Maple Leaf Foods has recalled more than 12,000 pounds of bacon imported into the United States from Canada due to import violations, according to a notice from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

FSIS said in a July 24 notice that the products were “imported from Canada without the benefit of import re-inspection into the United States.”

According to FSIS, the recall affects non-ready-to-eat smoked bacon products distributed to retail stores in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

According to the recall notice, no illnesses have been reported associated with the product.

The recall also comes about a week after President Donald Trump’s administration announced it would impose 50% tariffs on many Canadian imports. The tariffs are expected to affect products imported into the United States from Canada’s auto, alcohol, and dairy industries and are scheduled to go into effect on August 19. However, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has indicated he is open to negotiations, so the final tax rate and range could still change.

Here’s what you need to know about the bacon recall.
