NYC Mayor Eric Adams finishes re-elected bid for Longshot

0

Without Adams, former governor Andrew Cuomo could win a more favorable rematch against Zoran Mamdani in the November general election.

play

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has finished his long shot bid to run over a second term leading the nation’s largest city.

The decision to drop Adams’ race as one mayor, announced on September 28, is likely to narrow the field and improve the likelihood of fellow independent candidate and former New York governor Andrew Cuomo. Zoran Mamdani, the state’s leading democratic socialist, upset Cuomo in the June Democratic primary in the overwhelmingly blue city.

Adams announced his departure from the race with a video address posted to X on Sunday. “It was my honor to be your mayor,” he said.

Adams, the 65-year-old Democratic mayor who was elected in 2021, was under pressure to drop out of the race for months, as his administration was plagued by scandals, resignation and allegations of corruption. That pressure recently came from Washington, DC. There, President Donald Trump promoted a one-on-one race with Mamdani, 33, who represents the Queen in the New York State Legislature.

Without Adams, Cuomo would win a more favorable rematch against Mamdani in the November general election. In particular, Trump does not support Republican Curtis Swawa, the founder of the Guardian Angels anti-crime patrol group.

On September 5, news outlets reported that the Trump administration was considering serving Adams as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador. Adams initially said he had not received a formal offer and always wanted to be mayor of New York City.

Adams’ rocky tenure marked for corruption

In early 2025, Trump’s Justice Department stepped in to stop accusations of federal corruption against Adam related to allegedly accepting illegal gifts and campaign contributions from wealthy foreigners, including the Turkish government.

At the time, Trump administration officials said criminal cases were politically motivated. Adams refused by Quid Pro Quo, which was made to withdraw the fee.

Adams chose not to compete in the crowded Democratic primary against Mamdani, Cuomo and other candidates, in the face of resigning, or even resigning. Instead, he ran as independent until he dropped out on September 28th.

Adams is a former Brooklyn Borough police officer, state senator and president of the Brooklyn Borough, who first took office in 2022, and is committed to viewing crime as a “blue-collar mayor.” The former Republican said he remains a Democrat even after he decided to run as an independent.

Mamdani, Swawa reacts to Adams’ departure from mayoral race

In response to Adams’ decision, Mamdani issued a statement denounced both the mayor and Cuomo.

“Donald Trump and his billionaire donors may be able to decide what Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo do, but they won’t decide the outcome of this election,” Mamdani said. “New York is better than trading one dishonorable corrupt politician with another corrupt politician. On November 4th, we turn the page on the politics of big money and small ideas, delivering a government that New Yorkers can be proud of.”

A spokesman for Daniel Kurzyna Curtis Sliwa’s campaign did not mention Adams at all in response to the news.

“Curtis Swa is the only candidate who can defeat Mamdani,” Kurjina said. “Our team, our resources and funding are unparalleled. Most importantly, we have the best solution to help working people stay in New York City and feel safe.”

NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Kristen Walker said on Sunday, September 28th that Cuomo will be appearing on the show, but cancelled his appearance on Saturday. Instead, the former governor addressed the congregation at Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn on Sunday morning, prior to Adams’ social media announcement, where he discussed housing, gun violence and promoted his experience in the government.

In a statement, Cuomo hit a different tone, but said he believes Adams “puts the happiness of New York City ahead of his personal ambitions.” Cuomo also said he could destroy New York City, adding that “it’s not too late to stop them,” but that it didn’t go into further details.

“Mayor Adams has a lot to be proud of his achievements,” Cuomo said in a statement on September 28th. “Only in New York, a child who grew up in a Bushwick tenement, who once worked as a squeegee boy and a postal clerk, becomes mayor. Whatever the difference we have, Eric Adams’ story is undoubtedly a testament to the resilience, the spirit of this city.”

Trump calls church shootings in Michigan “terrifying”

True socially, Trump said after the Michigan church shooting “there is still much to learn,” but that “seems to be another targeted attack on Christians in the United States.”

play

President Donald Trump said he was described as a “terrifying shooting” in which at least one person died and nine people injured at a Mormon church in Michigan on September 28th.

