President Donald Trump’s approval rating remains in the 30s, with most Americans disapproving of his handling of the economy, the Iran conflict and the nation’s overall direction, according to the latest Washington Post/Ipsos poll.
The poll was conducted between July 8 and July 13 among 2,648 adults, and found that 37% approve of President Trump’s job performance and 61% disapprove. They also express deep skepticism about his approach to Iran and growing economic instability, with a majority criticizing his response to both issues.
The poll found that only 31% of Americans said they believed U.S. military action and negotiations would stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. The survey also found that 69% disapprove of President Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict, while 29% approve.
The economy remains a drag for Trump
Economic concerns continue to weigh on voters’ views of the president.
The poll found that 65% of respondents disapproved of President Trump’s economic response. Only 20% expect economic conditions to improve over the next 12 months, and nearly half think they will get worse.
More than a year after Trump returned to the White House, 43% of Americans say they are no longer as financially well off as they were when Trump became president. This is similar to the 42% who said the same answer during former President Joe Biden’s tenure.
