After winning the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Chelsea FC captain Reese James told the media he was surprised that President Donald Trump stayed on stage after he announced the trophy.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — President Donald Trump took part in the FIFA Club World Cup awards ceremony after Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain (3-0) in the final on Sunday.
He joined FIFA president Gianni Infantino on the pitch at MetLife Stadium, where fans auditioned before standing in the crowd and waving.
The president and first lady left the box suite at 5:27pm, according to a White House Pool report. Trump and Infantino walked to the pitch 15 minutes later, “We appeared on Jumbotron and were booed again. We also got applause, mouths and cheers. The music in the stadium owned the boo.”

Trump was second behind Infantino to congratulate the players and coaches after the game. He waved the player and patted the back while walking by him on stage. He was a young tournament winner, PSG’s Desire Doo, Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez the Golden Globe and Cole Palmer handed the golden ball for the match’s MVP. Palmer scored the first two of Chelsea’s three goals.
Trump then placed medals on every referee’s neck for the match. Fans were loudly turned to Booder when Trump and Infantino took a photo with the judge.
After the award presentation, Chelsea players gathered to accept the trophy and celebrate as a team. Trump stood with Chelsea players while waiting to raise the trophy. Infantino eventually pulled Trump behind the players so the team could celebrate.

After the ceremony, Trump was interviewed on a Dazn broadcast and asked who he thought of in football.
“When I was young many years ago, they brought a player named Pere to play and he played for a team called Cosmos,” Trump replied. “…and this place was packed in. It was an earlier version of this stadium, but here in Meadowland, it was Pele. I didn’t want to date myself, but that was a long time ago. I was a young man. I came to see Pele.
Speaking to reporters at Tarmac after the match, Trump said, “I think it was a bit upsetting, but it was a great, great match, it was a really well played and an incredible crowd.”

King Charles visited Canada amid a call from President Donald Trump that the United States should annex Canada.
Manchester, England — King Charles of England will host President Donald Trump for an unprecedented second state visit to England in September, Buckingham Palace said on Monday, July 14th.
“The king will host President Trump and Mrs Trump at Windsor Castle,” the palace said in a statement, adding that further details will be made soon. The visit will take place from September 17th to 19th.
Trump said last month that British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer agreed to meet Charles after handing him a handwritten letter from the monarch of his oval office. Trump will be the first modern-day elected political leader hosted for two state visits by British monarchs.
The late Queen Elizabeth welcomed Trump to Buckingham Palace for a three-day state visit while in office in June 2019. Meanwhile, he ate a private lunch with Sovereignty and had tea with his then heir Charles.
They will also meet in Scotland later this month, sources told Reuters last week that details, including specific dates, have yet to be finalized.
The two leaders have developed a warm relationship in recent months, signing a framework trade agreement on the bystanders of the G7 Conference, which officially lowered US tariffs on imports from the UK last month.
In May, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney criticized the UK’s invitation to Trump for a visit to the US, saying it undermined the government’s efforts to project the united front against the US president’s speech on the annexation of Canada.

PHOENIX – North Rim’s historic Grand Canyon Lodge was consumed by wildfires, Grand Canyon National Park officials said on July 13.
Two wildfires burning about 30 miles north of the Grand Canyon had grown to over 45,000 acres by July 13, according to state and federal firefighters. Opened in 1937, the lodge was about five and a half hours north of Metro Phoenix and was the only hotel in North Rim’s national park.
Park officials said the wildfires burned between 50 and 80 structures on the northern edge.
The inner canyon, including the Phantom Ranch, was closed, as was the path to the inner canyon as the water treatment facility on the north edge had been damaged by fire and leaked chlorine gas. Chlorine gas is toxic and heavier than air and can settle down at the lower part of the canyon.
Park officials said the gas leak prevented firefighters from falling, forcing firefighters to evacuate.
A vast area was placed under evacuation orders, with the Kaibab Plateau, from the Utah-Arizona Line to the Grand Canyon. Firefighters urged the public to avoid the area. Highway 89A was closed in Fredonia and Bitter Springs, while the north and south Kaibabu trails and the Bright Angel Trail under Havas Spy Garden were closed to hikers.
According to the National Park Service, the original North Rim Lodge was built for the Union Pacific Railway and quickly reestablished the cafeteria and recreation hall after the 1932 fire.
The new lodge sat on the former foundation and used many of the original materials, but according to the National Park Service, it was reduced in its design, removing the second story and observation deck, which were part of the original.
Architect Gilber Stanley Underwood followed National Park Services guidelines requiring that the buildings represent the environment. According to the National Park Service, the lodge was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