In the true social post, Trump said the Federal Bureau of Investigation responded quickly to the scene in Grand Blanc, a suburb of Flint, Michigan. The FBI will lead the federal investigation into shootings and provide “full support” to state and local officials, according to Trump.

“The suspect is dead, but there’s still a lot to learn,” Trump said in the post. “This appears to be another targeted attack on Christians in the United States.”

“The Trump administration will continue to post the people, as we always do,” he added. “In the meantime, pray for the victims and their families. This epidemic of violence in our country must end soon!”

The shooting came as hundreds of people attended Sunday services at Latter-day Saints’ Church of Jesus Christ. Police say the 40-year-old suspect plunged his car into a church before the fire began.

Ten casualties with bullet injuries, including one victim declared deceased, were taken to a local hospital. Police also believe the suspect burned the church.

The suspect was shot dead by responding officers and the fire was wiped out, police said. Authorities noted that there is no continuing threat to the public, but the scene remains active as police investigates.

“We are heartbroken,” Grand Blanc town manager Scott Bennett said at a press conference after the incident. “This type of violence doesn’t happen in our community. We are heartbroken that it came to Grand Blanc township, and we will do everything we can to support our families, our victims and our community.”

Tesla retro-futist diner inside: Rate menu

play

Motor Trend was born in Los Angeles in 1949. A whole new Tesla Since it’s a diner, of course we had to check it out and fill our tummy while charging the EV. Tesla may know a thing or two about the motor and battery, but what about burgers and fries? So let’s rate what we ate – and we tried a lot on the menu – in the spirit of Our Ultimate Car Ranking.

atmosphere

Brian Vance, director of photography, LA Super Fan and Local Tour Guide, said Tesla Diner was the first all-new, built restaurant in that area of the long-standing LA city of Sprawl. That’s why there are all the benefits of a modern, dedicated eatery with thoughtful retro-future stick styling clues.

The look and feel is Disney’s Tomorrowland, as long curved countertops, blue lattice ceiling tiles and three generations of Optimus robots soak behind the glass along the stairwell. However, in the dining area on the first floor, the atmosphere is all bustling and bustling, with many workers running around to put their orders.

Food: Tesla Burger – $13.50+

What is the ultimate diner dish? The burgers and fries were exactly what I ordered in three different trims, er and variations. It features plain, bacon, sunnyside eggs and avocado.

The Tesla Burger is the current “smash burger” trend, and is an impressive unit when it arrives in a cute cybertruck-shaped box. Thin, deep burnt pate flops squeal from grilled bread (Martin potato troll, famous among burger enthusiasts). The beef was clearly sourced from longtime Southern California rancher Blunt Beef, and the pate was actually thin and thin, with a dark crust and a firm, medium center. The $13.50 burger comes with a new school American cheese (Chef Eric Greenspan’s side project), chopped lettuce, caramelized onions, pickles and “electric sauce” (think MCD’s special sauce or Thousand Island dressing).

For an extra $3, you can add bacon. This is exactly what our man Scott Evans did. how was it? “It’s good for fast food, but nothing surprising,” declared Scott. We then compared the entire experience to eating food at Disneyland.

On top of the Tesla Burger, I added organic Sunny Side Up Eggs ($2) and avocado ($1.50 for three large slices) to total $17. The first bite with all the egg yolks was the best – there was a lot of rich, burnt beef flavour and egg-like avocado goodness, but it’s a shame as everything was a slimy touch. Offering hot piping could have been a good or perhaps a great burger, like one of the hot messes you get at the County Fair. Considering all the toppings, I would give 7/10, but agreed that a burger alone would be better than a 6. Rating: 6/10

Fries/Cheese Fries – $4

There was a lack of fever left in the fries. This is a shame because, like the burgers, they could have been great. Reminiscent of McDonald’s (skinny, golden brown, clearly fried with beef tallow), TD’s fries had the right combination of crispy and salt, but had to be heated about 75 degrees. For another dollar, you can add a thin, greasy cheese sauce (unlike a thick dump of bright yellow cheese in-n-out). Rating: 6/10

Hash Brown Bite – $8

“These hash brown bites are Ratoks! It’s an olive branch!” Brian is half-joking. Certainly, hash brown bites have a creaminess for $8 on potato pancakes to find the streets of Canter’s deli, and our favorite Langer. They looked great, but they tasted along the way. Our suggestion: Heat and reduce the price by half or twice the portion size. Rating: 4/10

