Prince William says “2024 was the most difficult year” after Kate’s diagnosis

Last year was particularly difficult for Prince William, as both his wife and father-in-law were diagnosed with cancer.

The heir to the British throne opened in season 3 of the Apple TV+ travel series The Recroctant Travelers about his challenging experience with Emmy-winning actor Eugene Levy.

“I think 2024 was the most difficult year I’ve ever had. You know, we’re going to have a life going to test us, and that’s how we can overcome who we are,” William told Levy in a preview of the upcoming episode.

In March 2024, his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, announced she would undergo chemotherapy after discovering unspecified cancer during post-abdominal surgical examinations.

A few weeks ago, his stepfather Charles III announced that he was undergoing treatment for an unspecified cancer after receiving corrective measures for enlarged prostate gland.

The preview also bullied footage of Prince of Wales and described a tour of Windsor Castle as “we are offering this service to everyone.”

“Schitt’s Creek” also revealed that William saw “American Pie.”

“He watched it with some of his peers, and it was funny but not surprising,” Levy told USA Today earlier this month. “It would have been shocking if he hadn’t been interested in seeing it.”

He added: “He’s just a normal guy. He just surprised me that it was just a good foreshadowing for the future of the monarchy.”

Trump and Epstein DC statues have been removed. Organizers call it “coostly.”

  • The anonymous group erected statues of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein at the National Mall, which was removed by the National Park Service.
  • Organizers said their permission was granted 24-hour notice before revoking.
  • The location manager at DC, who worked on major films, said he had never seen this response from the parks department.

Statues of President Donald Trump and President Jeffrey Epstein hold hands. But those behind it said that the National Park Service’s move to overthrow the installation was “unbelievable” and “disappointing.”

Earlier this week, an anonymous group called Secret Handshakes asked “Friendship Month” and announced that they held 12-foot Trump and Epstein’s hands in Prancing’s position. The art installation was intended to encourage conversations about the president’s relationship with sex offenders, the group said. The controversy over Epstein’s criminal case file has split Republicans and shaken the Trump administration for months.

Before dawn on September 24th, NPS representatives deleted the statue and were damaged in the process. The Home Office said only the statue was not compliant with the permit. However, the permission obtained by USA Today states that if the permission is revoked, organizers will receive a 24-hour notice. Organizers told USA Today they had never received any advanced notifications.

“I’ve never had this problem in every year I’ve done this,” said Carol Fresher, DC location manager who has worked on major films such as “Wedding Crusher” and Disney’s “National Treasure” films. Flasher said he was hired to be the location manager for the installation by secret handshakes. She called the day when the statue became “incredible.”

“I’ve been doing this for 40 years,” she said. “The word I use is that I am extremely disappointed.”

Statues of Trump and Epstein, who were defeated by the National Park Service without warning, organizers say

National Park Service permit obtained by USA Today indicates that the statue was supposed to be on display until 8pm on September 28th. However, the secret handshake said that an NPS representative appeared around 5:30am on September 24th, defeating the statue and taking it to the government’s warehouse. The footage shared by the group shows the NP conveying the statue to the people behind the camera, confirming that the statue is too large and that the worker is not compliant before pushing it up.

Flasher also said the statue was bigger than what is outlined in the permit, but she was still smaller than the overall restrictions in the area.

The permit states that it could be revoked “at any time after providing 24-hour written notice to the authorized person indicating the reason for the revocation.”

Flasher said he had not received the notification. The secret handshake organizers, who want to remain anonymous, said it was an example of an attack on free speech.

The organization and Flasher said they tried to revive the permit but were not allowed to revert it. The internal department did not respond to multiple requests for explanations.

Secret handshake placed another statue without any problems

The secret handshake told USA Today that they were a small group that used art and humor to encourage political discourse. The statue is across from the U.S. Capitol and faces the expanse of the lawn of the National Mall leading to the Washington monument. They said the statue took about a month to build.

Secret Handshake has installed anti-Trump installations in the past. The group also constructed works of what is called “dictatorial approval.” This is an 8-foot-high sculpture of a hand crushing the crown of the Statue of Liberty while making a thumb gesture. And then there is the “Gold Television Statue” multimedia installation. Golden Television showed images of a Trump dance, including Epstein.

However, this seemed to have a greater impact, Flasher said he pointed out that CBS had received a “late show with Stephen Colbert.” He placed the statue in the same “winning of free speech” category where Jimmy Kimmel returned to the late-night spot on ABC after a halt over comments about how Trump and Republicans responded to the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Colbert went on to joke about the removal of the statue, saying, “Thank you for protecting my almost 24-hour freedom of speech (NPS).”

“This is the fourth statue over the past few months… They may not like everything, but we certainly didn’t get anything back, we had no warning,” Flisher said. “It’s heartbreaking for me and our group. We worked so hard.”

Helen’s path of devastation

0

Some are still picking up works after the storm sprints through the southern community. Here are some of their stories.

play

A year ago, Helen tore a path of destruction throughout the American South as a hurricane and tropical storm that struck flooding with communities. It destroyed small mountain towns, historic estates, beachfront communities and beloved national parks.

Many of the affected communities are located in areas where network journalists from USA Today live and work, and as the storm anniversary approaches, journalists stock their communities, record their recovery and talk to people whose lives and livelihoods have been defeated.

Here are some of their stories.

Two sisters rebuild Asheville’s business

A year ago, the Asheville Tea Company’s original tea blend was scattered throughout North Carolina. There, the business was headquartered until Helen wiped out the facility. It may have been the end of a family business that was launched in 2016 and operated by a woman.

Sisters Jesse (CEO and Founder) and Melissa Dean (Sales/Marketing Director) followed the path of the 5,800-square-foot leased building after the flood retreated. It was lifted from the foundation, crashed through a utility pole and eventually embedded in a nearby restaurant. Office furniture and tea bags were scattered along the Suvannanoa River and remained tangled with trees.

Currently, Asheville Tea Company occupying its temporary headquarters at the Small Business Center at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. Tea boxes stacked on shelves await distribution to local wholesale retailers and online customers across the country. While helping her sister get the crushed business pieces, Melissa Dean also dealt with storm-related damage and total vehicle at her home.

“It was overwhelming to have everything in your life that you built over time.

Dean’s sister said there was no question about whether to rebuild the company that sources plants from local farms. Thanks to communities and friends across the US, crossing the northern border, they were able to pivot and return to business within weeks of the devastating storm, just in time for the holiday season.

The sisters said they have the support of each other and their family, friends and neighbors. This can include packing and transporting packaging and transport boxes, especially on difficult days.

Melissa Dean said she can’t imagine going through it all without her sister.

In Tennessee, we helped strangers get a new home

Christon Hicks’ mobile home in Hampton, Tennessee was damaged beyond repair during the flood caused by Hurricane Helen. Through the generosity of strangers, she and her grandfather, David Hicks, moved into a brand new home on the property. Local author Courtney Daly linked Hixes with a church in Louisa, Kentucky, to provide help after the hurricane. By the end of October, plans were in place to build a new place for Hixes to live.

