Theo von asks JD Vance about the Epstein file: “What’s changed?”

The popular podcast host and comedian who interviewed Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election and attended his inauguration, criticised Vice President J.D. Vance for the Jeffrey Epstein incident.

In a July 16 social media post, Theo Von, who has millions of subscribers to podcasts and social media channels, recirculated clips from previous interviews with Vance, who agreed to release file allegations related to Epstein’s criminal investigation.

Von’s comments join the online MAGA chorus of numbers being pushed back to the Trump administration after a July 7 announcement that FBI and the Justice Department investigation found evidence of the supposed client list that is believed to contain the names of individuals associated with Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking.

The investor and convicted sex offender died while awaiting trial on a 2019 sex trafficking charge.

Von re-shared the seven-second video clip from his October 2024 interview with Vance. At the time, Senator said, “Seriously, that’s important. That’s important.” The user’s original post contained text. “The video is now viral. JDVance is calling for the release of the full list of Epstein. On Theovon podcast. Just a JD, what’s changed?”

Von republished the post on his own page, adding, “Yeah, what’s changed?”

Von’s podcast “This Last Weekend Theo von” was Spotify’s fourth most popular podcast as of mid-July, and one of the more popular podcasts that leaned towards conservatives. They often gather within Joe Rogan, located within the so-called “Manosphere,” a media channel that caters primarily to male audiences. Fon’s show often features interviews with celebrities, politicians and influencers, including a nearly hour-long sit-in with Trump months before the November 2024 presidential election.

Epstein’s “client list” and alleged controversy among the surroundings, splitting has emerged among the most vocal online personalities of Republicans and Maga. Trump has long suggested that he is open to releasing a list of so-called Epstein clients. Vance also raised his voice by issuing a similar statement during his 2024 campaign.

Attorney General Pam Bondy said in March that he was “tracking” the Epstein Files to review and potentially release it, particularly within Trump’s foundations. However, the engagement broke out on July 7th, when Bondi’s Justice Department announced that there was no “client list” and no further disclosure was required.

Since then, Trump has instructed Bondi to release “anything she thinks she can trust,” but he has tried to distance himself from the fuss, claiming it was a “democratic hoax.” But longtime Trump loyalists, including daughter-in-law Lara Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, are looking for more transparency. Democrats are also calling for legislative measures to make some documents public.

“We deserve the truth about the Epstein Files. We are ready to handle this,” Hardline magazine representative Lauren Boebert wrote on X on July 15th.

Charlie Kirk, a key magazine influencer who frequently spoke about his suspicions about the Epstein Probe, suddenly reversed the course on his vocal criticism this week, saying on his podcast:

An army of robot rabbits unfolded in the battle with Pison in Florida

0

Pison, Burma, has terrified the Florida Everglades for years. Scientists hope that the robotic bunny will end the reptile reign against the region.

play

They are waiting to seduce their prey in the grass of South Florida, a new weapon in the state’s battle to remove invasive python hiding.

Yes, it’s a mechanical rabbit. Don’t call them energy bunnies.

Researchers at the University of Florida are equipped with 40 furry fake toy rabbits, with motors and small heaters working together to mimic the movement and temperature of rabbits in the wetlands.

The mission of the fluffy military? It helps parents remove the highly destructive snakes that have invaded the state’s ecosystem.

Why do they use robot rabbits?

Bunny spins. They shake. They move randomly, and their creation is based on more than a decade of scientific reviews that began with a 2012 study in which rabbits were transported to Everglades National Park to see if they would become python’s prey.

“The rabbits didn’t go well,” said Robert McCreeley, UF professor of wildlife ecology and conservation, who leads research into robotic bunny that started this summer.

Subsequent studies revealed that the average weekly Python attraction speed is depicted on a living rabbit with one snake pen per week. However, having multiple live rabbits in the pen is a hassle to spread across the formidable landscape and requires too many people to take care of them.

So why not a robot bunny?

“We want to capture all the processes that an actual rabbit would release,” McCreeley said. “But I’m an ecologist. I’m not the one sitting around making robots.”

Instead, Chris Dutton, a professor of UF ecology but a more mechanically accomplished colleague, pulled stuffing out from a toy rabbit and replaced it with 30 solar-powered and controlled electronic components so that they could be turned on and off at a certain time.

The rabbits were located in various regions of South Florida in July 2025, and included a testing phase that included a camera that was programmed to recognize Python movements and alert researchers when they approached the rabbit pen. One of the biggest challenges was the bunny waterproofing, which allowed us to radiate the correct temperature.

McCleery was reluctant to give details about where the rabbit pen was.

“I don’t want the people who hunt my Roboban,” he said.

In version 2.0 of the study, if movement and heat are not tricking the snake, the plush adds a bunny scent.

Why is Pison in Burma the problem?

Pisons in Burma do not live in Florida. They were introduced to the state through the pet trade in the 1970s and released into the wild over time. According to the 2021 Florida Python Control Plan, by the mid-1980s, snakes had gained scaffolding in Everglades National Park, threatening other important species in the ecosystem and proliferating quickly.

A 2012 study by the US Geological Survey found that pythons contributed to the decline in population of half a dozen animals, including raccoons, opossums, bobcats, foxes, wetland rabbits and cottonton tile rabbits.

USGS places Burmese Python populations in Everglades, tens of thousands of them.

Pythons have moved north from the park, and researchers believe that if temperatures continue to warm and snakes dig holes during cold snaps, they may be able to survive as north as Georgia.

What else does Florida do to control Python populations?

State officials seeking to ease the Python population have transformed into many strategies with various successes.

Famous snake hunters from the Irla tribe of India were brought in to hunt and share their skills. People use near-infrared cameras for Python detection and specially designed traps. Some Python is tracked by water-drained DNA.

The annual Florida Python Challenge also has a legendary status, attracting hundreds of hunters each year, competing for the $10,000 grand prize. The 10-day challenge was developed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to remove Pison from state land. This year’s challenge will be held until July 20th.

Starting in 2017, the South Florida Water Management District and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Board also began paying 100 bounty hunters hourly wages and bonuses based on the length of the snakes caught.

Hunter has removed an estimated 15,800 snakes since 2019, calling it “the most effective management strategy in the history of the matter” by the district’s invasive animal biologist Mike Kirkland.

Kirkland oversees the district’s hunters and is involved in other Python removal projects, including the Robo Bunny experiment.

“It’s a project like (McCleery’s) that can be used in areas of important ecological significance that allow Pythons to get out of their hideout and come to us,” Kirkland told the board. “That could be a bit of a game changer.”

McCreeley said he was happy that state officials were willing to experiment.

“Our partners allowed us to try these things that might sound a little crazy,” McCreeley said. “I’m tired of working with the Everglades for 10 years and documenting issues. You want to deal with it.”

McCleery said the researchers didn’t name the robot rabbit, but they brought home a home that needed repairs. His son named it “Bumbun.”

Military AI contract awarded to humanity, Openai, Google and Xai

0

The Pentagon opened military AI locks and handed out contracts worth up to $800 million to four biggest names: Google, Openai, Anthropic and Elon Musk’s Xai. Each company has scored shots for $200 million worth of work.

“We’re excited to announce that we’re a great deal,” said Dr. Doug Matty, Digital Chief and AI Executive. “The adoption of AI is transforming the department’s ability to support fighter jets and maintain a strategic advantage over the enemy.

“Utilizing off-the-shelf solutions in an integrated functional approach will accelerate the use of advanced AI as part of intelligence, business and enterprise information systems as part of the essential tasks of joint missions in the Warfighting domain.”

The pentagon plays it wisely by not putting all the eggs in one basket. Instead of choosing one winner, they are creating competition among top players in the hopes of ensuring the best AI solutions available to the military and the wider government.

