ABC Station shooting suspect had a memo criticizing the Trump administration

play

The man accused of shooting at the ABC Affiliate office in Northern California said on September 22 in a handwritten note to the left that criticized the Trump administration and the calendar reminder “do the next horrible thing”:

According to the US Lawyer’s Office for the Eastern District of California, Anibal Hernandez Santana, 64, of Sacramento, California, has been formally charged with owning a firearm inside the school zone, draining a firearm inside the school zone and interfering with a radio communications station. He first appeared in federal court on September 22nd.

Prosecutors accused Hernandez Santana of fired multiple gunshots at an ABC10 television station near downtown Sacramento on September 19th.

The suspect was initially arrested and charged with fatal assault with a weapon, shooting into an occupied building and negligent firearm discharge. He was released on September 20 after posting bail, but prosecutors said the FBI had rebooted Hernandez Santana a few hours later.

Federal claims will be fined up to six years in prison and $260,000, according to the U.S. Lawyer’s Office. The Sacramento District Attorney’s Office confirmed on September 22 that it had filed a state charge against Hernandez Santana, who has been carrying up to 17 years of more serious penalties in state prisons.

“When someone bravely fires on a news station full of people during the day, it’s not only an attack on innocent employees, but an attack on the safety of our news media and our community,” Sacramento County District Attorney Teen Ho said in a statement.

“My office will prosecute this case to ensure full accountability and send a clear message. Violence, intimidation and attacks on the free press have no place in our community or in our society as a whole,” added Ho.

Prosecutor: “Do the next scary thing” note found

The case occurred around local time on September 19th, according to the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office. According to court documents, Hernandez Santana fired one gunshot towards ABC10 station and three shots at the station.

Federal prosecutors alleged that Hernandez Santana fired the first shot “in the air towards the station” while standing on the sidewalk around the block from the station. Prosecutors added that the initial gunshot is within the school zone.

Hernandez Santana then ran towards the front of the station and fired a three-shot into the building’s lobby, prosecutors said. At the time of the shooting, prosecutors said the ABC10 employee was in the lobby but was not injured.

After the incident, law enforcement followed the suspects to a residence that was later identified as belonging to Hernandez Santana, according to the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office. Law enforcement then “run a search for Hernandez Santana people, homes and vehicles,” the U.S. lawyers’ office said.

At Hernandez Santana’s home, authorities discovered a weekly planner with handwritten notes attached to the fridge saying they would “do the next horrible thing,” court documents say.

Authorities found another note in his vehicle, which read, “to hide Epstein and ignore the red flag,” prosecutors said. The memo also said FBI Director Kash Patel, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and Attorney General Pam Bondi did not support them and was “next.”

Mark Reichel, the suspect’s defense counsel, did not respond to USA Today’s request for comment on September 22.

State prosecutors believe the suspect is politically motivated

Ho announced on September 22 that his office had filed felony charges against Hernandez Santana. He noted that his office would require suspects to be taken into custody without bail.

Online inmate records from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office showed Hernandez Santana was held at a major Sacramento County jail and was not eligible for bail. In an interview with ABC10 on September 22, Ho called the suspect a threat to public safety.

The district attorney told the station he believed the agency had “political motivations behind his actions,” adding that law enforcement had found an “anti-Trump Book” next to a handwritten note on Hernandez Santana’s vehicle. The HO did not provide further details as to why the suspect specifically targeted the station and whether it was related to ABC’s decision to stop “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

A day before the shooting, protesters protested outside the station, denounced the announcement of the Walt Disney-owned ABC that Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show “will be pre-determined indefinitely.” The suspension follows anger over the comments the Emmy-winning comedian made on the September 15 episode about the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

On September 17th, Nexstar Media announced that it would not air episodes of Kimmel’s show on ABC’s affiliate stations, and Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr appears to have threatened the network, Disney and Kimmel on commentator Benny Johnson’s YouTube show.

Network officials then announced on September 22 that Kimmel’s suspension would end on September 23. “We had our last day of thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday,” Disney said in a statement to USA Today.

Use this promotion to make money for your next car seat purchase.

play

  • Car seat trade-in saves driver and parent money in a new car seat or other eligible baby gear.
  • These savings can be bundled and used strategically to make expensive car seats more affordable.

According to Personal Finance Publication Kiplinger, baby gear prices are rising. Car seats range from $50 to $800 depending on the brand. What happens when your child outweighs the old car seat?

Americans can trade with discounts on other baby gear and old car seats thanks to events hosted by popular retailers.

What is Target’s Car Seat Interest Event?

Target car seat trading will run from September 21st to October 4th. Participants will receive a 20% discount on car seats after trading on old car seats for recycling purposes. Additionally, discounts can be used to purchase strollers and other baby items.

Although some specific exclusions apply, most new car seats in the target are eligible for a 20% discount via trade-in events. The 20% discount may not seem like that, but some of the Target car seats are over $300. A 20% discount on a car seat that costs over $300 can amount to more than $60 in savings (which could be a huge sum for new parents).

How drivers can take advantage of targeted car seat trade-in events

To claim a 20% discount on Trade-in Event, you must first download the target circle app. The target location has a designation box for drop-off of the car seat. Once you have unloaded the car seat in the box, you can scan the reded code of the drop-off box on the specified car seat via the app.

The redemption code is added to the wallet section of the target app. The code expires on October 18th. It can be redeemed twice in total and can be used for both online and in-store purchases.

Shoppers can save even more by combining a 20% discount with other qualification coupons and promo codes. The target accepts recycling car seats, including expired or damaged seats.

Authorities are looking for passengers on the Carnival Cruise Line who have gone missing in Bonaire.

According to a government news release, Jessica Collins, a 47-year-old American guest sailor at Carnival Horizon, did not return to the ship following the September 17 stop on the Caribbean island.

“Local governments work with public bodies of Bonaire, Port Authority, Tourism Bureau Bonaire, Carnival Cruise Line Security, Ship Security Chiefs and other partners,” the release translated from the Netherlands said. “They are also in direct contact with Carnival Corporation and US authorities.”

Carnival told USA Today that the passenger “hidden all her belongings in her backpack and left a thank-you note to the Stateroom Attendant.”

“The guest then texted members of our care team who were trying to reach her saying she was safe or that she didn’t want to contact her again,” Cruise Line issued an email statement on September 22nd.

Is Leucovorin at the Trump Conference a potential treatment for autism?

0

play

President Donald Trump and his top health aides plan to link common over-the-counter painkillers to autism and appoint another medication as a treatment that could potentially lead to brain development.

Management staff are expected to warn pregnant women against taking acetaminophen, which is often sold under the brand name Tylenol, except in cases of high fever. This warning occurs despite acetaminophen being long considered the safest option for managing headaches, fever and other pains during pregnancy.

Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. of the Department of Health and Human Services, and other Trump administration health officials are also expected to discuss a drug called leucovorin as a potential treatment for autism. But what is that exactly?

What is Leucovorin?

Leucovorin, also known as folinic acid, is a high-dose prescription drug. Leucovorin is currently prescribed to combat toxic effective chemotherapeutic drugs such as methotrexate. It is also used to treat anemia.

