Rob Gronkowski is praising fellow NFL star Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s recent wedding.
In episode 7 of Tubi’s “The Other Football,” released on Wednesday, July 8, the four-time Super Bowl champion talked about what it’s like to be one of the guests at the star-studded New York City extravaganza.
Gronkowski told co-host Jameis Winston that while waiting to get off the train at Madison Square Garden on July 3, he tried to find time to watch the World Cup game between Argentina and Cape Verde, which nearly ended in an overtime upset for Lionel Messi and his team.
“This was the most black cars I’ve ever seen coming into Madison Square Garden, five blocks in a row,” Gronkowski said. “I’m not going to sit here and do nothing. Let’s put that match on the screen. Now we’re ready for the wedding, because that was one of the best matches you’ve ever seen.”
He added, “It got you up out of your seat and got you excited, and it was no different at this wedding, dude.”
“It was first class,” Gronkowski continued. “Hats off to Taylor and Trav. And the dance floor, that’s the only thing. They were having a blast, Jamis.”
The NFL star came out on top with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the final Super Bowl of 2021, defeating Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs 31-9. Despite the loss, he and Kelce appear to have maintained a good relationship.
After weeks of speculation, Kelsea and Swift tied the knot on July 3, during a heat wave, with Adam Sandler officiating. Their wedding party consisted solely of their respective brothers, Jason Kelce and Austin Swift, and the bride and groom both wore Christian Dior haute couture.
No official photos from the event have been released, leaving fans to spread unidentified images and speculate about how the superstar couple pulled off the intimate ceremony at a venue that is primarily a sports venue.
Those in attendance at the event included Kelce and Swift’s associates, including NFL colleagues such as Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, as well as Swift’s musical collaborators and friends such as Jack Antonoff, Ed Sheeran and Zoe Kravitz.
Gronkowski also acknowledged that the high-profile event increased the pressure on himself and his girlfriend of more than 10 years, Camille Kostek.
“When you get married in front of your lover, you start asking everyone,” he says. “So there’s a lot of encouragement. There’s no doubt about that, Jamis.”