There are several other hotels nearby the main visitor hub in North Rim, at least far from the edge of the canyon. According to the National Park Service, a lodge building made of limestone facades was fed nearby, allowing giant Ponderosa pine trees to become support beams to hold a sloped roof that could support snow loading.
Aramark operated Grand Canyon Lodge. Aramark spokesman Debbie Albert has confirmed the loss of property.
“We are devastated by the loss of Grand Canyon Lodge and many other historic buildings in the North Rim of Grand Canyon,” Albert said. “We are grateful that all our employees and guests are safe evacuation and are participating in the National Park Service, lamenting the loss of these iconic and beloved structures.”
The property consisted of a main lodge building with 23 deluxe cabins and over 90 regular cabins. The original lodge, which opened in late September 1932, was burned out in September 1932 by a fire. The fire destroyed the lodge within minutes and fled the lodge staff in the early hours, according to the National Park Service.
Among the typical amenities at hotels was the lodge complex, which included saloons, delis, coffee shops, post offices, gift shops and visitor centres. They were all up and running before Wildfire closed North Rim to visitors, according to the National Park Service.
White Sage, Dragon Bravo Wild Fire burns on the north edge
The White Sage’s Fire to the north of the two fires burned 40,126 acres. Smoke was first reported on the evening of July 9th after a thunderstorm. According to Inciweb, the fire was caused by lightning and strengthened by strong winds and low relative humidity. According to BLM, it burned grass, shrubs and native pinion juniper trees.
The Dragon Bravo Fire, burning south within Grand Canyon National Park, has reached 5,000 acres, according to federal wildfire tracker Inciweb.
The Dragon Bravo Fire was responsible for burning the North Rim structure, including the historic lodge. According to Inciweb, hot, dry and windy conditions promote growth, and flames spread across pine forests of mixed coniferous trees, aspen and ponderosa.
Over 500 firefighters were assigned to the White Sage fire, and 70 were assigned to the Dragon Bravo Fire. Both fires remained 0% containment on the morning of July 13th.
Emergency services competed on Sunday at the scene of a small plane crash at London Southend Airport.
Details on where the plane was heading or how many people were on board were not immediately disclosed.
In a social media statement, the airport confirmed “serious incidents” that include what is known as common aviation aircraft.
He later said all flights to and from the airport have been cancelled until notification and that police, emergency services and air investigators are assessing the incident.
British media said it was a medical transport jet equipped with a medical system to transport patients, particularly the Beechcraft B200 Super King Air heading to the Netherlands.
Immediately after the crash, the images circulated on social media, showing plumes of fire and black smoke emanating from the crash site. The plane involved is said to be 12 meters (39 feet).
An eyewitness to John Johnson, who was at the airport with his family, said the plane saw a “big fireball” after the plane “first crashed its head to the ground.”
“We took off and about 3-4 seconds after taking off, we started snatching the bank big to the left, and within a few seconds that we were more or less flipping and crashing straight to the ground,” he said. “There was a big fireball.”
Johnson said he and his family waved to the pilot, “They all turned to us,” before the plane was located for takeoff.
After the crash, Johnson said the airport firefighters responded immediately, with two fire trucks sent to the crash scene, followed by local police, ambulances and firefighters.
Essex police said they were warned just before 4pm local time by a “serious incident” at a relatively small airport about 45 miles (72km) east of the capital.
“We are currently working with all emergency services on the ground and that work will continue for several hours,” Essex police said.
David Burton Sampson, a local member of the council, urged people to stay and get emergency services to do their jobs.

He said in an interview with NBC News last week that the US will send weapons to NATO, which the military alliance will fund. “We’re not paying any more for weapons,” Trump told NBC at the time.

The 2024 interview captured the feelings of Americans after an attempted assassination after former President Trump took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.
WASHINGTON – A scathing Senate committee report released on the anniversary of the assassination attempt revealed that the surprising mistakes and unforgivable negligence by the Secret Service allowed then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to be shot dead at a Pennsylvania rally last year.
The Secret Service failed to act on reliable information and failed to properly communicate with local law enforcement agencies with Trump’s protective details prior to the event in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024, Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rand Paul announced.
“This wasn’t a single lapse of judgment. It was a complete breakdown of security at all levels. It was a bureaucratic indifference, a lack of clear protocols, and a refusal to surprise us to act on a direct threat,” said the Republican US senator representing Kentucky. “This will never happen again because we have to hold individuals accountable and ensure that reforms are fully implemented.”
The report details the mistake that the threat to Trump and the committee resulted in nearly assassination of the presidential candidate, the death of Larry Bear Corey Comperator, and the injury to two other attendees. The committee evaluated the failure as peaking in a “preventable tragedy.”

