College Football Week 3 Pressure for Notre Dame, Archmanning

0

play

  • Notre Dame’s playoff chances are taking place in upcoming games against Texas A&M after an opening loss to Miami.
  • Clemson is facing a key game against Georgia Tech after a disappointing start to the season.
  • The matchup between No. 3 Georgia and No. 15 Tennessee will form a significant SEC Championship race.

10 wins seem to be the magic number for the college football playoffs, based on the first year of the expanded format. But it’s just a solid limbobar for separating Power 4 crop cream from playoff competitors, but where and how important is their victory WHO?

No. 8 Notre Dame will be holding No. 16 Texas A&M this weekend after losing 27-24 to No. 6 Miami in the season opener. Down the line, the Hurricanes managed to win the ACC, earning a top-4 playoff seed and remove a stab wound from the result for the Fighting Irishman.

Back to last season: Notre Dame survived a terrible defeat to northern Illinois, making the playoffs and making the national championship game. Clearly, a single loss to Miami will not stand by Ireland if they care for the business against a schedule that features only additional opponents ranked in this week’s US LBM Coach poll.

When the Trojans visit South Bend in October, Southern California may fall below the top 25. Similarly in North Carolina. By the time November comes, the Navy and Pittsburgh could be in the mix for national rankings. These same teams may hover around bowl eligibility and do little to strengthen Notre Dame qualifications.

One loss in September is survivable against this schedule. The two losses immediately from the gate draw a completely different picture.

As they head towards Saturday, the Irish people have to accept the reality of this matchup. Losing to A&M is a potentially devastating blow to Notre Dame’s playoff hopes – perhaps not a fatal blow, but will seriously detain the national runner-up before the playoff bracket is released in early December.

This brings the Irishman into the spotlight when he is facing the most pressure towards the third week of the 2025 season, looking at his teams, games, coaches and quarterbacks.

Team: No. 11 Clemson

It was a nightmare two weeks for preseason ACC favorites, followed by a disappointing loss to No. 4 LSU, followed by a brighter, expected victory, often ughing against Troy. And this feels like a continuation of a disastrous trend. Clemson now dropped three of his five dates last season.

Throughout these two games, the Tigers have only four touchdowns, ranking 120th in the bowl subdivision for yards per game and 95th in yards per play. Stumbling out of the gate, he handed the ACC frontrunner status to the Hurricane, raising another round of serious questions about the viability of this team as a championship contender.

They could write off the Tigers considerably after losing on Saturday at Georgia Tech. This starts with a victory over Colorado and Gardner Webb. The second defeat in three weeks could require Clemson to run the table from here to justify consideration for a massive playoff, and demand an unharmed finish just to reach the ACC Championship Game.

There is still a sense of unknown around both teams, mainly due to the victory each posted up to two weeks. Georgia defeated Marshall and Austimpy, while Tennessee broke through Syracuse and East Tennessee. However, the volunteers looked better at the part, earning 117 points in total, averaging 605 yards per game, making it the second-best bowl plot.

The nasty weather and delays in extended matches have affected what the Bulldogs looked like in their victory over Austimpy. The attack adapts to tweaking the scheme and approach implemented to be suitable for new quarterback Gunnar Stockton. Overall, Georgia has brought back seven starters, with four additional players whose experience has been launched through the transfer portal.

Some early season struggles are not unexpected. And these hiccups could be a byproduct of Georgia.

Knoxville results shape the orientation of the SEC race. The Bulldogs can erase the doubt and give room for error against the slate highlighted by Texas 7, Mississippi, 13, and 18 Alabama. Volunteers can establish Prime Playoff positioning against schedules that include two more ranked teams in Crimson Tide and No. 16 Oklahoma.

Coach: Billy Napier, Florida

Napier is borrowed after the Gators lost 18-16 to South Florida.

His overall record speaks for itself: Napier is 20-20 in three or more seasons in Florida, giving him the lowest win percentage of any coach with at least 30 games in Florida in the modern era. Last weekend’s defeat was the program’s first home run to schools from Florida, other than Florida or Miami, since Stetson in 1938.

Given the Gators schedule, the chances of Napier returning for another year are almost infinite. The eight matchup gauntlet with the team in this week’s coach’s poll begins at LSU on Saturday night. This is closer to the must-see game four coaches will face in September.

The Gators have dropped six of their sevens at Baton Rouge and have not won two consecutive wins with this rival since 2008-9.

Quarterback: Archmanning, Texas

FBS quarterbacks are not familiar with wall-to-wall scrutiny. Not unexpected, his name, his reputation, and the fact that he is a Texas starter all plays a role – all Manning Throw’s analysis is far greater than the attention that has been noted by other players on FBS.

He scored five in his victory over San Jose State last week. This is a huge increase in production from the Ohio opener. However, Manning was still burning for something that looked as harmless as his frown after failing a side arm throw against the Spartan. (Steve Sarkisian said this week that Manning “has nothing.”

The SJSU victory is a first-year starter advancement. He must continue to improve what should have been another defeat against Texas El Paso this time. The Minor allowed 233 yards per attempt in a loss to Utah State and gave up 295 yards for 8.2 yards per throw in a win over Tennessee Martin last Saturday.

4 in 4 believes in a science-based vaccine shift: Reuters/Ipsos poll.

0

play

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 (Reuters) – A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that recent recommendations for the recent vaccine from President Donald Trump’s administration are based on scientific evidence and facts.

The administration has shown that young, healthy people and pregnant women should not get shots of the Covid-19 virus while still in the process of setting up a new vaccination policy. It shows the reversal of the historic vaccination drive against the disease that began at the end of the 2017-2021 presidential term.

In a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted Tuesday through Tuesday, 24% of respondents, including 5% of Democrats and 48% of Republicans, thought the recommendations for a new federal vaccine were based on science and facts.

Overall, 48% of respondents believe that the policy is not based on science or facts, and the rest do not choose not to answer questions.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Trump administration’s chief of health, overturned the federal government’s process of recommending vaccinations.

Last month, the Food and Drug Administration approved approval for the Covid-19 vaccine to adults age 65 and older, excluding young people at health risk.

Kennedy, who has long doubted the safety and efficacy of various vaccines against scientific evidence, was fired from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention last month. All 17 experts on the CDC’s advisory committee on vaccination practices were fired by Kennedy in June.

According to the federal register, the improved committee is scheduled to meet on September 18th and you can vote for new recommendations on hepatitis B, measles-mumps-rubera-baricera, respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV shots.