Tuna Melt – $14

Brian had heard that the tuna melt ($14) was the best on the menu and confirmed that the flavor was in the point. “The cheese tuna salad and slices were of high quality. The buttermilk bread (a famous bakery from San Francisco) was just toasted, but unfortunately the sandwich wasn’t warm enough as if it were sitting away from the grill,” Brian said. Perhaps the Tesla Diner will need to recharge the burner and oven. Rating: 7/10

Market Salad with Veggie Patty – $14.50

Our friend Desi ordered the salad and said, “The salad greens were fresh and sniff, and the vegetable patty ($4.50 upcharge) was flavorful and crunchy with seeds/whole grains. Apparently made in-house.” The salad was dried and a dill ranch dressing (“Dily Ranch”) was served side by side. In this area, $10 salad (before the patty) is a fair deal but there wasn’t enough dressing. Rating: 6/10

Apple Pie with Ice Cream – $12

If you tell your grandma you paid $12 for a slice of pie (not the whole pie, I care), what would she say? If you see her serving slices of pie at Tesla Diner, she will probably call you a damn fool. A small slice of typical diner style apple pie, the first thing you’ll taste is sugar before apples and cinnamon. The bronze and butter skin was tough. I’m immune to repeated stab wounds on wooden forks. Also, while you’re choosing chocolate or vanilla ice cream, a small squirt of soft serve in a small plastic cup will almost melt by the time the burger is finished. Rating: 5/10

Verdict: Skip the pie and steal the straw!

Firstly, bad news: the food is fine. The good news is that it seems like a simple fix. Everything needs to be hotter except for the salad. Salads need more dressing/large side containers. The flavors are generally pretty good, and while it’s clear that celebrity chef Eric Greenspan knows what he’s doing, there’s nothing particularly challenging about the menu (especially when considered in Michelin-starred LA). Celebrating for serving breakfast all day, including chicken and waffles, breakfast tacos, biscuits and gravy. All of this goes back to the review.

We also praised Chef Greenspan for using many local California suppliers, including Tartine Bakery, Blunt Beef, and Tehacha Pigrain Project. These are well-respected brand names that come with premium price tags rather than corporate food processors without an unknown face. And with all that in mind, the prices at Tesla Diner are fair. Yes, you can find cheaper options for burgers, fries and soda within walking distance. But for a quick casual offering in a diner-like experience, you need to go to Gnome, Mel’s Diner, or Bob’s big boy. These are all chain restaurants, their entrees are without a row in the DC-Fast charger row, and their appetizers are more (mel).

Tesla also deserves a high mark for serving food with sustainability in mind. Glowing high across the walls of the main dining room is the company’s mission statement. “To accelerate the global transition to sustainable energy.” It is well combined with food-associated serviceware, stainless steel trays, paper packaged food, paper cups with paper lids, wooden cutlery and the most amazing straws.

Seriously, check the straws when you go. I’m sure Tesla didn’t invent them, but I praise them for sourcing a plastic alternative that actually works. These are dimensionally the same as plastic straws (length, diameter, wall thickness) like thin paper straws that collapse after 2 minutes in your drink, or one of those strange brittle dry noodle straws, but obviously some kind of waterproof re and bamboo. You rarely mistake it for plastic, but you do because of lack of wood grain and flex.

If you are visiting LA, Tesla Diner is worth checking out, especially if you need to refill one of the S3xy EVs. Head upstairs, pick up items and drink non-alcoholic kombucha while catching the movie on the big screen. If you want a cheap, hot, moderately tasty burger and fries, take a short walk around the McDonald’s distance until Tesla Diner fixes the heating issue. If you want a truly iconic LA experience with great burgers, fries and slices of pie, then if it’s something Tesla Diner should aim for, then we recommend the West LA Apple Pan and Pasadena Pie n Burger.

Team Europe’s Viktor Hovland will not be taking part in Sunday’s Ryder Cup Singles match as a neck injury led him to retreat. Hovland had to sit for a four-ball session on Saturday to get an MRI. His teammate Tyrrell Hutton stepped in on Matt Fitzpatrick and teamed up to win their match.

