With President Donald Trump scheduled to speak at the UN General Assembly, the Secret Service announcement on the suspect plot of NYC has come.

play

The Secret Service said it has thwarted a telecommunications network of tens of thousands of devices that could be used to wipe out New York City’s cell network while world leaders gathered there for the UN General Assembly.

Matt McCool, the special agent responsible for New York’s Secret Service Field Office, said an investigation was launched in the spring after “multiple communication-related imminent threats” against senior U.S. government officials.

“The network had the potential to disable the mobile tower and essentially shut down the mobile network in New York City,” says McCool.

Investigators discovered more than 300 Koroa SIM servers and 100,000 SIM cards in the New York Tri State area, which is concentrated within 35 miles of the general meeting. It is not clear whether the device was intended to disrupt meetings and communications of world leaders, but the Secret Service said it moved quickly to dismantle the network, taking into account the timing and proximity of the threat. The network may have disrupted emergency communications, McCool added.

The Secret Service made the announcement as President Donald Trump was set to address the general assembly for the first time during his second term on September 23rd.

The device allowed anonymous, encrypted communications and allowed criminal organizations to operate undetected, McCool said.

The team, including the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, the Director of National Intelligence and the New York Police Department, worked together in the investigation, McCool said. Investigators are currently working on analyzing data equivalent to 100,000 mobile phones.

“Early analysis shows cellular communication between foreign actors and individuals known to federal law enforcement,” McCool said.

The device poses no longer a threat, he said. The Secret Service did not announce any arrests in connection with the network.

Jimmy Kimmel’s Howard Stern returns after suspension

Howard Stern declares victory.

On a September 23rd episode of his SiriusXM show, the radio host celebrated the news that ABC had finished Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension. Kimmel’s best friend Stern opposed the suspension on September 22nd, and by the end of the day ABC announced “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Returns to the air.

“Well, it seems I’ve solved another problem,” Stern jokingly announced when his show began.

Stern then played a clip from the news program, explaining that he made a statement to Disney as Kimmelsaga’s “vital” moment.

“All I had to do was mention that I had cancelled my (Disney+) subscription. “Stern told Cohost Robin Quivers, “What should I fix today, Robin? Global Warming?”

Seriously, Stern praised Disney for “doing the right thing,” revealing that he spoke to Kimmel on Monday, but he doesn’t know what the comedian is saying in his return monologue. “I told him I was very pleased that this was resolved,” Stern said.

Stern had said he was canceling his Disney+ subscription in protest against ABC’s parent company, but he told listeners he had no chance to do so before the suspension was lifted.

Later on the show, the caller praised Kimmel’s return for tough achievements, saying the radio hosts are not aware of how influential he is. However, Stern argued that he was “not as strong as you describe,” and said that “many of the people” stepped up to support Kimmel.

“You have to stand up at some point, and I’m happy that a lot of people have done,” he said.

After Disney stopped Kimmel’s show, the Magagang commented that “Magagang” is “deeply trying to characterize this kid who is “killing Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them and doing everything he can to score political points from there.” Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk at an event at Utah Valley University.

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Kerr pressured the ABC to take action, claiming that Kimmel misunderstood viewers about Robinson’s politics by suggesting that he was a supporter of President Donald Trump. The network pulled Kimmel’s show out of the air after Kerr said on a YouTube show “It can be done easily or the hard way.”

Disney stopped Kimmel’s show to avoid further inflaming the tense situation in our country’s emotional moments, saying, “Because I felt that some of the comments were badly timed and therefore insensitive.” However, after spending “a last day of thoughtful conversation with Jimmy,” Disney said in a September 22nd statement that “we have reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

Stern previously denounced Kimmel’s suspension as “outrageous” and he said he was “very upset” about it.

“We can’t support this kind of movement,” Stern said on the September 22nd show. “I don’t care if I like Jimmy or not. It’s about freedom of speech. I wonder if Abuk wanted to fire Jimmy because he didn’t like him, or if he had a low rating – they didn’t want to fire him. They’re not under pressure from the US government. We can’t have it.

Do you have a question? Please send it here.

question: My spouse recently accepted an advantageous relocation opportunity. As I prepare to move in a few months, I am looking to port my career to a new location. Any advice you have for running a job search in your new location? – Sarah

Answer: Congratulations on your spouse’s exciting opportunity! While implementing job hunting while preparing for a relocation adds complexity, using the right approach will allow you to successfully migrate your career to a new location.

Start with your current employer. Before looking elsewhere, check if your current company offers internal transfer opportunities and remote working options. Many employers have internal recruitment committees, but some employers may be willing to deal with remote arrangements, especially if you are a valuable employee.

Give it plenty of time. The earlier you start your search, the more likely you will be to secure something before you move. Start researching new markets immediately to understand the employment environment for your industry.

Update your professional materials. Update your resume and make sure the reference can speak to potential employers. Make sure your LinkedIn profile reflects your future relocation and willingness to work in a new location.

Strategic use of your network. Contact us with personal and professional contact information to inquire about opportunities in your target area. Ask them about the businesses they know, their local work preferences (remote vs. office), and industry insights specific to your new location.

Cast a wide range of geographical and professional nets. Target positions within reasonable commuting distances are also considered as many employers offer flexible work arrangements. Sign up for job alerts on major recruitment sites for both specific locations and field remote positions.

Research industry resources. Check with national and local industry associations in your field. They often maintain job openings and can provide valuable information about employers in your target area.

Be flexible and accessible. Be prepared for both virtual and in-person interviews. Some employers may still require candidates to travel for final interviews, so maintain schedule and budget flexibility for potential trips.

Consider temporary opportunities. Don’t overlook your contract or temporary position during the transition. These can lead to permanent roles while providing income, local networking opportunities and giving you flexibility on the move.

Find out more about new markets. Learn about commuting options in new areas, key employers, and industry presence. This knowledge can help you effectively target searches and speak intelligently in interviews.

Remember that relocations can actually expand opportunities by referring to new markets and employers. Stay organized and open your mind to the various possibilities. Your proactive approach to planning this transition puts you in a strong position for success.

Will the government be shut down? Trump cancels his encounter with Democrats

After hearing the “poor and ridiculous, ridiculous demands” by Democrats, the president said he would not meet “may not be productive.”

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has withdrawn anticipated meetings with top Democrats in Congress to avoid government shutdowns, calling their demands “unsafe and ridiculous.”

“I have decided that meeting their parliamentary leaders is not productive,” he wrote in a social media post on September 23.

The president was scheduled to sit down with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakem Jeffries on Thursday, September 25th to negotiate a budgetary impasse. Last week, members of Congress failed to proceed with short-term funding extensions during their holidays.

The main sticking points are related to health care. Democrats say they won’t vote to fund the government unless Republicans are working on rising healthcare costs, such as overturning recent Medicaid cuts and extending the Obamacare Premium Subsidy.

Government funds will expire in the middle of the night on September 30th.

Does the state’s constitution require monopoly on public schools?

0

School choices are taking off. Over the past few years, many states have adopted programs to ensure parents direct their state funds to pay similar fees to their children’s private school tuition. Several state courts are now hearing about challenges to the constitutionality of these programs. The lawsuit argues that the state constitution limits state funding for education to public schools only.

These cases employ a litigation strategy that stems from the challenge of “substantial inter-district disparities in school spending” rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1972. San Antonio Independent School District v. Rodriguez K-12 Education is not a fundamental right under the federal constitution.

This result is notoriously leading a prominent litigator to demand that appropriate and fair school budgets be changed from federal courts to state courts. If NO is included in the US Constitution Federal Government The right to education. This means that federal courts will not apply strict scrutiny to financial disparities. state The court will correct violations of its own constitutions of guarantees of education rights. Efforts to induce state courts to do so gained momentum over the next few decades. San Antonio It is often referred to as the one that constitutes the second and third “waves” of school financial cases. It is likely that the plaintiffs won in about half of the states and influenced the school finance laws of additional states that fear litigation.