Many Americans, particularly Democrats, are worried that the Trump administration could bring back federal support for vaccines more widely.

When asked if they were worried about their future children not taking the vaccine they needed, 48% of respondents said they were concerned.

Four of the five Democrats said they are worried about their children’s future access to vaccines, as was the case with one in five Republicans and about half of independents. Approximately 42% of respondents said they were worried about future access to the vaccine.

The fight over vaccines is also unfolding in the state’s capital, with Republican-controlled Florida officials pledging to withdraw public school vaccination mandate, while Democratic-led state officials say they will make their own vaccine recommendations that diverge from federal recommendations.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll surveyed 1,084 US adults nationwide, with 3% points errors for all respondents and about 6 points for Republicans and Democrats.

“Philly’s Cullen” video raises baseball anger: Why we’re so angry

0

play

Unless you live under a rock without the internet, you probably have seen the video.

Baseball jumps into the stands during a Phillies game. Lots of fans go and get it. The man will grab it and bring it to his child – they will hug it. Later, the women approach them. She and the man exchange words. He appears to be calm. She is angry and aggressive. Eventually, he takes the ball from his son and hand it over to the woman.

That moment turned into a virus online. There, people are bashing women called “Philly’s Cullen” – defending men. The rage became so intense that the man Drew Feltwell urged the public to leave the women alone.

“Don’t do anything to that woman,” Feltwell told USA Today Sports on September 8th. “Leave it as is. Someone knows her and you can talk to her, that’s not true. But God, I don’t want people to break their homes or anything like that. The internet has already messed up her quite a bit.”

Mental health experts say it’s not surprising that the moment exploded like that. In addition to being dramatic, the video also serves as a lightning bolt of deep root emotions that permeate society, they say.

You are already doing your best, but we are here to make your life even better. Sign up for our newsletter better.

“Many people feel disenfranchised and uncounted,” says psychotherapist Stephanie Salkis. “To see such injustice happen… it really went home with a lot of people.”

The virus “Philly’s Cullen” and why she hit such a chord

With the power of the Internet, adults are notifying and acting at sporting events.

Most recently, there was a home run ball controversy that took place during a game between the Phillies and the Miami Marlins at Rondepot Park in Miami on September 5th. About a week ago, the CEO snatched the hat that Polish tennis star Kamil Majlzak tried to give to the boy.

Sarkis says these moments speak to something bigger than sports. After all, we live at once, she says, many people say that their voices don’t matter. For this reason, many people see adults steal baseball from their children.

“For a lot of people, just seeing someone behave that badly to someone who has all the rights and their kids, I think it really affects everyone,” says Sarkis. “Everyone feels that injustice, so I think we identify with it.”

Needless to say, she knows what it’s like to be blackmailed, threatened, or bullied for most people, and she adds that she can relate to her father and son.

“Someone can use intimidating tactics to get something that isn’t theirs,” says Sarkis. “A lot of people have experienced that.”

Licensed marriage and family therapist Eric Anderson says one of the inequality that what people are particularly working on now is the generational wealth gap. When he sees older people taking something from younger people, he says, this might be illustrated to many people.

“In the US today, we have a social narrative of the selfishness of older people that affect younger generations. There is a huge wealth gap between Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials and Generation Z, and the outcomes for each generation after Baby Boomers are getting worse,” he says. “Some of the resentment appears to be rooted in the resentment of that generation and the impact that older people feel is qualified and greedy for the younger generation.”

What is the big lesson in all of this?

There are some big lessons to take away from the video.

According to Sarkis, how well father models a tense, unpredictable situation by escalating and ultimately protecting the child’s safety – much more important than any baseball player.

“He had to think very quickly about what to do, so he uses it as a child’s education moment and this is how you de-induce it,” she says. “When there are people who are so bold to do something like this, I don’t know how much they escalate their actions.”

For those who are particularly upset about this video, Anderson recommends examining those emotions and channeling them in a healthy and productive way.

“The best way to work through these things is to find a way to be productive,” he says. “Not only is it worthy of anger, but in reality, it identifies one major social change you want to back up – identify the cleverly rational thing that you can fall behind.”

How Ohio Presidents Navigate Higher Education under Trump

0

Ted Carter University President is pushing forward with a series of changes in the Ohio and the Trump administration, and the accompanying backlash from students and faculty.

play

  • Ohio State President Ted Carter said he is not targeting federal probes to anti-Semitism and minority doctoral programs.
  • Carter said he defended an approach to new state law that restricts diversity programs and worked with lawmakers to maintain university autonomy.
  • The university faces criticism for closing diversity-related centres and restricting chokes on campus sidewalks.
  • A new state-mandated Civic Center has opened on campus. This is described by Carter as a space for discussion rather than as a right-wing entity.

WASHINGTON – Ohio State President Ted Carter doesn’t feel he’s been targeted by the federal government despite schools and other universities across the country facing scrutiny from the Trump administration.

The Land Cultivation College is one of dozens facing federal investigations related to anti-Semitism on campus. Carter said he believes the school is included in the investigation due to previous investigations launched under the Biden administration.

“I always talk to the staff and all the people. If we do the right thing, we will stick to our mission and everything will be fine,” Carter told USA Today. “So if someone wants to see us closely, if they ask why we are doing something specific, we welcome it.”

The university is also facing another investigation related to Project PhD, a program aimed at helping some minority students complete their business doctorate. Ohio spokesman Ben Johnson said the university had sent the response to investigators and had not responded. He added that doctoral programs are open to everyone and that the university “does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, or other protected classes.”

Carter visited the USA Today newsroom during Washington, DC, where he met with Ohio State University alumni working on Capitol Hill with Ohio State delegations. He is working with the US president to remake higher education on the challenges of academic independence as a Republican at the state and federal levels.

And while he doesn’t seem to be bothered by the attention of the federal government, he has questioned his approach on diversity issues and faces pushbacks from several faculty and staff who say he’s overreacting.

Carter’s approach to these controversial issues appears to embrace laws that he cannot change while trying to go ahead with them on university terms.

He was president when Ohio lawmakers passed Senate Bill 1. This is the Higher Education Act in February, which restricts universities from offering diversity, equity and comprehensive programs. It also prohibits any notable faculty and prevents them from taking controversial beliefs or policies stances defined by law as “climate policy, electoral politics, foreign policy, diversity, equity, inclusion programs, immigration policy, marriage, or abortion.”

