Putin, xi jinping, Kim Jongun meets to “conspire” against us: Trump

0

Trump’s comments about the three leaders come when they first met in Beijing. The conference is a show of solidarity among powers avoided by the West over Russia’s war against Ukraine.

President Donald Trump posted on social media on September 2 that Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean dictator Kim Jong were meeting together in China and “conspired” against the United States.

“President XI and the wonderful people of China have a great and enduring celebration day,” Trump wrote about the true society as the three leaders he first met in Beijing met. “Please give me my warm respect for Vladimir Putin and (North Korean leader) Kim Jong Un. Please conspire against the United States of America.”

Trump’s comments come when three foreign leaders come together to meet to show solidarity among the West’s avoided countries about Russia’s role in the war against Ukraine, Europe’s worst conflict in 80 years.

The president denounced the “turbulent axis” because he said that while the group is known, he doesn’t worry about them pose a threat to the United States.

“I’m not worried at all. No, we have the strongest military in the world,” Trump told conservative outlet Scott Jennings on a radio show. “They will never use the army on us, trust me.”

China launched its biggest military parade in history on Wednesday with a show of growing firepower and geopolitical influence. XI tried to cast Beijing as the manager of the post-US international order.

Trump calls for China’s Victory Day celebration

The parade in Beijing was 80 years since Japan’s defeat in World War II. The weeks of preparation entered a highly choreographed “Victory Day” parade in downtown Beijing, surrounded by paralts due to security measures and traffic restrictions.

Trump said he hopes that America’s role in Japan’s defeat will not be forgotten in China.

“The big question to be answered is whether China’s President XI will refer to the vast amount of support and “blood” that the United States has given to China in order to ensure freedom from foreign invaders that are not very friendly,” Trump said in a post on the True Society.

According to the US Historians’ Office, the US provided great support for China’s resistance to Japan during the war. Before the US entered the war, the US combined its strategy to extend its war supply credit to China through its lending and lease program, while the US began withholding supply from Japan, which is essential to military efforts, the Office of Federal Historians said.

President: “I’m disappointed with Putin”

With Trump’s comments turned to his counterparts overseas, the president also expressed growing dissatisfaction with Putin over the ongoing war against Ukraine.

“I’m extremely disappointed in Putin, and I can say that,” Trump told conservative outlet Scott Jennings on a radio show. “Thousands of people are dying… it’s a war that makes no sense.”

Trump’s comments about the ongoing conflict ended without attacking two contracts to end the war, including a summit with Putin in Alaska and a few weeks later.

The President framed efforts to end the foreign war that began when Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 as a matter of duty.

“We’re doing something to help people live,” Trump said. He added that thousands of people almost die weekly in conflict. “If I can help stop it, I think I have an obligation to do it.”

Ice Agents face burnout and frustration amid Trump’s aggressive enforcement

0

As ICE launches recruitment efforts to hire another 10,000 officers, existing staff will fight long hours and expand public anger.

play

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Under President Donald Trump, immigration and customs enforcement has been the driving force behind his drastic crackdown on immigrants, strengthened by record funds and record funds to make raids and new latitudes, but staff are fighting for the public’s rage over the long hours and arrests.

These internal pressures are at the expense of them.

The two current former ICE officials told Reuters that agents are tackling burnout and frustration as agents struggle to respond to the administration’s aggressive enforcement agenda.

The agency has launched recruitment drives to relieve stress by hiring thousands of new executives as quickly as possible, but it can probably take months.

All those interviewed by Reuters supported immigration enforcement in principle. But they criticized the Trump administration’s push for high daily arrest allocations, with thousands of people with no criminal history, long-term green cardholders, others with legal visas, and even US citizens being detained.

Most current and former ICE officials requested anonymity due to concerns about retaliation against themselves or former colleagues.

Americans are flooding social media images of masked agents in tactical gear handcuffing people in neighbourhood streets, workplaces, schools, churches, courts and driveways. Several videos of arrests have become viruses and promoted public outrage over tactics.

Under Trump, average daily arrests by 21,000 powerful agencies have skyrocketed, up over 250% in June compared to June, but daily arrest rates fell in July.

Trump says he wants to deport “the worst, the worst, the worst,” but ice figures show that non-criminals are being picked up.

Immigration emergency justifies long hours

Agency data obtained from the University of California, Berkeley, the deportation data project at the School of Law shows that Trump’s first six months of inauguration have reached 221 people a day, up from 80 people a day under President Joe Biden.

69% of immigrant arrests under Trump belonged to those who were subject to criminal convictions or pending charges, numbers show. Some ICE agents are frustrated that hundreds of specialized ice research agents, usually focusing on serious crimes such as human trafficking and cross-border gangs, are reassigned to everyday immigration enforcement.

In an interview with Reuters, Trump border emperor Tom Homan admitted that the long hours and reallocation of experts wanted ice personnel, but said the January 20 declaration of a national emergency on illegal immigration justified that.

“We have staff who want to do other types of investigations, but the president has declared a national emergency,” Homan said.

Homan, who spent 30 years in immigration enforcement and joined ICE at the start of 2003, said that the lengthy hours should be reduced as new ICE staff hire speeds up.

“I think morale is good. I think morale will improve as we bring more resources,” he said.

Another stressor for more senior officials is the lasting threat of being ruled out for failing arrests highlighted by multiple leadership changes at ICE since Trump took office in January, five ICE officials said.