Recently, some researchers have been trying to study leucovorin as a possible treatment for autism.

The suggestion that a single drug can counter the effects of autism is undoubtedly controversial. There is no single known cause for autism spectrum disorder. Symptoms and severity vary, so according to Mayo Clinic, there can be many causes.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention Research recently found that one in 31 8-year-olds of 8 people have autism in 2022. In 2000, one in 150 children developed autism. According to the CDC, boys are 3.4 times more likely to be diagnosed.

Kennedy claims that the US has grasped the “autism epidemic” that has been fueled by “environmental toxins.” Decades of research have not provided a solid answer on what contributes to autism, but many scientists believe that genetics plays a potential role in combination with environmental influences. They also say that the increased incidence of autism can be attributed to increased access to diagnostic tools and improved early detection.

Ali Neyman, an assistant professor of health policy and management at Harvard’s School of Public Health, said people who had different diagnoses or diagnoses in previous generations have been diagnosed with autism.

“It’s not a trend, it’s about a better understanding of obstacles that are likely to be present all the time,” Nearman told USA Today.

What does medical research say about leucovorin and autism?

Indian researchers studied folinic acid in a small group of children. One group of 39 children received folinic acid, and a second group of 38 children received a placebo. In a November 2024 survey, children who received drugs had improved scores compared to the placebo group on the child’s autism rating scale. It is used to assess verbal and nonverbal communication, etc.

However, researchers not involved in this study urged caution when evaluating this and other studies on leucovorin as a possible treatment for autism.

Alycia Halladay, Chief Science Officer of the Autism Science Foundation, said:

Halladay said the foundation “doesn’t consider this a treatment for autism.”

Part of the autism community skeptical of simple treatments

Officials with the Autism Awareness Group said they will closely monitor the Trump administration’s scientific claims on autism treatment.

Emily Willingham is the science editor of Thinkers’ Autism Guide, a resource for autism, parents and autism specialists. In a recent post about the group’s newsletter, Willingham detailed why leucovorin is a unlikely treatment for the majority of autism.

Willingham said supporters of the theory believe leucovorin may be separated to supplement folate deficiency in the brains of people with autism. She said that if “mitochondrial deficiency” is associated with autism, administering leucovorin might be a way to improve symptoms. Still, previous studies have shown that under 5% of cases of autism are associated with mitochondrial deficiency, Willingham said.

She fears that promoting leucovorin as a treatment for autism is similar to how some people promoted ivermectin as a covid-19 antidote.

Based on conversations with parents, supporters and others in the autism community, many are skeptical of such simple answers to complex conditions.

Exterior of the Autumnal Equinox

0

On September 22nd, the autumn equinox marking the beginning of a collapse in the Northern Hemisphere will eventually close in the long, hot summer at 2:19pm EDT on Monday. This happens at the exact moment every September, usually on the 22nd or 23rd, when it’s just above the equator.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, our planet appears to be unleading in relation to the Sun. The Earth’s tilt coincides with the cycle around the Sun twice a year in March and September.

People in the Southern Hemisphere, or those south of the equator, are experiencing spring or spring equestrianism, marking the beginning of spring on September 22nd.

Here is the visual guide for equinox:

Earth’s orbit during autumn equinox

The word “equinox” comes from the Latin words “aequalis” and “nox” and means “equal night.” In autumn (and spring) equinox, day and night are around 12 hours in most of the world.

During the autumn equinox, the Earth’s axis is also tilted towards and not far from the sun, bringing about equal amounts of daylight and darkness at all latitudes, according to the National Weather Service.

Can’t view the graphics? Click here to see them.

Day and night are not exactly 12 hours long on micro horse days, as day and night are refracted and bent by the optical illusion of the Earth’s atmosphere exposing more sunlight. Therefore, the exact same day and night date are usually a few days after the autumn equinox.

Seasons and the Earth’s tilt

According to the NASA Earth Observatory, a 23.5-degree angle of the earth axis parallel to orbit causes seasonal changes. The planet’s axis points in the same direction as it rotates around the Sun.

Interesting autumn equinox facts

On September 22nd, the sun rises almost in front of it, setting almost west in most parts of the world, except for the Arctic and Antarctic.

Some people call the autumn equinox the “official” autumn beginning, but no administrative or political organization actually designates it.

In fact, astronomers say summer ends on September 22nd, but meteorologists and climatologists say summer already ended in our hemisphere on August 31st, the last day of the hottest month of the year.

What is the difference between quadratic and bliss?

Breakdown – When day and night are roughly equal – occurs in September and March, marking the astronomical beginnings of autumn and spring in the Northern Hemisphere, respectively.

solistics It occurs in December and June. This marks the beginning of astronomical winter and summer, respectively. The winter solstice occurs when the sun is at the lowest point in the sky, and the summer solstice is when the sun is at the highest point in the sky.

Dark days heading into winter

Our hemispheres are not exposed directly to the sun’s rays due to the tilt of the earth, so the days get darker and shorter as the winter months approach.

The autumn equinox affects many things on the planet.

  • Human Health: Our biological circadian rhythm is influenced by daylight variations, which can lead to confusion in our sleep and mood patterns. For some people, it is possible to be seasonal affective disorder, or sad.
  • Changes in animal behavior: To survive the upcoming winter, many animal species will adapt their feeding patterns and adapt to migration or both, in response to changing light conditions in the equinox.
  • Agricultural Industry: To ensure winter food storage, farmers collect crops according to the timing of autumn equinox.

General Motors CEO Details HQ Move, EV Plans and Hyundai Collaboration

0

play

  • Barra highlighted the challenges to EV production planning amid regulatory and industry hurdles.
  • Barra was introduced to GM’s partnership with Hyundai after meeting with the executive chairman that day.

When General Motors announced its historic move from the Renaissance Center on the Detroit Riverfront to the Woodward Avenue space, CEO Maryborough announced that the new venue will be “a very personal venue for me.”

Growing up in Waterford, Michigan, Rose has favourite memories of Kimuko’s stunning Christmas lights when her family visited the JL Hudson department store.

“My mother takes my siblings and me here and we shop in the store only for the kids. It was this really cool area, smaller than this room you can enter. For me it was my $7 dollars and I would buy Christmas presents without my parents.”

Hudson closed its downtown location in 1983, and in 1998 the building collapsed, leaving vacant ground plots.

On September 11th, Barra said it was the annual industry event for publications held in Hudson’s division on stage at Automotive News Congress. This will feature event space under the new GM Global HQ in the new Hudson Detroit Building.

GM has agreed to the first 15-year multi-level lease on the top office floor of the Woodward building, part of billionaire Dan Gilbert’s Hudson development.

“We wanted to stay in Detroit, and it’s our home, but we also knew how our business was changing and how we did it,” Bala said. “We are excited to work with (Gilbert) and can’t wait to move in January.”

Barra submitted questions about GM’s business outlook and Barra’s reflections on her time leading the biggest Detroit car maker at the auto news event on September 11th.