As the announcement fell, Mask’s Xai rolled out “Grok for Government,” a special version of AI specially designed for use by public institutions. This follows similar government initiatives for Openai and humanity.

Xai’s new government suite promises everything from the latest Grok 4 models to “deep search” and “tool use.” They plan to get security clearance for engineers and even make AI work in classification environments.

The company is clearly trying to position itself as a patriotic choice, talking about “maintaining American leadership in technological innovation” and “turning shovels into tokens.”

But do you remember when Grok completely off the rails and started talking about “Mechahitler”? That’s exactly what makes people nervous about using AI for serious government jobs and even military purposes.

When dealing with national security, you can’t suddenly vent strange alternative history or create things to your AI assistant. The stakes are too high. It’s like hiring someone to help with an important decision, but sometimes they just start talking about nonsense.

The entire transaction shows how seriously the government takes AI. They consider it essential to stay competitive. A partnership with the General Services Bureau means that federal agencies can leverage these AI tools and allow everyone from the FBI to the Department of Agriculture to participate.

The pentagon is basically high stakes experiments. By working with multiple AI companies, they bet on making the most of the world, avoiding the risk of relying on a single provider. This is a sensible strategy, but it means you need to figure out how to manage all these different systems and make sure they actually work together.

The actual test is whether these AI tools can provide government and military promises without the embarrassing glitches that have plagued some of these systems in the past. When it comes to national security, there is no room for AI with a “mechahitler” moment.

The Pope “sadly saddened” after three people were killed in Israel’s apparent strike against Gaza’s only Catholic Church

0

CNN

Pope Leo XIV “is deeply saddened,” after the three were killed on a strike at Gaza’s only Catholic Church, he said in a Vatican telegram Thursday.

Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin has called the strike a “military attack.”

The Latin patriarchy in Jerusalem has jurisdiction over prominent Catholics of the Latinos in Gaza, but the Holy Family Church said it was struck by Israel on Thursday morning. The church became a shelter for the small Christian community of the enclave amid ongoing war.

The Israeli military said it was “aware of the damage caused to the Holy Family Church in Gaza city and reports of victims at the scene,” adding that “the situation in the incident is under review.”

“The (Israel Defence Force) has made every viable effort to mitigate harm to civilians and civilian structures, including religious sites, and regret the damage caused to them,” he said.

The patriarchy appointed three people who were killed as Saad Issa Kostandi Salameh, Foumia Issa Latif Ayyad and Najwa Abu Dawood. Several others were injured as well.

“We pray for the rest of their souls and for the end of this wild war. We cannot justify the targeting of innocent civilians,” the statement read.

Pope Leo used his statement to repeat his plea for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Cardinal Pizzabara, the Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, Pizzabara, told Vatican News that the church was attacked “in-person” on Thursday morning.

Father Gabriel Romanelli, a priest of the parish, was injured in the attack, the patriarchy said, along with many others. Romanelli is Argentina, which has served in Gaza for nearly 30 years.

Images validated by CNN show that the church was damaged in the attack, but the cross on the church roof was visible as is.

The church was attacked once during the Israeli war in Gaza. According to the Latin patriarchy in Jerusalem, in December 2023, an Israeli military sniper shot two women evacuated inside.

The church is internationally known for its close ties with the late Pope Francis, who summoned the parish almost every day since the beginning of the Israeli Hamas war.

Only about 1,000 Christians lived in Gaza before the attack on October 7th. This is overwhelmingly Muslim territory.

Meanwhile, the ceasefire continues to speak to an end to the war in Gaza, where Palestinian officials have killed more than 58,000 people.

Israel may show flexibility at a key fixed point of Gaza’s ceasefire talks, sources told CNN as negotiators try to close the gap to prevent the first pause in months of the fight.

Specifically, there may be some flexibility from Israel regarding the possibility of troops withdrawing from the Morag Corridor, a key Israeli security zone in the South Gaza Strip.

The positioning of Israeli forces in Gaza around the Morag Corridor during the proposed 60-day ceasefire was a major stumbling block of talks.

The corridor was established in April by the Israeli army with the explicit intention of splitting Gaza and putting great pressure on Hamas. The name refers to the Jewish settlement of Morag, once south of the territory between the cities of Khan Yunis and Rafa.

The US was talking about the prospect of a swift agreement for consultations. This gained momentum last month after ending a brief conflict between Israel and Iran. However, the day of the lecture did not provide a breakthrough.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

According to experts, plan these “one big beautiful invoice” tax plans now

0

play

The tax season is not yet nearing its start, but it’s time to start planning to take advantage of the new provisions of the massive tax and expenditure bill that became law at the beginning of July, experts say.

There are no tips or taxes on overtime, and the $6,000 bonus deduction for seniors is well-published, but there are many more tax changes available. Other highlights include charitable contribution deductions, interest deductions for certain new vehicles on car loans, and family deductions and credit increases.

Brian Gray, Certified Public Accountant and Tax Partner at Gursey Schneide, said: There are a lot right now.

Charitable contributions are no longer just for items

OBBB will forever bring back the charitable contribution deduction to those who receive the standard deduction from 2026.

During the 2020 pandemic, the CARES Act allowed a temporary deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions for individuals receiving the standard deduction. The temporary deduction was extended to $600 for married couples co-submitted in 2021, and has since expired.

Under the OBBB, “A year-end charity deduction plan could be beneficial,” Gray said. “If you can’t itemize, you can deduct $1,000 per person or $2,000 per couple.”

The above deductions can be taken without itemizing them. It’s worth it as it could lower your adjusted gross income, lower your tax liability and help you qualify for other deductions or tax credits.

Personal car loan interest deduction

Brian Schultz, a certified public accountant for Plante Moran Wealth Management’s tax practices, said OBBB can deduct interest on new individual car loans for first timers.

Interest on personal car loans was previously deductible, but was only an itemized deduction until the 1986 Tax Reform Act ruled out.

Under the OBBB, Americans can deduct interest rates up to $10,000 on taxes, starting in 2025-2028.

Some warnings have specific requirements to qualify for the deduction, which can make it difficult to take advantage of. For example, the purchase must be a new US assembled vehicle for personal use, with income restrictions applied.

However, if you can find a qualified vehicle and are eligible for a deduction, the calculations can change when deciding whether to purchase or lease the vehicle or lease each cost, Schultz said.

More benefits for families

Schultz said that even if a family receives the standard deduction, there are two benefits that families should know.

  • If your employer offers a flexible spending account (DCFSA) for higher dependency care. Before taxes are deducted, the funds will be withdrawn from your salary and can be used to care for children and adults who are generally unable to take care of themselves.

OBBB permanently increases the annual maximum contribution from $5,000 to $7,500 (or $3,750 for married couples). The increase will begin next year, but registration for these plans will soon begin in 2025, Schultz said.

The temporary increase during Covid was packed with contribution levels at $5,000 for 40 years, with the exception of $10,500 in 2021 from the US Rescue Plan Act in 2021 (or $5,250 for married people).

  • Schultz said Child and Addiction Care Credit (CDCC) will receive a double boost starting in 2026.

First, credit rates increased from 35% to 50% of qualifying costs, up to $3,000 for one child, up to $6,000 for two or more children, and up to $6,000 for families with the lowest incomes. There is no upper limit on income, but the percentage gradually decreases as income rises.

Second, the income threshold for taxpayers receiving a minimum 20% credit jumped to $206,000 for couples who submitted jointly, for individuals from their pre-OBBB income levels of $86,000 and $43,000, respectively, for jointly submitted couples.

According to the fund for the first five years, these changes have led to an increase in tax credits for nearly 4 million families. It is a nonprofit focused on ensuring families have affordable access to quality childcare and early learning programs.