In August, almost a year after floods hit the community, Hicks moved to a new home. “It’s a bit strange, but I wake up every day and feel very blessed,” Christon said.

When Knoxville News Sentinel, part of the USA Today Network, spoke with Kriston in January, she said one request for the home was that she was accessible to her disabled grandfather, a primary caregiver. Currently, David can use the lamp to enter and exit the house, allowing access to each room.

Immediately after the jiccess entered, the garden was flooded due to heavy rain. Although it wasn’t much more serious than last year, she said Christon is just as lively as he watched the water rise. Still, it was reassuring to know that if David needed it would be easy to evacuate his new home.

From fear of their infants to building a new home

Evacuated from an apartment in Hendersonville, North Carolina a year ago, Joey and Brook McNeely settled in their new home, which they had begun to move just a few weeks ago. At 22 months, Lila laughed, squealed, and ran through the garden. There, on a recent September afternoon, I slammed my head on a picnic table when Hendersonville Times-News, part of the USA Today Network, visited.

In many accounts, the recovery in western North Carolina was cruel. But like McNeales, life feels like it’s back to normal. On September 27, 2024, Joey, 42, had to hang a 10-month lira from the two-storey windows of a flooded townhouse. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Deputy was paddled under the canoe window, grabbed the baby and waited for her to carry her to Brooke, 34, looking from the nearest relatively dry, higher ground.

“(Joey) I was hoping I would go first, but I didn’t want to leave without (Lila) and that was tough,” Brooke McNeely, 34, told The Times News.

Hoping for heavy rain, Joey, the general contractor and project manager, decides to work from home. A jewel and textile artist, Brooke grew up in Florida and remembers taking a break from school due to a hurricane. As the rain got worse, Joey checked online and found their apartments on the flood plain. By then, the water had already quickly approached their door. Soon water sprayed through the toilet and began to pass through the cracks around the door.

“At that point we knew we couldn’t evacuate,” Joey said, knowing that we couldn’t evacuate unless there were several feet of standing water outside rushing at once.” Neighbors and Henderson County Sheriff’s deputies came to McNelys’ rescue with canoes, kayaks and paddleboards.

“When I talk about the flood, I don’t talk about the day it happened. I’ll talk about the next month,” Brook said. The Srose of Recovery is something that sticks to her even more than the desperate, horrifying time of the storm.

While they were gone, their apartments were plundered, they said. One of Brooke’s most hurtful things was a box of memorial items from his grandmother, broken by the looters. “The mold took over quickly,” Joey said.

McNeeleys was in a hotel in Greenville that was refunded by FEMA. Joey worked in Hendersonville for about a month before returning to Hendersonville for nearly a year living on rentals. The lease ended on September 17th. One of the most upsetting parts for Brooke was that while dealing with the aftermath of the storm, the family felt like they were missing out on their baby’s first fall season.

“We’re going to make up for that this year,” she said.

“We’re so lucky, we’re thinking everything… (some) people have lost their kids,” Joey said.

Trump has announced tariffs on cabinets and furniture. What is customs duty?

0

play

  • President Trump has announced new tariffs on kitchen cabinets, furniture, heavy trucks and branded drugs.
  • Tariffs range from 25% for heavy trucks to 100% for certain drugs.

President Donald Trump announced new tariffs on September 25th, focusing on certain products such as kitchen cabinets and furniture.

“From October 1, 2025, we will impose a 50% tariff on all kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity and related products. Additionally, we will be charging a 30% tariff on decorated furniture,” Trump said in the Truth Social Post.

In the same series of posts, he announced a 25% tariff on all “heavy (big!) trucks”! ” 100% tariffs on imports and branded drugs.

Trump’s drastic tariffs on countries around the world could be exposed to legal risks from lawsuits headed to the Supreme Court. Reuters reported that these new actions could be part of the Trump administration’s shift to more established legal powers.

Why did Trump impose customs duties on the cabinet?

In his true social post, Trump said the reason for the Cabinet, vanity and furniture tariffs was “a massive “flood” of these products into the United States in other countries. It’s a very unfair practice, but it requires national security and other reasons to be protected.

Trump said in August that he would focus on furniture in a Truth Social Post.

“This will bring the furniture business back to North Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan and statewide states,” he wrote on August 22.

Furniture and wood manufacturing jobs have been cut by half since 2000, Reuters reported, with the US importing about $25.5 billion in furniture in 2024, with more than half of those imports coming from Vietnam and China.

Some furniture executives are worried about rising prices and lack of domestic manufacturing capabilities.

RH RH.N, previously known as repair hardware, “needs years of investment in building most of the facilities and labor in the industry” to strengthen manufacturing in the US, RH.N said.

What is customs duty?

Customs duties are a form of taxes levied on imports from other countries.

While tariffs can generate more demand for domestic manufacturers, experts have previously explained to USA Today, as these companies are also part of the global supply chain, they are affected by tariffs.

Trump has frequently used tariffs as part of foreign policy negotiations in his second term, but many of them have declined or delayed.

In November, the highest court hears arguments for appeals in a lower court decision that Trump overestimated when he invoked the 1977 law to impose tariffs on imports from most countries. In the case of rules against Trump, the administration may need to issue a refund of income collected from about half of the tariffs.

Virginia Governor’s race to test GOP youth outreach after Kirk’s death

0

This year’s race of Virginia’s governor will test whether anger over Charlie Kirk’s death is zinc to vote for Gen-Z conservatives.

play

BLAKESBURG, Va. – Chloe Bolin, 25, lined up for over an hour and had a good seat at the Virginia Tech meeting in Turning Point USA. It may not have happened a few weeks ago that she attended.

Just as many students wait outside, the 25-year-old Bolin first discovered the organization’s co-founder, Charlie Kirk, when his videos began appearing on her Tiktok’s “For You” page a few years ago. A devout Christian, Borin got engrossed in Kirk’s message.

She rarely listened to Kirk’s podcasts, but she didn’t consider herself a lively follower of him. But when she learned that he had been murdered while speaking on a university campus in Utah on September 10th, Bolin said she began crying. She attended a pre-planned Turning Point Tour Stop at Virginia Tech, showing support for Kirk’s faith-based politics.

“Since Charlie passed away, I have felt that I have become brave and have a tendency to say what I think and stand up to what I believe,” Bolin said.

Just as Bolin-Z’s conservatives lament Kirk’s death, many say they’ve been politically galvanized for it — and Republican leaders are seeing an opportunity to capture that energy in the ballot box.

President Donald Trump and the GOP have linked the 31-year-old murder to a broader message casting the Democrats as radical, hateful and violent. Some candidates running in mid-2026 have already called out Kirk’s assassination in campaign ads and fundraising materials.

This year’s Virginia Governor race could be one of the first tests between Republican lige’s Winsam Earl Sears and Democrat Abigail Spanberger, whether that strategy will work to promote young voter turnout.

Tilt the scale

Bob Holsworth, a longtime Virginia political analyst, described the Turning Point USA rally at Virginia Tech as an “effort for Republicans to do what they failed in most previous elections.” “It’s about mobilizing young people on university campuses,” he said.