Barra on GM’s EVS Resilience

Ten years after GM developed a strategy to develop a complete portfolio of electric vehicles across product types, the earthquake issue has repeatedly passed through the industry, putting a burden on the company’s capital.

After a serious restructuring following the automaker’s bankruptcy, “unprecedented events” baffled the industry as GM worked to chart new courses of the US propulsion system that suited global trends well..

“We’ve been through a lot as a country, a world, a country as an industry. You’re thinking about Covid, the semiconductor shortage, the impact it’s had on suppliers. And we’re still working through it while dealing with tariffs and a rather big shift from a regulatory perspective,” Bala said. “Until a year ago, we were on a journey into a regulated environment where we had to drive an EV.”

Customer interest has grown with electric vehicles, she said, but not with clips that are fast enough to justify the original manufacturing plan. GM has repeatedly changed production to meet consumer needs. The balance of vehicle inventory is currently being purchased with appliances that the company invests key capital and plans to premiere.

Part of the challenge was that before deciding which vehicles to produce as gas operations or battery electricity, Bala said, he knew how long the company could postpone.

“In the past few years, if we started a new program, I got the information, ‘OK, when do we really need to decide what we’re doing? And what were the milestones along the way?” and then I said, ‘Yes, I’m going to do that program from internal combustion.’ “You have to do things based on a lot of scenarios.”

GM’s SpringHill manufacturing plant in SpringHill, Tennessee provides a blueprint for the automaker’s flexible strategy, she said. This is because the plant was converted to produce both gasoline-powered vehicles and battery electricity at the same site.

About GM’s Hyundai Partnership

Barra met with Euisun Chung, executive chair of Hyundai Motor Group on September 11th, she said. Chung was also recognized at the Automotive News event.

GM and Hyundai signed a non-binding memorandum in September 2024 to share the vehicle by “reviewing opportunities to review regional procurement opportunities such as battery raw materials, steel and other areas.”

The company said it will jointly develop five vehicles on August 6th. Four of them are targeting the Central and South American markets, and support both internal combustion and hybrid powertrains, as well as one electric van for North America.

Barra did not reveal details of their arguments, but said the relationship moved beyond the memorandum of understanding, and that companies “actually work together.”

“We had a meeting that said we were very productive. I think the automotive industry can do a better job of sharing (research and development) dollars and capital sharing (research and development), especially in areas that face non-customers that don’t distinguish us,” Bala said. “When we started a conversation with Hyundai, we found a partner who shared that view. We approached those looking for victory/winning.”

About vehicle design

Regardless of the propulsion system, GM’s goal, leading in product desirability, has enabled mass sales during the post-crisis crisis, Bala said.

When asked who he believed to be the most influential figure in the automotive industry of the past century, Harley Earl, the industry’s first automotive designer and ancestor of the GM design department, quickly became his 50th year.

“Nothing happens in our business until we sell a vehicle. The vehicle must be beautiful. I’ll give that design team that credit,” Bala said. “We’re not just in the exercise business. We’re part of the fashion business.”

Trump is Jeffreys over the looming shutdown to meet Schumer

Federal funds expire in the middle of the night on September 30th.

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump will meet with two top Democrats in Congress this week, hoping to avoid a quick government shutdown.

The president will sit down with Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hicombe Jeffries on Thursday, September 25th to negotiate government funding, according to anyone familiar with the matter. It has not yet been officially announced, and it was not clear exactly when and where the meeting first reported by Punchbowl News.

The dialogue represents a great opportunity for Democrats and the White House to harmonize their differences and stop the closure after talking to each other in weeks. Government funding expired after more than a week, and the failed vote in the Senate last week neither approached the deal.

Over the past few weeks, Republicans have been in favour of maintaining funding at the current level of government until just before Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, Democrats say they won’t support funding expansions that don’t address healthcare-related demands. Specifically, they want to reverse Medicaid cuts and extend the expired Obamacare subsidies. GOP has refused to move any of these issues so far.

5 Takeout from Trump and RFK Jr. Presser

The president and the health secretary said painkillers increase the risk of autism, but research is unknown and doctors are being pushed back.

play

In the much-anticipated announcement, President Donald Trump and his top health care aides have announced a series of efforts aimed at understanding autism spectrum disorder, urging pregnant women not to take Tylenol unless absolutely necessary.

Trump’s comments included many of his own unconfirmed medical opinions, but outlined specific steps the federal government will take to educate pregnant women with Tylenol and prevent overprescribing.

Officials outlined new potential treatment of autism, which is not widely accepted in the medical community, and said they would spend money on studying environmental factors that contribute to autism.

“It’s not all 100% understood or known, but I think we’ve made a lot of progress,” Trump said.

This is the takeaway.

Trump has repeatedly reiterated the myths about vaccines

Trump has repeatedly filed a request to link autism to a vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella. The myth comes from an article by Andrew Wakefield in 1998, which was retracted by the Lancet in 2010, but still remains popular among vaccine skeptics.

Trump suggested that people will be vaccinated separately against measles, mumps and rubella, without proof that they will separate the vaccine for longer periods.

He said that newborn babies should not receive the hepatitis B vaccine because the virus is typically sexually transmitted. However, he said it could spread hepatitis B and it could affect long-term health.

Trump also called for the removal of mercury and aluminum from the vaccine. Both metals have been studied and considered safe.

Authorities linked autism to the use of Tylenol during pregnancy

Trump recommended that pregnant women avoid taking acetaminophen during pregnancy and take as little as possible doses if they deem necessary “for example, in cases of very high fever.” He said pregnant women should only take Tylenol if they “can’t make it difficult.”

Over 20 studies have worldwide suggested a link between the use of acetaminophen in pregnant mothers and the use of acetaminophen in mothers of children diagnosed with autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in later years. However, there were also research that exposed the link. In other words, there is no solid link to this drug.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., secretary to the Department of Health and Human Services, admitted that there is no practical alternative to taking Tylenol during pregnancy, as other pain reliefers have been proven to be harmful. Therefore, he said he advised his doctors to prescribe acetaminophen to pregnant women only at the lowest possible dose, only for the shortest possible period of time, if treatment is required.

Food and Drug Director, Dr. Martin McCurry, has announced that his agency will approve a new label warning pregnant women about potential health effects.

Medicaid covers new treatments for autism

Dr. Mehmet Oz, head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said Medicaid, a public health insurance program that covers about half of American children, will begin covering prescription treatment for autism with leucovorin. Oz said he hopes private health insurance companies, who often follow what public health insurance companies do, will follow suit.

Leucovorin is prescribed for chemotherapy patients and anemia, but a November study in India found that children with autism are better on the drug than the placebo group. Alycia Halladay, chief science officer of the Autism Science Foundation, told USA Today that her organization does not consider Leucovorin to treat autism.

Oz said children still need prescriptions from their own doctors who know their health history to receive FDA-approved treatment.

Psychiatrists and Tylenol makers are being pushed back

Tylenol maker Kambo has issued the following statement that pushed the Trump administration back: “Independent science clearly shows that taking acetaminophen does not cause autism.

