Peyton Manning, Pat McAfee, NFL World React

Longtime Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Ilsai has passed away at the age of 65, the team said in a statement Wednesday.

“We are devastating to announce our beloved owner and CEO, Jim Ilsai.

“In addition to Jim’s generosity, commitment to the community and, most importantly, his love for his family, his dedication and passion for the Indianapolis Colts were not surprised. Our deepest sympathy will ensure that Carly Ilsai Gordon, Casey Foyt, Kaylen Jackson and all of his family will grieve them.”

Irsay was 12 years old when his father, Robert Irsay, bought Baltimore Colts in 1972. Jim Irsay took on a variety of roles throughout the organization before becoming the team’s vice president and general manager in 1984.

Irsay took on the daily management of the Colts in 1995 after his father suffered a stroke. He went on to oversee one of the most successful periods in the history of the franchise. This began when the team selected Hall of Fame quarterback Payton Manning, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft.

Irsay was deeply involved in the Indianapolis community, as the team said in a statement.

“The generosity of the gym can be felt in Indianapolis, Indiana and across the country,” the team wrote. “He made charity a daily endeavor. He didn’t hesitate to help countless organizations and individuals lead a better life. Music was one of Jim’s passions, and his ability to share his bands with millions of people around the world has brought him tremendous joy. A unique spirit.”

Many from around the NFL world paid tribute to Arsay after his death, including Peyton Manning. Below are some of the most notable tributes to the late Colts owners.

Payton Manning responds to Jim Ilsai’s death

Pat McAfee responds to Jim Ilsai’s death

Former Colts Punter McAfee shared a lengthy message on social media.

“This is devastating. Jim had friendships with many of his former players. I was lucky enough to be one of them.

“It was an honor to play for the team that Irsay ran for. He was interesting, brilliant, unique and somehow very relevant to the man who became the sole owner of the NFL team at the age of 37.

“He fought his demons, and as we all do, God blessed Jim Ilsai with rich compassion.

“After the lockout in 2011, he and I actually attended training camp, where players and front office were not allowed to communicate with each other during lockout, but Jim followed me on Twitter during CBA negotiations. On his first day at training camp, right after the lockout ended, he won a golf cart. World .. He appreciated being able to share some of his thoughts in his own way.

“He was a big fan of the brains of a creative artist. Everything he did was all he wanted to do in a big, imaginative way. His Twitter giveaway was just that.

“People who meet him will say that it looks like he’s woken up every day so he wants to help people.

“Truly anomaly.

“When I decided to retire, he and I had a 2.5 hour conversation in his office. He was sitting at his desk.

“He tried to stop me for a few minutes. Even offered to renegotiate my contract, and after he realized my decision had been made, the combo tried to give him as many games as possible about running the business and maintaining authenticity.

“If for some reason this doesn’t work or you don’t want to do it anymore, you’re always working with the Colts. You’re a family.”

“Since that day… Jim did everything he could to help me succeed. He attended our show wherever I was in the world, whenever I asked.

“Jim was real, and we all missed (the crap) from him.

“I send my positive prayers and atmosphere to his daughters, his grandchildren, his loved ones, his staff and everyone who has worked with Jim for the past 40 years.

“Thank you to all the big names. You were a damn legend. Relax, brother.”

Is the Trump Tax Bill back on track? GOP Leadership announces the long-awaited update

0

play

WASHINGTON – Republican Holdout appears to have signed a contract with House GOP leadership to advance President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax policy bill.

The Act will be tweaked to increase the implementation of Medicaid work requirements from 2029 to December 2026. It cuts off many green energy tax credits for projects that began 60 days after the bill passed. Change the name of your new savings account from your MAGA account to your TRUMP account. According to an amendment released late May 21, it will increase the state and local tax credit caps for people under $500,000 a year to $40,000.

“I think all of our colleagues here will really like the final product. I think we’re going to move forward,” House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters Wednesday evening before the changes were released.

In addition to some outstanding policy demands, there are demands that Republicans have been discussing at the meeting for several days. Republicans introduced the amendments and passed the main committee before 11pm, but Democrats protested that they had no opportunity to consider the deal.

“We don’t know the impact of the changes being changed,” said Rep. Jim McGovern of D-Massachusetts, who attended a meeting to discuss the law for about 20 hours before the changes were introduced.

Lawmakers are expected to vote for the bill immediately tonight or tomorrow morning. They only lose three Republican votes, but still cross the finish line. The bill will then be reviewed by the Senate before going to the president’s desk.

The amendment includes others seeking to roll back Biden-era green energy subsidies, including blue National Republicans seeking higher state and local tax credits, after several negotiations between House Republican leaders and several factions of the conference, where ultra-conservative members of the House Free Caucus are seeking deeper cuts.

However, it is not clear that there are enough votes to pass the law. Some lawmakers say they are not satisfied with the change. For example, R-New York’s Rep. Andrew Garbarino told reporters he was “not satisfied” with the changes to the Green Energy Tax Credit.

The lawmakers went to the White House in the afternoon on May 21, where Trump urged lawmakers to get on the plan. The Administration issued a statement saying, “Don’t pass this bill would be the ultimate betrayal.”

‘A good test’ – Lotte Kopecky begins pursuit of Tour de France Femmes title at Vuelta a Burgos

0

Excelling in the Classics again may have been the focus for Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx-Protime) in the early part of the 2025 season but the work toward the world champion’s Tour de France Femmes aspirations is now taking centre-stage, beginning at Vuelta a Burgos Feminas on Thursday.