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cittle has resigned and has been disciplined in the wake of a shooting in which six individuals injured two additional attendees, the report said. However, no one was fired and the penalties were weaker than the committee said it had recommended.
“Some of these people could be in charge of the security of another presidential candidate. And that’s really dangerous. That’s not true,” Paul said on the CBS show “Face the Nation.”
In his appearance, Paul said that when he told Congress that the assets requested for Butler’s assembly had not been rejected, Cheatle said “didn’t tell the truth.” He also said the countersniper was rejected until Butlers gathered.
The report said at least 10 requests by the department protecting Trump remained rejected or unmet during the presidential election.
“I think it was a cultural cover-up for the agency. They didn’t want to assess responsibility. They didn’t want to see it internally, and they wanted to discount their actions that could have led to this,” Paul said in the CBS program.

In response to the report, Secret Service Director Sean Curran said in a statement provided to USA Today that the agency will continue to work with the committee.
“Following the events of July 13th, Secret Service has seriously considered our business and implemented substantial reforms to address the obstacles that occurred that day,” Curran said.
The agency admitted last week that “along with other contributors, including communication, technology issues and breakdowns of human failures, led to the events of July 13th.” The attack was “nothing tragedy” and “represents an operational failure,” the Secret Service said.
Since then, the agency has said it has requested additional resources to modify and streamline its practices and address recommendations made by Congress.

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari died at the age of 82, a former military general who campaigned to eradicate corruption in the government, the Presidential Press Bureau said in a statement on Sunday.
He died in London around 4:30pm after a “long-term illness,” according to the statement.
Nigeria’s current President Bora Ahmed Tinubu expressed his sadness to Buhari’s wife and ordered the Vice President to travel to the UK to return Buhari’s body to Nigeria.
Tinubu praised Buhari’s legacy as “patriots, soldiers and politicians” and his country’s “deep commitment to unity and progress.”
“He led the most disturbing times with solid strength, deep integrity and unwavering belief in the possibilities of Nigeria. He defended the discipline of public service, confronted corruption head-on, and outperformed the nation in turn over personal interest,” Tinubu said.
Buhari was elected president in 2015 after three failed attempts. He was re-elected in 2019 for a further four-year term.
The former general, who first came to power in the 1983 military coup, was only overthrown by another military coup two years later, and Buhari is remembered in a strong anti-corruption agenda in a country known as “fantastically corrupted” by former British Prime Minister David Cameron. Others praise his harsh attitude towards Boko Haram’s uprising and security issues that have plagued the country’s northeast for years.
He was born in December 1942 in Daura, Katina, in the northern state of Nigeria, and completed military training in Kaduna, the UK, India and the US.
He first became politically prominent in 1975, and came after a military coup that overcame then-directed Jakub Gorson. Buhari became military governor of Borno Province. It is a state that is troubled by Boko Haram.
Buhari, who married twice and has 10 children, was part of a Nigerian dominant facility that called himself out during the 2015 election campaign and won the landslide.
The Nigerians lined up the streets celebrating his victory. However, the honeymoon didn’t last long, as many believed that many had wasted his goodwill by being too late in the president’s actions.
He took six months to appoint a minister to the cabinet and then failed to act swiftly to tackle the country’s economic crisis.
For months, Buhari refused to devalue Nigerian’s falling currency, Naira and its weakening trust in investors. This created the Gulf Coast between the official and black market exchange rates.
According to economic analyst Bismarck Rewane, one of Buhari’s failures was his limited understanding of modern economics and market policies, which led the country to a recession. According to Rewane, this lack of understanding was rooted in delusions and doubt after he overthrew during his first military rule.
He said: “Buhari felt that he had been scam when asked by the IMF to remove Naira’s underestimation and grants.. ”
Lewan, who met President Buhari several times on the campaign trail and gave him policy advice after his victory, says Buhari will be remembered as a “strong and principled leader.”
“He was a very unique governor,” Lewan told CNN. “Some people will say he’s stiff, he didn’t shift when he believed something. But I think it’s a good thing. He’s very rare in this part of the world. People here are so flexible and corrupt.”
Buhari’s first term was the separatist pro-Biafra movement in eastern Nigeria, characterized by wars on many fronts, including the Boko Haram rebellion assaulting Fulani herdsmen throughout Nigeria.
Despite growing concerns about the country’s security situation, Buhari was re-elected in 2019. During his second term, furious protests against police brutality erupted across the country, denounced reports of terror by police forces, harassing, and controversial police forces.
Buhari vowed to fight the extremist groups and do more to fix the economy as the demonstrations became fatal and continued to boil down for the rest of the presidency.
In his final UN speech in 2022, Buhari criticized the “corrosive” effect of fellow leaders who extend term restrictions to stick to power. The following year he praised his successor and party member Tinubu as “the best person for the job.”

