James Van Der Beek’s ex-wife Heather McComb remarries
Heather McComb and actor Scott Michael Campbell are married. McComb was previously married to James Van Der Beek for seven years.
James Van Der Beek’s ex-wife Heather McComb remarried four months after the “Dawson’s Creek” actor’s death.
McComb shared on Instagram that she married actor Scott Michael Campbell on May 30 in Missoula, Montana.
“Our hearts are filled and humbled by all the love we have been surrounded by,” she wrote in a lengthy post featuring photos from the couple’s wedding.
The 49-year-old actress was married to van der Beek for about seven years from 2003 until their divorce in 2010.
Van der Beek was married to his second wife, Kimberly van der Beek, at the time of his death from colorectal cancer on February 11. The couple married in 2010 and have six children.

McComb took to Instagram to thank her and her new husband’s family and friends who “came from all over the country” for their wedding.
“You all created a special and truly magical weekend that we will never forget. We sit here and count our many blessings. Thank you everyone for making this so special for us!” she wrote.
Campbell shared a series of photos on her account, writing: “It’s been the most amazing week and the absolute joy of marrying my beautiful soul @heatmccomb.”
McComb previously said on Instagram that the two began dating in 2023 after knowing each other for more than 15 years. They got engaged in April 2025.
McComb is best known for appearing on shows like “Party of Five” and “Profiler” in the 1990s. In recent years, he has appeared on “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Rookie.”
Campbell’s acting career also dates back several decades. His on-screen credits include appearances on “Brokeback Mountain,” “ER” and “Shameless.”

Following Van Der Beek’s death, McComb paid her heartfelt condolences on Instagram, writing that their friendship “lasted for decades” despite their divorce.
“James was a beautiful soul filled with so much light, love, talent, humor, depth, sensitivity, knowledge, and a deep love for God that shone through him. He was so radiant, yet so humble and human,” she wrote on McComb’s 21st birthday, along with a photo of the two of them.
She also praised Kimberly Van Der Beek, calling her and James “true soulmates.”
“The way she appeared before him so gracefully was so beautiful and I will forever admire him,” she added.
McComb continued, “I love you James. I know you are welcomed home by so many loved ones. God bless you. Until we meet again, you kind soul.”
