WASHINGTON – Speaker, Mike Johnson and R-Louisiana sent lawmakers home early in the five-week summer break as tensions continue to simmer over Jeffrey Epstein’s case files.

The lawmaker left Washington on July 24th and is scheduled to go out until August, returning to the state and district.

But as Democrats and a handful of Republicans threaten to overturn regular legislative operations over efforts to seal files related to dishonorable financiers and sex offenders, Johnson said he would pay votes to shorten his schedule and end with votes.

“We’re not going to play a political game with this,” Johnson said at a July 22nd press conference.

Maga voters’ complaints about the Justice Department’s recent review of Epstein’s case have driven the wedge between President Donald Trump and his usual loyal foundation.
