Dances during developing storms in the Atlantic could soon evolve into one of the most unusual and unusual events in meteorology: the Fuji effect.

As of the morning of September 24th, two tropical systems continued to meander in the Southwest Atlantic. Neither of them are named yet, so they are called “Invest 93L” and “Invest94L” by the National Hurricane Centre. Both said they are likely to become tropical cyclones next week, but their exact path and the possibility of impacting the US remains uncertain for now, according to the Hurricane Center.

When the storm reaches tropical storm conditions, one will likely be named Hambert and the other Imelda.

While many weather models show possible land impacts primarily from 94L (probably Imelda), the track relies on 93L (Humbert), and “the Fujis effect determines the outcome,” says meteorologist Ryan Maue, a weather trader at the Materials Post on September 24th.

“The Fujis effect is rare in the Atlantic, but it can happen from time to time,” WPLG-TV hurricane specialist Michael Lowry said on the Subgels Post on September 24th.

What is the Fujis Effect?

When two storms or hurricanes rotating in the same direction get close enough to each other, they begin a fierce dance around a common center known as the Fuji Effect, the National Weather Service said.

This effect is thought to occur when the storm is about 900 miles away.

The storms involved in the Fujiwhara effect spin around each other as if they were a square dance with their arms locked in. Instead of each storm spinning the other, they are actually moving the central point between them.

A good way to imagine this is to think of two ice skaters skating towards each other right away on a collision course.

According to Weather.com, stronger storms often dominate and drag weaker storms into their cycles, but in rare cases, two storms of similar strength combine to create a single, stronger storm.

Who was Fuji?

This effect is named after Dr. Sato Fujiwara, the chief of the Central Meteorological Bureau in Japan, in Tokyo, shortly after World War I. In 1921 he wrote a paper describing the movement of “vortices” underwater. A vortex of water is a tiny vortex of water that spins.

What are the predictions for the two systems?

“It’s likely that both the 93L and 94L will develop in the coming days,” Houston-based meteorologist Matt Lanza said on September 24th that “the “wall of the eye” was “” in his subsack.

“The first thing I can say with confidence about all of this is that I’m looking at a rather long process here,” Lanza said. “We may be looking at these systems next week. 93L investments may not be a land threat (although it could bully Bermuda), but it could ultimately affect 94L investments, which could be a land threat on the Southeastern or Mid-Atlantic coast.”

But “even if 94L is weak and stays offshore next week, the upper-level pattern with a low cutoff over Tennessee Valley can pour abundant tropical air into Carolina and parts of the Southern and Central Atlantic at the beginning of next week,” Laurie said.

“This suggests that the flood threat in these areas has been strengthened since this weekend, and this will need to be followed over the next few days,” he added.

Things you need to know about the planetary harvest debate

play

  • Chobani faces a boycott after announcing a partnership with Planet Harvest, co-founded by Ivanka Trump.
  • Planet Harvest is a for-profit company that links farmers’ incomplete produce to food companies to reduce waste.
  • Partnership critics cite political opposition to the for-profitability of Trump family and collaboration.
  • This is not the first time Chobani has faced a boycott. This is because they were targeted in 2016 to hire refugees.

The support behind the boycott of Chobani products is built after the New York-based company specializing in yogurt production recently announced a new controversial partnership.

Headquartered in Cenango County, New York, in the state’s South Tier, Chobani, operating a manufacturing facility, announced a collaboration with Planet Harvest, founded in 2023 by Ivanka Trump and Melissa Ackerman.

In April, Chobani announced plans to build a “prosperous food production center” in Rome, New York, creating more than 1,000 jobs.

The announcement responded instantly on social media. One commenter commented, “I’m extremely pleased that this came across my exploration page. I’ll never buy @chobani again,” commented another comment, “Bye Chobani.”

Here’s what you need to know.

Why are people boycotting Chobani?

According to comments on social media, people are pissed at the fact that Planet Harvest is a for-profit company.

One commenter on an Instagram post about Planet Harvest’s Instagram collaboration said, “This is a for-profit company that means making money from you. They’re not giving it back to Americans without a huge price… @Chobani is also a profit company.

In response to questions about why Planet Harvest is a for-profit enterprise during a CNBC interview on September 12th, Ivanka Trump said:

“In the beginning, I know what, why don’t we buy this extra and take it to the food bank? And I really wanted it to be a volume, to make it a functional private sector business… you could actually impact more changes.”

For others, it’s about politics. “I’ve been very disappointed… there’s a million better ways to stop food waste than partnering with families convicted of felony for nonprofit money.”

What is Planetary Harvest?

Planet Harvest helps farmers sell crops that do not meet the aesthetic qualifications that are sold at grocery stores. The Chicago-based company connects the produce to food companies such as Chobani, reducing the amount of waste food in the fields.

“Planet Harvest is a profitable company with the vision to maximize the amount of fresh produce that travels from farm to family,” the company’s website states. “We will connect farmers with food companies, foodservices and retailers to unlock the overall harvest value, optimize supply chains and reduce environmental waste.”

How did the partnership look?

In an interview with CNBC, Ivanka Trump said she and Urkaya were the first to connect in President Donald Trump’s first term through the Farmers Two Family Food Box initiative she launched during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Urkaya then contacted her after her term and said she was trying to share how beneficial the program is for Chobani dairy farmers and explore private sector options to continue the benefits to his company’s farmers.

I co-founded Planetary Harvest with Melissa Ackerman to maximize the amount of fresh food that travels from the farm to the family. We are excited to announce our partnership with Chobani and Hamdi Ulukaya to incorporate the entire sustained supply of harvested produce into delicious products. 🧑‍🌾🥬🍓

Posted by Ivanka Trump on Friday, September 12th, 2025

According to an interview, the planet’s harvest is only a year, with over a million pounds of strawberries being dumped and “rescued” by purchasing the entire harvest from farmers, and businesses are working together to expand to other types of fruit.

“I didn’t know when the planetary harvest brought it,” Urkaya said of food waste. “(It’s) a victory for the farmers, a victory for the land… wins the economy, wins the consumers.”

Has Chobani received any backlash before?

Yes, the company, which broke the ground in April at a new production facility in Rome, New York, faced a boycott in 2016.

The far-right and anti-immigrant groups have targeted Chobani to hire refugees. According to the New York Times, Urkaya is a supporter of the voices of hiring refugees and has pledged to give away most of his wealth to help them.

The FBI says it seized “confidential” documents from John Bolton’s office

0

Bolton’s lawyer told USA Today that the documents containing dated classification markings were from the George W. Bush administration and that thorough reviews show that inappropriate things have not been preserved.

play

Federal law enforcement agencies obtained documents labeled “categorized,” “secret,” and “confidential” during a search for the office of former national security adviser John Bolton in August, according to court filings.

A special representative of the government described alleged documents in written inventory of seized property, filed in federal court, Washington, D.C., and acquired by Politico. It reportedly includes travel memo documents, including pages labeled “Secret,” the US mission to the United Nations, and the US communication strategy labeled “Confidential,” and the documents relating to weapons of mass destruction labeled “classification.”

Bolton’s lawyer Abbe Lowell told USA Today in a statement that many of the references had been “previously approved” in a review before Bolton published his 2020 book, The Room Where Where: A White House Memoir.

“These are common types of records, many of which are over 20 years of age and protected as 40-year career staff members who served in the State Department, attorney general, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and national security advisers,” according to a statement from Lowell.

“Specifically, documents containing outdated classification markings for the period 1998-2006 begin with the Bolton era in the George W. Bush administration. An objective and thorough review indicates that Amb.bolton will preserve or maintain that there is no inappropriate,” Lowell said.