Up until this year, 2023 winner Demi Vollering has been the main overall card for SD Worx-Protime at the French Grand Tour but, with the Dutch now at FDJ-Suez, Kopecky is dedicating her attention toward recapturing another of cycling’s top prizes, the yellow jersey, for her team. The versatile rider has already come second at the race, in 2023, and also clinched the runner-up spot at the Giro d’Italia Women in 2024 to prove her climbing credentials, but the varied terrain of the four-stage Vuelta a Burgos from May 22 to 25 will be her first stage-race of this season and first real test of how she is this year progressing toward her mid-season goal.

“I am very eager to race again,” Kopecky, who last pinned on a number at Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes nearly a month ago, said in a team statement. “I finished the spring with a relatively positive and fresh feeling. That fresh feeling was because I haven’t raced as much this season.

The prosecutor will request 20 people just in case

Phoenix – The Arizona Attorney General’s Office has announced the indictment of 20 people, including a church pastor.

The indictment is the latest in a series of cases alleging ramp-delayed fraud against Arizona’s healthcare cost containment system, most of which did not provide alcohol and drug rehabilitation services. Arizona Attorney General Chris Mays held a press conference in May 2023, months after taking office, and announced a widespread fraud called “a stunning government failure.”

The cost to taxpayers is $2.5 billion.

Since then, more than 100 individuals and businesses have faced charges in 14 cases, the office told the Republic of Arizona, part of the USA Today Network, in April. The scheme involves patients who are primarily registered in the American Indian Health Plan and is designed to serve Native Americans who may live in areas far from doctors and clinics. It was purposefully created with little surveillance and scrutiny that could delay care.

Authorities said fraudsters have exploited these loopholes and are flooded with the system with fraudulent claims against hundreds of hours of rehabilitation services that were not provided. Authorities said patients sometimes live in nursing homes to keep alcohol and drugs in care home.

This latest case has named 17 people and two entities. One of them is the church. The large ju trial indicted three other people, but their identities were not announced in the indictment.

Most of the people appointed in the indictment were arrested on May 20th. Additional arrests were scheduled for May 21st and May 27th.

Indictment: The fraudulent claims filed were for those who died and were incarcerated.

The indictment appointed two men as masterminds of the comprehensive plot: Lusing Iswa of Desire and Fabrice Mvieculée, and the two together with a business called Happy House Bee Review Health. The scheme began in August 2022 and continued until January 2024, the indictment said.

As part of that scheme, Rusingizwa and Mvuyekure filed fraudulent claims of more than $60 million with AHCCCS through Happy House from August 2022 to July 2023, according to the charges. AHCCCS suspended operations in July 2023, agency records show.

According to the charges, some of the fraudulent allegations filed by Happy House were for people in death, incarcerated or hospitals.

Rusingizwa’s lawyer, Shaheen P. Torgoley, said in an email that Happy House provided legitimate rehabilitation services. “Mr. Rusingizwa is a man of a respectable family with no criminal history,” his lawyer wrote. “He looks forward to opposing these allegations before the court.

The indictment also listed Theodore Mukrana, pastor of hope for the International Church of Life. Court records show that Happy House started on land rented out from the church. The indictment, along with the church, accused Muturanyana of money laundering.

According to the indictment, Happy House Behavioral Health moved more than $5 million to the church after receiving a letter from an Arizona official saying it was under investigation for fraud.

Mucuranyana did not reply to a phone message seeking comment.

His attorney, Joshua Colsrude, emailed a statement accusing the Attorney General’s office of failing to detect a $60 million payment within a year. “Instead of addressing this failure in regulations, the prosecutor will distract liability by pursuing unfounded accusations against non-acrificed parties,” the statement said.

Kolsrud said Macuranyana is “a respected community leader with no criminal history.”

Church lawyer Julia Colslude said the church was not merely working as a landlord, but had no insight into how the tenants work inside.

The Republic left a phone message and sent an email to the lawyers listed for the defendant in the case. They didn’t respond immediately.

The money fraudulently acquired from the AHCCCS was used to pay to accommodate patients to operators of so-called “soft living houses,” the indictment said. Other individuals named in the indictment were accused of conspiring with Happy House to get paid to provide the housing.

By law, plain living homes were not designed to be paid out of AHCCCS funds. Those living there were to work on their salary and pay for the housing.

$5 million check. High-quality jewelry. Handbag.

The indictment listed 11 companies that prosecutors said they had participated in the assault plan, along with certain transactions that authorities constituted money laundering.

One was a check in July 2023, $2.8 million issued to Mvueykure, the indictment said.

Another woman listed in the business records as one of Happy House principals, received the same amount of check on the same day, the accusation said. The person was not listed on the charges.

Happy House wrote two checks for the Hope of Life Church in the summer of 2023. One wrote $500,000 in June and $5 million in July. In August 2023, more than $900,000 was transferred from the church to pay the property. According to documents submitted to the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office, the Hope of Life Church was listed as a buyer.

Online real estate sites show addresses listed in the prosecution as matching the five-acre vacant parcel, which the listed agent describes as “the best place to build a dream home.”

According to the accusations, in December 2023, Life of Life International Church wired $2 million to an unnamed organization in Rwandan.

Submissions in related cases attempting to seize the property said investigators searched the homes of Mvuyekure and Rusingizwa in Peoria in June 2024. Court records show that court records are gorgeous jewelry, watches and handbags.

According to the indictment, the large ju trial indicted individuals and businesses on April 21st.

Violet Affleck recalls arguing with Jennifer Garner during La Fires

0

Discussing with parents is not a new territory for adolescence. But for Violet Affleck, things were a little more complicated.

Affleck, daughter of award-winning actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, looked back on her tense interaction with Garner during a Los Angeles wildfire earlier this year in an essay on May 18th.

“I spent my time in Los Angeles discussing the January fire with my mother in a hotel room,” writes 19-year-old Affleck. “She was surprised by the scale of the destruction of the neighborhood, where she raised herself and my brother.”