“Under current law, families with two young children who have two young children usually receive around $1,200,” Sara Litling, the organization’s executive director, said in a statement after Congress passed the OBBB. “With the enhancement, the benefits will be seen as a $900 boost that can make a meaningful difference for parents who manage tight budgets.”

With one plan, Americans could earn more credits, Schultz said. For example, increasing your contribution of 401(k) will reduce your taxable income sufficiently to win a large CDCC in 2026.

“A lot of new changes due to gradual out-of-revenue,” he said. “Beware of your income level.”

“Pretty Little Baby” singer was 87 years old

0

play

Connie Francis, a pop vocalist of the 1950s and 60s, died in 87 of “Silly Cupid,” “Who’s Sorry Now,” and “Pretty Little Baby.”

Ron Roberts, Concetta Records, president of her music label, announced the news on Facebook early on Thursday, July 17th. This statement has been re-shared on Francis’ official Facebook page.

“It’s my heart and extreme sadness to let you know that my best friend Connie Francis passed away last night,” Roberts wrote. “Connie knows that her fans will approve of learning this sad news first.”

Although her cause of death was not shared, Francis had been hospitalized in intensive care units for several weeks recently. There, she was undergoing tests to find the cause of “extreme pain.” She continued to notify fans via her Facebook page. Her final update on July 4th said she was “more and better.”

Roberts added that additional details will be announced later.

Francis is considered one of the bestselling female vocalists of the 1960s and is believed to have helped globalize American music, including recording singles in 12 different languages.

The 1962 hit of the native Newark, New Jersey, “Pretty Little Baby,” recently went viral on Tiktok, exposing the mid-century star to a new generation of fans.

She continued her acting career. “When a Boy Meets a Girl,” “Follow the Boys,” “Looking for Love,” and the film “It became a low-budget hit for MGM,” which shares its name with the 1961 hit, “Where the Boys Are.”

Later in his life, Francis took a long break from the music due to tragedy. According to her biographies, cosmetic surgery in 1967 affected her voice performance. She returned to music in 1974 after suffering from a miscarriage. Later that year, she was sexually assaulted and taken away with knife points, leading to several years of rest from the public. She sued the hotel chain, where she was attacked and won over $2 million.

Her life was also influenced by mental health struggles and alleged physical abuse from her husband, becoming an advocate for the rights of the victims.

Lee Westwood and his caddy wife are duo ignoring odds in the open championship

0

CNN

For better or worse, for the rich or poor, for birdies or bogeys: Lee Westwood and his wife Helen live the dreams of all golf couples in the open championship.

The former world No. 1 got off to an impressive start with the 153rd edition of the sport’s oldest tournament held at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland on Thursday, when his spouse cadded every step of the 2-under 69 opening round on the rain-wet dunluce link course.

While it may be seen as unconventional, but not unheard of for most players – Westwood never again thought about his choice in the bag for his 90th major appearance.

“I want to caddy for me as much as possible for her,” the 52-year-old told reporters two shots from the lead when he returned to the clubhouse.

“It was an easy decision for me. It’s probably difficult for her. She wants to ride a horse and stay home.”

The on-course partnership began in 2018, the duo explained earlier this month on the “The Therapy Crouch” podcast.

“I knew I could handle the weight of the bag and what you had, but I didn’t have any bloody cues on what I was doing,” Helen said.

However, it was an immediate rewarding move, with Westwood claiming his 24th European Tour victory in his third tournament. When the two got married in Las Vegas in 2021, their “honeymoon” the following week was challenged by the US opening in San Diego.

Technical decisions on the course, such as clubs and shot selection, start with seven Ryder Cup champions, but mental issues often rest on the shoulders of the caddy.

“Sometimes, when I kick off and have a little moan and cry, she looks at me and says, ‘Are you done?'” Westwood said.

“He’s in a beautiful place where he’s doing something he loves. I’m like, ‘Growing up, working on it,'” added Helen.

A favorite of world number one Scotty Scheffler and home hero Rory McIlroy, and in a star-studded field, Westwood arrived as a bookmaker and a 500/1 long shot, as the opening returned to the Royal Portrush for the third time, but can be captivated since the venue last played the host on the Courseway Coast.

The Nottinghamshire-born golfer finished his fourth in 2019 and Helen was in his bag again.

It serves as hopes to ensure that you never win majors in his latest bids as one of the most talented players without unwanted tags. His best finish of nine top 10 finishes, albeit seven shots, came in at the open in 2010, a year after which he struggled to make the tournament playoffs on one stroke.

“I love the Open Championship and I love Portrush,” Westwood said Thursday.

“It’s one of the golf courses and if it wasn’t open and someone said, ‘Do you want to have Portrush this weekend?” I’d probably go.

Lee Westwood and his wife Helen Story on Thursday's fifth green.

Westwood’s 28th open start was his first mark since 2022, and in the same year he left the PGA Tour to participate in LIV golf. He was competing in the Dallas event at the BreakAway Circuit just two days before stamping tickets for the Royal Portrush at the final qualifying event earlier this month.

He held the early lead with four under par with Danish Jacobskov Olesen and China’s Lee Hatchon, following a fourth birdie in the opening round on hole 12.

“Golf more than any other golf gives you a chance when you’re our age,” Westwood said. “The ball has a little more running. You need to use the conditions.”

“You can’t beat the senior names on Thursday… If you’re there on Sunday, I’ll talk again,” he added.

Zuckerberg’s $15 billion war on talent explained

0

Mark Zuckerberg has a history of restructuring the entire industry and making bold bets to beautifully lose when not exposed. After burning US$46 billion in Metaverse, Meta’s CEO is doubling with an even more ambitious bet: Superintelligence AI.

However, this time there is a high stake, the competition is more intense, and the potential rewards are more transformative than what Meta has previously attempted.

Even with the 9-figure reward package and investment in infrastructure that blows up Metaverse spending, Zuckerberg’s Superintelligence AI Gamble represents the war of Silicon Valley’s most expensive talent.

The birth of Meta Superintelligence Labs

The formation of Meta Superintelligence Labs shows a shift for the social media giant. In an exclusive interview with information“The most exciting thing this year is that we are beginning to show early glimpses of self-improvement with models,” Zuckerberg told founder Jessica Lessin in TITV’s live streaming program.

This vision has driven the company to rebuild its entire AI division, with an ambitious goal of providing what Zuckerberg calls “personal superintelligence to everyone in the world.” The creation of the lab follows a period of internal struggles in Meta’s AI division, including management struggles, employee terminations and flattened product releases.

Rather than gradually improving existing systems, Zuckerberg chose to go through a complete overhaul, bringing external leadership and rethinking the company’s approach to AI development.

Have we witnessed the most expensive war on talent in technology history?

At the heart of Meta’s Superintelligence AI Ambitions is the talent acquisition strategy that sent shockwaves through the industry. Zuckerberg set out on the existence of spending to create a new lab that offers nine-figure pay packages to hire top researchers from companies such as Openai, Google, Apple, and Anthropic.

when Information Lessin questioned the report on the US$108 million compensation package, Zuckerberg said “many of the reported details are not accurate in and of itself.” But it’s a very hot market.

Meta AI’s talent acquisition strategy goes beyond financial incentives. Zuckerberg said, “Essentially, doing the most calculations per researcher is a strategic advantage not only to do the job, but also to attract the best people.” This approach reflects the understanding that talent density is more important than team size in a super-intelligence AI race.

Alexandr Wang Acquisition: US$14.3 billion gambling

The heart of Meta’s talent strategy was gaining scale AI leadership. In June, the company invested US$14.3 billion in AI startups, which was founded and led by Wang. Under the agreement, Meta acquired a 49% stake in the company, with One and top-scale employee teams joining Meta in leadership roles.