Today’s litigators are deploying the same strategy to beat school choices. They argue that school choices are inconsistent with the same “educational clauses” in the state constitutions, where second and third wave financial cases relied on. These clauses place the obligation on the state to create and maintain a system of “common” or “free” schools. This requirement can be combined implicitly or explicitly, with the requirement that schools so created must be funded and organized to provide a floor of quality and equity.

The argument that school selection programs violate such provisions is a requirement that Congress supports. public The school implies that they may not be able to provide public funds Not– Public school. Additionally, it uses public money to overturn the costs of private schools chosen by parents, and further unacceptably divert the funds needed for Congress to concentrate on public education. These arguments — including variations based on specific languages of individual national constitutions — have failed in some states, but have succeeded in the Supreme Court of South Carolina in 2024 and in the Spring and Summer of 2025 in court courts in Ohio, Utah and (pre-requested) Wyoming. These cases are highly likely to advance to the state’s Supreme Court. Tennessee courts are also considering the issue.

Litigators also focus on the characteristics of state education clauses that are not closely related to school financial cases. It is a language that directly prohibits funding for private schools.

To take three related examples, the South Carolina Constitution “requires that no money is paid from public funds or that the state’s credit should be paid. The Ohio Constitution states that “a religious or other denomination, or sect, has no exclusive right or control over a portion of the school funds in this state.” And the Montana Constitution prohibits Congress from making direct or indirect budgets or payments from public funds or money.

These provisions clearly address religion. This is relevant as most selection programs explicitly provide participation by religious and secular schools. This is the reason for the principle – many choice advocates believe parents should be allowed to receive the maximum educational options – but there is also practicality. The current private school market is dominated by religious providers, making it difficult to choose from the ground without participating. Thus, the recent success of school choice efforts has discovered both ideological and practical support from the boundaries of the US Supreme Court decision that requires private religious schools to participate in selection programs on an equal footing with secular schools. One of the court cases, Espinozav. Montana Department of Revenueheld that the application of the above cited no-aid clause in the Montana Constitution to the state’s school selection programme violates the Federal Freedom Movement Clause.

However, the above South Carolina and Ohio decisions focused on the specificity of non-aid causes in states that are not shared with that of Montana (or Utah). The South Carolina Supreme Court emphasized that its constitution bans public funding from “religious or other private education” institutions. The court’s view makes it clear that this is not a prohibiting religious participation (it is Espinoza (Not allowed) But fundraising Any Private school, religious or secular (this Espinoza ). Ohio court courts have made a similar move, referring to a ban on using school funds to provide “religious or other sects.” The word “or” is written by the court clearly indicates that the prohibition does not target religion, but rather prohibits receiving religious funds as well as religious “denominations.” Sprayer. (Wyoming school choice challengers rely on similar honorary ady provisions in the state’s constitution that are not specific to education.)

Today’s case clearly reflects the response San Antonio: Advocates of public education who discovered that the US Constitution relies on state constitutions for ignore or even disability. However, this incident illustrates a change in the style of interpretation of the national constitution since the 1970s and 1980s. The debate about whether giving money to private schools violates the obligation to support public schools is a considerable part of whether or not, and how to apply. Expression of exclusion of others Canon of interpretation of text provides for laws that explicitly mention that one thing should be read to rule out other things that are not mentioned. Does the constitution, which places the obligation to fund public schools, mean an incidental prohibition on funding to competitors?

Similarly, South Carolina and Ohio constitutional framers, whether they target religion with no assistance clauses, rely on competing applications of rules against surplus. On the one hand, there is no reason to say “religious or other sects” when it means only a religious sect. On the other hand, when it means private school at all, why don’t you say “denomination” or “school” and not refer to religion?

The case therefore shows how the plastic textist development of Canon would look like. We might say similar things about the broader discussion in Utah Court of Court of Justice regarding the drafting of a history of state education provisions, citing testimony from a pamphlet of contemporary legislative analysts and voters prepared for the public in their quest to determine the “original public meaning” of the 1986 amendment.

On the educational policy front, the pressing question is whether school choices are persisting, prospering and withering under state court scrutiny. Here, it appears likely that they are heading towards a replay of school financial cases in that different states emerge in different ways, and without agreeing to the obvious partisan patterns. This is probably a desirable outcome, but relying on small differences in the phraseology of unpaid clauses is a pain for many people with differences between states.

One thing that none of the current cases mentions is the one big federal bill law this summer that created the first ever federal tax credit program for private school tuition fees. Due to legislative compromise, credits will only be available in states that have chosen to participate “voluntarily.” Despite the high possibility that Washington will put a considerable amount of pressure on doing so, whether or not will generate robust debate in many states.

From a choice case perspective, a key feature of the new credit is that it is funded by increasing national debt, not by the state’s Treasury Department. Therefore, it is much more difficult to argue that state decisions to promote credit either divert state funds from public schools or constitute banned state support for private schools. Therefore, the availability of federal credits requires considerable recasting, and many of the important arguments about the choices currently being considered by state courts will require considerable refilling. Ultimately, the tax credit program could prove revocation of a strategy that relies on state courts to protect public schools. This is not because the U.S. Supreme Court chose federal doctrine, but because Congress and the Trump administration support the federal dollar.

Four Things that wise job seekers do in the age of AI

0

From virtual assistants like Alexa and Siri to recommendations for chatbots and personalized AD, Artificial Intelligence (AI) integrates into almost every aspect of modern life, whether you like it or not.

That’s especially true for job seekers, says Jonathan Javier, career consultant and CEO of Wonsulting. He says that in many cases it can be a good thing, as AI has the tools to refine his resume and make sure it matches the right role on the employment site. However, there are drawbacks. Currently, several companies are conducting first round of AI interviews, says Javier. This can be felt impersonal.

Integrating AI into the job market can occur at difficult times. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in August 2025 reached 4.3%, the highest in four years. These figures reflect many factors that present economic uncertainty is one of them, but it is clear that job seekers face a major, challenging battle in today’s job market.

It depends on whether AI can interfere or support employers in this financial environment, Javier says. “In my opinion, AI has made job hunting easier for people who know how to use it effectively, but it’s even more difficult for people who continue to use outdated methods,” he explains.

Here’s how AI is woven into the job market and what smart job seekers can do to stay ahead.

How is AI changing the job market?

1. Career coaching arenas are leveled

According to Javier, job seekers now have AI-powered tools to create sophisticated resumes and cover letters. “For example, job seekers can now use AI tools such as Resumai and Jobboardai to adjust their resumes to a specific role or job description,” he points out. “This gives them the ability to more strategically emphasize their most relevant skills and experience.

Importantly, Javier says this leveled out the arena for people who may not have access to this type of career resource. However, these services come with warnings, Javier said: “It only works when you edit the output and fact check for accuracy.”

2. Companies use AI to screen candidates

As a career coach, Javier says many of his clients report that initial interviews with future employers were conducted only through AI. “Companies are increasingly using AI to conduct first-round interviews,” he says. “It’s efficient, but this often feels awkward because there’s no human touch and you don’t know how the candidates performed.”

This is becoming increasingly common, some studies have shown. A survey from resume builders in October 2024 found that about eight out of ten companies were using AI to screen candidates.

3. AI allows you to place a qualified job directly before you

Even a basic LinkedIn membership as a job seeker, you are still presented with many roles tailored to your experience. It’s a victory for job seekers, he says.

“The platform helps candidates to more directly match their qualified jobs and compare their skills and experience with job descriptions,” he notes. “This allows candidates to focus on quality opportunities rather than broadly apply time, and allow employers to find better candidates without reordering hundreds of resumes.”

What can a smart job seeker do to get the right role?

A recent Pew Research Center survey found that over half (52%) of US workers are concerned about the future of AI in the workplace, with about a third thinking that overall this will lead to a decline in employment opportunities.

