- Sam’s Club is expanding into suburban Houston and the Rio Grande Valley, increasing competition for memberships with Costco, BJ’s and local grocers.
Four new Sam’s Club warehouse stores are headed to Texas. Three of the stores are in the Houston area and one is in the Rio Grande Valley.
A spokesperson for Walmart Inc.’s Larter told USA TODAY that the company will open seven stores across the U.S. in December 2025, more than half of which will be in Texas.
Although the company has not announced an official opening date, the new store will increase the number of Sam’s Club stores in Texas to 86.

Sam’s Club Membership Price
Sam’s Club has two membership levels: $60 per year Club and $120 per year Plus.
Both memberships include free curbside pickup and members-only fuel pricing. Plus members also enjoy early shopping hours and discounts at pharmacies, optical centers, and tire centers.