In response to a request for comment, the ICE parent agency, a senior U.S. Department of Homeland Security official, downplayed concerns about morale and said officers were targeted by attacks and were most plagued by targeting criticism from Democrats.

The senior official said he was “excited to be able to work again” after ICE officials were restricted under Biden.

Agents under intense pressure

Current and former ICE officials said they are at the heart of the complaints. He said this is the White House’s request for ICE to increase the number of immigrant arrests, which are 10 times the daily arrest rate last year to around 3,000 a day under Trump’s Democratic predecessor.

In some cases, raid officials have moved on to the wrong address following leads relying on artificial intelligence, increasing the likelihood of picking up the wrong person or putting officers at risk, according to current and two former staff members.

“The demands they placed on us were unrealistic. It was not done in a safe way to make us most successful,” the current official said.

During recent attacks in several US cities, masked ice agents have faced angry residents demanding they identify themselves and kick them out of their neighborhoods.

“In many communities, they don’t look like the work they do, so I’m sure it’s stressful for them and their families,” said Kelly Doyle, former top legal counsel at ICE.

ICE faced backlash between Trump’s 2017 and 2021 presidency when activists and some Democrats cried out “to abolish the ice,” but the agency’s more aggressive enforcement in recent months has even fallen into the spotlight.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll in August showed Trump’s public recognition rate fell to 43% as Americans saw the administration’s forceful tactics dimly from 50% in March.

That view is partly shaped by news reports that students have been arrested on campus or on their way to sports practice, being detained while dropping off children at school, smashing windows and pulling people out of their cars, surrounded and bound people while waiting at bus stops or at their home warehouse.

A former ICE official said at the beginning of the administration that several former colleagues told him they were happy with the “cuffs off.”

But a few months later, he said he was “overwhelmed” by the number of arrests the administration is demanding.

“They’ll prefer to go back to intensive targeting,” he said. “They were once able to say, ‘We’re arresting criminals.’ ”

10,000 Employment Disabilities

The Republican spending package passed in Congress in July gave more money than almost every other federal law enforcement agency.

The Trump administration has launched a fierce recruitment drive behind the new funds to achieve its goal of hiring 10,000 ICE officers over the next four years.

Using wartime-style posters and slogans such as “America Needs You,” Ice has launched a media blitz, which is very unusual for government agencies running ads on social media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube.

Homeland Security said more than 115,000 “patriotic Americans” applied for ice jobs, but for any period it didn’t say that.

Recruitment is similar to a similar surge in signing on to Border Patrol agents in the mid-2000s, with opposition saying the rise in corruption and fraud in that rank.

Asked about the risk of rushing fewer qualified people to staff, Homan said ice should choose “quality over quantity.”

“Officers still need to do background investigations. They still need to be vetted. They still need to make sure they are going to the academy,” Homan said.

2025 EV Charging Market Report shows obstacles to electric vehicle purchases

0

play

  • According to telemetry, not owning your own home presents considerable complications with installing an EV charging.
  • Installing a home charger costs an average of $2,000.

As adoption of electric vehicles rises, more Americans will need to clean their garages.

This is because residential charging systems are important for courting higher EV sales, as a surprising number of car buyers cannot access a 240 volt outlet close enough to the car’s parking location, according to the Michigan-based strategic communications agency’s first 2025 EV charging market report.

While most American homes can support such outlets, Telemetry, the agency, has discovered that a third of American homeowners with garages cannot park there.

“You can have a charger outside your garage. Or, if you don’t have a garage at all, you can get a charger installed outside. It’s not that expensive.” Abuelsamid is an analyst with over 11 years of experience in making similar reports.

“Or you can adjust your actions at home and get yours moving,” he added.

The study also found that it was compiled by telemetry using a combination of proprietary predictions, US and Canadian government data resources, external industry analysis, and journalistic citations.

  • Direct current fast chargers account for less than 3.85% of chargers in private networks in the US and Canada, costing up to $70,000 for installation.
  • Telemetry’s light work forecast project, with EVS in the range of 20% to 44% of all new vehicle sales in North America by 2035 and 33 million to 57 million EVs, forecasts the project.
  • If an electric vehicle reaches its market range, it will need to install a home charger by 2035.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory estimates that 42% of homeowners can park near existing electrical access and be modified to work with a Level 2 charger, Telemetry said on August 20, stating that if homeowners choose to clear their garage, it will skyrocket to 68%.

Level 2 chargers are found at most public charging stations and are considered ideal for home charging systems as well. They are one of three main types of electric vehicle charging. The Level 1 charger is similar to a plug on a lamp, and takes about 20 hours to charge 120 miles. On the other hand, Level 3 Fast Chargers can mostly charge your electric vehicle within 30 minutes.

Financial and structural hurdles

Other findings from this study show that electric vehicle ownership still supports Americans who own homes. Home charging accounts for 80% of all electric vehicle charging. This makes sense as more than 80% of all EV owners own the home.

“The majority of people don’t buy new cars and nearly 90% of all EVs on the road have been built over the past seven years,” Abuel el AMID said. “People who are buying new cars tend to be a little more wealthy.”

Three of the four in southeastern Michigan housing units (homes and apartments where people live) had access to garages or carports in 2023, according to the Census Bureau’s U.S. Housing Survey. However, one in four rental households in Michigan spent more than half of their income in 2023 to cover housing expenses, including rent and utility services.

If you don’t own your own home, “it presents a considerable amount of complexity in installing an EV charging,” Abuelsamid said.

