We need to talk about it

Crumbl CEO Sawyer Hemsley came out of the closet in a recent social media post. But perhaps not the way he wanted it.

“Over the past few years I have come to realize and accept that I am gay,” he wrote on Instagram on August 26th.

Hemsley speculated about the CEO’s sexuality, according to rumors that he pretended to include an August 22 Tiktok video for influencer Grant Gibbs. “I literally never saw a gay guy,” he wrote in the caption in the post. The video has received over 18.8 million views. The commenter said, “After seeing him for two seconds already known, I just checked out ‘Crumbl Cookie CEO’. ” “Gader never got off that fast,” Gibbs then apologized to Hemsley in a follow-up video (jokingly);

Celebrities and public figures regularly face speculation about sexuality. Name some Shawn Mendes, Kit Connor and Khalid. But should they do, especially when they still understand it? And do they need to say something about it either way?

Short answer: No. Mental health experts say, as the outcome can be disastrous, especially if someone is pushed out of the closet. Spin social media or Google Anti-LGBTQ+ laws in the US once to see why.

Guessing about sexuality is in the way

Connor, the star of Netflix’s “Heart Stopper,” came out as bisexual after feeling immeasurable pressure several years ago.

“I’ve come back for a minute. I’m BI. Congratulations to you forcing someone 18,” Connor wrote in a short tweet. Fans have accused the star of “Queer Baiting.” It appears that straightforward cisgender people have acquired LGBTQ+ fashion, music, acting roles and more.

That blunder highlighted what would happen when QueerBaiting failed. “There is a huge difference between exploitative, LGBTQ-mediated representation and audiences raising legitimate concerns about queer bait and online trolling.

The same can be said about singer Mendes, whom I mentioned in October 2024. For a star who hasn’t actually said anything definitive about his sexuality, countless social media posts are certainly true, as if he were talking about it without evidence. Certainly, anyone can freely discuss what they like personally. But talking about someone’s sexuality on a public forum is a completely different kind of intrusion when they’re not used to it.

Hemsley also experienced this firsthand.

Sawyer Hemsley doesn’t borrow answers from us

Unlike the average person, why not expect celebrities, influencers, or otherwise people in the public eye to ask questions about their lives?

Yes, no. “The nature of celebrity journalism is to gather as much information as possible about celebrities we definitely know too well,” Williams explained. “Even so, disclosure should remain a matter of choice, as celebrities and non-celebrities do not owe any public confirmation or explanation about their sexual orientation.”

Experts say people never feel obligated to come out, especially when safety is at risk. And even when they are more privileged like Hemsley, if they are not ready, people should not leave either. And “Ideally, we’re working on creating a world to “come out” to create a world without boxes or closets. “Until that shift occurs, we have to deliberately choose who we want to celebrate our identity.”

Hemsley didn’t come out as planned – the way they should have crushed the cookies if you did. But all of his posts come up are: “At the end of the day, I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I had, those who supported me, and for the opportunity to live and share my story. It is a journey of growth and integrity and I will never stop thanking you.”

And no one can take that way from him.

How much do you know about the state’s constitution and courts?

0

You may know when the US Constitution was drafted or how many amendments (27!) it has. And you may know how many justices are sitting on the U.S. Supreme Court and how they got the job. But what about your own state constitution and the Supreme Court? There is an attractive diversity between the courts and the constitution of 50 states. Here’s an opportunity to dig deeper into these and learn more:

50 states, 50 constitutions, 50+ high courts.

Every state has a constitution. (Some of them are territory and Tribal Country. ) but Less than half Americans don’t know that their nation has its own constitution.

The national constitution knows that few Americans know that state constitutions often go beyond federal constitutions to protect individual rights on issues such as environmental quality, gender equality, and economic freedom.

Each state also has a high court called the Supreme Court, but not always. The High Court has a final word on the issue of the state constitution.

In Oklahoma and Texas, there are additional wrinkles. They each have two high courts. One is dedicated to civil litigation and the other is dedicated to criminal matters.

Most of the state’s high court justice is men.

As of May 2024, 57% of the state Supreme Court’s justice It was a man. in In five states, only one woman is sitting on a Supreme Court bench. Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakotaand South Carolina . Meanwhile, in Wisconsin, Six of the seven justices There is a woman on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. This is the highest percentage of women in the State High Court.

There is no justice identified in 19 states as people of color, including 13 states, which make up at least 20% of people of color. 38% of justice sitting are former prosecutors, and only 9% are former public advocates.

Nearly two of the three states have rewritten their constitution at least once.

In American history, there was only one constitutional treaty held in Philadelphia in 1787 for four months. In contrast, almost two-thirds of the state have rewritten the constitution at least once. John Dinnana professor at Wake Forest University. Seventeen people have adopted the new constitution more than three times. Trends of Adopting a new state constitution tends to create waves – In the 18 years from 1964 to 1982, 10 states adopted the new constitution. Since then, only Georgia, Rhode Island and Alabama have done so.

In states that still use the original constitution, Massachusetts is the oldest. It was adopted in 1780 and is from the world The oldest functional written constitution.

On average, state constitutions are more than nine times longer than the US constitution.

All state constitutions are longer than the US constitution. It consists of 4,543 words. Alabama has the longest constitution with around 373,000 words – Longer largely Stephen King’s novel. (only stand and that According to Dinan, the Texas constitution is runner-up, with 92,345 words running.

Why such redundancy? State constitutions tend to be much more detailed about everyday life, delving into areas where the US Constitution is either concise or even silent. For example, New Mexico Constitutional Law Dedicate the entire section to irrigation and water rights. This is not atypical in water-hungry Western states. In contrast, the US Constitution only mentions water once, when Congress’ powers “establish rules regarding land and water capture.”

The median amendment to the state’s constitution is 124, 27, almost five times the US constitution.

The process of revising The US Constitution is difficult. It starts with a Congress or a constitutional treaty proposing an amendment, which must be ratified by at least three-quarters of the states. Amendments to the state’s constitution tend to be simpler, with voters having a direct impact on the ballot box.

In all states, legislatures may propose amendments. Except for Delaware, these are Placed on the vote for voter approval. in 17 statesvoters can collect signatures in favour of measures in accordance with state regulations and make amendments directly to the vote after meeting other requirements. According to Dinan, the California constitution has the most amended, with 542 as of January 1, 2025. In 2024, state lawmakers and voters approved a total of 75 amendments to the state constitutions of 49 states. The only state without new revisions was Ohio.

State constitutional scholar John Dinnan Make a claim The ease of amending the national constitution has become an engine for social change on issues ranging from religious freedom to the right to lay weapons. The fix can also reflect the unique way in which different states approach the problem. Maine, for example, became its first state in 2021. Approve Constitutional amendments to states that guarantee the right to grow, produce and consume food for “nutrition, nutrition, physical health and happiness.” The supporters said so Help me fight hunger In the state.

In more than half of the state, voters choose a high court judge.

The state constitution dictates how a judge in the state’s Supreme Court is chosen. Over half – 38 – Elections are used as part of State Judgment Choice. Most judicial elections are nonpartisan elections where no candidates are executed in party affiliations.

However, eight states host Supreme Court elections in Alabama, Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and New Mexico using hybrid systems. There, the judges are first appointed by the governor, then compete against the partisan race in the next general election.

In 26 states (many of which use elections when judges seek additional conditions) and Washington, D.C., governors usually appoint justice to the state high courts with the support of the nomination committee. In Virginia and South Carolina, Congress chooses justice for the state Supreme Court.

