President Trump faces a magazine backlash over freedom of speech concerns

0

Candice Owens and Ben Shapiro, a magazine alliance like Senator Ted Cruz and conservative commentators, warned of government overreach amid calls to fire late-night comedians and indict “hate speech.”

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump is facing rare backlash from many Magazine allies over freedom of speech concerns after the assassination of Charlie Kirk as a Republican who is usually reluctant to criticize government’s Overreach’s Trump warning.

The pushback follows Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Kerr’s threat to ABC to elicit comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who is scheduled to return to the air on September 23, following widespread criticism of the ABC’s move and warnings from Attorney General Pam Bondy about indicting “hate speech.”

Trump cheered Kimmel’s brief pause and called out x to host other late-night shows. Other Republican lawmakers reflected concerns and argued that the government should not decide what is appropriate for the airwaves.

“If you carry Jimmy Kimmel’s show, what the federal government does? Does that seem right for you?” Owens said on the podcast. “If you were on the right and you cheered on this, do you understand? We should never praise the federal actions when it comes to speeches. We are all losing. You have to wake up.”

Shapiro said Kimmel was “Schmack, which should have been aired a few years ago.”

However, Shapiro also said, “We don’t want FCC in the business that tells local affiliates that the license will be removed if the FCC broadcasts material that it deems information to be false.

It is due to return to ABC Tuesday night less than a week after Kimmel’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Walt Disney Company announced it had aired a late-night show of the comedian due to controversial comments about Kirk’s death. However, on September 23, Nexstar Media Group, one of the broadcast television station’s biggest owners, said it remains on its decision not to air Kimmel’s show. Sinclair Broadcast Group has also announced that it will be ahead of Kimmel’s show with its ABC affiliate.

The suspension of ABC’s Kimmel’s show came after Carr publicly threatened to revoke licenses from ABC and its local affiliates if it continued to air late-night programs.

Trump’s close ally, Cruz compared Carr’s tactics to the tactics of the mob boss and denounced the threat of the FCC chairman. “He says, ‘Can we do this easily, or we can do this the hard way,'” Cruz said, referring to Carr, in an episode of his podcast released on September 19th, “It’s just a short time from ‘Goodfellas’. It says, “If anything happens here, it’s a shame.”

Cruz called Carr’s threat “hell-like dangerous” and warned him about the outcome of Democrats returning to the White House one day. “They silence us. They use this power and use it without mercy.”

“It may feel good to threaten Jimmy Kimmel right now, but I regret it when it is used to silence all the conservatives in America.”

Senator R-Indiana praised Cruz’s remarks. “As Americans, we must cherish and protect freedom of speech,” too, too, Sen. Mitch McConnell of R-Kentucky. “There’s no need to like what someone is saying on television to agree that the government shouldn’t be involved here,” said the former Senate majority leader. Republican Sen. Rand Paul called Carr’s warning “absolutely inappropriate” in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Criticism follows the previous Magazine responsibilities after the Justice Department chased “people engaged in hate speech” after Bondi vowed on September 15th.

“Get her off, today,” conservative influencer Matt Walsh wrote to X:

Bondi later retreated her wide threat, writing, “A hate speech that crosses the boundary to the threat of violence is not protected by the initial amendment. It is a crime.”

In response to Kirk’s fatal shooting, White House officials are signaling plans to target liberal organizations accused of promoting political violence. On September 22, White House press chief Karoline Leavitt said Trump would soon take “strong action” against domestic terrorism “dark sauce funding and support.”

In Kimmel’s controversy, Trump suggests that the FCC should go further by considering revoking broadcast licenses from television networks that targeted him with overwhelmingly negative reports. “They give me only bad publicity and coverage,” Trump said. “I think their licenses should probably be taken away. That’s up to Brendan Kerr.”

However, Trump’s idea of expanding the power of the FCC has not been lifted off in the world of Magazine. And the well-known podcasters and influencers who gave Trump a platform before the 2024 presidential election are now accusing him of embracing the “cancellation culture” that the president and his followers once laughed at from the left.

“It’s funny to see people on the right as people on the left,” said Akaash Singh, co-host of the Flagrant Podcast, who welcomed Trump a few weeks before the 2024 election. “From a censorship perspective, freedom of speech is under attack more honestly than ever,” Singh said, following the FCC threat to Kimmel’s show.

fellow co-host Andrew Schultz emphasized that Kirk had a reputation as the first revision absolutist.

“He literally amplified the voices of those he opposed. How do you think he feels about his tragic death being used to silence political opposition?” Schultz said in a recent podcast episode. “Do you think he’ll defend Jimmy’s cancellation? There’s no way. I think he’s furious about it.”

Panic remains after new Trump visa restrictions

Trump has announced new restrictions on H-1B visas for skilled workers. He says it allowed for “a massive change in American workers.”

play

Seattle-based software engineer Henry Pan was on a high-speed train in his hometown of Nanjing, China, when President Donald Trump’s new visa restrictions hit his mobile phone.

He went home with his girlfriend to attend his sister’s wedding, but emails and headlines piled up quickly, urging visa holders to return to the US within 24 hours.

On Friday, September 19th, Trump announced new restrictions on foreigners who hold H-1B visas that allow people with higher education and special skills to work legally in the United States. The president’s declaration sent hundreds of thousands of working professionals, employers and immigration lawyers to Tailspin.

The 1,770-word order denounced the “massive change in American workers” and “systematic abuse” in the H-1B program, and lamented the growth of foreign shares of the workforce in the computer and mathematics profession. We ordered restricted entry for H-1B visa holders.

Chaos continued.

The video on the phone circulated that worried H-1B travelers were about to take off international flights before they took off. Major American high-tech companies, Law firms and research institutes sent panicked emails to H-1B workers, warning them not to leave the country or return to their next flight.

Pan and his girlfriend scrutinised declarations, social media and even Chatgup to understand.

John Madeiros, a Minneapolis-based immigration lawyer who chairs Nilan Johnson Lewis’ corporate practices, said the requirement is as confusing as dramatic and appears to be designed to “feel a sense of confusion.”

“The most shocking part about the declaration issued on Friday evening is that it will come into effect at 12:01am on September 21st,” he said. “That’s how this administration does things: preparation, fire, purpose.”

What is an H-1B visa?

The H-1B visa is a work visa for educated professionals issued to workers such as accountants, software engineers, highly specialized doctors, scientists, and researchers. It can be renewed for up to six years and requires a bachelor’s degree at least. FWD.US, a nonprofit advocating for immigration reform, estimates that over 730,000 people live in the US on H-1B or more than 1.3 million people, including dependents.

The program was renowned for the centre of division among Trump supporters late last year, with billionaire technological mogul Elon Musk (H-1B from South Africa who once lived in the US) published as a supporter of the Maga for the sloppy da of the foreign workers program.

The US government issues approximately 85,000 new H-1Bs each year, and updates hundreds of thousands of existing H-1Bs each year.

Pan, who has a master’s degree in computer science, assumed the worst case scenario.

Although they had just arrived on a week-long holiday that morning, he and his girlfriend fled Nanjing on a Saturday afternoon and boarded a last-minute flight via Seoul, South Korea, to Seattle. He missed his sister’s wedding on Sunday and didn’t let Beijing do it to see her grandparents who had been preparing for her visit for weeks.

“I was at home for just 20 minutes before leaving again,” Pan said. “We both felt really sad.”

Open questions about $100,000 fees

A few days later, H-1B workers, employers and lawyers say there are more questions than answers about how the new limit and $100,000 fees apply.

Trump’s Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick made a comment shortly after Trump signed the declaration that White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt was exposed on social media site X the following day.

Leavitt said the fee is only one-time, not an annual fee. At the time of declaration, overseas H-1B visa holders will not be charged with re-entry. Fees apply only to new visa applications, not current visa holders.

It should have all been that it should have spelled out the bailouts to H-1B workers and their corporate sponsors, but Xiao Wang, chief executive of immigration services firm Boundless Miveligration, said the lack of details left many unanswered questions and made his clients uneasy.

“In a world where missing a checkbox can tell if someone can work in this country, the core is a problem,” he said. “Each clarification of rebutting what was said previously takes hours, if not days, to increase the fear of people doing something wrong and being punished later.”

Madeiros said his corporate client is “going crazy.”

“We have policies that are being done without much thought, and instead of passing through Congress to get meaningful reforms, we have policies being made through social media posts,” he said.

“We are helping employers with large international executives,” he said. “They tell foreigners, “Travel is your own fault, as they don’t know if it doesn’t apply to you.” ”

Growth of the H-1B program

The H-1B program has been expanding since 2000. US Citizenship and Immigration Services approved approximately 400,000 H-1B petitions or renewals for advanced foreign workers in 2024, almost double the number approved in 2000.

The total number of H-1B approvals peaked in 2022, exceeding 440,000. Shortly after the Great Recession, 2010 was the lowest approval in recent history.

