Platner’s resignation throws Democratic Senate plans into turmoil

Graham Platner has suspended his candidacy for the U.S. Senate in Maine, ending his tumultuous campaign. In a spate of scandals, Mr. Platner was accused of sexual assault by a woman this week, an allegation he denies as he seeks to win the elusive Republican seat. Platner’s resignation has increased pressure on Democratic leaders to find a new candidate to replace him by the end of business on July 13.