Bolton, who served as the United Nations U.S. ambassador under President George W. Bush, was President Donald Trump’s national security adviser in his first administration, and has since been a fierce critic of Trump.

Bolton told USA Today in 2020 that if he were a senator at Trump’s first blast-each trial, he would likely have convicted Trump. Trump was accused of abusing power by withholding government assistance to investigate then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son. The Senate acquitted Trump on the charges, mainly along the party line.

According to filings, the search for Bolton’s office took place on August 22 under a warrant sanctioned the court. In the warrant application, a special agent from the FBI (names re-edited from the published application) argued that Bolton likely violated US laws protecting national defense information.

Bolton is not the only Trump critics who have been scrutinized in the investigation since the president took office in January.

The Justice Department also reportedly has launched an investigation into New York Attorney General Leticia James. And the US Special Advisors Office is investigating the actions of former federal prosecutor Jack Smith in the incident that came to Trump after Trump was dropped after his victory in the 2024 election.

The investigation has prompted concerns that Trump is using his second season to pursue a revenge campaign against his perceived enemies.

In a post about True Society on September 20th, Trump publicly told Attorney General Pam Bondy, “We must serve justice, now!!!” And several people linked to past investigations — New York Attorney General Letia James, former FBI director James Comey and California Democrat Sen. Adam Schiff, suggesting that they should be indicted.

In another true social post on September 20th, Trump allegedly fired Eric Sheebert, who until recently was a US lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia. Trump said that she did because Sheebert was allegedly endorsed a Democratic senator from Virginia.

Several news outlets, including the Washington Post and the New York Times, reported that Sheebert had resigned amid pressure from the Trump administration over his decision not to pursue charges against James, and concluded that there was no sufficient evidence to support mortgage fraud charges. The news report cited several unnamed sources who were familiar with the issue.

Kimmel’s monologue gets emotional, and the comedian sheds tears about Erica Kirk

Jimmy Kimmel felt emotional when he returned late into the night.

After the show’s suspension in his monologue in the first episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, Kimmel choked as he discussed Erica Kirk, the widow of late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

ABC pulled out Kimmel’s showdown on September 17th when the “Magagang” said “the suspected killer of Charlie Kirk as “something other than one of them” and the “Magagang” was “deeply trying to characterise” and the “Magagang” said they were “deeply trying to characterise”.

However, on Tuesday, Kimmel was in tears when he mentioned Kirk’s widow.

“There were moments on the weekend. There were very beautiful moments. On Sunday, Erica Kirk forgives the man who shot her husband. She forgives him. That’s an example we should follow,” Kimmel grows emotionally.

“If you believe in Jesus’ teachings, as I would, then it was,” he continued. “That’s it. A selfless act of grace, forgiveness from the grieving widow. It touched me deeply, and I hope it touches me a lot.

Erica Kirk gave an emotional tribute at a September 21 service ceremony for her late husband, the late husband, co-founder of conservative organisation Turning Point USA, after being shot and killed at an event at Utah Valley University. She said she forgives Tyler Robinson, who was accused of killing her husband because it is what Christ did and what Charlie does. “The answer to hatred is not hatred.

Before Kimmel’s suspension, Federal Communications Commission president Brendan Kerr appeared to have denounced the comedian for his remarks about Kirk’s murder and threatened the ABC to take action. Disney “stops Kimmel’s show to avoid further inflaming the tense situation in our country’s emotional moments, as some of his comments were “bad timing and therefore insensitive.”

In a monologue on September 23rd, Kimmel got emotional as he said “it’s important to me as a human being” to reveal that he “is not going to lighten the murder of a young man.”

“I don’t think there’s anything interesting about that,” he said. “I posted a message on Instagram on the day he was killed on the day he sent love and compassion to his family.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1tjh_zo_ty

Kimmel also said he would not condemn “specific groups” for the behavior of “deeply disturbed individuals.” He said it was “really the opposite of the point I was trying to make,” but he understands it as “I felt to some people that it wasn’t timing or unknown, or both.”

“I understand why you’re upset by the person I think I pointed my finger,” he said. “If things were to be reversed, it’s entirely possible I felt the same way. …I don’t think anyone would represent the murderer who shot Charlie Kirk, this was a sick person who believed violence was the solution.

On the day Kirk was shot dead, Kimmel denounced the murder on Instagram, saying, “Instead of an angry finger point, can we just agree that shooting another person is a scary and monster?

Kimmel’s suspension sparked widespread condemnation in the entertainment industry, with many blaming the move as an example of government censorship speeches. Kimmel is known as a critic of President Donald Trump’s voice and has regularly criticized the president on both his show and other venues, including the Academy Awards.

In his return monologue, Kimmel argued that Kerr’s pressure on ABC to take action against him was a violation of the First Amendment, saying “the government’s threat to silence comedians the president hates is anti-American.”

Kerr denied that government pressure was the reason ABC suspended Kimmel’s show. “Jimmy Kimmel is in a situation where he is there because of his assessment, not what happened at the federal level,” the FCC chairman said on September 22.

NHTSA opens safety probes in Libian van after seat belt complaints

play

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Wednesday it began preliminary assessments of 17,198 Rivian Rivn.o electric distribution vans over seat belt concerns.

The probe focuses on the driver’s front outboard seatbelt anchorage system. The system uses steel blade cables to secure the belt to the seat frame.

According to the NHTSA Defect Investigation Office (ODI), six complaints from the vehicle owner describe a worn, broken or unlocked cable, with the driver at risk of not being able to withstand a crash or sudden stop.

Libian said he is trying to work with the NHTSA in the investigation.

Regulators said no reported crashes, fires, injuries or deaths related to potential defects. The NHTSA warned that weakened or isolated seat belt fixation could not meet the required load capacity standards and could create what was called “an unreasonable risk to vehicle safety.”

Investigators will investigate whether seat belt assembly integrity, installation method, and design or manufacturing defects contributed to the problem.

A preliminary evaluation is the first step in the NHTSA defect process. It leads to engineering analysis and, if guaranteed, could lead to a recall.

What did Trump say about Jimmy Kimmel’s return? He “unbelievable”

  • “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Following the host’s comments on the murder of Charlie Kirk, he returned to ABC after a short break.
  • In his return monologue, Kimmel said that she was never his intention to shed light on the murder, but defending freedom of speech.
  • President Donald Trump criticized the ABC for regaining Kimmel and proposed that he might pursue legal action.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Following the host’s comments on the Republican reaction to Charlie Kirk’s murder, he returned to the air on September 23rd less than a week after being pulled out of Disney-owned ABC.

President Donald Trump praised the show’s break and also asked to fire other late-night shows hosts.

Jimmy Kimmel was emotional in his monologue Tuesday night, saying “I never intended to reveal the murder of a young man.”

He also criticised the Trump administration, promoted the importance of free speech and said it was “anti-Americans” who silence comedians.

“This show is not important,” Kimmel said in his monologue. “The key is that we can live in a country where we can do shows like this.”

How did Trump react to Kimmel’s return?

What did Trump post about Jimmy Kimmel?

Trump criticized Kimmel’s return in a social media post that came out before the show aired.

“I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job. The White House was told by ABC that his show had been cancelled! His audience was gone and his ‘talent’ wasn’t there, so something happened in the meantime,” Trump’s post said. “Why do they want someone who is so poor and risking their networks by playing 99% positive Democrat trash?”

Kimmel’s ratings are the second highest among late-night hosts after Colbert, but late-night television ratings have declined overall overall.

Trump also hinted at pursuing legal action, as he did with several other media companies.

“(Kimmel) is another DNC arm, and as far as I know, it will be a major illegal campaign contribution,” Trump said. “I think we’re going to test ABC on this. Let’s see how we do it. The last time I followed them they gave me $16 million, which sounds even more advantageous.