The Trump administration claims that brokers are using the H-1B program to import cheap, temporary labor into the United States and fill the technology jobs that can go to American workers.

In 2024, 71% of H-1B petitions approved by USCIS were sent to Indian citizens, according to the agency’s latest annual report. Many of them work in low-paid, temporary categories, experts say. Almost two-thirds of approved petitions were sent to workers in computer-related jobs.

Following the declaration, the White House fact sheet won approvals of thousands of H-1B workers in fiscal year 2025 and laid off thousands of American workers. The White House did not name the company and did not specify whether the hired and laid back workers were in the same department.

However, the administration quietly launched Project Firewall, an enforcement operation to search for abuse by employers in the H-1B program, on the same day as Trump’s declaration.

“By eradicating fraud and abuse, the Department of Labor and federal government partners ensure that highly skilled jobs go to Americans first,” U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez Deremar said in a statement.

Wang, released by USCIS on September 23rd, will give significant weight to applicants in the most skilled category of H-1B Visa Lottery and those who have won university degrees from American universities. It would bring the balance closer to the original intentions of the program, Wang said, bringing in very skilled workers and maintaining those who invested in American education.

But the risk of rapid or sudden change can undermine the competitiveness of the country, Wang said. Eradication to travel to the US is an expensive, multi-year decision.

“It only works when the return on investment is clear,” he said. “People will choose a more stable country like Canada for the long-term damage to the US.”

Short-term panic has long-term effects

A hangover from weekend panic remains for those whose lives and livelihoods are on balance.

Jackie Chan was relaxed at the start of a surf vacation in Coast Japan when news of the H-1B restrictions broke local time at 5am on Saturday. When Trump signed the declaration on YouTube, she saw Hart Race.

“Everyone said the same thing: ‘You have to go back soon,'” recalls the software engineer. “I was terrified. I was worried that my company might fire me if I didn’t come back in time.”

Like Pan, Chen abandoned his vacation, booked a flight that day, returned to the US, arrived just before he thought it was the deadline for Sunday night.

However, a spectacular twist occurred along the way on the flight to Seattle. Leavitt clarifies that existing H-1B holders will not be affected.

“At that moment I felt very angry and irritated. I felt like I was played,” said Chen, who holds a master’s degree in data science. “They don’t value people like us who hold H-1B visas. They can casually say something because we feel that is not important.

The rushing return cost unexpectedly – cancellations, last minute airfares, and after she sublimated her Seattle apartment during her Japanese holiday, she spent $200 per week at the hotel.

For Chen, mental tension is more painful than financial loss.

“One thing is losing two weeks of potentially beautiful holidays,” she said. “The second is that this policy is causing us to suffer back and forth, and we don’t know what’s coming next.”

“This incident made me realize that I might have to find myself in Plan B,” she said. “Maybe it’s not just America.”

Managing Agent AI Age: Autonomy and Accountability

0

Author: Rodrigo Coutinho, co-founder and AI product manager of OutSystems

AI is moving beyond pilot projects and future promises. Today, it is embedded in the industry, with over three-quarters (78%) of organizations using AI in at least one business feature. However, the next leap forward is Agent AI. It can not only provide insights and automate narrow tasks, but it can act as an autonomous agent, adapt to input changes, influence connections with other systems, and business critical decisions. These agents bring greater value, but Agent AI also raises challenges.

Imagine an agent who actively solves customer problems in real time. More autonomy inevitably poses new risks. Without a proper safeguard, AI agents may choose to drift away from their intended purpose or conflict with business rules, regulations, or ethical standards. Navigating this new era requires stronger surveillance, with human judgment, governance frameworks and transparency built into the ground. The possibilities for Agent AI are vast, but so are the obligations associated with deployment. The low-code platform provides one path that acts as a control layer between an autonomous agent and an enterprise system. By incorporating compliance into governance and development, they give organizations the confidence that AI-driven processes will advance their strategic goals without adding unnecessary risks.

Design a safeguard instead of agent AI code

Agent AI is showing a sudden change in the way people interact with software. This illustrates a fundamental change in the relationship between people and software. Traditionally, developers have focused on building applications with clear requirements and predictable output. Now, instead of fragmented applications, teams coordinate an entire ecosystem of agents interacting with people, systems, and data.

As these systems mature, developers move from writing codelines line by line to the definition of safeguards that guide them. Transparency and accountability must be built into the beginning, as these agents can adapt and respond differently to the same input. By incorporating monitoring and compliance into the design, developers ensure that AI-driven decisions are reliable, explainable and aligned to business goals. This change requires developers and IT leaders to embrace the broader role of supervisors and guide both technical and systematic changes over time.

Why Agent AI transparency and control are important

Greater Autonomy exposes organizations to additional vulnerabilities. A recent OutSystems survey found that 64% of technology leaders appeal to governance, trust and safety as the biggest concerns when deploying AI agents at scale. Without strong safeguards, these risks go beyond the compliance gap and include security breaches and reputational damage. The opacity of agent systems makes it difficult for leaders to understand or validate decisions, erode internal and customer trust, leading to concrete risks.

The left-hand agent of unchecked autonomous agents can obscure accountability, broaden the attack surface, and create contradictions on a large scale. Without visualizing why AI systems work, organizations risk losing accountability in critical workflows. At the same time, agents interacting with sensitive data and systems extend the attack surface due to cyber threats, but unsupervised “agent sprawls” can produce redundancy, fragmentation and inconsistent decisions. Together, these challenges highlight the need for a strong governance framework that maintains trust and control as a measure of autonomy.

Scaling AI safely on low-code foundations

Importantly, recruiting agent AI doesn’t require restructuring governance from scratch. Organizations can utilize multiple approaches, including low-code platforms that provide a reliable, scalable framework where security, compliance and governance are already part of the development fabric.

Across the enterprise, IT teams are being asked to embed agents in operations without disrupting what already works. With the right framework, IT teams can deploy AI agents directly to operations across the enterprise without disrupting current workflows or re-engraving the core systems. Organizations have full control over how AI agents work at every step, and ultimately build trust to scale with confidence in the company.

Low code places governance, security, and scalability at the heart of AI adoption. By integrating app and agent development in a single environment, it’s easier to embed compliance and monitoring from the start. The ability to seamlessly integrate into enterprise systems and built-in DevSecops practices help address vulnerabilities before deployment. And out-of-the-box infrastructure allows organizations to confidently scale up the fundamentals of governance and security without reinventing them.

This approach allows organizations to pilot and scale agent AI while maintaining compliance and security intact. Lowcode makes delivery easier with speed and security, giving developers and IT leaders the confidence to advance.

Smarter surveillance of smarter systems

Ultimately, low code provides a reliable route to scale autonomous AI while maintaining trust. By integrating app and agent development in one environment, low code embeds compliance and monitoring from the start. Seamless integration with systems and built-in DevSecops practices helps address vulnerabilities before deployment, but off-the-shelf infrastructure enables scaling without reinventing governance from scratch. For developers and IT leaders, this shift means moving beyond writing code to guide the rules and safeguards that form an autonomous system. In a rapidly changing landscape, low-code offers the flexibility and resilience needed to experiment with confidence, embrace innovation early and maintain trust as AI grows more autonomously.

What is Trump’s approval rating? Polls found Charlie Kirk’s murder to be prominent

0

America’s satisfaction with how things have been going in the US since President Donald Trump took office has slipped to that lowest point, according to a September poll from Gallup.

A poll conducted between September 2 and 16 found 29% of Americans said they were happy, with Republicans making up the majority of the decline from 31% in August. Satisfaction is higher than 20% in January before Trump took office.

The murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk occurred while polls were underway, and Gallup found that he was squeezing American opinions, especially for Republicans.

“The most important issue facing this country… mentions of crime or violence have more than doubled in the past month, rising from 3% in August to 8% in September. Since August 2020, it is the highest level before 2002,” Gallup reported.

Crime mentions have largely increased since September 10th. This is the day Kirk was shot dead in front of thousands at a Utah Valley University speaking event. “National Unity” has also been discovered by Gallup that the concerns are also being raised, which have been mentioned at the highest percentage since January 2021, following the riots at the U.S. Capitol.

Gallup has remained stable in Trump’s approval rate compared to Ocobter while complaints about the country are rising. What is it?

Trump’s approval rating is lower than other presidents

Gallup polls conducted between September 2 and 16 approved 40% of Trump’s job performance, which had not changed since the previous month.

Historical analysis by Gallup shows that Trump’s first September office approval rating – both the 45th and 47th presidents are lower than any other modern president at the same time in his administration. According to Gallup, his September approval is a way that is compared to other presidents in September in the first year of his term.

