Something you purchased has been recalled. What does that mean?
What happens if something you purchase is recalled? Is it voluntary or mandatory? And what does it mean for you?
Best Buy is recalling thousands of Insignia front-control gas ranges and warning consumers that the appliances are a fire hazard and can cause serious injury.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall after Best Buy said the affected gas ranges could be unintentionally turned on by people or pets. According to the recall notice, the company has received one report of a knob being activated by accidental contact, but no injuries have been reported.
This recall affects approximately 3,820 Insignia front control gas ranges sold in the United States and an additional 700 units sold in Canada. The recalled appliances were available for purchase at Best Buy stores nationwide and online from November 2020 to March 2026 for prices ranging from $280 to $1,470.
Here’s what you need to know about the recalled gas ranges, including affected models and what consumers should do.