These fears are understandable, but don’t worry yet, Javier states: However, approaches need to be shifted to ensure the right role. “Job seekers need to raise AI into workflows and adapt it,” he recommends. “Those who learn to use AI as a tool will stay ahead of them, but those who resist it can be left behind.”

There are absolutely no ways to use AI for your profits in today’s job market.

1. Use AI, but make sure to humanize your experiences

“AI can be a powerful tool for creating more sophisticated resumes and cover letters,” says Javier. While using the above-mentioned resume creation tool is absolutely fine, don’t blindly shoot down documents built by AI in the direction of your employer. “I use AI for drafting, but I always edit for accuracy and personalization,” he recommends.

The risk of these services is when candidates copy copy pasty output without personalization or editing. “AI can get 80% of the ways there, but the last 20% need your unique voice, story, and context,” he explains. “If you don’t review carefully, you may see errors and content that you cannot explain in the interview.”

2. If you have an AI interview scheduled, practice first

There is no way to predict whether the question asked in the interview, whether the conversation is AI-driven. However, Javier says some of his clients who received the AI screenings pointed out that they were asked to outline their background. So it’s not harmful for you to practice a little to convey your experience in a concise and persuasive way. Also, there is no reason why you can’t do this using AI. For example, you can use ChatGpt to evaluate elevator speeches.

3. Build a robust online presence

As Javier points out, introducing your authentic self on LinkedIn or other platforms can help you stand out in the employment process. But be careful about what you post. Resume Builder Survey notes that 47% of the companies surveyed use AI to scan candidates’ personal websites and social media profiles.

4. Don’t send applications spikes

With so many unemployed people, the job market is flooded with applications. Javier estimates it is probably several times as many times as normal. “Use AI to identify the right jobs and coordinate applications. Fewer, more target roles will give you more results,” Javier points out. “Quality is more than quantity.”

Also, remember that this is not the first time that new technologies have shaken the job market. While AI integration into the employment search process may be unsettling, Javier is once again highlighting that robots are not going to replace you. You need to learn to work with AI.

Even on weekends where most teams at the top are off or faced with no significant challenges, college football has once again produced amazing results that form a playoff picture.

And these results are in week 4, with the latest version of USA Today Sports Bowl Projections with a new look in the CFP field. There are two similar swaps between the Big Ten and the Big 12 team. Indiana intervenes in Illinois after the Hoosiers take over the Illini. And Texas Tech took on the Utah location after a road victory in Salt Lake City.

One change that was not made was in a group of five representatives. Tulane lost at a disadvantage in Mississippi, and Memphis surprised Arkansas. However, Greenwave still has an edge on the Americans, already pocketing two Power 4 victories.

This weekend is the end of September and is also the first major inflection point of the season. It’s not much changed in the top candidates outside the Clemson and Alabama slip. For Pennsylvania and Oregon, you can see if the Crimson Tide can defeat Georgia and return to the photo.

Note: Legacy Pac-12 schools at other conferences will fulfill their existing Pac-12 bowl contracts until the 2025 season.

The hidden costs of generative AI and the sacrifices to climate

0

play

From job displacement and plagiarism, accuracy and privacy risks, generative artificial intelligence, or genai, is full of the types of problems that are expected of such disruptive technologies.

And you can add an environmental threat between them.

Especially since the second half of 2022, when Openai’s ChatGpt exploded into the scene by triggering the global Genai Gold Rush with fierce competition and unprecedented investment, many have sounded alarm bells for environmental challenges caused by the enormous computational resources needed to train and operate these models.

In other words, the training process for large-scale language models (LLMs) consumes a huge amount of electricity and contributes to increasing carbon emissions. Additionally, the data center that houses this hardware requires a huge amount of water for cooling, putting a strain on local water supply and ecosystems.

For end users (consumers, businesses, governments, etc.), Genai’s rapid development cycle also leads to accelerated demand for high-performance computing hardware that can have a unique, negative, “full circle” impact on your home country, from manufacturing, packaging and transportation to energy consumption and ultimate e-waste.

What is genai’s carbon footprint?

Generic AI platforms – including LLMS to generate human-like conversations, and image-producing AI tools – require a lot of electricity to run, especially at large scale. For example, it is estimated that a single Genai prompt uses about 3 watt-hours (WH) of electricity, while a typical refrigerator uses about 1-2 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per day. When doing math, the day of refrigerator usage (average about 1.5 kWh) corresponds to approximately 500 generation AI prompts.

That may not be too bad, but with the possibility of some daily interactions between billions of users and genai, cumulative effects become important. Genai is so resource-heavy, Openai CEO Sam Altman recently admitted that users are saying “please” and “thank you” while interacting with ChatGpt and interacting with “tens of millions of dollars” of electricity costs.

What exacerbates this problem is that most energy is still sourced from pollution of fossil fuels such as coal oil (oil) and natural gas.

“People don’t go to Wikipedia or open a book, they look at all Chatgupt and other platforms.

“Large language models use roughly 30 times more energy than (websites) because the process requires more calculations, with large-scale language models generating results from scratch to prompt based on training data,” adds Dr. Lucciioni, who focuses on promoting sustainable AI practices. “We’re taking more resources without actually looking at the costs. Users aren’t looking at the invoices. It’s free or almost free. So I don’t think it’s really connected to the environmental impact.”

What do AI companies do to address climate concerns?

If there is a solution to combat the environmental impact of AI, it will not be realized or implemented immediately.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that the company behind Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and the threads are planning to spend “thousands of billions of dollars” on developing AI products in the near future.

According to Zuckerberg, it will be called Meta’s first multi-gigawatt data center and is expected to be online next year.

On behalf of USA Today, I contacted Meta to comment on this story, but the request was not accepted.

Some AI players are trying to better understand that ultimately reduce the impact on the environment. For example, Mistral AI is a company that offers a variety of LLM solutions and discussed its efforts in a recent blog post entitled “Contribution to AI’s Global Environmental Standards.”

In a statement provided to the vice president of public relations for Mistral AI, Audrey Helbrinstorp at USA Today, “We recently conducted the first comprehensive study to quantify the environmental impact of LLM.

In particular, it shows that the model’s footprint is strongly correlated with its size and that selecting a smaller or case-specific model can help reduce environmental impact.

Other efforts can also have positive results in the environment. In August, Google agreed to curb the use of power in AI data centers and ease the burden on the grid when demand surges. Google Gemini is becoming a popular and mainstream Genai tool.

Dr. Lucciioni says that by limiting what we rely on AI, we can also do our part. “Do I need to generate cookie recipes from scratch, or can I look them up in recipe books or online?” she asks rhetorically. “Today, people use AI as calculators, encyclopedias, and even therapists, so thinking about alternatives is key.”

AI to help combat environmental threats?

It is also worth noting that AI models can actually help combat climate change.

Although emerging technologies themselves have environmental impacts, AI can also improve resource use and energy distribution, increase efficiency, analyze and optimize waste flows, and predict and mitigate the impact of climate change.

“The most commonly used AI models to combat climate change are not the most harmful models,” explains Dr. Lucciioni. “These aren’t an issue in terms of environmental impact, as they are so efficient and can run locally on laptops, such as models that are typically used for climate forecasting and biodiversity monitoring, and new generation batteries and what you have.”

But for now, Dr. Lucciioni says that because of the huge demand for AI, the demand for AI is very large, as technological advances that increase the efficiency of resource use can paradoxically increase the overall consumption of that resource.

“Many tech companies are able to do more and more because they are increasing efficiency, including NVIDIA, including hardware for each generation, but people are using it even more. “For now, all this demand for all of this genai is really, really growing, so we need to find a meaningful solution.”

Trump is working on the UN General Assembly amid conflict between Ukraine and Gaza

US allies are seeking solutions when President Donald Trump addresses the UN about America’s role in Gaza, Ukraine and the foreign wars.

play

UN – When President Donald Trump speaks to the UN General Assembly for the first time since he first took office on September 23, the businessman at the height of his political power will rarely offer a weakened UN or worried allies.

