Brooke Baldwin is standing up to Megyn Kelly, claiming the former Fox News host spread false information about Baldwin’s sex life.
The former CNN anchor, 47, wrote in the July 26 issue of Unraveling with Brooke Baldwin Substack that Kelly, 55, “got the story completely wrong” for giving commentary that incorrectly characterized Baldwin as having sex with four men in a month. Kelly spoke about the incident on the July 21 episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” but the original YouTube video is now private.
Kelly’s remarks are not included in the currently released version of the episode. According to Baldwin, the original title for this episode was “‘Treatmented’ Former CNN Host Brooke Baldwin Says She Slept with Four Men in the Last Month.” She wrote that the title, which was later changed to “Former CNN host Brooke Baldwin overshares about her sex life,” did not refer to Baldwin.
Kelly referenced a July 19 Substack post titled “Casual Sex. Let’s Talk. 🔥🔥🔥,” in which Baldwin confessed that she redownloaded the dating app for five days and “had the opportunity to sleep with four different men” in the last month. Later in the post, behind a paywall, she clarified that she had “turned everything down.”
“My last Substack wasn’t that I had casual sex. It was that I chose not to have sex,” Baldwin wrote in a July 26 post condemning Kelly’s comments. “It was about heartbreak, discipline, and foresight. It was about protecting my energy while I was building something bigger than myself. And yet, for nearly nine minutes, Megyn built an entire discussion around a false narrative about my sex life and my physical choices, alongside three men giggling and accusing me.”
“No one from the show has contacted me for comment,” Baldwin claimed. “They didn’t seem to care that the premise of the segment was not true at all before broadcasting it to a huge audience.
She expressed concern about how Kelly’s comments reflected broader journalistic integrity, writing, “Integrity requires honesty, accuracy, and the humility to correct the record when the facts demand it. Without it, there is no trust.”
USA TODAY has reached out to Kelly’s team for comment.
In the following July 23 episode, Kelly mocked Baldwin’s “Casual Sex” newsletter, saying, “This is getting more pathetic by the day.”
“At the end of the day, we should have paid to read the rest of her stupid Substack, but we didn’t,” Kelly said. “In the paid article, she confessed that she didn’t actually have casual sex with these men. This was all just a teaser to get them to pay to hear her boring life recitation.”
What Brooke Baldwin said about casual sex
Baldwin wrote in an Instagram post on July 25 that her attorney “contacted[Kelly]directly to request that these videos be removed.”
Most of her original July 19 newsletter was behind a paywall, so she included the entire text in a social media post.
“If you’ve been reading my articles for a while, you know that I signed up for my first dating app a few months ago, stayed on it for about 3 minutes, and then deleted it,” she wrote. “Just recently, I tried again. Why? Maybe I wanted to distract myself. Maybe I liked kissing. Maybe I’m a grown woman who can do whatever I want. This time I succeeded… for five whole days.”
After revealing that four men proposed to her, she wrote, “Bottom line? I’m honored. Wait a minute. Me? That’s so old-school Brooke, I just want to be chosen. No, I’m not flattering. I’m not…surprised. Therein lies the truth.”
In the next part of the post, which is behind a paywall, Baldwin continued, “What did I do? I turned them all down. All, single, one.”
“It may be empowering. It will almost certainly be fun,” she added. “I also have a hard-earned position and don’t need a man to take care of me financially. I don’t need someone to save me from loneliness either. I’m blessed with extraordinary friendships. I also have an abundance of girlfriends. And I love my company dearly. I feel that my life is already fulfilled.”
Baldwin said she hasn’t been single since 2015, adding that she realized 10 years ago, “If you can’t tickle my brain, you can’t tickle anything else.” She is “not looking for a serious relationship right now” after the relationship ended earlier this year.
“Six months ago, I thought I would be getting married to someone this year (and was excited about it). Heartbreaks have their own timelines,” she wrote. “In this particular season of life, I care so much about what I’m building that I end up scattering my energy in a dozen different directions.”
