The Harley-Davidson Motor Company recalls more than 82,000 bikes due to issues that increase the likelihood of crashes, the National Highway Traffic Safety Agency reports.

The rear shock preload adjuster mounting tabs could break with certain 2018-2024 soft ajackles, the federal agency said in a June 12 recall notice that the rear shock absorber adjuster would damage the rear tire and damage the tire pressure.

Possible malfunctions could lead to the risk of crashes and death, officials said.

Harley Davison had not reported any deaths or injuries related to the issue as of early June.

Some vehicles included in the recall had previously been repaired with the recall 23v591, so the new treatment needs to be completed.