The American Psychiatric Association hit a similar chord in their statement:

“Vaccinations do not cause autism, and claims of such association have been repeatedly trusted in peer-reviewed studies.

“Autism is a complex disorder and it is wrong to imply that a small number of studies have established causal relationships. Strong evidence shows that acetaminophen is safe for use during pregnancy.

“Leucovorin (folinic acid) is not the recommended treatment for autism. More research is needed before we know whether leucovorin is the right treatment for autistic individuals.”

There is no single scientifically resolved cause of autism yet

Scientists have linked a number of genetic and environmental factors to autism. This is a neurodevelopmental disorder that can manifest itself in a wide range of social and communication difficulties, but there is no single cause of autism agreed in the scientific community.

Trump has announced that the National Institutes of Health will issue a new grant to study the root causes of autism. Kennedy criticized previous research from the National Institutes of Health for focusing too much on genetic causes instead of environmental factors.

“It’s like studying the genetic causes of lung cancer without seeing cigarettes,” Kennedy said.

Volkswagen and Porsche have reached $7 billion EV overhaul fallout

0

play

Investors punished German sports car brand Porsche P911_P.DE, warning on Monday that this year’s profits will be erosed by delays in EV rollouts after getting caught up in the transition to iconic Gasler and electric vehicles.

Porsche stocks exceeded 7% on Monday after cutting EV rollouts and profit margin guidance on Friday due to lower demand, pressure on China’s key markets and rising US tariffs.

The misery of automakers points to a broader challenge as peers in the European sector are trying to navigate the global EV shift. This is especially true for luxury brands like Porsche, with a fierce price war and a slower Chinese economy eroding demand.

Volkswagen, the parent company, a leading European manufacturer, said it would require a hit of 5.1 billion euros ($6 billion) from overhauling the product. The delay will cut Porsche’s operating profit by up to 1.8 billion euros this year.

Volkswagen Vowg_p.de stock fell 7.5% on track on its biggest slide since 2023.

Porsche’s profitability targets shrink due to EV demand

Porsche expects profit margins to be below 2% in 2025, down from the 5% to 7% range previously.

Some analysts thought that as EV demand was declining, they reduced guidance because pressure on Porsche to extend the life of their combustion engines inevitably.

Automotive executives have urged Brussels to ease that goal and claim it is no longer feasible, but a ban on the sale of new combustion engine cars in 2035 is looming in the European Union.

Porsche said it expects a positive impact on the medium to long term, with sales returns of 10-15% after 18% in 2023 and 14% in 2024.

As of the list three years ago, the company was looking for sales of more than 20% over the long term.

Since then, Porsche’s stock has lost almost half its value, and Bernstein analysts have pointed out that billions of euros to the shift to EVs have not brought credible challengers to top players like Tesla.

“Resetting your product program takes time and money, providing the flexibility and drivetrain options that customers are demanding,” Bernstein said in a note to investors.

Fix “mistakes” of overdependence on EVs

Volkswagen, which owns 75.4% of Porsche, previously reduced its profit margin outlook from 2% to 3% from 4% to 5%.

Jefferies analysts said that while a revision of Porsche’s outlook (third so far this year) may be the last, it was warned that it could pose product cycle and brand challenges.

Analysts said they are expecting losses in the second half as many of Porsche’s 1.8 billion euro claims are possible in the third quarter.

One local equity trader said strategic decisions were “inevitable” and warned that the company is relying too much on electric vehicles.

“It takes time to correct a previous mistake that we rely on EVS,” the trader said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The issues with Porsche and Volkswagen have encouraged Oliver Bloom’s shareholders and unions, ending the dual role of CEOs of both companies.

The autism community responds to Trump administrator’s claims about Tylenol

0

play

The Trump administration announced on Monday, September 22, that it discovered the “answer to autism” — claims experts, advocacy groups, and the autism community call it dangerous and regressive.

Trump announced plans to uncover the possible causes of autism spectrum disorder at a memorial rally for conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 21, telling commemorative visitors, “You think it’s amazing.”

At a press conference, Trump, alongside Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) RFK Jr. and other officials, argued that the use of Tylenol during pregnancy could contribute to the development of autism in children.

The Trump administration has repeatedly argued about plans to find the “cause” of autism despite decades of medical and scientific consensus. Without evidence, Kennedy argued that the country has a “preventable” and “autism epidemic” that is fuelled by “environmental toxins.”

Trump and his advisors also reportedly have RFK Jr., a Leucovorin drug, a potential treatment for autism, reportedly considering rapid pursuits for FDA approval.

The simplification of complex developmental differences that exist in many different abilities and experience spectra are dangerous at worst and dangerous at worst to autism experts, advocacy groups, and community members.

“The claim that Tylenol causes autism has been shown to cause autism by real scientific research… autism is a very complex neurodevelopmental condition,” said Dr. Sara Rodriguez, executive director of the Balance Toding Learning Center, which provides coaching, advocacy and treatment, a nonprofit for people with autism and the nervous system. “Genetics is known to play a huge role, and environmental factors are thought to interact with genetic predispositions. If we omit that complexity, policy, funding and healthcare are misunderstood.”

“The announcement is a misreading of data,” said Noor Pervez, Community Engagement Manager for the Autism Self-Advocacy Network (ASAN). “The way RFK Jr. talks about autism is actively dehumanized and promotes stigmatization against people with autism.”

The cause of autism is unknown, but genetics plays an important role

Although the study found one widely accepted, solid answer to factors contributing to autism, the general consensus supported by organizations such as the CDC and Asan is that it is primarily based on genetics. People with autism are more likely to have children with autism, and the increase in autism diagnosis over the past decades has essentially not shown to be “prevalence” in the past – rather, it may be attributed to increased access to diagnostic tools and improvements for early detection.

Still, there are many things we don’t know, some of which can be traced back to the history of research and rhetoric that the current administration is currently echoing – focusing on a single “cause” and “treatment.”

“Most federal research funding on autism for most of its history is focused on autism treatment. The autistic community has not benefited from treatment research and is actively harming people with autism who exist,” Pervez said.

And while focusing on “cause” or “treatment” may sound positive when heard by people from outside the community as they pass, that rhetoric can be dangerous when medications like Recovorin are pushed without rich scrutiny without rich scrutiny, as well as cutting off research that can help improve the lives of people with disabilities in adulthood, old age and even more.

“From bleach to chelates that RFK Jr. has a long and troubling history of people exercising “miraculous treatments” for autism. “These treatments didn’t work and had dangerous and sometimes fatal side effects. It’s very important that we know it works and is safe before people with autism are encouraged to take the medication.”

In some cases, it can lead to negative health outcomes before a child is born, Rodriguez said.

“If the government describes this as a specific cause or a major risk factor, many pregnant people may feel guilty or uneasy because illness, pain or fever is common during pregnancy,” she said. “They may avoid the medical care they need or suffer from untreated fever.

“It feels like we’ve regressed very badly.”

Shannon Rosa, senior editor of Thinkers’ Autism Guide, said different autism groups disagree about many things, but agreed that the White House’s latest claims are pointless.