In March 2024, Trump sued ABC News, where host George Stephanopoulos hosted the host on questions about E. Jean Carroll, whom Trump had determined was liable for sexual abuse and defamation. According to Reuters, ABC News settled the lawsuit for $15 million in December. Another lawsuit against CBS News in October 2024 led to a $16 million settlement.

ABC News did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the concept of litigation.

What did Jimmy Kimmel say when he returned?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1tjh_zo_ty

Kimmel said in a monologue on September 23 that he disagreed with the ABC’s decision to pull him out into the air.

“I told them that, we had a lot of conversations. I shared my perspective, shared their stuff. We spoke through it. And they really didn’t have to do that – they really didn’t have to, this is a huge company, we’re a small part of Disney Corporation – they brought me back to the air.

Kimmel also admitted that he put the ABC in danger by bringing him back into the sky. Because “The President of the United States has made it very clear that me and the hundreds of people working here want to be fired from our work.

Following Kimmel’s suspension last week, Trump has called for the Jimmy Fallon and Seth Myers show to be cancelled.

Kimmel continued his monologue, “We have to resist this bully. He hasn’t stopped. It’s not just comedy. He’s targeting our journalists too. He’s suing them.

Nexstar and Sinclair continue to take the lead on Jimmy Kinmee

In a monologue on September 15th, Kimmel said, “We hit some new lows over the weekend, desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as something other than them and doing everything he could to score political points from there.”

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Kerr expressed his anger over the comments, apparently threatening ABC, Disney and Kimmel with the arrival of YouTube on September 17th, saying, “This can be done in an easy or difficult way.”

After ABC chose to regain the show, Sinclair Broadcast Group said it would take the Kimmel show first at ABC’s affiliate station and replace it with news programming. Nexstar Media Group Inc. has announced that the show will not be airing either.

“We support that pending decision that all parties are committed to fostering a respectful and constructive dialogue environment in the markets we serve,” Nexstar said in a press release.

NASA scientists propose Nyukh asteroid with the possibility of hitting the moon

0

One idea proposed to deal with asteroids that are likely to hit the moon in 2032? Just make that the core.

In a plan that ripped straight from the script for the 1998 film Armageddon, the scientists proposed a simple, if any, intense way to deal with nasty asteroids.

Just make that the core.

However, in this case, it is not Earth that is the celestial body under threat. And this plan definitely doesn’t have to send Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck on a tragic journey into space rock itself.

Instead, a team of researchers, including NASA scientists, have announced their bold idea of firing a nuclear bomb in 2032 on an asteroid with a slight chance of hitting the moon.

The asteroid in question may be familiar to you. Called the 2024 YR4, Spacelock, large enough to level the city, grabbed the headlines in early 2025 when it historically increased the likelihood of hitting the Earth.

This is something you need to know about the 2024 YR4 review and new nuclear options.

What is Asteroid 2024 yr4? Does it pose a threat to the planet?

Asteroid 2024 YR4 became an alarm source, as it was rarely high risk of colliding with Earth on December 22, 2024, as it was large enough to be considered a “city murderer.”

Spacelock was reported on December 27, 2024 to the Minor Planet Center, the official authority to observe and report new asteroids, comets and other small bodies in the solar system. The object ultimately attracted the attention of NASA and other astronomers. This has risen on the US Space Agency’s Sentry Impact Risk Table.

For a while, it was the only object among over 37,000 known large space rocks, and could soon collide with Earth.

It began to change in late February as more accurate observations allowed scientists to effectively lower the chances of an asteroid’s impact to a very low number.

Asteroid 2024 How big is yr4?

Based on observations from James Webb Space Telescope, scientists know that an asteroid’s approximate length can reach nearly 300 feet or the size of a 10-storey building.

Safe from YR4 asteroids, but the lunar impact odds continue to rise

Earth may no longer be at risk of a terrible collision with an asteroid, but the moon is not so lucky.

Webb’s initial observations in March could have hit a month, increasing from a 1.7% figure calculated in February to 3.8%, according to NASA’s Near Earth Object Research Center, which tracks asteroid-like objects at NASA’s California Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

These odds rose again to 4.3% after Webb’s latest observations were made in May. According to NASA, the data helped scientists to better understand where the asteroid is on December 22, 2032.

What happens if an asteroid hits the moon?

If our universe’s neighbors were hit by such a blow from an asteroid of that size, NASA ensured that the orbit of the moon around Earth would not change.

But in a new paper that has not yet been peer-reviewed, a team of researchers, including NASA scientists, claims that the effects of the moon of that size could kick fragments that threaten Earth’s satellites and even astronauts on the International Space Station.

Scientists propose to blow up asteroids with nuclear weapons

So researchers have made many plans for scientists to prevent conflicts. The most extreme is firing a large number of nuclei at an asteroid.

Scientists may know the approximate size of an asteroid, but there is no exact approximation of the asteroid’s weight. Considering that, researchers argue that world space agencies cannot pull off reconnaissance missions to collect data and then build spacecraft with the specifications necessary to successfully crash and knock an asteroid from its current orbit.

Such a plan poses additional risks, researchers argue, that it involves inadvertently pushing the asteroid into a collision course with Earth.

However, firing a nuclear arsenal on an asteroid requires no subtlety or nuance.

Therefore, the researchers argued that using “nuclear explosion devices” to detonate space rocks is a sufficient way to deal with the smallest threats.

The team concluded that the mission should begin between 2029 and late 2031 and late 2031.

This paper was uploaded to Arxiv, the preprint research repository, on September 15th.

NASA is already tweaking asteroids in DART tests

If an asteroid needs to be repurposed from its collision course with Earth, future planetary defense missions may well be similar to the test that retreated three years ago.

In September 2022, the US Space Agency showed that it is possible to drive incoming asteroids off the harmless path by slamming a spacecraft into one as part of a double asthma redirect test (DART).

Released in November 2021, DART traveled for over 10 months before crashing into Dimorphos at around 14,000 mph. While the small asteroid poses no threat to Earth, NASA was trying to test how it could redirect orbital paths that threaten objects towards Earth.

As of October 2024, let’s take a good look at the remnants of the asteroids of the European Space Agency crafts.

Hera was released on October 7th on a two-year journey to Dimorphos from Cape Canaveral Space Force in Florida.

According to the agency, the spacecraft is expected to enter orbit of the DidyMos binary system in October 2026. Authorities hope that by analyzing the results of NASA’s experiments, the space agency will be in a better position to repeat its piloting.

Senators respond to app fraud Tinder Parent Company

0

Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-New Hampshire, Marsha Blackburn, said he was concerned that the dating app’s algorithms are vulnerable to fraud.

play

The bipartisan pair of senators is pushing the parent company of popular dating app Tinder about an algorithm they fear that users will remain vulnerable to “romance scams.”

In the letter, Maggie Hassan, D-New Hampshire and R-Tennessee’s Marsha Blackburn gave Match Group, which also owns a dating app hinge and Okcupid.

“Over the years, many events have raised questions about whether Match Group (in its business practices and algorithm design) contributed to the spread of romance fraud online,” the senator wrote to Match Group CEO Spencer Laskoff.

Lawmakers specifically pointed to a series of Federal Trade Commission complaints that the company allegedly exposed users to fraud on multiple occasions. Match Group says in legal documents it has “permanently halted” the practices that make these cases possible.

“The Match Group platform has become a breeding ground for bad actors who prey on vulnerable Americans, especially older people who have lost their lives savings due to fraud,” Blackburn said in a statement.

Yoel Roth, head of trust and safety at Match Group, said the company is looking forward to a “constructive conversation” with Hassan and Blackburn on fraud prevention issues.

