Donald Trump moves our space command to Huntsville, Albama

The planned September 2nd announcement will reverse President Joe Biden’s move to overturn Trump’s 2021 decision to move to Alabama

play

According to media reports, President Donald Trump is planning to announce the relocation of the US Space Command headquarters from Colorado to Alabama.

The planned September 2nd announcement will reverse President Joe Biden’s decision to move President Trump’s 2021 decision to Alabama. Biden has chosen to maintain the military’s latest combatant command in Colorado, which has been a temporary headquarters since the military space program was established in 2019.

Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville and other state leaders were pushing Alabama to become an Invisible Space Command and fighting the Biden administration.

A report released by the Government’s Office of Accountability in June 2022 found “priority locations” across five locations – Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, an Alabama site. However, Biden chose in 2023 to maintain the Colorado Space Command. Supporters said it was perfect for military preparation.

“The determinant of President Biden to decide to maintain the Space Command in Colorado Springs was pure and simple operational possibilities,” said John Kirby, former National Security Council coordinator of strategic communications.

However, Tuberville and others continued to request the relocation. The senator is a close Trump ally, and Alabama is the state’s Trump, earning 30% points. He lost 11 points to Colorado.

Trump has often linked federal funding decisions to politics. The president previously proposed blocking the move to set up the FBI’s headquarters in Maryland, calling it a “liberal nation,” and linking California disaster aid to state policy decisions.

According to Congressional records, about 1,700 people work on Space Command.

Huntsville, home to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and a leading hub for defense contractors such as L3Harris and Lockheed Martin, has long lobbyed the Space Command headquarters.

Judge blocks Trump’s deployment of California National Guard

The decision of US District Judge Charles Breyer comes after President Trump deployed National Guard troops and Marines in Los Angeles during a violent protest against immigration enforcement.

play

A federal judge has thwarted President Donald Trump from deploying the California National Guard based on the “continued risk” of the president acting illegally.

San Francisco US District Judge Charles Breyer wrote on September 2 that Congress was evident in the Comittatas Act of the 1878 rally, which Congress banned using the US military for domestic law enforcement.

However, he determined that there was no rebellion when Trump deployed the National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles in June, ostensibly suppressing the rebellion and ensuring that immigration laws were in effect. Breyer cited plans by Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegses to expand the guard deployment in Oakland and San Francisco.

“But there was no uprising, and civil law enforcement agencies were unable to respond to the protests and enforce the law,” Breyer wrote. “The evidence at the trial established that defendants used military vehicles with the defendants (the protective armor often obscure their identity) to set up protective perimeters and traffic blockades, engage in crowd control, and demonstrate military presence around Los Angeles.

The federal appeals court decided in June that Trump could continue to control the National Guard after a previous ruling from Breyer that he illegally deployed the National Guard.

9 Three Judges Panelth The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found Trump could maintain control over the California State Guard, and Democratic government Gavin Newsom pursued a lawsuit against the development.

The incident is closely monitored as Trump mobilized the National Guard in Washington, D.C. separately and threatened to bring troops to Chicago and other cities. Trump’s authority to use security guards in Washington is unique as it is a federal seat, but Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called his city’s threatened moves “tyranny.”

Trump deployed the National Guard in Los Angeles in June during a period of occasional violent protests against federal immigration enforcement agents. Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass said there is no emergency justifying the military.

“The verdict is clear. Trump is breaking the law by trying to create a national police force with himself as chief,” Newsom said in a social media post.

The three-day trial for Breyer, which ended August 13, focused on what the military did in supporting immigration and customs enforcement agencies and other law enforcement agencies.

Attorneys for the state Attorney General’s Office alleged that the military performed police functions by setting security boundaries and detaining at least two people. If Trump’s actions were left unchallenged, the lawyers argued that “leading vast and unprecedented changes in the role of the military in our society.”

But Trump administration lawyers argued that the military protected federal agents and remained within legal restrictions.

The administration’s lawyers tried to show that the military had acted solely to protect federal agents from recognized threats and remained within legal restrictions. At the time of trial, the military was providing safety during an assault on a marijuana farm outside of Los Angeles.

Jaguar Land Rover CyberTack “Awful” disrupts sales and production

Jaguar Land Rover’s retail and production activities have been “grossly confused” after the cybersecurity incident, the British luxury automaker said on Tuesday, adding that it is working to reopen its operations in a controlled way.

The company, owned by India’s Tata Motors Tamo.NS, said at this stage it found no evidence that customer data had been stolen after shutting down the system to reduce impact. No details were provided.

Tata Motors did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

The confusion adds to the JLR disaster after a July report said it delayed the launch of the electric Range Rover and Jaguar models due to more testing and demand.

Automakers are the latest UK companies to hit cybersecurity incidents in recent months amid a surge in cyber and ransomware attacks as more and more sophisticated threat actors destroy operations and compromise sensitive data.

Last month, UK retailer M&S MKS.L clicked to collect clothing orders after nearly four months of rest following cyber hacks and data theft. Hackers also attempted to break into the Retailer Cooperative Group’s 42te.L system in April.

The Secret Service needs more snipers to protect their leaders: Watchdog

A report from the Department of Homeland Security inspector highlights that the Secret Service is “chronically understaffed” and that snipers are 73% below the required number.

play

WASHINGTON — The Secret Service, which killed the gunman who injured President Donald Trump a year ago, doesn’t have enough shooters and some haven’t kept up to the mandatory training, according to a WatchDog report.

Homeland Security Inspector Joseph Cafari, who did not reveal how many snipers have the agency, said the unit was “chronically understaffed” and was 73% below the required level. Heading into the 2028 presidential campaign, the shortage of snipers could lead to injuries and assassinations of top leaders, the report warned.

“Failing staff (counter snipers) properly can take risks, and limit the subsequent harm at the national level to national level safety and sense of security,” Kafari said in a September 2nd report.

Cuffari recommended that the Secret Service develop strategies to ensure that more counter snipers will hire more counter snipers and allow snipers to receive the necessary training.

The Secret Service agreed to both recommendations. The agency recommends hiring more counter snipers since at least 2022.

In a written response to the report, Sean Curran, director of the Secret Service, said he recognized the importance of having a specialized unit with highly trained and precise shooters.

“The Secret Service is committed to both the proper staffing of this feature and is committed to ensuring proper training,” Curran said.

The need for Secret Service countersnipers was reinforced on July 13, 2024 with an attempted assassination against Trump. The gunman fires eight shots from the rooftop near where Trump is talking, and gets injured in his ear before a countersniper from a secret service kills the assailant.

The inspector’s report adds to harsh criticism of the agency for preparing the event and its corresponding lapses. The lack of staffing for the Secret Service was a common theme in the review.

According to the report, the countersnipers earned 247,887 hours of overtime from 2020 to 2024. This amounts to 24 full-time employees.

Snipers who did not meet the mandatory recertification requirements were 47 or 11% of events attended by agent parents in 2024. The event included a Biden appearance at Wake, Dallas, Texas, on January 8, 2024. Campaign reception in New York on February 7th, 2024. Commented in Manchester, New Hampshire on March 11, 2024.

