LeBron James details game plan breakdown for Game 1 between Lakers and Thunder
LeBron James scored 27 points for the Lakers, who were playing without injured Luka Doncic in Game 1 against the Thunder on Tuesday.
Legendary professional wrestler Ric Flair may have captured the frustration of some Los Angeles Lakers fans over Luka Doncic being sidelined for the past five weeks with a Grade 2 hamstring injury.
Flair was also nervous.
Famous for his signature “woo”, Flair said on X, “Luke, get in the game! Take some cortisone and deal with the pain! They pay you 50 million a year and you’re not there! Oh my! I hope @JeanieBuss trades you next year. Who doesn’t want a lame duck on their team!”
Flair received some backlash for his X account as the Lakers fell 1-0 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the semifinals of the Western Conference playoff series.
One commenter wrote to Flair, “Buddy, this is a real sport you’re talking about. It’s not some greasy wrestling thing where you put on a speedo and mind the other guys.”
“Listen, you crusty old grave avoider. The reason Luka got hurt in the first place is because they made him play for no reason.”
Yet another wrote, “I hope Luka knows we Laker fans aren’t co-signing this.”
Did Doncic see the tweet or was it just a coincidence? But the day after Flair’s social media post, Doncic spoke to reporters for the first time since injuring his hamstring in a 139-96 loss to the Thunder on April 2.
“I’m very frustrated,” Doncic told reporters, according to ESPN. “I don’t think people understand how frustrating it is. All I want to do is play basketball, especially this time. It’s a great time to play basketball.”
“It’s very frustrating to watch your team do what they do. I’m very proud of them. It was very hard to just sit back and watch them play.”
Flair’s tweet also coincided with the Lakers’ 108-90 loss to the Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.