“Protecting users from fraud is essential for our business and to gain people’s trust on our platform,” Ross said in a statement to USA Today. “In recent years, we have invested heavily in improving our sophisticated fraud detection, cutting-edge safety features and partnerships with law enforcement, industry and civil society groups to further protect our communities.

$1.3 billion lost to ‘romance scam’

Romance scams usually involve people who have fake intimate relationships with other users before seeking money. With each federal guidance, warning signs can include people who immediately profess their love, claim to live far away, move conversations to other apps, and demand bad grammar.

Elderly Americans are particularly vulnerable to practice. According to the FTC, romance scams hit a record high in 2022, with 70,000 people reporting a collective loss of $1.3 billion. The average victim lost about $4,400.

“Romance fraud takes millions of dollars of Americans each year, and it’s a catastrophic emotional cost in the process,” Hassan said in a statement.

Openai and nvidia plan AI Future’s $100 million chip deal

0

Openai and Nvidia have signed an intent for a $100 million partnership that can restructure how AI systems are trained and deployed. The plan will support Openai’s next-generation AI infrastructure, seeking at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia hardware. This is to train and implement future models targeting urgency.

To support the rollout, Nvidia plans to invest up to $100 billion in Openai as the system is deployed. The first phase is expected to be released in the second half of 2026 with Nvidia’s upcoming Vera Rubin platform.

Transactions with a wide range of meanings

The deal shows how closely the biggest AI players are. Nvidia, the leading supplier of AI chips, will acquire the financial interests of one of its biggest customers, Openai. In the case of Openai, this transaction brings both Nvidia’s sought-after processor financing and guaranteed access.

This move can make your rivals feel uneasy. Some may strengthen Nvidia’s advantage in chips, enhance Openai’s lead in AI software, and raise questions about fair competition.

Those familiar with the issue said the partnership includes two linked steps. Nvidia buys non-voting stocks at Openai, and Openai uses the money to buy Nvidia chips.

Why Openai Compute drives AI growth

“It all starts with calculations,” Openai CEO Sam Altman said in a statement. “Computing infrastructure will be the foundation of the economy of the future and leverage what we are building at NVIDIA to create new AI breakthroughs and enhance people and businesses on a large scale.”

The company said details of the partnership will be resolved in the coming weeks. They also said that a 10 gigawatt chip would consume as much electricity as US households of over 8 million.

Nvidia’s shares rose 4.4% to record highs after news. Oracle, which works with Openai, Softbank and Microsoft on a $500 billion global AI data center project called Stargate, rose by around 6%.

How the transaction is structured

According to those familiar with the consultation, once a final agreement is reached, Openai officially purchases the NVIDIA system. Nvidia will invest its first $10 billion in Openai. This was last valued at $500 billion.

The first distribution of Nvidia hardware is expected in the second half of 2026, with 1 gigawatt of computing power coming online on the Vera Rubin platform later that year.

Analysts welcomed the deal but raised concerns about whether some of Nvidia’s investments could be returned to it through Openai’s chip purchases.

“On the one hand, this will help Openai realize what is a very enthusiastic goal of infrastructure calculations and ensure that such things are built. On the other hand, ‘circulating’ concerns have been raised in the past.

Openai’s other AI chip ambitions

Openai, like Google and Amazon, are researching their own custom chips to reduce costs and reduce their reliance on Nvidia. A person close to the company said the deal would not change existing calculation plans, including collaboration with Microsoft.

Early this year, Reuters Openai reported that it was working with Broadcom and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. to design the chip. Following news of the NVIDIA partnership, Broadcom shares fell 0.8%.

Openai has grown to over 700 million active users per week, recruited by businesses of all sizes and developers around the world. The NVIDIA partnership is expected to help the company drive its goal of building artificial general information.

Industry background

The Openai-nvidia agreement will be added to the list of alliances among the tech giants. Microsoft has invested billions in Openai since 2019. Nvidia recently announced a chip collaboration with Intel, pledging $5 billion in funding. Nvidia also participated in Openai’s $6.6 billion round in October 2024.

The scale of the New Deal can attract antitrust attention. Last year, the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission reached an agreement to allow a more detailed scrutiny of the roles of Microsoft, Openai and Nvidia in the AI sector. So far, the Trump administration has taken a lighter approach than the Biden administration on competition issues.

Openai and Microsoft also said earlier this month they signed a non-binding agreement to restructure Openai into a for-profit enterprise, informing them of further governance changes.

Andre Barlow, an anti-trust lawyer for Doyle, Barlow & Mazard, said the Nvidia deal could strengthen the position of both companies in ways that restrict rivals.

“This deal could change the economic incentives of Nvidia and Openai because it could potentially lock Nvidia’s chip Monopoly using Openai software leads. It could make it more difficult for Nvidia competitors, such as Chips’ AMD and Openai’s competitors to expand on the model,” says Barlow.

He added that the Trump administration has previously taken a pro-business approach to regulation, removing barriers that could slow AI growth.

The 9,458-square-foot Jupiter Island home in Florida, once belonging to billionaire Bill Gates, is on the market.

The 100 Harborway home was listed in April by Susan Hemmes of Sotheby’s International Realty and is on the market for $23.5 million.

According to Satheby’s international realtiling, the home has direct access to coaster-to-coasters, seven bathrooms, two half bathrooms, four bedrooms and a boat lift.

Gates owned the home from 2009 to 2018, and bought it for $5 million, according to Martin County property appraisal records. According to the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute, he purchased it under Front Range Investment Holdings, a Colorado LLC registered in Kirkland, Washington, where the investment company is located.

According to Martin County Property Appraiser Records, the home was sold for $4 million in 2018.

This was not the only home tied to the Microsoft billionaire on the Treasure Coast in southeastern Florida. In 2009, Gates purchased a European-style villa with a 10,000 square feet of Hove Sound for $5 million, Architectural Digest reported. He sold the house in 2013 for $5 million.

How rich is Bill Gates?

According to Forbes, the technology mogul who co-founded Microsoft, Gates is one of the richest people in the world. He was ranked 14th on the Forbes 400 list of the country’s wealthiest people this year, and has fallen to several spots after dominating the number one or second spots on the list since 1991.

Despite his rankings decline, he still has an exorbitant amount of wealth. However, he planned a fall as one of the richest people on the planet.

Gates plans to hand out “virtually everything” through the Gates Foundation by 2045, he wrote on his website in a May 2025 blog post. Since the foundation was founded in 2000, it has given $100 billion over 25 years.

“I will distribute virtually all of my wealth through the Gates Foundation for the next 20 years to save and improve lives around the world,” Gates wrote in Gates’ notes. “And on December 31, 2045, the foundation will permanently close that door.”

The United Nations responds to escalators that stopped for Trump and the First Lady

play

President Donald Trump’s nearly hour-long speech to the United Nations on September 23 featured the scope of the international organization. The visit included two technical Snafus. One includes a teleprompter and the other includes an escalator.

The latter event took its own life that morning after a video of the president and first lady Melania Trump stepped into an escalator at the UN headquarters in New York City, prompting a UN investigation. The escalator stopped shortly after the pair got on. The First Lady waited a few seconds before walking the rest of the road to the top before the president and the administrator.

“If the first lady hadn’t been in much shape, she would have collapsed,” Trump said during his speech. I got a laugh from the audience. “But she’s in great condition. We’re both in good condition.”

While the president’s comments at the UN were essentially joking, White House press chief Caroline Leavitt proposed in his Fox news appearance and X hours later post that the suspension could be intentional or “sabotage.” She said the Secret Service is investigating the incident.

“If we find out that these are UN staff who are intentionally trying to travel, we’re literally trying to travel — the president and the first lady of America, well, those people are accountable and I’ll see it personally,” Levitt said in an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters.

Clips of escalator halts and conspiracy theories stemming from the incident have begun to spread online.

