Google Gemini Powers Us Govt is 0.47 agent AI transaction

0

Google Gemini will soon promote federal operations across the US government following a drastic new agreement between General Services Administration (GSA) and Google, which offers comprehensive AI capabilities at unprecedented pricing.

The “Gemini for the Government” offering, announced by the GSA, represents one of the most important AI procurement transactions to date. Under the OneGov agreement, which will be extended until 2026, federal agencies will be able to access Google’s full artificial intelligence stack for just $0.47 per generation. This is a pricing structure pointed out by industry observers and is extremely aggressive for enterprise-level AI services.

Comprehensive AI Suite for Government Business

The partnership is based on Google’s existing federal presence. The company already offers Google Workspace to all federal agencies with a 71% price cut. The new Gemini integration greatly expands this relationship and provides access to advanced AI tools, including NotebookLM powered by Google’s VEO technology, video and image generation capabilities, and AI agents pre-built for deep research and idea generation.

Michael Rigas, acting GSA administrator, said:

The service allows federal workers to develop custom AI agents, enabling potentially department-specific automation and workflow optimization. It includes Google’s enterprise search capabilities and powerful security features that cover identity management, threat protection, and compliance frameworks, including SOC2 type 2 authentication.

Strategic Timing and Market Impact

The announcement coincides with President Trump’s American AI Plan of Action and highlights commercial and cost-effective solutions in federal contracts in accordance with an executive order in April 2025. This timing is a strategic posting of Google against competitors such as Microsoft and Amazon.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai characterized the partnership as building on existing relationships. “Based on the provision of workspaces for federal employees, Gemini for Government for Government provides access to a full stacked approach to AI innovation, including tools such as NoteBookLM and VEO with the latest models and secure cloud infrastructure. ”

However, the structure of this transaction raises questions about long-term sustainability. The $0.47 per agency pricing appears to be designed to establish a market presence rather than immediate profitability. Google suggests that government adoption is seen as a strategic investment in penetrating the broader AI market.

Technical infrastructure and security considerations

Google’s cloud platform products address critical security requirements for government deployments and maintain high approval from FedRamp. The company’s optimized cloud services must handle sensitive government workloads while maintaining strict compliance standards.

Federal Acquisition Services Commissioner Josh Gruenbaum highlighted the flexibility aspects of procurement. “Critical, this offering provides important flexibility to partner institutions in the GSA market, ensuring the options needed to maintain a strong and resilient sourcing ecosystem.”

Market context and future implications

The announcement comes as federal agencies face pressure to modernize their operations through the adoption of AI. Pricing appears attractive to agents, but questions remain regarding implementation timelines, training requirements and long-term vendor dependency risks.

Karen Dahut, CEO of Google Public Sector, has positioned the deal as a milestone. “This collaboration marks a key milestone in our partnership with GSA and reaffirms our commitment to providing modern, efficient and scalable cloud solutions that help government agencies become more suited to Americans.”

$0.47 per agent price model raises immediate concerns about market distortions and the sustainability of such aggressive government contracts. Industry analysts have questioned whether this represents a true cost-effective or loss-leader strategy designed to lock agents into Google’s ecosystem before prices inevitably rise after 2026.

Moreover, the drastic scope of trading that keeps everything from basic productivity tools to custom AI agent development can create a risk of dangerous vendor concentration. In the event of a technical issue, security breach or contract dispute, the federal government can find itself reliant heavily on a single commercial provider for its critical operational capabilities.

This announcement does not have any specific metrics specifically for success, implementation timelines, or protection against vendor lock-in. This ultimately determines whether this represents a true modernization or expensive experimentation of taxpayer resources.

Trump Signal plans to expand controversial health insurance

0

play

With millions of people predicted to lose health insurance over the next decade, President Donald Trump’s administration appears to be ready to facilitate access to potentially inexpensive coverage.

The Department of Labor, Health and Human Services and Treasury said it would ease enforcement of Biden-era rules that restrict the use of a type of barebone health insurance known as short-term health insurance. Plans are usually inexpensive, but in many cases there is no protection for consumers who purchase their own health insurance.

Additionally, the three departments hope to draft new rules to consider changes to these insurance plans.

What is short-term health insurance?

Short-term insurance plans are often lower than affordable care methods plans, but come with catches. Insurance companies selling these plans do not offer all the robust benefits of an ACA plan. Also, unlike ACA plans, insurance companies can deny or limit coverage based on a person’s health.

However, some say these plans could appeal to healthy adults seeking cheap coverage as insurance costs rise and Affordable Care Acts are projected to rise and Affordable Care Acts are projected to leave 10 million people uninsured in the future, resulting in rising insurance costs and cutting down on Affordable Care Acts.

According to the CBO, if Congress makes the expired Covid-19 pandemic-era tax credits more affordable for consumers, an additional 4 million or more consumers could lose compensation.

With more people losing their insurance or no longer eligible for subsidized ACA plans, some people may “look at a comprehensive plan that offers at least some level of coverage,” says Michelle Long, senior policy manager for Patient and Consumer Protection at KFF, a health insurance nonprofit.

Will Trump expand his use of short-term plans again?

The Trump administration is once again taking steps to make these plans more accessible to insurers and consumers.

In a statement on August 7, the Department of Labor, Health, and Human Services and the Treasury said they “will not prioritize enforcement actions” on plans that do not meet the criteria of Biden-era regulations to ensure that short-term plans are restricted and businesses disclose service limits and cover the plans. The HHS will also “encourage states to adopt a similar approach,” reverting from enforcing the four-month limit on Biden’s short-term plan.

The three federal agencies also said they would draft new rules to change the definition of short-term plans and seek public comment. The agency did not provide a timeline as to when rules changes could be drafted.

White House spokesman Kush Desai said the Trump administration is “working to expand its affordable plans to increase health insurance options for Americans.”

“It’s an American interest to have more options and more competition in the insurance market,” Desai said.

Given that Trump previously allowed short-term plans to be extended by up to three years, “We generally expect us to be heading again,” said Justin Giovanneli, project director at the Center for Health Insurance Reform at Georgetown University’s Institute of Health Policy.

American Association of Ancillary Benefits, an industry group representing short-term health insurance companies, sued HHS in US District Court in Texas, attempting to suspend Biden’s 2024 rules. A federal judge ordered the case to be maintained and responded to HHS by August 28th, detailing plans to issue new rules on short-term planning.

It is also unclear whether the state will choose to reduce enforcement of Biden’s short-term planning restrictions.

Idaho proposes relaxation rules for short-term planning. Other states, such as California and Colorado, have banned or restricted short-term planning.

Even if the Trump administration eases oversight of its short-term plans, insurance companies are likely to be cautious about drafting more tolerant rules and selling the plans until they are finally finalized, said Michael Cannon, the Libertarian Cato Institute’s health policy directory.

eHealth, the online insurance market, allows consumers to register compared to short-term plans. The Trump administration signaled plans to ease restrictions on these plans, but eHealth officials have urged consumers to pay attention.

Whitney Stidom, Vice President of Consumer Realization at Ehealth, should be aware that consumers are less comprehensive than ACA plans and do not have preventive services, mental health or coverage for existing conditions.

“While short-term health insurance plans are valuable to those who are in between work or need limited coverage, it’s important for individuals to understand the limitations of these options and make informed choices,” says Stidom.

Democrats and Republicans have different short-term plans

For almost a decade, the legal status of short-term health insurance plans has depended on who was in the White House.

In 2016, then-President Barack Obama completed the rules that took effect in 2017 that restricted short-term insurance plans to three months. The move comes three years after the Democratic Signature Affordable Care Act overhauled the health insurance market and sold minimal benefits such as prescription drug coverage, emergency situations and maternity care. Also, ACA’s plans prevent insurers from denying or limiting coverage based on a person’s medical history – common practices prior to 2014.

In 2018, the Trump administration eased restrictions on these short-term plans. The Republican president’s administration allowed consumers to purchase plans up to one year and renew their coverage for up to three years.

In 2019, according to the House of Representatives’ Oversight Report in June 2020, roughly 3 million consumers signed a short-term plan sold by nine insurance companies.