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Two people were killed and three others were injured in a series of shootings in Kentucky on July 13, including a state trooper, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 11:36am in Lexington, Kentucky, when local police responded to a report of a shooting involving a Kentucky State Police officer on Terminal Drive. The road passes Bluegrass Airport in Fayette County.
Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said at a press conference that state troopers pulled vehicles on the road after receiving an alert from license plate readers. The suspect fires the trooper and escapes from the scene before carjacking the vehicle.
According to Weathers, the state troopers were in stable condition and were undergoing treatment. No injuries have been reported in the carjacking incident.
Officers were able to track the vehicle down to Richmond Road Baptist Church, where the suspect fired fire at people on church property. It includes two women who were shot dead and declared dead at the scene, and two men who were taken to a local hospital.
The two murdered victims were identified as 72 and 32 years old, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office said. According to the police chief, of the injured victims, the other was seriously injured and the other was reported in stable condition.
“Preliminary information indicates that the suspect may have had connections with individuals at the church,” Weathers said. “The suspect was shot dead by responding to law enforcement and was declared dead at the scene.”

Earlier on July 13, Kentucky Gov. Andy Besher said in a social media post that state troopers were among those injured in a string of shootings.

State police confirmed that there were multiple casualties at the church and that paramedics were on the scene. At least one trooper is “seeing a doctor,” police said.
In another statement regarding X, the Lexington Police Department said the shooting at the church was linked to the officers. The police department added that earlier shootings occurred on Terminal Drive in which state troopers were shot dead.
“The shooting took place on Terminal Drive, but it had nothing to do with Bluegrass airport,” the police department said. Previously, the airport reported that law enforcement investigations “affect some of the terminal drives,” but all flights and operations were operating normally.
“Pray for everyone affected by these meaningless acts of violence. Let’s thank the quick response by the Lexington Police and the Kentucky State Police,” Besher wrote.

Ford returns: Bryan Cranston Championsford’s new philanthropy pushes at Detroit landmarks
Beyond money, Ford employees, dealers and nonprofits will provide immediate support, lay the foundation for recovery by running shelters and reintegration centers and distributing emergency food boxes.
“We at Ford are all deeply saddened by the devastating floods in central Texas, and our thoughts lie in all families and communities that grieve the loss of a loved one,” Elena Ford, Ford’s Chief Engagement Officer, said in an email to the Detroit Free Press, part of today’s network in the United States.
Ford offers payment relief
Beyond the money, Ford said it is offering vehicles for rent to the American Red Cross to help dealers at Texas automakers expand their response efforts to reach affected areas.
Ford also said on July 17th, Ford employees and dealers will come to the North Texas Food Bank to pack food boxes for local Texas families, including those affected by the flood.
On July 10th, members of the Ford Volunteer Corps began preparing to deploy to Team Lubicon and Texas. Team Rubicon, a longtime partner at Ford Philanthropy, is a veteran-led humanitarian organization that provides disaster relief and provides assistance nationwide. Through Ford’s new expanded volunteer pay policy, Ford-trained volunteers will join Team Lubicon’s mission as recovery efforts begin in Texas.
Finally, Ford Credit offers deferred payment options to customers in FEMA designated areas. Ford Credit and Lincoln Automotive Financial Services offer payment extensions of up to 60 days to customers affected by storms, linear winds and floods in Texas.
Elena Ford said that automaker dealers are always deeply rooted in the community and are known to step up when they need help, such as in this case.
“As the search and rescue efforts continue and recovery begins, we will stand with Texas Ford dealers, Ford charities and nonprofit partners to ensure we reach the people who need critical support most,” Ford said.
Toyota will lend a hand too
Ford news comes after Toyota Motor North America said on July 8 that it partnered with Toyota Financial Services, distributors Gulf, Toyota and Vicvawn Toyota nationwide to provide more than $600,000 in donations to help people impacting floods in Texas.
The group’s relief efforts include donations to the Carr County Flood Relief Fund in Texas Hill Country to the Community Foundation, as well as matching contributions, in-kind contributions and volunteer work. Toyota Financial Services also offers payment relief options to affected customers.
“In the event of such a disaster, it’s important to support our neighbors and communities at times of need,” said Ted Ogawa, CEO of Toyota Motor North America. “Our minds are directed at everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.”
Tarakunen, a spokeswoman for General Motors, said the automaker is supporting recovery efforts by providing pickups and SUVs to the American Red Cross.
“Attendance and Contribution to the Red Cross The annual disaster gift programme is equipped with immediate resources to respond quickly to the Red Cross and provide important shelter and supply to those affected by the tragic flood,” Kuhnen said in a statement.
Additionally, GM is enabling STAR Full Crisis Mode service in Texas, Kunen said. This means that anyone with a star-equipped Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet or GMC vehicle that has been hit by a flood can press the blue button inside the vehicle for free crisis assist service.
A Stellantis spokesman did not immediately provide comment when asked if the company would be assisting Texas.