The United Nations launched an investigation and concluded in a statement on September 23 that she was a videographer for a US delegation who may have misled the safety function of the escalator in an attempt to record the arrival of the President and First Lady.

“Subsequent investigations, including reading the machine’s central processing unit, showed that the escalator stopped after a safety mechanism built into the comb step was triggered at the top of the escalator,” spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Stephen Dujaric, said in a statement. “The safety mechanism is designed to prevent people and things from being accidentally caught and stuck or being pulled into gear.”

The gusts around the escalator incident attracted the attention of the press of California’s Democratic government, Gavin Newsom.

“Dozy Don was defeated by an escalator, a poor man,” the governor’s press conference was posted on September 23rd, signing with the governor’s initials. “The whole world is laughing at the low-IQ president. Next stop: Enjoy the retirement resort in Memory Meadow.

Shortly after the escalator event, when President Trump stepped onto the podium to address world leaders, the teleprompters stopped working similarly.

“These are two things I got from the United Nations,” Trump said. “Bad escalators and bad teleprompters. Thank you very much.”

UN officials told Reuters that the White House operated its own teleprompter, and after Trump finished speaking, General Speaker Annalena Bearbock told Reuters that “UN teleprompters are fully functional.”

Trump dismisses Jimmy Kimmel’s return as “trash”, threatens investigation

0

Jimmy Kimmel was choked by feelings coming back from the suspension to the late-night show, but critics said he was crying “crocodile tears” and did not apologise for his comments about Charlie Kirk.

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has called Jimmy Kimmel’s recent return to television back on social media to “trash.”

Another TV host Piers Morgan said Kimmel was crying “crocodile tears” after ABC stopped him for comments about the assassination of conversion activist Charlie Kirk. Podcaster Megin Kelly, who lost the NBC show after comments about the “Blackface” Halloween costume, rejected Kimmel’s “self-sympathy.” And during Trump’s first term, White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Kimmel had not apologized for his comments on Kirk.

A negative response to Kimmel’s return suggests that the fallout from the 57-year-old late-night host’s remarks is over.

Disney, the parent company of the ABC Network, which airs the show, stopped production of Kimmel on September 17, two days after Trump supporters said they eager to make Kirk’s assassin a character “as something other than them” and denounced him “to score political points” from the murder.

On September 23rd, Kimmel returned to the air. “It was never my intention to underestimate the murder of a young man,” the comedian said, his voice choking with emotion. “I don’t think there’s anything interesting.”

Two companies representing the group of ABC affiliate stations at Sinclair and NextStar have kept Kimmel away from the air. NextStar issued a statement on September 23rd, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Although available on Disney streaming products, “our station will focus on continuing to create local news and other programming.”

Jimmy Kimmel defends freedom of speech for an emotional return

Jimmy Kimmel submitted a powerful monologue, defending freedom of speech and clarifying his controversial joke after Charlie Kirk’s death.

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Kerr threatened an investigation on the day Kimmel’s suspension, urging television stations to either drop Kimmel’s show or face potential fines and revoking their broadcast license.

“We can do this in an easy or difficult way,” Kerr said.

After Democrat California Sen. Scott Wiener posted that he couldn’t wait for Sinclair to break up, Kerr said in a social media post on September 23 that it was proof that Democrats wanted to silence their objections.

“These companies decided that in their view the suspension made sense,” Kerr said. “This is especially the first time that local TV stations have pushed back national programmers like Disney recently, which is good because they want to empower local TV stations.”

Former Democrat Senator, Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told MSNBC on September 24 that he saw Trump’s move to silence his critics as “dangerous.”

“It’s just a short time from an authoritarian playbook,” Clinton said.

However, Fox News host Greg Gutfeld said Kimmel is tired of acting “as if he was fired was the same as being fired.” He called media censorship “mutually preserved destruction” after Facebook and Twitter removed conservative voices like Trump during the Biden administration.

“You hunted Republicans, you hunted conservatives,” Gutfeld said. “Maybe if we hunt you, you won’t hunt us anymore.”

Trump proposed a new strategy. He said that ABC paid $15 million to the Presidential Foundation and settled a lawsuit over what George Stephanopulos did about civil lawsuit columnist E. Jean Carroll had brought against Trump.

Trump complains that 97% of late-night shows jokes are against him. He suggested on September 23 that it could be “a further advantage” to investigate television networks to essentially provide illegal campaign contributions to the Democratic National Committee through broadcasts.

“Why do they want people who are so poor, not funny, and putting their network at risk by playing 99% positive Democrat trash,” Trump told social media. “He’s another DNC arm and, as far as I know, it will be a major illegal campaign contribution. I think he’s going to test ABC for this.”

What Jimmy Kimmel said about Donald Trump in return

0

play

Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back from coming back late at night.

The comedian slammed President Donald Trump in a monologue on September 23, making it back into the air for the first time since being suspended over comments he made after the murder of Charlie Kirk. His suspension comes after the Federal Communications Commission chair pressured the ABC to take action.

In a monologue on his return home, Kimmel played a clip of Trump, claiming he was “dismissed” because he “has not been rated.”

“Well, I’ll do it tonight,” he shot back, plucking cheers from the audience.

“You almost need to feel sorry for him. He tried his best to cancel me. Instead, he forced millions of people to watch the show.

Kimmel thanked Disney, who owns ABC, for reclaiming the show, and blamed Trump for pushing him to be fired.

“I would like to thank them because (Disney) you welcomed me,” Kimmel said. “Unfortunately, this puts them at risk. The US President has made it very clear that me and the hundreds of people who work here want to be fired from our work.

Kimmel claimed he was Trump’s next target after the president was able to “squeeze” Stephen Colbert on CBS, which canceled Colbert’s “Late Show” in July.

“Then he turned his eyesight on me, and now he’s openly cheering for NBC to fire Jimmy Fallon and Seth Myers and hundreds of Americans who work for their show that aren’t making millions of dollars,” Kimmel said. “And I hope that if it happened, or even a hint as to what it’s going on, you’ll be 10 times louder than this week.”

In a true social post after Kimmel’s suspension, Trump urged NBC to fire Jimmy Fallon and Seth Myers. “It left two total losers Jimmy and Seth on fake news NBC,” he wrote. “Their reviews are also scary. NBC!!!”

“He’s not stopped, so we have to disagree with this. It’s not just a comedy,” Kimmel said. “He’s targeting our journalists too. He’s suing them, he’s bullying them.”

ABC says “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” For almost a week after the Magger Gang said “deeply trying to characterise Tyler Robinson” the suspect who killed Charlie Kirk “is something other than one of them and is doing everything he can to score political points from there.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1tjh_zo_ty

While appearing on the YouTube show, FCC president Brendan Kerr appears to have threatened ABC to “take action against Kimmel,” and Disney has stopped production of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Indefinitely. The show returned on September 23rd, but both Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group refused to broadcast it on ABC affiliates, broadcasting Kimmel to parts of the country.

During his return monologue, Kimmel choked as he said “it was never my intention” of Kirk’s murder, or “condemning a particular group of people for the actions of individuals who were clearly deeply disturbed,” but “I understand that I felt worse or unclear, or both.”

However, Kimmel said it was “important” that “we can live in a country where we can do shows like this,” and he argued Kerr’s comment that putting pressure on the ABC was a “direct violation of the First Amendment.”

“The government’s threat to silence comedians that the president hates is anti-American,” he said.

Kimmel also played an old clip of Trump, highlighting the importance of freedom of speech. He then played the FCC president and acted like a mob boss, Robert De Niro, who joined the show.

“It appears that the FCC is using mob tactics to curb free speech,” Kimmel said, beginning to anger at De Niro. The De Niro character declared that he was no longer “free” unless his speech was a pro-trump.