Four states, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi, are Supreme Court judges. is selected from Specific geographical districts or judicial circuits within these states.

Are we undergoing secret surgery in Greenland? Denmark summons US envoys

Denmark has summoned top American diplomats in Copenhagen following reports in Danish media claiming American citizens are running secret influence operations in Greenland aimed at hampering the island’s political status.

An August 27 report from the Danish state broadcaster Dr. Dr. Danish Intelligence Reports revealed a network of at least three people working on “influenced operations” in Greenland, driving a wedge between Denmark and its territory.

“An attempt to interfere in the Kingdom’s internal affairs would clearly be unacceptable,” Danish Foreign Minister Lars Rocke Rasmussen said after convening Copenhagen’s US accusation, Mark Straw, to explain the report. Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredericksen said alleged interference was “unacceptable.”

The United States currently does not have an ambassador in Denmark. The charge is a diplomat who serves as the mission chief for the embassy in the absence of the ambassador.

Trump pledges to “get Greenland” when direct flights begin from us

Direct flights from the US have begun as Trump vows to “acquire Greenland.” What kind of reception do Americans get?

There was no immediate response to development from the White House. The US Consulate in the Greenland capital of Nuuk introduced all questions to the US State Department but did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Greenland government did not respond to a request for comment.

In a statement to USA Today, the top Danish diplomat said, “It was therefore not surprising to experience attempts to influence the future of the kingdom,” considering “foreign actors continue to show interest in Greenland.”

According to the DR report, all three Americans claimed “bond” with Trump. It is said that an American has visited Greenland, attended a conference and compiled a list of potential allies and opponents of Trump’s desire to take over territory.

The other two Americans are said to have been involved in building contact networks with politicians, business figures and community leaders in pursuit of Trump’s plans. The doctor said he knew the names of three American men involved in the alleged spy operation, but chose not to publish them to protect the sources. The doctor said he couldn’t tell if Americans were working on their initiative or if they were working as a result of the order.

The Wall Street Journal separately reported that the US had bolstered intelligence news activities in May to spy on Greenland. The report also urged Rasmussen to summon US envoys.

Trump’s White House has expressed interest in acquiring Greenland due to its strategic location in the waters of the Arctic and its undeveloped mineral resources and wealth, including the so-called rare earths used in many household appliances. Officials from Greenland and Danish have repeatedly said that Greenland is not on sale.

Tweens, a mall boutique chain preferred by teens and young women, Claire’s plans to close more than 290 stores as part of the bankruptcy process.

Claire’s Holdings LLC, which announced it had sold its North American business to private equity firm Ames Watson on August 20 for $104 million, listed more than 290 stores that are scheduled to close in its court application on Monday, August 25th.

Stores that will be closed include 235 Clare locations and 56 icing stores in the US. The filing also lists 830 stores (785 Clare locations and 45 icing locations).

The move comes after a company that filed for bankruptcy earlier this month pointed out in a subsequent court filing that more than 1,100 stores would need to close if a buyer was not found.

Claire’s new owner wants to maintain a “significant retail footprint”

According to the filing, store closure sales can continue to close, but sales elsewhere have been removed. The date of the expected store closure has not been revealed, but they are expected to happen on a rolling basis, the company confirmed with USA Today.

At the time of sale, Ames Watson, whose offices are in New York City and Columbia, Maryland, said he plans to save the retail chain in a reduced form.

“Clair has built strong emotional connections with generations of consumers, focusing on self-expression, creativity and accessible fashion,” Lawrence Berger, co-founder of Ames Watson, said in a statement. “We are committed to investing in the future by maintaining a significant retail footprint across North America, working closely with Claire’s team to ensure a seamless transition, and creating an updated pathway to growth based on our deep experience with our consumer brands.”

Of the 291 store closures, these states have the most: California (25), New York (18), Illinois and Pennsylvania (16 each).

Claire’s second month submitted amid tariffs, inflation and competitive challenges

The company, based in Hoffman Estate, Illinois, near Chicago, has been struggling ever since filing for bankruptcy in March 2018.

Supported by hedge fund Elliott Management and Monarch’s alternative capital, Claire continues to operate in more than 2,300 retailers in 17 countries across North America and Europe, including traditional Claire stores, 210 Claire locations embedded in Walmart stores, and 120 stores operating under the icing brand owned by Claire. The company also operates 9,000 concession kiosks within the mall.

Challenges include an increase in the super popular online fast fashion site Shein and Temu, which has been cut back on sales of the jewelry store chain, rising interest rates on goods from China, inflation and tariffs.

The judge has now banned Kilmer Abrego Garcia from being deported from the second country.

  • District Judge Paula Sinis set up an evidence hearing on October 6th.
  • Judgments regarding the lawsuit may not be issued until November.

Kilmer Abrego Garcia will not be able to deport the false deportation case, which he has become a symbol of President Donald Trump’s hard-hit immigration agenda, until at least October, a federal judge ordered on August 27th.

District Judge Paula Sinis set up an evidence hearing on October 6th, until Abrego Garcia banned removal from the United States and Sinis gives her ruling. The judge said he would do so within 30 days of the hearing.

Abrego Garcia, 30, fled his hometown of El Salvador at the age of 16 and lived with his brothers in Maryland. His court battle began when he was taken into custody in March after traffic stopped near his home in Bertlesville, Maryland. After a while he was illegally exiled to a mega prison in Salvador.

He was returned to the United States in June, but was released from criminal custody in Tennessee last week and remained in custody until he returned to his Washington suburb home in Bertlesville, Maryland. Three days later he was taken into custody and caused another legal action.

For now, he is being held in ice custody in Virginia and is renewing his bid for asylum in the US. A similar bid was rejected in 2019 after the application failed within 12 months of arriving in the US.

The Trump administration describes Abrego Garcia as a member of the MS-13 gang, a human trafficker, serial domestic abuser and a child predator. He denied all of these claims.

Abrego Garcia’s lawyers say that US officials offered to expel him to Costa Rica if they pleaded guilty to transporting immigrants who live illegally to the United States. When he refused to enter the guilty plea, the US government warned that he could be deported to Uganda.

One of his lawyers, Simon Sandoval Moshenberg, said earlier this week that a plea was held to avoid deportation to Uganda.

“They keep Costa Rica as a carrot and Uganda as a stick,” Sandoval Morshenberg said. “They are weaponizing the immigration system in a completely unconstitutional way.”

The FDA approves an updated Covid-19 vaccine, but only in certain groups

0

play

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the latest Covid-19 shots for the fall season on August 27th, and has implemented the most stringent restrictions on who can access the vaccine since it became available.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. of the Department of Health and Human Services announced approval for social media platform X, saying emergency use permits for the Covid-19 vaccine have ended and vaccinations for Moderna, Pfizer and Novavax have been approved for “high-risk.”

Under updated approval, only people over the age of 65 and those with existing health problems are recommended for the COVID-19 vaccine, according to federal guidelines.

“These vaccines are available to all patients selected after consulting with a doctor,” Kennedy said in the post.

Pfizer said in a news release that the updated shot has been approved for use by all adults over the age of 65 and people over the age of 5.

Similarly, Moderna said its updated SpikeVax formula was approved for everyone over the age of 65 and over and over six months. Its new vaccine, Mnexspike, has been approved for all people over 12 years of age and over 65 years of age.