The exit vote from the 2020 presidential election showed then-Democrat candidate Joe Biden, who led Trump among voters aged 18-29 in Virginia. A poll conducted by Atlas Intel two days before the 2024 presidential election showed Harris had just 3% won a group of the same people in the state.

Kirk played a pivotal role in helping Republicans bridge the gap between younger voters in 2024. Turning Point led the effort that was sent off in December 2024, believing that the organization and Kirk helped them achieve the victory.

Adam Pennings, executive director of Run Gen Z, a nonprofit supporting young conservative candidates, said he hopes Kirk’s death will lead to “higher voter turnout, political involvement and more young conservatives.”

Students are still unlikely to vote except for the president.

But so far, Kirk’s death has not shaken up this year‘Race for the governor of Virginia.

Back in 1977, Virginia elected the opposition governor as president for all election cycles except 2013. Democrats support winning this year’s race.

Polls from early September to mid-September show Spanberger, a former CIA operative, is about 10 points ahead of his Republican opponents. Of voters ages 18-29, Spanberger registered 20% more support than Earl Sears, according to a September 18 survey by Christopher Newport University a few days after Kirk’s death.

Nearly 40,000 students are participating in Virginia Tech. Less than 3,000 people filled the maroon sheets in the auditorium where Turning Point held the event.

As they waited for them to enter the building, some of Kirk’s most enthusiastic supporters looked indifferent towards the upcoming off-year elections as they asked if Turning Point Action volunteers were registered to the poll.

Most of the students, covered in American great hats and t-shirts decorated on Kirk’s face, ignored the registration query and continued chatting with friends.

Many USA Today students said they were excited to vote in the 2028 presidential election, but it was still unclear whether they would vote this year or in the midterm of 2026.

Bolin, who is studying for a doctorate in veterinary medicine, said he never thought he was politically involved and had voted for president in the past.

Kirk’s death encouraged her to speak more positively about her beliefs. But Bolin, who is from Ohio, said he still doesn’t know if he’ll vote in future local and state elections. She chose not to register with Virginia, saying she didn’t know much about the candidate.

“I don’t want to vote for Republicans,” she said.

Even among students who said they were going to vote in the Virginia governor election, few knew the candidate’s name.

“I’m probably going to vote for a Republican. What’s her name?” Landon Pond, 20, from Front Royal, Virginia, added that he will support a candidate supported by current Virginia Gov. Glen Youngkin.

I’m looking towards the future

Coby Dalton, 18, said he was going to vote for Earl Sears as he smashed under his feet and matched her on most issues, including moral opposition to abortion.

But Dalton, a native of Radford, Virginia, was more concerned about Kirk’s legacy.

“Everyone is very divided when it comes to politics,” he said. Kirk often embraced divisive rhetoric, but Dalton said he praised the activists as “very civil.”

For Youngkin, one of the two speakers at the Turning Point event, the short-term impact of Kirk’s death on GOP politics seemed far from the point.

Youngkin did not mention the upcoming Virginia election in his one-hour long speech. He stood next to Kirk’s hat and shirt, encouraging participants to openly discuss their politics and faith, as the 31-year-old activist had.

“It’s easy to get a flash of bread in the moment, and the hard part is to endure,” Youngkin told the crowd. “Looking long term, and not immediately satisfied, but doing work that will affect a year, five or ten years,” he added. “That’s magic.”

For Gen X, retirement bites

0

play

For Generation X, retirement beckons. And reality still bites.

Numerous new research suggests that the MTV generation regrets about past economic failures, worrying about the present economy and worrying about the future.

Many Gen Xers feel they haven’t saved enough to fund a comfortable retirement. They hope they began salvation sooner. They are afraid to generate their own savings.

General Zeas also worries that the stock market is about to crash. This is a scenario that they are too familiar with after overcoming the Great Recession of 2008.

Generation X, born between approximately 1965 and 1980, will be next door to retire after the baby boom. Some Gen Xers are now retired.

It is a generation defined primarily by financial uncertainty. Generation X was the first to deal with without a ubiquitous workplace pension and instead relies on a new savings tool called the 401(k). The Great Recession stands as a crucial economic event for a generation.

This year, the oldest Gen Xers will turn 60. They may not be ready for what comes next.

Most Gen Xers are not ready to retire

According to one new report released in September by Northwestern Mutual, more than half of Generation X is not expected to be financially prepared for retirement.

According to an insurance company’s 2025 plan and progress survey, Xers Gen Xers believes they’ll need $1.6 million to retire comfortably. This is higher than the “magic number” of retirement for other Americans.

But most of Generation X is not so much saved. The majority report has less than two or three times the annual income from retirement savings.

Over half of Gen X think they will live their savings longer, research shows a typical scenario in an era where Americans live longer. In contrast, only two-fifths of Boomers and older Americans fear they will miss out on retirement money.

Almost half of Gen X plans to continue working after retirement, or to generally not need it or already do so.

Only a quarter of the Gen Xers expect to leave their inheritance when they die.

According to Northwestern Inter-Officers, one takeaway from the investigation means that there is not enough Gen Xers to have a formal retirement plan. Only one third of survey respondents said they were working with financial advisors.

“We’ve been working hard to get the better of our customers,” said Humane McFadden, managing director of Northwestern Mutual.

The Northwestern Mutual Survey reached 4,626 adults, including 969 high-Western Americans with investmentable assets of over $1 million.

Gen X struggled to recover from the Great Recession

The fear of Generation X’s retirement is unfounded.

According to a federal survey of consumer finances, Gen Xers, ages 45 to 54, had a median net worth of around $247,000. That’s less money than a baby boomer had at the same age after inflation.

The contrast suggests that Generation X is struggling more than other age groups to recover from the Great Recession. While all generations suffered in 2008, economic research suggests that Gen X suffered more than most people.

“I think the recession really did a lot to us,” said McFadden, Gen at Xer. “What do people think if I retire just before the market drops 40%?”

XERS Gen fears a market crash is approaching

Another new survey suggests that Xers Gen Xers are worried that another recession may come.

A September 25 report from the Allianz Life Insurance Company in North America found that 39% of Gen Z, 36% of millennials and 29% of Gen Z, 39% of millennials, and 36% of millennials, now is a good time to invest in the market.

More than half of Gen X fears a market conflict is upon us, Allianz Life discovered.

Kelly Lavigne, vice president of consumer insights at Allianz Life, can understand that a generation approaching retirement is worried about the economic downturn. A market decline may SAP retirement savings that Gen Xers had planned to spend.

“If you leave after four or five years, you can’t make up for the big losses now,” he said. “They’re at crunch time.”

In addition to market volatility, Generation X is struggling with inflation. Seven of the 10th generation Xers say inflation has hindered savings. Eight in ten people worry that they may not be able to afford the retirement lifestyle they want due to rising costs.

The Allianz Life Survey reached a nationally representative sample of 1,005 adults.

Gen X regrets past financial failures

A third report issued by the Financial Planning Group found that it looks back at Generation X with regret over past financial lapses.