Some public universities protested a similar bill in 2023, while Ohio did not publicly oppose Senate Bill 1. Carter said it is clear based on the composition of the state legislature in which the bill will be passed. He said his objection meant losing “the opportunity to discuss some of the changes we thought we could best do.”

He said lawmakers were able to access prior to the passage of the bill, and encouraged universities to maintain autonomy over how they comply with the law. He added that the university attempted to maintain the ability of student councillors to vote on board.

Navigate freedom of speech concerns

Carter also faces criticism from faculty and students when the university closed two centres related to diversity efforts ahead of SB1. The university is also cracking down on chokes on campus sidewalks, with critics saying it is hindering students’ rights to free speech. We also restricted ways that resident advisors decorate common areas of dorms with school-friendly themes.

Regarding the center, Ohio states say the closure is linked to Trump’s anti-DEI directive. Carter said many people are focusing on closure of the center, but it’s not what they’re in now. He mentioned Buckeye Commons, which replaces the Social Attribution Center. Provides career, financial and mental health resources to students. He added that no students have lost their scholarships due to the closure of the centre.

“Is it perfect? No,” Carter said. “But we’re still working on putting together some of this and we’ve done some hiring to build those spaces.”

As for chalk, Carter said the decision that it was an administrative issue rather than an attempt to cut speeches. The issue first occurred in October 2024 during a student protest related to the Israeli-Hamas War.

“It’s like we’re sitting on the sidewalk for hours and we’re in favor of it,” he said. “It became a serious administrative burden and it didn’t reflect what I believed was the right thing to do for the university.”

Carter added that other universities, such as Harvard University and the University of Maryland, had similar rules.

He also described the dorm decision as a bit off the “growth of SB 1”. He said the goal is to make sure that “the space in our public faces is not a personal place for people because of the place they want to express themselves.” Johnson sent a follow-up message adding the changes. It also stems from university reviews related to changes in state and federal regulations.

These free speech challenges come at a time when concerns about students’ first right to revise are growing.

A new report released on September 9 by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression found that over half of the 257 universities surveyed failed to create a free speech-friendly environment. The report also found that the majority of students were opposed to allowing an array of hypothetical and controversial figures from the left and right.

Ohio State ranked 124th overall in the rankings. Reports of 329 Ohio State students who responded reported that 43% reported self-censorship on campus.

Ohio president responds after protesters are removed from the pursuit event

Protesters were removed from the Salmon P. Chase event. Ohio President Ted Carter replies.

New Civic Center discussed

At the same time, the university recently opened a civic centre required by state law of 2023. It is named after former Ohio governor, senator and Supreme Court Justice Salmon P. Chase. Its mentioned mission is to “educate and research in the historical ideas, traditions and texts that shaped the American constitutional order and society.”

These types of centres appearing around campus nationwide are popular among conservative politicians and are often cited as a response to what they describe as decades of liberal indoctrination on university campuses. Critics say these centers are overly right-wing and lack academic rigor. In Ohio, faculty voted against the center, but their approval was not required to open it.

Carter opposed the assessment that the Civic Center is the right-wing version of the campus DEI Center. Instead, he said he imagined the center as a space for “hard discussions.”

“It’s not a forced tilt into the conversation,” he said.

September 10th is the infamous day of Atlantic hurricane season

0

Based on the past few years, September 10th is a typical peak of Atlantic hurricane season, but this year things are quiet and quiet.

play

It’s here: A typical peak of the Atlantic hurricane season is September 10th, based on historical weather data.

Dates are considered the peak of the season, as historically when air and marine conditions are most prepared for tropical storms and hurricane development.

However, this year, quiet days are expected as tropical cyclones are not expected for the next seven days, according to the latest advice from the National Hurricane Centre, released on September 9th.

This will likely be the peak of the first climate of the Atlantic hurricane season in nearly a decade of storm-free, when appointed in the basin on September 10, Accuweather reports.

In fact, the past two weeks have been unusually mild. In fact, “Only the two-week hurricane season, from 1966 onwards, where only the 1968 and 1992 hurricane seasons peak without active name storms in the Atlantic, can add 2025 to 2025 on September 9th.

Calling it a “ghost town,” weather trader meteorologist Ryan Maue said this week that “the Atlantic tropical tropics have once again hanged.”

Why is September 10th the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season?

Because when some weather and climate factors come together to promote the development of the storm. This involves lowering warm sea surface temperatures, additional air moisture, and wind shear. All of this involves the majority of the Atlantic Basin ripening for storm formation and strengthening.

Why is it so quiet this year?

“It will keep the Atlantic Ocean very quiet during the climatological peak of the hurricane season on September 10th,” said Alex Dasilva, an expert at Accuweather Hurricane.

Among other factors, if the tropical air is dry and dusty, a hurricane does not easily form, predictors said.

The Atlantic may be quiet for the next seven to ten days, Maue said, or until Africa has healthy enough tropical waves that can survive otherwise hostile environmental conditions, including dry air, dust and wind shear.

Beware of the bay

However, Acuweather predictors warned that “clusters of showers and thunderstorms organized along the Gulf and South Atlantic coasts could evolve into tropical storms, particularly mid- to late September,” with Gulf water temperatures above historic averages.

Dasilva said prospects are “troubled.”

“The heat content of the Gulf coast oceans has skyrocketed to new, previously unreported record highs at any point in the season, not just at peak climates.”

Storm activity in the Atlantic vs. Pacific Ocean

In many cases, the Atlantic Hurricane Basin has seen a sub-average start of the season, but the Eastern Pacific Basin is unusually active, according to the Hurricane Center.

Storms with 12 names have already formed in the basin. Based on climatology, the Pacific Ocean typically does not suffer an average of 12th tropical storms until September 21st. Regarding hurricanes, seven people formed in the Pacific this year. On average, the seventh hurricane will not form until September 28th.

Looking ahead

“By this weekend, dry air and Saharan dust should begin to be kicked out of major Atlantic developments by this weekend,” according to Dasilva. “Atmospheric conditions that encourage tropical development are expected to return later in the month.”

Colorado State University forecasters were also bullish about the outlook for the storm in late September. In a two-week forecast from September 3-16, Colorado State University forecasters predicted activity will recover in the coming weeks.

“The Global Model Ensemble is quite aggressive as it has potential layers in the Eastern Atlantic and Western Caribbean/South Bay due to the development of additional tropical cyclones from days 8 to 14,” the CSU forecast said.