Rumors of a “ban” vaccine “is “unfounded,” the White House said

Kennedy previously said on May 27 that the Covid-19 vaccine will no longer be included in the CDC’s recommended vaccination schedule for healthy children and pregnant women.

Experts warn that the guidance could make it difficult for others who want a Covid-19 vaccine, as insurance companies generally follow federal recommendations.

Speculation that Kennedy planned to ban the vaccine entirely in late August, based on a report originally published by the Daily Beast on August 25th. Citing cardiologist and Kennedy’s associate Dr. Asemmalhotra, the report said HHS would move to pull the Covid-19 vaccine away within months.

The vaccine fight continues

While new, stricter guidelines have not reached levels of bans, Kennedy’s vaccine skepticism continues to be a point of competition between the HHS and other health officials.

The state’s health departments and national professional organizations, including the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the American Obstetricians (ACOG), publicly denounced Kennedy in May, and announced its intention to recommend co-vactin for pregnant and healthy children.

He later portrayed more backlash when he fired all 17 former members of the Advisory Committee on Vaccination Practices. This was a committee of health experts providing guidance on vaccine use to the CDC, replaced by members critics called unqualified. Some members, like Kennedy Jr., have a history of anti-vaccine advocacy and involvement in the anti-vaccine group.

AAP went to release its own schedule for August 19, saying that the federal process is no longer reliable. To reduce the likelihood of serious illness, it was recommended that all children between 6 and 23 months receive the latest Covid-19 vaccine. According to the guidance, children and adolescents aged 2-18 years without other high-risk factors such as immunosuppression can receive and should provide the vaccine without other high-risk factors such as immunosuppression.

In responses posted on social media, Kennedy has fought back against AAP criticism, meaning that the organization’s pro-vaccine views have been influenced by corporate pharmaceutical funders.

Under Kennedy, the updated CDC guidelines refrain from recommendations and instead suggest that parents consult with their child’s pediatrician on a case-by-case basis.

The large ju judge reports that it refuses to file a felony charge against the alleged DC Sub-Lower

The US Lawyer’s Office in DC attempted to claim a felony assault after Shawn Charles Dan got caught up in video after the August 27 incident.

WASHINGTON – Federal prosecutors have failed to convince the large ju judge to hand over the felony charges against authorities. News reports say it is shown in a video of him throwing a sub sandwich to a federal agent in the nation’s capital.

The District of Columbia’s U.S. Attorney’s Office attempted to accus Shawn Charles Dan of felony assault after allegedly throwing a sandwich wrapped in customs and border patrol agents during the August 10 conflict. The New York Times and the Associated Press reported on August 27 that the DC large ju trial voted against the return of the indictment.

The video of the incident and a group of federal agents chasing Dan – went viral and became a global symbol of President Donald Trump’s federal crackdown on crime in the District of Columbia. After his arrest, the Department of Justice fired Dan from his job as an international affairs expert in the department’s criminal division.

Dan’s lawyer, Sabrina Shoff, did not immediately comment, informed USA Today that she was in court and had not been informed of the denial of the Great Jue.

Trump aims for Seth Myers after Colbert’s cancellation

play

After questions about the politics behind Stephen Colbert’s late-night exit, President Donald Trump is currently aiming to be fellow host Seth Myers.

Trump went social early on Wednesday, August 27th to address “sick rumors” that marked an extension of Myers’ contract with NBC.

“Fake News NBC has extended the contract for one of the most talented late-night television hosts, Trump wrote. “He has no ratings, talent, intelligence, or unstable child personality. So why is fake News NBC expanding this dope deal?

In May 2024, NBC extended its “Late Night with Seth Meyers” contract until 2028. Mayers, like other late-night hosts, is a frequent critic of the president and his administration.

USA Today contacted NBC for comment.

Why was Stephen Colbert cancelled?

Trump’s comments come after CBS canceled “Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” which is scheduled to end in May 2026. The cancellation urged rage and allegations that the network’s parent company Paramount had fallen under political pressure, given Trump’s criticism and the need to win a merger with Skydance Media, approved by his administrators. However, CBS said the cancellation of the show was a “pure financial decision against the challenging late-night background.”

In a conversation with Dax Shepard about the “Armchair Expert” podcast released on Monday, July 28th, Meyers expressed concern that his show had been cancelled.

“I shifted for fear that I wouldn’t be enough, and now my fear becomes strange outside of my control. At some point, the ecosystem may not support it,” he was recorded in an interview before the cancellation of “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

This is why Hertz brings dogs to the airport to comfort travelers

  • Hertz has launched “Gold Squad,” a program featuring Golden Retriever Service Dogs at the airport to make travelers more comfortable.
  • Dogs will promote the Hertz’s Gold Plus Rewards Loyalty program, offering faster rentals and exclusive rates.
  • Hertz has the public vote on which cities Gold Squad will visit next.

Car rental company Hertz borrows marketing play that uses the best friend of America: Man to promote its products.

Hertz started what is called the Gold Team, featuring driving Subaru cars in commercials, as in Subaru, with three golden retrievers and one yellow Labrador retriever.

The Gold Team is a group of about 20 Golden Retriever Service Dogs this year at various US airports, and if you’re lucky next year.

“I know that the last leg of my trip could drain, so I take the Hearts Gold team to change it, and I hug it a few times during the peak hours of the airport.

The name Gold Squad is played with the Hearts gold and black logo. Not only will dogs put a smile on the faces of travelers, they will also help Hertz employees to promote enrollment in Hertz’s free Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Loyalty program. The program allows members to create a car rental faster, earn exclusive fees when booking on Hertz.com or the Hertz app, skip counters at selected locations, earn redemption points, and more on free rental days.

“This is a gold squad and we want people to feel gold,” Hertz spokesman Lauren Ruster said of the dogs. “You can join Gold Plus rewards and skip counters on future trips.

A huge hit with travelers

Luster said Hertz got the idea earlier this summer to take his dog to the airport during summer dog days. She said dogs from local service dog organizations are skillfully trained for a variety of purposes.

“It’s as easy as wanting to ease the travel experience, especially while traveling,” says Luster.

Hertz ran his first gold team at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on August 18th and said he was extremely busy on Monday. The dog met people from 9am to 2pm that day.

“We wanted to start from there and see how it went,” Ruster said. “It was a huge hit, so I want to take it to another airport.”

The dog photos and posts have received over 88 million views on YouTube, Facebook/Instagram and 9.9 million views on Tiktok, Luster said.

Now, Hertz is making public vote for where the puppy should pop up next by commenting on Hertz’s latest Instagram post. The selection will be between Chicago, San Diego or Atlanta to end this year. Next year, Hertz will guide the program to a wider audience of airport travelers, including perhaps Detroit Metro Airport.

Meet Gold Squad

Hertz highlighted some of the Gold squad members at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. One was Sammy. Sammy loved swimming and sitting neatly, “the fact that at a member-only rate, the owners spend less on car rentals and more on snacks.”

Then there’s Duke. Duke likes to chase tennis balls when he’s not comforting tired travelers, Hertz said. To sell its rewards program, the company points out that Duke likes to “make the ultimate choice and choose the best rear seat.”

Similarly, Golden Retriever Mulligan “loves skipping counters with peanut butter, long walks, gold and rewards.”

Luster said all dogs come from the city’s local service dog program, where Hertz brings the event.

“We had over 20 dogs on the Dallas-Fort Worth Gold Team, but the size of our team varies from city to city,” Luster said.

Are you allergic to your dog? Don’t worry. The dogs are stored in open spaces in the airport car rental area where travelers can choose to engage or not, accompanied by trained handlers.