Data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that 54% of homes occupied by city-owners in 2023, the most recent data available, with 137,567 of a total of 255,857 vehicles. Michigan has a high owner-occupied housing rate, reaching 73.7% in 2023.

Home charging remains a challenge, according to telemetry. Of the 20% of new EV buyers living in multifamily homes, only 11% report parking near charging access to their residence.

Even those who own their own homes may be outrageous in the cost of upgrading electrical access for use of their vehicles, Abuelsamid noted. Older homes can run with a limited 100 amp circuit breaker, and the use of priority voltages to charge a proper home can be a considerable drain.

For people with very short commutes, Abuel Elsimid connected to a standard 120 volt outlet and said “you might need it,” perhaps an hour or two.

For those who need more range, an upgrade to the home’s electrical system may be required, and even more expensive if the circuit breaker is close enough to where you plan to charge your car.

“If you’re close to a garage or a parking lot, that’s relatively easy,” Abuel Elmid said. “But if the breaker panel is on the other side of your home, it could add hundreds of dollars to the installation cost just for the wires. If you need to upgrade the panel, you’re talking potentially thousands of dollars to do that.”

EV sales are rising sharply

Despite these barriers, telemetry estimated that the U.S. EV market share will more than double in 10 years. This means that more than 40% of all new vehicle sales in 10 years may be electricity, accounting for 20% of total sales compared to under 10% today. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are approximately 305 million registered vehicles in the United States.

EV sales have skyrocketed this summer due to the upcoming expiration of the $7,500 EV tax credit after President Donald Trump cuts clean vehicle tax credits under what he calls “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Cox Automotive cited sales growth last month as car buyers raced to get to some of the highest EV sales on record using discounts. Cox initially estimated that July’s EV sales were the second-best month in history, with over 130,000 vehicles representing a 20% increase from the previous year.

EV adoption is moving slower than carmakers expect, and hasn’t grown meaningfully across the industry outside of current spikes, according to Lenny Larocca, US auto leader in audit, tax and advisory firms.

Even some of the new launches said, “EVS is not in the price range, mass markets are really excited, and range anxiety remains the main hurdle for adoption,” LaRocka told the Free Press. “For longer trips, EVs are not the preferred choice at the moment. Without a reliable network of charging, it really limits the market.”

Throughout the public and private networks in the US and Canada, Telemetry expects today’s dollars to cost between $132.6 billion and $1431.1 billion if the right EV charging equipment is installed to reach expected demand in 2035.

Private homeowners can expect to pay around $45.4 billion to $50.4 billion in total, assuming an average of $2,000 per installed charger.

US military suspects “drug ship” from Venezuela in the Caribbean

0

play

The US military killed 11 Trenda Aragua members on September 2 on a suspicious drug ship that originated from Venezuela in the southern Caribbean.

The move, announced by President Donald Trump at a press conference, marks a milestone in the increasingly militarized US counter-drug efforts in the region. Trump secretly approved military force against drug cartels in early August.

Trump explained the strike in a post about True Society.

“This morning, on my order, the US military launched a campaign attack on Tren Aragua Narcoterrorists who were actively identified against Tren de Aragua Narcoterrorists in the responsible Southcom area,” Trump said. “The strike occurred when terrorists were transporting illegal drugs and were in the ocean in international waters heading to the US. The strike was killed in action with 11 terrorists.”

Later that day, the White House posted a rough black and white “uncategorized” video that was allegedly shown an open boat on the high seas as it was taken out on a military strike and engulfed in flames. “In video: The US military has taken a strike against Tren de Aragua Narcoterrorists,” the X post said.

A considerable US fleet is now floating in the body of strike waters. A Tomahawk Cruise Missile and four destroyers carrying more than 4,500 Marines and seafarers are deployed in the area.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro claimed to reporters on September 1 that Trump was “seeking a change of administration due to military threats.” He insisted that his country’s army was “very prepared” to confront the US troops when necessary.

Trump has picked out Maduro in the post of Truth, claiming that Tren de Aragua is “run under the control of Nicolas Maduro.” US authorities are offering a $50 million reward for his arrest.

Members of the US law enforcement and the Coast Guard previously had fatal sea encounters with drug smugglers in the Caribbean.

Derek Martz, the administrator of Trump’s previous acting DEA, praised Trump for launching a military strike and told USA Today that a fatal US attack on drug-loaded cartel ships was rare, if not unprecedented, and was postponed for a long time.

“I don’t know the top of my head on a military strike on a boat packed with drugs. I don’t remember in my time at the DEA,” Marz said. “I’m not saying that it didn’t happen in terms of using DOD assets on things like this. We’ve been working very closely with Colombia in years of training and military operations, as well as in a variety of essentially sensitive businesses.”

“From my point of view, it’s a very important event, but very consistent with what President Trump wanted,” Martz told USA Today. “I have long said that law enforcement solutions are not sufficient to address these global terrorists operating in the Western Hemisphere, the same as when al-Qaeda, Isis or Hezbollah is running a chemical weapons boat road.”

White House officials said they could not comment on what intelligence or evidence was used to determine that those killed in the military strike were members of Tren de Aragua. “These individuals were TDA narcoterrorists,” the official said. Speaking about the terms of anonymity, they were not permitted to comment by name. “We have not commented on issues of intelligence with the media.”

Kenneth Ross, a Princeton professor of public and international affairs and former executive director of Human Rights Watch, criticized the strike.