  • Joe Biden (September 2021) – 43% approval
  • Trump (September 2017) – 37% approved
  • Barack Obama (September 2009) – 52% approval
  • George W. Bush (September 2001) – 76% approval
  • Bill Clinton (September 1993) – 50% approval
  • George HW Bush (September 1989) – 70% approval
  • Ronald Reagan (September 1981) – 52% approval

Gallup surveyed 1,000 US adults with an error of either positive or negative 4 percentage points.

What is the average overall approval for Trump?

The RealClearpolitics poll average shows the gap between those who disapprove Trump and those who approve him. The time graph in The New York Times shows a similar trend.

As of January 27th, Trump received a +6.2 percentage points approval rating, but as of March 13th, it reversed slightly negatively, and there is no show for RealClearpolitics graphics. Approval rating reached the most negative on April 29th, at -7.2% points. This fell around Trump’s 100 Day mark. The controversy over convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was brought into the third week, which again approached that low on July 22 and July 23 at -7.1 percentage points.

His average approval margin as of September 23rd is -6.5 percentage points, according to RealClearPolitics. According to a New York Times aggregator on September 23, the approval margin is -11% points.

Texas, Alabama, will be executed simultaneously this week for men to be executed by Texas this week

0

In Texas, Blaine Millum is executed for the exorcism of a baby girl. In Alabama, Jeffrey West is executed for killing two mothers while robbing a gas station.

play

Texas and Alabama are poised to run death row inmates within minutes on the same day this week.

On Thursday, September 25th, Alabama is set to run 50-year-old Geoffrey West with a relatively new method of nitrogen gas. He was convicted of the 1997 murder of his mother, Margaret Parrish Berry, while robbing the gas station where she worked.

Around the same time, Texas is set to run the 35-year-old Brain Mirror, what Milam and her mother described as “exorcism,” with a fatal injection for the 2008 death of his girlfriend’s 13-month-old baby. Milam was interviewed by German filmmaker Werner Herzog for a 2013 series called “on Death Row.”

Both runs are scheduled until 6pm. If they move forward as expected, the number of executions in the United States this year reaches 33, the most in a year since 2014. Additionally, this year’s execution was held on the same day.

When their time runs out, USA Today looks at each inmate and who the victim is.

Jeffrey West’s victim son: “I don’t want revenge.”

Will Berry was 11 years old. She was lying on the floor during a robbery that earned $250 when West shot her mother, 33, in the back of her head, court documents say. But Berry doesn’t want Alabama to carry out the West, which was 21 at the time of the crime, Berry wrote in an opinion piece published last week with Montgomery advertisers, part of the USA Today Network.

“It won’t take my mother back,” he wrote. “I believe Alabama plays God by trying to execute Mr West. I don’t want to revenge either my name or my mother.”

According to archived stories from the Birmingham News, Margaret Berry, the mother of two, worked at a gas station for several days when West stole it along with her 17-year-old girlfriend.

Berry says he believes that sentences for life without parole are mere punishment. “I think there is an end to this story where Mr. West and I find comfort in each other in the healing power of comfort and forgiveness,” he wrote.

Berry also expressed his dissatisfaction that the Alabama Attorney General’s office had requested that an execution date be set and that no one in Gov. Kay Ivy’s office had informed him when it was scheduled. He added that he hopes that the executions will be on commute, or at least delayed, so that he can meet West and meet “the heart of the heart.”

“I want to forgive him, my mother forgive him, and to tell him that God loves him,” he wrote. “My life has been extremely difficult. I hope Governor Ivy will see how to give me this measure of comfort, and I pray she will find it to save Mr West’s life.”

Ivy wrote to Berry in response, telling him he would not commute to death sentences and ask the Department of Corrections to promote meetings despite policies for in-person visits at prisons and in-person visits between the victims.

Ivy said she previously sentenced one prisoner to death on the victim’s family’s objections, but unlike the West, she “had serious questions about whether the prisoner was really guilty.”

“Alabama law imposes death as a punishment for the worst form of murder,” Ivy wrote in Berry. “This is to stop future murders, prevent killers from killing again, and express the rage of society over such a terrible crime. As governor, it is my strict obligation to carry out these laws.”

Blaine Millum: “I didn’t kill my little girl.”

On December 2, 2008, 18-year-old Brain Millam called 911 to report his daughter’s death in a trailer home just outside Tatum, a small rural town in East Texas near Rhine, Louisiana. (Milam was not her father, but her mother’s fiance.)

When investigators arrive, they find the brutal body of 13 months old Amora Bain Carson. The injuries included 24 bite marks, 18 broken ribs, head to toe fractures, liver tears, liver tears, and a massive injury of nature.

“It’s a bad thing to see in 30 years of law enforcement,” Lt. Col. Reynol Humber, of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, told the Longview News Journal in 2008.

Jeseca Carson, 18, the mother of Milam and Amora, initially told investigators that they left the girl alone for about an hour and then returned to find her dead. When investigators pushed them against them in separate interviews, they eventually said Amora was enveloped in demons and needed an exorcism. Their stories were varied as to who later killed her.

Carson was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Milam was sentenced to death. At the time, he was the youngest death row inmate in the United States.

In a 2013 documentary interviewed by filmmaker Herzog, Miram is Amora is “a great girl” and her first word is “daddy,” referring to Miram.

“I didn’t kill my little girl,” he said in an interview. “I wish I could go back and stop her, but I can’t. I don’t know how that got me to this point, but I did.”

Miram’s lawyers are fighting for access to all DNA testing in the case, and are filing a lawsuit that state post-conviction relief proceedings “in this case, Miram acted to rob the interests of his life and freedom without a legitimate process.”

They also claim that Millam had been unfairly tried for evidence of unreliable bite marks and that he is intellectually disabled. The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit refused to argue.

Milam’s execution is scheduled twice, but both remained on appeal.

When is the next scheduled run?

Nine more executions are scheduled for in eight states by the end of the year after West and Millam, with the US not being seen since 2012, with at least 42 prisoners dead.

The next run will be set on September 30th, when Florida is set to fatally inject Victor Tony Jones due to the stab wounds of Matilda and Jacob Nestle during the 1990 robbery.

It was Florida’s 13th execution, a record promoted by Gov. Ron Desantis signing more death warrants than ever before. Before this year, the most executions Florida has carried out in a year were eight.

October will be a particularly busy month for executions. Seven are scheduled. Five of them will take place in Florida, Mississippi, Missouri, Texas and Arizona for just one four-day period.

Most notably, the scheduled execution of Texas Robert Roberson. Robert Roberson won a rare execution last year after a bipartisan fight to save lives over important questions about his guilt.

Despite record stock prices and uncertain economy, corporate buybacks increase

0

play

American companies are buying back their stocks at a record pace, even when stock prices are at their highest ever.

This type of stock repurchase activity could continue to drive the stock market to new record highs, making it an opportunity to buy every dip along the way, some analysts said.

Researchers at Trading Platform Captital.com wrote “a good emotional indicator” in their notes. “They tell you the management is confident.”

Announcement of a 2025 buyback from Corporate America reached $1 trillion on August 20th. This reached its milestone at the fastest pace ever, according to data from financial research and financial management firm Birinyi Associates. At that rate, the company will buy back more than $1.1 trillion in its shares in 2025, Birinyi said.

Companies often buy back shares when they feel that the stock is undervalued. The backback could reflect management’s confidence in the company and its outlook, experts said.

“Buybacks can be boring footnotes, or they can be beacons,” said Nicholas Vardy, editor of Global Guru Financial Newsletter. “If you’re looking for the boldest moves on Wall Street in 2025, forget about the headlines for IPO (first public service) or M&A (mergers and acquisitions) – the actual story is buried in buyback data.”

Isn’t the economic outlook pessimistic and uncertain?

The economy slowed, weakened the labour market, forced the Federal Reserve last week, and tied benchmark short-term interest rates by a quarter as inflation rates rose amid ongoing tariff uncertainty.

Some economists suggest potential stags and weak economic growth combined with higher inflation.

How can stocks thrive as the economy slows?

“This is a classic case where the stock market is not an economy,” Turnquist said. The S&P 500 companies have surpassed expectations of double-digit revenue growth this year, and those growths are likely to continue into 2026, he said.

Consumers remained resilient, and businesses frontloaded stock before tariffs, Turnquist said. He also said that after Covid-19, companies have a more agile supply chain. The company’s profit margins remain in the 12% range above the five-year average and need to rise, he said.

Morgan Stanley’s chief investment officer Michael Wilson also supports the company with more expected rate cuts and tolerance for inflation above the Fed’s 2% target.

“The government’s intentions are necessary. (Allowing inflation to slightly outweigh the target) Next year, the Fed’s reduction rate, revenue and revenue growth could be much stronger than expected,” he wrote in the memo.

“This is a classic early cycle as the stock market focuses on future improvements in revenue revision/pricing power, and therefore the Fed usually focuses on weaknesses in labour market data,” Wilson said.

