Blue Bell Creameries announced Thursday that it will reclaim its deprecated flavors that have not been available in stores since 2018.

The company’s groom’s cake ice cream flavour won a fantastic Scoop Previval Flavor Tournament last year and will be available in stores starting May 1, the ice cream maker said in a news release.

The tournament was held via the company’s social media accounts and website, giving Bluebell fans the opportunity to regain one of their retired flavors. It “started with 16 flavors carefully selected from the many consumer demands the company receives, the company said.

Fans voted for the flavor in a bracket-style tournament, ranging from the last two flavors, Groom’s Cake vs. Cookie Cake.

The groom’s cake is back!

“We look forward to seeing the groom’s cake return to the store this year,” said Kelly Remmart, Bluebell Marketing Communications Manager in a news release. “It’s always difficult to say goodbye to the flavor of your beloved ice cream. It’s always fun to be able to talk to fans in person. We’ll be holding another flavor tournament in the future.

The company introduced the groom’s cake flavor in 2009. The flavor combines blue bell milk chocolate ice cream and chocolate cake pieces with chocolate coated strawberry hearts, surrounded by swirls of strawberry sauce and chocolate icing.

“In a limited time, groom’s cakes will be sold in pints and half-gallon sizes,” according to Blue Bell.

Blue Bell will also release the runner-up flavour

Plus, due to an overwhelming response from cookie cake fans, Bluebell also released its runner-up taste later this month. The flavor pairs a chocolate chip cookie cake piece with a swirl of chocolate and vanilla icing and sweet cream ice cream. It is also available in pint and half gallon sizes.

“Our fans are so passionate about Bluebell ice cream, the competition was fierce,” Lenmart said in a news release. “We’re happy to be able to regain our favourite flavors, not one.”