At just 28 years old, Alexandre Wang is now the Chief AI Board of Meta, leading the company’s renamed “Meta Super Intelligence Lab.” In the large AI division, Wang leads a team of about 12 newly hired researchers, a small number of agents for scale AI, and former CEO of Github, Nat Friedman.

We integrated Wang’s team as a reimagining how Meta approaches AI development. The group has worked in silent office spaces from the rest of the company next to Zuckerberg, highlighting the importance imposed on the initiative.

Philosophical Shift: From Open Source to Closed Development

Perhaps the most important development born out of Meta Superintelligence Labs is the potential abandonment of the company’s long-standing open source philosophy. Last week, a small group of top lab members, including Wang, discussed abandoning the company’s most powerful open source AI model called Behemoth in support of the development of a closed model.

This represents a departure from the historical approach of meta. For years, Meta has chosen to open source AI models and publishes code that other developers can build. Meta executives argue that technology should be publicly available, as AI development will move faster and more developers can access it.

This shift reflects concerns about competitive positioning in AI races. Meta has stopped supplying data to its Behemoth model (training), but is delaying its release due to poor internal performance. The set-off prompted a serious rethinking of the company’s approach.

Infrastructure as a competitive advantage

Beyond talent acquisition, Meta is making infrastructure investments to support its close ambitions. Zuckerberg has revealed that the company is a pioneer in new construction methods, including “constructing multiple multi-gigawatt data centers” and “weatherproof tents” to accelerate deployment.

The scale of these investments is incredible. Hyperion, one of Meta’s new data centers, said “we will expand up to 5 gigawatts in the coming years,” and “the site size covers a significant portion of Manhattan’s footprint in terms of space.”

Infrastructure spending is possible due to the strong financial position of Meta, and Zuckerberg says that “basically this can be funded all of the company’s cash flow.”

Personal Super Intelligence Vision

What distinguishes meta’s approach from its competitors is to focus on “personal tensions” rather than centralized AI systems. During an interview with Information Lesson, Zuckerberg explained that while other labs focus on “wanting to automate all of the economically productive work of society,” Meta’s vision is “what people care about in their lives… relationships and creativity, and fun and fun.”

The vision extends to Meta’s hardware ambitions, particularly its AR glasses initiative. In an interview with the same TITV, Zuckerberg predicted that “if you don’t have AI glasses, you’re at a cognitive disadvantage,” explaining a future scenario where your AI peers can “observe what’s going on in your life and follow up for you.”

Industry impact and competitive dynamics

Meta’s Superintelligence Push meaning extends beyond the company. META’s AI talent acquisition strategy creates pay inflation in the industry, forcing competitors to fit or exceed meta pay levels to retain researchers.

When asked about his interactions with his competitors in Sun Valley, Zuckerberg acknowledged the competitive landscape, saying, “We’re not trying to target any of the top researchers in the industry. We want to know all of the industry’s top researchers.”

The diplomatic approach fundamentally hides what is zero-sum competition for a finite pool of top-notch ultra-intelligence AI talent. The potential shift from open source development indicates a broader industry trend towards a more unique approach to AI development.

Conclusion: The crucial moment of meta

Meta’s Superintelligence initiative represents a reimagining of the company’s future. After a costly metaverse experiment failed to produce results, Zuckerberg has placed an even bigger bet on AI, allowing for investments of over USD 100 million in the future.

The success or failure of Meta Superintelligence Labs could determine not only the future of the company, but also the trajectory of the broader AI industry. The stakes are high as some employees expect “Exodus of AI talents who are not chosen to join Wang’s Superintelligence team.”

It remains to be seen that Zuckerberg is assuming whether META’s AI talent acquisition campaign will create groundbreaking technology. What’s certain is that Silicon Valley’s most expensive war on talent has begun.

Reduce referendum age from the UK to 16 based on government proposals

0

CNN

The UK is calling landmark efforts by governments to “protect democracy in the future” and could become one of the first European countries to reduce the age of voting to 16 in all national elections.

If passed by Parliament, the proposed reforms announced on Thursday will bring national votes along with elections in Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands, where young voters have already voted.

“The younger people deserve to have a stake in the future of our democracy and have a say in the House of Representatives’ local government,” said Rushanara Ali on Thursday.

“When we came to power over a year ago, the government, through its manifesto, committed to strengthening valuable democracy and advancing measures to protect election integrity.”

The UK’s moves that could be led for the next general election continue to follow a global trend towards a young environment.

Darren Hughes, CEO of the Election Reform Association, welcomed the proposed reforms and said lowering the voting age would “help more young people throw that very important, habit-forming vote at the point where they can support civic education.”

“Participation is an important sign of democratic health. If fewer people vote, our democracy will be weaker,” he added.

In 2008, Austria became the first European country to reduce the referendum age to 16, and 10 years later Malta adopted the change. In South America, countries including Brazil, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Argentina have been allowing votes for many years, starting from the age of 16.

However, for most of the world, 18 years old remains the standard lowest voting age. In Asia, countries such as Indonesia and East Timor have set a threshold of 17, while Singapore, Lebanon and Oman have requested that citizens wait until 21 to vote.

In the UK, government intentions are under scrutiny.

James Ussel, head of the campaign since the central right think tank, told CNN that the proposal was “some noble promotion to democracy,” but instead “political engineering aimed at supporting noble (workers).”

In both opinion polls and votes, younger voters tend to be more distorted by labor than major opposition conservatives.

The proposed reforms sparked criticism from the Conservatives on Thursday, with lawmakers and shadow cabinet member Paul Holmes telling the House:

The reform will also expand acceptable voter IDs to include digital formats of existing IDs, such as driver’s licenses and military “veterans” cards. Bank cards issued in the UK are also accepted.

Maga supporter Trump called “weaks” via the Epstein Files

play

  • There has been disagreement between President Trump and some of his supporters over the handling of files related to the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
  • Trump criticized his supporters for believing what he called a “Jeffrey Epstein hoax” after the Justice Department said there was no “client list” and there was no need for further disclosure.
  • Several prominent Republicans, including speakers Mike Johnson, Charlie Kirk and Lara Trump, are looking for more transparency.

President Donald Trump appears in conflict with some of his supporters over the files of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein was a deceased financial operator and convicted sex offender who died while awaiting trial in 2019. In March, Attorney General Pam Bondy said there was an “truck load” on the Epstein Files to be reviewed and released. On July 7, Bondi’s Justice Department said there was no “client list” and no further disclosure is required.

The move has prompted protests against more transparency among Republicans, despite Trump appearing to be underestimating it as old news. His obvious dissatisfaction with the issue reached a new high in the true social post on July 16th.

“The (D-Democrat) new scam is what we’ll call Jeffrey Epstein’s hoax forever, and my past supporters bought this “bulls***” for the hook, line and sinker,” writes Trump. “Let these underdogs continue to move forward and do the Democrats’ work. Don’t even think about talking about our incredibly unprecedented success.

Trump later said that, according to a White House pool report, DOJ should release “reliable” records related to Epstein.

Which Republicans want more transparency in the Epstein Files?

Here are some notable Republicans who have spoken to the Trump administration since Bondi’s memo, in a call to release the files.

  • House Speaker Mike Johnson called for more transparency on the issue.
  • Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, also sought more transparency.
  • R-UTAH MP Mike Lee called on Gislane Maxwell to testify to Congress on Benny Johnson’s podcast, “The Benny Show.”
  • Turning Point USA head Charlie Kirk has listed 10 things he thinks he should do about the files and witnesses.
  • Rep. Lauren Beaubert said “Benny Shaw” was “not satisfied with what was received about that lack.”
  • “People want to see accountability,” said James Kommer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee.
  • Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of R-Georgia and Thomas Massie of R-Kentucky had a common petition enforced a House vote on the release of the file.