In 2024, the Biden administration enacted rules regarding short-term health insurance.

Are there any benefits to short-term planning?

Giovannelli said that if you earn too much to qualify for ACA plan subsidies in good health, short-term planning can be a viable option for consumers who are eligible for ACA plan subsidies.

An example would be someone who has been uninsured due to unemployment or another change in their living environment.

However, Giovannelli said these plans are more of a halt for consumers.

“If that’s not the case, selling that product as an alternative to comprehensive coverage is extremely dangerous,” Giovanneli said. “If you’re healthy, you’ll have lower costs for advance payments, but there are no rules for all the backend costs.”

These plans may include annual or lifetime coverage restrictions. Neither is permitted under the ACA plan.

Cannon said Biden’s four-month restrictions on these plans would harm people who get sick while covered. He said healthy people could theoretically stack these plans, buy one after another from different insurance companies, and maintain coverage. However, short-term health insurance companies can deny coverage based on a person’s medical history, so short-term insurance customers diagnosed with a new illness will not qualify for the new plan.

“The rules hurt people who get expensive illnesses and can’t buy another plan,” Cannon said.

North Carolina men cannot update their short-term plans

Charlotte, North Carolina resident Steve Swisegood purchased a short-term plan sold by UnitedHealthcare more than two years ago.

The 59-year-old said his insurance is a “terrifying plan” because it limits the number of doctor visits his family can make each year. He also has to pay more pockets for everyday items such as vaccinations and prescriptions.

However, the press worked for him. His insurance costs $900 a month to cover him, his wife, and his college son. The costs are primarily covered by his former employer, NBC News. NBCNews will pay a monthly scholarship to his health insurance as part of his early retirement benefits. He will forfeit your NBC insurance payment if he receives another full-time job or ACA health insurance subsidy.

He said if he chooses an ACA plan it would cost an additional $800 a month. His family is healthy and doesn’t visit doctors frequently, which makes him irritated. Even the limited coverage of his short-term plans, it works for his family. He doesn’t know what he will do when his plans expire at the end of the year.

“As a consumer, I don’t want to spend more money than I have to,” Swisgood said. “What really infuriates me is in Washington (DC) playing these political games. That’s obviously what happened with this kind of insurance.”

Use AI for corporate cybersecurity

0

Cybersecurity is in the midst of a fresh arms race, and the weapon of powerful choice in this new era is AI.

AI offers a classic double-edged sword. A powerful shield for defenders and a powerful new tool for those with malicious intent. Navigating this complex battlefield requires a deep understanding of both the steady hands and the technology and those who abuse it.

To get a view from the forefront, AI News has caught up with Rachel James, Headmaster of global biopharmaceutical company Abbvie.

For an article on business cybersecurity in this new era, headshot of Rachel James, Principal AI ML Threat Intelligence Engineer at global biopharmaceutical company Abbvie.

“In addition to augmenting the build-in AI that the current tool offers vendors, we also use LLM analysis of detection, observation, correlation and related rules,” explains James.

James and her team use a massive language model to sift through mountains of security alerts, search for patterns, find duplicates, and find dangerous gaps in defense before attackers can.

“We use this to determine similarity, replication and provide gap analysis,” she adds, saying the next step is to weave more external threat data. “We are trying to enhance this by integrating threat intelligence in the next phase.”

At the heart of this operation is a professional threat intelligence platform called OpenCti. This helps to build a unified image of threats from the ocean of digital noise.

AI is the engine that enables this cybersecurity effort, employing a huge amount of cluttered, unstructured text and neatly organized into a standard format known as STIX. According to James, the epic vision is to use a language model to link this core intelligence to all other areas of security operations, from vulnerability management to third-party risks.

However, healthy doses are required to harness this power. As a key contributor to major industry initiatives, James is keenly aware of the pitfalls.

“If I didn’t mention the work of the amazing group of people I’m involved in, I would repent. The basic way to understand the vulnerabilities Genai can introduce is “Genai’s Owasp Top 10,” she says.

Beyond certain vulnerabilities, James points out three fundamental trade-offs that business leaders must face.

  1. Accepts the risks associated with the unpredictable nature of creative but often generative AI.
  2. Loss of transparency in the way AI reaches conclusions is a problem that only grows as the model becomes more complex.
  3. Risk hype that inadequately determines the true return on investment of AI projects can easily overestimate the benefits or underestimate the efforts needed in such rapidly moving areas.

To build a better cybersecurity attitude in the age of AI, we need to understand attackers. This is where James’ deep expertise comes into play.

“This is actually my specific expertise. I have a background in cyberthreat intelligence and have conducted and documented extensive research into the interest, use, and AI development of threat actors,” she points out.

James actively tracks enemy chatter and tool development through her open source channels and her own automated collections, sharing her findings on her Cybers Jinjitbu. Her job includes getting her hands dirty.

“As a lead in OWASP’s rapid injection entry and co-author of the Red Team Genai Guide, I will spend my time developing my own hostile input techniques and maintaining a network of experts in this field,” adds James.

So, what does this mean for the future of the industry? For James, the path to advance is clear. She points to the fascinating parallels she discovered several years ago. “The cyberthreat intelligence lifecycle is roughly the same as the data science lifecycle underlying an AI ML system.”

This alignment is a great opportunity. “Undoubtedly, in terms of data sets we can manipulate, defenders have a unique opportunity to harness the power of intelligence data sharing and AI,” she argues.

Her final message provides both encouragement and warning to fellow peers in the cybersecurity world. “Data science and AI will become part of the lives of all cybersecurity professionals moving forward.

Rachel James shares this year’s insight AI & Big Data Expo Europe In Amsterdam from September 24th to 25th, 2025. Be sure to check out the second day’s presentation on “From Principles to Practice – Embedding AI Ethics on a Large-Scale.”

Typhoon Kajiki: Thousands of people have been evacuated and flights cancelled as equipment to Vietnam land due to a powerful storm have been cancelled

0

Vietnam has closed schools, airports and airports, evacuated thousands of people, and powerful typhoon swordfish landed on Monday, threatening the country’s northeast with destructive winds and storm surges.

The typhoon knocked down trees and immersed China’s South Hainan Island on Sunday before moving overnight through the Gulf of Tonkin at a sustained wind speed of 166 kph (103 mph) (103 mph).

More than 40,000 people were evacuated in a lowland coastal community on Monday morning. According to the state-run VN Express. The provincial Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reports that residents are being told not to leave their homes from 11am to 6pm local time.

The marlin is the fifth typhoon to hit Vietnam this year, and is the most powerful, maintaining a strong temper towards the coast.

Vietnam’s national media said ahead of the landfall, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Ching warned that the storm could unleash heavy rains, flash floods and landslides.

“This is a very dangerous and fast storm,” the government said in a statement Sunday night, Reuters reported.

Marlins are expected to land in the central province of Tan Hua and nghe in the late afternoon evening local time either as a weak typhoon or a strong tropical storm. Thanh Hoa is approximately 166 kilometers (103 miles) south of Hanoi.

Officials compared the typhoon to Typhoon Yagi, the most powerful storm last year, devastated the north of Vietnam, killing about 300 people and causing extensive damage to infrastructure, factories and farmland. The goats made landfall, equivalent to a Category 4 hurricane. Marlins are weak, but are expected to pose destructive winds and flood threats.

People will take shelter in a local gymnasium in Vinh City, Vinh City, on August 25th, 2025. Before the marlins landed in Vietnam.

Images posted by state media show residents and business owners boarded windows and stacked land outside their homes, restaurants and hotels.

On Monday, the country’s Civil Aviation Authority closed airports in two central Vietnam provinces, and Vietnam’s airlines cancelled or delayed dozens of flights as typhoons approached, provincial media reported. Thanh Hoa schools also reportedly closed for two days.

Authorities in the country’s central state on Sunday stimulated emergency measures, according to the VNA.

More than 300,000 service members were mobilized on standby for the Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and rescue operations, according to the press.