It is expected that Trump will use his platform to take a victory lap in a few small conflicts that say American allies have resolved for answers about America’s role in Gaza, Ukraine and overseas wars.

“No one has done a better job than I did in world peace. No one has solved more wars than I have,” Trump said on September 19th.

The main concern that the allies currently have is one of the European diplomats who spoke on terms of anonymity, which is said to be unpredictable in Ukraine’s trade relations and military support.

What is Trump’s strategy for the Middle East, he asked. Will he respond to countries such as France, Australia, Canada, the UK, Belgium and other countries using annual meetings to recognize the Palestinian state?

“I hope they will listen not only to accusing the invaders, but also to President Trump’s thoughts on the international order,” Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said in an interview hours after denounced Russia as “a desire for control” at the UN Security Council emergency meeting. “This body isn’t ideal, but it’s the only body we have. And the alternative is probably a bad thing.”

Russia is a standing committee member of the Security Council, but Eastern European countries have accused Moscow of illegally invading airspace.

Trump initially cast the recent invasion of 19 Russian drones into Poland as a mistake. However, last week after Russian fighters travelled to Estonia, Trump said he would consider helping NATO allies.

The president was right to try and end the war three years ago by trying to end the war three years ago by testing a “personal approach” with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “We supported him in it.”

However, he said the attack rates against Ukraine and the number of NATO airspace violations have increased since the August meeting with Trump in Alaska.

“So I hope President Trump will draw the conclusion that unfortunately personal diplomacy is not working. He needs to pressure Russia and change Putin’s calculus by helping Ukraine,” Sikorski said.

Trump said he would impose tariffs on countries buying Russian oil as soon as the European Union and NATO allies completely cut off Moscow. These efforts have been hampered by Slovakia, Hungary and Türkiye, but they still rely heavily on them.

EU Council President Antonio Costa told journalists on September 22 that the EU is working closely with the US on sanctions. He emphasized that the EU is committed to reducing imports from Russia by 80% and the bloc will bring the amount to zero.

“We have at least two member states, rather than a physical alternative to the easy supply to exchange supplies from Russia,” Costa said.

The main priority of the EU today is to pressure Russia to agree to a ceasefire and enter negotiations to end the war, he said.

“We are very interested in Putin’s answer to the initiative from President Trump, as after his Alaska meeting, we have practically no indication that Russia is eager to negotiate a peace deal,” Costa said.

US allies recognize the Palestinian state

Before Trump’s New York arrived, allies tried to use a UN gathering to draw attention to another conflict, the battle between Israel and Hamas. Dozens of world leaders attended conferences led by France and Saudi Arabia, showing support for an independent Palestinian state.

Trump has admitted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has lost the battle for public opinion in the war with Hamas. The UN-backed body said last month that hunger was occurring in Gaza.

His administration has cast its support behind Netanyahu as Israel launches its ground attacks in Gaza city. At a press conference in the UK last week, Trump said the world could not forget Hamas’ attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023.

European officials argued that the key to the symbolic conference was not to put pressure on Trump. Rather, they said it was based on the belief that local security depends on the process.

“We must do everything in our power to maintain the potential for a solution for the two states. Israel and Palestine live side by side in peace and security,” French President Emmanuel Macron told the UN conference.

They also say that perception is not a blank check. Hamas cannot become part of the future Palestinian government, and extremist groups must release all Israeli hostages.

US officials say they have acknowledged that the Palestinian state has not made it difficult for Hamas to sign an agreement to end the war.

“They say they are actually hurting the causes they think they are promoting,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at a press conference with Israel and Netanyahu earlier this month.

Trump returns to the United Nations

Trump is dealing with international organizations for the first time since 2019. The final UN speech of his first term came during the community pandemic.

Since returning to the office, he has downgraded the status of US ambassador to the United Nations and withdraws support from several initiatives.

He separates the United States from the UN Human Rights Council and the UN Relief and the Labor Bureau for Palestinian Refugees, and is responsible for the dependence of UN education, science and cultural organisations on anti-American prejudice.

Trump says the United Nations has “a tremendous potential,” but that doesn’t live up to it.

“There’s great hope for that, but it’s not running well,” Trump said in February. “And they’re not at work.”

If he really wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize for solving a foreign war, Mark Montgomery, a retired rear admiral and former employee of the US European Command, said he cannot make critical or retreat statements when Trump appears before the United Nations.

“This is not the place you’ll burn the planet,” said Montgomery, a senior fellow at the Democracy Foundation. “That would be useless to him.”

Stephen Colbert responds when Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension is lifted up in ABC

0

play

Stephen Colbert welcomes his fellow Jimmy Kimmel late at night.

On the September 22 episode of “The Late Show,” the comedian responded to the news that ABC has finished Kimmel’s suspension and is bringing his show back into the air this week.

“Our long, national late-night director is over,” Colbert declared in a preview clip shared by social media “The Late Show.”

When Colbert announced the news of Kimmel’s return, the audience in his studio exploded with cheers. He described lifting Kimmel’s stop as “great news for my dear friend Jimmy and his amazing staff.”

Colbert also continued a little since his September 18th monologue. There he acted anger at how Kimmel’s controversy overshadowed the news that “Late Show” had won Emmy for an outstanding talk series.

“Now Jimmy hasn’t been cancelled, so I can enjoy this again,” Colbert said, lifting up Emmy. “Again, I’m the only martian late at night!”

However, referring to the cancellation of “Late Show,” Colbert jokingly added:

ABC announced earlier that day on September 22nd, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” It will return on September 23rd, almost a week after it was suspended indefinitely.

Kimmel was pulled out of the air after saying that “Magagang” was desperately trying to characterize “as a suspected killer of Charlie Kirk” after facing pressure from the FCC over comments made by the comedian. Kimmel also laughed at President Donald Trump’s reaction to Kirk’s fatal shooting.

In a statement on September 22, Disney said “we have made the decision to suspend production of the show to avoid further inflaming the tense situation in our country’s emotional moments,” and that “some of the comments felt badly timed and therefore insensitive.”

But “We had our last day of thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday,” Disney said.

Colbert, whose “Late Show” ends in May 2026 after CBS announced its cancellation in July, has previously joined Kimmel’s chorus of support. In a monologue on his show on September 18th, Colbert accused Kimmel of suspension as “blatant censorship.”

“If the ABC thinks this will meet the administration, they’re grossly naive and obviously, if they give the mouse Kimmel, they won’t read a book for kids,” Colbert said. “And let Jimmy say I’m 100% standing with you and your staff.”

“And again, he said before grabbing Emmy, “You couldn’t enjoy this for me for a week?”

Why changing your application age is an advantage when you retire

0

Approximately three-quarters of US adults are unaware of this social security strategy.

A 2025 survey of National Retirement Facilities found that nearly 70% of American adults who receive Social Security say they have to make lifestyle changes as a result of an increase in living costs.

There are many ways to increase your profits in front If you are already receiving benefits, you will begin to argue that your options are more limited, such as working longer or increasing your income. However, there is one lesser known movement, which can increase profits of hundreds of dollars per month.

Changing the filing age may be advantageous

The age you apply for benefits is one of the most important factors that affect your benefits. If you submit your full retirement age (FRA), you will earn 100% of your payments based on your work history, but earlier, you will permanently reduce the size of your monthly check.

Generally, your benefits will be set on stones after you submit them (except for adjustments to your annual living expenses). However, if you submit it early and change your mind, you will have the opportunity to start over.

You can withdraw your application within 12 months of filing and then earn a larger benefit amount at a later date. According to a 2025 survey from national retirement institutions, only 26% of US adults recognize this as an option. This means that many people may be missing out on the opportunity to increase their profits.

For some retirees, delaying benefits in one or two years can be life-changing. In fact, according to 2024 data from the Social Security Administration, the average retired worker collects about $269 more per month at age 65 than the age 62. Meanwhile, the average profit for a 70-year-old is a whopping $807 more than the average for a 62-year-old.

year Average monthly benefit amount
62 $1,342
63 $1,364
64 $1,425
65 $1,611
66 $1,764
67 $1,930
68 $1,980
69 $2,040
70 $2,148

Source: Social Security Bureau.

