Jimmy Kimmel slams Donald Trump after winning Critics Choice Award

“The banner ad has been on the air for a few weeks now and we can’t wait to see it again tomorrow night,” the host teased.

LOS ANGELES – Jimmy Kimmel has revealed that President Donald J. Trump is responsible for the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Talk Show Host.

Kimmel, 58, just took issue with the president’s name during an acceptance speech on behalf of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Sunday, January 4th.

“I want to thank our president, Donald Jennifer Trump. Without him, we would be going home empty-handed tonight,” Kimmel said. “So, Mr. President, thank you for all the many stupid things you do every day.”

Kimmel has made President Trump and his administration the butt of many jokes, leading to the late-night comic being pulled from airing by ABC’s parent company.

Disney suspended Kimmel on September 17 after he made comments about the shooting death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk on his show two days earlier.

The show returned six days later, and ratings soared as Americans tuned in to watch the ongoing cultural firestorm. Kimmel continues to skewer Trump and will continue to do so when Trump returns to the skies after the holidays on Monday, January 5th.

“It’s been a hot topic for several weeks, and I can’t wait to get back on the air tomorrow night and talk about them,” Kimmel said.

Kimmel also looked down on Trump after reviewing the Critics’ Choice Award, lamenting that it was not the FIFA World Peace Award given to the president by soccer’s governing body.

But the comedian wasn’t just joking; he was all about freedom of speech.

“Thank you to all the writers, actors, producers, union members, and so many of you in this room for supporting us, moving forward with us, and reminding us that we don’t take free speech for granted in this city or this country,” Kimmel said. “Your actions matter and we appreciate them.”
