USA TODAY’s Fernando Cervantes takes a look at the states with the most Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots.
The Mega Millions jackpot has risen to $430 million, including a $191.2 million cash option, ahead of the Tuesday, June 16th drawing.
The prizes have been piling up for about three months without a winner. The final jackpot, a $60 million prize, was won by an Ohio player on St. Patrick’s Day.
If someone hits all six numbers tonight, they will be faced with the choice of receiving a one-off lump sum or opting for an annuity payment that increases by 5% each year.
With the next drawing just hours away, here’s what you need to know.

How to play Mega Millions
Players choose six numbers.
- 5 white balls from 1 to 70
- 1 mega ball from 1 to 24
Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at retail stores or online in some states. You can also choose Quick Pick for randomly generated numbers.
All tickets have built-in multipliers that increase winnings other than the jackpot.