Each team receives half the points as a result of Hovland withdrawing from a singles match against Harris English on Sunday. The current leaderboard shows 12 points for Europe and 5 points for the US.

In a surprising event, the PGA of America reported that the master of the Ryder Cup ritual had resigned after leading an inappropriate chant towards Rory McIlroy on Saturday.

On Sunday, the PGA issued a statement announcing comedian and actress Heather McMahan will not host their first tee on her final day at Bethpage Black. This decision follows her involvement in directing the crowd to participate in a lethal hymn directed at McIlroy.

The atmosphere at the Ryder Cup is wild, with the crowd doing everything they can to deflect the European team. Team Europe is leading 11.5 to Team USA’s 4.5 as singles matches are set to tee off in a few hours.

The 2025 Ryder Cup brings the US and Europe’s leading teams to the famous Black Course in Bethpage State Park.

Bethpage Black is located in Farmingdale, New York, about an hour’s east of Manhattan. Long Island Golf Course has held several major events in recent years, including the 2002 and 2009 US Open and the 2019 PGA Championship. The PAR-71 course is considered a major test for even the best professional golfers, but the location near New York City offers easy access to large, noisy crowds.

The venue was chosen for the entire year in 2013, but Bethpage Black was originally scheduled to hold the 2024 Ryder Cup. However, the delay caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed the tournament. This, which is played every other year at alternating venues between the US and Europe, brought one of golf’s biggest events to the infamous course in 2025. Jason Anderson

The Rider Cup will be scored in match play. Basically, it doesn’t matter how much stroke you take into each individual hole. The important thing is that you have fewer strokes than your opponent.

Once each round is complete, you will earn points for your team, regardless of which player earns more holes. If both competitors are tied up, each earns half the points of the team.

In total, the glove has 28 points. This means that the first team wins the tournament with 14.5 points. In theory, the tournament could end with a 14-14 tie, but that only happened twice in History (1969, 1989). If it occurs this year, the previous winner will hold the trophy. This will in this case become Europe. – John Heffling

One notable player absent from the US Ryder Cup team this year is the legendary Tiger Woods. The 15-time major champion, even selected as one of the 12 golfers, was not appointed team captain, primarily because he prioritized his health and other duties.

Woods was considered for the Captain, but he declined the opportunity and instead chose to assume additional responsibility as a member of the PGA Tour Policy Board and the board of directors of the PGA Tour Enterprise. However, he made it clear that this does not rule out the possibility of serving as a future team captain. – Elizabeth Flores

For almost a century, golfers were not directly compensated for participation in the Ryder Cup.

In addition to the charitable contributions ($300,000) that the American PGA has made on behalf of 12 American players and captains since 1999, the organization voted in November 2024 to fund a US team’s $200,000 scholarship.

In an interview with Sky Sports on Monday, September 22nd, Europe Captain Luke Donald pointed out that he would never accept the honourable idea like the Ryder Cup, the idea that European players would be paid to play in tournaments.

“Each of them said, ‘This isn’t a week to get paid,'” Donald told SkySports. “We have such a strong purpose for this team and us to play.”

In the 2025 Ryder Cup, the Beth Page Black Course doesn’t live up to its brutal reputation, eliminating golfers at all proficiency levels, from 30 handicaps to experts. Brooks Koepka won his final major here, the 2019 PGA Championship, by filming four over pearls in four days of play. Tiger Woods won his first major at Beth Page, the 2002 US Open, taking three shots ahead of second-place finisher Phil Mickelson.

Trump attends Hegses’ military general meeting

The President will be attending the military’s top brass mystery, last minute meeting on September 30th.

play

President Donald Trump will be attending the last minute meeting of the military’s top brass in northern Virginia on September 30th.

The president’s plan added another layer to the already mystical and perhaps unprecedented meeting, with the Department of Defense refusing to clarify the reasons for the meeting. The order from Defense Secretary Pete Hegses will house hundreds of senior military leaders around the world, convened at Quantico, a Marine Corps base about 30 miles south of the Pentagon.

White House officials confirmed Trump’s plans, first reported by the Washington Post and the New York Times. The Pentagon did not immediately return a request for comment from USA Today.

Meetings with such senior leaders are usually planned a few months in advance, throwing a schedule of confusion as military leaders rush to Tuesday’s meeting.

