majority of American ownership. Oracle, a US-based technology company, will serve as Tiktok’s security provider for its American operations.

A senior White House official did not disclose the investors’ names during a September 22 call with reporters regarding the transaction, but confirmed that the consortium includes private equity firm Silver Lake.

In an interview with Fox News on September 21, Trump said Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and billionaire tech investor Michael Dell were involved in the deal, with businessman and media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan Murdoch also “probably in the group.”

Trump will back the deal later this week, allowing the company and investors to close the deal to delay Tiktok’s US ban from going into effect for another 120 days.

Under the arrangement, Tiktok’s algorithm will move under the control of a new US joint venture. Oracle is responsible for inspecting and monitoring the algorithm to ensure that it is not being used for “malicious purposes,” officials said.

White House press director Karoline Leavitt said data from American Tiktok is securely stored on servers run by Oracle in the US without access from China. Leavitt said that U.S. Tiktok users can watch videos posted by users posted in other countries.

The ordinance based on Tiktok’s parent company, Beijing, is set to sign an agreement that approves the framework of the transaction. However, there are still a variety of procedural hurdles, including reviews of antitrust laws that govern fair market competition.

US Tiktok users do not need to download new apps once the transaction is complete.

Tiktok sales were projected to include “billions of dollars” dollars

The White House has not disclosed final figures for the deal, but the sale is expected to be valued at “billions of dollars.”

The full breakdown of Tiktok’s US ownership consortium is unknown, but White House officials said it complies with federal laws that prevent it from owning less than 20% of its US business.

The full composition of the ownership group is expected to be finalized by the closure of transactions that could take place in the beginning of 2026. The Trump administration has no plans for the federal government to take stake in the joint venture, officials said.

Americans oversee US operations for six of the seven seats on Tiktok’s board of directors, but the ordinance will occupy one of the seats, Reuters reported.

US authorities in multiple administrations have expressed concern that Tiktok poses a national security threat. Tiktok repeatedly denied these claims.

Former President Joe Biden signed a law banning Tiktok in the United States in 2024, unless the Beijing-based parent company ordinance sells its US holdings. However, Trump extended the deadline for sales or vans three times in his second presidential term.

Chinese President Xi Jinping appeared to be congratulating the deal during his call with Trump on September 19th.

The Chinese government “respects Tiktok’s wishes” and is “pleased to see business negotiations in line with market rules and solutions compliant with Chinese laws and regulations,” Chinese officials said after the meeting.

The Trump administration is “100% confident” and the deal will receive final approval from Chinese leaders, White House officials said.

Trump, who supported the ban on Tiktok in his first term, has become a fan of Tiktok, who praised the app for supporting the outreach to younger voters in his 2024 campaign.

Trump reveals the “answer” to autism. What do science say?

0

play

President Donald Trump says he has the “answer to autism” and will reveal these findings in a highly anticipated report at the afternoon White House event on September 22nd.

The report follows Robert F. Kennedy Jr., director of Health and Human Services, who vowed to find the cause of the rise in autism incidents by September 2025, and is expected to list Tylenol as a possible cause.

“We’re going to announce autism on Monday,” Trump said on September 20 at a dinner hosted by the conservative American Foundation Stone Institute. “I think it’s going to be a very important announcement. I think it will be one of the most important things we do.”

He also mentioned the report at a Sept. 21 memorial rally for Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist who was killed on September 10 while talking to a crowd at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

“I think you think it’s amazing,” Trump told Charlie Kirk’s memorial rally in Glendale, Arizona on September 21. “I think we’ve found the answer to autism.”

Acetaminophen, often sold under the brand name Tylenol, has long been considered the safest option for managing headaches, fever and other pains during pregnancy.

According to the Maternal and Fetal Medicine Association, a large study has reported that between 40% and 65% of pregnant women use acetaminophen at some point during their pregnancy.

By 2022, the autism rate in the 8-year-olds of the US had increased by 1 in 31, 3.2%, from 2.77% in 2020, 2.27% in 2018, and 0.66% in 2000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Kennedy claims that the US has grasped the “autism epidemic” that has been fueled by “environmental toxins.” Decades of research have not provided a solid answer on what contributes to autism, but many scientists believe that genetics plays a potential role in combination with environmental influences. They also say that the increased incidence of autism can be attributed to increased access to diagnostic tools and improved early detection.

A report published in BMC Environmental Health found that a large study with over 100,000 participants tended to find a link between acetaminophen use and neurodevelopmental disorders during pregnancy.

“Given the widespread use of this drug therapy, even a small increase in risk can have a significant public health impact,” said Dr. Didia Prada, assistant professor of population health sciences and policy at Icahn School of Medicine in Mount Sinai.

Over 20 studies around the world have found that pregnant people frequently use acetaminophen to link autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to children. However, some studies have also found competing evidence.

A 2024 study in Sweden found that over 180,000 children who were exposed to acetaminophen during pregnancy had no association between painkillers and the risk of children with autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability.

Some researchers say the data is not too cut and dry. Many health conditions that cause pain and fever, commonly treated with Tylenol, are also associated with an increased risk of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. For example, a 2024 Swedish study found that parents who “have high acetaminophen” tend to have an increased diagnosis of psychiatric or neurodevelopmental disorders, and are more likely to inhale other medications or take other medications.