House Democrats have also introduced legislative measures to release the Epstein Files.

Why was Epstein convicted of?

Epstein was never tried, but he pleaded guilty in 2008 to solicit minors for prostitution in Florida. He was also a registered sex offender.

He died in New York in 2019 before he was tried for sex trafficking charges. He was found hanged in a solitary cell in a Manhattan prison, and inspectors decided he committed suicide.

When was Epstein caught and first charged?

The Epstein police investigation began in March 2005 after a woman from the Palm Beach area in Florida said her 14-year-old stepdaughter was abused by a wealthy man.

In July 2006, Epstein was charged by a high ju trial on felony charges of seeking prostitution that did not address the age of the 14-year-old victim. He was arrested and spent one night at the Palm Beach County Jail, and the next day he was released on a $3,000 bond.

Epstein has signed a non-access agreement called “Trades of the Century.” He pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting prostitution and soliciting minors for prostitution. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, where he was allowed to work six days a week/12 hours a day for 13 months.

When he was released from prison, he spent a year on house arrest, but was allowed to travel anywhere as long as he was back within 24 hours.

Is Donald Trump in the Epstein Files?

Trump has already appeared in Epstein’s crime legal documents, but never in any way hints at him.

In the 1990s, Trump rode an aircraft owned by Epstein, according to flight logs released in two lawsuits. But that was over 30 years ago.

Palm Beach County State Attorney’s documents featured images of message pad communications seized during a Palm Beach police search, but it is just Trump’s name and phone number.

Former Breonna Taylor Raid officials could face a one-day sentence: DOJ

0

Brett Hankison fired fire at Taylor’s apartment, but none of the rounds collided with Taylor or his neighbors. A new DOJ memo seeks a one-day sentence.

play

The Justice Department recommended a one-day prison sentence for former Louisville, Kentucky, and was convicted of violating Breana Taylor’s civil rights in a fatal police attack in March 2020.

Taylor, 26, was inside the apartment when he was fatally injured by a Plain Cross officer during a failed drug investigation at around 12:40am on March 13, 2020.

Brett Hankison fired 10 rounds into Taylor’s apartment through a covered glass door and window. The round, fired by Hankison, was not attacked by Taylor or his neighbors.

Hankison, who is scheduled to be sentenced July 21, faces the biggest life sentence in prison.

According to court documents, a preliminary text report prepared by the U.S. Probation Service recommended sentences between 11. 25 and 14 years. The Justice Department memo said the scope was miscalculated and was “excessive” and “said the court recommends “allowing a significant downward departure.”

The DOJ demanded that Hankison be sentenced to one day’s prison sentence instead. This is considered to be “already in service as the defendant gained credibility on the day he first appeared and was booked and his supervised release continued for three years.

What the Department of Justice Memo says

The Justice Department said in a memorandum of determination filed July 16th it “is not aware of another charge that officers were accused of repatriating the fire and depriving others of the rights to prevent anyone from getting injured,” he said.

“The government respects the ju-secretary verdict, which almost certainly guarantees that Hankison will not be able to serve as a law enforcement officer again, and that he will not legally own the firearm again,” the memorandum said. “However, adding statements within the long guidelines range, along with these results, would be unfair, even if properly calculated – in the government’s view, in these circumstances.”

The memorandum states that former President Joe Biden’s administration should not indict Hankison on civil rights charges.

“Indeed, a reasonable mind may oppose whether Hanksion’s actions constituted a seizure under the First Fourth Amendment,” the memorandum states. “…and a reasonable mind may certainly oppose it, even if Hankisson’s actions constitute a seizure, whether or not prosecution under this Act should be brought under these circumstances.”

Fees follow the failed attack

As police entered the apartment, Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, shot an officer in the foot. Walker later said he believed the officer was an intruder.

Hankison has been charged with federal charges for violating the civil rights of Taylor and three nearby neighbors. His first trial on these charges ended in 2023 with Mistral. In November, the second federal ju judge found Hankison guilty of violating Taylor’s civil rights, but acquitted him for separate numbers of violating his neighbor’s rights.

He is the only officer who has been charged with a crime and fired into an apartment to be convicted of the crime, despite an investigation into a warrant that approved the attack.

The U.S. Lawyer’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky, along with representatives from Taylor’s family, did not immediately return a request for comment.

Trump fires the daughter of a former FBI chief who indicted Epstein and Diddy

play

New York federal prosecutor Mohren Comey was fired on July 16th after working on prosecutors against Jeffrey Epstein, Gislaine Maxwell and Sean “Diddy” Combs, according to media reports citing sources familiar with the issue.

The reasons for the shooting reported by ABC News and Politico were not immediately clear. Comey, a Harvard Law School alumni and a longtime prosecutor at the Manhattan Federal Office in New York, is also the daughter of former FBI director James Comey, who was fired in 2017 by President Donald Trump and still had frequent rage.

According to Reuters, Mohren Comey was given a memo on her firing after realising that the president’s widespread constitutional authority would terminate her employees.

A spokesperson for the Department of Justice’s DC headquarters did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the termination of USA Today. Nicholas Bias, a spokesman for the US Lawyer’s Office in New York, declined to comment.

This week, Trump publicly complained as James Comey faced ongoing questions about why members of his team were not offering revelation and transparency promises regarding the government’s record regarding Epstein, a dishonest financial operator and sex offender. After the Justice Department and the FBI said in a Terse memo released last week they essentially closed books on the case, Trump said on July 15 that the government’s Epstein files were “constructed” by former FBI head and President Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

At the recent Sean “Diddy” Combs trial in Manhattan, Judge Arun Subramania often relied on Mohren Comey, one of the trial prosecutors in several cases, to seek knowledge about past judicial rulings and rules governing court proceedings. Comey’s team received a mixed verdict on its sex trafficking and prostitution cases, and Combs was acquitted of the most serious charges.

Comey and her colleagues indicted Epstein associate Githraine Maxwell in a sex trafficking case in 2021, convicted five of five of the six cases.

Wyndham Clark was reportedly banned by the Oakmont Country Club due to “recent actions” in the US

CNN

American golfer Wyndham Clark was reportedly banned by the Oakmont Country Club after he allegedly damaged the club’s esteemed locker room at the US Open in June.

According to a letter from Oakmont Country Club president John Lynch, the members sent the members saying they had obtained a Golf Digest (part of Warner Bros Discovery, like CNN).

“Some of you who asked about the circumstances in which Wyndham Clark is involved and the measures taken in response to recent actions, have decided that Mr. Clark will no longer be permitted on the OCC property,” the letter states.

“This decision will be effective unless formally reconsidered and approved by the Board. Reinstatement is subject to Mr. Clark who meets many specific conditions, including full repayment of damages, meaningful contributions to the charity of the Board’s choice, and successful completion of counseling and/or anger management sessions.”

CNN Sports has contacted the Oakmont Country Club for comments.

When approached by CNN Sports, the American Golf Association, the governing body of golf in the United States, declined to comment.

The Oakmont course irritated many of the world’s best golfers at this year’s US Open, with only winner JJ Spaun finishing on par.

In tricky circumstances, Clark, who won the US Open in 2023, finished with an eight-over par without making a cut to play on the weekend.

Clark won the US Open in 2023.

Following his missed cut, reports on social media circulated that Clark had caused damage to Oakmont’s locker after one of his rounds. A week later at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut, Clark apologised for his actions.

“I had a lot of highs and lows in my career, especially this year, with some lows. I made a deeper mistake of regretting it. I’m very sorry about what happened,” the 31-year-old told reporters at the tournament.

“But I would like to focus on what’s coming out not only for myself, but for Oakmont, for the USGA, and for the rest of the year. I’m still looking for a team for the Ryder Cup. I’m still looking for the FedEx Cup.

