WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said on July 5 that his administration is working with Texas and local officials in response to a fatal flash flood that killed at least 27 people in the state.

“Our Secretary of Homeland Security, Christy Noem, will be there soon,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social Platform on Saturday. “Melania and I pray for all the families affected by this terrible tragedy.”

Deaths continued to rise after rainy rain quickly overwhelmed Texas’ Guadalupe River on Friday. It prompted a desperate, continuing rescue effort that continued into Saturday, including a search for 27 people from Camp Mystic, a Christian Girls camp on the edge of the river in Carr County, central Texas.

“Our brave first responders are on the scene that they are doing their best,” Trump said. “God blesses the family, and God blesses Texas!”

At least 18 adults and nine children have been confirmed to have died in the flood that began Wednesday.

Authorities have recovered 850 undefeated people and eight injuries, stressing that these numbers could increase, Leesa said. “We’re working hard to ensure they’re safe to find people who are still missing,” Leesa said.

“The heart of our nation is broken for the victims of Texas and its family… I hope there are people who know that we are in the prayers of my family and millions of Americans,” Vice President J.D. Vice President Vance said on Saturday.
