National grocery giant Kroger is changing its fuel points program to allow customers to use their earned points on items other than gasoline.

On Thursday, June 25, the Cincinnati-based grocer announced changes to its long-term rewards program. Kroger announced in a news release that its “refueling points” will now be referred to simply as “points.”

Instead of letting your points expire or not using them on fuel purchases, you can now use those points at checkout to earn dollars in grocery savings.

“We’re excited to help our customers stretch their budgets and give them more choice in how they spend the rewards they earn when shopping with us,” Megan Schaefer, vice president of customer growth and strategy for Kroger Group, said in a news release. “Customers can now choose the savings that matter most to them, whether it’s saving up to $35 on their next gas stop or saving a few dollars off their grocery bill.”

Kroger Fuel Points now allows shoppers to earn 1 point for every $1 spent using their points card in-store or online. Earnings start at 100 points, allowing customers to earn 10 cents per gallon of gas. Refueling points earned in a particular month will be valid from the following month and expire at the end of that month. Kroger Boost members (fees apply) earn 2x points on purchases.

Kroger may also offer additional point benefits when you purchase certain gift cards and other promotions.

structure

  • For every 100 points, customers receive 10 cents off per gallon of gas, up to a maximum of $1 per gallon. There is a 35 gallon limit. For example, if you have 1,000 points, you’ll get $1 off every gallon of gas. Points expire on the last day of each month.
  • When it comes to grocery savings, every 100 points gets you $1 off on groceries, up to $10 off per day. The maximum number of points awarded per day is 1,000 points.
  • Eligible prescriptions earn 25 points.

Kroger’s Current Summer Points Promotional Offers

  • Earn 4x points on Fridays through July 24th.
  • Points will be 4x for 4 days from July 1st to 4th.
  • Now through July 18th, earn 4x points when you purchase Private Selection products.

To redeem your points, you must activate them at Kroger.com or through the Kroger app before checkout. When ordering online for pickup or delivery, customers can redeem points for dollars from the groceries in their cart. Participation in the Kroger Rewards Program is free.