A storm surge of up to 1.5 metres is predicted at sea level in some areas, which are expected to reach over 3.5 metres, and there is concern for those living in the northeastern and many of the central coast of the lowlands.

Heavy rain and wind from marlins are fearful that storm paths will flood farms and villages, destroy crops and kill livestock.

China’s weather centre said storms will cause heavy rains in 13 provinces in central and northern Thailand as they move inland, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides. Rain is forecast in some areas between 200 and 400 mm, with isolated areas exceeding 600 mm.

The Joint Typhoon Warning Centre predicts marlins will be weaker on the land and will fall to the intensity of tropical depression by early Tuesday.

On August 25th, 2025, in Sanya, China, the marlin brings strong winds and heavy rain, causing cars to drive on a flooded street.

Typhoon Marlin passed the southern coast of China’s Hainan Island and parts of Guangdong on Sunday evening. Sanya city on Hainan Island, known for its sandy beaches, luxury resorts and duty-free shopping, has suspended tourist attractions, closed businesses and public transport.

Authorities have energized emergency response as heavy rains and strong winds hit the city and surrounding areas. The video posted on Sanya’s social media showed people falling on a tree, falling across the road in a strong wind, struggling to stand, and in one clip, people on mopeds could be seen trapped under the fallen tree.

Sanya issued the Red Typhoon Alert on Sunday morning – the best in China’s color-coded warning system – and raised emergency response to the most serious levels. The alert was downgraded Monday morning, but heavy rain and storms are expected to continue in the southern South Sea, Reuters reported.

Elyn Patterson Hearing: The only survivor of Australia’s mushroom poisoning feels “half alive” after the murder of his wife and friend

0

Melbourne, Australia
AP
–

The only survivor of the deadly lunch mixed with toxic mushrooms felt that he was only half alive on Monday after the death of his wife, and he said he continued to grieve over the loss of his two closest friends.

Ian Wilkinson read the first victim impact statement in the Victoria Supreme Court at the hearing of Erin Patterson’s ruling.

Ju-dean killed 50-year-old Patterson in July, in July 2023, during lunch with Death Mushroom, who foraged Wilkinson’s wife Heather Wilkinson, sister Gail Patterson, and husband Don Patterson.

Erin Patterson was also found guilty of spending several weeks in the hospital and attempting to kill Ian Wilkinson, who survived after receiving a liver transplant.

Wilkinson, a Baptist pastor, described his wife as a woman who takes faith seriously and is full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, kindness, faithfulness and self-control.

“I feel like I’m only half alive without her,” Wilkinson said before crying.

“It’s one of the tragic shortcomings of our society, with very little attention being paid to those who do evil and those who do good,” he added.

He described Gale and Don Patterson, parents of Simon Patterson, Erin Patterson’s estranged husband, as the people closest to him after his wife and family.

“My life is greatly impoverished without them,” Wilkinson said.

“I suffer from Erin acting in merciless and calculated neglect of my life and the lives of those I love. Do you have the stupidity to think that murder is the solution to her own problems, especially the murder of those who have nothing but good intentions towards her?” he added.

Wilkinson offered Patterson his forgiveness for the harm she had done to him.

“I say, ‘The harm that was inflicted on me.’ We have no power or responsibility to forgive the harm caused to others,” Wilkinson said.

“My prayer for her is that she should use her time wisely in prison to become a better person,” he added.

Erin Patterson attended Melbourne Court in person on Monday, rather than watching it via video links from the prison that he attended at the hearing earlier this month. She wore a light brown jacket and a paisley top.

The relatives of seven victims either read the impact statement or asked the court to read it on their behalf on Monday.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled to continue on Tuesday.

She faces a potential life sentence for each of the murders and 25 years of attempted murder.

Following Trump’s lead, Netanyahu will shift strategy with a ceasefire even after Hamas accepts

0

Tel Aviv
–

Almost a week after Hamas accepted the latest Gaza ceasefire proposal from Qatar and Egyptian mediators, Israel has yet to respond – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims that it is “quickly” starting negotiations to free all hostages and end the war.

The silence reflects a fundamental shift in Israel’s approach that has baffled the remaining hostage families and families who accused Netanyahu of abandoning and sacrificing their loved ones.

After agreeing only to a partial, gradual ceasefire deal for 18 months, Netanyahu is now calling for a comprehensive agreement to secure the release of all hostages and end the war on Israeli terms in full. The policy reversal comes when the Prime Minister simultaneously accelerates his plans for a massive military attack in Gaza city and pursues a dual strategy of negotiations while engaging in war to “fall over Hamas.”

On Thursday, Netanyahu declared that he had instructed his team to immediately begin negotiations for the return of all hostages and end the war in Gaza. But he did so now without mentioning the proposal on the table. This calls for a temporary ceasefire in exchange for half the hostage release. The latest proposal is similar to the 60-day ceasefire agreed last month, only in terms of more favorable to Israel after Hamas showed flexibility in the number of prisoners to be released and the size of security perimeters.

At the same time, Netanyahu emphasized that he would continue to advance the Israeli Defence Forces’ plans (IDF) on a massive attack and acquisition of Gaza city. Israel says Hamas’ concessions stem from the threat of an imminent attack on Gaza, and Israeli officials believe that a new threat of heavy military pressure will make Hamas more flexible to accept Israeli conditions.

Israel has long argued that military pressure would push Hamas up to the table, but terrorist groups have denied defeat despite nearly two years of fighting.

The protesters demanded the immediate release of Hamas' hostages, cutting off the road during protests demanding that the Israeli government reverse the decision to overturn Gaza city and other parts of the Gaza Strip near Jerusalem, Israel, and turn it back on August 17, 2025.

Netanyahu does not explain what caused this dramatic change from this partial replacement to a comprehensive negotiation framework. His mixed message has confused many people in Israel and abroad. The government refused to discuss the end of the war and agreed to negotiate a gradual and partial ceasefire agreement. Currently, he has only chosen comprehensive deals and has been reluctant to respond to the latest proposals of the mediators that Hamas has accepted.

Basem Naim, a senior member of Hamas Political Bureau, said in a statement: Naim said Netanyahu has a “green light” from the Trump administration.

According to senior Israeli sources, the answer to Netanyahu’s new negotiation strategy lies in Washington, not Jerusalem. In recent weeks, US President Donald Trump has expressed his explicit public support for Israel’s new assault in Gaza, and has adopted Israeli rhetoric with the aim of destroying Hamas, instead of pushing for a temporary ceasefire.

“We can see the rest of the hostages return when Hamas faces and is destroyed!!! The more this happens, the better your chances of success.”

According to senior Israeli sources, after Hamas raised obstacles during its final negotiations in Qatar in July, Trump “losts patience and trust in the partial process and doesn’t think Hamas actually wants to trade.”

The echo says that after the latest speech collapses, his envoy Steve Witkov has collapsed, accusing Hamas of not being coordinated, and that he has not acted in good faith, and that the US will explore alternative options to ensure hostage release and stabilize Gaza.

“It’s so bad. Hamas really didn’t want to make a deal. They want to die,” Trump told reporters outside the White House at the time. Shortly after the comment, Netanyahu’s office moved on to a “all or nothing” approach, demanding a comprehensive deal.

At the latest Israeli Security Cabinet meeting, which approved the Netanyahu government’s decision to expand and deepen its operations in Gaza, five conditions were set to end the war. It is not the disarmament of Hamas, the release of all hostages, the demilitarization of Gaza while maintaining Israel’s security controls, and the establishment of Ham-no-Ham-no-Palestonian authority.

But Hamas draws a red line with the concept of disarming. According to Israeli analysts, Netanyahu’s double recall – pursuing war and peace is a political tactic to buy time. It extends the war and his own rules.

“Netanyahu is fully aware that Hamas will never accept his terms to end the war, and that’s exactly what he is saying,” Chime Levinson, a senior diplomatic commentator at the Israeli Harletz newspaper, told CNN. Netanyahu’s demand for territorial control over Gaza’s massive Swas “is likely to derail the potential agreement.”