A series of 14 wildfires, partially caused by the winds of Hurricane Force Santa Ana, devastated the Southern California area in January, causing tens of thousands of acres of extensive property damage, mass evacuation and burning. Many celebrities, including Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton and Milo Benchmilia, were lost to the devastated flames.

“I was surprised by her surprise. As a lifelong Angelana and a literary member of Generation Z’s climate, my question wasn’t whether Pallisard would burn; when“Affleck continued.” But when we chatted with adults at a hotel we went to escape the smoke, I discovered that my position was unusual. Odd numbers There was an overall situation. ”

Two of the largest two Pallisards and Eton fires in California wiped out the Pallisard and Altadena regions of the Pacific Ocean, killing at least 29 people and burning 37,000 acres (over 57.8 square miles). According to Cal Fire, the fire, which was fully contained in early February, ranks as the second and third most destructive wildfire in California history.

Garner previously said she had lived in the Pacific Palisades area for 25 years. Although her home was not destroyed, the actress revealed in an interview on January 10th that one of her friends had died in a wildfire. Garner’s family church was also burned out in flames.

“I feel almost guilty when I walk around my house,” Garner told MSNBC’s Katie Tar. “You know, what can I do? How can I help? What can I offer? What should I offer with these hands and these walls and the safety I have?”

Violet Affleck supports public health measures

Affleck has previously spoken out about public health. In July 2024, she made comments on Covid-19 pandemic precautions in the Public Comments section of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Meeting.

In her May 18 essay, Affleck compared the “bewildered” public response to the LA wildfires to that of the community pandemic.

“Climate disasters cannot be prevented or mitigated as easily as airborne disease transmission. However, experiences with chronic diseases are also relevant here,” writes Affleck, citing the active health strategies of individuals with long covids as a possible model.

“Just as people with a collaborative consciousness and disabilities celebrate each broken contagion chain, climate scientists recognize that each degree of warming we avoid is a victory.”

Growing up men wish good night with new tiktok trends

0

“Thank you so much, I’m grateful for that,” replies one friend. “I don’t remember someone saying good night the last time.”

play

When was the last time you called a friend, not to finalize plans or final plans, but to convey sweet dreams to them?

The new Tiktok trend encourages men to call friends before going to bed to tell them a good night, and the internet loves content from the heart. The majority of the video is filmed by a wife, fiance, or girlfriend.

In a video posted by Tiktok couple Shae & Chris, Christopher Taylor draws mostly the confusion from friends on the other side of the line.

“Man, I just called, man, good night,” Taylor said, restraining her laugh.

“What did you do, mate?” his friend replies as Taylor laughs quietly in the background. “Say it again. Repeat that. What’s wrong with your guy?” By the end of the video, the two are laughing together. As of May 21st, the video has recorded over 657,000 views on Tiktok.

Trends spark dialogue about the importance of male friendship

Apart from some snickers, most videos have a common thread. At least one friend has made sure the caller is OK.

In a video posted by Tiktok user Kassadi Lavrinovich, who has had 2.5 million viewers as of May 21, her husband Mikhail Lavrinovich called out some of his friends to get a good night. Most of the reactions included some laughs, but others tug at the heart.

“Are you kidding?” asks one of Mikhail’s friends with a laugh. “Thank you, I appreciate it. I don’t remember someone telling me good night.”

Whether this tendency intentionally meant to stir up a dialogue about the importance of male friendship.

Ronald Levant, professor of psychology at the University of Akron, told USA Today that calling for men to check in as men is not part of a socialized norm. Contrary to the ideals of men taught by boys in their grades, the author of The Tough Standard: The Hard Truths on Musculing and Violence said.

“In fact, I think we’re giving up a lot of comfort and health because we’re less connected to people,” Levant said.

This trend may be seen as a joke by many, but it also serves as a reminder to men about the importance of reassessing ideals that may not be best served. The Levant has been open to encouraging men to take this time to think about the masculine ideology taught at a younger age, and to express their vulnerability more seriously.

“How some guys (for example) say, ‘Yeah, it started out as a spoofing, but let’s see where we go with it,” and they’re happy to be amazed at how they feel they’re worried about checking in with friends or worrying about you,” Levant said.

Why the Middle East is a hot place for global technology investment

0

The Middle East is attracting more attention from global tech investors than ever before. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar have launched billions of dollars in transactions, working with top US companies to build the infrastructure needed to run large-scale AI systems.

It’s not just money. There are new laws, startup activities, and plans for growth in Silicon Valley and beyond.

Strategic deals lock down US technology relations

US President Donald Trump recently visited the area and announced an investment deal worth more than $2 trillion. These included major partnerships between the Gulf countries and American companies in artificial intelligence, cloud services and defense technology.

The UAE said it will build one of the world’s largest AI campuses in Abu Dhabi. At the same time, Saudi Arabia launched an AI company called Humain. The company, backed by public investment funds, has set up a deal with NVIDIA and AMD, bringing in thousands of chips for local use. The idea is to operate and train AI models within the Kingdom and reduce the need to rely on overseas services.

These transactions are not one-off events. They point to a deeper relationship between Gulf companies and high-tech US companies. Gulf leaders want to localize AI development, but US companies see the region as a growing market for cloud, data and chips. This growing alignment offers advantages on both sides of a global race where speed and access are important.

Gulf state expands its AI infrastructure

AI systems require strong computing power. This means data centers, chips and networks that can handle certain heavy demands. Countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates spend money behind this need.

Saudi Arabian human beings are planning to deploy more than 18,000 Nvidia chips. This is some of the most advanced in the market. These power training clusters that allow researchers and businesses to build new models from home. The UAE is expanding its local data capacity through partnerships with Amazon and Openai. One campus in Abu Dhabi includes a large AI lab and a supercomputer.