According to a CFP Board report released on September 24th, only 37% of Gen Xers are satisfied with their retirement savings.

More than half of Gen Xers said they hope they’ll start planning their retirement sooner.

“Our goal in this report was that for millennials and zoomers, we had the opportunity to learn from Gen X,” said Kevin Roth, managing director of research on the CFP Board.

With workplace pensions declining, Generation X has entered the workforce, with most workers building their own retirement savings with 401(k) plans and individual retirement accounts.

However, the 401(k) plan was rare in the early days. Many Gen Xers started late in retirement savings.

A typical Gen Xer began saving for retirement at age 30, half a decade behind millennials, according to a study by the Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies.

In a CFP Board investigation, Gen Xers said economic forces are hampering financial decisions for people in their 20s and 30s.

The CFP Board report was drawn from survey results from 941 adults with household incomes over $25,000.

Research shows that most Gen Xers regret waiting for a long time to plan major life events, especially retirement.

But “no matter how close you are to quitting, it’s never too late to plan,” McFadden said.

Balls and strikes are automatically corrected

Imagine a ball player facing his nose and discussing the ball and strike with a robot. That could be the future that continues now, as Major League Baseball officially adopts the 2026 automatic strike zone challenge. An automated ball strike system, or ABS, allows batters, pitchers or catchers to tap their helmets to challenge their phone twice in the game. This is the first time in baseball that the referee hasn’t had a final word on every pitch. Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve calls WNBA Refs with expletive-Laden Rant

Phoenix – Physicality was a conversation topic throughout the 2025 WNBA playoffs. The debate boiled down on Friday after the chaos ending in Phoenix Mercury’s 84-76 Minnesota Lynx victory.

In the waning seconds of the semi-finals contest, Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve was ejected, causing Lynx to be injured by Napheesa Collier. Minnesota, the No. 1 seed in the WNBA playoff bracket, is on the verge of elimination and may not have the best player.

“The host crew we had tonight said in an explet-filled rumour after the match, as leadership would deem these three semi-final playoff worths as f—cheating,” he said.

Game 3 has 23.8 seconds left – It featured seven lead changes in the fourth quarter alone – Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas swipes the ball cleanly from Collier and gets a layup to raise the mercury to 84-76. After an accidental contact with Collier, Thomas was not called a foul. In his post-match remarks, Reeve revealed that Collier “probably has a fracture” as a result of the play.

An infuriated Reeve stormed the court and the referee before the ball could inbound, resulting in the second technical foul of the game. Despite being kicked out, Reeve continues to indict staff and, after being forced to be detained by staff and Natishaheeman of Links Guard, eventually heads the tunnel towards the locker room as a sold-out crowd at the PHX Arena. Lynx’s associate head coach Eric Thibault was also called for a technical foul.

Collier finished in a loss with 17 points and five fouls, held scoreless in the fourth quarter, with no second free throw attempts throughout the season. Collier did not return to the game after an ankle injury. (Collier previously missed seven regular season games with a right ankle injury.)

“One of the best players in the league got a zero free throw. Zero,” Reeve continued. “And she had five fouls. Zero free throw. She pulled out her shoulder and took out her leg to finish the game. She probably had a fracture.”

Reeve called for a “change in leadership at the league level when it comes to hosting.” She is not the first head coach to oppose contacts this postseason allowed. After Las Vegas’ ace game two won the Indiana Fever on Tuesday, ace head coach Becky Hamon said in the league that “physicality is out of control.”

“Most of my assistants come from the NBA and they say, ‘This won’t fly in the NBA,'” Hamon said. “This level of physicality doesn’t fly in the NBA. There’s a fight. We have a very well-managed woman.”

Reeve reflected these feelings and emphasized how “dangerous” physicality has become.

“You’ve heard that from other series,” Reeve said. “You’re listening to other coaches, Becky (Hamon) has his physicality in place, people get hurt, there’s a fight, and this is the look our league wants for some reason.”

“I can take an L with their best. I don’t think we need to play through it… f — awful.”

Reeve picked up his first technical foul in the second quarter with 5:26 left, and was left after a foul was not called by Thomas, who was physically painted along with Collier. Once Lynx’s possession ended with Shotkrock’s departure, Reeve placed a referee on the floor, screaming in frustration, mimicking Thomas’ hip movements.

Phoenix was asked for more fouls in Game 3 on Friday (15-14), but the Lynx finished the night with 11 free throw attempts compared to Mercury’s 22.

When asked about the hosting, Mercury head coach Nate Tibbets said, “We’re not talking about hosting every playoff. We’re just playing. We’re worried about us.”

NBCU, YouTube TV contract dispute could mean channels are pulled

Google will provide YouTube TV customers with a $10 credit if NBCuniversal content becomes unavailable on streaming platforms.

play

NBCUniversal (NBCU) programming may be removed from YouTube TV if you are unable to enter into a contract by the end of September.

According to Google, YouTube TV’s parent company NBCU and Google will need to reach a new contractual agreement until Tuesday, September 30th to maintain NBCU programming on its streaming service. Both companies are stabbing their heads with financial conditions and rates.

NBCU claims that Google “rejected the highest rates and conditions on the market,” according to an NBCU statement provided to USA Today, with the former claiming that it could potentially get programming from YouTube TV.

“Google already controls what Americans see online through search and advertising, with a market capitalization of $3 trillion. Now we want to control what we see,” the NBCU statement continued.

This is the second time media company programming has recently come close to leaving YouTube TV. In August, Fox and Google went back and forth, and the former threatened to pull that channel. Ultimately, the two companies reached an agreement to maintain all FOX content on their streaming service.

Google offers $10 credit if NBCU content is deleted

Google is challenging NBCU’s claims.

“NBCuniversal asks consumers to pay more for the same Peacock content than they charge. This means subscribers are less flexible and more expensive,” Google said in a statement on YouTube’s official blog.

Google told YouTube TV customers that if NBCU content is not available on streaming platforms, customers will receive $10 in YouTube TV credits in accordance with the statement.

A compact SUV that plays safely

  • The Tonale Compact SUV shares its major systems with the Dodge Hornet SUV.
  • People buy sporty exotic cars that are noticed. Be seen, heard, and they may have praised and praised.

Things I never thought I would say:

  • More wing joints are required around this area.
  • There are not enough construction areas this summer.
  • The new Alfa Romeo is not gorgeous enough.

Despite 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque being arrested to get out of the hood, the 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale Sporty SUV needs an injection of theatricality.

There is a myth that many car reviewers cling to:

  • Most buyers would rather drive a sedan than an SUV.
  • The station wagon is cool.
  • A passionate driver like “Stealscar” gets faster, but doesn’t look like anything special.

no. A thousand times, no.

People buy sporty exotic cars that are noticed. Be seen, heard, and they may have praised and praised.

No one buys an Alfa Romeo to fade into the crowd.

Nevertheless, the 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale, which I recently drove for a week, suffered from an astonishing case of anonymity.

It drove well, but as I rolled down the quiet street in the car park it was just a compact SUV.