The Secret Service “needs to quickly hire and train a considerable number of countersnipers to meet growing operational demands and prepare for more than the 2028 presidential election cycle,” Kafari said.

Authorities are helping to identify victims

If you were on fire over the weekend, authorities would like to know if there is information about the identity of the man whom thousands of people saw the wooden man statue starting to burn and found him “lying in a pool of blood.”

The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada said the man’s death was being investigated as a murder committed between 8pm and 9:30pm on Aug. 30. At the event, which brings together around 70,000 participants, known as “burners,” at Black Rock Rock Dessert, and builds an entire city from scratch on a week-long Labor Day weekend, the sheriff’s office hopes someone has seen something that will help them investigate.

Burning Man ends with two massive “burns” two nights before Labor Day. It’s a 100-foot wooden man statue packed with fireworks, and a burning “temple.”

The man was discovered as the event that reached the pinnacle of the festival when participants in the event flagged sheriff’s deputies. The Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Land Management have found a man who has been “evidently deceased.” He had not been identified as of September 1, but was said to be a 200-pound white man, about 35-40 years old, about 6 feet tall, with short brown hair and facial hair.

In addition to the victim’s identity, the sheriff’s office said it was looking for information about “people who commit such a heinous crime against other people.”

“At this point, there’s no information too small to ignore,” Sheriff Jerry Allen said.

Murder is not the first time that death has shaken a man on fire. Since 1990, at least eight people have died at the festival. This included 2017 when 41-year-old Aaron Joel Mitchell came across the Burning Man structure.

In 2025, the festival celebrated new life with the unexpected birth of a baby to shock parents.

AI boom marketing is facing a crisis of consumer trust

0

The majority of marketing experts (92%) use AI in their daily work, switching from buzzwords to mainstream.

According to SAP Emarsys (pulse of over 10,000 consumers and 1,250 marketers), companies see the real benefits of AI, but shoppers are increasingly distrustful, especially when it comes to personal data. This gap could easily unravel the personalized shopping experiences brands work hard to build.

The rush to introduce AI into marketing was fast and decisive. As Sara Richter, CMO at SAP Emarsys, puts, “AI marketing is fully operational. We have moved from theory to practical as marketers welcome AI into strategy and testing possibilities.”

The appeal is clear to businesses. 71% of marketers say they help AI launch campaigns faster, saving on average for more than two hours. This new efficiency is doing what we often hear as AI is the best. Free your team from repetitive work. 72% report that they can focus on more creative and strategic tasks.

The result was also hit on the bottom line. 60% of marketers see an increase in customer engagement, and 58% report that they have been boosting customer loyalty since they were equipped with AI.

But shoppers are talking about something else. The report reveals a “personalization gap” that marketers’ efforts have not reached the mark. Even with heavy investments in AI-driven tailoring, 40% of consumers feel that the brand is not acquiring them as people. It’s a big jump from last year’s 25%. What’s worse, 60% say the marketing emails they receive are almost irrelevant.

Dig deeper and you feel a real crisis of confidence in how your personal data is being processed for AI marketing. 63% of consumers worldwide do not trust AI using data from 44% in 2024. In the UK, 76% of shoppers feel uneasy.

This breakdown of trust occurs just as new rules work. A year after the introduction of the EU AI law, a third (37%) of UK marketers have reviewed their approach to AI, with 44% saying that the use of the technology has become more ethical.

This creates the tension that the industry is talking about. It’s a way to take responsibility without killing innovation. The AI Act offers a clearer rulebook, but a quarter (28%) of marketing experts worry that strict regulations can curb creativity.

“Regulations need to balance. We need to protect our consumers without delaying innovation. At SAPEmarsys, responsible AI is building trust through clarity, relevance and the use of smart data,” said Dr. Stefan Wenzell, Chief Product Officer at SAP Emarsys.

The message to retailers is loud and clear: prove your value. People are happy to use AI when they are actually helping them. Over half of shoppers agree that AI makes shopping easier (55%) and faster (53%) using it to find products, compare prices, and come up with gift ideas. There is an interest in useful AI, but it requires a promise of transparency and privacy.

Some brands do this right by focusing on people, not just technology. Sterling Doak, head of marketing for iconic guitar maker Gibson, says it’s about thinking differently.

“If we can find utilities (AIs) that can help our staff think more strategically and creatively, we need them because we are a very creative business at our core,” explains Doak. For Gibson, AI helps human creativity rather than simply automate tasks.

The same is true for Australian retailer City Beach. This continues to use AI marketing to bring customers back. Mike Chen, the company’s digital head, discovered that AI is an ideal tool for finding and retrieving customers about to leave.

“AI was able to predict where people were stirring and dying at the 1:1 level, allowing us to send campaigns based on the individual lifecycle of our customers,” Chen points out. Their approach revived 48% of these customers within three months.

What these success stories have in common is focusing on solving people’s real problems. The path to this future is becoming more clear as retailers venture deeper into what SAP Emarsys calls the “engagement era.” Investment in AI has not slowed down. 64% of marketers plan to increase their spending next year.

Technology is not a problem. It’s how it is used. Retailers need to bridge the gap between what they are doing and what their customers are feeling. This means providing real value beyond basic personalization, and proving that sharing information leads to a better experience.

The AI revolution is here, but for it to be truly successful, marketing experts need to remember who is on the other side of the screen.

Vietnam celebrates Independence Day with a huge military parade

0

Hanoi, Sept. 2 (Reuters) – Vietnam celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence from Colonial Rule on Tuesday, celebrating the largest military parade in decades, unprecedented cash handouts and the release of nearly 14,000 prisoners.

Tens of thousands of people have crowded the city of Hanoi. Most of them were powerful shows of nationalism in communist countries, wearing red shirts and raising the Vietnamese flag.

The parade featured Vietnam’s most advanced military equipment, including a Russian-made MI-171 helicopter, Skoy SU-30 fighter jets and domestically produced drones. Thousands of Vietnamese soldiers and soldiers from China, Russia and other countries participated in the celebration.

Another event at sea featured Russian kilometre-class submarines and frigates.

“We are unshakable in our commitment to protecting the independence, freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity, all to all sacred lands,” said Lam, Communist Party of Vietnam, when he held the parade.

National leaders and foreign officials, including top Chinese and Russian lawmakers, saw the military procession at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945, where revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh made his historic declaration of independence.

The speech marked the basis of an independent Vietnam after almost a century of French colonial rule and a brief Japanese occupation during World War II, but France did not recognize the new country and fought a decade-long war that ended in defeat in 1954.

The US sent members of its embassy to the parade, and in a statement received email, Secretary of State Marco Rubio celebrated Vietnam’s anniversary and said he has become “a key partner in the Indo-Pacific region and a leader in addressing shared global challenges.”

“I was very happy and pleased, moved deeply to see the marching forces passing by,” said Hoang Thi Huyen, a 42-year-old Hanoi resident, who had camped on the pavement with four other families for nearly two days to secure the spot.

“It was worth the wait. The troops and fighter jets were amazing,” she added.