The man will walk between the mountains of tile rub in the Safty district west of Jabaria in the northern Gaza Strip, on August 24, 2025 amid an ongoing war between Israeli and Palestinian Hamas extremist groups.

Netanyahu called for full Israeli security control over Gaza in a postwar scenario, a scenario in which Israel reserves the right to carry out a strike in Gaza. “Under these conditions, no one will invest in Gaza as the territory remains trapped in a state of ongoing conflict,” Levinson said.

Repeated polls have shown that the majority of Israeli people support all deals that will bring back hostages – Netanyahu’s far-right coalition partners Itamaru Ben Gwil and Bezalel Smotrich warned that they could be opposed to ceasefires and warfares, which could lead to the collapse of his government.

Because of that obvious threat, all previous hostage trades were designed as incremental and progressive, according to Israeli sources with knowledge of negotiations. A partial approach allowed Netanyahu to promise his allied partners that Israel would eventually resume the war.

Netanyahu’s far-right allies are pressing Israeli leaders to expand the war and to intensify the bombardment of the devastated enclave until Hamas surrenders.

Matthew Miller, a former State Department spokesman, said the Biden administration believes Netanyahu is shaking obstacles to the ceasefire agreement. “We wanted to make it public and make it clear that the Prime Minister thought it was totally condemned and difficult to make a deal,” he told Israeli Channel 13.

The perceived dual message of the Prime Minister’s latest maneuvering escalated tensions between his government and the rest of the hostage families in Gaza. Families, who have been increasing public pressure since the Cabinet approved the attack on Gaza City, have accused the government of sacrificing hostages by delaying or rejecting partial agreements at the table.

Hostage families are scheduled another protest Tuesday night after Israel launched its biggest anti-war protest since the start of the conflict nearly two years ago, trying to maintain pressure on the government where they find deaf to their cry of pain.

Einav Zangarkar, Matan’s mother, who is being held hostage in Gaza, has accused Netanyahu of a torpedo in negotiations. “You will set unattainable conditions to end the war and lead soldiers to a death trap as the army prepares to conquer Gaza,” she said at a demonstration outside the prime minister’s settlement on Friday night. “You will put Matan to death, you will disappear forever!”

In an attempt to dispel public criticism, Netanyahu’s office explained to Israeli reporters over the weekend that it would send a negotiation team as soon as a meeting place was set up.

However, if there is no site selected for the next attempt at ceasefire negotiations, and as the US team is tied up with Ukraine and Russia, Netanyahu can pursue his dual strategy.

In addition to your career revenue, the age you claim Social Security directly affects how much your monthly profits are affecting.

The earliest you can claim is 62, but doing so will reduce your monthly profit by 30% from your primary insurance amount. Delaying benefits increases monthly until your FRA turns 70. For people born after 1960, their FRA is 67.

As of the end of 2024, the average monthly benefit for retired workers at 62 was $1,342, or $16,104 per year.

Small checks by claiming at age 62 may not be ideal for everyone, but they are useful for those who need immediate financial support or prefer to access early to use it. Whatever your plan is, there is an age where you claim to permanently affect your benefits amount, so weigh the trade-off between early claims and waiting.

Donald Trump threatens Chris Christie with a new “bridgegate” probe

Trump’s threat to the former New Jersey governor comes after the FBI searched the home and office of another Trump critic, former national security adviser John Bolton, as part of a criminal investigation.

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump threatened to open an investigation targeting Chris Christie about the 10-year-old “Bridgegate” scandal of the former New Jersey governor after Christie criticised Trump on television earlier in the day.

The threat comes days after the FBI searched the home and office of John Bolton, a former national security adviser, another Trump critic, as part of an open criminal investigation. Trump slammed into former friend-turned enemy Christie on the evening of August 24th on True Social, saying he only saw “sloppy Chris Christie” on ABC this week.

“Can everyone believe what the sloppy Chris says?” Trump wrote. “Remember how you lied about the dangerous and fatal closure of George Washington Bridge? To get away from prison, you sacrificed people who worked for him at the same time, and at the same time, you sacrificed people, including your young mother, who were trying to make a vicious accusation against her.”

Trump added: “Chris refused to be held responsible for these criminal acts. For justice, perhaps we should start looking at that very serious situation again? No one is beyond the law!”

As New Jersey’s Republican governor, Christie’s “Bridgegate” scandal came in 2013 when the top officials in his administration ordered the closure of access lanes to the George Washington Bridge in a bizarre scheme to create traffic jams to return to the Democratic mayor who did not support Christie’s reelection bid.

Christie was not charged with a crime, but two officials in his administration overturned a federal conviction in 2020, while two officials in his administration were there.

Christie, a former close Trump alliance who led Trump’s 2016 presidential transition team, is today one of the president’s most outspoken Republican critics. Christie was the only Republican candidate to regularly attack Trump in the 2024 Republican primary.

Trump did not specify what Christie said in the ABC look that caused him. Christie accused Trump of politicizing the Justice Department when he was interviewed on the show.

“We were told this is what he was trying to do,” Christie said. “Not me, it’s by Donald Trump during the 2024 campaign. He said he was trying to do this. He said he has a Department of Justice that will act as a personal legal representative. That’s what they’re doing.”

Christie made a jab with Trump for searching for FBIs in Bethesda, Maryland, home and Washington, DC offices.

“I think it’s a bit funny to hear the president speak about information that was classified as Bolton in the way he does, but when he classified the information, the same rules didn’t apply,” Christie said.

In an interview “This Week,” Christie also suggested comments from Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice, Gislaine Maxwell. There, Trump is praised for being “heartedly” and “kind” as saying he has not committed any crimes of fraud.

“She said she might have taken Donald Trump, or President Trump, “No one who can forgive me has ever done anything wrong. People who can forgive me have always been great,” Christie said.

France summons Ambassador Charles Kushner with anti-Semitism letters

0

The French Foreign Ministry summoned the country’s US ambassador, Charles Kushner, after writing a letter to the French government accusing them of “lack of sufficient action” to stand up against anti-Semitism.

France strongly rejected Kushner’s letter’s “unacceptable” allegations. The department said it “does not reach the quality of the transatlantic relations between the US and France.”

“The rise in anti-Semitism practices in France since October 7, 2023 is a reality that we are grieving and the French authorities are fully committed to given the tolerance of these practices,” the ministry said in a statement.

On Monday, Kushner will be summoned to the headquarters of the provincial in Paris, the statement added.

State Department spokesman Tommy Piggott asked if the Trump administration was standing in Kushner’s comments. “Yes, we support his comments. Ambassador Kushner is a representative of the US government in France and does an incredible job of advancing the national interests in that role.” CNN reached out to the White House for comment.

According to a copy of a letter shared with CNN by the US Embassy, Kushner said he wrote it out of “deep concern” over the situation in France.

“Anti-Semitism has long been hurting French life, but it exploded since the wild attack in Hamas on October 7, 2023,” writes Ivanka Trump’s stepfather, Kushner. “Since then, Prohama extremists and radical activists have been campaigning for threats and violence across Europe.”

The letter dated Monday, August 25th was issued to French President Emmanuel Macron.

Confirmed in his post in May, Kushner urged Macron to “without exception” enforce the hate crimes law and make more effort to ensure the safety of the Jewish community.

“In France, there is no day when Jews attacked on the streets, synagogues and schools have not been tainted, or Jewish-owned businesses have not been destroyed,” he said.

“A public statement gestures towards recognizing the brave extremists, fuel violence and the lives of French Jews in Israel and Palestinian states to endanger the lives of French Jews,” Kushner wrote in response to his announcement of plans to acknowledge the Palestinian state in September.

He also advised the French president to “waive any measures that would justify Hamas and its allies,” pointing to President Donald Trump’s actions in the United States.

“President Trump and I have Jewish children and share Jewish grandchildren. Like all Americans, I know how he feels about anti-Semitism,” he said in the letter.

Last week, Israel launched a series of diplomatic attacks in September against some of its Western allies preparing to recognize the Palestinian state.

This included a strong-worded letter from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Macron, accusing France of making the decision to “reward Hamas terrorist attacks.”

