See the most talked about moments in the Senate about Chuck Schumer
Sen. Chuck Schumer is accused of releasing gas in the Senate chamber, but the source of the sound is unknown.
Amy Schumer tried to pardon her cousin, once removed from office, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who was accused of pouring gas into the Senate chamber earlier this week.
Schumer came to the 75-year-old Senate minority leader’s defense on Tuesday, July 14, after being called out by Republican colleagues over Toot’s dilemma. In a video obtained by USA TODAY, Schumer can be heard allegedly farting while talking to President Donald Trump about the Iran conflict.
Neither Schumer nor his office have publicly acknowledged the incident. USA TODAY reached out to Schumer’s office for comment on July 17.
Here’s what you need to know about the stinking Senate situation.

Amy Schumer took to social media on July 16 to explain that she was the one who farted during Chuck Schumer’s speech criticizing the Trump administration the day before.
“I was the one who (expletive) on the Senate floor,” Amy Schumer wrote on her Instagram Story, adding the hashtags “Hot Mic Just Got Hotter.”
It is unclear whether Chuck Schumer was actually leaking gas, or whether it was just a microphone issue or some other anomaly.
Burchett: “I think he just went to Taco Bell.”
Amy Schumer’s comments came after Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) criticized his Democratic colleague during an interview with TMZ DC.
“I think he was just going to Taco Bell,” Burchett said, referring to the ongoing outbreak of cysticercosis, a parasite that causes “explosive” diarrhea, that has hit the United States in recent weeks.
Taco Bell found itself at the center of the problem and began removing food from some stores as health officials traced the origins of the disease.

The Tennessee Republican extended an olive branch to Schumer, saying, “Chuck, it’s okay, baby, you’re human. If you need me, I’m here.”
Burchett also acknowledged his age and what it means for his digestive system. “I’m 61 years old. If I walk by the bathroom, it’s just a coincidence,” he said.