He wasn’t alone in the rage last weekend. Many players were seen throwing clubs, slamming them with frustration, and cursing their brutal courses.

This is not the first time Clark has expressed his anger on the course this season. At the 2025 PGA Championship, World No. 28th threw a club after a drive and injured the teebox.

The Oakmont Country Club is scheduled to host the US Open in 2033. Clark has an exception to appearing in the tournament through his 2023 victory.

The UK plans to lower voting age to 16 with landmark election reform

0

Reuters

The UK government said Thursday it planned to grant children, ages 16 and 17, the right to vote in all UK elections in a massive overhaul of the country’s democratic system.

The government said the proposed changes targeted for parliamentary approval are taking place across the UK to match voter rights to Scotland and Wales, with younger voters taking part in already delegated elections.

“We are taking action to break down barriers to participation that ensure that more people have an opportunity to engage in UK democracy,” Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner said in a statement.

According to a report from Congress, voter turnout in the 2024 general election was 59.7%, the lowest general election since 2001.

According to the House Library, studies from countries that reduced the voting age to 16 have not affected election outcomes, indicating that 16-year-olds are more likely to vote than those who first qualified at 18.

Workers who were elected for landslides a year ago and whose popularity fell sharply in the government, said that if they were elected, they would lower the voting age.

The reform will also expand acceptable voter IDs to include UK-issued bank cards and digital formats of existing IDs, such as driver’s licenses and veteran cards.

To tackle foreign interference, the government also said it plans to tighten rules on political contributions, including checking donations of more than £500 ($670) from unincorporated associations and closing loopholes used by shell companies.

Fear, guilt, pressure is the main reason you don’t take vacation

0

More than half of recently surveyed US workers say they are worried about taking all eligible paid leave.

About 9% of workers said they would actively block employers from taking all the time they owe.

On vacation? Many Americans work on holidays.

This is according to a recent poll of 1,003 employed workers conducted by job hunting service provider Pollfish on May 7th.

According to Livecareer, findings: Companies can take time off, but workplace culture can send different messages.

Can’t you see our graphics? Click here to view them.

Why are workers not taking holidays?

The survey results reflect the results of the Pew Research poll conducted in February 2023. 48% of the workers surveyed said they took all the time offered, while 46% said it took longer. Those workers:

Upper-revenue employees are more likely to have fewer days off than low-paid counterparts than what was offered, Pew said. Of those with university degrees, 51% said they compared 41% of those with less time and less education.

About 21% of black workers say they don’t take a break for fear of losing their jobs while 13% of white counterparts have the same concerns.

Pew said 52% of pay workers are more likely to reduce leave than hourly wages (39% of employees).

A Livecareer survey concluded that employees need “systems, support and security” to feel comfortable taking a break from work or charging.

Note that the breakdown of respondents on Livecareer Survey showed 54% of men and 46% of women. By age, 19% were between 18 and 27 years old. 27% were between 28 and 43 years old. 27% were 44-60 years old. 27% were between 61 and 79 years old.

As we know today, how Disneyland invented theme parks

0

play

  • Opened in 1955, Disneyland revolutionized the amusement park experience by creating immersive, story-driven lands.
  • Disneyland is a pioneer of new technologies such as audio animatronics and Advanced Ride Systems, and is now common in theme parks.
  • Disneyland continues to be a source of joy and inspiration for generations of guests, offering immersive storytelling and magical experiences.

If you’re enjoying a theme park or an immersive theme experience, there’s Disneyland to thank.

“It’s not about Disneyland, but half of what I said was that someone went to Disneyland and then they went home and tried to build their own Disney,” said filmmaker and theme park historian Kevin Perjler. “What’s as small as the local laser tag place has probably some designs with quality about Disneyland or at least what Imagineers do in their minds.”

That’s because it defined what Disneyland knows as the theme park today. This is the way.

The history of the park

Disneyland wasn’t the first amusement park or theme guest experience. The Tivoli Gardens, widely cited in Copenhagen, opened in 1843, more than a century before Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955. I also had experiences that featured global trade fairs.

What set Disneyland apart was “the concept of truly this utter immersion and a complete thematic experience relating to the storyline.” “I think creating a land that I was immersed in my space was something that Walt Disney ultimately changed and drove me to perfection.”

At Disneyland, guests can step into stories they already know and discover new things that Imagineers dream of, like the Disney legendary bob girl.

“I was one of the first 18 people assigned by Walt to work specifically in Disneyland’s design,” he said. “He always saw this as storytelling. Storytelling, you know you can draw, it’s a story. You can make a film, it’s a story… Or you can do it in 3D and call it an entertainment park.”

Inspiration from the movie

Bruce Vaughan, president and chief creative officer of Walt Disney Imaginarling, said Walt Disney and the original Imaginer have used filmmaking techniques to tell the story in the physical environment of the park.

“The cross is melting, so there’s a slow fade from the hub to the adventure land. There’s more than just a hard cut,” he explained. “Or, as if you’re going down Main Street, suddenly, in the distance, there’s this fantasy castle…it’s going to attract you.”

The park’s hub and spoke designs have been copied by parks around the world, but the caliber of Disneyland’s craftsmanship was not easily imitated.

“I mean, you’re pulling some of the greatest illustrators, some of the biggest sculptors, all these people hired by Disney,” Purger said. It highlights Disney is producing groundbreaking films like ’20, 000 Leagues when the park was built. “The film, the scenic designs blew people through, so the ability to walk around that level of scenic design and what is even trying to achieve that level of scenic design was undoubtedly shocking people.”

New technology

Over the years, Disney Imagineers have pioneered many new ways to tell stories.

Gurr remembers that Walt Disney invited him to the workshop when President Abraham Lincoln’s first audio Animatronic was secretly developed.

“He said, ‘Bobby, I want half my weight and twice my movement, and I want you to start now,” he said.

Lincoln Audio Animatronic captivated viewers at the 1964 New York World Fair and moved to Disneyland. There, Walt Disney’s new audio animatronics debuted at the resort’s 70.th Anniversary celebration. Audio animatronics have become popular in theme parks around the world.

Another guest of Disneyland’s innovation is another innovation that you can still experience today. This is ride technology from Indiana Jones Adventure.

“It’s an Indiana Jones story, so you have to feel like you’re off the road,” Vaughn said. “So you had to put a simulator on top of the vehicle to give you the feeling that you were over all of this terrain and that you were on the suspension bridge and a pigeon deeper than you actually did.”

He describes the Imaginer as more of a magician than an engineer, helping the guests to stop their disbelief and accept the childlike magic again.

Guests who want to maintain their magic can stay on the property of a Disneyland resort hotel. Whaal said he copied that other destinations around the world offered themed accommodation on the premises, featuring Disney models.

“A destination or attraction evolves from a one-day visit to a few days’ experience,” he said. “You can forget about your daily concerns, and people want to have it in the day, but they want to have it in the evening.”

Listen to the guests

One thing Disneyland guests were only early in the park was the first person form of the dark rides of Fantasyland.

“It was originally like a simulation where you were the main character of that story, and you were looking at the perspective while the film was from a third-party perspective,” Perjurer said. “You’re Snow White. You’re Peter Pan. You’re Toud…and the character wasn’t on the vehicle.”

These vehicles were reconsidered to include the protagonists of each story.

“We had to redesign a lot of details in the park to match how people actually behave,” Garh recalls, but that was fine. “(Disney) he wasn’t afraid to try and do things, even though he didn’t know how to do it, but he’s gotten quite good at a lot of things.”

Many other theme parks also offer what Vaughn calls a book report. But in a perfect circle moment, Disney’s new attraction invites guests again to become characters in a story like the Edge of Star Wars: Galaxy.

