Hyundai unveiled a rugged SUV called the Crater Concept on Thursday, November 20, the first day of the LA Auto Show, along with two performance cars.

The Crater Concept, whose matte green-gold exterior color is said to have been inspired by California’s coastal topography, took to the stage at the Los Angeles Convention Center in front of a large crowd of journalists and other spectators.

This SUV features a functional roll cage in the cabin, a large skid plate for protection underneath, and large wheels and tires measuring 18 inches and 33 inches respectively. It’s not clear when or if this vehicle will go into production, but it shows that Hyundai intends to push the limits of off-road design.

More Hyundai debuts: Electric Ioniq 6, Elantra

The company also showed off a very sleek limited edition electric Ioniq 6 N that will be released next year.

The company calls it an everyday sports car, promising 601 horsepower (641 with power boost) and 568 pound-feet of torque.

Hyundai also debuted the new Elantra N TCR Edition, which will be available exclusively in the first quarter of 2026.

The company said the Elantra will be offered with “6-speed manual or 8-speed dual-clutch transmissions to meet the wide range of driving preferences of enthusiasts.”

Pricing information was not available for either.