“Drug trafficking is not an act of war, it’s a crime, I said in X.

The Trump administration designated Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel and other drug gangs, as well as Venezuelan crime group Trender Lagua, as a global terrorist organization in February, and Trump strengthened immigration enforcement against gang members.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other administration officials said the administration could use the military to chase cartels containing deadly forces.

House Oversight Committee releases subpoena for Epstein files

0

play

WASHINGTON – The House Oversight Committee has released Jeffrey Epstein’s first document tranche.

The committee said it had released a 33,295-page file it received from Epstein’s Department of Justice, a convicted sex offender.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Kommer issued a subpoena on records related to the Department of Justice Epstein on August 5 after a bipartisan group of lawmakers voted in favor of the measure in July on July 5.

Democrats on the committee say most documents are not new.

The first batch of documents comes after President Donald Trump, who was once Epstein’s best friend, faced weeks of criticism over the Justice Department’s refusal to release all of the Epstein documents.

USA Today was unable to immediately independently check which of the records were new and not previously published.

However, the first batch of documents is unlikely to satisfy Democrats and other Trump critics who demanded the Justice Department to disclose all documents from the government’s Epstein investigation.

Rep. Robert Garcia of D-California, a ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, said 97% of the records released in the first tranches had already been previously published. He said most were the same record as Attorney General Pam Bondy, who was offered to right-wing influencers in February.

“Most of that is already in public records,” Garcia said. “What we need now is full compliance with the subpoena, and the Attorney General who said that all (Epstein) files that once were on her desk should release all the files right away.”

Rep. Ro Khanna, another Democrat on the committee, said the Justice Department has released only 1% of all government Epstein files to the committee.

The Department of Justice handed over to the file on August 22nd in response to the subpoena.

The controversy over the Epstein Files tested the relationship between the Trump administration and the president’s MAGA base, annoying former businessmen. That friendship with Epstein ended in the mid-2000s after Trump said he had stole a worker from him and that he had stole it.

Comer said in a statement on August 18th that DOJ will soon submit its first batch of documents. However, he warned that the release was incomplete.

“There are many records under DOJ custody, and it takes time for the department to make all records and identify victim and child sexual abuse material being compiled,” he said at the time.

The committee also issued deposits of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former senior federal law enforcement officers, including James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Loretta Lynch, Eric Garland, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Burr, Jeff Sessions and Alberto Gonzalez.

The law will make all Epstein files public

The release of Epstein Documents occurs in a push led by lawmakers to mandate the release of all files related to the case.

Rep. Khanna and R-Kentucky Thomas Massie are leading efforts to pass the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which forces General Epstein to release all Justice Department files related to Epstein in a searchable format.

Massie introduced the bill on July 15th, and it was introduced to the House Rules Committee, according to Congress.gov, a website for tracking legislation before Congress.

With all 212 Democrats supporting the effort, there are only six Republicans who need to sign on, Khanna said NBC’s “meet the media with Kristen Welker.”

Khanna is planning a press conference on September 3rd, with 10 Epstein victims saying they say. Kanna said the press conference was “explosive” and could force additional lawmakers to sign on.

Former US lawyer Jessica Aber’s cause of death has been revealed

Former US lawyer Jessica Abber died of natural causes earlier this year, a Northern Virginia medical inspector confirmed on September 2.

Officials said the 43-year-old woman’s death was “a sudden, unexpected death of epilepsy.” Jennifer Starkey, district medical gal administrator for the Chief Medical Inspector’s Office for the Northern District of Virginia, told USA Today in an email.

The former federal prosecutor was dealing with “long-standing medical issues.” Several outlets, including FoxNews and CBS News, reported at the time of her death, citing family friends.

Abbar was found at his home by Alexandria police on the morning of March 22nd.

She served as a US lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia from August 2021 until President Donald Trump took office in January.

Eric S. Siebert, the current US lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia, issued a statement after Abber’s death, saying the office was “grief” at the time.

“We are in awe of how much she achieved in this world in such a short time. Her professionalism, grace and legal insight set the standard,” writes Sheebert.

What has Jessica Aber achieved as a US lawyer?

As a federal prosecutor, Abba oversaw money laundering accusations against two Russian citizens. This is a guilty plea from Siemens’ energy to corporate spying and murder convictions against members of the MS-13 gang.

In 2023, the Eastern Virginia district charged four Russian service members with war crimes, including illegal confinement, inhumane treatment and torture of Ukrainian American citizens following the 2022 Russian invasion.

Aber resigned from the US Lawyer’s Office on January 20th and ended his tenure in 2006 when he began working as a secretary.

“I have the privilege of spending my career as a prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, working with talented, hardworking civil servants who manage issues affecting citizens here and around the world,” Abber said in January. “It was an honor beyond measurement to conclude my service to the district as a US lawyer.”

Chloe Malle replaces Vogue Magazine’s Anna Wintour.

Wintour edited the Vogue website, edited the “The Run-Sthrough” podcast and tapped Malle, the outlet’s lead as head of editorial content. After 37 years at the helm of the world’s most famous fashion periodicals, Wintour announced in June that he would resign from his editorial role.

“Some people who are interested in this job know that Anna was reluctant to the idea of going down the hall. I’m so happy that she’s down the hall with Clarice’s cliff ceramics,” Marle told the New York Times in a story released on September 2nd.