How does buybacks affect the stock market?

Stock buybacks reduce the number of good stocks. This will make the company’s finances look better and stock prices will rise.

The company earning $10 million a year has earned $100 per share with 100,000 outstanding shares. If we buy back 10,000 shares, the total outstanding shares will decrease to 90,000 and earnings per share will increase to $111.11 without actually increasing the profits.

After the Broad S&P 500 Index plunged more than 15% in April with President Donald Trump’s first tariff announcement, the S&P 500 recovered to record-breaking highs in part due to strong corporate repurchases, some analysts said.

“We are committed to providing a range of technical strategists at LPL Financial,” said Adam Turnquist, Chief Technical Strategist at LPL Financial. “Perhaps one of the less controversial catalysts, the company’s buybacks, probably further boosted the market’s quick recovery.”

Are all buybacks a good sign for the company?

Critics argue that buybacks artificially inflate stock prices and support executives who receive stock-based compensation.

Buybacks also divert money from investments in workers, growth and innovation, the Biden administration said when it introduced a 1% tax on most publicly traded companies in the US. The tax was expected to rise to 4%, with the aim of reducing deficits by paying fair shares for wealthy businesses and people, improving tax equity and closing loopholes.

Tips to know that stock repurchase is a good sign

Buybacks aren’t necessarily bullish, so investors should consider the signs, Vardy said. Here’s what you should see:

  • Tracking Buyback yield: Find the value of a company’s stock repurchase as a percentage of 10% or more of a repurchase of a company
  • Check out our insider activities: If a corporate insider is buying with the company, it’s bullish.
  • Follow the cash: Debt fuel buyback could be a red flag.
  • search Small echo: Look for a lesser-known company in the same business that mimics the repurchase of large, large companies.

Major League Baseball playoff races have fallen to the wire as multiple postseason spots are still holding onto the hook as the 2025 season approaches its final weekend.

The Guardians in Cleveland ran down the Tigers at the top of American League Central. This is a shocking comeback that could go down as one of the biggest collapses in Detroit baseball history. This week’s rivals scoreboarded the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox in wildcard races while facing off in Cleveland this week.

In the National League, the New York Mets have fallen from the playoff spot for the first time since the beginning of April, nearly completing their own impressive meltdown, and are now fighting against the Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondback and the final NL wildcard spot.

Data quality is the key to AI-driven growth

0

As businesses compete to implement AI, many people find that the success of their projects directly depends on the quality of their data. This dependency stalls many ambitious initiatives and does not create it beyond the experimental proof-of-concept stage.

So, what’s the secret behind turning these experiments into real revenue generators? AI News has caught up with Martin Frederik, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg regional leader of Data Cloud Giant Snowflake.

“There’s no AI strategy without a data strategy,” Frederik says. “AI apps, agents, and models are as effective as the data being built, and even the most sophisticated models can be scarce without a unified, well-governed data infrastructure.”

Improving data quality is key to success in AI projects

This is a familiar story to many organizations. Promising proof of concepts will impress your team, but it will not translate them into a tool to make money for the company. According to Frederick, this often happens as leaders treat technology as their ultimate goal.

Headshot of Martin Frederik, a regional leader in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, AI Data Cloud Giant Snowflake.

“AI is not a destination, it’s a way to achieve business goals,” advises Frederik.

When a project gets stuck, it usually becomes some common perpetrators. The project really doesn’t match what the business needs, the teams aren’t talking to each other, or the data isn’t confusing. It’s easy to be discouraged by statistics that suggest that 80% of AI projects will not reach production, but Frederick offers a different perspective. This isn’t necessarily a failure, he suggests, but it’s “part of the maturation process.”

For those who make the foundation right, the reward is very realistic. A recent Snowflake survey found that 92% of companies are already benefiting from AI investments. In fact, with every pound they spend, they are reclaiming £1.41 with cost cuts and new revenue. The key Frederik Repeats is that from the start, it has a “secured, governed, centralized platform” for data.

It’s not just about technology, it’s about people

Even with the best technology, AI strategies can be flat if the company’s culture is not ready. One of the biggest challenges is to introduce data to the hands of not only the small number of data scientists selected, but also to everyone who needs it. To make AI work at scale, we need to build a strong foundation on “people, processes, and technology.”

This means breaking down the barriers between departments and creating high-quality data and AI tools that everyone can access.

“With proper governance, AI becomes a shared resource rather than a siloed tool,” explains Frederik. When everyone works from a single source of truth, the team stops discussing whose numbers are correct and starts making faster and smarter decisions together.

Next leap: The reason for itself is AI

The true breakthrough we see now is the emergence of AI agents that can understand and infer all kinds of data at once, regardless of the quality of the structure. From neat rows and columns in a spreadsheet to unstructured information about documents, videos and emails. This is a huge step forward considering this unstructured data accounts for 80-90% of typical company data.

The new tool will allow staff to simply ask complex questions in English and get answers directly from the data, regardless of their technical skill level.

Frederick explains this as a move towards what he calls “goal-oriented autonomy.” Up until now, AI has been a helpful assistant you have constantly had to direct. “You ask the question, you get the answer. You ask for the code, you get the snippet,” he points out.

Next-generation AI is different. It can give agents complex goals and know the steps needed on its own, from writing code to drawing info from other apps to providing a complete answer. This automates the most time-consuming parts of the data scientist’s job, such as “boring data cleaning” and “repetitive model tuning.”

result? It releases your brightest mind and focuses on what’s really important. This will help people “from practitioners to strategists” and increase the real value of the business. That’s just a good thing.

2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid is inspiring off-road

0

play

When Subaru pulled the wraps from the redesigned Forester Compact SUV in late 2023, we were pleased with what we saw. The Junior UTE’s improved handling, powertrain and technology helped them get back on track after making the wrong turn on the first drive of the gas model. test Motor trendsThe 2025 SUV of the Year revealed that the new Foster has many abilities from beaten passes (though a proper Subaru should be), but you can use more Grant. To better understand ownership experience, we are making 2025 Forester delivery for long-term reviews.

Subaru saved the best version of the SUV that was probably the last redesigned one. Arrived late for the 2025 model year is the Forester Hybrid, with the second-generation Forester Wilderness Off-Road Variant arriving in 2026 (reaching a different story about this). The company has previously sold a hybrid version of the smaller CrossTrek, with the new CrossTrek Hybrid in 2026, which is the first gas-electric forester to be introduced in the US.

One of the jobs of the Forester Hybrid is to take as much market share as possible from the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V Hybrid. To sample the updated technology and styling of new products and models, Subaru hosted us for a drive event in Woodside, the forested California Bay Area town. There, we drove about seven hours of seating time along winding mountain roads and interstates, and held a 40-minute session on off-road courses.

Hybrid Systems and Packages

There are several approaches that competitors have taken to create hybrid compact SUVs, but one thing is consistent. Nothing was directed at off-roading. Toyota fits the RAV4 hybrid with a gas engine supported by two motors that rotate the front axle, with a third motor living naturally on the rear axle, turning the rear tires when needed (a combination that allows for all-wheel drive). Honda routes the power of two motor hybrid setups to all four tires through a traditional all-wheel drive system, similar to the Hyundai Tucson and Kia sports, but the current CR-V, Tucson or equipment equipment can’t be described as adventurous.

It’s not Subaru. The company maintains the Forester’s substantial ground clearance and symmetric AWD in its hybrid model. The full-time system uses front, rear and central differentiation to provide a constant and varying amount of power for each wheel.

The power supply for that system is a 2.5 liter flat-four, unlike a regular Forester, it runs on an Atkinson Miller combustion cycle to improve efficiency, combining a motor generator unit with a larger traction motor. Continuously, variable automatic transmissions handle changes in ratios. With a standard Forester, if only 14 hp, the standard Forester will increase power, but more is always better, and most people appreciate the efficiency of the hybrid.

While the competitors of Honda and Toyota’s hybrid compact SUVs still offer better fuel efficiency, the Gas-Electric Forester has made a huge stride over them. Subaru coincides with the Hybrid CR-V AWD’s 34 mpg highway rating, earning a total of 35 mpg, just 2 mpg from the rival’s total MPG. The Forester Hybrid also uses a relatively large 16.6 gallon fuel tank like the gas model, the RAV4 uses a 14.5 gallon tank, and the CR-V runs a 14 gallon tank. In part due to the reservoir strengthening, the Forester Hybrid’s operating range is estimated at 581 miles compared to the 536 miles of the RAV4 and the 518 miles of the CR-V.

Forester’s hybrid systems rely on lithium-ion batteries located under the trunk floor. Although Subaru hasn’t released the capacity yet, it is said to be the same size battery as the one found in the CrossTrek Hybrid. The battery location meant eliminating the spare tires in the SUV and providing a standard tire repair kit instead. This Forester suspension is slightly stiffer at the rear, taking into account the additional battery weight.