Plus, Luster said, “To help all travelers have that ‘gold’ sense of taste, there are plenty of fun giveaways, including stress balls, snacks, water, and phone chargers from the Hertz Gold Squad brand. “

Things you need to know about Trump’s DC Union Station Takeover

0

This station is extremely important for regional transport through the District of Columbia. However, its ownership and management structure are complex.

play

WASHINGTON – The DC Main Transit Hub is the next stop on the White House’s mission to control the country’s capital.

Transport Secretary Sean Duffy said on August 27 that his agency will “return the Washington Union Station to federal authorities” as part of President Donald Trump’s campaign to reduce crime and cleanse the city.

The move is yet another extension of the president’s power over DC, and has long ruled itself.

Here’s what you need to know about Union Station’s federal acquisition:

Why the acquisition?

Duffy said the federal government wants to make Union Station “beautiful again.”

At a press conference to announce the new Acera’s high-speed Amtrak train, Duffy explained that the train station was “ignored” and needed a makeover. He said the federal acquisition aims to clean it up and bring new business.

“We will invest in making sure this station is clean. There are no homeless people at Union Station,” he said.

“We believe we can manage our property better,” Duffy said.

Who runs Union Station? it’s complicated.

Union Station’s governance structure is complex, but includes a combination of federal government, private and nonprofit organizations.

The Department of Transport, specifically the Federal Railway Administration, located within the dot, owns the hub. It is leased by a nonprofit organization called the Union Station Redevelopment Corporation.

According to the company, Amtrak, which provides urban visitor rail services across the United States, will work with USRC to oversee the real estate and “responsible for day-to-day management and operations.” In the summer of 2024, the judge allowed Amtrak to take control of the station more strongly through the prominent domain.

The Transportation Bureau said on August 27 it was renegotiating a cooperation agreement between USRC and Amtrak. The agency says it will announce “formal action” in September to confirm the station’s updated management.

Union Station: 70,000 passengers per day

Union Station is the second busiest hub on Amtrak’s national network, carrying 5.6 million passengers each year. According to the company, around 70,000 people pass Union Station every day.

The station also links rail services to Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Metro and local bus lines and commuter railroads to Maryland and Virginia.

“It’s very beautiful.”

Michael Curtin, 25, said he likes to travel around Union Station and never felt unsafe.

“There’s beautiful architecture,” he said, noting the building’s barrel-shaped ceiling and dozens of Romanesque statues. “I think it’s very beautiful.”

Antonio Cruz, 58, says Union Station hasn’t changed over the past 20 years and is hoping to see some renovations, especially in the bathroom.

“I think you can use a makeover,” said Cruz, who travels from New York City to the capital several times a year.

Back in the office, they work from home. This is the way

0

play

Employers are calling workers back to the office. But are they following?

New research suggests that despite the cold job market and increased employment anxiety, some people are defiing their boss’s march orders.

According to Brian Elliott, CEO of Workforward and publisher of Flex Index, who produced the report, the average number of employees should rise 12% over the past year, while office attendance has only increased by 1% to 3%.

“A tough return to office duties is like a law against Jay Walking. It exists, everyone knows about it, and no one follows it because it makes little sense.”

Appearing in offices five days a week was the norm until the Covid-19 pandemic closed offices across the United States.

Millions of people were forced to work from home, and the flexibility of remote work got caught up in the commute and cubicle faded into the back. Even when offices were reopened, many workers remained logged in from their home offices and created a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days a week.

Then came the rush of duty to return to the office. “So many companies have got the whims of people who actually feel a bit of a good work-life balance about working from home (working from home).

Employers see it differently. They say that segregation during the pandemic era weakens cooperation and innovation from face-to-face interaction alone.

When JPMorgan Chase placed Kibosh on a flexible hybrid schedule this year, CEO Jamie Dimon forced the move, saying that returning to the office five days a week is essential to mentoring new employees and fostering a corporate culture.

The new obligation was not popular with everyone. Morale was hits in JP Morgan and elsewhere.

On research and social media, unhappy workers ticked out the shortcomings of moving to the office, not just fluorescent lighting, cramped cubicles, microwave smelly foods, or annoying coworkers.

Long commutes increase stress and reduce productivity. Daily expenses for attendees in the office – According to video conferencing company Owl Labs’ 2024 hybrid work status, the average daily hybrid workers stay in the office – taking a sip from their family budget.

Some argue that when they enter the office, many teams spread across cities and time zones to beat their purpose. Then there is the impossible task of narrowing down doctor appointments and childcare picks to a 9-to-5 office schedule, especially for working mothers.

Smarter from the new status quo, some remote workers said they were back in the office and not making any extra effort and instead regaining time.

“I arrived exactly () a scheduled start, took a break from my desk after lunch and my second day was over. Do you want to contact me after email or business hours? That’s too bad,” one person wrote on Reddit. “I don’t feel generous with employers who treat me like a child.”

According to Bloom, it’s not just rank and file. Middle managers are less obsessed with RTO mandates than reporting.

“The ultimate issue is trying to implement rules set by CEOs that middle managers and employees disagree,” Bloom said. “They don’t just see that if they can be productive in two or three days a week, then they’ll come in five days a week.

How remote workers deny RTO obligations

The violations are offered in a variety of ways.

“Coffee Badge”: Some workers schedule emails sent after they leave the office and send a “coffee badge.” Swipe into the office, grab a cup of jaws and go home, or tap and swipe on a colleague. According to Owl Labs, 44% of US employees ordered to the office confessed to “coffee badges.” Seven in ten employees have been admitted to being caught by their employers.

Ignore RTO ObligationAnother common strategy is to quietly ignore RTO policies. Some companies can fly under the radar if they don’t make a fuss. “One of my biggest complaints is one of my 15-person teams, and only two of us live in the city. What purpose does that serve? “So a lot of people stopped, but we just never went in. I was telling my colleagues not to follow up. He wanted to ask about it.

Negotiation of special treatment: High-ranking, top-performing employees who are likely to be poached by competitors are increasingly using leverage to reduce transactions. “Performance is more important than compliance,” Elliott said. “Managers are reluctant to eliminate good performers when faced with the demand of ‘doing more’. ”

Then adhere to slack off“If you do it for a few months, he’ll forget about it,” said a senior executive at his team. “I’ve seen some data from commercial property management companies, and after the delegation you can see the first peak. And then falloff – for a while, to create a boss, or more realistically, make your boss’s boss happy and then kick it out.”

Working from home holdouts may not be able to flout the rules much longer. After years of work, employers hold a more difficult boundary.

A recent survey from real estate services company CBRE shows that companies have made progress over the past year to bring their employees back to their offices anytime since 2020, with 72% reporting that they have achieved attendance targets and 38% expecting a further increase in attendance.

Why is your boss peering at you?

Encouraged by these results, they aim to increase these numbers. Research shows that office surveillance has increased as businesses increase their monitoring and enforcement of office attendance at the highest rate in five years.

Of the companies surveyed, 69% monitor the frequency and duration of their employees’ stays in the office. It’s up from 45% last year through badge swipes, cell phone tracking and other methods.

According to media reports, Amazon, Facebook owners Meta and Tiktok all have systems to track attendance. Samsung recently deployed an RTO tracking tool to crack down on “coffee badges” among US semiconductor staff, Business Insider reported.

Furthermore, nearly 37% of businesses have taken enforcement action, up from 17% in 2024, CBRE’s report found.