“The Palestinian national call will fuel this anti-Semitic fire,” Netanyahu wrote in a letter obtained by CNN.

France says the move is intended to revive the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and bring peace to the region, but Israel and the US call Hamas’ terrifying rewards that retreat only efforts for peace.

Macron says France’s plan to recognize the Palestinian state is consistent with “a historic commitment to just and lasting peace in the Middle East.”

Australia and France are two of the latest Western countries to announce plans to recognize the Palestinian state. Canada and Portugal have also announced similar intentions. Next month, they will join more than 140 other countries already recognizing the Palestinian state.

The UK has conditionally stated that it will recognize the Palestinian state if Israel fails to meet the criteria that includes agreeing to a ceasefire in Gaza.

  • Playboy is moving its global headquarters from Los Angeles to Miami Beach, Florida.
  • The move is part of a playboy strategy that stimulates brands and aligns with dynamic cities.
  • Playboy cited Miami Beach’s vibrant, business-friendly environment as a key factor in the decision.

One of the most well-known and controversial media brands is making Florida a new home.

On August 13, Playboy announced that it would move its global headquarters from Los Angeles to Florida.

In a press release, Playboy officials said the move reflects the company’s commitment to working with one of Miami Beach, one of the most dynamic, culturally relevant and business-friendly cities in the country. He also said the decision comes from its aim to regain its status as “one of the most enduring and influential lifestyle and media brands in the world.”

“Miami Beach is one of the most dynamic and culturally influential cities in the country and is an ideal base for Playboy’s next chapter,” says Playboy, Inc. CEO Benkorn said in a statement.

“Our vision is to create world-class content and experiences that resonate globally. Miami Beach provides the perfect environment for its ambitions. The city of Miami Beach has been an outstanding partner throughout this process.

What is Playboy? A magazine started by the late Hugh Hefner

Playboy was an American men’s lifestyle and entertainment magazine founded in 1953 in Chicago by entrepreneur and publisher Hugh Hefner. It focused on revealing photographs and articles about women called “playmates” or “bunny.”

For decades, the Playboy brand grew into a global media and entertainment empire, opening the Playboy Club, filming TV specials, and celebrities have made their appearance on the cover. According to The New York Times, the magazine saw a distribution rate of 7 million at its peak in 1971.

Hefner passed away in 2017 at the age of 91. In 2020, the company announced that it would be suspended from printing operations and only online. However, they announced that the “annual print edition” will return in 2024.

From the beginning, the brand attracted criticism and controversy, “oversexualizing women and promoting a misogyny culture.” Former playmates and employees also came out to share stories of alleged abuse and sexual harassment by Hefner and the company.

In response to a 2022 documentary detailing the horrifying accusations against Hefner and the company, Playboy issued a statement saying, “Playboy today is not Hefner’s Playboy.”

“We are a strong supporter of these women and the individuals who have made progress in trusting, verifying and sharing their stories,” Playboy said in a statement. “Listening is very important.”

Where is the new Playboy Global HQ?

According to a press release, the new global headquarters will be located in Ribani Miami Beach, the development of 1691 Michigan Avenue.

The move says it will establish a content studio to support Playboy’s growing network of creators and produce original multimedia content across digital platforms such as podcasts, photography and other media ventures.

“We are excited to welcome Playboy’s global headquarters as Miami Beach continues to establish itself as one of the world’s leading cities, conduct business and continue to run business,” said Joseph Magazine, Commissioner of the City of Miami Beach, about the move.

“This move is expected to bring a significant number of paying jobs to our cities, and will strengthen our commitment to fostering innovation, cultural vitality and economic growth in collaboration with one of the most iconic brands in history.”

New Playboy Club to Miami

In addition to the move, a new Playboy Club will open in Miami Beach.

The club details the “world-class restaurants bring the brand’s famous heritage to one of the world’s most lively destinations, along with exclusive members-only spaces inspired by the renowned Playboy Mansion.”

According to the Miami New Times, Miami was previously home to the Playboy Club from 1961 to 1985.

California and Oregon wildfires grow amidst a swell of heat waves

Firefighters were fighting fast wildfires in California’s Wine Country and Central Oregon as hot, dry weather on the weekend increased the risk of wildfires in the West of the United States.

The swelling heat waves remaining in the west prompted extreme heat warnings and clocks, monitoring parts of the Southwest Desert, California, Washington and Oregon. Several high temperature records have recently been broken in northwestern Oregon and southwestern Washington, with heat warnings and recommendations expected to remain until August 26th.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, high temperatures and low humidity combined with dry winds and low humidity promoted the growth conditions of existing and new fires. Several wildfires have already erupted in parts of the west, including Oregon and Napa County in California.

“The heat, dry, unstable weather continues in most of the West, with very low humidity and thunderstorms that can lead to both lightning and gusts of wind,” the National Ministries’ Fire Centre said in a news release on August 24. “These conditions mean that any spark, whether it’s people or nature, can grow rapidly.”

The Pickett fire occurred on August 21 near Calistoga in Napa County, growing about two hours after consuming a few acres around 3:30pm local time. By the afternoon of August 24th, the flame had grown to over 6,800 acres, including 11%.

Oregon’s flat fire, the state’s largest active wildfire this year, began on August 21st and grew rapidly in dry, hot and windy conditions. On August 24, the fire, located two miles northeast of the sisters, a small town in central Oregon, reached an estimated 21,971 acres and was not suppressed, according to fire information in central Oregon.

The causes of the two fires were under investigation, fire information for Cal Fire and Central Oregon said.

Picket Fire

The Pickett fire broke out into the same area where the glass fire was burning in 2020 after it caught fire on rugged terrain on the northern outskirts of Calistoga, a small town in the Napa Valley.

In an August 24 update, Calfire said the Picket Fire increased 1,841 acres on August 23, increasing “many of the activity observed at the eastern edge of the fire.” The agency added that fire activity was midnight overnight as five night-flying helicopters supported the ground fire truck, dozers and hand crew.

More than 1,200 staff members, as well as multiple helicopters for targeted water droplets and air tankers for firefighters, have been assigned to the picket fire, according to Cal Fire. Firefighters also completed operations in areas near the fire, eliminating unburned fuel between the control line and the main fire.

An assessment of the damage is ongoing and Cal Fire said there are no reports of damaged or destroyed structures in the area. The Democrats, a local newspaper in Sonoma and Napa counties, reported that about 190 people had been evacuated on August 24th, and 360 others had been evacuated warnings.

“Structural protection remains a priority as fires are burning near the community,” according to Cal Fire. “Firemen are actively engaged in the protection of their homes and other structures, particularly in areas such as Aetna Springs Road and Butts Canyon Road.

Cal Fire noted that the hot and dry conditions predicted for the coming days will continue to challenge firefighting operations. The crew was focusing on “wiping the construction of direct and emergency control lines inside existing confined combustion lines” on August 24, the agency said.

The Bay Area Air Quality Control District has expanded its air quality advice until August 25th due to smoke from the picket fire. Wildfire smoke is expected to affect Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties.

Flat fire

Firefighters have been fighting a flat fire “around the clock” since the afternoon of August 21st, according to fire information in Central Oregon. More than 800 staff have been assigned to the fire.

“Overnight, firefighters continued to fight 21,971 acres of flat fires actively,” the agency said in an August 24 update. “The night shift crew were able to establish early dozers and handlines around parts of the fire. In particular, the crew established an initial line along the head of the fire’s southern part, and further advances along parts of the fire’s north and west perimeter.”

Eric Perkins, chief of the Oregon Forestry Department’s division, said firefighters were facing difficult terrain on August 24, along with a Red Flag warning.

The Red Flag Warning was issued for fires between August 24th and August 25th. This means the flame could grow in the next few days. Fire information in Central Oregon predicted that the area would see high temperature conditions, including low relative humidity, unstable air mass, and temperatures reaching three times the digits of magnitude.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek declared a big fire, and the Oregon Firefighter S has multiple teams working to protect their homes on potential fire roads. Evacuation orders and warnings are in place in both Deschute and Jefferson County, and expanded along Highway 126 with Sisters on August 24th.