The 39-year-old is also the daughter of Emmy-winning actress Candice Bergen’s “Murphy Brown” fame, and also won an Oscar nod for 1979’s “Start Over.” Bergen also played the editor of Vogue in the early Ash sitcom Sex and the City.

Malle first joined Vogue in 2011 as an editor in the functional department and later contributed to the editorial role. Her transition to her main editorial role lies in the shift in journalism as the magazine pivots to establish new ways to grow among Gen Z consumers while retaining the presence of the magazine.

Wintour (known for her strict management style and iconic A-frame bob) remains in her current role as Chief Content Manager at Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director for Vogue.

Since its launch with Vogue in 1988, Wintour has been in the front row of the New York Fashion Week Show, directing Met Gala and firmly seated what it considers the shiny pages of magazines as the “fashion Bible” and became synonymous with the high fashion scene.

Great Lakes Slowdown is the largest track show in the Midwest

0

play

  • This is the fourth time the Great Lakes slowdown has been held.
  • The event took place on Saturday, August 30th at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan.
  • The slowdown is known as “the largest track show in the Midwest.”

While most car shows revolve around normal sized vehicles, Michigan’s Great Lakes throw is about trucks.

On Saturday, August 30th, the fourth annual Great Lakes Slowdown, held at Pontiac’s M1 Concourse, featured tracks of all shapes and sizes scattered around the racetrack and car park. Some people had lowriders denounced on the ground, while others had lift kits that looked like monster trucks. Not only did they have plenty of pickup trucks and SUVs, but there were also shops selling live music, taco trucks, and cowboy boots and hats.

The show was intended to feature trucks, but regular cars could also take part in the show and become part of the festival.

Burnout Pit

At the start of the event, spectators were scattered around the concourse, but the crowd quickly gathered when they heard the sound of cars approaching the designated burnout pit. The first car, a 2001 Camaro, started a party, creating a wall of smoke, roaming in the pits, burning rear tires. Although not a truck, the Camaro driver was one of the most skilled at the event. The driver did such a great job that some people were a little disappointed by the car that followed him.

Not all cars and trucks had the right drift build in the pits. Something with rear wheel drive and drivers who knew what they were doing went out there to give the crowd a show. Many drivers either kept the tires intact for another ride or brought a spare set. Several other drivers had to leave the truck for repairs, blowing the tires and causing other damage.

Pickup truck culture

A variety of track clubs participated in the event, and many traveled around the country. Team Billet featured one of the most prominent figures in the modified track scene. Reuben Garcia, a native of Houston, Texas, even known as “El Scarface,” spoke to fans when she wasn’t busy burning the rubber. He brought in a 1999 Ford F-150, making him a hardcore burnout.

Garcia said, “We’ve completely wiped it out and tried and error with the motor setup. Now is the point where she’s working pretty well.” The truck had a twin-turbo, 5.0-liter coyote engine that could put around 1,200 horsepower. The truck is now excluded, with a whopping 859 HP, but that’s enough.

Culture was equally important to attendees, not just events related to tracks. “For the Hispanic community, that means a lot because we’re interested in pinning our trucks, looking good and having a good time,” Garcia said.

Small truck, big dreams

The high lift kit attracted a lot of attention, but the low rider track was just as stylish.

Jeremy Kampau of Melvindale brought his 1999 GMC Sonoma in a sophisticated carbon fiber composite wrap hood in metallic emerald green. It was able to be lowered all the way to the ground with a custom air ride suspension. Spinning Bolt-On Rim was an original spinner that was released when it first became popular in the late 90s and early 2000s. The engine was recently rebuilt and only has 8,000 miles, but Campau estimates that the car itself has around 500,000 miles.

“My favorites are the spinner and colour,” Kampau said of the car. “My favorite thing is that there are so many. As a teen, I wanted a lot of it and I built it exactly the same as the teen I wanted.”

Lots of food and live bands

Another big attraction at the event was the food. There were several food trucks selling traditional Mexican food such as tacos, quesadillas and burritos, and we went with freshly made limonadas and holchata. The main bands appeared late in the evening, but there were several small bands playing near the track. Estilo 45, Los Escoltas de la Sierra, and Los Picudos were the main groups in the show on the main stage.

What is a Space command? What Trump knows to move around headquarters

0

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday, September 2nd that Space Command’s headquarters will be relocating from Colorado to Alabama.

The headquarters of the US Space Command will continue to move under new decisions from the Trump administration.

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday, September 2nd that Space Command’s headquarters will be relocating from Colorado to Alabama. The move is the latest update to a long-standing battle over the home of the military’s latest combatant commander’s home, currently based in Colorado Springs.

But while Colorado officials have touted the state’s relationship with the Air Force as a reason for space command, Alabama officials have long worked hard to make Huntsville, the state’s biggest city, a much better base, as an aerospace and defense hub. With rivals like Russia and China making similar advances in their own space, the city is now poised to become a major location for operations to expand the power of the US military into space.

With Trump’s new decision to move its headquarters, there’s everything you need to know about the US Space Command.

What is US Space Command? What does Space Command do?

The US Space Command is responsible for military operations that go beyond the Earth’s atmosphere, or for more than about 62 miles of military operations. This includes protecting the satellite from potential threats.

More specifically, Space Command performs operations such as enabling satellite-based navigation and military communication, providing warnings for missile launches.

What is the difference between Space Force and Space Command?

The US Space Force is the military service division, which is responsible for organizing, training and equipment the military, like the Army and Navy.