One worker opposed the RTO mission for almost a year. “I received an offer from another company completely remote and when my boss called me to tell me that he had to come back, I resigned on the spot,” the worker wrote on Reddit. “A pretty good feeling”

According to Bloom, remote workers still have some room for it.

The chief human resources officer of one of the major companies told Bloom that they are monitoring employees’ three days of compliance in the office for eight weeks. On average, anyone with less than 5 days will be called to see HR.

“You know that there’s a lot of sagging,” he said. “I’ll come two days a week and feel better.”

AI to automate banks threatens financial work

0

AI is transforming the banking industry, but the expected profits and savings come at a very human cost with impacts on financial employment.

The report is a collaboration between Digital Bankzopa and Juniper Research, and estimates that the generator AI will provide £1.8 billion in cost savings by 2030. However, this 100% investment return comes at a massive human costs that puts an estimated 27,000 financial industry jobs at risk.

The findings suggest that AI technology is moving beyond experimental pilots and is deeply embedded in the bank’s core processes, from customer service to invisible back-office capabilities.

“We are committed to providing a range of services that are important to us,” said Peter Donlon, Zopa’s Chief Technology Officer.

“At Zopa, we operated machine learning for over a decade before LLM became mainstream, and the depth of experience shaped the belief that Genai is a fundamental ability, not a feature add-on. It’s rare for Zopa technicians to build completely new intelligence layers at a level that redefines the industry.”

Silent AI revolution in the bank’s back office

Customer-oriented chatbots and personalized app experiences often capture headlines, but the report reveals that the most dramatic impact of AI is occurring behind the scenes. 82% of all time saved through this technology, reaching 154 million hours by 2030, comes from back office operations.

These features include regulatory compliance, fraud detection, and risk management – traditionally are labor-intensive and extremely complex. AI is expected to automate the vast swath of this critical financial effort, helping everything from customer (KYC) checks to money laundering anti-money laundering (AML) monitoring.

The financial impact of AI on these back-office functions is immeasurable. Cost reductions are projected in the region alone, reaching £923 million per year by the end of the decade. It represents more than half of total savings across the sector.

This automation isn’t just about reducing costs. Regulations such as the authorized push payment (APP) fraud reimbursement rules that increase bank liability are becoming a competitive and economic need for AI to detect new fraud patterns in real time and reduce human error.

By automating daily checks and analysis, as we hear a lot about AI across the industry, this technology unlocks human experts. For the financial industry, these experts can focus their skills on the most complex investigations to improve both efficiency and effectiveness in fighting financial crime.

Superpersonalize your banking experience with AI

The motivating desire for hyperpersonalization in the financial industry is driving large investments in customer service AI. The report predicts that UK banks will pour more than £1.1 billion into AI for clients by 2030. This is the largest investment share in all segments.

This capital inflow for personalization is used to develop sophisticated virtual assistants and chatbots that can handle complex queries. We provide personalized financial advice and even look forward to the needs of our customers.

The goal is to move towards a truly conversational and intelligent interface, far beyond past rule-based bots. This shift is expected to bring great efficiency by 2030, save £540 million in operating costs and free up 26 million hours of human agent time each year. These employees can also be relocated to handle more complex, higher value interactions that require human touch.

Portfolio management is also set to make profits. Investments in the region are projected to grow to £145 million by 2030. Here, AI is positioned not as an alternative to human advisors, but as a powerful augmentation tool. It can integrate vast amounts of market data, simulate portfolio performance, automate daily reporting, and enable human experts to focus on decision-making and client relationships.

The impact of AI on financial employment

The increased efficiency provided by AI inevitably raises urgent questions about the future of the financial workforce. The report’s forecast that 27,000 roles could be replaced by 2030 is of concern. Customer service and back office positions are expected to bear the brunt of this change, with 14,000 and 10,000 jobs at risk, respectively.

However, the authors of the report suggest that this is not just a story of unemployment, but one of the fundamental redefine roles. Moving financial jobs around repetitive manual tasks creates opportunities for new positions to increase the banking workforce, focusing on AI governance, data strategies, and overseeing these complex automated systems.

Donlon emphasizes this point, viewing technological change as a catalyst for positive change. He says, “This investment leads to a one-time opportunity to reskill and rethink the workforce that drives our financial system.”

The challenge for the industry is proactively managing this transition. “More than anything, our aim is to equip banks, fintechs, regulators and policymakers with the insights they need to seize this historic moment in order to shape future work,” he said.

The report concludes with a clear warning to established agencies. A notable capacity gap has already emerged between the technologically sophisticated challenger banks building platforms around AI and the legacy banks that are hindered by older systems.

Nick Maynard, Vice President of Fintech Market Research at Juniper Research, commented: “The UK banking sector is at a turning point and is set up to restructure how banking operations work fundamentally, and Gunai creates risk and opportunities.

“Digital-only brands like Zopa have already gained deep AI and deep experience in their operations and are less susceptible to this shift. That’s why digital banks and their experience are important to lead the banking market through this revolution.”

For the high street banking giant, the message is clear. The risk of adapting to the AI revolution or losing relevance to the financial industry as redefines by efficiency, personalization and intelligent automation.

Trump administration to control Union Station in DC

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Bureau plans to regain control of the capital’s Union Station Railroad, Metro and Bus Hub as part of an increase in the Trump administration’s D.C. control to combat crime and homeless camps.

Transport Secretary Sean Duffy announced the August 27 move after President Donald Trump took control of the police station and mobilized hundreds of National Guard troops, including Union Station, to DC.

The division, which already owns Union Station, is renegotiating a partnership agreement with the non-profit Union Station Redevelopment Corporation and Amtrak, which leass the station. New control of the federal government’s iconic station, which Duffy said has been ignored for decades, is expected in September.

“We will make the investment to make sure this station is clean and we will make sure that Union Station is not homeless,” Duffy told reporters at a press conference. “It’s not a power play. We’ve always had it. But I think we can manage the properties better.”

Union Station serves as a hub for Amtrak Railroad Services, a subway for Washington Metropolitan Transportation, and a local bus route. With over 5.6 million train passengers in 2024, Union Station is the second busiest Amtrak station in the country behind New York’s Moynihan Railway Hall at Penn Station.

However, the station in front of the Capitol also serves as a magnet for the homeless encampment that federal authorities removed. Duffy raised concerns about crime at Union Station in March, saying Amtrak must lease the station and provide a plan to reduce and prevent crime at the station.

“The president is very concerned about crime in our country’s capital,” Duffy said. “He wants a capital worthy of the greatest nation that has ever existed on the surface of the earth. This means a capital with clean, safe, and no parks that are not overtaken by the homeless.”

The White House forced Amtrak CEO Stephen Gardner to step down in March after leading the railroad for four years. The railroad has since been run by President Roger Harris and has not been appointed as the new CEO.

“It’s time for Amtrak leadership to clean up Union Station,” Duffy said at the time. “Now is the time to remove the treasures of homelessness and crime in our country. Commuters and travelers need to feel safe in our capital.”

Adopting greater federal control of the station is part of Trump’s overall goal of reducing DC’s crime and glorifying the capital. Vice President JD Vance visited Union Station along with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, thanking the troops for the patrol and giving them a burger.

Stephen Miller, Pete Hegses and JD Vance defended Trump’s DC crackdown and dismissed protesters for racially and politically charged remarks.

Former Senator Vance complained about an incident that someone yelled at his son while walking around Union Station a few years ago. However, with the arrival of the National Guard he said the station was safe for parents to take their children.