The 43-year-old Princess of Wales attended the Wimbledon Championship singles final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday, July 13th, with her husband Prince William joining her. Two of the royal couple’s children, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10, were also present. Their youngest child, Prince Louis, 7 years old, was absent.
Kate opted for a bright blue dress with a bold shoulder bow and a wide straw hat for the match, while Charlotte wore a ruffled white dress piped into the Navy. The mother and daughter wore sunglasses and shook paper fans in the heat.

LAGOS – Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, the first Nigerian president to lead Africa’s most populous country and oust incumbents through the ballot box between 2015 and 23, passed away in London on Sunday.
“President Buhari passed away today in London at 4:30pm (1530 GMT) after a long illness,” a spokesman for President Bora Tinubu said in a post in X.
After the coup in the 1980s, 82-year-old Buhari, who first led the country as a military ruler, gained devoted supporters for the brand of anti-corruption conviction politics.
He called himself a “converted Democrat” and swapped his military uniform for kaftans and prayer hats.
“I belong to everyone, not to anyone,” Buhari was a constant reserved person who told both his supporters and critics.
Buhari defeated Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, who was deemed to be Nigeria’s most equitable election. Many wanted the retired major to crack down on the armed groups, just as he did when he was the country’s military chief.
Instead, violence was limited primarily to the northeasterly spread. The Nigerian belt was unchecked, taking control of its extended security forces as armed separatists and gangs in the northwestern region.
Much of his appeal lies in the anti-corruption spirit, which was the central board of his agenda as a military and civilian ruler. He said endemic corruption in Nigerian political culture is hindering people.
“Baba will be late.”
However, Buhari was soon disappointed after his 2015 victory.
It took him six months to name the cabinet. Meanwhile, the oil-dependent economy was plagued by crude low prices, urging people to call him “baba go throw.”
His second victory in 2019 came despite the first recession of Nigerian generations, militant attacks on oil fields and repeated hospital stays devastated his first term.
Born on December 17, 1942 in Daura, northwest of Katina, Buhari was registered with the Army at the age of 19. He eventually rose to the rank of Major General.
He promised to take power as a military ruler in 1983 and revitalize an inappropriate country. Buhari took a strict line on everything from the conditions the International Monetary Fund wanted to make to the irrationality of bus queues.
In 1984, his administration tried to lure former ministers and voice critics living in England. The plot failed when London airport officials opened a wooden frame containing adducted politicians.
His first power stint was short-lived. He was taken away just 18 months later by another military officer, Ibrahim Babangida.
Buhari spent much of the next 30 years in the Fringe party, trying to run for president until he finally won Jonathan in 2015.

Restaurant prep food Chad Dumas said he received a call offering a box of pizza for free without understanding what they would promote. When 100 of these boxes appeared, the staff were not satisfied.
“I don’t work at my restaurant,” Dumas said. “I live in one of Atlanta’s most liberal cities… I don’t want it to go out. It’s propaganda.”
They reportedly burned everything except a few boxes in a home near the employee.