“You can pilot the Millennium Falcon,” Vaughn said. “You’re considered a spy, and I know that’s where Walt goes. One of my favorite things about Walt Disney was that he’s always immersed in the story.”

“Special place”

It is these experiential stories that have brought guests like David and Shelley Tsai back over the years.

They visited Disneyland over 100 times as Magic Key holders.

“For us, we feel almost the same way we first went there,” David told USA Today. “We see our grandchildren. We think about the past with our kids. They love almost the same attraction.”

Their family are some of the ones featured in Disneyland’s 70 new promotional videosth Anniversary, actual guests spotlight.

“Every time I go there, I feel very happy and I think I have a very good life,” Shelley said. “Disneyland is a special place for me.”

In his first day of Disneyland, Walt Disney said, “Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, dreams and difficult facts that have created America with the hope that it will be the source of all the joys and inspiration in the world.”

Seven decades later, it still does.

Lady Gagustrill of Mayhemball Tour: Concert Review

0

play

Las Vegas – Five songs for her concert, Lady Gaga ordered to be glade. my house. “

On the North American kickoff of her Mayhemball tour on July 16th, Gaga seized the stage at T-Mobile Arena on a cheeky melodrama, so no one dared to ask a question from anyone at the two-hour house.

Since the captivating Coachella set set in April, she has performed several shows around the world, but the Mayhemball Tour has been tweaked for optimal fan satisfaction. She will finish in Chicago in September and achieve multiple arena dates in Vegas and in cities that include two more in Vegas, including two more in Seattle, San Francisco, New York and Miami, before winning her sights all over the world.

The concert confirmed that Lady Gaga is the ultimate performer, along with a visual that evoked whether Alice in Wonderland rolled the rabbit hole into the arms of David Bowie and Marilyn Manson.

Four acts (and finale) with poetic names such as “Every Chessboard is Two Queen” and “Velvet and Vice” are a team of over 20 dancers, a team of robust bands that run through songs and sets that rival Broadway musicals.

This was a monster mash in the coolest sense, where feathered feathers and black lace bodies coexisted with swirling capes and knee-high marching boots. Pop goth from “Abracadabra”, “Love Game” from the disco feed, and “shallow” hearts crumbly with “shallow” sound. And, as Gaga reminded her towards the end of the show, everyone is welcomed and respected.

The songs from her latest studio album, Mayhem, owned about half of Gaga’s setlist. The theme of the new album explores the duality of chaos and wonder, darkness and light, as well as this fascinating production.

The background is a series of white pillars with scalloped edges, a blank palette of green lighting to accentuate the “Garden of Eden,” and a purple hue that accompanies the “killer,” a subtle nod to the Prince-influenced fun crocker.

Gaga often acted as a pipe piper in a parade of dancers, strumming and stomping on a half-length catwalk onto the arena floor. Despite her rock stepping with the Fleet Footed Theatre Company, Gaga sang like her 14 Grammy-winning great powers, smoldering with the strength of a chameleon that secured her respect as an actress.

She may be urging fans to “raising your legs” as she sprints through long blonde hair buried in a skeleton sandbox for “the perfect celebrity,” fierce commentary spilled from Crimson’s lips, or through “zombie boy” black tafeta gowns. And of course, the fierce burrows of her and the dancers flaunted under the plumage of a pillow for the delightful singer-lined “born this way.”

Typical of Gaga concerts, the elaborate sets are refreshing, and the costumes are Halloween dreams. But the most powerful moment is when she shelved the play measuring the twitching and breasts of a broken windup doll, and her pure voice erupts.

Her vocals were her own ballet during “Million Reasons,” which she played for the first time since 2020, but her charming version of “shallow” and “dying with a smile” resonated most deeply on the night.

Her slow ride on the gondola during “shallow” was a soothing visual of the gorgeous prayer that Ballard appears in this exciting solo version. As for “Die with a Smile,” Gaga slid behind the piano, leading a sold-out crowd in a smashed singalon with Bruno Mars, and easily slamming every big note.

Gaga lives in many personas in her professional life, but the beauty of her live performance lives in a quiet moment when she drops the character and becomes Stefani Germelta for a few minutes.

Her relationships with her fans are always paramount (“I love you more and more every year,” she said), and their shared idiosyncraticity is her currency. It doesn’t matter if Gaga is creating her “Art Pop” phase, jazz turns, or “Mayhem.”

Scotty Schaeffler arrives open with the opportunity to build on the rise of the meteor. That success does not satisfy him

0

CNN

Another major championship means another opportunity for Scotty Schaeffler.

The 29-year-old world No. 1, who won the third major in the May PGA Championship at Quazul Hollow Golf Club, is preferred to win the Open Championship at Royal Portrush this week.

By winning, Schaeffler has been supported by his patient approach to the game that led to 16 PGA Tour wins, three majors and counting.

If he wins the fourth major title in Northern Ireland, Schaeffler will add to his growing resume. The list of boys golfers who will win four major titles includes the father-son duo, welcomed from the golf home in St Andrews, Scotland, and the elderly and young Tom Morris of Ernie Elles, South Africa.

Also the third different major Schaeffler won, leaving him with a shy US open victory in a career grand slam. Only Jean Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have won all four male experts.

That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t make much sense to Schaeffler, who rarely discusses the historical interests of his victory. At a press conference at Royal Portrush on Tuesday, he discussed how quickly victory satisfaction will be scattered.

Before the 153rd Open Championship, Scotty Scheffler speaks to the media.

“It’s great to win a tournament. It’s so much fun,” Schaeffler told reporters. “Sometimes, emotions last only two minutes. When you’re celebrating, it’s like you have to do all this other thing right now.

Schaeffler’s unique entrance hinted at his traits that helped him reach his best on the course.

One of the reasons Schaeffler reached this point, and why he is a favorite this week, is his patience on the course. That’s the idea that was clear during his latest big victory.

Throughout the two rounds of the PGA Championship in May, Schaeffler was a three-stroke from leader Kim Si Woo-leader. He wasn’t playing brilliantly. He doubled the 16th hole to bogeys on Thursday, and admitted there was room for improvement after the opening round.

In the third round, Schaeffler played the first 13 holes at 1 under, sitting on two shots of Bryson Deccanbeau. However, he took advantage of the next five holes to paint the Eagle on the 14th par-4 load and birdie, a driveable par-4, to 15, 17, and 18.

Schaeffler put himself in the first 49 holes. But the last five holes on Saturday were what controlled him.

The final round was a challenge as Schaeffler was two overs on the front nine and became ties with Spain’s John Rahm.

But again, he closed tightly at 2 under 34 on the back nine. As he tapped to close the five-stroke victory, Schaeffler hugged his caddy Ted Scott, raising his arms in the air and slapping his hat on the ground.

Schaeffler won the 2025 PGA Championship at the Quazul Hollow Country Club in his third career major.

His focus and patience were rewarded once again.

“When I step on the tee on Thursday, I don’t think about what will happen on Sunday,” Schaeffler told reporters after winning the tournament. “I’m preparing for a 72 hole event. That’s what I say to myself on the first tee. It’s 72 holes. It’s a lot of time. It’s a lot of holes. It’s a lot of shots.”

Schaeffler’s patient approach has attracted praise from his peers. In the documentary released by the PGA Tour, which recorded Scheffler’s 2024 season, many pros, including two-time winners Morikawa and Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, came to terms with Scheffler’s patience and focus.

Woods, winner of 82 PGA Tour events and 15 majors, compared Schaeffler’s mindset to himself.

“It’s over 72 holes, not a sprint, this is above the marathon,” Woods said. “I think there are similarities in the way the game is played.”

That mentality has shined throughout the past three and a half years. However, it took Schaeffler a while to develop it.