Space Command, meanwhile, is the commander of combatants under the US Department of Defense, which conducts military operations using troops from all military sectors, including the Space Force.

According to the Department of Defense, just as the Marines fall under the Navy Department rather than having their own division, the Air Force division was originally called the Air Force Space Command, so Space Force falls under the Air Force division.

When was Space Command established?

Space Command was created in 1985 to provide joint command and management to all military forces in the universe before it was integrated into the US strategic command in 2002.

Space Command was then reestablished in 2019 under the first Trump administration, with a new focus on potential space-based combat.

Where does Space Command have its headquarters?

Space Command is tentatively operated from Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs.

Trump’s decision to move headquarters to Huntsville, Alabama overturns movements made under former President Joe Biden’s administration. Biden had chosen Colorado Springs as a permanent home for Space Command in 2023, and supporters of the location said it was perfect for military preparation.

But Huntsville, home to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and the main hub of defense contractors, has long lobbyed at Space Command headquarters. The Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command is also located in Huntsville. Huntsville is called “Rocket City” because of its role in building the first rocket that helped the United States reach the moon.

A report released by the Government’s Office of Accountability in June 2022 found that the Alabama site was a “priority location” over the other five.

How many people are employed by Space Command?

According to Congressional records, about 1,700 people work on Space Command.

Billy Bob Thornton’s big oil drama is even more flammable in season 2

play

  • Sam Elliott joins the cast of “Landman” in Season 2 and reunites with Billy Bob Thornton.
  • Demi Moore’s character Kami plays a more prominent role in the season 1 finale after the death of her husband Monty (John Ham).
  • After reuniting with Tommy, his ex-wife Angela (Ali Later) continues to burn in colour.

FORT WORTH, Texas – Billy Bob Thornton hit Garsher in November playing Tommy Norris, the big oil crisis manager for Hardrive in “Landman.” Paramount+ says that nearly 15 million people have watched the series within four weeks of its debut.

The second-floor hierarchical oil drama of “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan ended season one with on-screen heartache and the death of charismatic M-Tex oil CEO Monty Miller (Jon Hamm). Hamm finishes his run, and Thornton (70) harnesses the star power reinforcements for season 2 (premiere on November 16th), as these exclusive First Look Photos show.

Western legend Sam Elliot joins the cast as a character called TL, while Demi Moore and Andy Garcia play a bigger role in season 2.

Elliot, 81, is already burning the epic trails of Sheridan universe as Shea Brennan, the grizzly wagon train leader in the 2021 prequel, “1883,” the magnificent trails of Sheridan universe. Thornton and Elliott share credits in “1883” and in the 1993 western film “The Tombstone.”

“Sam and I are back and he’s my long-time hero,” Thornton tells USA Today during his visit to the “Landman” set.

Thornton recalls how he commutes to Elliott’s “grandstones” and his co-star Bill Paxton commutes. “And at the end of the day we opened our beer-filled ice breasts, all of us had it and then we went to our hotel room.”

Sheridan raps details of Elliott’s “Landman” character. But Monty’s death guarantees updated drama at every level, from Cutthroat’s boardroom to the West Texas rig, where Tommy’s son Cooper (Jacob Lofland) began as an entry-level worker with great ambitions.

The fallout clashes with the mourning cami (Moore) and forces a quick transition to legacy as a husband’s company guardian and board member. In season 2, social people rise to business challenges. Character Ark Thornton says that he has always been part of Sheridan’s plan.

“Taylor mapped it,” says Thornton. “Last season, Demi was essentially the wife of a big man. There was no much to do. Taylor always knew she wasn’t short on, but (instead) he knew there was a plan that was the whole time.”

Tommy also embraced the job of the company president, following the promotion of unnecessary work with the death of his longtime friend Monty. It’s a different world for a capable fixer, managing everything on the ground, from oil violations to cartel threats. Don’t expect Tommy to pull up his hanging wrangler jeans or stop wrangler.

“There’s something about that fixer’s job that fuels him. The president’s is an additional pressure that Tommy really didn’t want because he certainly didn’t expect,” Thornton says. “But I’m there and I care enough about the company to keep it up for my old peers.”

Tommy’s balancing act involves navigating an uneasy relationship with the attractive and dangerous cartel King Ping Garino (Andy Garcia). Gallino saved Tommy, who was gas-soaked from the cartel execution in the season finale, but quickly turned his own fever on by proposing a business alliance.

Ainsley is tied to college in “Landman” season 2

Filterless daughter Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) heads to college, where the modest Texas Ranch Style House Tommy House shares it with M-Tex lawyer Nathan (Colm Feore) and engineer roommate Dale (James Jordan).

The ex-wife Angela (Ali Later), who moved in Season 1, is reunited and continues to bring an emotional recharge to the house.

“Angela throws these dinner parties, where I’m going to say something that inevitably makes her extra crazy,” says Thornton. “That’s what makes those scenes so much more interesting. After having dinner overnight, no one tuned it out.”

Trump will send National Guard to Chicago amid violence

President Donald Trump said he plans to send National Guard to Chicago after the city was hit with violence over Labor Day weekend.

play

  • President Donald Trump said he plans to send National Guard to Chicago after the city was hit with violence over Labor Day weekend.
  • Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has signed an executive order to prevent city police from supporting federal agents.
  • The Trump administration is also preparing to send more ice officers for immigration enforcement efforts in the city.

President Donald Trump has declared plans for him to send the National Guard to Chicago after the city went through a violent Labor Day weekend.