“As they constantly demonstrate, they are not interested in actual science, so we feel very frightening and deliberately regressed by the administration,” she said. “They are not interested in research, they are not interested in the welfare of people with autism and their families. They are only interested in what people who whisper to their ears say they should.”

Pushing forward the idea that taking Tylenol during pregnancy will bring autism back to past pseudo-science, she blames her mother for having a neurotic child, she said. Rodriguez agreed.

“From the fridge mother to the vaccine to the formula, if you notice it, a lot of the blame is on your mother,” Rodriguez said. “This is nothing new. For decades, autism has been explained through scapegoing, including sophisticated parenting, wrong feeding, wrong choices, wrong medical decisions. The target changes, but the underlying message is the same… Autism is your fault and you should feel guilty.”

Access, respect and support are essential, not responsibility, supporters say.

He said that not only promotes the sense of shame that many families with disabilities have already worked on for social pressure and judgment, but also segregates, alienates and discourages people from networks and resources that can provide support and community.

“As a parent of autistic adults with high support, I also came from outside the disability community and was initially terrified because I didn’t have the correct information,” his son said he was diagnosed when he was diagnosed during the now disproven and the cultural peak of the retracted theory that vaccines cause autism. “I’m very frightening for all parents who were with young children who had a new autism diagnosis, like 20 years ago… putting a family like 20 years ago in an inevitable tail spin.”

“When my teenager was younger, we were told the ‘truth’ that gave me a lot of fear about him,” added Rodriguez, a nervous mother herself and an autistic teenage parent. “He was told he never had relationships, friendships, meaningful communication. He was told he could never think creatively or independently. This kind of rhetoric brings us back to this point.”

He said progress has been made after years of work and advocacy. However, disinformation undermines systematic change and advocacy of attention and resources from what really improves the quality of life for all, including support, services, accommodation, rights and more.

“Autism’s life is worth living – it means non-spacing, people with higher support needs, people of color. It means everything. “The way the world is structured can make it difficult for people with disabilities, including us – that doesn’t mean that autism will put a burden on you. Needing help doesn’t mean you’re a bad person.

Following the show’s halt of comments about host Jimmy Kimmel’s death, Disney says, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” I’ll be back in the air on Tuesday, September 23rd.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” less than a week later, he returned to television after the Walt Disney Company announced that it had pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show into the air due to controversial comments about Charlie Kirk’s death.

“Last Wednesday, we decided to suspend production of the show to avoid further inflammatory tension in our country’s emotional moments,” Disney issued a statement to USA Today on Monday, September 22nd. “This is a decision we made because some of the comments felt badly timed and therefore insensitive. We spent our last day having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

Walt Disney-owned ABC said on September 17th that it will suspend the broadcast of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” indefinitely. After late-night host comments about Kirk’s murder were fired from the head of the Federal Communications Commission.

Kimmel has not commented publicly since the show stopped. USA Today reached out to Kimmel representatives and ABC for further comment.

What did Jimmy Kimmel say?

On Monday in his monologue on September 15th, Kimmel commented:

Since then, Utah prosecutors have been charged with 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with worsening murder, felony discharge of firearms, obstructing justice, and tampering with eyewitnesses. His exact motive remains unknown, and according to court documents, Robinson’s mother told police that over the past year or so, “it began to lean more left.”

FCC chair Brendan Kerr appeared to have threatened ABC, Disney and Kimmel over a monologue about his late-night host Kirk on a YouTube episode of Comenny Johnson’s show on September 17th.

“This is a very serious problem for Disney right now. We can do this in an easy or difficult way,” Kerr said.

Jimmy Kimmel Suspension Causes Anger and Celebration

Kimmel’s late-night show halt caused widespread outrage among Kimmel’s famous friends and supporters, from David Letterman to former President Barack Obama. Free speech advocates have expressed concern over the first amendment rights after the suspension and the cancellation of the July “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” (the final show scheduled for May 2026).

Kimmel critics, including President Trump, were often criticized on shows, but were celebrating the recent removal of hosts from the airwaves.

“American great news: The reviews to challenge the Jimmy Kimmel Shaw will be cancelled,” Trump wrote in his Truth and Social Explanation on September 18th.

Reaction to Jimmy Kimmel’s Return

Carr’s FCC colleague Anna M. Gomez, the only Democrat on the committee and an outspoken critic of Kimmel’s suspension, celebrated the ABC’s decision to bring back the hosts.

“I’m happy to see Disney find its courage in the face of clear government threats,” Gomez said in a statement to CNN. This was thanks to the Americans, “from the whole spectrum of ideology that spoke loudly and bravely for this blatant attempt to silence freedom of speech.”

Prominent Trump critic California Governor Gavin Newsom thanked “everyone except @brendancarrfcc” on his X account. “This is a victory for free speech everywhere,” Newsom wrote.

Jimmy Kimmel Return Date

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Disney’s statement said it will return on Tuesday, September 23rd.

However, in a statement to USA Today on Monday, September 22nd, a representative from Sinclair said, “From Tuesday night, Sinclair will be “Jimmy Kimmel Live!

It is still unknown if Nexstar will do the same thing.

RFK Jr. links autism with Tylenol. Who owns Tylenol, what is Kemb?

Kenvue Stock plunged sharply on Friday, September 5th. This reports that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. proposes a link between autism and the company’s use of Tylenol medication by pregnant women.

Tylenol, a popular over-the-counter painkiller with an active ingredient in acetaminophen, is made by Johnson & Johnson spin-off Kambo. First, the company moved its global headquarters to New Jersey, where it cut ribbons for the new location along with Gov. Philmurphy and then CEO Thibeaumontgon.

The RFK Jr. autism report, touted by President Donald Trump’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative, is expected to be released this month, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

Kenvue told the WSJ in a statement that he “continuously evaluates science and believes there is no causality” between acetaminophen, pregnancy and autism. Kenvue added that there is information provided by the FDA and major healthcare providers “consent the safety” of the drug, their use in pregnancy, and Tylenol labels. The FDA website says it has found no “clear evidence” that proper use of acetaminophen during pregnancy can lead to pregnancy, birth, neurobehavior, or developmental outcomes.

Who is Kamb, where are they, and what is their history with Tylenol?

Who makes Tylenol?

Tylenol is created by Kemboo, a company that was spun from Johnson & Johnson in 2023. However, the brand was first introduced in 1955 by the McNeill Institute. In 1959, Johnson & Johnson acquired McNeill, and a year later Tylenol became available at the counter.

What is Kemb?

Kenvue is an American consumer health company and was previously the consumer health department of Johnson & Johnson. It is a manufacturer of dozens of brands of consumer products, including Band Aid, Neutrogena, Listerine, Abeno and Benadrill.

Kemb of Summit, New Jersey

This year, Kenvue moved its global headquarters to the summit and opened its 290,000 square feet of facility on March 19, 2025.

Kenvue’s previous global headquarters was in Skillman. Kemb has a 135-year history in New Jersey.

Who is Kenvue CEO?

Kirk Perry was appointed interim CEO of Kenvue on July 14, 2025. Perry replaced Thibaut Mongon, who resigned as the company’s chief executive and left the board during an internal review of the company’s business.