Running powerful AI models near your home offers more than speed. Helps in data control, reduces costs and reduces latency. Governments in the region recognize that long-term management of AI infrastructure will play a major role in future national development and influence.

These projects are part of the national technology strategies of each country. The Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 includes technology within its core field. The UAE’s AI strategy aims to become one of the top AI-Ready countries in the next five years.

Startups are gaining momentum

Investment doesn’t just flow into large infrastructure. In April 2025, MENA startup raised $228.4 million. That’s more than twice what they grew in March. FinTech and B2B platforms lead the price.

Cairo-based investment platform THNDR has raised $15.7 million to expand to Saudi Arabia and the UAE. These countries are expanding their bases for retail investors and are looking for tools that will make trading and saving more accessible.

The young, tech-savvy population and high mobile use of the Gulf make it an ideal testbed for startups. At the same time, government-supported funds are investing in early stage businesses to help expand local talent and reduce their reliance on import services.

The government is also creating a more startup-friendly zone. The free economic zone of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia’s planned innovation hub offer tax benefits and simplified licenses for technology ventures. Investors say regulatory support is improving and founders now have a clearer path to launching and scaling.

Cloud and data center expansion collects pace

Demand for cloud services is growing in the Middle East. Smart City Projects, e-government platforms, and AI applications promote the need for secure local data storage and processing.

Oracle has pledged $14 billion to expand its cloud footprint in Saudi Arabia. Google, AWS, and Microsoft are also investing in local data hubs. These centres will support everything from banks to logistics.

Building cloud services is key to keeping your data local and speeding up your online services. It also reduces costs for local businesses, and does not have to rely on foreign servers. The result is a growing high-tech sector with tools to serve customers in real-time.

Large-scale data manipulation opens the doors of more local SaaS companies. Cloud capacity allows local developers to create enterprise tools, AI services, and e-commerce platforms tailored to their local needs.

Policy reform promotes diversification

Behind these technology movements are policy changes. The government is reducing deficits, relaxing foreign ownership rules, and providing tax cuts to high-tech investors. The aim is to reduce the local oil dependence and build a broader economic foundation.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 includes goals for digital infrastructure, education and innovation. The UAE’s AI strategy is linked to driving it to attract top researchers and engineers. These aren’t just paper plans. They are consistent with funding, law and global partnerships.

Cultural changes are also ongoing. Technology is taught in schools, and the university has launched programs focused on AI. This will help build a future workforce that can support local businesses and attract international businesses.

More investors are focusing on the predictability and speed of doing business. This is especially important for high-tech startups that need fast feedback and steady support for growth. If the rules are clear and approvals are quick, the company is more likely to stay.

Balance of growth and geopolitical interest

More tech investments are attracting more attention. The US sees the region as a way to increase the global technological influence, particularly as relations with China remain tense. For Middle Eastern countries, working with US companies provides know-how and supply chain access that takes years from scratch.

At the same time, there are concerns about who controls the technology, whether the data is stored, and how it will be used. Some countries are promoting data rules that support local storage. Others want to develop their own large-scale language models and retain training data within national borders.

Some local leaders are beginning to talk more openly about digital independence. Yes, they don’t just want to be buyers, they’re builders. That means investing in chips, software and talent that can support homegrown technology. A few years ago, it seemed far away. Now, with the right backing, it’s beginning to appear within reach.

Navigating these issues will form the next stage of technological growth in the Middle East. The government not only wants to move quickly, but also wants to maintain control over key parts of the digital economy.

The Middle East’s role in global technology is changing. It’s no longer just a market for new gadgets and services. It is becoming a center for infrastructure, AI training, startup growth and cloud services. Countries in this region are investing with clear goals. It’s building long-term strength in the sectors that shape the way business, education, and even government work over the years.

If the current trend continues, the Middle East will not only receive technology. It helps to shape it.

Baby swing sold on Amazon reminded me of choking concerns

Specific baby variations were recalled by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) after saying the product poses a risk of choking.

On release from the committee, consumers are warned to immediately stop using Quailick’s infant swings, as they pose a significant risk to infants. The release said it was sold on Amazon between October 2023 and November 2024 and sold for $100 to $220 as the model “WS-HB18.”

CPSC says consumers should immediately stop using swings and dispose of them. As of May 21, no injuries have been reported in connection with these swings.

“Please do not sell or give away these dangerous infant shakes,” the committee said.

CPSC says Swings violated federal rules

According to the committee, the swing was sold to help infants sleep at angles above 10 degrees.

Apart from these violations, the CPSC states that the swing does not meet the mandatory warning requirements necessary to notify parents of the risk of infant death or serious injury.

According to the release, the violation continues. The CPSC states that the infant is swinging, which violates “mandatory federal regulations on consumer products, including button cells and coin batteries.”

I’m confident about Trump’s tax bill, but the vote is still uncertain

0

play

WASHINGTON – House Republican leaders are back from an optimistic White House meeting that they could possibly vote tonight on President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax and policy package.

But that could be a hopeful way of thinking about Trump’s second term’s most important laws. There, the competing GOP factions make it difficult for the Presidential Party to find the majority of the votes. Several House GOP lawmakers said on May 21 that a group of financially conservative members would not yet support the package as they promote continued spending cuts.

“I think we’re in a very good place. I think all of our colleagues here will really like this final product. I think we’re going to move forward,” R-Louisiana speaker Mike Johnson told reporters when he returned to the U.S. Capitol from a conference at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Republican leaders are expected to present some minor changes to the House bill on the evening of May 21, and then they will decide whether to vote late tonight or tomorrow morning, Johnson said.

