General Motors recalls nearly 600,000 Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC vehicles due to engine issues that could cause damage or complete damage.

According to a notification originally reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on April 24, the recall covers all-in-all vehicles, including 126,027 Cadillacs, 174,208 Chevrolets and 297,395 GMC vehicles.

According to recall notifications, the connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components of these vehicles may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure..

Drivers may notice some warning signs before an engine failure, such as knocking from the engine and banging sounds, turning on check engine lights, or other engine performance issues such as abnormal shifts, hesitations, and reduced propulsion.

The recall covers the next vehicle equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine.

  • 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade
  • 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade ESV
  • 2021-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
  • 2021-2024 Chevrolet Suburbs
  • 2021-2024 Chevrolet Taho
  • 2021-2024 GMC Sierra 1500
  • 2021-2024 GMC Yukon
  • 2021-2024 GMC Yukon XL

What should I do if I have a car that I remember?

Anyone who owns the model mentioned in the recall can take the vehicle to a Cadillac, Chevrolet, or GMC dealer for free for engine inspection and engine repair or replacement. Vehicles that pass the inspection will have new oil filling caps, high viscosity oil, oil filter replacement, and owner manual updates are free.

The owner’s notification will be mailed on June 9th, 2025. Owners may also contact Chevrolet Customer Service (recall number N252494000) at 1-800-333-4223 (Chevrolet Customer Service 1-800-222-1020) or Chevrolet Customer Service (recall number N252494000) at 1-800-462-8782.