2025 Alpha Romeo

  • Base: $36,495
  • Base Plugin Hybrid: $45,995
  • Intense: $44,495
  • Intensa plug-in hybrid: $54,495

Source: Edmunds. Prices exclude the $3,250 destination charge.

What is Tonre?

The Tonale Compact SUV shares its major systems with the Dodge Hornet SUV. All-wheel drive with either gasoline or plug-in hybrid power supplies is standard.

The Alfa Romeo is building both vehicles in Italy.

Sales in the US began in 2023. Alfa sold 3,383 in 2024 and 1,156 in the first half of this year.

Stellantis has not revealed any changes to the 2026 Tonale model.

The Tonale competes with compact and subcompact luxury SUVs such as the Audi Q3, BMW X2, Lexus UX and Mercedes GLA.

I drove a base model with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that produced 268 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque. Linked to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The plug-in hybrid or PHEV develops 285 horsepower and 347 pound-feet from the 1.3L engine, and develops an electric motor linked to a six-speed automatic.

The PHEV is faster and more fuel efficient than the gasoline-only model.

Tonale prices start at $36,495. We tested a well-equipped, gasoline-only tonle with stickers for $42,130.

All prices rule out destination fees – water your eyes, $3,250 I doubt to hide the impact of import duties declared since the 2025 model year began in 2024.

The price hike from gasoline to plug-in hybrids is $9,500 on a base and $10,000 on a PHEV.

Look and Feel

The shape of the Tonale is typical of a small SUV. Distinguishing properties include standard 18-inch tires with 5-hole wheels, a V-shaped gloss grille, adaptive LED headlights and daytime running lamps.

In addition to the start button mounted on the leather steering wheel, key features include power 8-way front seats, a 12.3-inch customizable instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and Stelatis’ excellent UConnect connection and control package.

Heated front seats and steering wheel are standard.

Main Standard Features: 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale

  • All-wheel drive
  • Standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wireless charging
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Blind spots and traffic cross-alerts
  • 18 inch tires

Drive impressions

The Tonale is comfortable, but exciting in normal driving mode.

The center stack dial has three modes for D for dynamics, n for normal use, and three modes for efficiency. The first two abbreviations are easy enough to understand. The reason for “efficiency” is not immediately clear, but Alpha likes to mention the brand’s lace DNA.

The one-click, dynamic tap on the right of “Normal” taps some characteristics that have built the reputation of the Alpha. The throttle and steering are more responsive and the shifting is more aggressive. The settings do not significantly affect the performance of the suspension or exhaust memos.

The total parts are a more satisfying driving experience, but exciting.

Gasoline Tonle runs 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds, but the alpha rather vaguely promises “less than 6 seconds” of PHEV. Neither number is very impressive for brands whose reputation depends on performance.

The PHEV also earns 29 mpg in total city/highway fuel economy estimates compared to 24 mpg on gasoline. The PHEV can cover 33 miles with electricity alone.

The internal combustion Tonares wins an award with a top speed of 140 mph against the PHEV’s 125.

Why buy Alfa Romeotonal?

The Tonale is fun to drive in sport mode with responsive steering and competent suspension.

The interior has first-class connections and controls, and the charming Alpha touches like a start button attached to the handle. Dynamic driving mode ratchets the fun, but less than you would expect from a well-known Italian sports brand.

The base price of Tonale is attractive, but be sure to consider the high shipping costs and price leap from gasoline to PHEV.

Chicago resists Trump’s midway blitz and an ice projectile fires

0

To close the facility, anti-immigration enforcement protesters have gathered outside local U.S. immigration and customs enforcement agencies almost every time.

play

Broadview, Illinois – About 200 Chicago area protesters withstand immigration enforcement on September 26th, endured a barrage of chemicals and projectiles fired by federal agents outside the site at the heart of President Donald Trump’s crackdown.

The tense protest outside the US immigration customs facility in the Chicago suburbs of Broadview will take place over two weeks of Operation Midway Blitz, a White House effort to strengthen the deportation of longtime sanctuary cities. Trump has repeatedly said that crackdowns are aimed at “worst and worst” criminals, who are immigrants.

But the president’s crackdown, which saw one immigrant fatally shot and killed by federal agents, sparked almost 24 hours of protest at a facility about 12 miles west of Willis Tower.

“It feels like a chemical war,” Ricky Hendon Jr. told USA Today through a gas mask after a barrage of pepper balls fired by immigration agents. A tech worker in the Chicago area said he is protesting the inhumane conditions reported at the Deportation Processing Center. “This needs to be shut down.”

Homeland Security Deputy Director Tricia McLaughlin called the protesters “mob,” leading to the September 24 attack on immigration facilities in Dallas.

“The mob is what they are,” McLaughlin said. “This is just two days after seeing a vicious and disgusting attack on our facility in Dallas. And now we’re very wary of the fact that there are firearms or that there are firearms in Chicago.”

The protest organizers denied that anyone connecting to the group brought firearms.

Among the officials and leaders protesting on September 26 were Mayor Andre Vasquez, Mayor Evanston Daniel Biss and council candidate Kat Abugazare.

This is the latest in Trump’s Blitz on immigration in the Chicago area.

Suburban facilities act as main hubs

The small, pre-boarded fenced building in Broadview serves as a processing centre for detainees before being transported from Illinois. Data shared with USA Today by immigration enforcement researchers shows that the site has become a major hub for detainees in recent months.

Homeland Security officials said more than 700 immigrants have been arrested since the launch of the Blitz. Among them are “gang members, murderers, child rapists, drug traffickers.”

“These arrests reflect our commitment to targeting the worst and worst situations that pose a major threat to our community,” Covington said.

More than 6,000 detainees passed through the facility in 2025, according to data compiled by Transactional Records Access Access Clearinghouse, a research group tracking immigration enforcement data.

Immigration Enforcement Processing Centres play a role in growth

Susan Long, co-founder of Syracuse University’s research group, said the Immigration Enforcement Processing Center plays a crucial, but not widely known, role in immigration enforcement. They will grant immigration agents a place to register new detainees and hold them overnight if necessary.

The agency’s processing center was also targeted by a shooting that killed an immigrant, causing two detainees to be seriously injured.

Immigration agents are beginning to significantly increase the use of facilities in the Chicago area. The Freedom Act shows the information obtained by Long’sGroup.

No one had stayed at the facility overnight between 2024 and the previous year, Long said. By June 2025, the number of people staying overnight reached 30 per night. It is unclear how many people have stayed at the facility overnight since the start of the Blitz.

Conditions for lawyer slum facilities

According to Long, the immigration enforcement processing centre is supposed to only hold people for less than 72 hours. However, Chicago area immigration attorneys say they report that the site’s clients have been in custody there for five days.

Detainees also report overcrowding at the facility, according to local immigration law advocate Elendila Rendon. Rendon said his clients are reporting up to 200 people staying at the facility overnight. According to data obtained by Long’s group, the facility has a capacity of 123 people.

“We’ve seen a lot of abuse inside,” Rendon said at a press conference on September 25th.

Immigration officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the facility’s status.