However, the internal measurements are the same between the gas and hybrid models. The floor height has not been changed, and the only difference in the specs of the SUV is the curb weight and the ramp breakover angle. Of course, the hybrid is heavy (although it may be nearly 300 pounds heavier depending on the trim), but only a 19.3 degree breakover compared to the 19.6 degree on the gas model. The 19-degree approach angle and the 24.6-degree departure angle (24.7 degrees for the sports and touring models) are the same between gas and hybrids.

A flashy atmosphere

For 2025, the hybrid powertrain is available in all Forester grades except the base model. Otherwise, the SUV is equipped as well as having some important differences. The hybrid configurable 12.3-inch driver display (which will be featured on gas models next year) will allow users to toggle between navigation, focus and old school dual-gauge screens, making it a complimentary companion for the Forester 11.6-inch central touchscreen.

This is the same practical and somewhat attractive interior that comes in the latest gas models. The Sport and Limited Trims features Startex Faux Leather upholstery, but the tour’s top models come with a real hideaway. Outside, the hybrid gets exclusive new paint colours, Daybreak Blue Pearl, and top trim is available in a two-tone look with a contrasting crystal black silica roof.

The front of the Forester Hybrid is lined with more insulation than the already quieter gas model, and the gas-electric version is actually even quieter on the road. It does an effective job of muffing avid gas engines in rare times when emphasized under heavy throttle inputs. However, it is difficult to identify whether the Forester Hybrid is faster than the gas model. If you have the opportunity to run the Forester Hybrid through instrumentation testing, you will be able to make sure you know if there is enough extra power to offset the extra weight of the Subaru and overtake the gas model.

Luckily, the Forester is already a solid driver SUV, and the Hybrid only offers what you like. The power supply feels smooth due to the electric motor (the SUVs almost slip due to the slow takeoff). Consistency of brake pedal action can generally be a painful place for hybrids, but here the handoff between motors regeneration and friction brakes under the brakes is unaware of the driver’s feet.

Like gas models, the steering is direct. This is part of the crossover’s WRX-derived electric assist dual pinion steering rack, and the ride is well constructed. The Forester is a small SUV that is equally easy and attractive to drive, and the hybrid is built only on it.

There are still off-road products

To drive the fact that AWD systems are more capable or at least friendly partners than other compact SUVs (hybrid or other), Subaru loosened the forested gravel loops present in ruts, whoo, and all sorts of fire terrain. It’s amazing how Forester can achieve with an 8.7-inch ground clearance, Subaru’s AWD prowess and an X-mode off-road setting with hill descent control. He drove the Forester Hybrid and its main rivals, the RAV4 Hybrid and CR-V Hybrid, closing the movement on short, steep hill climbs. It was a scintch for Suby, but Honda didn’t make up for it at all as Toyota’s brain was a bit confused about trying to make power into a vector.

The most popular Forester Award is…

The Hybrid and Wilderness models were two biggest holes in the new Forester lineup, but Subaru met the latter by extending the previous generation Forester Wilderness to an additional model and selling it along with the new mainstream Forester model. It’s midway through both and hasn’t sampled the 2026 wilderness yet, so it’s struggling to curb expectations that the Forester Hybrid is not one of the most popular versions. Compact SUVs are in general already the company’s hottest seller, and this hybrid deals with its inactive efficiency and decent power in one attractive package.

Depending on the trim, the markup for gas models ranges from just $1,400 for touring trims to $3,185 for sports. The rivals here are generally slightly more affordable, but the trade-off is Subie’s ability and comfortable packaging.

Adelita Grijalva wins Arizona special election and fills the house sheet

play

WASHINGTON – Democrat Adelita Grialba won a special election in Arizona, filling the seats in the US vacant US home by her late father, Raul Grialba, The New York Times and NBC News.

Adelita Grijalva, a former member of the Pima County Board of Supervisors, defeated Daniel Butierez, a registered contractor and a Republican opponent. She currently represents Arizona’s Deep Blue Seventh Congressional District, covering part of Tucson, Arizona.

Her victory means Democrats currently hold 214 seats in the house while Republicans control 219 seats. House Speaker Mike Johnson had already faced difficulties getting the law across the finish line with a majority of the razor-thin GOPs. He can afford to lose two Republican votes on a particular bill if all Democrats oppose it.

Raúl Grijalva passed away on March 77 after being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2024. He is one of three House Democrats who have died since the start of the 119th Congress in January. Two others are Sylvestar Turner of Texas and Rep. Gerald Connolly of Virginia.

Adelita Grijalva, 54, launched a parliamentary campaign in March. She came to the top of the Primary on July 15th, beating a handful of fellow Democrats for the nominations, including top competitors Deja Foxx and Daniel Hernandez.

Adelita Grijalva told Politico that she supports bipartisan efforts to force the publication of files related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Donald Trump Trump slams ABC for Jimmy Kimmel Return

Back from the controversial halt of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” within an hour, President Donald Trump appears to have threatened to sue ABC over his decision to revive the late-night television host.

On September 17, ABC shockedly revealed that Jimmy Kimmel’s show would be “preempted” indefinitely following rage from Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Kerr. However, the Walt Disney Company announced that Kimmel’s show will air on Tuesday, September 23rd, after “thoughtful conversation.”

Prior to Kimmel’s highly anticipated monologue, the president approached the ABC decision and worked on a true society to share his applause in filing a lawsuit against the network.

“I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job,” Trump wrote. “The White House was told by ABC that his show had been cancelled! Something happened between that time and now, his audience was gone and his ‘talent’ wasn’t there. ”

USA Today has contacted ABC about Trump’s cancellation assumption.

“Why do they want people who are so poor, not funny and putting their network at risk by playing 99% positive Democrat trash?” Trump continued.

Kimmel’s suspension said, “This can be done in an easy way or the hard way,” after FCC chairman Car appears to have threatened ABC, Disney and Kimmel on a YouTube episode of commentator Benny Johnson’s show on September 17th.

Nexstar Media Group Inc. confirmed that the show will be suspended from airing on September 17th at 32 ABC affiliates, and said Sinclair Broadcast Group will replace Kimmel’s Friday time slot with a special memory honoring ABC affiliate Kirk (later retreated on Monday, September 22nd).

Trump also said Kimmel was called the “another arm” of the Democratic National Committee and that, to the best of his knowledge, ABC, which airs the show, would be considered “a major illegal campaign contribution.”

Donald Trump threatens to sue ABC for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Trump also referred to the March 2024 lawsuit against ABC News, where host George Stephanopoulos asked about a question about E. Jean Carroll, where ju-searchers found the president was liable for sexual abuse and defamation. In December, ABC News agreed to a $15 million settlement, according to Reuters.

“I think we’re going to test ABC on this, let’s see how we do it,” Trump threatened on Tuesday, September 23rd.

Even after Monday’s Disney statement, Sinclair was still not tired of their stance on Kimmel.

“From Tuesday night, Sinclair will be ahead of Jimmy Kimmel Live! It will replace news programming across the ABC affiliate station,” the company said in a statement to USA Today. “A discussion with ABC is ongoing in assessing the show’s potential returns.” Sinclair is the largest owner of 38 ABC stations nationwide.

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. announced on Tuesday, September 23rd that the show will not be airing on ABC’s affiliate stations. “We support that pending decision that we are committed to promoting an environment of constructive dialogue where all parties are respectful in the markets we serve,” the company said in a press release.

Ford’s new headquarters near the Henry Ford Museum spews an automated design renaissance

0

play

  • Ford Motor will be moving from its iconic glass home to its headquarters in New World for the next two years.
  • Ford employees and industry experts say the move will help Ford enter a new era of technological advancement.
  • Ford employees have designed a clay replica of the already large New World Headquarters building.

Jeff Royer, a lead clay sculptor at Ford Motor Co., can see Ford’s past and future every day.

After working at Ford for 15 years, Royer spends part of his day modeling the clay sculptures of a car at the rest of Ford’s old product development center in Dearborn, Michigan, across from the Henry Ford Museum. He then goes to a new studio nearby and soon becomes Ford’s new world headquarters building, where he does the rest of his work.

“I have legs in the old building and feet in the new building,” Royer told Detroit Free Press, part of the USA Today network, on September 15, when the car manufacturer announced it was in operation. “So every day, it reminds us where we went and where we were going.”

Ford’s product development centre was, at one point, at one point, Royer said. Now, “It was decades ago. The new design studios are very human-centric. They focus on users from a natural light perspective.”

A flood of natural light floods when Royer is at work not only “buoys” his spirit, but also promotes creativity. He believes that if the automaker fills the building with around 4,000 engineers, designers and executives over the next two years, the environment will improve the quality of the work that comes out of Ford employees.

After all, the new building is a step into the next century of advances in the technology and design of automobile manufacturers, many experts said.