“Results suggest that there was not one confounding factor for a single ‘smoking gun’, but rather that the health and sociodemographic characteristics of multiple births each explained at least some of the obvious associations,” the study authors said.

It is difficult to dismantle the data of what is behind the link. Is it Tylenol or are these health conditions?

play

President Trump suggests possible treatment for autism

President Trump said the “big announcement” about autism will come from the White House on Monday, September 22nd.

Kamboo, the maker of Tylenol, says acetaminophen continues to be the safest pain relief option for pregnant women, without which women are suffering from potentially harmful fevers or at risk of using high-risk alternatives to reduce pain.

“We believe that independent, sound science clearly shows that taking acetaminophen does not cause autism, otherwise we are strongly opposed to any suggestions,” said Melissa Witt, a spokesman for the company. “Over a decade of rigorous research approved by leading health professionals and global health regulators confirms that there is no reliable evidence linking acetaminophen to autism.”

Autism spectrum disorder, or ASD, is the clinical name of what most people call autism. Christopher Banks, president and CEO of the Autism Society for Autism, is defined as “complex developmental conditions that affect communication, social interaction and behavior.”

“At this point, the weight of scientific evidence that acetaminophen use during pregnancy causes an increased risk of autism or ADHD is simply inconclusive,” SMFM president Sindhu K. Srinivas said in a statement on September 5th. “In maternal fetal medicine, like all medicine, our recommendations are based on rigorous research and data, clinical expertise, and assessment of patient values and preferences.”

How to see President Trump’s announcement on autism research

President Donald Trump is scheduled to present his autism research at 4pm on Monday, September 22nd, accompanied by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., director of the Department of Health and Human Services, and Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

“I think we’ve found the answer to autism,” Trump said on September 21 at the Charlie Kirk memorial rally in Glendale, Arizona.

According to Politico and Washington Post, which cited anonymous sources, authorities are expected to argue that using Tylenol during pregnancy can contribute to the development of autism in children. Medical guidelines state that acetaminophen, a common form of Tylenol, is safe to use. Acetaminophen is commonly used by pregnant women, and pregnant women are already advised not to use ibuprofen after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

However, the Trump administration has repeatedly argued about plans to find the “cause” of autism, indicating that despite decades of medical and scientific consensus, idiosyncratic sources, including drugs, can be attributed to conditions, and is likely the result of multiple contributing factors, including genetics. Without evidence, Kennedy argues that the country has an “autism epidemic” fueled by “environmental toxins.”

Trump and his advisors are expected to also discuss potential treatments for autism, the news organization reported.

Man accused of trying to kill Trump to present the case

0

Last week, Ryan Rouse demanded that the judge abandon most of the charges against him, claiming that prosecutors had not proven he was planning to hurt Trump.

play

The man accused of trying to assassinate President Donald Trump in Florida last year is expected to present his case to the ju judge on Monday, September 22nd.

Ryan Rouse, 59, is representing himself and intends to call three witnesses to the stands, he told the court last week. Routh pleaded not guilty to multiple federal accusations, including attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.

Prosecutors argue that on September 15, 2024, Ruth is planning to perch on the Trump International Golf Club’s tree line with a rifle and fatally shoot the Republican presidential candidate. Before Trump enters his gaze, a US Secret Service agent discovered Routh and fired fire, blocking the assassination plan, prosecutors say.

The government took the lawsuit to absent on Friday, September 19th. For more than a week, the ju judge heard testimony from forensic experts, witnesses and acquaintances of Rous.

Last week, Routh told us district judge Irene Cannon that he wanted to show what his defensive strategy was and would like to introduce character evidence to show him “peace, kindness, non-violence.”

“The gun didn’t fire”: Rous tries to throw away the bill

At the end of the federal prosecutor’s case last week, Routh acquitted four of five counts against him, alleging that the prosecutors did not provide sufficient evidence to prove their case.

In dealing with the accusations of attempted assassination, Rous argued that prosecutors had not proven that he intended to hurt Trump.

“The guns never fired, and as long as they took a substantial step to killing the former president, nothing happened,” he told the court.

Assisstant US lawyer John Shipley responded by stating that Routh had purchased the rifle in the weeks leading up to his assassination attempt, loading it round into the chamber on the day of question, and pointing the rifle through the fence as Trump was playing golf.

Rous also argued that he had the right to peacefully protest on the golf course.

“This is as far away as you can imagine (from a peaceful gathering),” Shipley replied. “Peaceful protest is one thing. The attempt to assassinate is another.”

Trump’s appointee Cannon refused to discuss Rous, saying there was adequate basis for the charges against him.

Pope Leo talks about Trump, Vance and the intended approach to us in an interview

Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope in the Catholic Church, said in a detailed interview he had not met or spoken with President Trump.

play

Pope Leo XIV shared his thoughts on Donald Trump and how the first American clergy of the Catholic Church would work with the president in his first in-depth interview since the election to the Pope See in May.

In an interview released on September 18th, the Illinois-born Pope touched on a wide range of topics, including the political situation in the United States. Once upon a time, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevast Pope was born and raised in the southern suburbs of Chicago. He also retains Peruvian citizenship after spending much of his career there.

Leo, 70, added to religious news outlet Crocs that he doesn’t plan on “partisan politics,” but he “is not afraid to raise the issue.”