The road in central Hanoi was blocked for three business days for rehearsals and main parade.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Vietnam announced last week that it will be handing out $100,000 VND ($3.80) each in an unprecedented package that costs $100 million.

Last week, President Luong Cuong announced the major pardons for 13,920 prisoners who will be released before the prison ends, including 66 foreigners.

“Cute girl humor”, “Lolax” and big Halloween discussion

0

Are you already planning your Halloween outfit? If you are considering wearing a corset top or dressing up a “lorax” you can get sleazy remarks.

Halloween is over a month away, but the internet is already divided into fashion choices for women on holiday. In the age of fasting and microtrends, the pressure for the original, especially on Halloween, has been more intense than ever. And ZZ’s obsession with being “basic” led to a hierarchy where niche outfits outperform traditional looks. Every year, a “Rare Cool Girl Halloween Costume” tutorial floods Tiktok. In recent years, corset-based outfits have skyrocketed in popularity, adding spice to the look of Disney Princesses, Fancy Nancy and vampires.

As an antidote to traditional sexy outfits, some users have promoted the “strange girl” outfit, which has sparked a heated debate. The viral video shows a group of girls emitting Alexander Hamilton in their founding father’s outfit with head-to-toe neon orange lolax fit, sports pit bull style bald caps, or powdered wigs.

But not everyone is on board.

Some commenters say that the outfit is merely an aspect of “cute girl humor” or “popular girl humor.” The term described traditional attractive women who became viruses in Tiktok and appear to be eccentric or related to destroying feminine behavior in general.

“If you’re going as a ‘Lolax’, you can’t complain about the basic corset Halloween outfit. You’re both sides of the same basic coin,” one user said in Tiktok, who has over 2.5 million viewers.

Online conversations highlight a bigger issue. This is a way that some women feel that no matter what they do, they can’t get it right.

“We attack girls who are really doing something,” one user commented on the viral video.

“Cute Girl Humor”, “Lolax” costumes and why women can’t win

Halloween debate is a microcosm of women’s daily struggles. Women may be pressured to appeal to men’s gazes, but too many skin and amputations may lead to ridicule or shame. When choosing humorous outfits like “Lorax”, they are accused of being “Pick Me Girl” (inhusband insults of “cold girls” or “only one guy” girls).

There are fine lines between “cool” and “clinge”, and for women, the lines may be even finer.

“There’s a stereotype that women are not inherently funny,” Leora Tanenbaum, author of Sexy Selfie Nation, previously told USA Today. “You can be accused of trying too hard. That’s “stubborn.” ”

Terms like “pretty girl humor” feed into this stereotype and even attack each other ideologies “I’m not like the other girl.”

“We’re just making femininity a demon,” one user commented on the virus video.

Memes can have a big impact

In 2024, terms like “girl math,” “girl dinner,” and “I’m just a girl” had exhausting moments and were fun for a while, but also reinforced negative gender stereotypes.

“The memes are playful, but they’re pretty strong,” Miriam L. Wallace, dean of the University of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Illinois Springfield, previously told USA Today. “My concern is that it will be set up and allows for underestimation of women’s abilities and abilities.”

Similarly, terms such as “basic” and “cute girl humor” can even be “jokes” and can get under people’s skin and contribute to gender-based stereotypes.

“Everyone knows this is something, so we can laugh at it,” Wallace explained. “But we believe in that at the same time. That’s when it really becomes dangerous.”

What happens when a woman leans on sexuality?

Ultimately, this fixation about what women wear and their sense of humor reflects the rise of modern internet police, dissecting, judging and laughing at others behind the screen. After all, this takes the agency away from women who are constantly forced to consider how their appearance is perceived, even in Halloween costumes.

Especially on social media, women’s choices become judges’ performances, and even efforts to “not besides other girls” quickly turn into trends and undergo the same scrutiny. This is enhanced when women embrace sexuality.

Experts say there is a difference between feeling sexy and becoming sexual.

“Sexualization is kind of passive. That’s when you’re sexualized by someone else,” Erin Hipple, an assistant professor of social work at Westchester University, previously told USA Today. “To me, being sexy feels like something embodied and empowered.”

Juliet Williams, a professor of gender studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, added: “If they gave girls and women more permission to imagine possibilities outside the standard norms of sexiness, they would experience Halloween as a more liberalisation.”

Belgium recognizes Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly

0

play

Sept. 2 (Reuters) – Belgium will recognize the Palestinian state at its UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister Maxim Prebat said on Tuesday, adding international pressure on Israel after similar moves by Australia, the UK, Canada and France.

With increasing global criticism of the war in Gaza, Israel has been furious at the pledge to formally recognize the Palestinian state at a summit during this month’s UN event.

Belgium joined the signatories of the New York Declaration to pave the way for a two-state solution or a Palestinian state that coexists peacefully alongside Israel, saying in a post in X.

The decision “distances in light of humanitarian tragedy in response to violence committed in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, and in response to violence committed by Israel in violation of international law.”

Belgium intends to recognize the Palestinian state as part of a joint diplomatic initiative led by France and Saudi Arabia, Prevot said. The move is described as a political signal aimed at condemning Israel’s expansion of reconciliation and military presence in the territory.

US President Donald Trump has criticized Canada’s decision to support the Palestinian state, and Rubio said the French decision was reckless. The White House did not respond to Reuters’ requests for comment after a Belgian statement.

Belgium will also collect 12 “solid” sanctions against Israel, including a ban on importing products from the settlement, a review of public procurement policies with Israeli businesses, and a declaration of Persona Non Grata, Belgian leader Hamas, Prevot said.

The Foreign Minister of the European Union remained sharply divided during a meeting in Copenhagen over the war in Gaza on Saturday, urging Israel to put great economic pressure on them, while others firmly opposed such measures.

Palestinians have long been seeking the provinces of the West Bank and Gaza under Israeli occupation, and East Jerusalem is the capital. The United States says such states can only be established through direct negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.

Belgium, a member of the European Union, has decided to step up pressure on the Israeli government and Hamas, Prevot said.

Prevot also highlighted Belgian commitment to rebuilding Palestine, adding that the country would advocate “European measures to support new Belgian initiatives to target Hamas and combat anti-Semitism.”

The US said Friday that Palestinian authorities President Mahmoud Abbas would ban travel to New York for the UN summit in September.

West Bank

Reuters reported that it considers the annexation of the West Bank, which was occupied by Israel in August, to potentially deal with France and other countries that recognize the Palestinian state.

In 2024, the UN Supreme Court ruled that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory, including Israel’s West Bank, and its settlement, was illegal and should be withdrawn as soon as possible.

Israel says that although the territory is not occupied by legal terms because it is located on disputed land, most of the United Nations and the international community consider them as occupied territory.

The annexation of Israel’s East Jerusalem and Golan Heights had not gained international recognition decades ago.

Israel launched an attack on the Gaza Strip in October 2023 after fighter jets from Hamas, the Palestinian extremist group that controls the territory, attacking Israeli communities, killing 1,200 people and taking over 250 hostages.

More tickets, less space? Watch out for bullets in the “Daylight” parking lot.