“We’re going in,” Trump said at a briefing in the oval office on September 2nd.

“Look, I have an obligation,” the president told reporters. “This is not political. I have an obligation.”

Trump’s comments come after California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, Illinois JB Pretzker, whom he is responsible for, and has repeatedly targeted all Democratic governors, the 2028 presidential candidate.

Chicago police said at least eight people were killed and another 58 were injured in shootings in the city over the weekend, according to multiple reports. Trump refers to the fatal holiday weekend, calling Chicago “the world’s worst and most dangerous city” in his post on True Society.

“Pritzker needs help so badly, he doesn’t know that yet,” Trump said. “We’ll solve the crime problem quickly, like we did with DC. Chicago will be safe again and soon safe. Make America great again!”

The president later continued with another true social post, declaring, “Chicago is the murderous capital of the world!” It is unclear when the president will be able to send his troops.

The weekend violence said Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order on August 30, saying, “how to stand up against this tyranny.” The mayor said Chicago police will not support the National Guard with immigration enforcement or related activities such as traffic stops and Manning Checkpoints, according to the order.

“This is a very clear distinction between what our law enforcement is doing and what our federal agents are engaged in,” Johnson said at a news conference. “This president is not going to invite our police station.”

Chicago reported 278 murders in 2025, according to city data. The city’s violent crime rate has declined by 22% compared to the same period a year ago. The statistics are similar to the July Criminal Justice Report Council, indicating that most categories of crime have declined in other cities across the United States.

The Trump administration is also preparing to send more ice to Chicago.

Trump had previously threatened to send troops to Chicago, as he did in Washington, DC and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Chicago was also decorated for federal immigration enforcement efforts.

Illinois Lt. Col. Juliana Stratton told CNN on September 2 that immigration and customs enforcement officers were coming to Chicago this week.

“This isn’t about public safety, it’s not about making residents safer. What Donald Trump wants to happen is that he wants to manufacture the crisis,” Stratton said. “He wants to be able to cause some sort of crisis where he can say he’s coming to rescue.”

Illinois Sen. Chuy Garcia, a Democrat representing Chicago, told CNN on September 2 that Trump’s move is a distraction tactic to distract him from “mass violations” of the Epsteinfiles, California’s constituency and Texas’ voting rights.

“It’s very clear that what the president is doing is not public safety. It’s not about law and order. It’s a show of power. It’s about blackmailing, it’s about controlling and instilling fear in cities that oppose him,” Garcia said.

Meanwhile, one city leader, 15th Ward mayor Raymond Lopez, posted on social media on September 2nd, criticising fellow city and state leaders for allowing the National Guard to come to Chicago after a violent weekend.

“If @potus is paying, the National Guard should come here. We will protect assets and high-priority targets, not our community. Goals!”

Congress is facing a potential shutdown of the government’s suspension on October 1st. Things I know.

0

Lawmakers on both parties have begun warning of potential shutdowns due to differences in policy, with each jockey denounced the other.

play

WASHINGTON – Congress is facing the prospect of a partial government shutdown on October 1st.

The argument comes after a federal court of appeals could overturn President Donald Trump’s tariffs and blow a $4 trillion hole in his budget over the next decade.

And Trump has opposed some Republicans in a narrowly divided Congress by refusing to spend the billions already approved by lawmakers.

Here’s what you need to know about possible shutdowns that may come in handy:

Senate Democratic leader Schumer warns of “sharp contrast” with GOP

Senate Republicans are pushing for short-term funding patches to ensure one year’s deal time. But Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, D-New York, urged his colleagues on September 2 to not help Republicans help Trump move towards authoritarianism.

“Senate Republicans have to make a decision. They either stand up to the legislative sector or allow them to slide into Trump’s authoritarianism,” Schumer wrote. “This month gives us the opportunity to show a sharp contrast between our agenda and the opposite side of chaos and extremism.”

Schumer said House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-New York, agreed.

Mike Marinella, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, said it is the House GOP’s campaign division.

“Republicans are focusing on keeping their government open and working for the American people, but Democrats are threatening confusion to protect their extremist agenda,” Marinella said in a statement.

GOP Sen. Collins challenges Trump’s spending cuts

Key Senate Republicans have already challenged Trump’s move to cut nearly $5 billion that Congress approved foreign aid, causing clashes among members of the president’s own party.

In a one-page letter on August 28, Trump notified House Speaker Mike Johnson in a one-page letter that he plans to withdraw a total of $4.9 billion in spending from the State Department and the US International Development Agency.

“Last night, President Trump cancelled $4.9 billion in the US using the pocket withdrawal,” the Office of Business and Budget said in a social media post. “(President Trump) will always put America first!”

However, the head of the Approval Committee, Sen. Susan Collins of R-Maine, opposed the move.

“Efforts to withdraw funds allocated without Congressional approval are a clear violation of the law,” Collins said on August 29.

Congress could block Trump’s move, but it’s unclear if that will happen.

The appeals court overturned Trump’s tariffs as the fundraising fight heated

The fight over government spending has reignited after the federal court overturned Trump’s important new funds by collecting tariffs on imports from other countries.

The heart of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7-4 decision of the Federal Circuit on August 29 was that Trump had stepped over his authority by imposing tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Force Act of 1977.

The decision could knock a $4 trillion hole in Trump’s budget over the next decade. The Congressional Budget Office predicted that tariffs would raise $3.3 trillion, cutting $700 billion over that period.