Decentralized AI: Full of promises, but not without challenges

0

Decentralized artificial intelligence is welcomed as one of the deepest innovations of our time, and it promises that users can control the most transformative technologies. However, if the vision is met, the industry faces several challenging challenges.

Advocates of decentralization imagine a world where AI is not controlled by several major technology companies. It’s a bold goal, but when it slowly appears in vision, questions arise. Are we really at the pinnacle of democratizing access to intelligent automation, or are we creating disaster recipes?

The dream of decentralized artificial intelligence

The world’s most famous AI models are Openai, Google, Microsoft, Anthropic, and Deepseek et al. – Just like today’s internet, it creates a familiar sense that the AI industry is ruled by a handful of all-powerful monarchs.

This has encouraged the desire for a more equitable and open AI landscape and attracted supporters of several voices. The founder of Stabiliy Ai Emad Mostaque said in March 2024 that he wanted to “pursuing decentralized AI” to make technology open and accessible.

Mostaque’s vision resonates with legislators. In France, the Chief of the Competition Bureau, Benaud Cle, pointed out that AI is the first technology “dominated by key players from the start,” and decentralized AI as the only opportunity to change this situation before it’s too late.

Affirms of AI claim that individual developers, students, startups and enthusiasts can pool knowledge, calculate and participate in resources and data, leading to a world where MIT is said to be “democratized innovation.”

It also points out transparency as another major advantage as open AI models are running on the blockchain, ensuring biased or toxicity algorithms are quickly identified and rejected. In Greyscale’s study, the study found that open networks in fact have the ability to eliminate AI bias, in stark contrast to the opaque concentration models used today, often referred to as “black boxes.”

Other benefits of distributed AI include resistance to censorship and accessibility. Things like Google and Openai usually burn content filters, block discussion and answer questions about a particular topic, and charge access fees. Distributed models may also have content filters, but the open nature means that they can be easily bypassed. Furthermore, no one can charge access to a decentralized, locally owned model. In other words, use is not limited to those with financial means to pay access fees.

The general consensus among decentralized AI communities is that the world will be much better if this technology is collectively owned and embraced contributions from every corner of the world.

The reality may be different

For all these positivity, the decentralized AI industry must run through the formidable challenge gauntlet to meet this vision. By taking AI out of a carefully controlled, centralized data center and loosening it in a global network owned by everyone, it leads to many risks.

One of the most difficult questions concerns data integrity and synchronization. Mechanisms like federal learning can solve the latter challenge, but do not provide much solution to the risk of data addiction that can distort the output of a distributed model. Perhaps you can add a blockchain layer to increase transparency, but this can increase complexity, complexity, and slow down innovation.

Furthermore, while distributed networks can mean reduced costs and reduced bias, there is a good concern that these benefits can hamper the capabilities of distributed AI models at the expense of efficiency.

The need for immeasurable computing resources is also a barrier. Chinese companies like Deepseek are clearly successful with more limited resources, but the most sophisticated AI models in general require access to a vast number of powerful GPUs. Acquiring these resources and coordinating them remains a major challenge for distributed networks.

That said, there are some promising solutions to this. For example, 0G Labs recently announced a promising breakthrough in the form of the Dilocox framework, as it breaks down model training tasks into individual parts and spreads them to multiple nodes, before syncing with the network once these training jobs are completed. In doing this, 0G claims that it can train a very powerful distributed model with only limited resources, regardless of available network bandwidth.

“By enabling the training of large AI models on slower and cheaper networks, even small and medium-sized businesses and individuals can train their own advanced models at speed and accuracy with hardware that is more accessible than high-speed data centers.”

However, the solution to the security issues of distributed AI is less obvious. It’s like a paradox, as distributed control significantly reduces the risk of a single point of failure, but increases the attack surface to a potentially infinite number of endpoints.

Finally, there are still questions about governance in decentralized AI models. For example, who will make decisions about which parts of the model should be improved, which guardrails should be incorporated, etc. And who is causing problems with the distributed model?

A lack of accountability can lead to a kind of “ethical vacuum,” resulting in a large-scale abuse of distributed AI models. As a solution, Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin proposes a kind of hybrid model in which “AI functions as an engine and humans sit behind the wheels.” Vitalik believes that this approach combines the power of AI with human judgment to create a more balanced, distributed system.

Dispersion a

The future of decentralized AI remains uncertain and its development is motivated by grandiose intentions, but the path to this future will be difficult to navigate. For our supporters, it is the only way we have ever democratized AI technology and unleash its true potential. Critics, meanwhile, point to the ethical challenges and surprising possibilities of abuse because of their lack of accountability.

Nevertheless, despite these risks, it is clear that the decentralized AI community is moving forward anyway. For followers, the dreams of a truly open, transparent, community-driven AI industry that is accessible to everyone is too powerful to ignore, so there’s nothing to stop them. When they pursue this dream, they should hope to take the time to build guardrails that can keep things out of control and ensure that things don’t get out of control.

Democrats win Iowa Senate Special Election as GOP loses the super majority

0

Catelyn Dray’s victory is the latest in a string of positive special election results for the Iowa Democrats this year, giving the party hope that they can seize the backseat in the middle of 2026.

play

  • The Iowa Democrats have overturned Republican-owned Iowa Senate seats and destroyed the majority of the GOP.
  • Democrat Catelyn Dray defeated Republican Christopher Proche in a special election for Iowa Senate District 1 in Woodbury County, western Iowa, including Sioux City.
  • Dray said her priorities for taking office include funding public education at a rate that “maintains inflation” and “trying to make life a little more affordable for Iowans.”

Democrat Catelyn Dray left the Iowa Senate special election, turning the Republican-owned seats upside down, defeating the GOP supermajority at the Chamber of Commerce for the first time in three years.

Dray won with 55% of Republican Christopher Proche’s 44% vote, according to unofficial results from the Woodbury County Audit Bureau.

Gov. Kim Reynolds called for elections to fill the vacancy in Iowa Senate District 1 after Republican Sen. Rocky De Witt died of pancreatic cancer in June.

“I am extremely honored that the people in Senate District 1 believed in the campaign just as much as their team. I look forward to representing them well,” Dray said in an interview with the Des Moines register.

The Western Iowa Senate seat is based in Woodbury County and includes Sioux City.

Dray will serve the remainder of DeWitt, which will end in January 2027. The seats will be voted again in November 2026.

Doy’s victory now holds Democrats with 50 senators and 17 Republican seats in 33. This is enough to beat the two-thirds of the supermajority that GOP has enjoyed since the 2022 election.

This means Republicans need support from at least one Democrat senator to confirm Reynolds’ candidate for state agencies, committees and committees in the final year of her term.

Doy’s victory is the latest in a string of positive special election results for Democrats this year, and would hope the party could snatch back seats in the middle of 2026.

These results include the surprising victory for Democrat Mike Zimmer in January’s special election for the Iowa Senate seat in January, as well as the narrow losses for Democrats in the Southeast Iowa House District in March, and the dominant victory in the Cedar Rapids-based House in April.

Senate District 1 last voted in 2022, when De Witt defeated more than 10 percent of Democrat Jackie Smith.

“We are extremely proud of the organized efforts that Woodbury County Democrats have come in,” Dray said. “We had a truly exceptional team of volunteers who dedicated every weekend to knock on doors in all kinds of weather.

Who is Catelyn Drey?

Dray, 37, lives in Sioux City with her husband and daughter, and works as an account executive for a marketing company.