If you withdraw your application, you will need to repay all the benefits you have already received. But by reasserting later, you can make hundreds more dollars a month.

You can also suspend Social Security if your benefits are not an option. Once you reach full retirement age, you can temporarily suspend check collections up to the age of 70. Once you start the billing again, you will be given the payment for the rest of your life and explain the money you have withheld.

In many cases, delaying profits from the start is the best option for increasing the size of your check. However, if you submit and choose early, withdrawing your application or suspending benefits is often an overlooked way to increase your payments.

Is it worth delaying profits?

Delaying social security claims is one of the most effective ways to increase your monthly income, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you collect more profits.

Social Security is designed to collect the same amount on paper, regardless of the age you submit, for your lifetime. Early billing reduces monthly payments, but you’ll receive more checks in total. Delaying benefits will increase monthly checks, but overall it will be less.

If you end up falling into average life expectancy, your total benefits must be roughly equal, regardless of your filing age. However, if you have reason to believe you haven’t lived since the 80s, you can submit it early and get out first. You still receive fewer monthly checks, but you may collect more money in total than waiting for you to submit.

There is no right or wrong time to obtain Social Security, but it is wise to know all the options. If you submit early and then change your mind, reverse your decision could increase your payment by a few hundred dollars a month.

With allied support, Trump punishes his enemy

0

Trump’s allies say after years of so-called “laws,” the president is looking for legal action against his longtime enemy, disappointing critics.

play

President Donald Trump has put pressure on the administration to punish longtime rivals and political opposition. Initially, on September 20, the Attorney General called for them to chase after them, and the next day, “radical left mania” were targeted at the Charlie Kirk Memorial.

Speaking to tens of thousands of mourners gathered in Arizona to commemorate the 31-year-old activist who was killed, Trump noted that unlike Kirk, he dislikes his political opponents.

“That’s where I opposed Charlie,” Trump said. “I hate the other person, and I don’t want the best for them.”

These types of comments infuriate the president’s detractors.

And they are particularly stoked shortly after Trump asking Attorney General Pam Bondy for his name, in the true social posts against criminal charges against famous critics such as former FBI director James Comey. Senator Adam Schiff, D-Calif. and Letitia James, New York State Attorney General.

Public pressure is another example, and some legal observers say Trump is eroding democratic norms, particularly the US Department of Justice’s tradition of independence.

“After months of denial, it is no longer denied that Donald Trump is weaponizing the government to attack his political opponents, silence his critics and neutralize large institutions that could challenge him,” Mark Elias, a leftist organisation focused on election lawsuits, said in a newsletter on September 22.

“When he heard the warning that he had transformed the Justice Department into his personal legal weapon, Elias added.

Asked about Trump’s complaints that the Attorney General had not made any progress in prosecuting his past enemy, White House press chief Karoline Leavitt scoffed at the notion that the agency was politicized before quickly pivoting to slap the previous administration.

“We are not going to tolerate gaslight from anyone in the media, or we are trying to say from anyone on the other side that it’s the president who is weaponizing (the Ministry of Justice),” she said at a September 22 briefing.

“It was Joe Biden and his Attorney General who weaponized DOJ,” Special Counsel Jack Smith brought charges against Trump about his January 6, 2021 Capitol riots and the role of preventing the establishment of classification documents after inauguration.

Trump has “inflamed” excuses regarding prosecution

Biden never directly called for Trump or other Republican opponents to be charged, and then General Merrick Garland began his investigation into Trump after the Congressional Committee publicly set out evidence on Jan. 6 that he may have hampered justice in his efforts to overturn the 2020 electoral defeat.

The appointment of Smith, a career prosecutor from outside the administration, was intended to prevent political interference.

During the 2024 presidential election, Trump naked many of his intentions about being a tool for vengeance. He circulated the true social post, for example, for a military court against former President Barack Obama.

Trump also shared with his followers posts from other users who called for charges to indict the Jan. 6 home depicting the committee and jumpsuit rivals.

This month’s Bondi online whiplash returns to his first term in which he regularly puts pressure on as president and fires people who didn’t make bids.

For example, in 2019, Trump fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions after a year of intense surveillance. He later turned on Attorney General William Barr. He left his first administration after declaring that there was no extensive evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election that Trump repeatedly claimed.

Steve Bannon, Trump’s former chief strategist who served four months in prison after violating a subpoena from the Jan. 6 committee, suggested that the president wanted action against those who followed him.

“We have to break this down brick-by-brick, we have to do it now,” Bannon featured Peter Navarro, the current White House trade adviser who served his prison time to protest House Subpeona, in an episode of the September 22nd podcast.

“In the end, President Trump congratulated him and pissed him off,” he added.

“All the excuses, all the tapping… I said, dropping the hammer: Hey, I love you, but these people are still walking on the face of the earth – why?”

Last week, the president said he “dismissed” Eric Sheebert, a US lawyer who oversees a criminal mortgage fraud investigation into James.

“Trump’s instructions to Agu Bondi, which sets my political opponent apart, show how low he will sink and increase the risk,” Sen. D-Connecticut, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, said in a September 22nd X post.

Senator Rand Paul, R-KY. is one of the few GOP lawmakers who look creak in this direction. He said that when he appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on September 21, he believes the Biden administration should not indict Trump, but that conservatives believe it will be called “law” in the 2024 campaign, but that it is not right for Trump to explicitly call for the enemy to prosecute.

“We need to remove politics from the judicial system as much as possible,” Paul said.

But supporters within Make America Great Again Movement, partially fueled by rage over Kirk’s stunning assassination, have almost scoffed at these criticisms. Trump is calling out, and the White House and its Magazine allies have abused their strength to prevent them from returning to president.

“The president has all the rights to express how he feels about these people who literally campaigned to put him in prison.

Comey led an investigation into alleged charges between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia. He was fired by Trump in May 2017.

One of Trump’s most vocal Democratic critics, Schiff led the first blunder each effort against the president on his 2019 communication with Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky.

James is suing the Trump administration for cuts to the Department of Health and Human Services and the Enforcement Bureau on elections that she says are unconstitutional. She secured a $5 billion civil fraud ruling against Trump last year, but the penalty was later dumped by the appeals court.

What will the president do if Bondi, who was criticized by major MAGA figures this year on various issues, cannot find enough evidence to bring up the case? Leavitt refused to say it on the grounds that it was hypothetical, but she told reporters that Trump was standing “100%” with his attorney general.

Former Judge Kennedy recalls gay rights, important votes on abortion

0

Former Justice Anthony Kennedy was surprised by the intensity of his opposition to gay marriage. He considered resigning from the court due to personal feelings about abortion.

play

WASHINGTON – When then-trial judge Anthony Kennedy wrote his opinion on a series of major gay rights cases, he was surprised by the intensity of opposition from some of his colleagues – and was disappointed.

This was especially true of the decision to make a 2015 blockbuster decision to legalize same-sex marriage across the country, Kennedy recounts in his upcoming memoirs.

Judge Antonin Scalia opposed the right to same-sex marriage and took a personal swipe at Kennedy.

Scalia’s attack “damped his opinion and allowed me to shruggle it,” Kennedy published October 14th in “Life, Law, Freedom.” However, Kennedy’s family was “devastated by the opposite tone.”

However, Kennedy has had plenty of experience at the heart of the polarization problem.

“Not me, it’s a case that was shaking.”

After joining the court in 1988, Reagan’s appointee appeared as its ideological center, bridging the gap between liberal and conservative justice by monitoring alongside either block.

By the time he resigned from the court in 2018, Kennedy was a swing vote on major issues, including abortion, positive behavior, gay rights, and the death penalty, often siding alongside the court’s freer justice.

time The magazine called him the “decidinger.”

However, Kennedy did not like being called a swing vote.