According to the Washington Post, all senior officers from the brigadier general must attend the meeting. According to Congress’s Research Services, around 800 officers are currently categorized into that category.

According to Reuters, Hegses is expected to discuss the need to adhere to the “warrior spirit” of the entire army, allowing them to touch other areas during the approximately one-hour event.

Coach polls show Oregon, Alabama, rises in college football rankings

play

  • Ohio State continues to be the top-ranked team in the US LBM coaches’ poll after five weeks of victory.
  • Oregon jumped to second place after a double victory over Pennsylvania.
  • Florida dropped 11 positions to 19th, while Southern California dropped completely from the top 25.

As expected, the US LBM coach polls look very different from the results of the fifth week. But one of the few things that remained unchanged is that it remains in Ohio.

The Buckeyes, which previously handled the first road test of the season in undefeated Washington, were voted first this week with 58 of the 65 panelists. Oregon is second in the second place after a double-time victory at Pennsylvania. The duck claimed six of the remaining seven No. 1 nods, the last one went to Miami (Florida), the third that enjoyed an open date this week.

Mississippi will make a big leap from 11th to 4th place after beating LSU. Texas A&M will climb four places that close out the top five after beating Auburn.

Top 25: After week 5, LBM coach polls will be completed

Penn State suffered the loss of the smallest position in the vote and fell to No. 6 to go ahead of No. 7 Texas. No. 8 Oklahoma and No. 9 Indiana rise, and Georgia slides to No. 10.

A little strangely enough, the Bulldogs were ahead of Alabama in the 11th place, giving the Bulldog their first loss. However, the Crimson Tide has moved to five locations and is back in playoff photos. Iowa will be in 12th place, with LSU falling to No. 13.

Florida will drop 11 positions to 19th after a Friday night defeat at Virginia, but will remain in the rankings. Southern California isn’t that lucky and fell out of the top 25 after a loss at No. 22 Illinois. TCU was another dropout of the week as Arizona No. 24 and Utah No. 25 returned to the polls.

Vance warns Moscow about the Ukrainian War and says, “Wake up and accept reality.”

Vice President JD Vance said on Fox News Sunday that Moscow should “wake up and embrace reality” as the Trump administration is about to end the war.

play

Vice President JD Vance says Russia needs to “wake up” and come to the table to negotiate with Ukraine, and President Donald Trump repeats the tone of the full-scale war.

Vance’s September 28 comments came after Trump claimed that Ukraine was in a position to “fight everything in Ukraine in its original form and win.”

“Russians have to wake up here and embrace reality,” Vance told Fox News on Sunday. “A lot of people are dying, and they don’t often show it for that.”

Hours before Vance’s appearance, Russia launched one of the war’s biggest aerial attacks, shocking Kiev and other parts of Ukraine early on Sunday. The attack killed at least four people and injured dozens of others, Reuters reported. A massive drone attack from Russia tested Ukraine’s restricted air defenses throughout 2025.

On the topic of Ukraine’s ability to win the president’s war, and support for NATO countries such as Poland, which have been infringed in recent weeks, came one day after meeting with US allies during a UN General Assembly rally on September 23.

Zelenskyy told Trump that there was “good news” on the battlefield and thanked him for selling NATO weapons that had been moved to Ukraine.

Appearing on Fox, Vance said he is now Russia.

“How many more are they willing to lose? Even if they gain military advantage on the ground there, how many are they willing to kill?” the Vice President added: “I don’t think there’s that much answer, but certainly our attitude here is to continue working for peace. I hope that the Russians will actually wake up to earthly reality.”

Why is Acura canceling its ZDX Electric SUV? What we know

0

Acura sends ZDX to the early grave. Do you miss it?

play

  • Honda’s luxury division Acura has removed its only fully electric option.
  • The ZDX has impressive performance specs and standard features, but other EVs sell out it in thousands of units.

Acura’s ZDX Luxury Midsize Electric SUV heads for the scrap heap after one production year.

The high-end electric SUV, a close cousin of the Honda Prologue, has been cancelled for reasons that some drivers may have seen coming. It is struggling to capture Acura’s market share and claim the location of its segment.