The Court of Appeals left the tariffs until October 14th, giving the administration the opportunity to appeal. Attorney General Pam Bondy said she would appeal to the Supreme Court.

But a decision from the High Court may not arrive before a clash of spending comes to mind in Congress. Trump has acknowledged the financial dilemma created by tariff losses.

“Today, the highly partisan court of appeals mistakenly said that our tariffs should be removed, but they know that the United States will ultimately win,” Trump said on social media. “If these tariffs disappear, it will be a complete disaster for the country. It will make us economically weak and we must be strong.”

Trade unions and activists protest against Trump

Negotiations over federal spending come after the Labor Day weekend of protests organized by unions and community activists against the Trump administration.

The rally aims to demonstrate the power of the working class in cities such as Boston, Chicago, Detroit, and New York.

Hundreds of protesters gathered in New York across Fifth Avenue from Trump Tower. The protesters handed out tacos. Some critics adopted the acronym taco, “Trump always kicked out chickens.” Protesters also chanted slogans such as “New York is a working town.”

White House spokesman Taylor Rogers told USA Today:

Starbucks announces the release date for protein latte, protein cold foam

Some Starbucks customers can quickly select another item when ordering their favorite caffeinated drink.

The coffee chain, announced on Tuesday, September 2nd, will offer all coffee houses in the US and Canada with a new line of protein cold foam and protein lattes made from protein-fortified milk from September 29th.

Starbucks said in a news release that the latte and cold foam are 15-36 grams of protein (16 ounces) per grande, and that the drink is part of the company’s “strategy to promote innovation and modernize the menu.”

Customers can add protein cold foam to any cold drink, the company said, and the foam will be served in a variety of flavors, including new banana flavors, sugar-free vanilla and chocolate.

Additionally, customers can add protein boost milk to any beverage where milk is part of the recipe, including lattes, ice-shake espresso and coconut milk refreshes.

“When we return to Starbucks, we are focused on modernizing our menu with innovative, relevant and hype-worthy products that resonate with our customers,” Tressie Leiberman, Starbucks’ global chief brand officer, said in a news release. “Our new protein drinks take advantage of the growing consumer demand for protein in an innovative, premium and delicious way that only Starbucks can offer.”

The fall menu announced last week by Starbucks includes the return of the pumpkin spice latte

Starbucks’ Autumn 2025 menu became available last week, including the revival of the highly popular pumpkin spice latte.

The return of PSL, first introduced in 2003, has become an annual end-of-summer ritual since Starbucks introduced drinks. Over the past 20 years, customers have been looking forward to PSL’s return.

Starbucks’ most popular seasonal drinks – Available in hot, iced and blends, PSL is made with real pumpkin flavors, pumpkin-related spices (including cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves), Starbucks signature espresso and steamed milk. The drink is topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices.

Also, Starbucks’ fall menu has revived favorites such as pumpkin cream cold brew, iced pumpkin cream chai and pecan crunch oatmill crate.

New Pecan Oatmilk Cortado on the menu and a new Italian sausage egg bite. Returned foods include pumpkin cream cheese muffins and raccoon cake pops.

Added earlier this year, Starbucks’ new style of coffee drinks, Cortado, is made with three wristlet shots of blonde espresso and steamed milk (the shots of the wristlet espresso are smaller and more concentrated than traditional ones). The current option is Brown Sugar Oat Milk Cortado.

Rudy Giuliani helped a woman before crash, police say

0

play

Former New York mayor, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, had helped a woman involved in a domestic violence incident before the car accident that left him at the hospital, police said.

Giuliani and his driver, Theodore Goodman, were driving on Interstate 93 near Manchester, New Hampshire.

Goodman, Giuliani, and the driver of the other vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a community hospital in an ambulance for treatment, state police said.

Giuliani has been diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebrae, compatible with multiple lacerations, and injury to the left arm and lower limb, his security head, Michael Lagusa, said in a post on Aug. 31.

Ragusa said Giuliani and Goodman “support victims of domestic violence” before crashing. Police confirmed the Ragusa report and provided details about the crash in the September 1 update.

Giuliani was released from hospital after a car accident, his son says

Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew Giuliani said in an interview on WABC’s Cat and Cosby radio show September 1 that his father was released from hospital.

“I’m happy to report he left the hospital today,” Andrew Giuliani said. “Walking, thanking God, breaking his vertebrae, obviously he’s in a lot of pain, but as you all know, few people are as harsh as Rudy Giuliani.”

The New York Times also reported that Giuliani had been released, citing Ragusa and Giuliani’s friend Arthur Adara.

USA Today has contacted Ragusa for more information.

In his first statement, Ragusa said that Giuliani is “well and incredibly recovering.”

“This was not a targeted attack. Please respect Mayor Giuliani’s privacy and recovery and refrain from spreading unfounded conspiracy theories,” Ragusa said in X.

Police confirm Giuliani helped a woman “involved in a domestic violence incident” before crash

Before the accident, former lawyers for President Donald Trump, Giuliani and Goodman, were flagged by a woman on the side of the road who she said she was involved in a domestic violence incident, police confirmed in a September 1 update.

Goodman reported the incident to law enforcement just after 9pm, and he and Giuliani remained on the scene until police arrived. The two men left the scene after informing troopers that they had seen them, state police said.

Police said the crash remained under investigation, including whether “distraction or curiosity in the first scene” was a factor.