“It was shaking, not me,” he wrote.

Often thorny on the conservative side, Kennedy nevertheless voted regularly on the right-sided block of the court. He, for example, Citizens Unitedv. He wrote the majority opinion of the courts in the FEC, allowing businesses and outside groups to spend unlimited amounts on elections. He then joined the 5-4 majority in Bush vs. Gore, stopping Florida’s recount for the 2000 election.

Kennedy has considered resigning from abortion

About a decade ago, Kennedy thought that his lifelong anti-abortion opinion might mean he should resign from court.

“Because of my constant belief that life must be protected from the moment of conception, I struggled with the idea that the Constitution should allow choices to end pregnancy,” writes Kennedy, a devout Catholic. “This struggle made me wonder whether morally it was wrong for me to control under the law that doing so has the right to end a pregnancy under the law.”

Ultimately, Kennedy determined that his resignation sent a message that his judicial oath to protect his constitutional rights was not binding in a difficult or controversial case.

Kennedy also had practical reasons. If he resigns, his successor may “not be too worried about protecting the fetus.”

In 1992, he was a Planned Parenthoodv. I helped create multiple opinions on Casey. This supported women’s rights to abortion, even though they allowed new state restrictions.

The decision did not match his personal beliefs, Kennedy told his daughter the day it was released, but he “had to respect the rule of law.”

Resignation helped Republicans create a conservative court indeed

Kennedy’s retirement helped solidify his conservative court control over more than 20 years later. In 2022, the court was Planned Parenthoodv. Casey and its precursor, 1973 Roev. It overturned both Wade’s decisions.

The 5-4 votes to overturn Law were supported by Judge Brett Kavanaugh, former Kennedy secretary appointed by President Donald Trump to take over him. (Another former Secretary of Clerk Kennedy and Trump’s appointee, Judge Neil Golsch, joined the majority and overturned Law.

Kennedy doesn’t say in his memoirs what he thinks about the majority’s opinion. But he explains his switch on another issue.

A key shift in voting for minor executions

Sixteen years after voting to support the death penalty for a juvenile, Kennedy agreed in 2005 that minors had violated the constitutional ban on “cruel and extraordinary punishment.”

Kennedy wrote that the standards of decency had evolved, Kennedy wrote in a 5-4 majority ruling, which also pointed to a “overwhelming” international opinion on the death penalty for juveniles.

In his memoir, Kennedy stated that the judge “should be willing to consider principles and approaches that could provide new insights into the passage of time.”

The time march has made people better aware of the injustice that the LGBTQ+ community has suffered, he said.

There was tension between gay rights and the religious views of many Americans, the tensions that Kennedy himself had conflicted, so he was assigned to write the majority opinion in such cases.

Gay opinion passed the “refrigerator test”

Obergefellv, a gay marriage. One of his biggest goals at Hodges was “not hurt traditional marriages, so ‘Oh, we might allow same-sex marriages,” he wrote.

Instead, Kennedy wanted to reaffirm both heterosexual and same-sex marriages “the respect and love we all seek.”

He also wanted the opinions to be short and clear so that Americans could easily understand reasoning.

Kennedy felt he achieved as people were taping important corridors to their refrigerator doors after someone told him that their opinions had passed the “fridge test.”

And telling the letter writers – both gay and straight – Kennedy what he had read from the decision at their wedding reassured him that “our opinion gave dignity to their decision to spend their lives together.”

Patch up after lifting with Scalia

Kennedy also fixed things with Scalia.

For months after Obergefell’s decision, Scalia rarely joined the judge for lunch.

But a week before his death in 2016, Scalia told Kennedy that he would deeply regret his opposition tone and his personal mention.

What bothered Kennedy the most was Scalia’s claim that Supreme Court judges who said they were deciding on gay marriage issues on behalf of voters were not representative of the nation in their background, and that they did not include real Westerners because “California doesn’t count.”

Kennedy took great pride in his California roots and wrote that his worldview was defined by the West.

“He apologised for being unstable,” Kennedy wrote. “We both smiled and the problem was resolved.”

When Scalia’s wife called to tell Kennedy that her husband had passed away, she told him how much their settlement was intended for Scalia.

“We agreed at times, and sometimes against it,” Kennedy wrote.

Detroit defense becomes a heavy metal

  • The Detroit Lions defeated the Baltimore Ravens 38-30 in a tough contested game on Monday night.
  • Detroit’s pass rush was a major factor, looting Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson seven times.
  • Both crimes were effective as Detroit controls the clock and Baltimore utilizes Quick Strike Play.

Baltimore – If Charm City’s Monday Night Week 3 Capstone was a Super Bowl 60 preview, yes, yes please.

The Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions performed a dramatic, high-tempo show, ending with a 38-30 victory by the Lions, which was more contested than the final score suggests. This victory will help Detroit and its new-looking coaching staff recertify them as championship contenders. Meanwhile, the super-talented Raven must overcome his 1-2 start of his second consecutive season.

Who else won and lost beyond the results on the scoreboard? Please read…

attack

Whether it was ball control (typically Detroit) or quick striking (typically Baltimore), neither club had much trouble moving the ball. The Lions held their possessions for nearly 20 minutes in the first half, before two TD drives had a meal for over 16 minutes. Meanwhile, Baltimore enjoyed a 28-yard run with Derrick Henry on his first touchdown, but another drive took four plays and 32 seconds before Jackson found Rushed Bateman on a 3-yard pass into the end zone. That’s not to say that the Lions didn’t have an explosive sequence (RB David Montgomery’s 72-yard run, the longest in the league this season, in the third quarter), the Ravens were unable to grind their first ownership after 73 yards, 73 yards, and over six minutes passed mid-salary. It is said that 68 total points and 744 aggregate yards are talking to the track.

Lions pass rush

Don’t assume that Detroit’s defense has mailed it. The Lions bagged Jackson seven times – including a fourth goal from the 2-yard line in the second quarter – matching what the two league MVPs endured most in his eighth year care. And most coordinators consider holding him 35 yards on the ground, just as Jackson threw the ball (27-27, 288 yards, 3 TD).

Mark Andrews

He entered Monday with two catches in the season. And since Baltimore’s infamous performance in Baltimore’s playoff loss in Buffalo in January. However, Andrews appeared and caught six balls for 91 yards and advanced Baltimore early in the third quarter on a 14-yard strike from Jackson.

Metallica

The heavy metal legend – Checkout – who just got his own channel on SiriusXM last month was also featured on the Ravens’ pre-game introduction “for bell tolls” and “for bell fees” that led Jackson and the offensive starter. “Enter Sandman” rang throughout the building in the fourth quarter after Baltimore reduced Detroit’s lead to 28-24.

Jake Bates

Following Detroit’s second touchdown, the Lions kicker made a TD-saving tackle on the subsequent kickoff. After a 43-yard runback, he defeated Racine Ali on the return of the Ravens to the open field.

Jake Bates

he just We conclude the first half, which was overlooked with a 67-yard field goal. Ironically, former Ravens star Justin Tucker delved into the 66-yard benchmark four years ago.

Derrick Henry

In the second time in three games, Baltimore’s giant Bellcaw characteristically lost the fumble that led to his opponent’s fourth quarter points. It was a fatal blow from week one to Buffalo, and was the momentum killer when the Ravens had the chance to drive the lead on Monday. In Henry’s 10-year career, he did not lose multiple fourth quarter fumbles in the same season.

M&T Bank Stadium Operation

The Ravens don’t get enough credibility in their distinctive pre-game and halftime productions. Unfortunately, the scoreboard did not function properly for more than a quarter on Monday. There is no downs and distance or score information available to over 70,000 fans who rely on stadium boards up to the middle of the game.

Ravens d

The absence of injured Pro Bowl LB Kyle van Noy (hamstring) and DL Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) made me arrogant ham. Without the two best players, Baltimore not only failed to contain Detroit’s run game (224 yards, 4 TDS), but its improved secondary was further exposed by the passing of Lions QB Jared Goff’s accuracy. Two of Detroit’s TD marches covered at least 96 yards, but Raven simply couldn’t stop the bleeding.