Ice agent injuries rates in Trump’s immigrant crackdown
Amid a surge in immigration enforcement, US federal agents are hospitalized after being hurt and injured by public and dangerous arrests.
President Donald Trump’s “border emperor” Tom Homan, who has called the fatality “unhappiness” in response to the reported deaths of Mexican farm workers following the migrant attacks in California, defended immigration and customs enforcement actions in the area.
“That’s sad. It’s a shame,” Homan told CNN’s Dana Bash to “State of the Union.”
“When there is death, that’s obviously a shame,” he said. “I don’t want to see anyone die.”
Jaime Alanis, 57, died on July 12 after immigrants were injured the day before he swept two cannabis farms in northern Los Angeles and arrested about 200 people.
According to multiple reports, Alanis climbed the roof of a greenhouse where he allegedly attempted to avoid officers. He then fell about 30 feet and broke his neck. Alanis passed away the next day at a local hospital.
In an interview with CNN, Homan defended immigrant staff and said he was “at work” in Alanis fall.
“He was not in ice custody,” Homan said. “Ice didn’t have his hand on this person.”
Other workers were seriously injured, according to United Farm Worker President Teresa Romero.
California’s USA Today Network reported that the enforcement caused a chaotic scene on cannabis farms. On the morning of July 10th, immigration agents descended on Glasshouse Farm near Camarillo and Carpinteria, a greenhouse complex that is one of the state’s largest marijuana farms. They blocked the main road and clashed with protesters until dark as agents detained farm workers.
In addition to the undocumented arrest of workers, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that “law enforcement has rescued at least 10 migrant children from things like exploitation, child labour, potentially human trafficking or smuggling.”
Trump’s immigrant crackdown, the heart of his re-election bid, has led to an increase in assaults.

Heavy rains and new floods in central Texas on Sunday prompted rapid water rescue and hampered a rigorous search for victims of the flood that cleaned the area more than a week ago, killing more than 100 people and leaving the devastation that followed.
All search and recovery operations along the Guadalupe River in Carr County have been suspended. County officials said in a social media post Sunday that rescue personnel, equipment and vehicles should be “removed from the river area immediately.” We warned that up to 2-4 inches of rain could fall per hour.
“Currently, volunteering is suspended until further notice. All self-deployment volunteers should also be aware of this warning for safety,” the post states. “Life safety is our number one priority.”
The city of Carville posted a video on Water’s social media running down the streets on Sunday. The National Weather Service warned that localized heavy rains in 2-4 inches of isolated areas – 9-12 inches – could lead to flash floods. The Floodwatch was valid until 7pm on Sunday.
In Ingram, six miles east of Kerrville, the Ingram Fire Station warned that it was not the time for residents to try to video or photograph the rising waters.
“Today, we are looking at the same weather patterns we experienced on July 4th — and we know how quickly it became fatal,” the department warned in a social media post. “This is not entertainment. It’s a life-threatening situation. Your curiosity puts your life and the lives of our first counterparts at serious risk.”
The confirmed death toll from the July 4 flood rose to 129 on Saturday. Kerr was one of more than 12 counties listed in the Weather Service Advisory.

Texas flood death victims rise: New flood watches are available
Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noem defended FEMA’s response to floods on Sunday, saying this is the fastest year in which resources have been deployed to support natural disasters.
Noem, who appeared in NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” denied that a memo she issued in June in June slowed the agency’s response to the tragedy, demanding approval for all FEMA spending over $100,000. She also denied allegations that the FEMA call centers are not completely staffed.
“These claims are absolutely wrong,” Noem said. “There were resources from the Department of Homeland Security within just one or two hours of the flood.”
Matthew Stone, who was cleaning up the storm sewer near a Carville home overlooking the Guadalupe River on Sunday, told The Associated Press that he would have to pull his older neighbors from his home when the flood hits July 4th. He said he hoped the situation wouldn’t be that dramatic with the latest rain.
Kerr County officials are being scrutinized for the timing of the warnings and warnings prior to the July 4 flood. Stone said that wasn’t a problem on Sunday.
“We’re fine,” he said. “The police are coming and going. We get a lot of alerts. We get a lot of support.”