In a true social post just before Kimmel returned to Japan, Trump threatened to sue ABC, saying he “unbelievable” that the comedian was getting his job back. “I think we’re going to test ABC on this,” Trump wrote. “Let’s see how we do it.”

The power of national reproductive freedom correction

0

After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled out federal constitutional rights to abortion, voters in 10 states ratified the state amendment that more broadly codified abortion and reproductive rights. All of these initiatives reflect public demands to restore constitutional protections, but not all take the same approach to doing so.

There are considerable differences in the texts of these amendments, and these differences affect the way the court interprets the scope of the new assurance and evaluates the laws challenged under them. With dozens of abortion restrictions still in these 10 state books, abortion rights advocates first turned to courts to regain and expand access to abortion. However, most modifications offer much broader guarantees.

A new UCLA Law Center report on Reproductive Health, Law, and Policy analyzes this developing landscape and what it means to realize the promise of reforming state reproductive freedom.

In ten states, Arizona, California, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New York, Ohio and Vermont, voters ratified state constitutional amendments to establish new or stronger protections for reproductive rights. These breakwaters are not only directed against criminal abortion bans, but they could also unlock decades of limitations that limit and undermine the accessibility, affordability and dignity of abortion care. As we found in our study, more than 50 laws restricting abortion (including those currently challenged or prohibited) were in books in these 10 states at the time the amendment was ratified. These range from abortion bans to targeted regulations and funding for abortion providers, including recognizing forced counseling and delay requirements, privilege and institutional requirements.

Several state courts have already realised that many of these laws have long been valid or bound by the constitution under previous federal precedents – they can no longer stand under the constitutional guarantees of new states. The initial decision is promising, but it will require continued implementation efforts and further interpretation by the courts to fully protect the legal rights guaranteed by the new amendments. Beyond that, supporters of these amendments, and voters who ratify them, must dodge new anti-abortion strategies that seek to directly undo the amendments themselves.

To date, four state lawsuits have resulted in state court decisions that have applied new amendments to block the ban and limit abortion restrictions. The decisions in Arizona and Ohio permanently banned those states, and Michigan courts have detained three unconstitutional abortion regulations that have made access to state abortion care difficult. As an Ohio court explained, its 2023 reproductive freedom amendment is “a lot more advanced” than simply restoring the legal standards set out. Roev. WadeIt was overturned in 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Agency. This amendment provides a provision that indirectly burdens, punishes, prohibits, obstructs, or discriminates against the right to presumably invalidate the right to abort pre-pregnancy.

Some states that recently passed amendments to protect abortion access have intensified the fight for reproductive rights. In Missouri, for example, state courts initially found that many of the state’s pregnancy bans and abortion restrictions likely were unconstitutional based on reproductive freedom amendments, but the new legislative initiative is trying to revoke the amendments. Six months after voters approved the amendment, anti-abortion lawmakers passed a referendum that abolished and banned almost all abortions in the state if approved by voters. The American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit challenges the new referendum as misleading and inaccurate, and the pending decision in that case will allow you to determine whether you are on the ballot in November 2026.

It is naive to ignore the prospects of future hostile state court decisions, or more voting initiatives that undermine the intentions and impacts of new constitutional reforms, particularly for abortion access. Still, there is power in how amendments to state reproductive freedom can shape public and judicial understandings of long-term constitutional rights.

Virtually all reproductive freedom modifications expressly link positive rights that arise in broader and fundamental constitutional guarantees, such as equality, freedom, and autonomy. Seven amendments use languages of equality, equal protection, or non-discrimination to protect reproductive decisions and outcomes (California, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio) and identify six constitutional guarantees as one of “freedom” (California, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Missouri) or “self-york). Additionally, both Maryland and Vermont describe their rights as a matter of “freedom” and Vermont and Missouri expressly guarantee “dignity” and “respect.” And it almost protects the broader reproductive decisions and health rights beyond abortion. Almost everything generally in a specific language ensures decisions and health care that are important for mothers’ health rights, birth justice, family formation, and more. Seven of the 10 designate judicial reviews with extremely demanding standards.

Such framing and language, like decades-long landmark state Supreme Court decisions, assert that multiple constitutional guarantees protect the broader rights to abortion and reproductive autonomy. And while our research focused on the most pressing effects of abortion laws, there are plenty of other state interventions that violate the health, autonomy and dignity of pregnant people who are violating the state’s reproductive freedom modifications. At least one pending lawsuit makes that claim. Vermont and Pregnancy Justice ACLU claims that when they received confidential health information about their client’s pregnancy, they obtained a department for children and families in Vermont. ex part In order to obtain custody of her fetal child, she sought an injunction to force unwilling Caesarean surgery, and then she obtained custody of her newborn baby for seven months. They argue that the client and the state’s broader “patterns and practices of Vermonter surveillance during pregnancy significantly interfere with and violate reproductive freedom,” and that Vermont’s reproductive freedom amendments “prohibit further penalties or criminalization from (clients) protected health decisions and birth plans.”

Thus, state courts can lead the way in which they can build a more robust constitutional jurisprudence regarding reproductive rights, if they are faithful to the specific rights embodied in these amendments and the broader constitutional guarantees. Similarly, when we focus on our reports, it is up to voters, advocates, policymakers and legal scholars to ensure these, and future revisions will be developed and implemented in ways that bring us closer to reproductive justice.

DeSantis provides Miami University land to Trump’s Presidential Library

Miami-Dade College has completed a renovation of the property, currently dedicated to the building’s 100-year history museum.

  • Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis proposed to provide 2.63 acres of Miami-Dade University land to the Presidential Library.
  • The proposed site is currently an employee parking lot adjacent to Miami’s Historic Freedom Tower.
  • The governor’s office said the library will create opportunities for Florida’s economic development and will become the first presidential library.

(This story has been updated to add new information.)

Gov. Ron DeSantis proposes to provide 2.63 acres of Miami-Dade University land to the Presidential Library and Museum.

A statement from the governor’s office, issued Sept. 23, said the land, which is currently a parking lot for employees, “provides additional economic development opportunities in South Florida,” and that the state’s first presidential library is the House.

The site is adjacent to the Landmark Freedom Tower in downtown Miami. Miami-Dade College has completed a renovation of the property dedicated to the museum, which presents the building’s 100-year history.

In the 1960s and 1970s, in addition to being the original home of the now-deprecated Miami News News newspaper, the Office Complex served as a resettlement facility for Cuban refugees.

For this reason, it is called “Eris Island” in Miami.

The statement added that the governor will provide the Presidential Library proposal at a meeting of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund’s Council on September 30.

“President Trump achieved the results of the American people and had a lasting impact on the history of our country,” DeSantis’ prepared statement said. “No state has delivered a presidential agenda better than the free state of Florida. We are honored to house his presidential library in his hometown.”

Here are five things you need to know:

Why not set up Palm Beach County, the Trump Presidential Library?

That also makes a lot of sense. Trump’s home is located in Marlago, Palm Beach, where he has been his legal residence since 2019.

During his first term there was an effort to find the land of Brinie Breeze for the Presidential Library and Museum. Trump was a popular politician across Florida, but he is most closely identified with Palm Beach County.

The county has a series of universities that can accommodate such facilities, including Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach State College, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Lynn University.

Placement of the library at a Miami location and a museum in Palm Beach County could potentially split the project. That’s why President Gerald Ford decided to maintain and present his legacy.

The library, featuring the 38th President’s documents and papers, is located in the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a museum dedicated to his life, political career and presidency.

Is Miami a suitable place?

Politically speaking, it would be a match. Trump carried Miami-Dade County between 55% and 43% in the 2024 election. He was particularly popular with Cuban-American voters, but also because of his wide Latino population.