The speaker did not say that it was agreed or that members of the Ultra Conservative House Freedom Council were currently on board after raising concerns about the law earlier in the day.

“I think we can resolve their concerns,” Johnson said.

Even Republicans who had raised concerns before were raising them as Trump’s White House tried to mediate the final deal.

“Rising the salt deduction is a relief for the Democratic governor. It is paid by the low-tax red state,” R-Tennessee Rep. John Rose wrote to X.

This is a reference to a tentative agreement to raise state and local tax credit caps to get a group of Republicans from Blue State on board, showing how each new concession will cause problems for another part of the meeting.

With Trump and Johnson’s positive signs, some members of the Free Caucus brought to the White House looked more positive afterwards.

R-Maryland’s Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris said the meeting “good” and the group “has made some progress.” Rep. Clay Higgins R-Louisiana said the group felt “very positive” about the direction of negotiations.

Lawmakers are looking to extend tax cuts, implement new tax cuts for tips and overtime, put more money into border security and defense, and add new restrictions that will benefit programs like Medicaid and food stamps.

The law also includes a $4 trillion debt cap increase. This is an important provision that must be passed before August to avoid potentially catastrophic defaults in national debt.

NY wins a game one halftime lead in the Eastern Final

0

play

The rivalry will be updated in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks fight for a trip to the NBA Finals and begin the series in Game 1 at Madison Square Garden. Both teams had to beat tough teams in the second round of the 2025 NBA playoffs to reach the penultimate round of the postseason. Indiana knocked down the top seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in five games, while New York rejected repeated bids from the Boston Celtics by defeating the defending champion in six games.

From Reggie Miller to Spike Lee, the rivalry has brewed many iconic moments in playoff history, and we hope there will be more unforgettable memories when the Knicks and Pacer meet in the postseason.

Follow USA Today Sports for all the highlights of Pacer vs. Knicks Game 1 from Madison Square Garden.

NEW YORK – The Indiana Pacers managed to barely miss out in the first quarter. The second was a different story – at least at the beginning.

The frame after shooting 73.7% from the floor, the pacer cooled quite a bit. An air ball 3 seconds, a smoke layup and a wide open dunk attempt by Obitoppin (a player known to rattle dunks at home with power) has even bumped into him from the back of the rim. Indiana started a game where they tried to make their first nine shot attempt, followed by making nine of nine out of 24.

This allowed the Knicks to score a 13-1 run in the middle of the quarter, building a seven-point lead heading towards halftime 69-62.

New York is not escaping the game’s fast tempo. This is like the strength of the pacer. The Knicks were also seeking a race out during the transition to post quick shot attempts. Another area where the Knicks outweigh the Pacers is on top of the glass, where New York has a 35-29 advantage.

With All-Star Point Guard Tyrees Halliburton scored the team’s final 10 points, the Pacers will fix it later in the period to stop the bleeding.

Jalen Brunson (18 points), Karl-Anthony Towns (15) and Mikal Bridges (12) lead the way to the Knicks.

The stars are like us They get a star track too.

TNT commentator Kenny Smith looked inside to fans about how players feel competing in front of a star-studded crowd, particularly at Madison Square Garden in New York and Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

“You can’t look left. You can’t look right. You can’t look at the right. New York – The Eastern Conference Finals began with a surge.

The Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks washed away shots at ferocious speeds in the first quarter, with both teams combining 29-42 (69.0%) from the field. However, with a 13-5 run to close the quarter, the Knicks are taking a two-point lead to 36-34 in the second quarter.

Indiana made each of their first nine field goal attempts, and by the time they connected to the first seven, all five starters scored.

The Pacers shot an outrageous 73.7% from the first field. Center Miles Turner hit all five attempts and led by 11 points.

The Knicks were led by Jalen Brunson (9 points) and Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges.

They didn’t face each other in the NBA playoffs until 1993, but the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers soon became acquainted with each other.

The two franchises played six memorable playoff series against each other during eight seasons, including their second matchup in the 1999 and 2000 Eastern Conference Finals.

A quarter century later, we’ll be back at the NBA Finals spot, with the Knicks vs. Pacers. The two teams will be given a new life with the rise of the Knicks under Jaren Branson and the rise of the Pacers against Tillys Halibton in the last two seasons, starting the Best of Seven Series in Game 1 at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, rekindling one of the league’s great rivals of the 1990s, and with the rise of the Knicks under Jaren Branson and the Pacers’ rise with Tillys Halibton in the last two seasons. In many ways, the Eastern Conference Finals is a contrasting style of battle.

The Indiana Pacers love to speed up the game, but the New York Knicks tend to play on purpose. This series is determined by the team that determines its style.

The stakes are high. If the Pacers win the series, they have a chance to make their first trip to the NBA Finals since 2000 and win the first Larry O’Brien Trophy. Meanwhile, New York will appear in its first NBA Finals since 1999 and have a chance to win its first title since 1973. Read Lorenzo Reyes’ analysis here.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon x joins action with the new “Mission: Impossible”

0

play

  • Stellantis and Paramount Pictures put together a joint advertising campaign to place the Jeep vehicle in the final film of the action film franchise, “Mission: Impossible.”
  • Tom Cruise character Ethan Hunt is behind the handle of a Jeep Wrangler 4xe.
  • In addition to product placement, Jeep and Paramount run 30-second ads promoting not only the movie but also the vehicle.

In the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, Tom Cruise is behind the steering wheels of various vehicles (or slipping down or hanging over). This summer, Cruise drives a jeep as his creepy character, Ethan Hunt.

The final article in the film franchise, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” partners with Jeep in a joint advertising campaign that includes the placement of film products.

