Will Trader Joe’s open a store in South Philadelphia?
Is Trader Joe’s coming to the Philadelphia area? Here’s what we know.
Trader Joe’s is expanding, with five more stores scheduled to open across the U.S. in the coming months.
The California-based grocer, which operates in 42 states, plans to add three more locations, building on momentum from previous new store opening announcements. The move confirms the grocery store chain’s steady growth strategy as demand for low-priced private label groceries continues to increase.
New stores are planned in California, Illinois and Maryland. Trader Joe’s has already opened various stores in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and New York starting in early 2026.
As with other store opening announcements, Trader Joe’s did not provide a specific date for when the new store would open.

Where will Trader Joe’s open new stores?
Five new stores are scheduled to open in three states. These locations are:
- 3962 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego
- 2741 Plainfield Road, Joliet, Illinois
- 2135 Claribel Road, Riverbank, California
- 6311 York Road, Baltimore
- 1590 Leucadia Blvd., Encinitas, California
These three new stores are in addition to others that Trader Joe’s announced earlier this year.