The country recognizes the Palestinian state. What does that mean?

0

play

Over the past two days, several Western countries announced they were recognizing an independent Palestinian state just weeks before the second anniversary of Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza.

On Sunday, September 21, the UK, Canada, Australia and Portugal announced on Monday, September 22 that France will then officially recognize the Palestinian state. Belgium, Luxembourg and Malta are expected to do the same this week. Globe’s top leaders are expected to do the same this week as the ongoing issue of the Israeli Hamas War, hunger in Gaza and the push issues between several countries of two-state solutions dominate many agendas.

Palestinian territory covers the Israeli-occupied Jordan River, including East Jerusalem, which Palestinians consider to be their capital and Gaza.

These latest decisions have led to the majority of European countries, as well as many of the world’s largest Western countries, now recognizing Palestinian states. It is the meaning of recognizing this formal state and the ability to inform it that it will move forward.

What does official state mean, and what are the requirements?

Rowan Nicholson, an international law scholar at Flinders University in Australia, told USA Today in 2024 that four standards are usually needed for a region to qualify as a nation.

Nicholson said the state’s conditions are at the same time rather strict and a matter of debate.

“This standard has developed over the centuries through state practice,” said Nicholson, who has worked on the case before the International Court of Justice. “There is no single, written version of them. They are vague and open to interpretation.”

He said there are exceptions, such as when the group illegally invaded existing states and separated parts of it as Russia tried to do it with Ukraine a few years ago.

In the Palestinian context, one reason why Palestine can qualify as a nation is that it lacks effective independence from Israel, as defined by the frequently cited 1933 Treaty of Montevid and other similar formulations.

Israeli forces occupy Palestine lands. Israel oversaw several civilian aspects of life in the West Bank run by Fatah, and even before the present war, it largely dominated access to Hamaslan Gaza.

What is the importance of the nation to Palestinians?

Some countries officially recognize the other is a diplomatic and legal movement in an effective sense. It opens the door to building full diplomatic relations between two countries, which could include the establishment of embassies, foreign ambassadors, the creation of various agreements, treaties, and other forms of bilateral or multilateral cooperation.

“Regardless of whether an entity actually meets the standard or not, a recognized nation promises to treat it as a state for practical purposes,” Nicholson said.

This means that he accepts a passport, grants sovereign immunity to civil servants, and acts as if a generally recognized entity had the right to control its own territory.

Beyond diplomatic and bureaucratic meanings, perceptions can hold considerable symbolic weight. French European Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barott said his country’s decision this week was “a symbolic and immediate political decision demonstrating France’s commitment to a solution for the two states.”

“The perception of Palestinians is a categorical rejection of Hamas and its decisive isolation,” Barott told ITV News, a report from Reuters ahead of the official announcement of France.

Law scholars such as Mark Weller, chair of international law and constitutional studies at Cambridge University, told USA Today in May 2024 that “recognized countries will change their status (in Palestinian). Should Becoming a state to our entities Claim It’s a nation.”

“It makes it even more difficult for Israel to deny (Palestine) to become a state. The recognition is deliberately framed to oppose Prime Minister Netanyahu’s claim that a solution for the two states cannot exist,” he said.

How many countries recognize the Palestinian state?

According to the UN’s Western European Regional Information Center, 148 of the 193 UN member states had already recognized independent Palestine by this week. Ireland, Norway and Spain joined the list of countries supporting the state in May 2024, followed by Slovenia, Armenia and Mexico a few months later.

A recent addition on September 22 brought the number of UN member states officially announced their support for the Palestinian state to 153.

Palestine was recognized as a UN Observer state in November 2012, and in 1988 Palestine was created by the Palestinian Liberation Agency. Since then, there has been what the nation calls “waves” when the UN Centre was first established.

Palestinian national perception and the United States

The United States does not recognize the Palestinian state, and President Donald Trump is opposed to the move.

The United States was one of the first countries to recognize Israel as an independent state in 1948. It is the main supplier of Israeli weapons. American diplomats have habitually framed Israel as the only democratic and security partner in the Middle East that shares values and interests with America.

In May 2024, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring that Palestinians qualify for full UN membership status. Congress may only grant full membership with the approval of the Security Council. This is a move that the US is likely to reject.

Larry Gerber, former US committee body for the West Bank and Gaza, said last year that the US had long thought that formal recognition of the Palestinian state should only come through direct negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.

“For many years, we all operated on the theory that this should be done in stages,” Gerber said. “First, Palestine needs to build a variety of national attributes, including good governance and an effectively operated independent economy. The state will then become the ultimate goal.”

Germany and France have reflected this position in the past, but now there are no more two European powers on the same side of the issue. Germany has not recently signaled that it intends to recognize an independent Palestinian state as France has. This leaves Germany and Italy as the remaining large European countries that have not been added to the gust of EU member states’ approval.

Katmai’s Guide to Burly Battle

0

play

This is the most difficult challenge of the year.

Fat Bear Week starts on September 23rd.

Every year, the furious Bears and parents of Katmai National Park attract global attention with the Madness-style Bracket Challenge in March, as fans choose bears to advance in each round.

“The Bears have been working hard all season to get fat,” Katmai park ranger Sarah Bruce told USA Today.

There is a good reason. For them, bulging is a matter of life and death.

Here are the reasons you should know about Fat Bear in 2025 and what else you should know.

When is Fat Bear Week?

Fat Bear Week will be running from September 23rd to September 30th.

Every day, from noon to 9pm, fans can vote for picks on the event’s website.

Over 1 million votes were voted last year.

What kind of bears do you have in Katmai?

Katmai is known for its iconic brown bear, but its health is essentially linked to a different species, Sockeye Salmon.

“We still have these intact ecosystems in this region where we can run the world’s most sustainable socky salmon, and humans still manipulate and develop in the ecosystem to suit their needs.

“There’s so much to learn about Katmai, and the bear is just the tip of the iceberg.”

Which bears do you have at Fat Bear Week?

This year’s contestants are mixed with favourites and new competitors returning.

“It’s really great on the Brooks River. The same Bears come back every year. It’s part of their home range and there were big players who were in competitions that seemed really good for this year,” Bruce said.

Without confirming who would make the cut, she admitted that fans were looking for bears like 128, nicknames called Glazer and 32.

“He had a jaw injury this year, so seeing him still fat despite his injuries is like ‘good for you’,” she said. “We then have some new bears that we haven’t seen their entire story unfold in the river before, but it was in the river like almost every season this year. … They look very fat.

Who won the 2024 Fat Bear?

Grazer won Fat Bear Week Week in 2024 and 2023.

Bruce pointed out that he was the first female bear to raise a turnip when the 128 wins.

Why do bears become so thick?

To prepare for hibernation, the Bears pack pounds. They need fat reserves to survive the long winter.

“Now they’re in a stage called hyperphagia, where the hormones in their bodies were turned off to tell them they’re full,” Bruce said. “They can’t feel fulfilled no matter how much they eat, so they just keep eating.”

That fat is especially important for women and sows.