She named the best costs and education funding as her best problem as “meeting or exceeding inflation.”

“Overwhelmingly, the main frustration point I’m hearing is that we have an affordable crisis for us whether it’s housing, childcare or healthcare,” Dre said in a pre-election interview. “And people really feel the decisions they make to their pocketbooks and spend.”

After her victory, Dray said he wanted to represent her district well.

“And now, that means funding public education at a rate that meets or exceeds inflation, and trying to make life a little more affordable for Iowans,” she said.

Dray said he looks forward to talking to more voters in her district before she takes office.

“In the months before January, I want to be as accessible as possible to make sure I really want Senate District 1 hopes to Des Moines and do a good job representing them,” she said.

National Party support was poured for candidates

All-Democratic groups, such as the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, invested resources in race and quickly trumped the results.

The Democratic National Committee has worked with the Iowa Democrats to host phone and text banks and kicked out voters to support Dray.

“Iowans see Republicans about who they are: selfish liars throwing their members under the bus of Donald Trump’s disastrous agenda — and they’re ready for change,” DNC Chairman Ken Martin said in a statement.

In a statement, Iowa Democratic Chairman Rita Hart said “Iowa voted for change.”

“Catelyn Dray is not strong, but listens to people, grows our economy and reduces the costs of our families,” Hart said. “Christopher Proche and Iowa Republicans spent more than $180,000 on the race, but Democrats all over Iowa came together to spend money, knock on the door and write postcards.

Heather Williams, president of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, said the election results should “send a flashing warning to the GOP.”

“Voters have rejected the failed Magazine agenda and left Republican candidates in the dust,” Williams said in a statement. “State legislative Democrats are making progress, responding to community concerns about the Washington turmoil and looking for voters of stable leadership — leadership that has pushed candidates like Senator Catelyn Dray this year is more special elections than this year, and we’re just starting out.”

Both candidates received significant funding support from parties in their respective states.

Doy had raised $165,385 as of August 21, spending $75,066, according to a funding report submitted to the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Committee.

She received $94,969 in kind support, of which $87,706 came from the Iowa Democrats. This includes spending on advertising purchases, postage charges and digital funding. The Woodbury County Democratic Central Committee spent $1,022 on 500 fans printed in campaign information.

His funding report says Proche had raised $20,020 as of August 21st and spent $18,425.

Iowa Republicans provided more than $160,000 in kind support for pizza farm meals for television, digital, radio ads, direct mail, campaign signs, social media ads, texts, campaign literature and volunteers.

Iowa Republican Chairman Jeff Kaufman criticized the National Democrats for investing so much in a race where Dray had received around 800 votes.

“National Democrats were so desperate to win that they sparked 30,000 volunteers and caused a national flood to win a special election in the state Senate with hundreds of votes,” he said in a statement. “If Democrats think things are great again in Iowa, they’ll get the Caucus back.”

Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming Willis offers heartbreaking health updates about the legendary actor.

In an interview with the ABC special “Emma & Bruce Willis: An Unexpected Journey,” which aired on Tuesday, August 26th, Heming Willis discussed the health of the 70-year-old “Die Hard” star.

“The blues are still very mobile. The blues are in a really healthy state overall,” Heming Willis, 47, told host Diane Sawyer. “It’s his brain that’s making him fail.”

Heming Willis revealed that the main symptom of Willis’ frontotemporal dementia is a loss of language.

“The language is moving forward, and, as you know, we’ve learned to adapt,” Heming Willis said. “And we have a way of communicating with him. It’s just… another way.”

In recent years, actress and model Heming Willis has been at the forefront of advocating for family caregivers. Now, her family story is featured on September 9th in her new book, “Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Self.”

Despite their challenges, Heming Willis and her daughters, Mabel (13) and Evelyn, 11, can still see “the sparkle of (Willis’s) eyes.”

“It’s not a day, but there’s a moment,” Heming Willis told Sawyer. “That’s his laugh, right?

“And because it goes as fast as those moments come in. It’s difficult. But I’m grateful. I’m grateful that my husband is still here.” In a sneak peek of a previously released “An unexpected journey,” the advocates were open with Sawyer about her reaction to Willis, who was diagnosed with dementia.

“I was in such a panic that I remember hearing it and not hearing anything else,” Heming Willis told Sawyer in a teaser clip released on August 13th. Scout, 34; Tarra, 31. The family announced their diagnosis in February 2023.

Does Bruce Willis still recognize his wife Emma during his dementia battle?

While Willis’s condition had a major impact on his cognitive abilities, Heming Willis told Sawyer that he believes the actor is still aware of her and their children.

“I think he’s like that, don’t you? “When we’re with him… he’s brightening, right? He’s holding our hands. We’re kissing him. We’re holding him.

She said, “That’s all I need. Do you know? I don’t need to know that he is his wife, and we were married on this day – I don’t need it. I just want to feel connected to him.

Emma Heming Willis talks about the pain of having Bruce Willis in his new home

In her ABC News interview, Heming Willis said she and her family decided to put Willis in a new home along with a professional caregiver who is safer for the actor amid his dementia fight.

It was “one of the most difficult decisions,” explained Heming Willis. “But I knew, first and foremost, Bruce wanted that for our daughters. He would want them to be in a home that suits their needs, not his needs.”

Heming Willis tries to avoid sticking to her early relationship with Willis because it is “hard to look back,” but she shares what she wants to tell her husband whether she had a conversation today.

“How he’s doing, if there’s something he can do to support him better (if he’s OK),” Heming Willis said. “I really want to know that. If he’s scary. If he’s ever worried, if you know, I can only have a conversation with him.”

When did Travisquerce suggest to Taylor Swift?

0

Traviskells’ dad spilles all the details about his engagement to his son Taylor Swift.

In an exclusive interview with Cleveland News 5, Ed Kelse told host John Kosic that his footballer’s son fell on one knee nearly two weeks ago on Sunday, August 10th, and Travis asked Taylor to marry him in his secret garden.

“He was going to put off that until this week,” Ed said on Zoom. “I think she was probably a bit uneasy, but he was going to put her off until this week. You know, you know, to make it a big special event, I told him repeatedly, you know, you can do it on the side of the road, you can make it a special event, you ask him to go down to one lap and marry her.”

Ed shared that Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, gives Travis the same advice, encouraging them to focus on the meaning of the moment on the spectacle.

So how did it fall: Kelse took Swift to the gazebo of his property at the summit in Lee, Missouri, just before dinner. “He put her out there and they were about to go out for dinner and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have some wine,'” Ed recalled.

“They came out there and that was when he asked her and it was beautiful.”

Ed learned the news during Eagles practice in Philadelphia. “The Eagles had 60,000 people in public practice two weeks ago on Sunday night,” he said. “I got a Fasety Time call from them, and as soon as I saw it was Travis, I looked at Taylor with him.

Ed said he knew Travis’ plans for several months. He even speculated that his son might propose during his last NFL season. What he has seen since is his happiest son, he added.

“We actually went to things on KC Sunday night, the ESPN broadcast of ‘King’. And his mother and I went back to his house with him for dinner. “We had an amazing dinner with them outside on the patio and we were hooked on each other to just see the two of them. It’s really neat.”

Although wedding details have not been set yet, Ed said the couple was first focusing on each other. “They are two young people and they don’t really want, but they’re cast in the spotlight following their success in their respective fields,” he said.