The Pope also recalled a conversation with Vice President J.D. Vance, where he told the Republican leader he spoke about the importance of human dignity. Vance, who converted to the first Catholicism to serve as vice president, met personally with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his wife, with the new Pope, less than two weeks after Leo’s choice.

“Obviously there are a few things going on in the states where I’m concerned,” Leo said. “We’re at least looking for ways to respond and continuing to raise some of the questions we need to ask.”

The Pope said he had not met Trump yet or had not spoken directly with him, but mentioned a headline-grabbing visit to his brother’s oval office.

Louis Prevast and his wife, Deborah, met briefly with the president and vice president and took a photo on May 20th in their oval office.

“One of my brothers has met him and is very frank about his political perspective,” Leo said. “But if there’s a particular problem, if it’s possible to interact with him, I wouldn’t have a problem doing so.”

The Pope also praised the open letter of his predecessor to Catholics in February, criticising Trump’s immigration policies and massive deportation, calling them a dangerous and “major crisis.”

“I recommend every faithful person in the Catholic Church, and every man and woman of good intentions. I will not succumb to a story that discriminates against our immigrants and refugee brothers and sisters, causing unnecessary suffering,” writes Francis.

Leo said it was “very happy” to see an American bishop “who is brave” to pick up Francis’ letters, indicating that he would follow a similar path to American Catholic leaders.

“I’ve met a lot of world leaders, and there are important issues that can be raised,” Leo said when asked about how he works with Trump. “But it is impossible for the Pope to participate in individual countries around the world, and it would be impossible to say, ‘This is what you should do, that’s what you should think about’.”

Trump denounces Tylenol, hoping to announce the “answer” to autism: Live

0

Health experts say there is no one source of responsibility for autism. And doctors say acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, is safe to use.

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump is expected to announce autism at the White House event on September 22nd afternoon.

“I think you think it’s amazing,” Trump told Charlie Kirk’s memorial rally in Glendale, Arizona on September 21. “I think we’ve found the answer to autism.”

Trump is scheduled to make a presentation at 4 p.m. with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrators of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

According to Politico and the Washington Post, authorities will announce that use of Tylenol during pregnancy can contribute to the development of autism in children. In a statement, Kamboo, owner of Tylenol, said in a statement that the active ingredient “acetaminophen does not cause autism.”

Trump and his advisors are expected to also discuss potential treatments for autism, the news organization reported.

Here’s what we know about the announcement:

Autism is increasingly diagnosed

Autism spectrum disorder is the clinical name of what most people call autism and is diagnosed based on challenges that involve social skills, communication and repetitive behavior. Symptoms vary widely across the spectrum, with some people not able to communicate at all, others being very successful.

The diagnosis of autism has increased significantly since 2000. By 2020, the US autism rate among 8-year-olds had 1 in 36 people, up from 0.66% in 2000.

Decades of research have not provided solid answers about what contributes to autism, but many scientists believe that genetics plays a role, and potentially, environmental impacts. Kennedy claims that the country has an “autism epidemic” fueled by “environmental toxins.”

Because characteristics and levels of support vary widely, “there is no single approach to suit all people with autism,” says Christopher Banks, president and CEO of the American Autism Association.

“Acetaminophen does not cause autism”: Tylenol

Tylenol’s parent company Kemb has issued a statement that independent scientific research has shown that taking acetaminophen is “the safest painkiller option for pregnant women when needed during pregnancy.”

The company said a decade of rigorous research approved by leading health professionals and global health regulators found “there is no reliable evidence linking acetaminophen to autism.”

“We believe that independent science clearly shows that taking acetaminophen does not cause autism,” the statement said. “If not, I will strongly oppose any suggestions and be deeply concerned with the health risks this poses in order to expect a mother.”

Still, more than 20 studies around the world have linked autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder by pregnant people frequently using acetaminophen.

However, some studies have also found competing evidence. A 2024 study in Sweden found that over 180,000 children who were exposed to acetaminophen during pregnancy had no association between painkillers and the risk of children with autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability.

A federal judge found that the 440 lawsuits against Tylenol makers lacked “acceptable evidence” that would indicate a link between Tylenol and prenatal use of autism or ADHD, according to an ABC News report. -ZAC Anderson And Adriana Rodriguez

“Sound Answers” to Causes of Autism: Experts

Trump signed an executive order in February to create the Make America Healthy Commission, which includes research into the threat of certain drugs.

At a press conference in April, Kennedy said autism is “preventable” and directed the National Institutes of Health to “determine exactly what environmental toxins are causing it.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention previously found that increased incidence of autism could be attributed to increased access to diagnostic tools and improved early detection. According to the CDC, some people with autism spectrum disorder have genetic conditions, but other “the causes are not yet known.”

“There will never be a healthy answer to the causes of autism,” said Helen Tagger Fulsberg, a psychologist studying neurodevelopmental conditions at Boston University, Massachusetts. -Swapna Venugopal Ramaswamy

What does the doctor say about Tylenol?

Medical guidelines state that acetaminophen, a common form of Tylenol, is safe to use. Acetaminophen is commonly used by pregnant women, and pregnant women are already advised not to use ibuprofen after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

The Association of Maternal and Fetal Medicine and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology approved it in a statement on September 5th using acetaminophen during pregnancy.

“Acetaminophen remains a safe and reliable option for pain relief during pregnancy,” the statement said. “Despite recent unfounded claims, there is no clear evidence linking careful use to problems with fetal development.”