Buffalo Bills

The undefeated AFC East Leader enjoys what is effectively the 2.game lead of the Baltimore team that may meet again this season…but perhaps, he’s back in West New York.

Baltimore lucky charm

The Ravens fell 20-7 in an all-black uniform, with Jackson at 24-3 against NFC opponents.

Tesla’s San Francisco Lobotakshi plan is planning to mislead the public, officials say

Tesla TSLA.O CEO Elon Musk respected investors with a Robotaxi update in July: After small testing in Austin, Texas, Tesla rapidly expanded its driverless cabs and expanded the San Francisco Bay area.

Musk posted to X earlier that month that Tesla would roll out Robotaxis “in a month or two.”

The reality of Tesla’s San Francisco plans included no unmanned taxis at all. The car manufacturer had not applied for the required permit. This is the process of taking tests for years under state supervision. Instead, they planned a pre-positioned trip in human-driven vehicles, just for the invited riders. And, state officials say this would do this under permission that would normally be used for limousines and not allow on-demand passenger compartments.

News of Tesla’s Lobotakshi plan surprised and wary regulators, according to an email between California and federal officials and Tesla’s public policy staff. After media reports that Tesla would deploy its Bay Area Robotaxis in late July, state transport officials asked Tesla employees if they would resolve “public chaos.”

The staff did not respond directly. Tesla said it would not respond to media inquiries and would receive information if the customers were available. The following month, Musk posted to X, “The Tesla Robotaxi service area is already bigger than any competitor in Austin and the Bay Area.”

Musk and Tesla did not respond to requests for comment on the story. A spokesman for the California Public Utilities Commission said it needs to regulate autonomous passengers and Tesla should explain its services “appropriately and accurately” and ensure that it “provides a clear distinction” between human-driven operations in California and communications with autonomous passengers offered elsewhere.

Tesla’s unabolized Robotaxis is potentially offering stock in the company tied to performance targets as its board of directors of stock market value of over $1 trillion and an eye-opening compensation package proposed to Musk. The mask has been pledging the imminent arrival of Robotaxis for ten years each year. So far, however, EV makers have only started small Austin tests with a limited number of riders and human safety monitors in frontline seats.

In a July revenue call, Musk said that he made “emphasable advances” in “autonomous driving,” which many denied people said we wouldn’t achieve.

“We did what we said we were trying to do,” he said. “It doesn’t mean we’re always on time, but we do that, and our deniers are sitting there with eggs in their faces.”

Mask’s promises have grown as billionaire CEOs face increased pressure to provide the November shareholder vote and Robotaxis as Tesla’s electric vehicle business declines. Musk told investors in July that Robotaxis would expand at a “ultra-clear rate” that serves “half the US population” by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, similar to the Bay Area episode, Musk and Tesla use “Robotakshi” to mean less than completely unmanned taxis. In a September 13 post on my Tesla X account, the term merged with the “Fully Autonomous Driving” (FSD) driver assistance capabilities offered to customers.

“$99/month to have your own supervised Robotaxi,” read the post citing FSD subscription prices.

Matthew Wansley, a professor specializing in the Cardozo Law School of Autonomous Legicles in New York, said Musk’s Gulf claims show how Tesla wants customers and investors all the benefits of “robotaxis” and “self-driving,” but that there is no regulatory burden or legal risk to make the same claim against the government.

“They don’t want to tell regulators that they have an autonomous driving system,” he said.

Tesla launched Austin services in June, but has not opened it to the public. According to Tesla, safety monitors for passenger seats on vehicles, including highways, have begun to switch to driver seats.

Musk says Tesla is planning for recent expansions in Florida, Nevada and Arizona. Tesla secured a certificate this month to test Nevada’s self-driving cars, state officials said. State officials did not answer questions about whether Tesla filed documents to operate Robotaxis. Tesla received permission from Arizona on Friday to test autonomous vehicles with safety drivers, but is awaiting approval to test and operate without a driver. Florida does not require a specific operating permit.

Duncrowley, portfolio manager at Night View Capital, a Tesla investor, said it doesn’t matter if Tesla will hit all of Musk’s infamous optimistic timelines as long as it ultimately offers a transformative product. Still, he said investors could ultimately lose patience.

“If we were in the same place in two years,” he said, “I wouldn’t be as an ec.”

Regulators have removed the guard

Tesla’s Bay Area Robotaxi news plans an undecided regulator at the California Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), according to an email exchanged on July 25th seen by Reuters.

“Did your team meet with Tesla to discuss this weekend’s development?” I wrote NHTSA investigator Kareem Habib to a California official. State staff responded that Tesla did not have the necessary permissions.

State Assistant Transport Secretary Emily Warren emailed Tesla public policy staff and senior officials from two other state agencies that oversee autonomous vehicles, complaining of concern over public misconceptions about Tesla’s Bay Area Plan.

Tesla Policy employee Noelani Derrickson told the California Public Utilities Commission in an email response that the family and friends of Tesla employees are planning to ride in a non-motor area.

Warren forced Derrickson to see how information about the “Robotakshi” service reached the public, suggesting that it could be attributed to a “misinterpretation” of a recent Tesla statement to staff and the public. Warren asked: “Are there any plans to publicly clarify the nature of Tesla’s growing Bay Area operation to dispel the chaos?”

Tesla’s Derrickson did not respond directly, but said, “As a general policy, Tesla will not respond to press inquiries,” adding that customers will receive information about Tesla’s riding operations “when it becomes available.”

Derrickson did not respond to requests for comment.

Will Jimmy Kimmel apologise for Charlie Kirk’s comments?

What should Jimmy Kimmel say when the host of a late-night talk show airs? That’s the heart of many viewers.

It was suspended “indefinitely” by ABC on Wednesday, September 17th, almost a week ago since “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Statements of response and support were poured from government officials, Hollywood stars and late-night talk show hosts. Unitarian threats. ”

Kimmel has been suspended over his comments on Charlie Kirk’s death, his politics and President Donald Trump’s reaction to the fatal shooting of September 10th. (This is a complete transcription of what Kimmel said on the September 15th show.)

The suspension followed comments from Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Kerr. He called the monologue “now a very serious problem for Disney,” and “there is a call to fire Kimmel.” Trump congratulated the suspension and said it was “great news for America.”

But the only person we haven’t heard is Kimmel himself. The comedian has not publicly addressed the suspension that ended Monday, September 22, when the Walt Disney Company announced that his show would air after “Thoughtful Conversation.”

So, as “The View” did at the beginning, does Kimmel go on a completely smooth journey with the controversy? Will he apologise to Kirk’s family, as the Sinclair Broadcasting Group requested?

Or will Kimmel get double down and criticize the person responsible for the temporary suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”?

Will Jimmy Kimmel apologise for Charlie Kirk’s comments?

Kimmel is known for pushing back Trump and his administration, but it is unclear what the hosts have on Tuesday, September 23rd. None of them were released beyond the Disney statement on Monday, September 22nd.

“Last Wednesday, we decided to suspend production of the show to avoid further inflammatory tension in our country’s emotional moments,” Disney said in a statement to USA Today. “This is a decision we made because some of the comments felt badly timed and therefore insensitive. We spent our last day having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

For now, Kimmel and his network are in line with one thing: returning tomorrow night at 11:35pm ET.

Turning Point USA returns Jimmy Kimmel “mistake”

According to CNN, Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet has maintained pressure on ABC affiliate station owners after the decision to broadcast Kimmel.

“It’s not surprising to see Disney and ABC’s Caves and Kimmel come back into the air, but that’s their mistake,” the statement read. “NextStar and Sinclair don’t have to make the same choice.”

USA Today contacted NextStar for comments.

Who was the guest at Jimmy Kimmel’s first showback?

It has not yet been revealed whether Kimmel will expect a celebrity guest on the night he returns.

