Funeral services for former US Vice President Dick Cheney will be held on Thursday, November 20th in Washington, DC.

The former vice president died on November 3 of complications from pneumonia and cardiovascular disease, according to his family. He was 84 years old.

The 11 a.m. ET service at Washington National Cathedral will be by invitation only, the Gothic cathedral announced Thursday, Nov. 13.

The general public can also watch the service online. The cathedral said safety measures would be put in place “to ensure the health and safety” of invited guests and staff in attendance.

When did Cheney become president?

Cheney served in the Bush administration from 2001 to 2009 and was considered one of Bush’s most powerful and controversial figures, largely due to his role in leading the push to invade Iraq in 2003.

After the Jan. 6, 2021, riot, he turned into a critic of President Donald Trump and said he would vote for former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, USA TODAY previously reported.