Was your pre-season prediction wrong?

According to forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, most pre-season forecasts seek an unusually active year, allowing storms of as many as 19 names, including as many as 10 hurricanes. So far, six names of storms have formed, only one of which has been Hurricane (Erin).

“My predictions for this year are 14 storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes (near average), but that might be generous.”

“Given how quiet the peak season remains, this year is likely to end at the bottom of the preseason forecast,” said Andrew Hazelton, an associate scientist at the University of Miami Ocean and Atmospheric Research Cooperative Research Institute, on September 8.

“Outside of the flooding caused by early tropical storms and the effects of fringes from Erin, so far, it’s been a year that seems truly amazing if it continues,” he said. “But there’s still a way to go.”

After fierce opposition, Sotomayor speaks to Colbert and the Supreme Court

0

Sotomayor told Steven Colbert’s liberal audience that the other side usually has good points. But “it’s not,” she said of the court’s latest ruling on immigration.

play

Washington – Read your own opinion.

That’s the message Supreme Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor had on September 10 for viewers of “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” the day after her furious reaction to her latest control surveillance with her conservative colleague Trump administration.

The majority have said the administration can now reopen indiscriminate immigration-related stops in Southern California, sparking racial profiling protests and accusations.

Sotomayor, in his opposition to the three liberals in the court, said the majority decision was “another serious misuse in our emergency.”

“There shouldn’t be a need for the government to grab people who look like Latino, speak Spanish and live in a country where they appear to be doing low-paid jobs,” wrote Sotomayor, the first Latina in the courtroom. “I disagree, rather than standing vaguely while our constitutional freedom is lost.”

After Colbert read that part of her 21-page pushback to his studio viewers, they gave Sotomayor a standing ovation.

“If you want to read it now, I have everything,” the liberal host told Sotomayor.

Justice had better ideas.

“want you To read that, I want you to read any opinions I agree with,” she said. You shouldn’t. ”

Sotomayor added that he was shocked to see that there are good points on the other side.

“Not this,” she inserted as the audience laughed. “But to others.”

Sotomayor and Barrett spread the same message

Sotomayor has appeared in many media outlets as he promotes his new children’s book, Just Shine!: How To Be Be To You.

One of her conservative colleagues, Judge Amy Coney Barrett, encourages people to read both sides’ views as she promotes her new book, Listenge to the Law.

Among them, she was a brother-in-law, Roev. All 79 pages of the court’s 2022 decision that overturned Wade tell the story of his arrival at the annual “Coney Family Vacation.” He also brought 91 pages of consent and dissent.

“You always say, ‘Read your opinion.’ That’s what I’m doing,” he said.

Discussing the ruling did not top Barrett’s list of how she wanted to spend her holidays, but she hugged him.

“I always advise people to read the court’s opinions, but I suspect a lot of people, including lawyers, will take me,” she writes.

Delinquency on car loans shows greater trouble, the report says

0

play

According to a new report from consumer advocacy organizations, the cost of purchasing and maintaining cars, and maintaining cars identified by inflation and tariffs, leads to rising defaults and foreclosures on car loans and a potential crisis for American consumers not protected by the federal government.

The record number of defaults is the canary of coal mines for large-scale economic issues, the Consumer Federation (CFA) warned.

According to a CFA report that gave USA Today an exclusive first look, “delinquency, default and foreclosure have been radiating in recent years, and it appears to be surprisingly similar to the obvious trends before the Great Recession.”

What’s happening with default car loans?

According to a CFA report, cars are more expensive than ever. “Driving to default: the economy-wide risk of rising car loan delinquency.” The average vehicle sells for nearly $50,000, with almost 20% of new car buyers paying more than $1,000 a month, the report says. Nearly one in five new car buyers in the first quarter of 2025 will have a seven-year loan. The CFA said used cars also rose 6.3% year-on-year.

The CFA sent a report to members of Congress on September 10, calling for the end of “exploitative practices” that include interest rate kickbacks in which dealers and lenders “sneaky inflation interest rates and conspire to share profits collected from consumer overpayments.”

Americans are in over $1.66 trillion in car debt and a crisis. “The federal watchdogs in our country – Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have taken considerable steps from overseeing and enforcing predatory practices in the automotive market,” the report states.

The CFPB did not respond to requests for comment due to publication deadlines. However, White House spokesman Kush Desai told USA Today: Americans every day by ultimately reducing interest rates. ”

Federal government and regulators should protect consumers, the report says

Some of the CFA’s concerns are what they call the intensity of the CFPB budget by Congress “despite recording record number of complaints about car loans.”

The organization also said “The FTC” has not filed a single case against car dealers since Trump set up new leadership, and the committee rejected the fifth Circuit Court of Appeals decision. Adding unnecessary items to the cost of the car, the report said.

In response to USA Today, an FTC spokesperson said it would not respond to the question of why the agency did not challenge the automobile rules, but said “some currently in the litigation have brought about strong enforcement measures designed to protect consumers in this area.”

Access to the vehicle is important for everyday consumers

The default on car loans shows overall consumer stress, “usually means that consumers have extended everything else they can do in their own home,” Erin Witte, CFA director of consumer protection and co-author of the report, told USA Today.

Auto buyers with above average credit scores (620-679) were twice as likely to be delayed before the pandemic, the report said. Borrowers ages 18-29 are more than 90 days behind on car loans faster than older borrowers.

Citing data from insights and outlook for the Cox Automotive market, the report states that its presence since 2009 was at the highest level, jumping an estimated 43% from 2022 to 2024.

The debt cycle can be disastrous for consumers

Consumers can fall into debt spirals when they can’t afford to pay for their car, Witte said.

That’s what happened to Erin Compton.

Rockford, Illinois, encountered mechanical problems with the 2014 Chrysler Model 200 for 95,000 miles shortly after its purchase in 2023. Compton failed to return the car to the dealership. She also had title issues with the car finance company.

Compton’s bill was added, including car repairs, and she missed two of her monthly payments of around $285. Her car was taken back, she had no way to go to work, and she lost her job and apartment. The car loan company is also suing her for $6,000.

“My story is complicated, but solutions can easily solve these continuous cycles of burden,” Compton told USA Today. “Our country is in a state of crisis not only because of the big ones, but also because of the everyday little things that are often overlooked by the highest and wealthy companies that don’t need to directly feel it.”