Priscilla Presley’s book reveals the secrets about Elvis and Lisa Marie

0

Priscilla Presley’s new memoir, “As I Leave You, Gently: Life After Elvis” revisits the end of her marriage and the death of her daughter, Lisa Marie

Priscilla Presley loved Elvis, but left him anyway.

“I have never regretted my decision to leave Elvis,” she writes. “But I never stopped lamenting it.”

In her new memoir, “Softly, As As As As Leave You: Life After Elvis,” (Grand Central Publishing, 336 pp., released Tuesday, September 23rd), she will be greeted with the departure of her 1985 book, “Elvis and Me.” From the addiction struggle of her son Navalon Garcia to the premature death of her daughter Lisa Marie Presley and the suicide of her grandson Ben Kewu, the enormous amount of love and loss is phenomenal.

In an early copy of the book provided to USA Today, Priscilla (age 80) miswritten after the end of her marriage, but through the perspective of her great grandmother, her relationship with the king of rock and roll.

It is clear that her feelings towards him remained unchanged.

These are the book’s greatest revelation:

Priscilla Presley made the difficult decision to remove her daughter, Lisa Marie from life support

After Lisa Marie was found to not respond, EMT was able to impact her back with a defibrillator and epinephrine, but “from the first moment I walked to Lisa’s hospital room and knew she was already gone,” Presley wrote.

When Lisa Marie’s mind stopped again, the doctor asked Presley what she wanted to do.

“I asked the doctor, he looked at me with compassion and said, “There’s absolutely no quality of life.”

“I thought about my girl, my wild, rebellious and passionate girl.

Presley won’t say whether she consulted Lisa Marie’s eldest son, Riley Keefe, before making a decision. However, in Lisa Marie’s own memoir, From Here to The Great Unknown, Riley explains that she is on a plane to LA and gets devastating news of her mother’s death in texts from her father.

Lisa Marie had mentioned her stomach pain, but “what she wasn’t telling me was that she was probably doing a stomach bypass a few years ago because she wasn’t aware of the connection,” Priscilla wrote. “She just said she was having ‘a little cosmetic surgery’. ”

Lisa Marie, 54, died of a small intestinal obstruction from complications from bariatric surgery.

Priscilla believes that Lisa Marie has married Michael Jackson.

“She wanted to be with a guy of the same level as her,” Presley writes about Lisa Marie’s decision to divorce Michael Jackson, who married musician Danny Kee three weeks later.

“I was appalled,” Presley says. “I didn’t believe he loved her.”

She goes to a dinner party at Lisa Marie’s house and wants to know him, Jackson plays outside with her kids “who were as far away as possible from me.” He later appeared in honor of Elvis in Memphis, but they didn’t speak there. That was all she saw her step-son.

“I asked her if she had a physical relationship. Like many, I wasn’t sure,” she wrote. Lisa Marie told her they did it.

When Lisa Marie filed for divorce less than two years later, “I was able to hear Elvis sigh in peace,” Priscilla wrote.

Elvis once called his ex-wife Priscilla when he was in bed with Robert Kardashian.

“If I had known Robert was in my bedroom, I would have been literally ballistic,” she wrote. It never happened to him that Priscilla might have been asleep at 2am. And “It certainly never happened to him that I might be with another guy.”

After the chat she returned under the cover, but neither person was wise.

Kim Kardashian was able to have a final conversation as he called Priscilla from the hospital in 2003 when Robert was dying of esophageal cancer.

“He was the kindness of a man and I remember him with great affection,” she writes.

Lisa Marie Presley claimed that Priscilla’s boyfriend had abused her for years. Priscilla learned from her daughter’s book

Presley writes that 14-year-old Lisa Marie told her that Michael Edwards came to her room drunk and pulled the cover back to see her in her nightgown. When questioned by Priscilla, she denied that he had ever touched her inappropriately. (In Lisa Marie’s memoirs, she remembers the incident occurred when she was 10 years old and touched her and kissed her. She also writes that the abuse escalated into spanking.)

Priscilla decides there is no risk of having Edwards in the house and asks him to move in.

A few years later, Priscilla wrote, and Edwards told her he regretted that he had published all of his books.

“If Elvis was still alive, Michael wouldn’t have called me about his regrets,” she wrote. “Elvis would have shot him.”

USA Today contacted Edwards for comment. In 2024, Edwards told USA Today in a statement:

On her part, Priscilla writes that Lisa Marie’s revelation “makes no meaning.”

“I’m struggling to reconcile with Lisa’s words. We couldn’t talk about it together because we hadn’t heard them since she passed away. I know that it will never be closed.”

Priscilla Presley reveals what led to her alienation from Lisa Marie

Things were never the same between mother and daughter after Lisa Marie failed to custody of twins Harper and Finley during their divorce from Michael Lockwood.

Lisa Marie has accused Lockwood of child abuse and sexual misconduct — his lawyer, Jeff Starman, has denied the Associated Press, claiming it was called “very sensational” and “inaccurate.”

When the court’s investigation found nothing to support the claim, Lisa Marie asked Priscilla to sign a deposit stating that Lockwood was “not worthy of custody.”

She refused, “Because I’d never seen Michael behave in the harmful way she was claiming it.” “Signing it is perjury. …To her, it was a betrayal.”