0

Supporters are called “Daylights,” named after the increased visibility that occurs when parked cars reduce crowd intersections.

play

The new law aims to make American streets safer, but pretends to have more tickets and fewer parking spaces.

States and cities that seek to maximize parking in busy areas have a long history of loose enforcement of laws that usually require a pulking zone of about 20 feet around crosswalks.

Now, the effort to crack down on the issue is to acquire steam. Supporters are called “daylights,” named after the increased vision that occurs when there are few crossings of parked cars.

“If you have a car parked right next to a crosswalk, you often create a huge blind zone just in front of the crosswalk,” said Angie Schmidt, founder of a planning company that focuses on pedestrian safety. “And because cities are really dangerous.”

In Sacramento, drivers parked within 25 feet of a crosswalk, or 15 feet if there is a pedestrian extension or bump-out on the curb, could be fined $25, regardless of whether there is a sign or other indication that prohibits parking.

California is usually after joining more than 40 states that have laws that require parking a certain distance from the intersection, usually about 20 feet, according to a study by the California State Library’s Bureau of Research. The law there came into effect on January 1st, but many jurisdictions initially chose to issue warnings rather than citations.

In New York City, the city council is considering a bill to end the city’s long-standing sunlight exemption. Hard infrastructure must be installed at 1,000 intersections each year, touting Mayor Eric Adams’ pledge to bolster daylight efforts.

It’s a controversial move. City Department of Transport officials have questioned safety benefits and said the city could lose 300,000 parking spaces and billions of dollars if all intersections face increased parking restrictions.

Old law, old problems

Daylights are a safety measure that prohibits parking near sidewalks and provides better visibility for pedestrians, drivers and bikers. Some cities have installed physical barriers such as planters, bike racks and other obstacles to ensure compliance.

This concept is not new, but over time, a mix of loose enforcement, low investment and legal exceptions has led to a patchwork of law that prioritizes parking over visibility.

San Francisco city transport has pointed to daytime lighting laws decades ago, as many states have based their first vehicle codes on the US unified vehicle code. This is the latest version that prohibits parking within 20 feet of the intersection crossing.

For example, Maryland and Connecticut have daylight savings time laws, but according to a study compiled by the California Department of Research at the California State Library, it does not apply to Baltimore and New Haven.

Safety advocates, including New York-based transport alternative spokesman Alexa Sledge, have been sought for change over the years, citing success in nearby cities such as Hoboken, New Jersey. The city celebrated seven years in 2024 without traffic-related deaths after local leaders implemented many systematic safety improvements.

It all started in daylight, according to Ryan Sharp, the city’s former director of traffic and parking.

“If Hoboken can start small with something like that and build with something significantly bigger in terms of investment in improving safety and improving infrastructure, then the community can do that, right?” Sharp said.

Sledge said he hopes that the measure of sunlight in New York believes it could save lives given the bipartisan support it has enjoyed.

Parking tickets, braces with little space

Lockmiller, a California-based traffic and civil engineer, said drivers should know that they will not park certain locations (like near or in front of a fire hydrant) regardless of whether there is a painted curb or other signs that it is illegal.

The problem is particularly serious, he said. Not only urban areas, but beach parking is upscale, and many people in inland towns seeking relief from the brutal heat, trying to park as close to the water as possible.

He pointed out Newport Beach, California as an example. “I’m struggling,” he said.

Miller said the research shows “there are potential benefits,” but in California, at least in California, he “can see all sorts of issues with the way it’s being deployed.”

“The police don’t want to write many tickets that will be appealed. The town doesn’t have to draw every intersection.”

McDonald’s lowers prices by adding extra worthwhile meals to the menu

McDonald’s brings additional value to the McValue Meal menu.

Starting Monday, September 8th, McDonald’s will add a limited amount of extra meals to its products. A $5 sausage mcmuffin served with an egg meal with hash browns and a small coffee, and a $8 big mac meal available nationwide (including medium fries and medium soft drinks).

In addition to these limited time-hour meal deals, several other menu items, including egg muffins and quarterly pounders, can also be ordered as an additional worthwhile meal (in combination with the right side items and drinks) at a price that represents a 15% savings compared to Versel’s orders. Prices for these extra value meals vary depending on where you place.

The price for the egg meal and $8 sausage mcmuffins and $8 big mac meal is saved by saving more than 15% from the total price when each item is ordered individually, the company says.

Another menu note: The much-loved snack wrap will remain on the menu at a price of $2.99 by the end of the year.

McDonald’s bets on extra value meals to promote traffic, sales

An additional worthwhile meal comes in November – a $5 sausage, an egg and cheese McGriddle and a $8 10-piece chicken McNugget meal – could mark the departure of the first two limited-time meals that arrived on September 8th.

“McDonald’s USA is focused on lasers on providing value and affordable prices to our customers. We are extremely proud that our franchisees and teams continue to step up to make it happen.” “From our $5 meal deal to our McValue deal to our now extra value meals, we send you a clear message. We are here for our customers. McDonald’s is where you can get the food you love at a price that suits your life.”

McDonald’s began serving extra value meals back to 1991 and last had them on the menu in 2019.

The extra value movement came just weeks after McDonald’s reported a 2.5% increase in sales at the same U.S. stores from April 1 to June 31. This is a marked improvement from the first quarter of the fast food chain, earning McDonald’s’ most significant decline since the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite an increase of 2.5% during the April-June period, the fast food industry and McDonald’s saw double-digit declines in low-income customers, Chempczinski, CEO of McDonald’s CEO, said they were calling the company’s revenue on August 6th.

The Wall Street Journal, reported on August 20, follows weeks of negotiations between McDonald and its restaurant operators, followed by weeks of negotiations between McDonald and its restaurant operators after the company agreed to provide financial support to its franchisees.

McDonald declined to comment on negotiations with USA Today.

“Reclaiming an extra-value meal is a reflection of the company and franchisee’s shared commitment to providing affordable daily prices,” said Daniel Malasco, owner and operator of McDonald’s and chairman of the National Franchisee Leadership Alliance (NFLA). “We work together to maintain menu items that love affordable menu items for everyone in the community our customers serve.”

95% of McDonald’s restaurants are owned by the franchise owner, and after McDonald’s offers a proposal, they will ultimately price their location, but franchisees can vote for a specific price or national campaign.

McDonald’s has a reason to raise prices, Sale said. Among them are initiatives in many states to increase minimum wages to over $15, with increased inflation and labor costs.

In May 2024, Erlinger said in an open letter that McDonald’s average “input costs” or salary, meals and paper have risen by about 40% over the past five years, while the average price of McDonald’s menu items has also risen by 40% in the meantime.

With the reduced prices of valuable meals, McDonald’s “undetectedly targets low-income consumers,” Saleh told USA Today, commenting on a Wall Street Journal report.

In June 2024, McDonald’s launched a $5 meal deal to offset the rebound from price increases. This is highlighted by reports of the $18 Big Mac Combo Meal for sale at Connecticut rest areas. It also led to the McValue menu, including Purchase 1, and added one with a $1 offer.

Both the $5 meal agreement and the McValue menu are scheduled to run until the end of the year.