Compton is currently providing substitute education, but said he threw her into a homeless fight after losing her car in 2023. Two nights before Compton spoke to USA Today, she said she was sleeping in the car, but now she is temporarily staying with a friend.

Calling the government to protect consumers

Witte said that the Biden-appointed commissioner was removed by the Trump administration, resulting in politicization of federal agencies accused of protecting consumers.

Other consumer advocates agree that more protection is needed.

“When we go to car dealers, people are voiced in despair,” added Rosemary Shahan, the consumer president for reliability and safety, “the agency there has abandoned the consumers to protect us at the federal level.”

Trump transforms White House lawn into a UFC cage match arena

0

The White House has been holding sports for a long time, and mixed martial arts is violent, but the son named Calvin Coolidge died a century ago from a tennis injury.

play

WASHINGTON – Beyond working on Congress and foreign enemies, President Donald Trump will host the White House’s first UFC battle next summer.

A longtime fan of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Trump has planned the event for up to 20,000 spectators and live television audiences. The Mixed Martial Arts Battle cards will be part of the 250th anniversary celebration.

It’s rare to build eight cages on the grass to the south or weigh athletes at the UFC’s Lincoln Memorial, but the historic site routinely hosts sports from tennis to T-ball. The president’s son died a century ago from a tennis injury.

Here’s what you need to know about how the president has dabbled in sports preferences for over a century:

According to the White House Historical Society, Teddy Roosevelt built a tennis court in 1902, in the shadow of an office building now known as the West Wing, near what is now known as the West Wing.

Amidst the reverberation of that history, Trump recently signed an executive order to return the Department of Defense to bring it back to the war division, but the agency moved to five sides of the Potomac River.

Sports are dangerous without brawling in the UFC’s Octagon, an eight-sided cage. In 1924, according to the Historical Society, the son named Calvin Coolidge swam his right foot while playing tennis without socks, and died of blood poisoning at the age of 16.

On the calm side, the bowling lane was first installed indoors in 1947, and Richard Nixon was an avid bowler. The first Dufferd Wight Eisenhower installed a putting green in the 1950s, when Trump decorated it.

South Lawn could be the coolest place for ice skating in 1980 when Jimmy Carter and Joe Biden built a temporary rink for the holidays in 2023.

At the first event, Olympic gold medalist Peggy Fleming performed during holiday parties for the Secret Service, military aides and other staff. The latter event allowed military families, first responders and educator children to race skates for a turn. The National Hockey League and its players provided lessons.

Arrived in 2009, Barack Obama doubled his tennis court to use for basketball, playing against aides such as the Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan and other visitors. The White House had a small basketball court since 1991, but the edited court allowed a full court game.

The White House held a T-ball game on South Lawn since 2001 when George W. Bush, the former owner of the Texas Rangers, became president. The field included pitcher mounds, dugouts and bleachers, and featured a hot dog and burger menu.

What brings the UFC to the White House?

Bringing the UFC to the White House, a decades-long friendship between Trump and UFC CEO Dana White reached its peak.

The first UFC battle held under the ownership of White and his partners took place in January 2001 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Trump “gives us a start when no one spoke to us,” White told Fox News in 2018.

White introduced Trump at the 2024 Republican National Convention. Trump has attended several UFC events as president.

In his speech in Iowa on July 3rd, Trump proposed that the fight would be one of the events celebrating the country’s 250.th Anniversary one year later.

“All of our national park battlefields and historic locations will host special events at American Honor 250,” Trump said. “We’re going to play a UFC fight on the White House grounds.”

White made it clear in an Instagram post on August 28th.

“The White House battle has begun,” White said in a photo of him holding Trump’s hand. “I accomplished that today.”

How to stay safe if lightning strikes your car

0

play

The Lightning Strike is some of the most amazing power demonstrations on the planet. We’ve all seen trees, mountains and skyscrapers being struck. But what happens when a car gets hit by lightning?

The hassle-free answer is solid “it depends.” Every year, Lightning strikes many vehicles around the world. In some cases, it brings simple burn marks to the roof, but it also blows away electrical systems and vehicles that are burning to the ground. Why some strikes draw a burn mark with a cool story, while other strikes are total cars? Both the type of lightning and the type of car are responsible.

The path with the least resistance, not zero resistance

To dramatically simplify things, lightning is a massive electrical arc that is unleashed when the difference between clouds and ground overwhelms the insulation properties of the air. All insulators can be powered by electricity if there is enough power. The only thing that changes is inefficiency. This inefficiency drives explosions of light, heat and sound as lightning burns branches of the atmosphere into instantaneous plasma on its way to the ground.

Lightning simply attacks, even if it means running through the atmosphere on the way that it is the least resistance path. This means that the charge will not be stopped by the rubber on the tire or other materials in the car, but that’s not the point. Cars can protect residents because they guide lightning rather than lightning.

Faraday Cage and You

This is why planes, trains and cars tend to do well despite being shocked and shockingly impacted. Their metal shells naturally move around from their residents, and in most cases, power misses important internal systems. All this happens with sufficient efficiency, unlike what you do with air, so even the power of a lightning strike rarely melts. Newer combined vehicles often have metal woven into the structure to maintain this capability. Electric cars aren’t different, but I think it’s much easier to ignite gasoline than a lithium-ion battery.

Of course, not all lightning bolts are contained near the same amount of power; bliss The more they have, the greater the challenge of channeling that power safely. Not all cars are the same as soft-top convertibles and vehicles with retracted roofs.

Stripped casually: Potential damage

A less powerful strike may require you to reset your gauge or infotainment system, but a less powerful strike will hardly damage it. More powerful strikes often damage the antenna. Antennas are generally those strikes that came in and include small metal aviation explosions. Other common lightning damage is found in the rear window, as small defroster wires can be overwhelmed by power and can crush the glass. Tires are also a common casualty due to their lack of conductivity. As lightning passes through them on their way to the ground, it tends to flash the air inside and expand to the point of explosion.

As expected, a gas or oil leaking vehicle could be the mother of all sparks, so if hit by lightning it becomes a substantial fire hazard. A well-maintained modern vehicle with metal bodies and systems insulated from the above bodies is extremely safe, even with all modern electronics. But the Yankee old beater with backyard wiring and strong gasoline smell will probably not be able to withstand a hit.

According to Edison International, if your vehicle is struck by lightning, sit on your lap and avoid touching unnecessary interior bits and leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Finally, check for external damage before starting the vehicle again.

If you get hit by lightning, will your car be totaled?