Priscilla “will stab me in my heart and she will never forgive me completely,” she writes. “And she never did.”

Priscilla suggests that if she and Elvis had lived a long life, they might have met again.

When Elvis left her house, one Christmas after their divorce, “He kissed me on the forehead and looked at me,” she recalls. “There was a moment, and then he said, ‘Someday, maybe someday.’ ”

She admits that Elvis “undetectedly” why she is reluctant to remarry or is in another serious relationship.

“People long for true love, the kind of thing that will make you fall deeper until you realize it’s bottomless,” she writes. “I found it before I was old enough to understand it. He had no chance to get older, so I lost the opportunity to find it again with Elvis.”

Book excerpt: Incitement: How America’s constitutional order was born out of a violent crisis

0

Americans who hate the Constitution will do anything to change it. No one demonstrated that he was superior to the white supremacists of South Carolina after the civil war.

They were a small number of nations, but were used to being told in every way that their skin color was entitled to dominate. So they were furious when ex-slaves enforced racial equality and first encouraged black participation in the political process. As soon as that constitution was written, white supremacists pledged their lives, property and honor to support their decades of efforts to rewrite it. They formed two terrorist organizations and used them to wage war against the government, including killing civil servants in wide sunlight. To ultimately win an election that allowed them to call a new constitutional treaty, some of them voted 20 times in a day, threatening black voters at gunpoint. When it sparked election disputes instead of a clear victory, they formed their own legislature, took over the state capitol, launched a governor of their favourite candidate, and persuaded the federal government to set up their coup. And when white supremacists finally summoned the constitutional treaty in 1895, they cast a racial cap on a small number of black representatives during official lawsuits before disenfranchising black voters throughout the state.

This is not the way we usually imagine constitutional production. Instead, he imagines that the founding father, who gathered in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787, would turn their highest ideals into the US Constitution. I imagine George Washington quietly hosting, but the intellectual giant debated how best to elect a US president. Or, Benjamin Franklin expects to emerge from the treaty to urge representatives to sign the final document, even if they are suspected, and to communicate to concerned citizens that they have a Republic if they can protect it. And because the US Constitution has endured for over 200 years, you can literally go see it at the National Archives in Washington, DC, and enjoy the fact that it is still in force. This is an exciting part and an important story in our country’s constitutional story. But there is another depressing constitutional story that is equally important. Instead of success and gentle deliberation, it involves failure and a violent crisis. Where the drafting of the constitution did not unite us, but torn us apart. Today’s constitutional orders rest in places like South Carolina, just like Philadelphia in 1895, in 1787.

To tell that constitutional story, I will mainly focus on the constitution of our state. We generally pay less attention to the national constitution than the US Constitution, but they are equally important parts of the American constitutional system. All Americans live under two constitutions. One lives for their nation, the other for the entire nation. The state’s constitution affects you in a profound way. They protect rights that the US Constitution does not, like the right to education. They decide who can become a member of your state legislature and how it can tax you. They defined who qualifies as governor and whether the person can reject maps drawn by Congress, and elected representatives of your state to Congress. If you are one of the millions of Americans who operate in state courts each year, the state constitution regulates how the judge who presides over your case was chosen. And they gave discussions about whether your state government can close schools or whether you can request that you receive the vaccine when the Covid-19 pandemic is furious. More than that, the state’s constitution had a powerful influence on the US constitution. Most of what you value about the US Constitution, including free expression and the right to separation of power, began with the state constitution. In short, state constitutions can teach you about American constitutional laws that you don’t know about just learning about the US constitution.

In our age of polarization, the term “constitutional crisis” is overused. I use this term to refer to a particular moment in which a constitutional order threatens to break down. I meant the contested elections that produced two governments and the success of a military-style campaign to overthrow the government. The book progresses in two parts. The first concerns the constitutional crisis in pre-civil war states. During the American Revolution, the state drafted the first constitution. The constitutions of these early states played an important role in defining America, informing us how the founders wrote the American Constitution in 1787. I looked into the need to resolve the drafters of the difficult and divisive questions of the first national constitution. These include those mean “popular sovereignty” and “freedom” in the new republic. Next, we show how these same issues have broken down the state’s constitution in a dramatic way. Such incidents have predicted and helped to have caused the country’s worst constitutional crisis and the Civil War.

The second part considers the constitutional crisis of the state under reconstruction and the rise of Jim Crow. Civil wars and reconstruction cast a long shadow on our history. That’s not surprising for a war that produced more deaths than all other wars in America combined. For many Americans worried about constitutional crisis, civil war serves as an example of how a constitutional crisis can produce devastating consequences. We are still fighting the legacy of war in discussions about slavery and what to teach students about whether Confederate monuments should be eliminated. One day, all students will learn about abolishing slavery in the US Constitution, ensuring equal protection under the law, and banning racism in the vote. However, we have failed to understand another important legacy from the era of reconstruction: the steady flow of the state’s constitutional crisis. Aside from its founding era, reconstruction saw the biggest burst of constitutional writing at the state level of American history. This part records how the conflict between the new constitutional vision of racial equality and the new constitutional vision of white hegemony that reached its peak in almost every southern state experiencing the Civil War years later at the national level.