The downtown location can also provide stable pedestrians to the Trump Presidential Library. The site is located near the Kaseya Center where the NBA’s Miami Heat team plays. The Science Centre, Museums and Performing Arts Centre are also within walking distance.

The location is close to the terminal of a cruise ship in Miami, and the cruise company can offer an excursion to the library with an event roster for guests on the day of departure.

What is Freedom Tower?

The gorgeous building opened a century ago as home to Miami News. This is the Cox Media Newspaper, part of the media group that once owned the Palm Beach Post. It was also a site for a popular AM radio station.

In the 1960s and 1970s, it was on the southern island of Ellis that worked as the main processing centre for Cuban refugees and exiles upon entry into the United States. As such, the building retains strong emotional and historical ties with many South Florida residents.

As a result, other iconic downtown buildings have been demolished for new construction, but Freedom Tower has undergone various renovations to keep it upright and purposeful. The family of Jorge Mas Canosa, the leader of Cuban exile, was owned until Miami-Dade College bought it.

Traditionally, with a strong minority enrollment population, MDC underwent a completed renovation this summer and transformed the tower into a museum.

What are the other presidential sites in Florida?

DeSantis is right that there is no presidential library in Florida, but it is right that there is a presidential museum.

In Key West, there is the Truman Little White House. This was the building that the country’s 33rd president used as a hideaway for long-term visits and holidays.

Peanut Island, located off the coast of waters off West Palm Beach, is also home to the so-called “Kennedy Bunker.” This is a nuclear bomb shelter built during President John F. Kennedy’s term at the height of the Cold War. It is not open to the public.

Where are the other presidential libraries?

Here’s the list of Presidential libraries:

Franklin D. Roosevelt, Hyde Park, New York.

Harry Truman, Independence, Missouri.

Dwight Eisenhower of Abilene, Kansas.

John F. Kennedy, Boston.

Lyndon Johnson of Austin, Texas.

Richard Nixon, Yoruba Linda, California.

Gerald Ford of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Grand Rapids.

Jimmy Carter, Atlanta.

Ronald Reagan, Simi Valley, California.

George H.W. Bush, College Station, Texas.

Bill Clinton, Little Rock, Arkansas.

George W. Bush, Dallas.

Barack Obama planned for Chicago.

Activists vow to protect George Washington’s necktie displays to slavery

0

The President’s House in Philadelphia is a monument to those who educate visitors about their connection to slavery in Washington.

play

Philadelphia – Michael Code is a criminal defense lawyer who peers at his thoughts on the president’s home with familiar courtroom phrases.

“We need to tell you the truth, the truth and only the truth,” he said many times while discussing the exhibition at the president’s home away from Liberty Bell and Independence Hall in Philadelphia’s historic district.

The truth on display in the President’s House is that founding father and first president, General George Washington, who led the battle for American independence, owned humans, benefited from their unpaid workers, and tried for years to recapture them when one of them took a break for freedom. And while he lived in Philadelphia and then the capital of the country, Washington protected those who were enslaved to the house where he lived.

Meanwhile, other displays telling the stories of enslaved people are being scrutinized by the Trump administration as part of an exhibition that says it “inappropriately stores Americans” as reviews of monuments, monuments and museum exhibits. Trump and some conservatives believe that historic sites and museums are focusing too much on painful elements of the US past, including Native American slavery, displacement, murder, racism and discrimination. The president said the focus should provide a “false reconstruction of American history,” and that federally funded sites should instead promote ideas of patriotism and American exceptionalism.

For now, all displays of the president’s home remain intact and there is no immediate plan to remove or modify them, Coard said. But he and a group of activists, parents and others know about the controversy on sites, including the Smithsonian and the Museum of African-American History and Culture, but he said he still has a backup plan.

In an email response to USA Today’s investigation into the site, the NPS said it was following Trump’s order “restore the truth and sanity to American history.” The statement did not provide details on how the order would affect the president’s home.

Because Philadelphia area residents Sheldon and Brenda Rich visited the president’s home on September 18th and wanted to include the exhibits if they were to be exhibited or changed. “I think the current administration is doing its best to create a revised version of history on slavery,” Sheldon Rich said.

Coard, which led an effort to recognize the site as a former home for those enslaved decades ago, is part of a grassroots coalition of people in and around Philadelphia, who work to ensure that the president’s home, which is part of an Independent National Park, is not changed, altered, excluded or censored.

“It won’t be lost,” he vowed.

The President’s House: Paradox of Freedom and Slavery

Sitting outside the president’s home on a warm September afternoon, coard said that both Washington and John Adams (who had never owned a slave) never knew about the places they had been enslaved there and those who were enslaved there while attending one of the city’s most prestigious high schools and nearby HBCU, Cheney University.

Located at the busy intersection of Sixth Avenue and Market Street, the site has been forgotten for decades when it was covered as the city grew. In 2002, historian of the Independent Hall Association, Ed Lawler published a paper on the site and when the National Park Service prepared to move the Liberty Bell to a new pavilion nearby, archaeologists began excavating evidence from the House. Meanwhile, coard and a group of activists formed the vengeance of the Ancestors’ Union (ATAC) and lobbyed the city and the National Park Service for monuments to enslaved people. It finally became a reality in 2010.

“Slavery was in America’s first White House,” Coard said. “If you want to call (Washington) a great general, do it. If you want to call him a great president, do it. No one opposes it. But this is history, and he circulated slaves both inside and outside of Philadelphia (phasing out Pennsylvania’s Slavery Act of 1780).” It is the reality that Code and what he called the “rainbow coalition” of activists must be recognized as just as part of Washington’s legacy as his achievements and leadership.

The site contains the stories of people like Oinkijj, a tailor born in Mount Vernon and fled from slavery while in Philadelphia, and was considered a fugitive by Washington, who had tried to get her back for years. and Hercules Posey, a chef famous in both Virginia and Philadelphia, who fled slavery and was eventually given a manuscript by both George and Martha Washington. The reenactors share in their video presentations what life was like for those enslaved. Displays teach visitors about the business of slavery, how enslaved people gained freedom (or not), and how they gained wages and unpaid labor in colonial America.

The President’s House, Liberty Bell and Independence Hall were all bustling on the day coard met USA Today. Tourists and locals stopped by. Many supported the presentation of plain facts about the first president.

“They’re making videos on Philadelphia’s historic sites,” said John McCann, YouTube’s content creator who makes videos on Philadelphia’s historic site.

Hunter Dean, a Louisiana native and Texas resident, visits with his family, describes himself as “very patriotic” and wears a shirt that reads, “I defend the Second Amendment with the Second Amendment.”

“History is everything,” he said. “If we don’t learn history, there’s no future.”

What’s next for that exhibition on President’s House and Slavery?

For now, the exhibition at the president’s house remains the same. Still, the Coard remains vigilant, with ATAC planning protests, strategic sessions and awareness campaigns. He praises the public support for the exhibition.

If the exhibition faces scrutiny and calls for change, Coard said ATAC has plans to include real estate lawyers, conservators, architects and activists. The plan includes a legal injunction and pressure on political leaders both locally and nationwide.

“If you really don’t know America, you can’t become a patriotic American,” he said. “And to love America, you need to know the good, bad, ugh.”

Russell Wilson’s trade could be good for QB, Giants as deadline approaches

0

play

  • From his first job, Russell Wilson was still able to play a very important role… in another NFL city.
  • The NFL trading deadline is approaching November 4th, but in many cases, significant transactions take place a few weeks in advance.
  • Several well-known players, including Tyreek Hill and Kirk Cousins, could move as team situations change.

It’s already clear who’s falling into the unrelated hole in the NFL as summer gives way to fall. But even the depths of soccer purgatory have the opportunity to spiralize the teams and players trying to escape it.

