Selection Sunday for the 2026 NCAA Tournament is just one day away, and teams have already booked their spots in March Madness.

The winners of each of the 31 conference tournaments will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, with the remaining 37 spots being awarded to at-large participants by the tournament’s selection committee.

For the vast majority of middle- and lower-tier major leagues, automatic entry through winning the conference tournament is the only condition for league entry.

What date does Women’s March Madness start?

The First Four on the women’s side of the NCAA Tournament begins Wednesday, March 18th and continues through Thursday, March 19th.

The four women’s games will feature the final four at-large selections who will be in the field, as well as the four lowest-rated No. 16 seeds. The winner of each matchup advances to the first round. The first round will begin on March 20th and 21st.

When is Selection Sunday?

Selection Sunday for the 2025-26 college basketball season will be held on Sunday, March 15, when the brackets for the men’s and women’s NCAA tournaments will be announced.