A car struck by lightning can often continue driving, but more powerful bolts can gross the vehicle’s total vehicle, especially when fire is involved.

How often do cars get hit by lightning?

Around the world, cars are hit by lightning millions of times a year, but the chances that an individual may still occur are in the range of 100,000 to 1.

Is it safe to drive when there is lightning?

Low grip and low vision in thunderstorms are mostly greater threats than lightning. Especially since most vehicles can handle lightning bolts without any substantial issues. That said, it’s a common sense rule here, so if you can simply stay indoors, there’s no reason to take any additional risks.

Do you pay insurance for lightning strikes?

The best chance you have to get insurance to pay for lightning damage is to take lots of photos of the damage. Progressive recommends that you have your vehicle immediately look at the mechanic and get weather data for the day and time the vehicle was attacked.

When the car is hit by lightning

  • A single lightning bolt can generate power over 1.21 gigawatts
  • Lightning attacks millions of vehicles a year
  • Vehicles with metal shells (airplanes, cars, etc.) act as Faraday cages to protect residents
  • Electric vehicles are less dangerous than lightning gasoline vehicles
  • If the vehicle is hit by lightning, do not touch anything for at least 30 minutes.

Poland is engaging drones in airspace during Russian attack on Ukraine

Warsaw, Poland – Poland said it had scrambled its own air prevention to shoot down drones on September 10, the first in the Ukrainian War, when Warsaw was involved in assets in the airspace, after an air attack in western Ukraine in western Ukraine.

Polish military headquarters said Polish airspace was repeatedly violated by “drone-type objects” during Russian attacks across the Ukrainian border.

“An operation is currently underway aimed at identifying and neutralizing these objects… a weapon is being used and service personnel are taking action to find the fallen object,” the statement said.

The military operation is ongoing, urging people to stay home and named the area of Podrasky, Mazowiekki and Lublin as at most risk.

“The Polish Army’s operational orders are monitoring the situation and the forces and troops remain fully prepared for immediate response,” he added.

According to the US Federal Aviation Administration, Poland has also closed four airports, including Warsaw’s Main Chopin airport. There was no official confirmation from the Polish authorities. The airport was closed.

Rzeszow-Jasionka airport, southeast of Poland, was one of the airports that was temporarily closed, as it was a hub for passengers and weapons travelling to Ukraine, the FAA said.

The Russian Ministry of Defense did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio had been described as reporting on Russian drones over Poland, CNN reporter Kitlan Collins said on September 9. The State Department immediately did not respond to a request for comment.

Previously, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian drones had entered NATO members’ Polish airspace and pose a threat to the city of Zamosque, but later deleted the statement from the Telegram messaging app.

In the US, Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin said repeated violations of NATO airspace by Russian drones were indications that “Vladimir Putin is testing his resolve to protect Poland and the Baltic countries.”

“After the massacre Putin continues to visit Ukraine, these invasions cannot be ignored,” he said in X.

Poland is on high alert for objects entering the airspace as Ukrainian missiles struck a village in southern Poland in 2022, killing two people a few months later in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. However, there were no reports of polish or alliance defense systems that destroy drones.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, as of 2:45am, all Ukraine, including the western regions of Volin and Lviv, which crossed Poland and border, had been receiving air raid alerts for several hours.

Barnes & Noble acquires the book with a $3.25 million bankruptcy sale

California-based Books Inc., which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January, is currently seeking approval from a bankruptcy court that Barnes & Noble will buy for $3.25 million, according to a press release from a bookstore.

Barnes & Noble confirmed that Books Inc. will continue to operate nine locations if the acquisition is approved this fall.

The 174-year-old bookstore chain, the Bay Area’s oldest independent bookstore chain, filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, citing rising operating costs and “changes in consumer purchasing habits exacerbated by the community pandemic.”

“The agreement ensures that Book Inc.’s legacy will continue for the near future,” said Andy Pelham, CEO of Books Inc. “Barnes & Noble’s deep resources and world-class support allow Books Inc. to be able to modernize its operations quickly, allowing us to focus on doing our best.

The proposed acquisition of Books Inc. has been added to Barnes & Noble’s expansion strategy in recent years. In 2024, the company said it purchased a ragged Denver-based cover bookstore.

“Books Inc. has a renowned history and great bookstores and we are extremely pleased to ensure their continuity,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “We look forward to welcoming Booksellers of Books Inc. to Barnes & Noble.”

Barnes & Noble has expanded its physical footprint apart from the struggling retailer purchases. In April, the company announced that it would open 60 new stores in 2025, following a period of “strong sales” at existing stores.

Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook can maintain his role for now: Judge

0

play

A federal judge on September 9th temporarily blocked President Donald Trump from eliminating Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. Lisa Cook is the early set up of the White House in an unprecedented legal battle that could overturn the central bank’s long-standing independence.

The preliminary verdict by US District Jia Cobb in Washington, DC, does not resolve the key issue of the claim that the Trump administration’s claim that Cook committed mortgage fraud before taking office is adequate reason for her removal. Cook denies fraud.

Trump moved to Fire Cook in late August, but the Fed said she remains in her position.

The case, which is likely to end before the U.S. Supreme Court, has affected the Fed’s ability to set interest rates regardless of politicians’ wishes, and is widely considered important to the central bank’s ability to manage inflation.

Trump has called for the US central bank to immediately and aggressively lower interest rates and has denounced Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell for his stewardship over monetary policy. The central bank plans to cut fees at its policy meetings from September 16th to September 17th.

The White House did not immediately have any comments. Trump did not answer reporters’ questions about the verdict.

The legislation that created the Fed says that the governor could only be removed “for the cause,” but does not define the terminology or establish procedures for removal. No president has deleted the Fed governor. The law has never been tested in court.

“The best read of the “cause” provision is that the foundation for removing members of the Governor’s Committee is limited to grounds regarding the governor’s inauguration actions and whether they are faithfully and effectively carrying out their legal duties,” Cobb wrote in her ruling. “Therefore, “for a cause” does not contemplate purely removing an individual for an act that occurred before he took office. ”

President-appointed federal Housing and Treasury Directors Trump and William Porto say Cook inaccurately described three separate assets related to mortgage applications.

The U.S. Department of Justice also launched a criminal mortgage fraud investigation to Cook and issued large ju judge subpoenas from both Georgia and Michigan.

