Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on Thursday, Nov. 6, that the U.S. military had attacked a suspected drug carrier in international waters in the Caribbean, killing three men.

In a post on social media website X, Hegseth said the ship was operated by a “designated terrorist organization” but offered no further evidence. His post included a 20-second video clip of a boat in the water exploding after being hit by ammunition, and was marked as unclassified.

The military action is the latest of more than a dozen U.S. attacks on ships near the Venezuelan coast and recently in the eastern Pacific Ocean since September, leaving more than 60 people dead.