“I think when I was younger, I’d hold it or explode,” Schaeffler said Tuesday. “Now I’m not only doing a better job of holding it, but I’ll take it over to the next shot and if that makes sense, I think I’m pretty much sharper my focus to where I’m in a better place after a bit of frustration than before.”

Before the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, Schaeffler was one of the best players on the PGA Tour without a victory. He won the Rookie of the Year honor in 2020 and won the top 20 in all six majors he competed in 2020 and 2021. He was part of the US team that won the 2021 Ryder Cup and knocked off Rahm.

But Schaeffler’s playoff victory over Patrick Cantrey in Phoenix was the launch pad.

“I’m sure I can get my first win under the belt and my first win is probably always the most difficult,” Schaeffler told reporters at the time.

Schaeffler won three more tournaments in 2022. This includes two tournaments, including his first major at the Masters and a player championship in 2023.

Schaeffler won the Green Jacket by 2021 Masters Champion Matsuyama Hideki after winning the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club in 2022.

In 2024, Schaeffler was a machine. He won gold at the Parisian Games and won eight times, including the Masters, Player Championship and Tour Championship. He became the first player to win at least seven events since Woods did that in 2007.

His encore this year was a month late as he suffered a hand injury he suffered while making ravioli for Christmas dinner. Schaeffler hadn’t won by the end of April, but he had already won four times at that point a year ago, but his worst finish was tied for 25th at the WM Phoenix Open. He also finished fourth in the title defense at the Masters.

In early May, Schaeffler won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson Tournament with an eight-stroke. His 31 under par 253 total is the lowest 72 hole in PGA Tour history.

His PGA Championship victory in Charlotte two weeks later made him his third player since World War II, winning three majors and over 15 PGA Tour events before he turned 29. Nicklaus and Woods.

Schaeffler chips during practice ahead of the 153rd Open Championship.

Nicklaus’ repeated victory in the commemorative tournament saw him win three in four tournaments. He and McIlroy are the only players to win the Tour three times this season.

If Schaeffler wins this weekend, his 2025 season will be a good match for 2024. This was his first season with two big wins, and continues to rise that Schaeffler himself cannot fully understand.

However, he insists that golf is not his main focus. His wife, Meredith, son, Bennett, and his faith all take away his day’s work.

“I think it’s a pretty cool feeling to have that kind of sense of accomplishment,” Schaeffler said Tuesday. “It’s very special to make your dream come true, but at the end of the day, I’m not here to inspire the next generation of golfers. I’m not here to inspire you to be the best player in the world.

“This is not a fulfilling life. It’s fulfilling from a sense of accomplishment, but not from the deepest sense of place in the mind.”

One thing is certain. All eyes are on his favourite Schaeffler to win his first open championship this weekend.

Russia will intensify its stranglehold on the Ukrainian battlefield as a Trump gift as a window for Putin 50 days

Advances the possibility of second-rate sanctions on US President Donald Trump’s 50-day suspension on Russia, we present the Kremlin with a window into leveraging its incremental profits over the last few weeks.

Russia is believed to be days or weeks away from rising summer attacks, probably using an army of 160,000 people that Ukrainian officials say are accumulating near the frontline. However, over the past two weeks, Russia has also put its strength in a better position to bring small but important advances and cut off the Ukrainian troops in three important towns, Pokrovsk, Kostiantinibka and Kupiansk, which are on the forefront of the eastern region.

The Kremlin appears to have not been hit by the new Trump deadline, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday. “50 days – it used to be 24 hours. Previously it was 100 days.

Analysts said the new time frame was successful for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s goals. Kiel Giles of Chatham House wrote Tuesday that during the diplomatic stage he also provided space to Moscow. “The 50-day deadline gives Russia plenty of time to develop its own alternative plan, and repeats Washington again through diplomatic ploys that Trump may be willing to accept… The latest extension of Trump’s latest extension to Putin will extend Ukraine’s suffering for the same any period.”

John Laff, head of foreign policy at the new Eurasian Strategic Centre think tank, said the summer attacks have already been ongoing for months and “Russians are undoubtedly bolstering their efforts both on the ground and in the air.” He said the recent onslaught of Ukrainian cities probably reflects slow progress at Moscow’s frontline, aiming to “support morale the population and zap the will to fight.”

“Putin is very confident that for several months Ukrainians are aware of the shortage of personnel in progress in this campaign, and there is a shortage of certain weapons systems,” Raf said, adding that Moscow wanted to make Ukraine’s defenses too thin. “I’m going to see it continue in at least 50 days.”

The incremental advances that Moscow made in these three towns were quite expensive. However, frontline mapping by Ukrainian surveillance service Deep State, as well as reports from the region, shows Russia’s progress to line up all three.

In the past 72 hours, Russian forces have approached Rosinke, a key settlement to the northeast of Pokrovsk, the main hub of Ukrainian forces, besieged by Moscow for several months.

This advance coincides with the west of Pokrovsk, where Russian troops are moving to surround the village of Udacine, allowing them to increase efficiency and challenge the supply route to Pokrovsk.

The Ukrainian commander, who passes through Call Sign Musicians and leads the drone company for the 38th Marine Corps Brigade, has been working near Pokrovsk since October. He told CNN that the Russian attack had been ongoing for a while. “We probably haven’t reached the peak yet,” he said. “But they’ve been moving forward for a while and they’re doing very well.”

The musician said that Rodynske’s defense was important. “The enemy understands this and relies on it. If they move forward from Rodynske, the situation becomes important. There is one or two roads out there, and they can control it, and logistics are blocked. That’s a logical move on the enemy’s side.”

He said reinforcements were urgently needed there or they were at risk for the repeated siege and retreats seen around the town of Avdivka in early 2024. The Ukrainian army was detained in Avdivka for several months until there was a lack of numbers and resources to maintain grip in the town.

Special Ukrainian police will evacuate some of the last civilians from Costantinibka, Ukraine on July 16, 2025. Residents there face daily fire.

Ukrainian military blogger Bodan Miloshnikov wrote that if Rodinke was captured, this would “complete the siege of the entire left flank” around Pokrovsk, adding an equally pessimistic rating on the right flank and south. “If this continues, there are few options left. There will be either a forced garrison to retreat under the threat of siege, or a fierce battle with a semi-siege with an unclear outlook.”

Russian military telegram channel “Voennaya Khronika”, translated into “military record”, said before that Pokrovsk would fall like Avdiivka and Bakhmut, “a frontal halt after consecutive flanks, pressure on the supply line, and strategic fatigue.”

Deepstate’s mapping also shows progress towards Kostyantynivka (another important hub in the eastern region), which Russia has approached quickly over the past two weeks From the southeastern and southwest, they are now mercilessly attacked by attack drones.

Ukrainian blogger And then go with serviceman stanislav buniatov, call sign Osman The advancement further brings Moscow’s troops to the Dnipropetrovsk region, an area that was originally not part of Putin’s territorial targets. Daily conflicts “will destroy 70-90% of the enemy’s personnel and equipment, but the enemy is moving forward and everyone understands why,” Osman writes.

Misleading reports from Ukrainian commanders to their superiors have been hindering their defense, Deep State posted Wednesday. “The majority of the enemy’s success is lying to reporting on the real-world status quo. This makes it difficult to assess risks and respond to changes in the situation from above. This is a major problem with devastating consequences. Lies destroy all of us.” The post highlighted the region south of Pokrovsk, as it is particularly vulnerable to the failure of this internal Ukrainian.

While Russian progress is heading north of Kupiansk, it presents another challenge to Kiev’s often over-stretched army. With Moscow’s advance from Holubivka since June 23rd, the settlement of Radkivka is now heading towards the management of key access roads north of Kupiansk.

Kupiansk is one of the main towns east of Ukraine’s second city, Kharkiv, and by managing it, it will help secure an estimated 1 million cities.
