The new series of “Real Housewives of New York” has lost a cast member before it airs.

The E! Network show “The Golden Life” is intended to be a renewal of “RHONY” and stars some of the women from the original series. Among them was Jill Zarin, who was reportedly removed from the cast this week after receiving backlash for her comments about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance.

In a since-deleted video posted to Instagram, Zarin called the reggaeton singer’s set “the worst halftime show ever,” criticized his decision to sing almost exclusively in Spanish, and complained that “there wasn’t a single white person” at the performance.

“I think it’s really sad that the NFL is sold out,” Zarin, 62, added, saying he felt the show was a political statement against Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Critics have characterized Bad Bunny’s performances as an homage to his musical influences on his home island of Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory, and in New York, where much of the diaspora lives.

Blink 49 Studios, the show’s production company, confirmed Zarin’s firing in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

“In light of recent public comments by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in ‘The Golden Life.’ We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our standards and values,” they said. USA TODAY has reached out to Blink49 for comment.

Zarin lamented the swift move in a statement to InTouch magazine.

“They didn’t even give me a chance. I took it down right away,” she told the outlet. “People make mistakes. I’m human too.”

Starring Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Sonya Morgan and Kelly Bensimon, “The Golden Life” follows a group of women who move from New York to Palm Beach, Florida. The women who were reality TV royalty will be filmed engaging in the signature antics that made the original “RHONY” popular, fighting, making up stories and rehashing years of drama.