The film, which will be released in theaters on May 23, will feature Tom Cruise behind the wheels of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Stellantis said. Along with the Jeep cars featured in the film, Stellantis and Paramount Pictures also run 30-second ads to promote both the car and the movie.

The ads will run on television and social media networks, including broadcasting baseball, basketball and golf, Stellantis said in a statement.

“Our mission, and we chose to embrace it, was to work with the Jeep team on a partnership campaign that included shared doctrines from both brands: a partnership campaign that included Pulse Pond action adventure and authentic enjoyment.”

In a commercial promoting the Jeep brand and movie, Jeep buyers fall from the ceiling of the wire above the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X. The ad will be cut into scenes from upcoming films where Cruise drifts and flips the Wrangler over.

How effective is the product placement?

Ayala Ruvio, dean of Michigan State’s wide-ranging business schools and marketing professor, said the Jeep’s combination of brand aesthetics and action-packed films is perfect.

“The Jeep’s target market is a very specific target market. Jeep drivers are very loyal to the car. They see themselves in a very specific way: off-road racers, the adventurous type of people,” Ruvio said. “And putting a Jeep in this particular film only strengthens that awareness and its community.”

Ruvio said that the placement of film products could go a long way to help the brand if the brand is done right.

“How effective is it if the product is placed correctly? It’s very effective,” Ruvio said. “So if you think of Marilyn Monroe as ‘Diamonds is a girl’s best friend’, then with that film and its song, she basically changed the diamond industry for generations. ”

The correlation between the Jeep brand and “Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation” may not be as strong as Monroe’s Diamond, but Ruvio said it can highlight Jeep’s position as a rebellious, action-focused automaker.

“People don’t come to the movies just to see Jeeps on screen, right? And people won’t buy Jeeps because of the movie,” Ruvio said. “But it’s the combination that makes a difference for a brand.”

The Army will pay if the tank damages the road on June 14, officials say

0

play

The Army will be hooked for damages caused by a massive tank rolling the streets of Washington, DC, on the Big 250 Army birthday on June 14th, scheduled for the same day as President Donald Trump’s birthday.

The parade will roll dozens of giant military vehicles, including two armored ground combat vehicles, 28 tanks and 28 Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Strikers, 28 Tanks, 28 Bradley Fighting Vehicles and 28 Bradley Fighting Vehicles and 28 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, according to the latest figures shared with reporters at the May 21 briefing.

The Army “doesn’t expect any damage” to roads in the country’s capital, said Colonel Jess Curry, executive officer of the Army Corps of Engineers.

However, if damage occurs, the military will take responsibility, said Colonel Cris Vitale, the officer responsible for this week’s celebration.

The Army plans to lay a huge metal plate, at least one inch thick, on top of the spots of the parade route where the tanks spin. According to Curry, straight segments of the route running along Constitutional Street, passing the Washington Memorial, are not protected.

Asked about last month’s parade, Washington mayor Muriel Bowser said rolling military tanks down the city’s streets “will not be good,” and said the military should pick up the tabs for the damages that have been incurred.

“We’re not going to have a good military tank on the street,” she said at a press conference on April 7. “If military tanks are used, they should be accompanied by millions of dollars to repair the road.”

Trump was accused of politicizing the military through the parade

Trump’s role in the parade and its plan sparked debate in Washington, with Democrats and Trump critics calling it an inappropriate politicization of the military.

The White House said the parade was an Army anniversary celebration, marking Trump’s birthday falling on the same day as a coincidence.

In his first term, Trump repeatedly and failed, but urged the Pentagon to frame a military parade.

The June parade will be everything he pushed at the time – about 6,700 soldiers will take part, with the initial estimate of the crowd being 200,000, Army officials said on May 21.

The parade also includes historic fighter jets and at least 50 helicopter overpasses, as previously reported by USA Today.

The Golden Knights, an Army parachute team, soars from the sky and presents a folded American flag on a Trump. From his presidential booth, Trump will preside over the enlistment and re-enlistment of 250 soldiers.

Gunman kills the top aide of Mexico City mayor

0

CNN

The Mayor of Mexico City’s private secretary and advisor was shot on Tuesday in an attack in the Mexican capital.

Mexico City Major Clara Bulgada said Ximena Guzmán and José Muñoz had died “in direct attacks” in modern-day neighborhoods.

Bulgada, as mayor of Mexico City, holds the country’s second-strongest political office, after President Claudia Sheinbaum. Brugada and Sheinbaum are allies of the Morena Party.

The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office said the attack occurred when the vehicle was intercepted on the way to work.

Authorities are analyzing security camera videos circulating on social media that allegedly captured the moment Guzman and Munoz were filmed.

It shows a man approaching a parked car and entering, and another man in a helmet stood on the road and fired in his car. The attacker then escapes the scene.

CNN contacted the Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Security and Civil Protection to see if the video would respond to the attack that took place on Tuesday. They replied that it was under investigation.

The attack took place between Calzada de Trapan and Napoleon Street.

Authorities said Wednesday that they identified at least four people they allegedly took part in the attack.

“Given the dynamics of the event, it is concluded that it was a direct, highly planned attack and that anyone who carried it had previous experience,” prosecutor Bertha Alcalde Luján said at a press conference Wednesday.

Alkarde said the motives for the attack are still under investigation and nothing is ruled out.

According to a joint bulletin from the Civil Security Secretariat and the Attorney General, authorities seized motorcycles and vehicles in the Izutacalco district near the scene, which could possibly be linked to the incident.

Bulgada said her government was “deeply saddened” by the loss of her colleagues, describing Guzman as a wonderful and kind woman, and Munoz said she was one of the smartest people she’d ever met.

Sinbaum expressed his sadness to the two officials’ loved ones at a press conference Tuesday morning and offered her support for the investigation.