He pointed out Hurricane Helen. Hurricane Helene was not found at least five people, including Yefenni and Nobitonia. Following attacks on elderly people early in the week, violent clashes broke out between far-right groups in southeastern Spain towns late Saturday, local residents and North African migrants.
Five people were injured and one was arrested for fears of Torre Pacheco, local officials told Reuters. The town was quiet on Sunday, but government sources said more arrests are expected.
A video posted on social media showed a man dressed with a far-right symbol carrying a Moroccan flag throwing objects at each other in Saturday night violence.
Tensions flare between locals and immigrants after an elderly man was attacked on the streets Wednesday and caused injuries he was recovering at home. The reason behind the attack is unknown and no one has been arrested.
Mariola Guevara, the representative of the region’s central government, said Spanish public television was investigating the attack.
She also condemned “hate speech” and “inciting violence,” saying far-right groups will be moved to town and additional Guardian civil servants will be deployed to deal with the violence.

Today’s economy is interesting. Looking at unemployment data, things seem good. But talking to real people looking for work may give you a very different answer.
Losing a job can be a blow at any age. But being fired in the 60s is extremely problematic if you’re not ready to end your career.
Elderly workers often struggle to get hired because employers generally don’t want to get the chance from those they think are in the cusp of retirement. So, if you are fired in your 60s, unfortunately you could end up finishing your job for quite some time.
Depending on your exact age, you may have the option to claim Social Security after a layoff in your 60s. But should you do? That’s different. And you should ask yourself these questions and find them.
1. Have I reached full retirement age?
When you turn 62, you can always request Social Security. However, if you are 67 for those born after 1960, if you are not at the full retirement age, signing up for Social Security will permanently cut your monthly benefits.
Before you rush to make a profit, figure out how far you are from your full retirement age. You may be able to piece together your income for a while, so you can submit benefits and wait to avoid lifetime reductions.
2. How long will my retirement and unemployment last?
Generally, those who lose their job due to their own negligence are entitled to unemployment benefits. They may replace only a small portion of your salary. But if you are entitled to quit, that means you can line up on a pretty great payday on your departure. And it can allow you to refrain from social security claims so that you can lock in bigger monthly benefits.
Every company’s approach to retirement is different. However, some employers will calculate based on tenure.
Let’s say your company is shrinking its staff and offering a week of service per year in addition to three months of retirement benefits. If you’ve been working with your company for 20 years, that’s another five months’ income in addition to your company’s basic offer. It buys a considerable amount of time before you have to claim Social Security, especially when considering additional income from unemployment benefits.
3. Are you ready to work?
If you are fired in your 60s, you may decide to use it as an opportunity to retire on the spot. But maybe that’s not what you want and you want to continue working – at least on a part-time or consulting basis, if not full-time.
Before asserting social security, it is important to know what you want to do. Waiting for profit could be beneficial to your long-term finances. Therefore, if you want to work and accept the old work to stay in the workforce for an extra year or two, it could be that you can sit tightly in Social Security and get bigger profits.
It’s not easy to get fired, especially when you’re older. Social Security may insist on what you want to do right away. And depending on your exact age and financial situation, it is not necessarily a poor choice. Rather, the point is to consider various options before rushing to submit your perks right after the layoff.

In the 2025 Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final, second-seeded Carlos Alcaraz, who is aiming for the third consecutive Wimbledon title, will face No. 1 seed Janik Sinner on Center Court.
Alcaraz defeated America’s Taylor Fritz 4-6, 7-5, 3-6, 6-7 (6) after three hours of intense play, and after extending his winning streak to 24 games, he secured his place in the final in the claw-biting four-set semi-finals. In the final, Alcaraz will face the world’s No. 1 Jannik Sinner. Jannik Sinner won 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 after beating 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Jjokovic in straight sets.
Alcaraz and the Sinner face each other in their second Grand Slam Final this year, following an epic five-set marathon at the French Open. This is the first time since 2008 that the same two men have met in the French Open and Wimbledon finals.