The league’s trade deadline is closer than ever, with the league being set to expire at 4pm on November 4th the day after the ninth week of the regular season schedule. However, recent history shows that the increased salary cap and the collection of more aggressive general managers who are probably not married to draft capital as their predecessors, are likely to decline much earlier than their deadline. Wideouts Davante Adams and Amari Cooper were dealt with three weeks before the 2024 cutoff, for example. Three years ago, Christian McCaffrey was shipped from Carolina to San Francisco almost two weeks before the deadline.

“I’m always looking,” Bills GM Brandon Beane also notes the benefits of giving them more time to adapt to new environments and schematics last year after acquiring Cooper.

“Whenever I can add a player… I’m going to keep an eye on it.”

And while it’s not October yet, there’s a lot going on in the next three, six weeks, etc., take Beane’s advice and keep an eye on it. NFL teams are wise to watch as things continue to unfold in the coming days and weeks.

Getting him would be like an emergency breakdown. Also, given that his cousin owes the $27.5 million proportional version of his base salary this season, he needs plenty of cap room from potential suitors. He recently turned 37, but has now been removed two years since Achilles’ surgery. The terms will certainly be specific, especially since the cousin’s no trade clause allows him to kill any trade, but they lack sufficient confidence that in-house backups could endure over the long term if teams like the Lions, Rams and Seahawks suddenly realize they have long-term needs behind the center…

Viewing Team – TBD: There’s a reason why my cousin hasn’t moved yet. But this is when the NFL, and unexpected, hopeless situations can occur at any time.

The veteran pass rush signed a one-year, $10 million contract in March. That means he is very available. Following free agency, Atlanta spent his first round picks on edge players Jaron Walker and James Pierce Jr., but while it’s certainly worth learning from the 10th-year veteran with a 67½ career sack, there’s an incentive for GM Terry Fontenot to move Floyd.

Viewing Team – 49ers: They recreated Floyd in 2024 when they lost De Nick Bosa torn ACL to the ACL that had 8½ bags of Niners.

He had a turbulent summer and had brief training camp aside in prolonged negotiations with the team to agree to both Hendrickson and the Bengals Rays. Still, Hendrickson was able to make up to $30 million in 2025, but he is still planning to walk in 2026. Obviously, the Bengalis did not pay him to trade him and historically did not tend to make seasonal moves. However, Cincinnati, who dealt with QB Carson Palmer during the 2011 campaign, didn’t know two weeks ago that there would likely be no injured QB Joe Barrow, if not for the rest of the 2025 season. And if Bengals D continues to look just as good as last Sunday in Minnesota, why not move from Hendrickson (30) when his production can still guarantee a great return, given that he is very likely to move in a few months anyway.

The team watching – Eagles: They linked with Miles Garrett and Mika Parsons earlier this year and were certainly able to use the veteran pass rush after losing Super Bowl 59 hero Josh Sweatt in free agency.

He said all the right things after reducing Finn to 0-3 when Thursday’s losses looked very difficult for the team. Vote for the NFL top player in a fellow survey just a year ago, Hill left the team in the 2024 regular season finale, stripped of his team captain this summer, publicly criticised by QB Tua Tagovailoa and accused of domestic abuse by his estranged wife. Nonetheless, he is still a rare game breaker that can make a good team great. And with his base salary scheduled to rise to nearly $30 million in 2026, the final year of his contract, Dolphins can’t afford to wait for a long time if they’re going to get something back from their investment in the leech.

Watching Team – Chiefs: Perhaps his reunion with his previous team would be overstated after Hill was shipped from KC three years ago. But perhaps a team suitable to harness his talent and manage his mood would need to make bold moves to retain that “perennial” status.

Historically speaking, saints were not prone to throw towels. But especially after GM Mickey Loomis exported CB Marshon Lattimore a year ago, if there’s a year to do that… Kamara is one of the best players in franchise history. He is also a 30-year-old running back who has never smelled the Super Bowl, and won’t do that this year or the next New Orleans. And despite his age, Kamala’s playing style was not something that he was exposed to the level of abuse that his most traditional back endured. Used wisely, he can still become a major asset at every stage of crime. And his situation appears to be useful in divorce lawsuits that are beneficial to both parties.

The team watching – Cardinals: Arizona appears to be located to compete for the playoff berth. However, that became a more difficult purpose in the aftermath of RB James Connor’s season-ending ankle injury. Kamala is quickly able to step into the backfield-by-side committee, successfully complementing second-year Banger Trey Benson, and also appears to be able to play well for multidimensional QB Kyler Murray.

He is in the final year of his contract. He asked for a deal last month. He established his personal best in 2024 with 87 gloves for 1,027 yards. It shouldn’t be too much of a hold-up here unless there is more to prove that Silver and Black are not on the road anywhere in 2025.

Watching Team – Steelers: They are already in Go-for-IT mode, but have received little production from the wide-out position, beyond DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin III. And yes, the Steelers prefer to roll on multiple tight ends. However, some additional offensive differences could not be hurt. It might also be wise to have another dynamic pass catcher due to these inevitable scenarios when Aaron Rodgers and Co. have to make up for a substantial deficit without the luxury of time.

He is 29 years old in the final year of his contract (base salary of $1.3 million), but he could still be an impact player in the right circumstances. However, Njoku is missing out on newcomer Te Harold Fannin Jr. with his team that can always rebuild or reassess the full-on.

The team watching – Buccaneers: Njoku had one of the best seasons in 2018 with the then brown QB Baker Mayfield. Why don’t they reunite and bring any additional elements to the Tampa Bay attack that seems unable to keep the pass catcher healthy?

Game-loving interior defensive linemen are one of the most valuable items in the NFL. And why Titan signed Simmons to a four-year, $94 million extension. He’s on a contract until 2027, but for now, Tennessee doesn’t seem to be in a serious position to compete by then. However, rookie GM Mike Borgonzi has undoubtedly been able to promote rebuilding by dealing with a 28-year-old player who still has the best year left and gets great returns.

Viewing Team – Lion: Detroit made another appearance at Super Bowl Calibur in Monday night’s victory in Baltimore. But it goes without saying that injury and depth flaws for the Lions in 2024 cost the Lions quite a bit, and De Aidan Hutchinson is likely to attract more and more double teams as the years go by. What an inside out combo for him and Simmons if they unite.

After failing to post in a four-way quarterback battle at Browns training camp, Pickett was traded in August for the third time in less than 18 months, to backstop Genosmith following O’Connell’s preseason wrist injury. However, O’Connell is expected to be healthy before the deadline, and there is little reason why two veterans are unlikely to claim QB1 reins on the merits that hold the merits behind Smith (tablets, tablets, tablets).

Viewing Team – Packers: Malik Willis carried them in a pinch last year without Jordan’s love, but he was not asked to manipulate the attack at a similar level. Maybe he’s leaving it to the task now… and, for example, if love is lost in a 6-week stretch, it might be wise to see a more experienced fallback.

The era of rookie Jackson Dart came in Gotham…this leaves little reason to carry Winston and Wilson, particularly Wilson, has an infinite (proportional) base salary of $2 million and an expired contract. At this point it is difficult to see another extended starting opportunity to present itself to either veteran. However, a playoff caliber team suddenly needs an intermediate bridge, which could lead to invaluable insurance. This is probably a better result than being relegated to answer questions from a 22-year-old football savior who only needs one “mentor.” And Wilson showed in Week 2 that he could still shine in the burst.

Viewing Team – Charger: Let’s say QB Justin Herbert is suffering from a high-class sprain or may break his fingers with his passing hand. Does the bolt really roll along with the tray lance or is it an undrafted rookie dj uiagalelei? If QB1 goes down, you can find a team with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations that are in a more unstable position.
