In a speech at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, President Donald Trump reiterated his claim that Greenland is a US territory.

Trump speaks at Davos, days after threatening 10% tariffs It applies to all goods sent to the United States from eight NATO countries, unless the United States is allowed to purchase Greenland. European leaders denounced it as intimidation.

“All the United States wants is a place called Greenland,” President Trump said on January 21. “All we want is to have Greenland. In order to protect it, we need ownership, and that includes proper title and title.”

Trump went on to say that the United States needs Greenland for national security reasons because it is the only country that can protect the Arctic island from adversaries such as Russia and China.

After the speech, President Trump announced that he had reached a “framework for a future agreement” on Greenland and said he was reversing his earlier threat to impose new tariffs on Europe after speaking with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.