In total, I provide six examples of constitutional crisis. Think of them as six episodes that tell one constitutional story. Along the way, you will meet your father, whom you studied at school. You will know that a fairer nation, the villain is committed to fighting teeth and claws and protecting an unfair constitutional order. You’ll know the fear that the vulnerable Americans who needed constitutional protection most felt as they approached the edge of the deep by constitutional law, the trauma they experienced when they were pushed in, and the heartbreak that lived while wondering if someone would pull them out.

In conclusion, we will explain how reexamining the constitutional crisis in forgotten states can remind us of important lessons about American history and confront the underrated threat to the health of the constitutional system. Over the past few years, I have seen more Americans than ever before about constitutional crisis at the national level. On January 6, 2021, then-President Donald Trump told supporters that the recent presidential election had been stolen from him. He warned, “If you don’t fight like hell, you won’t have a country anymore.” His supporters, carrying many weapons, violated safety in the Capitol building, causing officials to fear their lives, and temporarily prevented Congress from acknowledging election votes. The aftermath saw a passionate national debate about whether Trump was criminally liable for his actions and whether the US Constitution disqualified him from the 2024 election. With national politics already on the edge of the knife, Americans considered whether Trump survived the assassin bullets slightly and whether concerns about President Joseph Biden’s mental capabilities justified using the 25th Amendment to eliminate him. In attempting to navigate these constitutional dangers, Americans also discuss various amendments to ensure stability in the constitutional system. In conclusion, I ask that some of that attention be directed to the state constitution.

I think this book will benefit jurists, historians, judges and lawyers. But if you’re not those, this book is about the same for you. Our state’s constitution belongs to all of us, like the US Constitution, regardless of the background. Whatever your education level or occupation, you need to understand our full constitutional history in order to truly assess the constitutional dangers we face. And you have an important role to play in maintaining our constitutional order.

Donald Trump meets Elon Musk at Charlie Kirk’s Memorial

“Elon came and said hello,” Trump told reporters after the event.

President Donald Trump met with Elon Musk at a service-making ceremony for murdered conservative activist Charlie Kirk, reuniting one of the most consequential analyses in recent political history after his dramatic dropout.

“Elon came and said hello,” Trump told reporters after the September 21 event in Arizona.

Musk posted a photo of himself with Trump at hours of memorial on social media, writing “For Charlie.” The White House also posted a photo of the pair on social media with the same message. The former colleagues sat down and shook hands.

Musk, the world’s wealthiest man, spent about $290 million to help Trump win in 2024 and help the president and Republicans get elected. He became one of Trump’s closest advisers in the early days of the Second Administration, sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom in the White House, where he worked to reassess the federal agency through government efficiency.

Musk-led Doge has enacted a massive number of layoffs in dramatic federal reforms and shut down the entire agency. But Musk clashed with parts of the administration and ultimately with Trump. He left the administration and the pair took a very public break in June.

Musk and Trump have exchanged online for criticizing the new law for the president’s signature, saying that his name was mentioned in Jeffrey Epstein’s government file and announced the creation of a new political party to compete with Republicans and Democrats. Trump said Musk “completely ‘off the rail'” and called it a “train wreck” in a social media post.

In June, Kirk said he hoped Trump and Musk would repair their relationship and predicted that would happen.

“I know both of them very well, and I think at some point they’ll reconcile,” Kirk told Meggin Kelly on a show this summer, adding, “I think they’re stronger.”

So did Trump and Musk make up?

Trump said he was happy that the former Doge leader approached him at Kirk’s memorial on September 21. “We had a very good relationship,” the president told reporters on board Air Force 1. “But it’s good that he came.”

  • Georgia, Miami, Pennsylvania and Ohio State hold the top spots for the latest NCAA re-ranked.
  • Indiana made a big jump to No. 8 after a dominant victory over Illinois.
  • Memphis is currently the main group of five candidates for the college football playoff spot.

Georgia, Miami, Pennsylvania and Ohio State will rerank the USA Today Sports NCAA, rerank 1-136, heading for one of the biggest weekends of the college’s football regular season.

Saturday’s slate will include Oregon in Pennsylvania, LSU in Mississippi and Alabama in Georgia.

The re-ranked top seven didn’t get upset, but there was some debate as to whether No. 7 Oklahoma deserves to go ahead of No. 6 LSU after beating Auburn 24-17. The Sooners resume also benefits from Michigan’s 20th place finish in Nebraska, 30-27 victory. However, the Tigers were able to stay ahead after a season-high 530 yards in a 56-10 victory against southeast Louisiana.

The big mover this week was number 8 Indiana. This rose 12 spots after a 63-10 runaway in Illinois No. 21. The Hoosiers played a near-perfect game with attacks, dominating the line of scrimmage against opponents previously considered one of the most physical things in Big Ten.

Another big jumping team was No. 25 Memphis, climbing 17 spots after beating Arkansas 32-31. The victory will make the Tigers the current favourite of five bid groups for the college football playoffs, but that could change soon as America begins playing.

The list of teams experiencing double-digit drops starts with Clemson No. 64 and Florida No. 65. The Tigers and Gators both have dipped to 16 spots after falling to 1-3, incurring losses to Syracuse and Miami, respectively.

No other things to drop 1-136. 29Utah (14), No. 40 South Carolina (14), No. 56 California (12), No. 67 West Virginia (10), No. 77 Wisconsin (14), No. 109Oklahoma State (16) included.

Do you buy now or will your later loan affect your credit score? They’ll soon be

0

play

Clicking on the “Pay Later” option at checkout may affect your credit score in the coming weeks.