Are immigration agents catching “worst and worst”?

Among those recently arrested in Chicago by immigration agents are men whose criminal history was convicted of child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and men who were arrested for worsening illegal use of weapons, according to agency officials.

According to agency spokesman Covington, “criminal and illegal alien from Mexico,” Carlos Barellavega, includes criminal history including sexual assault on a victim under the age of 13, home robbery and battery.

Jose Alex Guarneros Granados, also from Mexico, was sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of multiple counts of domestic battery and strangulation. Covington said.

But Chicagoans say federal agents are indiscriminately targeting people who look like immigrants.

Jaime Perez of Chicago South Cider said his fiancé Laura Murillo was taken to an immigration agent early on September 25th, when he was selling Tamales on the streets. Perez said Murillo had been in the country for 20 years.

Perez said he called him while she was in custody: “You’re hurting me, you’re hurting me,” he heard her. Perez said he tried to talk to the agent who called him.

“I want her, we’re engaged,” Perez told the agent, “and he just shut the phone down.”

See cars at Northwood University International Auto Show

  • The 62nd iteration of this car show was held by students.
  • Students participated in the event and gained experience and improved their job outlook after graduation.
  • The show featured over 65 car brands, including new, modified, unusual hyper cars.
  • The main attraction was the collection of hyper cars over $12 million, offered by anonymous alumni.

The 62nd Northwood University International Auto Show over the weekend in Midland, Michigan, wasn’t your typical car show. The enthusiasts organized everything, but yes, these were students. Alumni came back to return to Japan and created it for a busy campus with over 65 car brands.

“When you walk around, every staff member can see too many students,” said Nick Horn, a freshman with Howell, a baseball team pitcher. “The undergraduates did a lot of heavy lifting for this show.”

Horn hoped that the auto show would help boost his career. As an entrepreneurial major with an emphasis on the automotive aftermarket, he was truly proud to be part of this student-led event.

There were regular cars, race cars, supercars, hypercars, emergency cars, military armored staff carriers, and semi-trucks. Not too flashy, but equally important, several food trucks were parked on campus to fully feed and hydrate the audience throughout the show, which took place on September 19-21.

Students run the show

Northwood University is a small private institution specializing in business and marketing, calling itself the “American Free Enterprise University.” The car shows are hosted throughout campus, organized primarily by university attending students, with little direct involvement from faculty.

Pontiac’s automotive marketing freshman Dennielson Hernandez worked at the Infinity exhibition, where several vehicles were on display.

“Our students were randomly assigned or chose the automaker they wanted to work with,” Hernandez said. He was there to improve his job prospects after graduation.

“Whenever you work for the company and they see you already worked at a car show with the company, that’s good for your resume,” Hernandez said.

Vehicles were on display at dealers across Michigan. Most car doors were unlocked, allowing people to sit inside and experience the interior. All car manufacturers had students nearby to talk to spectators about the vehicle and its functionality.

Aftermarket and modified cars

Many cars came directly from the dealer showroom, while some were at the event to showcase the fixes.

Aftermarket parts for modified engines, suspensions, exhausts, lift kits, turbochargers and many other custom parts were found at the auto show.

Winkleman Collection

The main attraction of this show is hypercar, and most people can only see it on social media and video games. These cars were offered to the Winkleman Collection auto show, belonging to Mr. Winkleman, a mysterious car collector based in Florida.

Cars brought to the show included Bugatti Mistral, Koenigsegg Agera RS, McLaren P1, Hennessy Venom F5, and a Ferrari LaFerrari, previously owned by rapper Drake. This small group of cars totals over $12 million. These vehicles attracted the most attention at the event, with security guards nearby.

Has Assata Shakur died in Cuba? its political influence in the United States.

0

play

News of his death shakes political and social scenarios: Assata Shakur, a living symbol of the Black liberation movement and a controversial figure in inter-American history. Cuba passed away in Havana on Thursday in “health and advanced age,” the Cuban Foreign Ministry said.

His daughter, Kakuya Shakur, confirmed the game in a Facebook post, creating a wave of reaction and reflection among activists, authorities and the media.

For over 40 years, Shakur – Nashida Joanne Deborah Chesimado – was sought by the United States as a fugitive, but many viewed her as a prey to political persecution. His death marks the end of a symbolic age, opening questions about memory, justice and reconciliation.

Who was Asata Shakur?

Born in New York, Shakur was linked to the Panther Negra Party (Black Panther Party in English). Already a Black Liberation Army, an extremist organization that has sought to stand up against structural racial oppression in the United States.

His name is associated with the May 2nd, 1973 conflict on the New Jersey highway.

In 1977, she was declared guilty of murder, armed robbery and other charges and sentenced to life in prison. In November 1979, members of the Black Liberation Army, disguised as visitors, released Shakur from the state prison in Clinton (New Jersey) and helped her escape.

He later appeared in Cuba, where the Fidel Castro administration granted him political asylum and denied the permanent extradition request submitted by the United States.

What cultural and social heritage will Assata Shakur leave?

Movement and music inspiration

His history transcended politics to become a cultural myth. It was referenced in the Black Lives Matter movement and its autobiography – ASSATA: Autobiography – I recited the following ideas: “It is our duty to fight for our freedom… we have nothing to lose other than the chain.”.

His connection to the hip-hop scene was narrow. He was considered the spiritual godfather of Tupac Shakur. And artists like Public Ainna and artists like Common summoned her with songs that mixed social critique and political poetry.

Living discussions about memory, racism and reform

Shakur Aviva’s death debates the legacy of the armed black movement, the use of the criminal justice system as a racial management tool, and how it deals with the dominant historical narrative. He also resumes questions opposed to extradition, human rights, and external pressures about political independence from countries such as Cuba.

For activists and academia, your numbers invite you to double down on critical education, Afro-American memory, and efforts to restore justice. In the case of the Spanish-speaking community in the US, Shakur teaches how the racialized struggle in the US resonates with immigrants, African descendants, and historically marginalized people.

What do you say about social support? Activists and social movements speak out

As soon as Assata Shakur’s death was confirmed, the social network became a digital rally in which unified activists, artists and supporters of racial justice were united in the same tribute pulse. An organization close to Black Lives has published duels and appreciation messages, describing it as a lighthouse of resilience to institutional racism.

Black and white photos, quotes from autobiography, and video of collective reading floods Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), and hashtags #assataliveson And #justiciaparasta has become the flag that links their history with the current struggles between police brutality and the massive incarceration of black people in the United States.

Among the most shared testimonies are the intimate stories of those who view it as the “spiritual grandmother” of a new generation. Young activists said they had suspended community workshops to read their poems. Educators recalled that their lawsuit was the first time they questioned criminal justice. For many, their departures not only show pending reforms in the judicial system, but also reaffirm their memory as an act of resistance. They call for Shakur to continue his struggle for civil rights, which he embodied until his final breath.

What do you say about the Critics and Justice department? Accusations and demands of responsibility

The reaction has been criticized by conservative circles from the police or Fox News chain. Shakur is seen even as a fugitive convicted of murder, where Cuban political asylum was a humiliation against the legal system.