AI investment has a double nature

0

The growing advantage in the AI world is redefineing how society and economy evolve, whether it reshapes industrial workflows or affects investors’ portfolios. Of course, the hype and topics around AI are hard to ignore, but the question is, does this hype often overshadow the real challenges and limitations of AI?

According to the new one Day trading reportthe excitement around the AI bubble shows signs of overestimation reminiscent of the dot-com era. Some realms of AI are truly transformative, but it’s all somewhere in the middle, not a boom or bust.

Dan Buckley, Chief Analyst daytrading.comwe think AI is a real technological boom, but it comes with pockets of overhide and speculation along the way. “We see investment driven by FOMO before record capital inflows, high air ratings, unilateral sentiment, and common sense. But we also see real use cases of AI and infrastructure investments on an industrial scale,” he said.

“The best framing is that AI is generally a real boom that includes localized bubbles, not in-board enthusiasts.”

The question remains – is ai a bubble? A bubble refers to a time when the price of assets, such as stocks and stocks, grows at a financial value that is much higher than its actual value, even across the industry. This usually occurs because excessive excitement and investors “chasing the crowd” rather than making decisions about real factors such as demand or profits.

Stock is high

Today, many AI companies, including Microsoft and Nvidia, are priced significantly higher than their actual revenue and sales. High stock prices are usually justified by high profits, but now the valuation of new AI companies is overly affected as they envision large future profits that may never come to fruition. This has been demonstrated by a $560 million investment by companies in AI over the past two years, but estimated incremental revenue from such companies is just £35 billion, a significant $525 billion gap.

AI hype ahead of the outcome

While society as a whole assumes that AI will revolutionize almost everything, Day Trading’s report found that many companies are not generating enough revenue to guarantee such excitement. Investors are priced huge profits of young technology during the early adoption phase of “hope” where returns are consistent with investment. Furthermore, many companies are “AI wash”, exaggerating their AI capabilities and selling themselves as perhaps more valuable than traditional valuations.

Economic risks

Some established global players like Nvidia and Amazon have grown to growth through robust cash flow, but many new AI startups rely heavily on venture capital or debt funding, making them vulnerable when funding terms change. While current enthusiasm for AI can attract emergency funds in some cases, this reliance on high-risk funding highlights the vulnerabilities present in some segments of the AI market.

One-sided optimism

Investors’ sentiment towards AI is very positive, but also bullish. Sceptic perspectives are rarely accepted. This could make the AI market vulnerable to sudden corrections if confidence is lost. Historically, foam tends to coincide with increased volatility, but the S&P 500 has remained relatively mild so far, suggesting surface level stability. However, this may reflect confidence among investors who are convinced of AI’s promises.

An inexperienced investor burning AI hype?

According to Day Trading, the surge in inexperienced investors jumping into the AI hype bandwagon could be inflated and increasing the risk of sudden corrections. Similar to the actions seen in the Dot-Com bubble, new buyers are protecting the extant narrative based on social media talks and news headlines, rather than focusing on current revenue and true value.

Liquidity continues to roll AI infrastructure

Interest rates are higher than pre-pandemic levels, but large tech companies are liquid enough to continue investing heavily in AI without taking too much risk. The ratio of fresh fairness or uncertain borrowings remains relatively low.

Speculative stockpile

Some AI companies, such as CoreWeave and Open AI, are actively storing resources, including AI chips and engineering talent, in anticipation of demand. This creates additional financial risk when sales growth slows. With no clear ROI or business models in place, capital is at the mercy of AI growth or lack of it.

The bubble won’t burst

The Day Trading report highlights a range of concerns, similar to the dot-com bubbles of the late 1990s and early 2000s. For example, AI is already in large scale and offers increased productivity, particularly in sectors such as finance, logistics and media.

AI companies now claim to be creating real value, but few enjoy profitable margins like Microsoft and Nvidia compared to infrastructure investments.

There is substantial investment for long-term growth rather than fast returns in the short term. So, as the full potential of AI unfolds over time, true returns could still be realized. “AI is not just an exaggeration of passing technology, but as an infrastructure in the new industrial era,” explained Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google.

Dan Buckley doesn’t think of AI as merely a hype, but excessive optimism is dangerous. “AI is authentic and valuable,” Buckley said. “But when market sentiment outweighs actual business outcomes, I start to worry about the gap being dangerous for investors.”

Double Trump tariffs on Indian imports will take effect

0

WASHINGTON/New Delhi, August 27 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump has burned to up to 50%, as scheduled for double tariffs on goods from India on Wednesday.

The punitive 25% tariff imposed by the purchase of Russian oil in India will be added to Trump’s past 25% tariff on many products from India. Among the highest that the US has been imposed on par with Brazil and China, 50% of goods such as clothing, jewelry and jewelry, footwear, sports goods, furniture and chemicals are also required.

The new tariffs are threatening thousands of small exporters and jobs, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hometown in Gujarat.

India’s Commerce Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But a Commerce Department official who spoke on condition of anonymity said exporters who were hit by tariffs would be encouraged to diversify into markets such as China, Latin America and the Middle East.

The US Customs and Border Protection Notice to shippers provides a three-week exemption for Indian goods loaded onto the ship and transported to the US before the midnight deadline. These items will be allowed into the US at previous tariff rates prior to the 12:01am EDT (0401 GMT) on September 17th.

Also exempts steel, aluminum and derivative products, passenger cars, copper and other goods subject to separate tariffs of up to 50% under Section 232 National Security Trade Act.

Officials from the Indian Ministry of Trade said the average tariff on US imports is around 7.5%, with the office of US trade representatives highlighting a rate of up to 100% on automobiles and an average applied fee of 39% on US agricultural products.

Failed lecture

As the midnight activation deadline approached, US authorities gave India no hope to avoid tariffs.

“Yes,” White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said on Wednesday when asked whether the increase in tariffs on India’s US-surrounded exports would come into effect, as previously announced. He did not provide any further details.

Wednesday’s tariff move follows five rounds of failed talks. Meanwhile, Indian officials were optimistic that US tariffs could be restricted to 15%.

Authorities on both sides have condemned political misjudgments and missed signals for the collapse of talks between the world’s largest and fifth largest economy. Their two-way commodity trade totaled $129 billion in 2024, with the US trade deficit of $45.8 billion, according to data from the US Census Bureau.

Exporters lose competitiveness

The exporter group estimates that the hike could affect nearly 55% of India’s $87 billion goods exports, and could benefit competitors such as Vietnam, Bangladesh and China.

“The move will disrupt India’s exports to the largest export market,” said SC Lalhan, president of the Indian Export Machines Association, who said about 55% of exports, including textiles, chemicals and leather, will face a price disadvantage of 30-35% against their competitors.

In addition to extending low-cost credits and facilitating loan availability, the government should consider a one-year moratorium on bank loans for affected exporters, he said.

Rajeswari Sengupta, professor of economics at Indira Gandhi Development Institute in Mumbai, said that the rupee will allow one way for the Rupee to provide indirect support to exporters, losing competitiveness and restoring lost competitiveness.

Sustained tariffs at this rate could hinder India’s widening appeal as an alternative manufacturing hub to China for goods such as smartphones and electronics.

The US-India standoffs have raised questions about the broader relationship between India and the US, a key security partner who shares concerns about China.

However, on Tuesday, the US State Department and the Indian Foreign Ministry issued the same statement that senior ministries and defense officials virtually met on Monday to “express their enthusiasm to continue to strengthen the breadth and depth of bilateral relations.”

The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to the Quad, a partnership that connects the US and India with Australia and Japan.
