Kamala Harris says she “may” run for president in 2028
Former Vice President Kamala Harris has said she may run for president again after losing the 2024 election to President Donald Trump.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly endorsed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for re-election.
The Los Angeles Times and San Francisco Chronicle reported on Monday, May 4, that Harris endorsed Bass. The San Francisco Chronicle also reported that Harris has endorsed other candidates running in California, but specifically not one running for governor.
The former vice president’s office did not immediately respond to USA TODAY Network’s request for a statement about the reported endorsement.
Taking place just weeks before the June 2 primary, Californians will be tasked with deciding which candidate advances to the November general election. In Los Angeles, voters will decide whether Bass, the incumbent, can continue to lead the metropolis after devastating wildfires and continue preparing for global sporting events like the Los Angeles Olympics.
Who did Kamala Harris support in California?
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Harris also supports incumbent Rob Bonta for attorney general. Maria Cohen, current Secretary of State. Deputy Governor Eleni Kounalakis will serve as treasurer.
Harris’ office did not immediately confirm the endorsement when contacted by the USA TODAY Network.
Last July, the former vice president announced he would not run for governor of California, ending months of speculation.
Is Bass leading in LA mayoral polls?
A UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs poll conducted in early April found that while Karen Bass leads with 25% of voters, a majority of voters (40%) are undecided in the race as the race draws closer.
Next to Bass was Spencer Pratt with 11%. The former reality star of “The Hills” fame lost the home he shared with wife Heidi Montag in the Palisades fire and has been critical of Bass.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles City Council member Nitya Raman had a 9% approval rating, while pastor and community organizer Ray Chen Fan and entrepreneur Adam Miller both had 3% support.
The numbers were not that different from the Emerson College Poll/California Internal Politics poll released in March. Bass and Pratt were the only candidates with double-digit support, with Bass in the lead.