Congress, Trump, Chicago, Epstein, Ice, Burning Man, Belichick, College Football, US Open: Daily Briefing

0

good morning!🙋🏼‍♀️I’m Nicole Forelt. Has summer finished?

Take a quick look at Tuesday’s news:

The council is back to the session

Congress’ summer holidays are over, and lawmakers don’t have time to waste if they want to maintain federal lights until October.

Is there a possibility of a shutdown? With government funding deadlines approaching by the end of September, Republicans will need 60 votes in the Senate, need Democrats’ support, pass budget bills and avoid closures. So we know that Democrats have a significant amount of political leverage.

  • Democrats can get in the way of budget measurements. The Democratic closure strategy will become more clear in the coming weeks, and whether the White House will stick to its funding will affect those plans.
  • Meanwhile, Epstein’s controversy put Mike Johnson. In a difficult situation, he was a speaker at a Republican house. Rep. Ro Khanna is trying to force a floor vote on a bill that requires the government to release all Epstein files.
  • And the war rezoning continues. In the lead up to next year’s midterm elections, efforts to redraw the statewide congressional map are intensifying. Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe is the latest to call a special legislative meeting to draw a new voting map.

Chicago Mayor says City will stand up to Trump’s “tyranny”

“This is a very clear distinction between what our law enforcement is engaged and what our federal agents are engaged. This president will not repeat our police department.”

~Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson took a rebellious stance over the weekend over President Donald Trump’s promise to deploy the National Guard in the third largest city in the country. Chicagoans hope that the White House will bring immigration crackdowns to cities after Labor Day. Meanwhile, police department data says violent crime rates are falling in Chicago.

More news you need to know now

  • Afghanistan’s earthquake deaths violated 1,100, and thousands more were injured.
  • Beaches across the United States were closed on Labor Day weekend due to fecal contamination.
  • In an exclusive interview with USA Today, JD Vance said he is ready to become president.
  • A federal judge has halted the deportation of unaccompanied Guatemalan children.

The burning man’s death was investigated as a murder

The man who died in Burning Man on August 30 prompted an investigation into the murder, authorities said that thousands of participants were preparing to pinpoint the event by seeing the burning of wooden “man” statues. According to the sheriff’s office, the aide was flagged by participants who found the body “lying in a pool of blood.” Authorities noted that although the incident appears to be a “single crime,” all participants should remain vigilant with their surroundings and acquaintances. The investigation is ongoing and where “part of the “city” occurred, law enforcement agencies will have a strong presence until the scene is open to the public, the sheriff’s office said. The incident appears to be the first murder reported at the event.

Ice Agents Face Burnout and Frustration

Under President Trump, immigration customs enforcement has been the driving force behind his drastic crackdown on immigrants, which has been strengthened by record-breaking funds and new latitudes to make assaults, but staff have been fighting for public outrage over the arrest for a long time. The two current former ICE officials told Reuters that agents are tackling burnout and frustration as agents struggle to respond to the administration’s aggressive enforcement agenda. These internal pressures are at the expense of them.

Belichick’s debut turns into a huge failure

From the allotment of sold out tickets, Bill Belichick’s North Carolina debut, community zealous excitement over the Monday night atmosphere inside Kennan Stadium – flashlights, choreography, and even Michael Jordan’s luxury box reflect the unlimited instability of the school’s decision to soccer in charge of a gradual program of football. However, the party ended shortly after kickoff, with a brutal blow-off loss that managed to erase nine months of hope and hype in one 60-minute package. UNC scored a touchdown on the property in the opening, but was quickly overwhelmed by TCU. TCU scored the next 41 points, 48-14.

Afghanistan’s earthquake tolls exceed 1,100, says the Red Crescent Association of Afghanistan

0

play

KABUL, Afghanistan, Sept. 2 (Reuters) – The death toll from Afghanistan’s worst earthquake exceeded 1,100 on Tuesday, causing thousands more injured, and aid groups as difficult terrain hampered rescue efforts in isolated villages in the country’s eastern mountainous regions.

At least 1,124 people have been killed, 3,251 have been injured and more than 8,000 homes have been destroyed, Afghanistan’s Red Crescent Association, a humanitarian group working in the area, added that more people are threatened to be trapped under the tiled rub.

The UN coordinator in Afghanistan said the tolls are likely to rise.

Afghanistan is prone to fatal earthquakes, particularly in the Hindu Kush Mountains, where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates meet.

The quake was a six-earthquake, struck at a shallow depth of 10 km (6 miles) around midnight local time on Monday, with the worst hits in the eastern part of Kunar and Nangarhar.

The rescue efforts were carried out on Monday in four heavily attacked villages in Kunar, and the efforts are now focused on reaching more remote mountainous areas, said Esanula Esan, head of disaster management.

“We can’t accurately predict the number of bodies trapped under the tiled rub,” Esan said. “Our efforts are to complete these businesses as soon as possible and begin distributing assistance to affected families.”

Mountainous terrain and bad weather hampered rescuers reaching remote areas along the Pakistan border, where trembling flattened hundreds of mud and block homes.

Vehicle access along narrow mountain paths was the main obstacle, Asan added that the machinery was being brought onto clear roads with debris.

A helicopter flew in and brought aid supplies and took the injured to the hospital on Tuesday, and found an ambulance line that was about to arrive in Kunar’s village was on a broken mountain path, according to Reuters witnesses.

Several of the injured were transferred to hospitals in Kabul and adjacent Nangarhar province, Esan said.

Thousands of children were at risk, the United Nations Children’s Fund warned Tuesday.

UNICEF said it sends hygiene products such as medicines, warm clothing, tents, tarpoline, soaps, detergents, towels, sanitary pads and water buckets for shelters.

Taliban soldiers were deployed in the area to provide support and safety. The disaster further expands the Taliban regime of war-torn countries, already tackling a sharp decline in foreign aid and the deportation of hundreds of thousands of Afghans by neighboring countries.

Rescue services and authorities are attempting to quickly dispose of animal bodies to minimize the risk of contamination of water resources, UN officials said Monday.

“Damaged roads, continuous aftershocks and many remote villages are seriously hindering the provision of aid,” the World Health Organization said, adding that more than 12,000 people were affected by the earthquake.

“The pre-earth vulnerability of the health system means that local capabilities are overwhelming and completely dependent on external actors,” he said.

Safiullah Noorzai of Aseel, a humanitarian technology platform with networks around Afghanistan, said food and tents were desperately needed. Nursai added that their homes became abandoned and many people lived openly amid fears of aftershocks.

Reducing aid

Rescue and relief efforts struggle in the face of harsh resources in a war-torn poor country of 42 million people, and global support is limited in the aftermath of tragedy.

So far, the UK has allocated £1 million ($1.35 million) to support the UN and the International Red Cross’ efforts to provide critical health care and emergency supplies.

India had delivered 1,000 tents and had moved 15 tonnes of food supplies to Kunar with more relief materials than would be sent on Tuesday.

Other countries such as China, the United Arab Emirates, the European Union, Pakistan and Iran have vowed to help, but aid has not yet arrived.