“A female bear only gets a successful pregnancy if there is enough fat,” Bruce said, explaining that fertilized eggs don’t even plant them unless there is enough fat to maintain their pregnancy. “We have a lot of really fat, heavy single women right now, so we’re hoping for a bit of a turnip boom in the spring.”

Why do bears on the Brooks River become thicker than other bears in Katmai National Park?

During the summer, Brooks River Falls offers a true buffet.

“There’s a salmon school out there. It’s really easy to pick up for the bear,” Bruce said.

With so many fish, it is not uncommon to see lonely bears cleaning relatively close to the waterfall.

But what’s unusual this year is the abundance of salmon, and in its bounty, “We’ve seen a lot of plays, even from the elderly boar,” or the male bear said, Bruce said.

She noted that most salmon runs have ended, but there are still many dead and dying fish, berries and other fish in the river for bears to clean up.

Procter & Gamble Reconstruction Description: See what’s been cut

play

  • Procter & Gamble plans to cut 7,000 jobs, accounting for 6.4% of the workforce over the next two years.
  • P&G reviews product portfolios and geographical presence with potential brand sales and market exits.
  • The acquisition is expected to play a key role in job cuts and is targeted at high-paying employees who are close to retirement.

With the aim of revitalizing growth, Procter & Gamble has vowed to cut 7,000 jobs by mid-2027.

This is what happens.

A closer look at the disclosures and past restructuring of the Cincinnati-based consumer giant provides insight into the reduction in targets, lean pressures, and the dangers they may face if sales do not bounce back.

  • At the end of P&G’s major restructuring, most job cuts were acquisitions. Possible targets: Generation X, born between 1965 and 1980.
  • So far, P&G shows that you want to create a trim. The cuts for that last round began small, but deeper after the previous round failed to achieve a conversion.
  • With the next new CEO and other management shift, more changes could occur at the top.
  • The company said some brands might go, but it’s not clear which brand or which brand is what.

What do you look for:

Summary: What P&G has revealed so far

P&G first announced plans to cut jobs at an investor meeting in Paris on June 5 after recording a decline in sales growth rates for over a year.

Cut represents 6.4% of the 109,000 employees worldwide from the Cincinnati-based consumer giant. The pending ghosts of employment cuts are heavy in their homeland. It employs 10,000 people, primarily targets of planned cuts.

It’s not difficult to see why P&G is cutting jobs. Slowing sales puts a lot of pressure on P&G. In the past, the company has targeted activist hedge fund investors who have even emerged as having to cut costs, sell the brand, and have broken the company to jumpstart growth.

Key indicators known as organic sales (excluding the impact of forex and mergers and acquisitions) have increased by just 1% or 2% per quarter since the spring of 2024.

In June, P&G said they had plans. We were sure we could accelerate sales with new product innovations in our pipeline, but we’ll have to invest in them to find money from the cut.

“The need to accelerate investment in growth has accelerated the need for productivity,” CEO Shailesh Jejurikar told investors.

So far, P&G has revealed cuts targeting “non-manufacturing roles” at its 99 factories, including 24 in the US, but the company says it will cut non-plant employment by 15%.

P&G said the cuts would include cutting out some product offerings and perhaps even selling out the brand. However, in a July update, P&G only disclosed disclosures, including narrowing down a variety of female pads in Asia and trimming the company’s international product offerings for its oral care, fabric care and grooming business.

Finally, I remember that P&G was reconstructed

The June announcement recalls P&G announced a massive restructuring at its investment conference held in Boca Raton, Florida in February 2012.

At that meeting, P&G officials announced plans to cut more than 4% of their 5,700 workers or 129,000 employees.

However, P&G’s plans overwhelmed at least one investor: Bill Ackman, Pershing Square Capital Head, acquired $3 billion worth of company stock a few months later, “bloatting” P&G and demanded a major change.

After several months of maneuvering, then Bob McDonald retired in the spring of 2013, and P&G revived and cleaned his predecessor, Ag Lafley. In 2014, Lafrey announced a string of sales of major brands, including IAMS Pet Food, Duracell Battery, and more than 40 beauty brands spun into another company in 2015.

P&G is reduced more deeply when sales don’t bounce

Still, P&G continued to cut sales as they struggled to improve.

In 2017, Trian Partners head Nelson Peltz denounced P&G’s “suffocating bureaucracy” and called for a “flat” organization with fewer management layers before leading one of the biggest proxy fights in corporate history. The company has abandoned thousands more jobs, to 92,000 more since at least the early 1990s.

The company ultimately cut 37,000 jobs from acquisitions and divestment between 2011 and 2018.

Is it mainly shopping? Generated X gets x

A closer look at the previous restructuring of P&G in the 2010s reveals that nearly two-thirds of job cuts have been acquired. Money paid to employees to leave voluntarily. As typical, offers were based on salary and service duration. The company has said goodbye to nearly 22,000 workers, spending more than $2.5 billion, averagering more than $110,000 per employee.

Can P&G achieve the 7,000 job cuts it seeks primarily through acquisitions? The final round of restructuring suggests that it is possible. Over 20,000 workers were paid to leave the company annually by around 3,000 people.

Workers born between 1965 and 1980 will become major candidates for the acquisition as Gen X employees between the ages of 45 and 60 are closer to retirement at a higher salary.

P&G looks at its market, products and brands

P&G has increased the likelihood of selling the brand, but so far they have either stuck with trimming their products or “simplified their portfolio” as explained by current CEO and chairman Jon Moeller.

Specifically, the CEO noted that P&G is considering reviewing individual markets and withdrawing “several categories, brands, and product forms.” This shows that P&G is looking at a map of countries where sales are slow or disappointed.

International markets could be scrutinized in large numbers for cuts as the US, China, Japan, Canada and Western Europe revealed last year that organic sales growth rates were only 2% and “enterprise market” growth was only 1%. P&G has previously left the entire country. Last year, in 2023, it closed its operations in Argentina and Nigeria.

Also get a meticulous look: P&G’s brands and categories are the slowest. When P&G announced the cut, it noted that organic sales performance was disclosed in all 10 product categories for the first nine months of fiscal year 2025.

Among the categories where P&G is stalling was the baby care business (Pampers Diaper Sales), which has 2% slide in sales. Its skin and personal care units (deodorizers, soaps, moisturizers) were on sale.

Can I sell the brand?

So, will P&G cuts lead to sales of home brands?

P&G has chopped up big brands from its roster in the past, but not all sales are flashy or affecting the company’s global customer base. In June, P&G officials hinted at the previous sale of the Vidal Sasson business in China in 2024, as an example of a small sale.

For now, analysts are waiting for details before making predictions.

In a note to investors on July 29, Morningstar analyst Erin Rush characterized the P&G reorganization as “surgical.”

“P&G has revealed its intention to surgically streamline the selection area of product/geographic mix and change the organizational structure composition,” writes Rush. “We see each of these efforts as an opportunity to strengthen that focus.”

There is a leadership shuffle as talent starts at all levels

The expected details regarding the P&G restructuring were announced in late July one day before the CEO’s company’s succession plan.

