What is President Trump’s Freedom 250? It’s different from America250.
What is Freedom 250 — a White House-backed group that supports Fourth of July events on the National Mall and the Great American State Fair.
America is gearing up for this year’s milestone birthday, and preparations for grand celebrations are underway across the country.
President Donald Trump is also participating in celebrations organized through Freedom 250, the White House-backed public-private partnership behind the Great American State Fair and Fourth of July celebrations on the National Mall. Freedom 250 was launched through the Task Force 250 initiative, which plans the event separately from America 250.
The 16-day state fair opened June 25, but crowds were sparse for the first few days, even though President Trump claimed it was “full of happy people.” The president kicked off the exposition with a June 24 rally in which he highlighted anti-transgender policies, praised immigration officials conducting deportation drives, and promoted a preliminary peace agreement with Iran.
President Trump is also currently expected to participate in the Freedom 250 fireworks celebration on July 4th. Here’s what we know so far about President Trump’s Fourth of July schedule.
Where is President Trump on July 4th?
President Trump is scheduled to attend the Fourth of July fireworks display on the National Mall in Washington on July 4th. President Trump described the event as a “rally” and said he would begin speaking at 9 p.m. local time, The Washington Post reported.
The fireworks show, part of the Salute to America 250 Celebration and Fireworks, will be held at the Washington Monument in Washington and is scheduled to begin later than usual around 10:30 p.m. ET, according to the Freedom 250 website.
Officials said more than 850,000 fireworks will be launched from 10 venues, with the president calling it the largest fireworks display in history. Estimated travel time is 40 minutes.
The president’s plans for the rest of his days are still unclear, and the White House did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for more information.