Cook sued Trump and the Fed last week, saying the claims were an excuse to fire her without giving Trump the legal authority to eliminate her and for her financially-policy stance. Cook, the first black woman to serve as Fed governor, denied the fraud claim in her court application, saying she “never committed mortgage fraud.”

However, she said that even if the allegations were true, it was not the basis for removal as the acts that allegedly occurred before she was confirmed by the US Senator and took office in 2022.

The Trump administration argued that the president has broad discretion to determine when the Fed governor should be eliminated, and that the court lacked the power to consider those decisions.

Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy makes his NFL debut to remember

0

play

  • JJ McCarthy led the Minnesota Vikings to a comeback victory for the Chicago Bears after a poor performance in the first three quarters.
  • McCarthy helped the Vikings overcome the 11-point deficit by scoring 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
  • The rookie quarterback is the first since Steve Young in 1985 to win his debut after scoring 10 or more points in the fourth quarter.

Chicago – For three-quarters, JJ McCarthy was bad. It’s so bad it hurts. Likewise, it’s bad, “A man hasn’t played soccer in a year.”

But what about the fourth quarter? McCarthy is magic and reminds everyone why the Minnesota Vikings used 10th Choose his 2024 draft.

The Vikings scored 21 unanswered points for the Chicago Bears in the fourth quarter Monday night, with McCarthy taking charge of everyone except one. By digging the Viking out of an 11-point hole, he also dug himself out of a disruptive performance that could leave a big dent in the young quarterback’s confidence and development. (See Caleb Williams, 2024 season.)

“He stepped into the huddle. We were losing. I’d say the third, fourth early (quarter). It’s saying a lot about you right there,” Aaron Jones said after the game.

“This kid is special. He’s different here,” Jones added, pointing to his head. “I’ve been saying that for a long time.”

More people are saying that now.

According to ESPN, McCarthy overcomes a deficit of over 10 points in the fourth quarter and is the first quarterback to win his debut since 1985. Who did that at the time? A man named Steve Young.

“I told him halftime, ‘You’re going to bring us back to win this game.’ And the look of his eyes was fantastic,” the Vikings coach said.

McCarthy hasn’t played a “real” football game in almost two years since leading Michigan to the national title. He missed everything last year after torn Meniscus in his right knee during the preseason and played little in this preseason.

McCarthy appears to be troubled by the speed of the game, becoming Harley when the bear put under pressure. He was fired to each of Minnesota’s first two drives, and attempted one pass on each drive. The Vikings were in the red zone on their third drive, so the throw to Justin Jefferson was too low in the third and eight.

Minnesota blew hist twice in the first three quarters due to game delays.

And what looked like a Viking’s dagger, McCarthy threw a pick six on Minnesota’s first drive in the second half. Looking for Jefferson, McCarthy telegraphed his throw, and Narsion Wright stepped in front of it, taking 74 yards to give Chicago a 17-6 lead, leaving him with 13:03 in the third.

“You don’t want to acquire wisdom like that,” McCarthy said. “It’s awful. It’s one of the worst things you can do as a quarterback, but you can’t do anything about it. You need to focus on the next play.

“Just get out there, run, play, and move from there.”

The Williams and the Bears gave McCarthy some help and suddenly returned to a team that endured a 10-game skid towards a 5-12 finish last year. Much more settled in the first half, Williams began making bad decisions, capsizing the receiver and putting the ball in the wrong place.

The rest of the bears have also become sloppy and committed too many stupid penalties.

But part of being an elite quarterback is being able to take advantage of the other’s misfortunes.

McCarthy found his groove after Cairo Santos missed a 50-yard field goal attempt. He hit Jefferson for 17 yards and found him with a 13 yard touchdown on three plays. The Vikings attempted a two-point conversion, but Jonathan Owens pushed Josh Oliver out of the boundary just before the end zone.

After three disastrous departures by the Bears, Williams was fired and then nearly selected for Andrew Van Ginkel, McCarthy quickly returned to work and found Jones with a 27-yard score. Minnesota again made a two-point conversion, this time McCarthy connected with Adam Tierren to raise the Vikings 20-17.

And they hadn’t done it yet.

McCarthy’s 10-yard pass to Jefferson put the Vikings on the Bears 14, and McCarthy scored on the next play, taking advantage of the hole created by TJ Hockenson.

“It was certainly one of my favorites,” McCarthy said with a laugh.

McCarthy was the first to say he could play better. You will need to play better in the future.

However, the learning curve for a young quarterback is steep, bad losses and bad plays on bad losses can seem insurmountable. McCarthy and his team know that isn’t the case now. No matter how bad he plays, he can get out of it.

Because he did it.

“There’s no way to deny it. You won’t win this game unless you play the way JJ did in the second half, and most importantly, he kept his football team’s beliefs behind him,” O’Connell said. “Now we know that is possible.”

For McCarthy, it seems like it’s everything.

  • Lexus will return to showroom floors in 2026
  • The car comes with new and improved styling, safety features and infotainment

The Lexus is the brand’s small, light-hearted sports sedan, and has officially returned after a short break for a redesign that is expected to arrive at dealers in early 2026, the company announced on September 9th.

Lexus is popular for its use of Toyota’s platforms and components to establish a respected luxury brand. Most of their cars are intended for comfort, but the Lexus was built for performance.

History of IS

The original Lexus was released in 1999. The interior quality and styling Lexus placed decent force to compensate for its sharp handling. Since its establishment, over 1.3 million models have been sold in over 40 countries and regions. Over the lifespan of the vehicle, it has experienced many changes and has kept its small, sporty and luxurious root root root roots intact.

What’s new for 2026?

After taking a short break in 2025, IS will make his debut again with two trims, the 300H and 350. The vehicle not only has a fresh look, but also has some upgrades to its driving characteristics. In a news release, Lexus described the change as “performance and design improvements.”

One of the most important upgrades to the driving experience comes from the transition to a rack parallel system for electronic power steering. It uses variable gear ratios that provide linear and responsive feedback to the driver during steering.

“Electric Power Steering (EPS) uses variable gear ratios to reduce steering angles through intersections and continuous angles, improving steering sensation,” according to a news release. “In addition, the adoption of linear molecular AVS achieves a high level of balance between vehicle stability and reduced road impact, improving driving comfort.”

A fresh look

The body style where the IS is known is still there, but there have been some updates outside. The front fascia has been redesigned to give the vehicle a low center of gravity along with a wider stance. The “F Sport” model comes with a new rear spoiler that adds downforce and lightweight 19-inch aluminum wheels. For the IS lineup, there are eight color options to choose from.