Comedian Wanda Sykes was scheduled to appear in Kimmel’s show “Evening.” “I was getting ready, I was heading to the car and my spokesperson called me and said, ‘Don’t come, the show was first,'” Sykes said of the experience.

Perhaps he could make a guest choice. More than 400 stars, including A-listers like Jennifer Aniston and Tom Hanks, have signed letters in support of Kimmel.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Will you be back forever?

That’s not necessarily the case. Nexstar and Sinclair can choose to preempt the show in other coverage.

In fact, according to a statement to USA Today on Monday, September 22nd, Sinclair’s representative said, “From Tuesday night, Sinclair will be “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

“As we evaluate the show’s potential returns, discussions with ABC are ongoing,” the statement added.

ABC has featured Kimmel’s late-night shows since 2003, but contracts with Kimmel’s network increased in May 2026, according to the Associated Press and CNN. That could mean more changes in the future.

Do I need to buy a used EV? What buyers need to know

0

play

Prices for new EVs continue to rise on average, but so are the costs of typical new cars. As of March, the average new car deal price in the US was nearly $48,000, according to KBB sales data. Things are only predicted to rise from there, thanks to the current state of the global tariff situation and other economic uncertainties.

It pushes more and more people to shop for second-hand cars, making sure that the number of those buyers is increasing and no emissions are included. Used EV sales are climbing faster than new EV sales. “In May 2025, used EV sales rose 32.1% year-on-year, far surpassing the new EV market,” said Stephanie Valdez Streety, Director of Industry Insights at Cox Automotive.

Used EVs are popular, but is it really a good idea to buy one? Is there a more inherent risk to buying a car built around a large battery? Just like buying a used car, there are benefits and risks to purchasing a second-hand EV. Let’s start with the positives.

Beat depreciation

One of the complaints I’ve heard frequently from buyers of new EVs is about how quickly they can depreciate. The EV market moves very quickly every year with bigger batteries and better technology, and cars lose value.

“EVs tend to depreciate faster than gas-powered vehicles in the early days, but they actually benefit the EV buyers they use,” says Valdez Streety. “In many cases, we get relatively new vehicles (often off leases) with the latest technology and significantly reduced low mileage.”

That’s not great news if you buy new ones, and that’s one of the reasons Most EV buyers choose a lease I’m totally buying it. However, if you are using it, high depreciation must be music to your ears.

New vehicle

that A sudden depreciation curve There is another advantage: you can enter a newer used car than you may not.

“Currently, used EVs cost less than $2,000 on average than comparable ice vehicles,” Valdez Streety said. “And in May 2025, 43% of used EVs are priced below $25,000, making it a particularly attractive option for budget-conscious shoppers.”

This means that new used EVs are more affordable than comparable vehicles with internal combustion engines. According to Liz Najman, Market Insights Director at Recurrent Motors, they are easier to find than new second hand ice cars. “The great thing about used EVs is that you can get a much newer model EV than a gas car,” she says. “The used EV market is skewed towards the new model year. In fact, 45% of used EV listings are cars from 2023 to 2025.”

Reduced maintenance

When listing the benefits of buying an EV and cars on ice, one of the biggest cars is Reducing running costs and overall maintenance.

“(EVS) typically have low operational and maintenance costs,” Valdez Streety said. “EVs don’t require oil changes, have fewer moving parts and benefit from recycled brakes, reducing wear on the brake system.”

After buying an EV, it’s definitely a good thing to enjoy, but when you’re thinking about buying someone else’s EV, there are actually a huge advantage. Simply put, if a particular car has very little need for service and maintenance points, then the previous owner has fewer experiences of forgetting.

In other words, it’s easier to get a comprehensive service history, as there are far fewer services needed. However, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to worry about buying a used EV. Focus on the big ones.

The battery is afraid

The biggest concern that most people quote when saying why they don’t want to use a reason why they don’t want to buy an EV is the health of the battery and the cost of potential replacement. There are many reasons to replace the battery Not as worrying as some people Make it – at least an eight-year mandatory 100,000 miles warranty for EVs sold in the US. You will check with the dealer, but in most circumstances the remaining warranty will be transferred to the new owner.

Anyway, it’s important to check the battery health when you’re considering bringing a second-hand EV home, as you don’t want to worry about dealing with such a large exchange, even if it doesn’t take anything. Thankfully there are several ways to do that.

Recurrent Auto offers battery health services called Recurrence Report and Range Score. Think of it as a battery carfax, and you are not that far. It can be used directly through many dealers, including Carmax. “Battery health is one of the most important factors in assessing used EVs,” a Carmax representative said. “That’s why Carmax offers independent third-party battery health assessment tools due to recurrence. Carmax’s stock EVs include battery range scores.

Manheim from Cox Automotive, a VIN-specific battery report. These are automatically included in your AutoTrader list, making it easy to check your battery health.

If that’s not enough, some dealers use hardware battery scanners like Voltest. This allows you to provide a comprehensive report on the batteries of a particular car. This is similar to how you can get an OBDII scan of error codes on a regular used car.

If these options fail, there is a way to check the battery yourself during a normal test drive. Najman recommends taking photos of the gauge cluster on your mobile phone and starting all test drives. Next, take another one. Compare the rated range and odometer before and after driving to feel the function of the car’s battery. “Make sure you’re happy with the number you get,” she says.

She also recommends swinging on a DC fast charger and asking the dealer not to charge the drive with more than 80% battery so that you can ensure that the car can charge properly at both level 3 and level 2 rates.

This is something you need to check on the test drive. Below is a handy checklist that you can use when you’re at a dealer.

Used EV Shopping Checklist

1. High voltage battery

As mentioned above, its health is essential as this is probably the only component that is most expensive inside the car. Use battery health services if possible. Or at least get in the car and drive to make sure the estimated range matches what you expect.

However, please note that the estimated range numbers may vary based on many factors, such as current temperatures and how aggressively you drive your car. If you’re trying to sample the maximum performance during a test drive, if the efficiency doesn’t match the EPA rating, you’ll sag a little.

2. 12 volt battery

Yes, believe it or not, most EVs on the market also have the kind of old-fashioned 12-volt batteries (power aid) that have probably failed at times in inconvenient times on frigid nights when they want to go home.

The best way to test these is to access the battery itself with a multimeter and make sure it’s output. Appropriate voltagehowever, Najman says there is a way to feel that the battery isn’t.

“Test all your HVACs and accessories to make sure they work,” she says. “If it’s advertised, check out Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Do this before you turn on your car. If you do this and your 12V becomes more interesting, ask if they’re going to offer you something new before you get in the car.”

3. corrosion

Many modern EVs utilize corrosion-resistant materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber under construction to save weight. Still, there is usually a considerable amount of steel. So checking for rust remains important, especially for cars living in colder areas.

4. connection

Modern EVs are often as good as their connectivity. If the EV cannot be retrieved online, it cannot lower airborne updates and can’t use the car app to pre-process the cabin or monitor charging.

Assuming your car has an app (such as the FordPass or My BMW app), make sure your dealer has the right credentials and you can sign in so that you can make sure everything works. Send a few requests, such as locking or unlocking the door, and make sure everything here is copaceptic.

5. tire

Most EVs do a better job of protecting the environment than most internal combustion machines, but if there’s one thing they’ve hurt, it’s the tires. EVs are famous for their high wear, which, after all, High torque Their motors can be produced.

So check the treads on all four tires, check the remaining amount and make sure the overall wear is great and even. Tire rotation is one of the service items that EVs need and chew the rubber even faster if not done regularly.

6. accessories

Finally, run through all the accessories that come with your car to make sure it’s all there. This includes basic items such as key FOBs that have been struggling with recent replacements and other EV-specific items such as 120 volt chargers and vehicle-to-road adapters. Not all cars had these when they were new, but if that’s the case, you should get them.

Checking all these boxes will hopefully bring home a new machine that offers not only no emissions, but stress-free long-standing motoring.