At least 3,938 homes are threatened by the fire, according to an August 24 update on social media. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said about 1,000 homes are Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation orders, with four major closures of roads in the area in place due to the fire.

Fire Hazard Advisories are valid in some US states

As of August 24, at least 50 large, unconnected fires were burning across the country, according to the National Inter-Ministry Fire Center. The agency noted that about 1 million acres in the United States have already been burned this year.

The agency said fuel and fire hazard recommendations are in effect in some western provinces. The National Inter-Ministry Fire Station urged its public to comply with local fire restrictions amid a dangerous heat wave.

“Temperatures are normal above 10-20°F, along most of the west coast near the Cascade and Sierra and near the west, as well as across the Pacific Northwest and Western Montana.”

Vietnam announced plans to evacuate more than half a million people and ordered boats to be kept on land. Meanwhile, the southern Chinese city of Sanya closed businesses and public transport on Sunday as it had a heavy typhoon, swordfish.

The storm is projected to have “bygo” the southern coast of the Chinese island coastal province from Sunday evening before heading to Vietnam, China’s National Weather Centre said.

At the time of 0900 GMT, the storm gained strength, with winds reaching 166 kph (103 mph), according to Vietnam’s National Weather Forecasting Agency.

A Chinese weather forecaster said it is likely to further strengthen the wind speed at 180 kph.

Vietnamese authorities plan to evacuate more than 586,000 people from the central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Hue and Da Nang.

Those on the projected path should not go outside after 1400 GMT on Sunday, and soldiers will stand up to help, the government said.

Vietnam’s seven coastal provinces banned them from leaving the coast early on Sunday, Tien Huong newspaper reported.

Vietnam Airlines cancelled at least 22 flights between Central City on Sunday and Monday. Vietjet Aviation said it would cancel or delay the flight, but did not provide details.

China’s Sanya, famous for its beach resorts and sandy beaches, closed tourist attractions, closed businesses and public transport have been suspended.

China’s weather agency is forecasting heavy rain and strong winds in Hainan and nearby Guangdong and Guangzhou regions, with the Hainan region expected to receive 320 mm (12.6 inches) of rain from Sunday to Monday.

Sanya issued a red typen alert on Sunday morning (the highest in China’s color-coded warning system) and raised emergency response to the most serious levels, according to a post on the local government’s WeChat account.

City officials convened a meeting on Saturday evening to encourage preparation for a “worst scenario,” the government said.

All classes and construction have been suspended, and shopping centres, restaurants and supermarkets have been closed from Sunday. The vessel is ordered to halt operations in the waters of Sanya.

Record rainfall since July has hit the north and south of China, as meteorologists have described it as extreme weather related to climate change.

Natural disasters, including floods and droughts, caused China’s direct economic losses to 521.5 billion yuan ($7.28 billion) last month, affecting millions of people, leaving 295 deaths or shortages, data from the Ministry of Emergency Management showed.

The Vietnamese government compared the strength of a marlin to the strength of a goat. It struck the country a year ago, killing about 300 people and causing $3.3 billion in property damage.

The most stolen car in Tennessee is the Nissan. Why does it attract thieves?

The most stolen car in Tennessee is the affordable Nissan model.

  • According to visual capitalists, the Hyundai Elantra is America’s most stolen car.
  • The most stolen car in Tennessee comes from Japanese car manufacturer Nissan.
  • There are steps you can take to stop the measures to follow after car thieves and automatic theft.

More than 850,000 vehicles were stolen in the US in 2024, according to Bankrate.com. Theft of a car is the third most common property crime. Some vehicles are more popular among burglars than others.

Visual Capitalists at online publishers recently published a map of the most stolen vehicles in the United States. The Hyundai Elantra is the most stolen vehicle in 21 American states, but some are listed as the most stolen vehicle, truck or SUV in Tennessee. What makes Tennessee particularly interesting is that it is the high automotive centre and has four manufacturing plants within the border.

  • Volkswagen Chattanooga Assembly Factory:Volkswagen produces Atlas and ID.4 electric SUVs on this site.
  • General Motors Spring Hill Manufacturing: The plant focuses on vehicles such as the Cadillac XT5 and XT6, and is also home to Ultium Cells LLC, a partnership in EV battery production. It is located in Spring Hill just south of Nashville.
  • Ford’s Blue Oval City: Although they are not yet open to business, this manufacturing business in Haywood County will focus on developing EVs and batteries outside of Memphis.
  • Nissan Smyrna Assembly Factory: The Smyrna plant closest to Nashville produces models such as the Nissan Rogue, Pathfinder, and Leaf.

The most stolen cars in Tennessee

Based on a financial buzz review of National Insurance Crimes Bureau data, the Nissan Maxima is the most stolen car in Tennessee. The Maxima is a medium-sized sedan that was cancelled after the 2023 model year. It was once one of the most popular models in the Japanese car manufacturer’s vehicle portfolio. Currently, the Nissan Ultima is the only medium-sized sedan of the brand.

After more than 40 years on the market, Nissan has x its maximum nameplate as sales numbers have declined, according to cars and drivers. Nissan Maximum could be cancelled, but there are many used models on American roads. So why are car burglars targeting Nissan?

According to a Milwaukee news clip on Nissan’s theft, car burglars can use critical reprogrammers to easily access certain Nissan nameplates. Key reprogrammers make the theft very easy by hijacking the vehicle’s key FOB signal in seconds. Nissan is not exclusively dependent on this method, as several other automotive brands are targeted nationwide using similar technologies.

Maxima has been cancelled and will not benefit from the new Nissan anti-theft innovation. So, what can Tennessee do if they own a popular car among car thieves?

How to prevent your car from being stolen in Tennessee

Thanks to modern innovation, there are several ways to completely stop or prevent automatic theft. Some vehicles come standard with technologies such as anti-theft systems and engine immobilizers. There are also aftermarket devices and technologies that drivers can add to vehicles, including trackers and more.

Types of anti-theft systems

  • Ignition cutoff
  • Automatic Passive Alarm
  • Tracking signal
  • Steering wheel lock

Anti-theft systems like steering wheel locks may seem outdated, but this type of system is one way to ensure that you cannot operate the vehicle using the steering wheel without the lock key. You can always keep your vehicle tabs using Apple Airtag and other tracking devices/apps.

Geico also recommends keeping the vehicle title outside the vehicle if it is stolen. While it may seem like an anti-theft system is not necessary, it can make a huge difference in preventing theft of your vehicle. This is especially recommended if there is no way to inspect your vehicle when it is parked near your home.

What if my car is stolen in Tennessee?

According to AAA.com, the more you report that your car was stolen, the more likely it is to recover. Approximately 80% of stolen vehicles will be recovered within the first two days of theft. So, if your car is stolen in Tennessee, the first step is to report the theft to authorities.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpl1z_k4lnm

After contacting the authorities, the next step is to contact your car insurance provider. If you have comprehensive insurance, theft may be covered by the insurance policy.

Stealing your car can be a scary experience, but there are ways to stop theft and measures to follow if your car is stolen. Anti-theft technology may have evolved over the years, but so have car burglars, so stay vigilant and be prepared to prevent automatic theft.

US Mint’s first laser engraved coin marks technical milestones

0

play

As the American Monetary Association concludes its annual conference called “Global Fair Money” at Oklahoma City this weekend, the coin collector community continues to be plagued by one of the most pressing issues, the spread of counterfeit Chinese-made products.

According to the association, such counterfeits are more widespread than ever before. Experts say it is sold through online auction facilitators such as eBay and online auction facilitators such as eBay.

US Mint’s latest coin release featuring laser engraving is a leap in counterfeit bust technology, with some people thinking that agents are hanging their noses on fake coin makers in the process.

“The US government is clearly trying to do something with the surge in Chinese counterfeits regarding online auction facilitators,” said Scott Travers, editor-in-chief of Coinage Magazine, author and naughtyman. “Mint is trying to send a very public message by coming up with new technologies that will stop counterfeiters and bring back generations.”