“We will reach the bottom of this situation and ensure that justice is provided,” Sinbaum said.

The president said that both Guzman and Munoz “were worked in our movement (Morena Party) for a long time. We know them.”

In Mexico, attacks on politicians are common.

Last year, the country saw record numbers of victims from political violence, and human rights group Datavika reported 661 attacks on people and facilities. Many of the victims either held or were running at the local government level position.

In May 2024, a mayoral candidate was killed at a campaign stop in southern Guerrero.

A few days later, Mayor Kotilla of Michoacan was shot dead while walking home from the gym with his bodyguard.

In October, Mayor of Guerrero’s capital, Chilpanche, was killed less than a week after taking office.

Earlier this month, the mayoral candidate for Veracruz was shot along with three others during a live broadcast of the campaign rally.

Fix: Previous versions of this story incorrectly reported how many shooters were involved. Authorities say there was one gunman.

Which companies can raise the prices of customs duties?

0

play

With multiple well-known stores sharing quarterly revenue, it was a key stretch to measure how some of the nation’s biggest retailers managing the rise in import duties on President Donald Trump.

The retailer responsible for several shopping destinations in the United States is one of the companies’ choruses warning that prices could be rising due to the administration’s tariff hikes.

Walmart is the latest company to warn that choices can be costly soon, a social media post that has sparked rage from the president and tells the company not to hand over the rising costs to customers to “eat tariffs.”

Discount retailer comments come as consumer sentiment has dropped further this month and surges in inflation expectations over the past year. American households were worried about the economy as they signed their first contract in the first quarter of the year for the first time in three years, and were overwhelmed by import floods as businesses and retailers competed to preempt imminent tariffs. Some US companies either withdraw, cut, or withheld forecasts, citing the Trump administration’s yo-yo tariff policies as the reason behind the uncertainty.

This is what some of the nation’s largest and most well-known retailers said about the rise in prices due to tariffs.

Best Buy

In his latest revenue report released in early March, Best Buy CEO Corie Barry predicted prices for US consumers would rise before Trump’s escalated tariffs took hold in early April.

“Best Buy only imports directly from 2% to 3% of the overall assortment, but we expect vendors across our assortment to pass some tariff costs to retailers, and a rise in prices for American consumers said in a call on March 4th.

Best Buy’s next revenue call is set for May 29th.

Mattel

Mattel, the iconic Barbie manufacturer, said in its first quarter revenue report that in early May it plans to raise prices for American toys in direct response to the administration’s new trade policy.

“The company operates in an uncertain macroeconomic environment with significant volatility, including global trade policy and changes in US tariffs,” the May 5 report said.

In addition to Barbie, Mattel’s most recognised franchise brands include Hot Wheels, Fisher Price, American Girl, Thomas & Friends, UNO, Masters of the Universe, Matchbox, Monster High, Mega and Poly Pocket. According to Chief Financial Officer Anthony Disilvestro, it is an international brand, but about half of Mattel’s business is in the US.

Walmart

Despite exceeding first-quarter sales expectations, Walmart could quickly raise shopper prices due to increased tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, according to revenue calls.

Prices began to rise at the end of May, and certainly in June, Walmart’s chief financial officer, John David Rainey, said in an interview with CNBC.

target

Target cut its annual sales forecast on May 21, after reporting a sharp decline in quarterly sales, causing a drop in consumer confidence and a pullback of discretionary spending due to Trump’s tariff war.

According to Reuters, Target executives did not say whether to raise prices due to tariffs when asked by reporters.

Amazon said it would not list customs fees next to the product

Amazon reported revenue and revenue above forecasts on May 1st, but like other large retailers in recent weeks, it avoided providing guidance amidst tariff uncertainty.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in an appeal with investors that, according to CNBC, it made it difficult to predict how Trump’s Amage-Off-Again tariffs would affect Amazon’s business. Amazon’s third-party seller-based “diversity” means that some merchants “will not intend to hand over all or their duties to their customers.”

On April 29, Amazon denied reports that the White House plans to include tariff charges on its main retail website, which led it to smash online retailers and call founder Jeff Bezos to its president.

“The team that runs the very low-cost Amazon Haul Store was thinking about listing import fees for a particular product,” Amazon spokesperson Rachael Lighty said in a statement to USA Today. “This will never be approved and we will not be going to happen.”

Home Depot that keeps prices stable

One of the retailers planning to stabilize prices is Home Depot, the company said on May 21.

“We generally intend to maintain our current pricing levels across our portfolio,” Chief Financial Officer Richard McFile told CNBC, adding that the majority of the company’s products come from the US.

However, the chain said tariffs could make some products unavailable, Reuters reported.

Trump targets South African leaders in the latest oval office ambush

0

play

WASHINGTON – South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has brought in a 14-kilometer book from his country showing off two championship golfers and South Africa’s biggest golf course.

But even his best attempt to appeal to President Donald Trump’s golf fandom could not protect him from becoming the latest target for an oval office ambush.

At the May 21 meeting between Trump and Ramaphosa, it rivals only a memorable clash with Ukrainian President Voldy Mil Zelensky in February.

“I’m sorry, but there’s no plane to give you,” Ramaphosa munched after things got hot about 20 minutes after the meeting.

“I hope you did. I’ll take it,” Trump said. “If your country offers an airplane to the US Air Force, I’d take it.”

The background to hostility was the Trump administration’s recent decision to welcome white South Africans known as Africans as refugees to the United States when Trump halted resettlement of other refugees, commonly of color.

Trump has sympathy for white South Africans, a minority in South Africa. They say it is unfairly targeting new laws that allow South African governments to seize property in the “public interest.” Trump escalated the fight last week by claiming Africans are targets of “genocide” against white people. This is accusation rejected by the South African government and human rights experts, and is not supported by the evidence.