The call was increased to remember agent Verner Forster, who was considered a victim. The extradition requirements have also been revived, but now there are not many practical expectations for his death.

His departure occurs when the nation deals with deep ideological fractures

Assata Shakur’s death invades the United States, which still discusses suspected structural racism, police brutality and connections with the prison system. His story becomes an unpleasant mirror. Women who condemned racial persecution while convicting murder, force the country to balance justice and inequality.

In the community forum and opinion columns, the name reappears as an example of how the law can be viewed as a tool of punishment or oppression, depending on who is watching it. Progressive lawmakers have already spoken about increased transparency in the case of stronger fundraising organizations defending questionable evidence and civil rights.

Community leaders push stories such as Shakur entering the school curriculum, not as glory, but as an important part of Afro-American memory.

His death, far from closing chapters, opens up a new stage of public debate that confuses the politics, history and urgency of reform that many consider impossible.

Julia Roberts from “After the Hunt” cast at the New York Film Festival

0

New York – Julia Roberts’ latest film dares to ask offensive questions.

In After the Hunt, A-lister plays Yale philosophy professor named Alma Imhoff, whose close colleague Hank (Andrew Garfield) is accused of sexual assault by star alumni Maggie (Ayo Edebili). Alma is torn between her loyalty to Hank and her belief in Maggie, but she threatens that her own dark secrets will bubble to the surface.

She unleashes mentally and physically in the course of the drama, tackling the hot button issues of accountability, privilege, political correctness, and cultural cancellation.

“It’s so early to talk about movies like this!” Roberts joked during a morning Q&A at the New York Film Festival on September 26th.

“Everything that natural for Alma is unnatural to me as a human being, so it was interesting to try and find an effort to address it,” Roberts said. “I was able to make it clear internally for myself in finding intrusions with each character along with my castmates. But it was complicated. It was certainly tricky material.”

Roberts, 57, took mostly the back seat as the project’s cast and creative team asked questions from reporters. Edebili and Garfield spoke at length about whether each character is “likeable” and whether the actor has ever discussed what “really” happened between Maggie and Hank.

“Don’t you want Andrew to be your therapist?” Roberts marveled lightly. “He’s my therapist and I feel good.”

She then tortured Director Luca Guadanino with questions about ethics and morality. (“You answer,” Roberts told him. “You are the smartest!”)

Guadagnino gently hones the “provocator” label and says, “I say I don’t like to scandalize for that. I think it’s childish. …Do you like to make films that make the audience feel?

Julia Roberts Movie “After Hunt”: Release Date Comes After Mixed Review

In August, “After the Hunt” premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where critics sharply split 49% positive reviews about rotten tomatoes. The film will begin with a limited release on October 10th, before expanding to theaters nationwide on October 10th.

The spiny film is Roberts’ first potential award bid since the 2018 addictive drama Ben is Back. The Megawatt Oscar winner recently achieved success in 2023 with “Leave the World” on Netflix and “Leave the World,” which was heavily played on “Leave the World” in 2022 with “Tickets to Paradise” in 2022.

Meanwhile, Guadanino has a fruitful recent output, including last year’s sultry tennis film “Challenger” starring Zendaya and “Queer,” a mesmerick character study with Daniel Craig.

New York Film Festival Schedule: NYFF Lineup 2025

The New York Film Festival will be held until October 13th, with high-profile screenings including Bruce Springsteen’s drama Springsteen: Delivery Me New My, Daniel Day Lewis’ comeback vehicle Anemone, and the world premiere of Bradley Cooper’s latest director’s outing.

How dealers can make money even if they save a lot of car discounts

0

play

When I’m negotiating with customers, we sometimes get to a point where we can’t discount the vehicle any more and tell them we’re already losing money at the price we’re giving them. The customer always smiled deliberately and said, “Don’t try to fool me. You’re not losing money. You couldn’t stay in business even after losing money.”

But we do. Auto dealers always lose money on individual sales. The reason people don’t believe me is first of all, I’m a car sales person and everyone thinks we’re lying all the time. But the main reason they don’t believe me is that they don’t understand how car sales work.

Frontend vs Backend

The selling price is just a part of the equation. It is called the front-end for car trading. The other part is fundraising, or backend. And finally, there is the overall benefit made by the dealer over a month. This is the only thing that the dealer’s principal or owner really cares about. Consumers make a big mistake when focused and price alone.

Let me give you an example. Recently I took four fresh “UPS” (aka customer) and walked the door without a reservation. The first three didn’t buy it. The fourth did that. The dealer, overall, sold only seven cars that day (we are relatively few dealers). My deal was number 7.

Of my previous six deals, the dealer lost about $5,000 on the front end because the car was so big discounted. Yes, you read it correctly – we sold six cars and lost $5,000. But in my deal I was able to “hold gross” or sell the car at the asking price, earning $8,000 on the front end. You’re going to pat it on the back, right? Then my client funded the purchase and we made money from it. Adding everything, the dealer won around $3,000 on the front end of seven cars. That’s not very good, but at least we weren’t red. But what’s important is that I made $19,000 on the backend thanks to funding. So, looking at the big picture, the dealer made $22,000 that day. It’s not tattered.

It’s all about fundraising

Most consumers don’t realize this is happening. They have been taught to focus solely on price and price, but real money is made in fundraising. People argue with me for hours over hundreds of dollars Thousands The backend when they fund with us. That’s insane.

When you pay in cash, the only thing a dealer will abandon is the difference between the true cost of the car and the MSRP. This is a very small pie. Most bills incorporate a profit margin of about 3-10%, with trucks and luxury cars looking up to 15%. So if you’re looking at a $20,000 vehicle, the biggest discount you can get is between $600 and $2,000. This isn’t $5,000. And it’s just profit. Subtracting the operational costs of dealers, such as employee pay, interest payments, insurance, advertising, utilities and other expenses, the net profit margin is much lower, about 1-2%. This means that every $20,000 in sales, the dealer could make a profit of just $200 to $400. Simply put, if you are bent hell with lowering prices and paying in cash, you are missing out on winning the best deal.

If you know that dealers can make money on the backend, it will be happy to give up more on the frontend. It might go into red to sell you a car. So, if you want the best price, tell them in advance that you are willing to raise funds with them – and pay back your loan after a few months so that you don’t pay a lot of interest. There are no penalties and everyone is profiting.

Trump has delved into Amelia Earhart Mystery and released records

President Donald Trump is walking into one of the country’s great unsolved mysteries, pledging to release government records regarding famous aviator Amelia Earhart.

Earhart disappeared in the Pacific Ocean in 1937.

“Nearly 90 years ago, her loss of disappearance has attracted millions of people,” Trump wrote in a social media post. “I am ordering the administration to declassify and release all government records about Amelia Earhart, her last trip and all other her.”

Earhart is described by the Smithsonian as “probably the most famous female pilot in aviation history.” In 1932 she became the second woman with the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean through the Solononstop. When she disappeared, she was about to fly around the world.