The ZDX may boast some great standard features and specs, but it’s not enough to keep the SUV in your gaming. Here’s why Acura is giving this EV boots:

Acura ZDX is not a sales flop

Acura sold 10,335 ZDX models as of June 2025, according to its second quarter sales release. These are not bad sales numbers for the gorgeous Midsize Electric SUV. At the same time, it appears that the ZDX is not a hit that Honda’s luxury division had hoped for.

An internal memo obtained by car dealer Guy, a car retail publication, states that the decision to x ZDX was led by the decision that “unexpected consumer EV adoption rates are slow.” General Motors sold more than 19,000 EVs in July, so despite Acura’s internal memo, consumer EV adoption is not the only factor in the cancellation of ZDX.

Rival electric cars lead sales rates

The EV space has several outstanding models that have increased the huge sales for each company. The Tesla Model Y and Tesla Model 3 are still at the top of the leaderboards for US EV sales. The Chevrolet Eab is currently a bestseller non-Tesla EV.

Other large sales leaders include Hyundai Ion Ik 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Honda’s own prologue. So, what do consumers see in the prologue that they don’t see in ZDX?

Honda Prologue vs. Acura ZDX

Unlike the more luxurious ZDX, the Honda Prologue Midsize Electric SUV is a mainstream model. The prologue may have a poor performance spec, but consumers choose it because it has strong value for money.

Honda Prologue Acura ZDX
Starting MSRP $47,400 $64,500
horsepower output 220 horsepower 358 horsepower
Operating range 308 miles 313 miles

Acura’s ZDX is $17,100 more expensive than the prologue. It produces 138 horsepower more than Honda’s mainstream medium-sized SUVs, and gains an additional five-mile driving range.

Eliminating the federal EV tax credit is a game changer

Acura’s internal memos stem from “recent policy changes affecting EV production and sales” as part of the decision-making behind the cancellation of the Acura ZDX. The Midsize Luxury Electric SUV will be eligible for federal electric vehicle tax incentives, but credits will be eliminated on September 30th.

Without the EV tax credit, the Acura ZDX is less attractive to the contract than the more affordable electric SUV. Drivers can choose the Honda Prologue Elite Final Trim and get features like all-wheel drive, heated and ventilated front seats, and a $57,900 head-up display.

Hurricane forecasters warn that Imelda could pose a risk and that it could cause flooding on us

The storm system near the Bahamas is expected to be strengthened to tropical storm Imelda on September 28th.

play

Tropical depression is heading northwest across the Atlantic on September 28th, potentially threatening parts of the US southeastern coast soon, leading to sufficient rainfall to cause flash floods, predictors said.

The system is expected to be strengthened by the Tropical Storm Imelda by the evening, allowing it to reach hurricane status briefly on Monday or Tuesday before it becomes weaker again. Approaching the US early in the week, it is possible that the hurricane strength is or near, but it is too early to say what the storm will track and whether it will interact with the still strong Hurricane Hanbert, which is currently a Category 4 storm.

Imelda is looking at it with uncertainty and concern as it approaches the southeastern coast where accurate tracks are still unpredictable. While most models show storms staying off the coast of the US, the storm is expected to bring dangerous wave conditions and heavy rains to some southeastern states that could cause some examples of flash floods, the forecaster said.

The National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm clock on September 29th, allowing tropical storm winds to be possible and on parts of Florida’s east coast.

As of the morning of September 28th, tropical depression was located 100 miles west-southwest of the Central Bahamas, moving north-northwest at a speed of 7 mph. The maximum sustained wind is nearly 35 mph, with high gusts.

Where is Tropical Depression 9 heading?

The storm, now known as Tropical Depression 9, is heading towards the north-northwest, with its centre expected to cross the central and north-west Bahamas in the day and night of September 28th to approach the southeast coast.

The storm is likely to move parallel from Florida’s east coast, according to the Hurricane Center. Imelda could stall as it arrives near the southeastern parts of the country, including Carolina and Georgia, weakens from September 29th to 30th. The prolonged amount in one area could spell extreme rainfall and potential flooding.

How much rain could it be in the southeast?

The weather forecasting center says 5-10 inches of rain could fall into the southeastern coast of Northern and South Carolina through the first few days of October. Higher totals could drop locally, leading to “scattered pockets of flash floods,” the Weather Forecast Center said.