In February, credit scoring agency FICO announced that it would begin paying later, as well as those offered by assertions and afterpay in fall 2025, as well as those charged on credit scores with a later pay (BNPL) loan. A scoring formula that incorporates BNPL payments.

FICO scores are used in most US lending decisions and are developed based on a consistent payment history.

As FICO approaches the time to deploy a new scoring algorithm, there are things to know before your credit scores are affected.

Are you buying now or paying for a later loan?

Buy now and pay a later loan (BNPL) and offer consumers the option to pay installment purchases. Interest usually does not have minimal or minimal interest, hard credit checks, and no approval for myopia.

Services like Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay, and PayPal Pay usually offer the option to pay in the number of installments set at the online shopping checkout for consumers. Depending on the purchase and app size, consumers can choose how many payments they pay, how often they will incur, and the fees they are willing to pay. The model also offers a unique opportunity for consumers to open the same or different providers at once to open multiple loans.

Will buying now and paying a later loan affect your credit?

Until recently, one of the benefits of BNPL loans was its lack of impact on your credit score. Approval of these loans does not require a rigorous credit check. This means that consumers will not receive credit score dings to apply or use them, and were not previously reported to credit institutions as part of the official form to determine credit ratings.

Then in February, FICO announced that it would start considering BNPL loans in people’s credit scores starting in fall 2025.

FICO (Fair Isaac Corporation) is a credit scoring model with a unique algorithm that takes into account the various information contained in consumer credit department reports. It is frequently used by many major US lenders (up to 90% according to FICO).

When will you buy it and will you start to affect your credit score by paying a later loan?

FICO does not give you a specific date or timeline about when consumers begin to affect their credit scores based on BNPL data.

In a statement on September 12, FICO told USA Today in a statement on September 12 that the two credit score systems developed to incorporate the BNPL loan – a FICO score of 10 BNPL and a FICO score of 10 T BNPL- are not live yet, but “as expected, we expect it will be available this fall.”

According to FICO and previous USA Today reports, the change will not be immediately apparent to consumers.

According to FICO, lenders attempting to perform credit checks will not have access to these new score types until the relevant credit reporting agency (CRA) receives sufficient data from the BNPL provider. Lenders will not be able to use the new scoring model until the required information has been collected.

Also, consumers are unlikely to have a significant immediate impact, Nald Wallet spokesman Sarah Lasner previously told USA Today that lenders adopting new scoring would take time.

“A variety of scoring models are designed for different focus,” Lassner said. “It can take years before these are adopted primarily in decision-making and may not be adopted by lenders for any type of borrowing.”

Will buying now and paying a later loan affect my credit in the future?

As of mid-September 2025, FICO is the only credit scoring model that includes a protocol for incorporating BNPL loans into their scores.

Consumer impact depends on how the major credit institutions (Transunion, Equifax, Experian, and Private Lenders) choose to incorporate a FICO score of 10 BNPL and a FICO score of 10 T BNPL.

According to a collaborative study simulating the inclusion of BNPL data in AFFIRM, FICO found that the impact of scores was generally consistent with the opening of new accounts. It also found that the majority of consumers who declared five or more BNPL loans saw either a higher score or an impact.

“The impact of BNPL loans differs from consumer to consumer, depending on the overall credit profile of the consumer and the information contained in the BNPL loan in question,” FICO said in a statement.

FICO has also maintained this change since its first announcement that it will help “traditional, uncredit” consumers receive and improve their scores.

Lasner previously told USA Today that this could be net positive for those who are using BNPL loans responsibly.

However, the impact could soon be negative as BNPL is increasingly used for essentials rather than luxury items, and is already financially tied down. For example, a September survey by LegalShield found that 47% of BNPL customers use loans to pay for their grocery, while 35% pay for medical expenses. Almost half (49%) of BNPL users missed at least one payment, according to the survey.

“Buy now and pay later can be an incredible tool,” Lassner said.

Trump, conservative leader praises Charlie Kirk

Tens of thousands of mourners, including President Donald Trump and members of his administration, honored the life of prominent conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Sunday’s additional service ceremony in Glendale, Arizona.

Politics has encountered faith: He remembers the 31-year-old who attended a service before dawn, listened to conservative leaders, listened to Kirk’s loved ones, and was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University. Supporters praised Kirk, a close ally of the Trump administration, for his religious leadership and vowed to continue his legacy.

  • “The answer to hatred is not hatred”: Kirk’s widow, 36, Erika Kirk, said she forgives the man accused of killing her husband.
  • The President’s remarks: Trump praised Kirk and celebrated his political achievements, shaking while taking shots with former President Joe Biden and his rivals, including “The Extreme Left.”
  • Participants from White House Allies: White House Vice President Stephen Miller, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. were among the prominent guests who addressed the crowd at State Farm Stadium. This is what they said.

H-1B visa workers are decorated in chaos

Panic, confusion and anger ruled as some workers on the H-1B visa abandoned their travel plans and were forced to return to the United States after President Trump levied new visa fees in line with his widespread immigration crackdown. Tech companies and banks sent emergency notes to employees, advised them to return before 12:01am on Sunday and ordered them not to leave the country. White House officials said on Saturday that the order will only apply to new applicants, not existing or visa holders seeking renewals, and address some of the confusion about who will be affected.. But Trump’s declaration already sparked an alarm bell in Silicon Valley a day before.