Violence has been a long-standing problem in South Africa. That includes violent attacks on white farmers. However, despite the high rates of murder in the country, the overwhelming majority of victims are black.

“Have they ever said where it is, or that it’s the president?”

Trump hit the opening to set up a pre-arranged video presentation when he asked what it would take to convince him that genocide was not happening in South Africa.

In the subsequent silence, Ramaphosa asked the question instead. “President Trump is listening to South Africans, some of which are good friends of him,” the South African leader said.

Trump then cited “thousands of stories talking about it,” and asked one of his White House aides to refuse the light. “I was able to show you a few things,” Trump said.

The video began to play on the screen that was moved to the oval office before the meeting. It featured footage of black South Africans asking their followers to occupy farmland, declaring “killing is part of the revolution,” and denounced the country’s “whites” and “whiteness.” (Members of Ramaphosa’s delegation later informed the room that Trump’s video featured two opposition leaders against the South African government that the current administration rejects.)

The video ended with footage of a white cross along the way Trump said it was a burial site for the murder of white South Africans who were killed for race. In reality, the cross was not an actual tomb, but a symbol used in protests by white farmers in South Africa.

“These are burial sites here. More than 1,000 white farmers,” Trump said the video had been played. “It’s a terrible sight. I’ve never seen anything like that.”

Ramaphosa, which negotiated with Nelson Mandela in the 90s, remained calm and calm throughout the meeting. He replied: “They’re in which it is, Mr. President? No? No? I’d like to know where this is, but I’ve never seen it.”

Elon Musk Watches Opfrontation expands

Elon Musk, the wealthiest man in the world, top Trump advisor and South African native, stood behind the sofa in an oval office with a reporter, quietly staring at him.

He was invited as an observer, but Trump brought him into conversation.

“Elon is from South Africa. I don’t want Elon to get involved. That’s all I have to do. “He actually came here to another theme: sending the rocket to Mars.

For decades, South Africa has been ruled under apartheid control by the country’s white minority, many of which were descendants of Dutch settlers. Apartheid, a legalized system of segregation, stripped the majority of its citizens from its fundamental rights and forced many black South Africans to live in ethnic Bantstan. It ended in 1994.

Ramaphosa and other defenders of the Land Erosion Act argue that policies are necessary to reverse the apartheid-era heritage of disparities in land ownership.

Although the apartheid rules ended long ago, a 2024 survey by researchers at the Institute of Africa and the University of Zambia shows that typical black South African households have only 5% of the wealth of typical white families.

“What you saw – the speeches that were being given – it’s not government policy,” Ramaphosa said he was still responding to the video clip highlighted by Trump. “In South Africa there is a multi-national democracy that allows people to express themselves. Political parties adhere to a variety of policies. In many cases, these policies are not in line with government policies.”

If the clash between Trump and Ramaphosa wasn’t enough, the meeting was even more tense when NBC News reporters rattled Trump asking about the Catarijet.

News have been broken that the Pentagon has officially accepted a gorgeous Boeing 747 jet from Qatar for use as an air force. It is considered to be the biggest foreign gift accepted by the president in US history, and Democrats argue that it is unconstitutional for Trump to take it.

“NBC is trying to take down the subject of what you just saw. You’re a terrible reporter,” Trump said. “This was a great thing to do to help NBC get into the subject of the gifts given to the US Air Force…”

Helps two professional golfers to simmer tension

The conversation traced back to South Africa’s racial dynamics and violence.

Ramaphosa sought help in providing South Africa with technology to identify where the shooting is taking place.

“We have the support we can get from you and the United States to help you deal with this aggressive crime,” he told Trump. “And that’s what I believe is partnerships are all about, and we are here as partners.

About 45 minutes after the meeting, Trump asked the famous South African golfer Ernie Else (one of the Ramaphosa guests) to say some words.

“This is more difficult than sinking a three-footer,” Trump said. He invited Els, the winner of four major golf championships, to speak.

Elles took his South African passport from the pocket of his jacket to show his pride in his country. But he said 35 years after the transition from racial sector policies under apartheid to a black-led government, supporters hope that the country will flourish.

“We want to see things get better in our country,” said Els, a white man. “I know there’s a lot of anger through the transition.”

Els said black leader Nelson Mandela had united the country by not promoting hatred. He said the business is involved in the government and shows greater coexistence between races.

“We feel that the US is needed to push through this,” Els said. “It’s very important that we have your support and get the changes we need.”

Trump praised his presentation.

“You did that well, boy,” Trump said after Els was finished. “He may have done even better than playing golf, which is almost impossible.”

Elles also helped cool the temperature, along with South African golfer Letty Fugousen, who spoke again before the press was escorted.

White Goosen also said his father was a land developer and farmer, and his brother continued to farm. “It’s a constant battle. They’re trying to burn the farm to drive you away,” he said. “Making a living as a farmer is a concern. Without farmers, there is no food on the plate.”

Goosen said the other farmers had been killed. His family lives behind an electric fence, but said that it doesn’t prevent his brother and mother from being attacked at their home.

“Difficult,” he said.

Trump expressed his sympathy.

“That’s not a way to live,” Trump said.

Tom Pidcock reached the half way point of the 2025 Giro d’Italia with mixed emotions. There was a sense of satisfaction and almost relief after he finished fourth in Castelnovo di Monti’ but also a desire for more, while acknowledging that stage hunting in Grand Tour is an arduous task.

The Q36.5 team leader now has three top-five results in 11 stages of racing. He was in the mix in the opening sprint in Tirana, third in Matera, again behind Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek), now fourth, just 10 seconds down on a rampant Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) on the first testing mountain stage.