“This is all part of Ford building its future brand and strategy,” said Dan Ives, managing director of Wedbush Securities. “HQ is important and shows that Ford is leaping towards the innovation path while maintaining its 313 roots.”

Shifting the center of gravity

On the morning of September 15th, Ford brought news to employees and the world about shaking Metro Detroit. The automaker retains the iconic World HQ building on Michigan Avenue, known as Glass House.

Dearborn’s center of gravity has shifted to news, but the move is that many industry observers need to do for Ford to deliver the best future technology and attract and retain talent.

“We’ve heard that the World HQ buildings are 70 years old and are corrupted from within, but we need one big root canal,” said Jim Seabitt, owner of Village Ford car dealerships on Michigan Avenue. “So making this move means everything in the world to me.”

Ford will dedicate the new buildings to Oakwood Boulevard and Village Road as the new Ford World Headquarters in November. It is four stories compared to a 12-storey glass house. However, the new space can accommodate 4,000 people compared to the 2,000 people in the glass house.

“It’s a big, big building,” Seabitt said. “It looks like the Pentagon.”

In addition to being twice the size of a glass house, the new building is much better. Mark DePaori, newly elected director of UAW Region 1A and former vice president of UAW Local 600 at Ford’s Rouge Complex, said he hopes Ford will move its global headquarters after seeing what Ford is building.

“If you look at the state-of-the-art facility they set up, and if you compare it to the current World HQ, it becomes a huge building. “I think they’ve given it this long because of the historic presence of the (glass house), but this is a much better facility.”

Depaoli said that having engineering, design and executives housed in one location will help us deliver the best products. But he also has a bittersweet feeling.

“Henry Ford II has set the world headquarters so he can see Rouge from his office, and obviously I’m biased towards Rouge,” DePaori said. “That’s why I hate seeing it go.”

Destroy the old one and take it down with the new one

Ford plans to vacate the glass house by the second quarter of 2026 and demolish it by the end of 2027 or mid-2028 to make way for the area’s green space.

Approximately 500 employees are already working in the new building, and an additional 1,500 employees will begin moving to the New World Headquarters in October and November. Afterwards, Ford will do some demolition and construction to complete more demolition and construction before the remaining 2,000 employees move by 2027.

Seabit said the new location would be closer to his dealership and could boost his business. But he hates seeing the glass house drop.

“Important to my building,” Seabitt said of his dealership with the famous round showroom, a nod to Ford’s famous Rotunda Center. “I like iconic things so I hate seeing (glass house) go down, but this is a torch passing, and that’s right. They’d spent a lot of money rehabilitating that building.”

Morningstar auto analyst David Wyston said Ford isn’t doing all this just to get a new office. We want to be further integrated between all our teams and the new facility. The new facility is better suited than a glass home. Built in the 1950s, the glass house was designed with an office with doors rather than an open meeting space designed to promote collaboration. Additionally, the new facility may help recruit “people who think glass homes are outdated today,” he said.

Mike Ramsey, vice president team manager for Automotive, Transport and Crossmakers at Gartner Inc., said the move is a key moment for Ford and Metro Detroit. Glass Houses are “memorable and interesting architecture” that is far from the “center of the company.”

“Main Campus Ford, right next to Henry Ford and its test track, is a more logical place to put executives,” Ramsey said. “The (glass house) was never far, but we continued to create a separation from the executives and the company’s centre.”

Glasshouse was one of Ford’s six world headquarters in its 122-year history. Ford has been using Glass House as its World HQ since 1956. Automakers have made many historic decisions that shape the company, including the creation of the Mustang in the 1960s and former CEO Alan Mullary saving the company from bankruptcy in the Great Recession of 2008, but industry observers say it’s time to move on.

In fact, Eric Gordon, a professor at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, says the move “can be the most iconic change other than Ford replacing the company’s blue oval logo. Ford says he leaves a part of that legacy behind.”

What GM and Ford hope for their new headquarters

The Detroit automaker is not the only Detroit automaker to recently decide to move around the world headquarters.

In April 2024, General Motors said it would move from the Detroit waterfront Renaissance Center on Woodward Avenue in 2025 to the billionaire Detroit building.

Malick Masters, a business professor at Wayne State University, told Ford and GM that opening a new global headquarters represents more than a geographical relocation.

“It makes a statement about the importance of opening a new chapter in the history of an organization,” Masters said in an email to the Detroit Free Press. “In this respect, the architecture of the new facility offers an opportunity to explore new approaches to the sociotechnical aspects of work design and related human interaction.”

In other words, businesses want to not only work cleaner places, but also want to improve their business by attracting the best talent and providing employees with new facilities and latest technology.

“If this move can bring in more communication between product development and other companies, it’s probably a good move in the long run,” said Wyston of Morningstar. “Having an on-site studio or garage means executives can visit these areas quickly and perhaps more frequently. Real-time feedback will ultimately allow them to travel through the vehicle market faster.”

Art Wheaton, director of Labor Studies at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, said the relocation of the world headquarters was also important. Ford refused to say how much he was spending on the New World Headquarters Complex, but the 2016 project cost estimate was $1.2 billion.

Wheaton said he also emphasized the desire to be integrated through the design and engineering process and the less “glass house” filled with executives alone.

“Third, it highlights the changing needs of architectural design,” Wheaton said in an email. “Having more facilities in the workplace (such as restaurants) indicates that the company values its employees and makes the workplace more kind. Staying in Dearborn indicates that it’s not a cost-cutting mission to encourage employees to leave like an out-of-state move in search of low taxes.”

Automotive technology meets architecture

Ford has already shown what new facilities can do by combining the automotive industry with the world of architecture. Royer and 35 other employees created the first such reenactment in Ford history, the New World Headquarters clay sculpture.

Royer has been working with both the old PDC and the new hub since late May, and the team has spent about five weeks creating a clay architectural model for the new World HQ building, even if the actual building continues.

The new 2.1 million square foot headquarters building will feature six studios and a first-floor manufacturing department for painting and rapid prototyping, as well as the creation of wood, metal and trim.

Royer, who worked as an architect before joining Ford 15 years ago, said that the headquarters of Miniature Clay World would be something people can use to navigate the huge spaces in real life.

“In fact, it was an idea from another group who helped put together a story about the new building,” Royer said of the clay model. “It was their brainchild that they’ve always been using clay models for cars. What if they did a clay model for buildings? It’s a very unique way to represent the traditional means of doing architectural projects and architectural models for paper and wood.”

Ford said the team will produce a detailed centre courtyard of clay models using large-scale 3D printing available at its headquarters in the New World. Additionally, custom wood tables have been built to support the model. The model will be on display at the headquarters of the New World, beyond the grand opening on September 15th.

Trump pans climate change and promotes his energy agenda in his UN speech

0

play

The day before the UN Summit on Climate Change, President Donald Trump made a broad statement to the UN General Assembly on September 23, including calling the climate science and renewable energy initiatives “fraud” and “green fraud.”

Despite decades of evidence from the federal government and leading climate scientists around the world regarding the negative effects of extreme rainfall, drought and sea level rise as a result of warming climates, the president has doubled his previous efforts to downplay climate concerns and criticised many in Europe for its renewable energy efforts.

The president raised inaccurate information on global cooling theories of the early 20th century, raising questions about global warming and climate change. “In my opinion, this is the biggest fraudulent job done in the world to date.”

Climate scientists and environmental organizations responded immediately to the president’s remarks, citing his long history of calling climate science a “hoax” despite the periodic surges of temperatures across the world and across the US to record highs. Warming temperatures are associated with hurricane rainy, long droughts and more extreme rain events around the world.

“President Trump and his administration continue to vent lies and disinformation about the overwhelming benefits of climate science and clean energy. This is a serious damage to the American people.” “Climate change is here, it’s expensive, and people need real solutions, not propaganda designed to boost the benefits of fossil fuel polluters.”

The president’s remarks coincided with Climate Week, where businesses, global officials, scientists and nonprofits gathered in New York to discuss climate change efforts alongside a general assembly meeting. The UN Climate Summit will be held on Wednesday, September 24th, with China set forth this week’s latest target targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

For over a century, scientists have documented how fossil fuel emissions increase heat trapped gases in the atmosphere, shaking the balance of nature and warming the planets.

According to the World Resources Institute, global greenhouse gas emissions rose 51% between 1990 and 2021. Because most of these emissions come from energy production, governments around the world, including the US, have set goals to reduce emissions and increase wind and solar use to prevent the worst effects of climate change.

Greenhouse gas emissions and renewable energy

To the United Nations, Trump touted his executive order to “unleash large-scale energy production,” and shyed Europe with a 37% reduction in its own carbon footprint.