P&G said the next number one executive will now be second in the current position. Shailesh Jejurikar, 58.

However, when P&G lists new CEOs, the company is inevitably seeing senior managers leave the country. Many may have a dim outlook for top work.

Sure enough, on August 12th, P&G’s beauty business CEO Alexandra Keith (57), announced his retirement in early 2026 after being once a potential future leader for the entire company.

Freddie Balcha, the current president of the personal care department in beauty, was tapped to take over her.

There could be more retirements approaching among top P&G executives.

Supreme Court to decide whether Trump can fire independent board members

0

The court said Trump could fire the only Democrat on the Federal Trade Commission for now. The judiciary said it could fire the only Democrat on the Federal Trade Commission to decide whether to overturn a century ago ruling that protects the head of independent bodies.

play

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court will revisit a nearly century-old ruling protecting the heads of independent bodies that President Donald Trump has repeatedly challenged as he seeks greater control over the government.

On September 22, the court took the rare step of agreeing to take up the matter before the lower courts finish the measurement. Justice will hear the debate in December.

The court also said Trump could now fire the massacre of Rebecca, the only Democrat on the Federal Trade Commission. The decision came amid the court’s three liberal justice challenges.

The High Court supported the constitution that fell into a 1935 decision on Humphrey’s Enforcer vs. the United States, preventing members of the Federal Trade Commission from being fired for no reason.

However, the courts have not yet overturned that precedent.

“The majority may fail to take that action,” Judge Elena Kagan wrote, opposing her colleague’s decision to force Trump to commit the massacre for now. “However, until the act was complete, Humphrey’s control prevented the majority from giving the President unlimited removal powers.”

The lower courts relied on a 1935 decision when controlling slaughter could remain in the FTC.

However, the Justice Department argued that the committee had changed since 1935 and now appears to be the National Labor Relations Commission and other agencies that the Supreme Court has not protected it from an expanded view of Trump’s enforcement authorities.

“In this case, the lower courts again ordered the reinstatement of high-level officers who exercise large-scale enforcement authority, not to exercise significant rulemaking and enforcement authority,” Attorney General John Sauer told the Supreme Court.

Sauer also urged the court to clearly determine that protections were unconstitutional “due to the cause” in order to stop the judge from blocking Trump’s shootings.

On September 8, the court temporarily suspended a lower court ruling to give the judiciary more time to consider Trump’s request.

The massacre lawyer told the court that if he lays aside Trump’s urgent demands, the Federal Trade Commission would “have serious injuries and fundamentally transformed.” They said that allowing members to be fired for any reason would damage aspects of the committee at the heart of their mission, including bipartisanship, staggered conditions, accumulation of experience and expertise-driven decision-making.

“If the President is given new authority, if Congress expressly refuses to grant him repeatedly, the decision should come from the elected representatives of the people,” they wrote. “At least, such a wide-ranging decision to reverse the congressional policy decisions considered should not be made on emergency dockets.”

However, the genocide lawyers agreed with the administration that the fundamentals of the constitutionality of the requirement that FTC members cannot be removed, except for “inefficient, neglect of duty, or misconduct.”

“It’s by chance to quickly resolve doubts about the constitutionality of traditional independent institutions,” they said.

The FTC aims to protect its citizens from deceptive or unfair business practices. Each of the five commissioners serves a seven-year term, with no more than three members not allowed to become the same party.

The massacre was one of two Democrat commissioners Trump tried to fire in March. Another Alvaro Bedoya has since withdrawn from legal challenges.

No disease has been reported so far, but the FDA said it is actively investigating reports of cesium 137 (CS-137) contamination in shipping containers and frozen shrimp products processed by Indonesia’s Pt. Bahari Makmur Sejati (doing business as BMS Foods).

Food officials said in August that “no products tested positive or warned about cesium 137 (CS-137) have participated in US commercial transactions.”

pt. Maritime Makmur Sejati has been placed under import warning

pt. Bahari Makmur Sejati also suffers from import warnings for chemical pollution. This prevents company food from entering the US until it resolves conditions that could cause exposure.

The FDA is working with Indonesia’s seafood regulators to investigate the cause of the contamination, USA Today previously reported.

What should I do if I remember shrimp?

If you purchase one of the affected shrimp packages, please do not throw it away and eat it or serve it, the FDA notice states. Customers may also return the purchase location for a full refund.

Customers can also contact the company Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm at 1-800-331-3440 if they have questions.

Anyone who fears they are exposed to rising cesium levels should contact their healthcare provider immediately. Consumers can visit the FDA’s industry and consumer support portal to file a complaint or report adverse reactions.

What is Cesium 137 (CS-137)? Why is it regulated?

CS-137 is a radioactive same-sex material of cesium. In other words, it is a chemical element that emits radiation when it fails. According to the FDA, they are humans created and produced by nuclear fission. In the United States, it is used in medical devices and measuring gauges, including industrial devices that measure material thickness.

“This is also one of the by-products of the nuclear fission process in nuclear reactor and nuclear weapons testing,” the EPA said.

As it is spreading around the world, trace quantities can be found in the environment, including soil, food and air, the FDA said. The FDA and agencies including the US Customs and Border Protection test, monitor and regulate the presence of substances due to risks associated with long-term exposure.

Low levels of radiation exposure over time can lead to serious health complications, the FDA said. Exposure to CS-137 alone can cause burns, acute radiation disease, cancer and death. As a result, agencies limit potential exposures and reduce the likelihood of these long-term effects.

Trump on new Pentagon press restrictions: “Nothing will stop reporters”

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump appears to be different from war secretary Pete Hegses on new restrictions on Pentagon reporters.

In a comment to a reporter on September 21, the president indicated that the Pentagon should not decide whether the press can or cannot report it.

According to a 17-page document obtained by USA Today, Trump’s statement contradicts the new rules issued by Hegses and the Pentagon and the new rules and pentagons issued by reporters issued by the Pentagon. The document points out that “even if the information is uncategorized, it is necessary to make it public for public public servants to be made public.”

The memo also states that reporters engage in “non-professional conduct that could help disrupt the Pentagon’s operations” and can revoke their qualifications, including “an attempt to obtain them improperly” or “physical ownership of classified national security or controlled, uncategorized information.”

When asked if the Pentagon was responsible for determining what reporters could report a few days after the rules were announced, Trump told reporters, “No, I don’t think so.”

“Listen, there’s nothing to stop reporters,” he added.

But in a X post on September 19th, Hegses said, “The ‘media’ doesn’t run through the pentagon – people do. The media is no longer allowed to roam the halls of safe facilities. Wear badges and follow the rules – or go home.”

National Press Club President Mike Balsamo wrote in a statement that the new Pentagon’s mission is “a direct attack on independent journalism where independent scrutiny is most important.”

“If news about our military must be first approved by the government, the people are no longer receiving independent reports. It’s getting just what officials want to see. It should be on the alert for all Americans,” Balsamo said. He called for the restrictions to be lifted.

In January, the Pentagon removed several major news organizations, including NBC News, from its workspace after enacting a new “annual media rotation program.”