Is there a sweet revenge in Jannik Sinner’s cards?
As they tried to reverse the results of the classic French Open Finals, Thinner took the third set against Alcaraz with a strong shot-making. At the third breakpoint of the third set, Thinner passed along with the winner he needed.
Even with 4-All and Alcaraz scores, Sinner crushed the forehand winner and set himself up for a break. He capitalized when Alcaraz slid on his deep baseline return and put a simple backhand volley down to the open court.
Thinner then locked down the set with some powerful overhead shots and service winners to close Set 6-4.
Thinner had no ace in the first two sets, but in the third set they powered at 6.
These two tennis titans could head for second straight instant classics in the Grand Slam Finals.
After filming the opening set, Alcaraz couldn’t maintain momentum at the start of Set 2. Thinner bouncing back to record a service break in the opening game, and unlike the opening set, he didn’t return Alcaraz.
Showing some distinctive emotions, the normally gentle sinner gestured after some important points during the set. He closed it with some big athletic ability to score the final points on the cross-court impact.
Carlos Alcaraz came in from an early deficit, winning the final four games and earning the opening set with Janik Thinner.
After both players served in the first two, Thinner recorded the first service break of the match in the fifth game, earning the final four points on some aggressive returns.
But Alkaraz even returned to the set in four games thanks to unlimited errors by the sinners in his serve.
Alkaraz destroys the sinner once more and steals the set. The double folded sinner with Deuce and Alcaraz hit an astonishing return, so he barely cleared the net for a clinch point.
There is a slight delay, but a little bit away from the start of the Gentleman’s singles final at Wimbledon.
Alkaraz serves first.

Wimbledon 2025 marks the fifth Grand Slam final for the Sinner. He won the Australian Open in 2024 and 2025 and the US Open in 2024, but lost in the Alcaraz final in the 2025 French Open final.
This is Carlos Alcaraz’s sixth Grand Slam single final. He won five previous major finals, winning the French Open in 2023 and 2025, and the past two Wimbledon titles in 2023 and 2024.
Wimbledon 2025 marks the 13th meeting of Carlos Alcaraz and Giannik Thinner. Alcaraz dominated the rivalry and won eight of 12 previous contests, including the past five. Their latest meeting was a five-set thriller in the final of last month’s French Open. Alcaraz gathered from two sets to win the Roland Garros Crown.

Wimbledon is one of four Grand Slam tennis tournaments to be played in Grass. The Australian and US Opens will be played on hard courts, while the French Open will be played on Red Clay.
Wimbledon generally produces faster tennis and more volleys than other majors, and the ball doesn’t bounce back much higher. The surface can sometimes be slippery, especially compared to hard coats.

Iran agrees to a ceasefire, the State Department says
The US will keep both Israel and Iran in an agreed ceasefire, a State Department spokesperson said
At least eight Palestinians, most of them children, were killed, and more than dozens were injured in central Gaza when they went to collect water on July 13, local officials said they collected water on an Israeli strike where the military said they missed the target.
Israeli forces said the missiles had intended to attack Islamic jihadi extremists in the area, but malfunctions caused them to collapse “dozens of meters from the target.”
“The IDF regrets the harm to civilians who are not involved,” he said in a statement, adding that the case is under review.
Ahmed Abu Saifan, an emergency physician at Al-Awda Hospital, said the strike struck a water distribution point at the Nuseirat refugee camp, killing six children and injuring 17 people.
Water shortages in Gaza have deteriorated sharply in recent weeks, with fuel shortages closing desalination and sanitation facilities, relying on collection centres that can fill plastic containers.
Hours later, 12 people were killed in Israel’s strike at a market in Gaza city, including a prominent hospital consultant, Palestinian media reported. Israeli forces did not immediately comment on the attack.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said more than 58,000 people have been killed since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in October 2023, with 139 people added to the death toll over the past 24 hours.
Rather than distinguishing civilians from fighter jets in its tally, the ministry says more than half of those killed are women and children.
The discussion was stuck
Negotiations aimed at securing a ceasefire were divided into the scope of Israel’s final withdrawal from the Palestinian enclave, Palestinian and Israeli sources said over the weekend.
Indirect talks about the US proposal for a 60-day ceasefire is taking place in Doha, but the optimism that surfaced in the transaction last week has largely faded, with both sides denounced incompromising each other.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video posted on Telegram on Sunday that Israel will not retreat from its core demands — releasing all Gaza hostages, destroying Hamas, and Gaza will never again be a threat to Israel.
Netanyahu was scheduled to convene the ministers later on Sunday to discuss the ceasefire talks.
The war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led militants rushed into Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages to Gaza. Of the remaining 50 hostages, at least 20 are thought to be still alive.
Israel’s campaign against Hamas has driven out almost the entire population of more than 2 million people, but Gazaans say it’s not safe anywhere in the coastal enclave.
A missile crashed into a Gaza home on Sunday morning, where the family moved after receiving an evacuation order from their home in the south suburbs.
“My aunt, her husband and children are gone. What is the fault of the children who died in the bloody massacre at dawn?” said Anas Matar, standing inside the tiled bleed of the building.
“They came here and they were attacked. There’s no safe place in Gaza,” he said.