“As for all of that sacrifices, more than that, it was completely wiped out, and then there have been some with a global increase of 54%, many of which come from China,” he said. He correctly asserted that China’s global carbon footprint from flammable fuels accounts for a large majority of the world’s current emissions. In 2022, the country’s emissions accounted for 31.1% of energy-related emissions, the International Energy Association reported.

President Trump told the General Assembly that “everything is bankrupt,” praised Germany for “returning where they were” with fossil fuels and nuclear weapons.

“I was right about everything,” Trump told the assembled leaders and officials. “And I’m saying that if you don’t run away from the green energy scam, your country will fail.”

However, Reuters recently reported that European manufacturing activities expanded in August for the first time since mid-2022, due to a surge in domestic demand and production volume, raising optimism about future production.

China’s cumulative greenhouse gas emissions have surpassed the emissions of 27 European Union members, but Cleitus said cumulative emissions from developed countries in the US have made the biggest contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, which have long been far ahead of the US, according to Carbon Brief. Cletos said the president could not point out that China’s emissions have skyrocketed as exports to US and European consumers are rising.

The president also did not point out that China has begun to cut greenhouse gas emissions as it moves forward in developing and producing renewable energy. The country has installed wind and solar projects faster than any other country, and today there is almost half of the world’s wind farms, USA Today previously reported. China’s carbon footprint from the electricity sector fell by almost 3% in the first half of this year, as solar power growth coincided with rising electricity demand.

In 2023, China combined more winds and sun than other parts of the world. In July 2025, the country accounted for 74% of all wind and solar projects under construction worldwide. In May, China’s solar capacity reached 1,000 gigawatts. The current solar capacity in the United States is 134 gigawatts.

China has previously disappointed some UN countries with its overwhelming goal of reducing greenhouse gases, but reaching emissions targets has led to increased interest in listening to what China could announce this week, Cleetus said. A recent analysis from Carbon Brief shows that the country’s record solar capacity addition could potentially target China to reduce emissions overall over 2025, with some analysts saying its greenhouse gas emissions could have peaked.

The Federal Government’s Changing Way on Climate Change

Federal scientists have warned about the negative effects of climate change since at least 1974. For decades, the US military has documented concerns about the increased impact of sea level rise on naval facilities and the challenges protecting national security amid thinning of Arctic sea ice.

The president cited some of the more disastrous climate predictions from decades ago, noting that they have yet to prove that they are true. Some of the president’s statements are Echo’s claims proposed by the Heritage Foundation and the fossil fuel pro-fuel organizations that worked to counter climate change actions.

The President did not mention Indigenous communities or Pacific Island countries engaged in migration efforts with Australia. This has reached an agreement with Australia to begin slowly relocating citizens. In Alaska, Oregon and elsewhere in the United States, the federal government has helped to develop plans to relocate or protect several tribal communities and villages in Alaskan villages. In early January 2025, the Bureau of Land Management website explained that the community is in an area where climate change is no longer inhabited and has mentioned eight times. That description was then changed to one climate reference.

During his first eight months of office, the administration oversaw many controversial steps to downplay the impact on climate change, including removing references to climate change from several federal websites, termination of Climate.gov websites, and the next installment of the national climate assessment. The United States has also withdrawn its participation in the next UN intergovernmental panel on climate change.

Hours after the president’s speech, Berkeley Earth released its global climate overview for August, saying it was the third warmest August since instrumental records began in 1850, and 2025 was 95.2% likely to be the third warmest year.

September Atlantic Hurricane Prediction Looks Like “Complete Confusion”

0

This week, complex weather dances are underway in the Central Atlantic, as the developing tropical systems are trying to put together their actions.

play

This week, complex weather dances are underway in the Central Atlantic, as the developing tropical systems are trying to put together their actions.

“There are two tropical waves moving through the Atlantic that could develop this week,” Accuweather hurricane expert Alex Dasilva said in an email to USA Today.

Since neither is a designated storm, the two systems have been called “Invest 93L” and “Invest94L” by the National Hurricane Centre.

The peak of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season may have arrived later than historic average, but activity is clearly on the rise, predictors warned on September 23.

The developing system is in the background of what has been a quiet season so far, and there have been no hurricane landings this year. Gabriel, the second hurricane of the season, continues to scream towards the sea on his way to Europe.

The Atlantic System on the Move

“The two waves we’ve been tracking are now tagged as Invest 93L (the Eastern wave that looks a little more robust) and Invest 94L (the West). There’s still a lot of uncertainty about how these systems interact.”

“The 93L is quite likely to become a repeat hurricane similar to Gabriel. The 94L could take a more west coast truck and pose a threat to the east coast, but it’s not clear how strong it will become due to its interaction with the island,” Hazelton said. “And of course, these waves are close enough that we can see the direct and/or indirect interactions between them. Complex predictions!”

Atlantic hurricane predictions include “complete confusion”

The upper air pattern in the southwest Atlantic is “complete disruption,” meaning that uncertainty will increase dramatically, says Houston-based meteorologist Matt Lanza, who said he was “The Eyewall” in his subsack “The Eyewall” on September 23rd.

“The whole pattern is monitoring the East Coast for next week or so,” he said. “But the uncertainty is very high, and a lot is happening in small areas, and one feature is affecting the other areas.”

“People on the East Coast from Florida to New England will need to monitor the progress of these systems in the coming days to see if they can pull out signals from this, because they can’t now.”

Hurricane Gabriel ends the scene

“Hurricane Gabriel remains impressive as a Category 4 storm in the Mid-Atlantic Ocean,” said weather trader meteorologist Ryan Maue in the Materials Post on September 23.

The Hurricane Centre said the hurricane watch was wound up by Azores weather services. “Clocks are usually issued 48 hours before the expected first outbreak of tropical storm-force winds, a condition that makes external preparation difficult or dangerous,” the Hurricane Center said.

“Gabriel was able to bring a ferocious situation to the Azores from late Thursday until early Friday, but it’s too early to know if it’s going north of the Portuguese Islands or soon,” WPLG-TV Hurricane Specialist Michael Lowry said in the Subsack Post. “For now, the model suggests a more direct threat to less populated northern islands like Flores and Corvo.”

“It’s still a little too early to say how it will affect Europe, but the low approach left by early next week could be approaching Portugal.”

US influence from Gabriel

The US influence from Gabriel includes rough waves on the East Coast and dangerous swimming conditions.

“The swell created by Gabriel will continue to affect Bermuda, the US East Coast and Atlantic Canada for the next few days,” the National Hurricane Centre said. “These swells are expected to create life-threatening surfing and tear current conditions.”

The National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida warned that “the risk of a flow of life-threatening clefts on the beaches as they swell from the major parts of faraway Hurricane Gabriel. No advice has been given to entering the waves.”

The trial of the FTC lawsuit against Amazon over Prime begins. What do you know?

0

“The bottom line means neither Amazon nor the individual defendants did anything wrong…” Amazon said in a statement.

play

This week, ju-describers are beginning to hear the debate in a highly anticipated lawsuit brought against Amazon over two years ago, claiming that the media giant is “Dused” customers and registering with Prime.

The FTC filed a lawsuit against Amazon in June 2023, claiming that the company had intentionally made it difficult for customers to register with the Prime Subscription Program without consent and to knowingly cancel the subscription. The FTC claims that Amazon has used “operating, forced or deceptive user interface designs” to trick customers into signing up for Prime’s auto-renewal subscription.

The ju adjudication in the case filed in US District Court for the Western District of Washington was selected on Monday, September 22nd. The first hearing of the trial, which begins Tuesday, September 23rd, began on Tuesday, September 23rd, according to court documents.

The ongoing lawsuit is not the first time the FTC has recently made a big fuss over Amazon’s business. In July, the FTC warned Amazon that several third-party sellers on the site had mistakenly claimed that the product was made in the US. The FTC urged Amazon to take “corrective action” against these sellers.

As the trial progresses, there are things we know about ongoing litigation.

Why is FTC suing Amazon?

“Amazon not only irritates users, but also sacrificed a significant amount of money, but also repeatedly tricked people into subscriptions without agreeing,” FTC Chairman Lina M. Khan said in a 2023 news release. “These manipulative tactics hurt consumers and law-abiding businesses alike. The FTC continues to vigorously protect Americans from “dark patterns” and other unfair or deceptive practices in the digital market. ”

In a summary of the trial filed on September 15, the FTC was used to target specific languages on Amazon and encourage customers to sign up for Prime. The FTC urged customers to check out by referring to a button on the Amazon website that read “Get free same-day delivery.” FTC claims that this language gives the impression that it only applies to products that customers are purchasing. Instead, when a customer clicks the button, they will be registered for Prime “even if the customer has not completed purchasing the product.”

The FTC also claims that, when this message is presented to customers, it does not hide the fine print prime subscription details, but rather posts these details on a completely different page, as Amazon outlined in its trial summary.

In addition to using “dark patterns” to let customers subscribe to Amazon Prime, FTC claims that Amazon makes it difficult for subscribers to cancel their subscriptions.