“Earheart’s Lost Disappeaud has produced countless theories that include radio issues, poor communication, navigation and pilot skills, other landing areas, spy missions, imprisonment and even quietly living in rubber plantations in the Philippines,” says the most likely theory, saying she was likely burning fuel.

It is not clear what records the federal government will record in Earhart.

Trump ordered records that have been released from other big moments in history. He signed an executive order in January that ordered the release of a classification document related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr.

The Boston Red Sox will host the 3-game set Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park, the final contest of the 2025 Major League Baseball regular season, with both teams competing for spots in the playoffs.

Detroit once led American League Central in 14 games, but melted away in September and was tied up on the division on Friday, but will lose a tiebreaker against the Cleveland Guardian if the team finishes even numbers.

Boston has one magic number to secure the Al Wild Card Bertz, earning a postseason spot, winning one win over the Tigers and a Houston Astros defeat against the Los Angeles Angels. The Tigers will win the Astros one game leading the Astros on Friday to earn their final wild card spot, allowing them to clinch the postseason trip with a combination of two wins and two Astros losses over the weekend.

USA Today Sports will provide updates and highlights from the Tiger Thread Sox game on Friday night.

  • Tigers – 3
  • Red Sox – 1

Up to the sixth inning.

Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize – the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft by the Tigers – is important throughout six innings at Fenway Park. Mize allowed one run on 8 hits.

Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers are solidifying the Tigers and still lead the Cleveland Guardians 4-2 on progressive field.

The Tigers and Guardians entered the play on Friday night.

A two-run home run by Nathan Lukes at the bottom of the fifth inning gave the Rays a 4-2 lead as they tried to beat Al East.

In the Bronx, the Yankees continue to lead the Orioles 6-3 throughout five innings.

The Blue Jays and Yankees own the same 91-68 record that goes into Friday night’s game, while Toronto owns a head tiebreaker from true. The Blue Jays will be able to win the division title as early as Saturday.

The Red Sox answered after the Tigers scored their first run of the game and scored three points in the top of four innings.

Alex Bregman hit a ground rule double to lead the innings. Yoshida Island’s single won Bregman. However, a line-out to center with Romy Gonzalez and double play kept the Tigers at the top 3-1.

The Tigers scored three runs in four innings, chasing Red Sox starting pitcher Kyle Harrison in the process.

Dillon Dingler and Parker Meadows hit back-to-back singles after Andy Ibañez opened the innings on a walk. Javier Baes’ single won Ibañez. Jahai Jones is a double plated with Dingler and pasture. At that point, Red Sox manager Alex Cora looked well and pulled Harrison for right-handed Justin Slatin. Slaten inherited the runners second and third, earning two outs, but then walked through Wence el Pérez to load the base of the process. Right-handed Justin Sulatin concluded the innings and came to prevent further damage.

The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays entered the play tied up on AL East on Friday night (although the Blue Jays own a tiebreaker).

Throughout the three innings, the Blue Jays are tied 2-2 with the Tampa Bay Rays.

At Yankee Stadium, New York took the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 with the third button. The Yankees won the playoff berth on Tuesday, September 23rd.

Yoshida opened the bottom of two innings to the right from the single. After Romy Gonzalez left and Sedanne Rafaela popped out, Nathaniel Lowe hit the ball and bounced off the top of the Green Monster for a double. However, with Yoshida third and Lowe in second place, Wire Abreu’s hard hit ball found the Tigers’ second basehand Graybar Torres, who first dumped Abreu.

The Tigers escaped the innings to keep the game scoreless.

The Texas Rangers opened the game at progressive field by scoring four runs in the first innings and leading the Cleveland Guardians 4-2 throughout one play.

The Guardians’ magic numbers for Al Central with the Tigers are three, and two magic numbers will secure a wildcard spot.

Tigers right fielder Wensel Perez made an epic play with a foul ball from the bat of the Red Sox Trevor Story.

It was determined that Perez did not complete the catch process. He fell into the stands and he lost his possessions as his gloves hit his seat.

The Tigers tried the play but failed. The lost challenges have had a playoff impact in this important game and have been able to get a big hit.

Friday’s match on Fenway Park will air only on Apple TV+, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:10pm ET.

To air on Apple TV between Tigers and Red Sox on Fenway Park, Friday night, we present the first game footage taken directly from an iPhone camera.

From MLB: “The final Friday night baseball showdown on Apple TV+ will feature live game footage captured on the new iPhone 17 Pro. This is the first time the iPhone will be revealed during a live broadcast of a professional sporting event.”

Four iPhone 17 Pros will be installed at Fenway Park (including one among the Green Monsters) to capture the important late season clash with the meaning of the American League’s wildcard.

The willingness to expand the Major League Baseball playoffs was, of course, to generate gobs of television revenue thanks to television inventory. It also served a secondary purpose. It will create great relevance by September.

Ten of the 15 final three-game series have some degree of connection to either playoff qualifications or seed, with some direct matches affecting both teams. – Gabe Luck

Walmart meatball diet is potentially linked to a fatal listeria outbreak

The ready-to-eat meal batches shipped to the Walmart location are subject to public health warnings after federal health officials discovered that the product may have been contaminated in Listeria, which was previously linked to another recall.

According to the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service Notification Alert on Thursday, September 25th, samples of FDA-adjusted and cooked pasta from “marketside ringing with beef meatballs and marinara sauce” were tested as part of an “ongoing investigation” of the emergence of another Listeria in June 2025.

The ringin used as an ingredient in the diet kit that tested Listeria monocytogen is the same ringin used in Fresh Realm’s chicken fetttin alfredo meal, causing three deaths and 16 hospitalizations.

“We have long argued that the source of Listeria is likely to be a component supplied by third parties,” Fresh Realum said in a statement obtained by the Associated Press.

Based in Roseville, California, Nate’s finest food is a pasta supplier, according to a September 25th notification alert. USA Today contacted Nate’s finest food on Friday, September 26th, but there was no response.

The agency is conducting additional testing to determine whether Listeria is genetically related to a particular strain associated with an outbreak. “Market Side Ringuine with Beef Meatballs and Marinara Sauce” was shipped to Walmart stores nationwide.

“FSI is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who purchase these products are encouraged not to consume them,” the notification reads. “These products should be thrown away or returned to where they are purchased.”

Here’s what we know about previous research, including ways to improve the situation:

What is Listeria Monocytogen?

Listeria monocytogen (LM) is a bacteria that causes listeriosis and is a serious infectious disease that affects mostly the elderly, individuals with weakened immune systems, pregnant women, and newborns. Consumption of food contaminated in Listeria can cause listeriosis, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Common listeriosis symptoms include fever, muscle pain, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and cramps, according to the Cleveland clinic and USDA food safety and testing services.

As listeriosis spreads across the gastrointestinal tract, infections can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature births of pregnant women, and life-threatening infections in newborns. “Serious, sometimes fatal infections” can also occur in elderly people and people with weak immune systems.

According to the USDA Food Safety and Safety Testing Service, “People who have experienced flu-like symptoms within two months of eating contaminated food should tell their healthcare providers that they are eating contaminated food in search of medical care.”
