Fans got their hands on new Starbucks x Miffy merchandise before sunrise
Miffy fans lined up before sunrise, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, to get their hands on Starbucks’ new Miffy.
Today, there’s no shortage of trending Starbucks drinks and trendy menu customization options. However, this was not always the case.
To honor one of the first fandoms to popularize the viral drink 2016’s Pink Drink, the Seattle-based coffee giant has announced the launch of a new product line.
Here’s what you need to know about the new merch and the viral trend it sparked.
Pink drinks are a hot topic
If you’re a longtime fan of the hot Starbucks beverage, you may remember 2016’s Pink Drink. It’s a strawberry and acai-based drink mixed with coconut milk, giving it an unmistakable creamy pink color.
After some people started customizing the drink by substituting water for coconut milk, it quickly spread on social media thanks to the #pink Drink hashtag, effectively making it one of the first Starbucks drinks to go viral and cementing its place on the official menu in 2017.
“Pink Drink is one of Starbucks’ most beloved beverages, and its fan base continues to grow,” said Kap Pittaris, Starbucks’ head of product strategy.
Goods drop inspired by a pink drink
In honor of its decade-long fan base, Starbucks has announced a new collection of pink drink-inspired products. The product collection will be available in select stores and online for Starbucks Rewards members starting July 7th.
“There are pieces that are uplifting,” Pitaris said. “We just wanted to take things that people love and make sure that permeates the collection.”
The new product line includes drinkware such as water bottles, glass cups and tumblers. There are also some accessories such as keychains, belt bags, hair clips, and hats.
New Bearista Cup gets rid of pink waves
Meanwhile, Starbucks recently announced the latest addition to its hugely popular Bearista Cup.
The latest edition glass cup is pink and features a virus bear wearing a hat with a strawberry straw topper. According to the company’s website, the cup has a style that feels “bright, playful and unmistakably Starbucks,” and is designed to “bring a playful and seasonal feel.”
Starting July 9, Starbucks Rewards Reserve members will have early access to Pink Bearista Glass Cold Cups through Starbucks stores, according to the company. The cups will then go on sale in select locations across the U.S. on July 13, while supplies last.
Starbucks stores limit in-store and online purchases to two items per customer.