The newly issued 2025 American Eagle Silver Proof is the latest in iconic Investor and Collector Coin, first launched in 1986.

A 1 ounce silver coin produced in US mint at West Point holds a “Walking Liberty” figure by sculptor Adolf A. Weinman (first used in a half-dollar in 1916) wrapped around the folds of the American flag, holding laurel and oak branches. Conversely, it appears to be tied to a nest, which is the same image since 2021.

It is the first time that this publication is made unique. In particular, laser-engraved Privy Mark is a design element that is commonly used for marketing or historical purposes. For example, 2020 American Eagle Coin commemorating the 75thth The anniversary of the end of World War II featured a wise mark with the words “V75.”

Privy Mark, a laser-enlarged coin for 2025, introduces laser beams and the rays flowing from its core.

“It gives a strong message,” he said. “Do something stupid and don’t try to copy US coins anymore.”

He called the coin “one of the most important and symbolic issues in modern history.”

The US Treasury Department, which oversees the Mint, did not respond to requests for comment from USA Today.

The stupidity of fake coins

Forged coins have long been filled with aspects of the monetary world and federal authorities. A 2008 Coinworld survey estimated over 100 robust counterfeit companies in China at the time, most of which operate cottage-type businesses.

Experts say fakes are generally displayed on online auction sites and are often offered at a seemingly bargain price. Perhaps a ounce of silver coin is as low as $16, despite the continued price of silver being more than twice as high.

“Many people fall into that trap,” says John Albanese, founder and CEO of Certified Acceptance Corporation, one of three major coin certification companies serving the world of coin collecting. “But if the silver is priced at $34 a ounce and someone is selling it for $16 or $19, we can guarantee it’s a counterfeit. It’s a minefield.”

Serious collectors are well versed enough to avoid such temptations, but the general public remains vulnerable, Travers said “hoping to tear the eye from sellers and get a better end to the bargain.”

“It’s awful and ruthless to find an American Eagle on eBay for $16, represented as a negotiable and authentic American coin,” he said.

eBay is not permitted to sell counterfeit products on its website, but coin community discussions on social platforms such as Reddit and elsewhere say enforcement often comes after the fact, and other sellers will take the place of it.

“The counterfeit sellers will be shut down at some point, but that’s a mall-slam game,” one user said in a community chat on eBay earlier this year. “The other one is always pop-up.”

Travers said he had some sympathy.

“They are trying and breaking in to fix this,” he said. “A lot of this is beyond their control.”

Albanese said counterfeit products can look very authentic even to longtime collectors. He places magnets in his office as one way to detect counterfeit silver, usually made of steel. Unlike silver, this is drawn in a magnetic pull.

The 2025 American Eagle represents a quantum leap, but he said it still doesn’t solve the problem of counterfeiting with coins produced in the early years.

“There are still billions of coins out there that people aren’t sure are real,” Albanese said. “That’s why we tell people to buy from a reputable dealer.”

“No one has seen the details before.”

The American Eagle series is specially designed for collectors, and produces a variety of mintages in gold, platinum and palladium each year. For example, the 2025 lineup includes coins commemorating the 250th Several US military anniversary, wise marks featuring military logos.

Laser-engraved American Eagle Coin is a so-called proof coin, meaning that it is made by hitting a planchet or metal disc. This process produces what the travers describe as a chrome-like glow.

“It’s like a mirror,” he said. “You’ll be able to see yourself.”

In this case, the die is engraved with a laser engraved design. “It’s almost three-dimensional.”

Proofcoins have been in production since the 1800s, but according to the proof set, they entered the modern era in 1936, when they began being sold not only to collectors but also to the general public. At the time, Mintage was as small as 50 or dozen coins depending on the number of orders, Travers said.

US Mint characterizes the 2025 silverproof coin as a “first opportunity” to purchase coins produced with new technology. Coins are available through Mint or through the US Mint Sales Center in Denver, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC.

Mintage in coins is considered low these days, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a booming investment, Travers said.

“The mint has dozens of those coins spread,” he said. “Collectively, there are a lot of coins out there.”

As a result, he said collectors seeking profits might want to capitalize on the short-term excitement.

“If they can double their money now, that might be wise,” Travers said. “The strongest time is when they have the buzz, like they are now and the months before Buzz is moved to the latest.”

Perhaps he said the new issues will appeal to those looking to close their collection.

“That’s the spirit of collecting, and I encourage it,” Travers said. “But this doesn’t mean getting rich.”

Despite new technology, experts recommend caution

He said that in the future, laser production will provide great insurance for those who purchase coins made in such a way.

“I wouldn’t think it would encompass all the coins at once,” he said. “But I hope that more precious coins, especially gold, will become the new standard, because the problem with the forged gold coins is overwhelming.”

Travers said counterfeit gold coins made from tungsten and coated with gold are being seen, offering them as low as $100 to $500 on online auction sites. Gold is currently valued at over $3,300 per ounce.

Despite the new technology, Travers and Albanese say counterfeiting is a problem with coins produced in the past few years.

“The counterfeiter simply flips the coin over the previous date,” Travers says.

He said smart collectors are adamant about independently purchasing coins that are independently certified by companies that encapsulate coins in acoustically sealed holders, for example, using protective holograms, often as part of their authentication services.

“These grading services will still be the best governance,” Travers said. “Just because the coin is hit by the new laser technology people say, that’s enough for me.”

British anti-immigrant protests after government set up asylum reforms

London
Reuters
–

Anti-immigrant protests continued across the UK on Sunday outside a hotel that houses asylum seekers. A day after police were forced to separate protesters and rebels in multiple cities as tensions over immigration policies erupted.

The immigration vote, the biggest concern among the public, has pressured Britain’s Labor Prime Minister Kiel Starmer to fulfill his pledge to end the use of hotels, which cost billions of dollars a year.

The UK has seen regular protests in recent weeks outside of asylum seekers, spurring public safety concerns in part after migrants housed in a hotel east of London were charged with sexual assault.

The demonstrations took place on Sundays nationwide, including Epping in East London, Bristol and Birmingham.

A court ruling on Tuesday ordered the removal of asylum seekers from a hotel in Epping, which became a flashpoint for anti-immigration protests. The government is planning to appeal.

Protesters gathered there again on Sunday, carrying placards waving British flags and saying “Epping Says No” and “Stop the boat.”

On Saturday, anti-immigrant protesters gathered at small gatherings in towns and cities in England, Scotland and Welsh.

Official figures on Thursday showed that asylum claims were record highs, with more immigrants being housed in hotels compared to a year ago.

Populist Reform UK Party leader, Nigel Farage, who surpassed the recent vote, has planned a massive deportation of immigrants who have crossed from mainland Europe in small boats if his party forms the next government.

He told The Times that the UK will withdraw from the European Human Rights Treaty, attack repatriation contracts with countries such as Afghanistan and Eritrea, and build sites with 24,000 migrants.

On Sunday, the government said it would reform the asylum appeal process to accelerate decisions, reduce the backlog of cases and phase out the use of hotels to accommodate asylum seekers.

Under the plan, an independent body of judges will be created to process asylum appeals and reduce the backlog of 106,000, including 51,000 appeals, which have an average waiting time of more than a year.

Home Minister Yvette Cooper said the change was part of an effort to “restore control and order” to a system that he described as “complete disruption” when Labour took office last year.

“We can’t continue these completely unacceptable delays,” Cooper said.

Chris Christie criticizes Gislane Maxwell for her Trump admiration

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie condemned comments from Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice, Gislaine Maxwell, saying President Donald Trump had not committed any guilty of fraud and praised him as “heartedly” and “kind.”

“She said she might have taken Donald Trump, or President Trump, “The man who can forgive me has never done anything wrong. A man who can forgive me is always great,” Christie, a critic of Trump’s unusual voice, said on August 24th, “this week.”

“I don’t think Donald Trump had anything to do with the uncomfortable or illegal Jeffrey Epstein, but are you going to believe in Gislane Maxwell?” Christie asked. “Please take a break.”