Afghanistan was hit badly by US President Donald Trump’s decision in January to cut funds to cut and cut other foreign aid programs.

Diplomats and aid officials say there is a crisis elsewhere in the world, and a grievance with the Taliban’s women’s policies towards women and the curb for aid workers.

Xi Jinping ConveS’ and Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong of Beijing

0

BEIJING, September 2 (Reuters) – Chinese President Xi Jinping called up his Russian and North Korean counterparts for the first time on Tuesday.

Vladimir Putin welcomed the “unprecedented relationship” with China and thanked “dear friend” XI during consultations at the Beijing convention, and Kim Jong Un’s armored special train meandered towards the Chinese capital.

Iranian leaders are also scheduled to attend China’s massive military paradise on Wednesday, and Xi’s diplomatic influence with a group of authoritarian regimes called the “axis of rapid change” by Western analysts comes as US President Donald Trump’s isolationist policies are straining the Washington Alliance.

Beyond the flamboyant, analysts are looking at whether the trio will inform closer defense ties, following the agreement signed by Russia and North Korea in June 2024, whether the trio will inform closer defense ties or whether a similar alliance with Beijing and Pyongyang monitors outcomes that could change military calculus in the Asia-Pacific region.

It would also be a blow to Trump, who spoke of his close ties with Putin, Xi and Kim, and promoted his peacemaking qualifications as Russia’s three and a half years of war with Ukraine became furious.

In a thinly veiled swipe at this Pacific rival on Monday, XI spoke of a gathering of more than 20 leaders from non-Western countries.

Xi Jinbu also held negotiations with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. This, along with China, has been targeted by Trump for purchasing Russian oil to help fund Russia’s war efforts.

Trump’s Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent on Monday called the summit “performative” and accused China and India of being “bad actors” for fueling the Russian war.

When Putin and XI met on Tuesday, Russia’s Gazprom Gazp.MM and China’s National Petroleum Corporation signed a contract to increase gas supply and wrote an agreement on a new pipeline that can supply China for 30 years.

The leaders later retired to the Chinese president’s private residence and continued unspecified negotiations with the delegation.

Alarm Bell

As Trump aimed for the Nobel Peace Prize, a new concentration of military force in the eastern region, including Russia, sounds a Western alarm.

“The trilateral military exercises between Russia, China and North Korea seem almost inevitable,” wrote Young Jun Kim, an analyst at the US-based Bureau of Asian Studies in March, citing how the Ukrainian conflict brought Moscow and Pyongyang closer.

“A few years ago, China and Russia were important partners to impose international sanctions on North Korea for nuclear and missile testing.

Kim is a key stakeholder in the Ukrainian conflict. North Korean leaders provided more than 15,000 troops to support Putin’s war.

In 2024 he also hosted the Russian leader in Pyongyang, the first summit in 24 years.

According to South Korea’s intelligence agency, around 600 North Korean soldiers died fighting for Russia in the Kursk region. This is believed to be Pyongyang planning another development.

Putin also told the Shanghai Cooperation Agency Summit in Tianjin that “a fair balance in the security sector” must be restored. A biography of Russia’s criticism of NATO and the expansion of European security was spoken.

His visit to Beijing and his meeting with Xi and Kim may provide clues to Putin’s intentions.

For Kim, the parade marks the biggest multilateral diplomatic event he has ever attended.

North Korean provincial newspaper Rodong Sinmun has released photos of Kim and his close aides on his train, including Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui, who has been involved in Pyongyang’s weapons development diplomacy for over 20 years.

Before moving to China early Tuesday, Kim visited the missile lab, which analysts described as planned moves.

Hong Min, a North Korean analyst at the National Unification Institute, said the visit was intended to “show off his nuclear state-owned position” just before he was “standing alongside XI and Putin.”

The weeks of preparation entered a highly choreographed “Victory Day” parade, marking 80 years since Japan’s defeat at the end of World War II, and downtown Beijing was paralyzed by security measures and traffic restrictions.

In addition to a showcase of cutting-edge military hardware in front of an estimated 50,000 spectators, authorities will release more than 80,000 peace doves and colorful balloons.

A toxic workplace or a prosperous team? Four Red Flags and Signs of a Healthy Company

0

In today’s rapidly evolving work environment, businesses that prioritize psychological safety and employee well-being are enjoying measurable benefits. According to a 2024 Work in America survey by the American Psychological Association, companies that cultivate emotional well-being see stronger retention, increased productivity and more enthusiastic teams.

In fact, 70% of workers feel that psychological well-being has a strong positive impact on productivity, and 93% of people with high psychological safety are important to their employers.

A 2025 survey conducted by Ihire shows that while a healthy work environment benefits everyone, nearly 75% of workers experience toxic work environments.

I’m probably saying more. Almost 60% of employees say they accept lower pay jobs than staying in a toxic workplace. That’s not surprising, as these types of environments can hurt mental health, destroy confidence and reduce productivity.

“These cultures are not offensive, they are counterproductive,” explains Brandon Dawson, chairman and co-founder of the Health and Wellness Company 10X Health System. “People spend more time navigating internal politics and protecting themselves rather than driving outcomes.”

What is a toxic work environment?

Toxic workplaces are places where negativity, fear and mistrust control corporate culture. You may show up as gossip, passive aggressive behavior, stagnant growth, creeks between employees, lack of awareness or utter hostility between the department and company leaders.

More than half of the workforce admits to working in toxic workplaces, but in many cases it is caused by external pressure rather than choice. “Many employees endure toxic environments, which inevitably lead to burnout, leaving, and can undermine confidence and mental health over time.”

Common signs of toxic workplaces

Toxic workplaces are more than just a bad boss. It is a negative culture that can leave long-lasting scars.

“When things are toxic in the workplace, you know that,” says Dr. Jason Walker, Program Director and Associate Professor of Industrial Organizations and Applied Psychology at Adler University. “When leadership based on bullying, power games, elimination, gossip and fear is the norm, you know you’re working in a broken environment.”

1. High sales

A toxic workplace means employees on board, but it won’t stay long. This not only disrupts the workflow, but also damages the morale of the team. Whether it’s micromanagement, office politics, or poor leadership, something is pushing them out the door.

2. Low morale

Morale drops when employees feel unsupported, unappreciated and constantly under pressure. Team productivity decreases across the team, and worse, leaving can become infectious.

Smith explains, “A toxic work environment doesn’t just hurt performance. It helps you realize confidence, connection and happiness.” Employees don’t want to do the best job. Not because you can’t do it, but because even so, it’s not enough.

When businesses support their employees, they feel that they belong to the organization. Study by Rasool et al. The International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health found that employee well-being directly correlated with their interactions with daily operations. Companies that support their employees are seeing higher levels of morale and increased productivity.

3. Resistance to change

Dawson points out, “What makes (the environment) truly toxic is that dysfunction becomes part of “how things are done” and no one can make it safe or give it the power to change it.” This resistance to improvement is the death of innovation, which makes employees feel very stuck.

Companies will thrive when they embrace change and encourage new ideas. Culture and industry are constantly changing, and companies adapting and growing alongside them are cultivating the best working culture.