The Amazon Prime cancellation process involves customers getting customers through “multiple steps” and FTC adds that the company is using confusing phrasing, adding that customers are effectively convinced that they have actually cancelled their subscription.

Why does Amazon say it?

Amazon continues to deny the FTC’s claims.

“The bottom line means neither Amazon nor the individual defendants did anything wrong. I’m sure the facts show that these executives acted properly.

How does litigation affect consumers?

For now, Amazon continues to work as usual. If the court decides in favour of the FTC, Amazon may need to change its language and process to sign up and cancel an Amazon Prime subscription.

Leonardo DiCaprio retires regrets in “Fighting after Fight”

Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro collaborate for the first time in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Fighting after Battle”

play

  • Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro are stars of Paul Thomas Anderson’s new satire, “The Next Battle” (at theatre on September 26th).
  • DiCaprio plays the former revolutionary of Stoner, a role (and wardrobe) with the “man” shade of “Big Lebowski.”
  • Leo DiCaprio says, “We’re fighting one after another.” One of his biggest regrets passes Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1997 film “Boogie Night.”

LOS ANGELES – Among the serious themes of political struggle, oppression and resistance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s big budget satire, there’s “Fighting Like This,” a laughing comedy, especially when Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro share the screen for the first time.

DiCaprio, 50, is the original revolutionary of a rat red robe, bosai hair and oversized sunglasses, and as present-day stoner Bob Ferguson, overturns his image of a major Hollywood man, who is forced to act by a pro-arms enforcer to save himself and his daughter (Chase Infinity).

There are clear similarities between the role of “The Dude” in Jeff Bridges’s “The Dude.” “The Big Lebowski.”

“If he was placed in a modern context and revolutionary, think about the ‘man’,” DiCaprio talks about Roeb, speaking in a co-interview with Del Toro for a new film (September 26th in theatres). “I have one outfit, so there was a lot of discussion. Bob has his cape. He is a red robe that was stoned into the house alone when the enormous powers tried to ruin his life.”

58-year-old Del Toro intervene as local karate instructor, Sergio St. Carlos.

“Paul wants to laugh — you could see him want to laugh,” says Del Toro, who mimics the director’s restrained behind the scenes laughter.

If Dicaprio fans were imagining Debonair’s “Great Gatsby” moment with a two-hour, 40-minute caper, think about it again. Bob is a manly stoner who hates the world’s Smaldi billionaires.

“These flawed characters are just trying to find a way to these imperialist powers,” says DiCaprio. “It overturns all expectations, so it’s a genius.”

The trailer for “Fighting after Battle” stars Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio plays a former revolutionary who scrambles to find his missing daughter when his former nemesis returns to “fighting after battle.”

“One Battle” catches up to his daughter Willa (Infiniti), whose long-time ago has been captured, and Ferguson, who has been hiding for 16 years. When obsessed pursuer Colonel Stephen J. Lockjoe (Shawn Penn) finally pursued Bob Down, his paranoid but beloved father smoked a ton of marijuana on his couch.

Surprise Raid explains why Bob’s red plaid loungewear will become his clothes when he runs, chasing after Lock Joe, who adducted Willa. Anderson had Bob Don suggested a military poncho to Don.

“But I asked, ‘Why is he wearing a poncho when it’s not raining?” DiCaprio says. Anderson said: “‘It’s okay, we have robes. That’s all.’ Bob is not a traditional hero.

Sergio Sensei Sergio was wiped out in off-hour drama with martial arts GI in sandals and socks. “Go, go, go, go, keep your karate pants forever,” says Del Toro.

Bob’s escape apparel in a two-day battle for daughter’s survival features sunglasses that protect cataracts comically stolen from drugstore racks. Personally, I chose the color that is a bit troublesome.

“The film has a strange Star Wars theme,” says DiCaprio. “I had this vision of these wraparound optical glasses like Boba Fett, and they are the ones I had to choose.”

The film’s trailer teases the comedy, including a gag that separates the dynamic duo as Shinsei Sergio sprint through a trapdoor instantly hidden by a rug packed in spring.

“The rolling on that carpet is as funny as the three Storges and Buster Keaton,” says Del Toro, who throws French terminology for undefined admiration. “It’s just a small thing I don’t know what. ”

“Cherries on top of it,” DiCaprio asked.

Benicio del Toro drove “Diamond” Leonardo DiCaprio strolled around

The two meet again for a short road trip that gets grossed by chasing the police. DiCaprio praises Del Toro’s performance while driving. “There are a lot of plots to cover while he drives at 40, 50 mph through an abandoned town outside El Paso,” says DiCaprio. “He’s turning the hairpin with a Vista Vision camera on the hood.”

Del Toro says he drove with great care to the scene when his red robe screen partner climbed out of the open window.

“I had a Leo, a diamond hanging outside the car. I couldn’t drop the diamond.”

The revolutionary satire was perfect for George, the father of DiCaprio’s “Peace Lover Hippie,” who attended the film’s Hollywood World premiere. “He loved the theme of this film,” says DiCaprio.

George made his famous son appearing in Anderson films and made his cameo film debut in 2021’s “Licolis Pizza” as the owner of a wig shop and waterbed salesman. “I got a call from Paul and I thought he was calling me something,” DiCaprio said. “And Paul was like, ‘I actually want to talk to your dad.” “

Leo DiCaprio is happy to be involved in “Fighting after Fight” after “Big Regrets.”

Del Toro played maritime lawyer Sauncho Smilax in Anderson’s 2014 noir comedy “Insternent Vice.”

“It’s one of the career checks to work with Paul,” says Del Toro.

“For me too, after taking over the role of Dark Digler in Anderson’s 1997 “Boogie Night,” the peaceful DiCaprio adds. (The role went to Mark Wahlberg.)

“Yeah, that’s a regret, but that’s because of my admiration for the inventive films of my generation. I love the world (Anderson) to create. They’re a lasting work of art. So, it’s not a regret, but awful.

Cracker Barrel Faces Traffic Slump After Logo Drama

Cracker Barrel recently ruled the headline after changing its logo, and even President Donald Trump put a lot of emphasis on debate.

Following the fiasco, the leader said he hopes for poor traffic at the restaurant for the remainder of 2025.

Traffic fell by about 1% in early August, Chief Financial Officer Craig Penmelis said in a call from investors following his fourth quarter earnings report on September 17.

Since August 19, the date of the official logo change, traffic has dropped by about 8%, he continued. The company is expected to see another 7% to 8% decline if the same trend continues. Total quarterly revenue was $868 million, up 4.4%.

Cracker barrels returned to the “old timer” logo after protest

Cracker Barrel president and CEO Julie Masino said the company worked quickly to quickly revise the original logo change. In August, the company changed its logo to one without a man.

The change was filled with extensive public protests from cracker barrel fans.

“We would like to thank our guests for sharing their voices and their passion for cracker barrels over the last few weeks,” Messino said in writing. “We listen, go back to the ‘Old Timer’ logo, pause with a modification, and put more emphasis on the kitchen and other areas that improve the guest experience. ”

Cracker Barrel is currently working on further investments in public relations and marketing, and the company is ready to handle the impact of tariffs, Penmelis said. Two additional stores are also scheduled to open in 2025, but the company did not provide any information on where the location is.

“There’s been a lot of optimism going forward, and our team is focused on returning to the momentum that created last fiscal year,” Mayno said.

Volvo builds new hybrid models in the US amid Trump’s tariff shift

play

Volvo Cars Volcarb.st said Tuesday that production of new hybrid models in the United States will begin by the end of the decade as Swedish automakers continue to adapt to President Donald Trump’s tariff policies.

The new model, which has not yet been released in detail, is designed for the US market and will help Volvo improve capacity utilization at its South Carolina plant.

Automakers around the world are rushing to rethink their production strategy to contest President Trump’s duties on foreign cars, part of his broader policy that boosts US manufacturing.

Volvo Cars CEO said in April that the company will produce more vehicles in the US, and the group announced in July that it plans to start production of its popular XC60 Mid-sized SUV at its South Carolina plant starting in late 2026.

The factory is currently only building Volvo’s fully electric EX90 SUV and the Polestar 3, but production data shows that these models only take up a small portion of the site’s annual capacity.

News about the new hybrid model coincided with Volvo’s 70th anniversary in the US.

Volvo has long been positioned as an EV trail blazer with the aim of eliminating all non-electric models by 2030, and reversing the course last year, saying the Hybrid will remain part of its lineup.

“By adding another model to production here, we are taking a major step towards achieving the full potential of our local manufacturing investment and labor,” said Luis Rezende, president of Volvo Cars’ Americas Operation.

Trade contracts were hit in July when the European Union reduced tariffs on European automobiles to 15%, but the agreement is still in effect and vehicles continue to face a 27.5% tax.