The cameras of around 40,000 school buses help identify and punish people who illegally halt the bus. Penalties can be strict.

The stop arm is expanded. The light will flash. The bus will be stopped. The children disembark.

But then something goes wrong.

Drivers in other lanes will not stop. Or one of the back of the buses gets impatient and tries to pass.

It can end in tragedy, as happened in the 2018 crash crash in Rochester, Indiana. A 9-year-old girl, her brother, and six-year-old twins were killed, while an 11-year-old child was seriously injured.

Such a horrifying crash is why the state has a long history of large penalties for those who illegally pass school buses. Currently, around two dozen states and 40,000 bus technology helps identify and punish offenders.

In all 50 US states, it is illegal for a driver to extend the stopped arm and pass a stopped school bus with the lights flashing, with the driver coming from behind the bus. This is just one illegal way to put your child at risk. Penalties include $1,000 fines, licence suspensions and points in many states, even for initial crimes.

However, data shows that thousands of drivers ignore risks every day. Here’s what you need to know.

It is dangerous to illegally pass a stopped school bus.

From 2000 to 2023, there were 61 fatal collisions involving drivers illegally passing through school buses during the shutdown, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. (Federal agencies point out that school buses are still statistically the safest way to transport children.)

The National School Transport Association (NSTA) cited a day-long investigation of 114,000 school bus drivers, asking them to report any violations they witnessed. Drivers reported more than 67,000 violations in just one day, and the organization concluded that “drivers have illegally passed school buses millions of times nationwide, with the risk of injuries and deaths being heavily dependent on children.”

What are the penalties?

The penalty for extending the stop arm and passing through the school bus with the lights activated varies depending on the condition. Some, including Alabama, Alaska, Georgia, and Delaware, apply six points to offender driver’s licenses. (New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Vermont, Florida, Michigan and Nebraska will also add points of violation.)

Passing a school bus illegally can be costly, even in a more literal sense. It is a part of the state that fines up to $1,000 for first crimes in states, including Arkansas, California, Tennessee and Hawaii. Penalties are even more severe when a driver causes injury or death, including higher fines, felony charges and imprisonment.

This is where to stop for the school bus

Laws vary from state to state, but some rules have broad agreement.

On a typical two-lane road, when the school bus activates the red flash light and extends the stop arm, the driver going in both directions must stop. The driver behind the bus will also have to wait (as necessary) when the school bus stops completely at the railway intersection.

On roads, drivers must be split by barriers, median or other physical barriers, and drive in the same direction as the bus to stop.

However, some states have additional rules about when and where drivers need to be stopped, so drivers need to be aware of local laws.

NSTA Executive Director Curt Macysyn admitted he was a bit envious of the “click or ticket” campaign, which convinced drivers of the importance of seat belts.

“The same thing is needed, especially as the kids are back in school,” Maisin said.

Macysyn provided several reasons why people drive school buses illegally. It is ignorance, distraction, or simply rushing over the laws of their locality.

Technology used to crack down on offenders

The Virginia-based bus patrol, working with school districts and law enforcement in 22 states, is equipped with approximately 40,000 buses for stopped weapons. Goal: We hope to identify offenders, hold them accountable and prevent them from becoming repeatedly criminals. It is a leading provider of stop arm cameras in the country with a market share of around 90%.

The company uses artificial intelligence to identify owners of vehicles that illegally pass buses. Once law enforcement officials reviewed the footage and determined whether a violation occurred, explained Steve Lan Dazzo, the chief growth officer of the Bus Patrol. Bus Patrols handle administrative tasks for each jurisdiction, such as mailing tickets, collecting payments (paying to technology), and help schedule court hearings for disputes.

Since 2017, when the company began equipping its camera buses, bus patrols discovered that 90% of offenders do not repeat the crime, Randazzo said. Before the technology is deployed, the company will work with the community to raise awareness, hold forums to determine where it is needed most, and meet with school staff and PTAs.

“Then community members can use the data to make changes,” he said. “We may add illuminated road signs, move bus stops to safer locations, and strengthen law enforcement patrols in certain areas.”

“There are a lot of people who are distracted,” he added. “Their phones are heads in the clouds… even our cars are designed to distract you. You basically have iPads in many cars.

“Look, we know that kids will become kids, they become stupid and they trust the bus to keep them safe.

In Las Vegas, Tracy Brown May, a member of the Nevada Legislature, worked to get exceptions to the state’s ban on traffic cameras so that bus patrol technology could be added to school buses. Brown May represents around 74,000 Las Vegas residents and as a bicycle and working with disabled adults, she understands how the city built with drivers poses risks to pedestrians, especially children.

“I watched thousands of kids go to school every day, and I watched violations every day,” she said, adding that long, straight, wide roads in the city usually have a speed limit of 45 mph, and drivers often exceed that.

“We have to slow traffic,” she says, partnering with bus patrols to add cameras, “There’s a reason (the driver) will be slower.”

Macysyn, along with the NSTA, said the technology is “not a panacea,” and believes it could become part of a multifaceted approach.

“The best solution I see is a highly visible enforcement campaign,” he said. Officers parked near the bus stop, but admitted that many municipalities do not have the resources to post police every morning and afternoon.

“The toolbox requires a lot of tools,” he said. “But this issue is largely dependent on the masses of the car.”