4. Lack of transparency from management

Lack of transparency from managers and tops often leads to mistrust, speculation and gossip. Clear communication leads to trust and creates a healthy work environment. The opposite leads to toxicity.

“If people feel unprecedented or unsafe, they can’t do their best job,” explains Smith. “As leaders, it’s our job to develop a culture where respect, kindness and accountability are the norms.”

Managers who want people to listen to their employees listen and communicate frequently, even if they don’t have all the answers. “If healthy communication and psychological safety are prioritized, everyone wins,” she adds.

How toxic workplaces emerge

If managers cannot set clear expectations, open communication, respectful behavior, spreading dysfunction and toxic workplaces will arise. Over time, culture is defined by fear, politics, and survival, not collaboration or growth.

Even established experts like Smith have endured toxic workplaces, but they have learned how to get out first. “Early in my career, I had a manager who used fear and uncertainty as a control tactic.

Smith explained how documenting his actions helped him empower himself and lay the foundation for self-advocacy, and ultimately helped him overcome toxicity. “As much as important as your job, it taught me that the cost of a toxic manager is not worth your salary.”

What should I do if my workplace is toxic?

“There’s a way to survive (a toxic working environment), but it shouldn’t be necessary,” Walker said. Not everyone has the means to stop, so “but there may be some people who try to make it difficult, but “it’s like staying in a room filled with smoke and not coughing,” he adds.

Walker shares that toxic environments often lead to burnout, anxiety, depression and, in some cases, PTSD. “Don’t leave that workplace unaffected either — the emotional fallout continues.”

If you find yourself working in a toxic workplace, Dawson recommends you:

  • Control controls: You can’t change others, but you can control your attitude, performance, and boundaries.
  • Document and communicate: Track issues and deal with complaints as well as solutions.
  • Find the alignment: Attracted by people with a growth mindset that wants to enhance their culture.
  • Used as a test ground: Treat the environment as leadership training. If you can positively influence the culture here, you can do it anywhere.

Toxic cultures drain energy and suppress performance, but the opposite is true. A positive work environment is fuelled by productivity, collaboration and employee satisfaction.

Common signs of a healthy work environment

A prosperous workplace doesn’t happen by chance. It is carefully constructed by implementing intentional practices that support, empower and cherish employees. Some of the most common signs you are in a healthy work environment include:

1. Open Communication

A healthy culture thrives with trust – and trust begins with communication. In a healthy work environment, information flows freely and people feel that they can speak with ideas, concerns, or feedback without fear of retaliation.

2. Growth and development opportunities

Whether through mentorship, training programs, or clear promotional routes, employees are encouraged to expand their careers.

3. Employee happiness is a priority

From flexible schedules to comprehensive profit and mental health support, healthy businesses recognize that their employees are all living outside of work.

4. Collaboration culture

Healthy teams do not view each other as competition. They work together instead. Collaboration appears to be a department sharing resources. Teammates celebrate each other’s victory, while leaders encourage ideas from everyone.

5. Employee perception

Recognizing your efforts and celebrating your achievements will continue to boost morale. In a strong company culture, perception comes from both top-down and peer.

Positive breeds positive: all hope is not lost

“The law of attraction makes negativity more attractive, but so are positives,” explains Dawson. You have the power to change the environment around you, and “how you appear every day will determine whether you feed the toxicity or start changing it.”

You can become a catalyst for changing the toxic workplace, so speak up and find allies that can come together with you.

Between the budget and the Epstein Files, lawmakers are potentially dependent on weeks and months.

play

WASHINGTON – Congress’ summer holidays are over, and lawmakers don’t have time to waste if they want to keep federal lights up until October.

With government funding deadlines approaching by the end of September, Republicans will need 60 votes in the Senate, need Democrats’ support, pass budget bills and avoid closures.

So, we know that Democrats have a significant political leverage than Republicans for the first time since March. But it remains to be seen whether Republicans can be forced to accept their demands, or whether the budget brink could lead the American economy to shut down another government.

It has been a busy year for lawmakers so far as Republicans have cut taxes and manipulated spending dramatically through GOP-controlled homes and Senate. Before heading towards the August break, Congress passed “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act,” defended by the White House, which offers tax breaks primarily for wealthy families and businesses, while cutting social safety net programs such as Medicaid and food stamps.

Passing that law was the first major hurdle for Republican lawmakers this year. However, over the coming weeks and months, there are more issues to monitor at Capitol Hill. Here are some things to look at.

Passing budget: Is there a possibility of a shutdown?

The first big item on the lawmakers’ to-do list is to pass budgetary measures by September 30th and continue to fund the government until the next fiscal year.

The Democrats can get in the way. Unlike “one big and beautiful bill law,” the Senate, which requires 60 votes to overcome, can request a bill. The majority of Republicans are only 53-47.

March was the last time Congress was in this position, and then Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer threw his support behind the extension of fundraising, bypassing the filibuster.

He pulled outrage from the progressive to reach across the aisle, but Schumer said he did so because he feared that the GOP would drag a shutdown to “for months, months, months.”

“The way you stop the closure will be entirely determined by the Republican home and the Senate,” he said in the spring. “And that’s completely decided because (President Donald) demonstrated totally blind observance by Trump.”

Schumer isn’t doing well this time. Both he and Republicans, including Maine Sen. Susan Collins, the powerful chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, are upset with the White House for reclaiming billions of dollars in funding for previously aided foreign aid. Trump administration officials have suggested that there will be more “pocket retirements” this time cancelling money due to programs in the education sector.

Bipartisan complaints about these efforts could overturn budget negotiations.

“Republicans don’t have to be rubber stamps for this massacre,” Schumer said in a statement before Labor Day weekend. “But if Republicans insist on going alone, Democrats won’t be the party to their destruction.”

The Democratic closure strategy will become more clear in the coming weeks, and whether the White House will stick to its funding will affect those plans.

Epstein’s controversy restrains Republicans

Then there’s Jeffrey Epstein, an investor convicted of child sex trafficking, before hanging out in prison in 2019.

For the next six years, conspiracy theories about Epstein’s peers have swirled in right-wing media. Some conservatives have been deeply concerned with the incident and have long called for more transparency into the government’s investigation into Epstein.

The Epstein controversy put Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson in a tough situation. Trump, his party leader, said Epstein, “no one cares.” The Justice Department has publicly made some of his findings about him, but some Republicans in Congress and GOP voters are not satisfied yet. Johnson sent lawmakers home in late July to avoid another conflict with the Epstein Files.

This issue has become perhaps the most important wedge between Congressional Republicans and the president. Trump has been friends with Epstein for years and spoke warmly about him publicly until he dropped out about 20 years ago. The President denys any fraud related to his relationship with Epstein.

On August 5, the House Oversight Committee summoned the Department of Justice thousands of pages of Epstein-related documents and began receiving them within two weeks, according to the panel’s Republican chairman.

Taking advantage of the GOP division before the break, Democrats proposed several steps to make more files about Epstein available to the public. Similar laws could rise again in the coming weeks.

The redistribution of war continues

In the lead up to next year’s midterm elections, efforts to redraw the statewide congressional map are intensifying.

