Driver arrested after crashing into White House security barrier: officials

U.S. Secret Service agents arrested a man on suspicion of driving into a security checkpoint outside the White House, authorities said.

According to the Secret Service, the incident occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at a checkpoint on the west side of the White House complex.

No injuries were reported and the Secret Service did not release the man’s name. The agency did not say whether it believed it was intentional or discuss possible motives.

“The individual was immediately arrested by U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division personnel, and the vehicle was inspected by the Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department and determined to be safe,” the Secret Service said in a statement to multiple media outlets.

“We will provide additional information once the investigation is complete.”