Maxwell praises Trump as a “gentleman”

Maxwell told Attorney General Todd Blanche last month during an interview that Trump was “not inappropriate for anyone,” and that he was “a gentleman in every respect.”

“Trump has always been so sincerely kind and I just want to say I found it. I admire his extraordinary achievements as president now,” Maxwell said, according to a transcript of the conversation published by the Justice Department on August 22.

Maxwell has sentenced him to 20 years in prison after being convicted of procuring a young girl who was sexually abused by Epstein, a dishonest investor whose past close relationship with Trump sparked a fire in recent months.

Maxwell appealed to her beliefs and signaled in an interview that she wanted a pardon from Trump, who hadn’t ruled out it.

Maxwell’s pardon would further incite a fierce flame of speculation surrounding the nature of Trump’s connection with Epstein, and whether his administration had withheld the Epstein Files because of his involvement. Maxwell also quietly moved to the security prison shortly after an interview with Blanche.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Attorney General Pam Bondy told Trump that his name was on the file, and that Trump had sent Epstein a strange birthday card with graffiti of a naked woman, further promoting suspicion.

Trump accused them of “hoos” and said he was “running” by enemies commonly called out, like former President Joe Biden and FBI director James Comey.

The House Oversight Committee summoned the Epstein Files and received the first Trove on August 22, but Democrats on the committee say most of the documents they received have already been made public.

China’s Taipei will top the Nevada title

International teams are once again on top of Little League baseball world.

China’s Taipei, the champion of the Asia-Pacific region, has run along the 2025 Little League World Series title behind ACE pitcher Lin Chin-Tse.

Chin-Tse’s pitching line was simply dominant – five innings, one hit, 0 errors, 0 walks, 4 strikeouts – and he had the most important hits in the game (base clearing triples) during the five-run bottoms of the team’s five innings.

On the strength of Chin-Tse’s arm and the stellar defense behind him, China’s Taipei defeated Nevada 7-0, winning its first Little League World Series title since 1996, making the 29 drought a nation’s drought. Teammates

To support the championship effort, China’s Taipei made three double plays on Sunday, marking the team’s fourth cry in 12 days of LLW in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This was the 18th LLWS title in China’s overall Taipei and the second best title of 40 total titles won from the US team.

Nevada was aiming to win the state’s first LLWS title and continue the six LLW Championship streaks dating back to 2018.

According to ESPN, he hasn’t pitched in two weeks. He hit the first batter he faced on five pitches. He then walked three consecutive batters to load the bases. China’s Taipei Lin Qing Tse hit a burnt liner on the left field line to clear the base, and after that play the lead grew to Taipei 5-0 in China. When Tsai Yuge from Taipei, China, hit the ground ball, the play went home to prevent the run from scoring. However, a false throw from the catcher to the left field past 3 base allowed the base runner and batter to score. After five innings, China’s Taipei led 7-0.

According to Little League, attendance for the 2025 LLBWS Championship Game was 25,812.

Taipei, China had no hitters by Lin Qing Tse, divided by Garrett Gallegos of Nevada. But Nevada cannot add to that hit as the innings are over. China’s Taipei still leads 2-0 after leading in five innings.

According to ESPN, it was 1979.

D’Ambrosio threw the pitch for the 85th and won the final from the bottom of four innings. New pitchers will appear in the next innings, but for now, China’s Taipei has a 2-0 lead.

Chin-TSE won the top of the invitation for the fourth time and the second strikeout of the game. Throughout the four innings, he has not allowed a hit while pitching 49 pitches (36 on strike).

D’Ambrosio gave up on an infield single to Chen Shi-Rong. Chen Shillong later came in second on the wild pitch and scored when Danbrosio made a slow error on a slow base from a bunt attempt. D’Ambrosio, who currently has a pitch of up to 69, limited further damage with strikeouts to finish the bottom of three innings. Three innings have been completed. China’s Taipei leads 2-0.

Chin-TSE faces three innings from the smallest number of batters (9) and pitched only 37 pitches (28 on strike), but the perfect game is still alive.

The US team has won all Little League World Series Championship games since 2018. The international team that will win the LLWS was from Tokyo, Japan in 2017.

Jian Zih-de began to bottom two innings on foot. Zih-De came in second on the wild pitch and third on the groundout. Luke D’Ambrosio threw a ball four as Ho Fu-yi faces a 3-1 count on the plate. The ball drips away from the catcher, and Zih-de ran through the house and hit the tag. China’s Taipei leads Nevada 1-0 after two innings.

Lin Chinz of Taipei, China, has the perfect game with one strikeout over two innings against Nevada. We’re still scoreless.

The US Championships on Saturday by Nevada’s Summerlin South Little League was Nevada’s second U.S. Little League title, according to the Reno Gazette Journal. But now Nevada is aiming for the state’s first LLWS title, an even bigger goal.

D’Ambrosio gave up the single on one out and hit the batter with two outs, allowing China’s Taipei Lai Yu-Han to load the base with two outs before coming to the plate. However, D’Ambrosio jumped out to escape this jam. After one inning we are scoreless.

China’s Taipei has surpassed its 15-3 opponent in four games so far, including three shutouts.

Chin-Tse got a groundout, a jump out and a strikeout to compete for the top of the first inning.

Nevada produced 52 hits, 15 extra bass hits, four home runs and 38 runs. All categories lead the LLWs into the LLWs Championship Game on Sunday.

Lin Ching of Taipei, China, won the mound for the Asia-Pacific region champion, with Nevada’s Luke Dunbrosio becoming the starter for the Mountain Region champion.

yes. If the score is still tied after six innings, the two teams will be innings from seven innings to more innings. The difference between seven innings and all the innings needed afterwards is that the runner starts seven innings (and beyond) with 2 bases. According to Little League, the runners “will be hitting last in each half inning.”– Sharron Christie

Little League baseball does not have strict limits on pitching innings per game. However, Little League monitors the number of pitches a player can throw into the game, and there are days of rest related to the number of pitches a player throws in each game. The maximum number of pitches a player can throw in a Little League World Series game is 85. However, a pitcher can pass the 85 pitch threshold and end the batting that began at 85 pitches, but that batter will be the last one before he has to remove the pitcher from the mound.– Sharron Christie

Under normal circumstances, the Little League full World Series game plays in six innings. If the home team leads the six innings and gets three outs against the visiting team, the game ends with five and a half innings as the home team is not hit at the bottom of the six innings. – Sharron Christie

Sunday’s action in the Little League World Series starts at 10am in the third place game. That game follows the championship game between Taipei and Nevada, China, at 3pm.

The Las Vegas area is a hot spot for Little League baseball talent, and Summerlin South Little League (Las Vegas) was just the latest example. Summerlin South LL won a spot in the Little League World Series this year, beating Lone Peak Little League (Alpine, Utah) 6-3 in the Mountain Championship Game. According to Fox 5 Las Vegas, Summerlin South was the third straight team in southern Nevada, representing the LLWS region. If Summerlin South can win the 2025 Little League World Series title, it will be Nevada’s first team to do that. – Sharron Christie

Tung-Yuan LL (Taipei, Chinese Taipei) cruised over a 6-1 record in the Asia-Pacific Tournament to arrive at Williamsport this year. According to the Little League, “This will be the fourth trip to Taipei, China, representing the Asia-Pacific region, starting with the Fulin Little League (Taipei), which won a bid in 2022.” Taipei, China, has a rich history with LLW, which has 33 contestants, including this year. The Tung-Yuan Little League made its final, other-only trip to Williamsport in 2015, finishing the tournament with a 2-2 record, Little League said. If China’s Taipei seems to be one of the international teams to watch every year, that’s because China’s Taipei is the country with the smallest League World Series title (17) outside the United States, when the country’s final championship came from the Chaochon Little League in 1996. – Sharron Christie

2024 LLWS ended with a thriller, as Florida claimed an extra 2-1 victory over Taiwan.

The Lake Mary Little League team has made history beyond lifting the Little League World Series trophy. When they won the game, they became the first team based in Florida, winning the tournament and finished a run where eight LLW finalists lost in the title game. – Sharron Christie