Despite the 2024 loss blow, Democrats are in a better position to reclaim one or both Congressional rooms in 2026 due to a low rating of Trump’s approval rate. Republicans have only a seven-seat majority in the House of Representatives, and are running a rare medieval constituency change campaign to strengthen their chances of maintaining a majority.

Both rooms in the Republican state legislature in Texas have approved a new map that is likely to be engraved on five more seats in the GOP of a US home next year. California lawmakers responded in kind, approved measures to make proposals for the November vote, suspending current district change rules, allowing Democrats to win the same number of seats.

The battle of rezoning is also being brewed in Ohio and Indiana. In both states, Republicans are trying to create more GOP sheets.

The gerrymandering controversy will be the best mind for many lawmakers next year, especially if their district is being redrawn.

Bill Belichick’s debut in North Carolina was a catastrophe

0

play

Chapel Hill, NC – Everything was odd from start to finish.

Watching Bill Belichick chase North Carolina from the tunnel for the season-opening game against TCU was uncomfortable even for most of his arrival, demanding he grabbed the fact that this is Belichick, which is what is actually happening. College football. North Carolina.

Part of your brain saw Albert Einstein walking into a new position teaching high school algebra. Another part saw Johnny Unitas as a backup for the San Diego Chargers. Something was not calculated.

However, the reception was not surprising. From the allotted tickets to the enthusiastic excitement of the community surrounding his debut, the atmosphere inside Kenan Stadium – flashlights, choreography blackouts, and even Michael Jordan with his gorgeous boxes – reflects the unlimited joy over the school’s decision to hire a Super Bowl champion for football.

However, a good atmosphere does not win a soccer match. For Belichick and the UNC, the party ended immediately after kickoff, with a brutal blow-off loss that was able to erase nine months of hope and hype in one 60-minute package.

Face against the established Power 4 winner with moderate chances to make the college football playoffs, the Tar Heels scored a touchdown on their opening possessions, but were quickly overwhelmed by the horn frog, who scored 48-14 afterwards.

48 points was the most points UNC allowed in the season opener in the program history. The Belichick team didn’t allow many of those points in his 511-game career as a head coach in the NFL.

Following the gloomy end of his NFL career, Monday night matchup gave Belichick a great opportunity to rewrite his story. Instead, the debut was an unexemptible fiasco that caused something that caused something that would make up close to sympathy, if not just a simple concern. Is there anything else to do? Is this really something you want to do? You may have just retired, do you know?

Belichick’s broad heritage may be safe. His unparalleled NFL achievements should grow rather than diminish over time. But first impressions are also important for head coaches with an unparalleled collection of Super Bowl hardware.

Holding against the backdrop of his NFL success and all the attention paid for his arrival, this was one of the worst introductions by a new head coach in the history of Power 4. Rather than being praised, the NFL head coach Goat spent Labor Day wearing blank gazes on the sour edge of embarrassment.

“They did a lot more than we did,” Belichick said. “Give them credit, they were a better team.”

Though tar heels need to be improved, Belichick’s start to the bowl section surprises the ironic perception of his alignment with UNC, as a more publicity stunt than the result of a subtle search of former coach Mack Brown’s successor. Anyway, Belichick not only sold out his home stadium, which began to empty early in the second half, but he is also paid $10 million per season to deliver the winning product.

“There’s no shortcuts,” he said, then in true Belichick fashion, next week’s opponent, Tar Heel, “we’re moving to Charlotte.”

TCU may be ready for the Renaissance three years after an unexpected run to the national championship game in his coach’s first season. This is a team that competes for nine wins and hoveres the backend of US LBM coaches without any noticeable dents in the playoff race.

Monday nights will not provide a clearer image. Despite the long runway to prepare for the opener, UNC allowed him to resemble many frogs, similar to many NFL opponents who humbled Belichick’s team during Tom Tom Brady’s tenure with the New England patriots.

“We all felt a bit underestimated,” TCU coach Sonny Dykes said. “There was a lot of conversation and it wasn’t about us.”

TCU finished with 542 yards, 258 yards on the ground and 284 yards at 7.5 yards per play. The horned frog ran 72 plays and scored a first down of 29. The offense included at least 15 yards of six plays and six carrys of at least 10 yards.

The tar heels were only 222 yards, with more than a third of that total appearing on the opening drive. After that first touchdown, UNC failed to score the first three minutes into just over three minutes.

“They were obviously better teams tonight,” Belichick said.

Lopez, who was selected as a starter last week, finished with four of the 10 for 69 yards and finished with two turnovers. Previous South Alabama completed one pass after the first drive and was replaced by a backup Max Johnson in the third quarter. Johnson is far better, completing nine of 11 throws for 103 yards, sparking an early quarterback controversy for Belichick to deal with before meeting Charlotte in five days.

The play from UNC was chaotic and was full of sloppy snaps, sloppy tackles, sloppy angles, sloppy line play and sloppy play calls filled up the wheels for hanging out horned frogs. Part of this mess can be attributed to a massive roster overhaul that led 70 new players to the program after the spring drill was over.

But many other first-year coaches from the Portal era have made similar offseason renovations and run. And although Belichick did not inherit the proven loser, he inherited a program that continued from six bowl games in a row. It is more concerned about the ugly, often undisciplined performance of tar heels.

“We thought we were ready for the game,” Johnson said. “We’ve been working on our fundamentals last year, but we have to do a better job.”

There was a pick six in the second quarter – a big swing – led the TCU to 17-7. The radio decision was made to punt on the fourth down on the TCU 46-yard line, with just over a minute left in the first half. As a result, a failed snap and a 26-yard punt helped the horned frog drive for field goal over time.

On the first play of the second half, a 75-yard touchdown run pushed the score to 27-7. The subsequent possessions of the horned frog were completed for 20 yards in the third and 20, resulting in a 28-yard touchdown run on the next play.

UNC took over and immediately flipped the ball over after Lopez was fired and turned into a fumble.

Johnson stopped the horn frog’s run with a short scoring pass in under a minute to go into the third quarter. Aside from a touchdown in trash time, Tar Heel was attacked, kicked out, peeled and kicked out for all meaningful moments except the first three minutes of the first quarter.

“We need to communicate better with what we’re doing,” Johnson said. “We have to do a better job of getting out there and competing for all the play throughout the game.”

From here, the Tar Heels will continue their schedule in early October, including preseason ACC favorite Clemson, but otherwise it’s easy to manage, with their matchups against California, Virginia, Stanford and Wake Forest appearing to pave bowl eligibility with six wins. But that’s good news and bad. Belichick’s team may be able to take advantage of a flimsy schedule, but the lack of competition in the marquee makes it difficult to overcome this opener’s foul smell.

UNC hired him as a relevant shortcut, but robbed the trend online after losing 34 points in front of an audience across the country. But that’s one game we have in this experiment, with Belichick humbled, empty, excitement erased, and the Tar Heels face the possibility of a long, long season. There was no such debut.

“We’re going to keep working and grinding,” Belichick said. “We have to fix some of the mistakes we made. We had too many self-harmed wounds. We’ll start with that.”