The interior also has some new features. The new 12.3-inch LCD screen and bamboo accents make the new interior stand out. The bamboo can be seen on the Stop Start button and on the top console.

Lexus Safety System+

Newly improved features provide greater safety and provide more peace of mind for people behind the wheel on the street.

The Lexus Safety System+ uses standard safety features found in modern vehicles, such as pre-collision warning, blind spot warning, automatic high beams, and dynamic radar cruise control. Modern safety systems use normal functions and more advanced technologies such as road sign assist, lane trace assist, semi-autonomous driving. This advanced driving feature adds hands-free functionality while navigating busy traffic under driver supervision.

“We pursued development without compromising. We are always aiming to reach the next level,” Yassimoto, International Chief Engineer at Lexus, said in the release. “Based on the unique ride quality and excellent vehicle control of the IS, this model has evolved to provide an even more engaging experience from within the cabin.”

The new generation of Lexus will be available at dealers in the first quarter of next year. As we are still in the prototype stage, we should be able to access powertrain options and pricing information in the future.

Michelle Woo and Josh Craft advance to November’s spill in mayoral race

Boston mayor Michelle Wu and challenger Josh Craft will both advance to the November general election in a race to become mayors of the city.

play

WASHINGTON – Josh Craft, the son of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and New England Patriots owner Robert Craft, will advance to the November general election to become mayor of Massachusetts after winning the September 9th reserve.

Democrats Woo and Kraft defeated retired Boston police officer Robert Capucci and community activist and former Pop Warner football coach Domingos Darosa. Local governments in Boston are nonpartisan, and candidates appear in the same vote regardless of which party they are affiliated with.

Wu, 40, was elected mayor of Boston in 2021, becoming the first woman and the first Asian American to serve in the position. During her term, she signed an ordinance selling millions of city investments from businesses that benefit from fossil fuels, announced $50 million to improve apartments in the Jamaican Plain, helping to expand access to Boston’s pre-kindergarten program.

She also headed straight to the Trump administration. On September 4th, the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the city’s sanctuary urban policy. This limits the extent to which local police will cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. WU has refused to withdraw its policy, and a September 5 Emerson College poll found 67% of voters approved her decision.

Meanwhile, the 58-year-old Kraft heads both the craft family charity, his family’s nonprofit, and the New England Patriots Foundation. According to his website, he has partnered to support LGBTQ+ individuals across Boston’s public schools, advocate for the creation of an independent office for rat and pest control, and has been working to increase mental health professionals across Boston public schools, partnering to support LGBTQ+ individuals.

WU could potentially win a second term in November. This is because many polls have found her major craft at a significant margin. Her major craft found 50 points in the Emerson College poll.

40 years later, Oliver North will marry Iran/Contra aide Faunhall

0

The pair reportedly tied the knot in a “secret” civil ceremony in rural Virginia, due to Celebrities’ testimony after being on TV.

First, they linked the documents in a political scandal that shook Washington and captivated the nation. And now, forty years later, two key players in the Iran/Contra controversy – Oliver North and his secretary, Fawn Hall – have joined the marriage.

The two tied the knot in a “secret” civil ceremony in rural Arlington County, Virginia.

North, a retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel, became a celebrity of a cause that aired in the 1980s as he rebelliously testified before Congress about the role of arms as a member of the National Security Council of President Ronald Reagan.

Hall became a star thanks to a marathon hearing known for her big hair and loyalty to her boss.

The two defended the action, including blocking paper shredders with criminal documents, as they were necessary to secure the release of American hostages in Lebanon and to restrain Soviet expansionism.

North was convicted of three felony charges in 1989 for arranging the illegal sale of arms to Iran and helping to divert revenues to fund a secret war against anti-communist rebels in Nicaragua.

After his conviction was invalidated, North failed to bid for a U.S. Senate seat in Virginia in 1994, becoming a prominent conservative political commentator. Hall, a part-time model who was confirmed immunity by the prosecutor, was no longer visible.

CNN reported that the marriage took place on August 27th and posted a copy of the wedding certificate north of the hall, which is said to be in the mid-’60s.

North’s longtime wife, Betsy, passed away shortly after her 56th wedding anniversary in late November last year. They have four children.

Trump will eat to show DC’s safety after police takeover

Trump was eating at the Trump International Hotel in DC at the time, on a golf course in northern Virginia, but he hadn’t gone to other restaurants as president.

play

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has visited the first DC restaurant he hasn’t owned since winning the White House and has said it is the safer capital.

The beneficiaries of Trump’s field trip were Joe’s seafood, Prime Steak and Stone Crab, just a few blocks from the White House. The menu features half a dozen oysters, about $24 from Maine, Cape Cod and Prince Edward Island. The slap red snapper costs around $47. Or, a pound Alaskan red king crab goes for $125.

Trump arrived with Vice President JD, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses. Trump told reporters he was eating out to highlight Washington as a safer city. According to social media videos and reporters, he was greeted by shattered boos inside, with loud cheers from people across the street.

“We have no crime,” Trump told reporters September 2, before saying he might prove that by trying out the DC restaurant. “You can go and actually walk with your children, your wife, your husband, you can walk in the middle of the street. You’re not going to be shot.”

Trump declared a state of emergency a month ago to take over the metropolitan police station in DC. He also deployed hundreds of National Guard troops to enhance security.

White House spokesman Caroline Leavitt told reporters that 2,177 people have been arrested since the August 7 acquisition.

But Trump said he would like to work with Democratic mayors to combat crime in cities, including Chicago, which began strict immigration enforcement on September 9th.

“Yes, the President wants to work with anyone in this country who wants to end these horrible policies and bring law and order to our city,” Leavitt said.

The governor traditionally mobilised state state guards, but Trump was able to deploy National Guard forces directly to DC due to his unique position as a seat in the federal government.

Trump said he would deploy his troops to cities like Chicago and New Orleans, but would prefer to be asked by the governor.

“We work with governors of certain states who want us to be there as well as mayors of certain cities in the same state,” Trump told reporters. “I’ll probably announce it tomorrow.”

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker opposed the deployment, and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry welcomed it. California Gov. Gavin Newsom continues to fight the development of federal courtrooms in Los Angeles.

Trump had previously been called the Trump International Hotel near the White House and then dined before he sold it. However, he did not try other restaurants like his predecessors Barack Obama or Bill Clinton.