From eastern Georgia to central Virginia, Accuweather meteorologists said the Carolina coast could be seen over 8 to 16 inches.

“Rainfall of this magnitude can lead to widespread, life-threatening flooding, especially if the storm slows or stalls,” Accuweather said.

See current storms in the Atlantic Ocean

This predicted track shows the most likely pathway in the center of the storm. The full width of the storm or its impact is not shown, and the storm center can move out of the cone for up to 33% of the time.

How do hurricanes form?

Hurricanes originate in the tropical regions above warm waters. Thunderstorm clusters can develop across the ocean when water temperatures exceed 80 degrees Fahrenheit. If conditions are correct, clusters are swirling into tropical waves and storms known as tropical depression.

Tropical depression becomes a named tropical storm when its sustained wind speed reaches 39 mph. When the wind reaches 74 mph, the storm officially becomes a hurricane.

Get ready for a hurricane now

Delaying preparations to potentially save lives could mean waiting until it’s too late. “Get disaster supply while the shelves are still in stock and flood insurance requires a 30-day waiting period, so get that insurance inspection early,” the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recommends.

  • Establish an evacuation plan. If you are at risk from a hurricane, you will need an evacuation plan. Now is the time to plan where you will go and how you will get there.
  • Assemble disaster supply. Whether you’re evacuated or not, you’ll need supplies not only to get through the storm, but perhaps for the long aftermath, NOAA said.
  • Get an insurance inspection and document your property. Contact your insurance company or agent now to ask for an insurance inspection to make sure you have enough insurance to repair or replace your home or belongings. Remember that housing and tenant insurance doesn’t cover floods, so you’ll need individual insurance for them. Flood insurance is available through your company, agent, or through your national flood insurance program. Flood insurance requires a 30-day waiting period, so take action now.
  • Create a family communication plan. NOAA says you should take the time to write down your hurricane plans and share them with your family. Determine where family gatherings are to be met and include out-of-town locations in case of evacuation.
  • It strengthens your home. Now is the time to improve the home’s ability to withstand hurricanes. Trim the wood and attach the storm shutter, accordion shutter and impact glass. Seal the wall opening.

Russell M. Nelson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the oldest ever to lead the church, passed away on September 27th at the age of 101 at his home in Salt Lake City.

Nelson died shortly after 10pm local time on Saturday and was survived by his wife Wendy, according to a church statement. 8 of his 10 children since his first marriage. 57 grandchildren; over 167 great grandchildren.

Before joining church leadership, Nelson was a prominent cardiac surgeon and performed his first open heart surgery in Utah in 1955. He was known for serving as the top board and association on the field during his career, including the president of the Utah Physicians Association and director of the American Thoracic Surgery, and for supporting the development of artificial heart and lung machines.

Nelson turned his attention to full-time church leaders in 1984, and later joined the church’s second-highest governing body, the 12 apostles Quorum, and in January 2018 he won the helm as the church president.

Nelson’s tenure as president of the Latter-day Saints’ Church of Jesus Christ was marked by several drastic policy changes and the noisyness of the new temple buildings.

In 2019 he was labelled “apostates” by same-sex member couples, rolling back a policy that prohibited minor children from religious rituals.

Pew Research’s 2023-24 US Religious Landscape Study identifies approximately 2% of American adults as Latter-day Saints or Mormons. Most of these members live in 69% west, and the church’s world headquarters was established in Salt Lake City in the mid-19th century.

The North Carolina man faces multiple first-degree murder charges in connection with the September 27 shooting at a Riverside restaurant.

play

SOUTHPORT, N.C. — North Carolina police charged the suspect in connection with a mass shooting in which at least eight people were injured in a bar along a river near the coast on Saturday, September 27th.

The shooting at the American Fish Company in Southport, North Carolina occurred around 9:30pm on September 27 when a gunman travelling by boat along Cape Fir River pulled up to a restaurant dock and fired on a crowd. The boat then fled the intracoastal waterway towards Oak Island.

Around 10pm, the U.S. Coast Guard detained someone who matched the description of the shooter who had pulled the boat out of the water on a public boat ramp about 12 miles from the restaurant where the shooting occurred, according to a press release from the police station.

The suspect, 40-year-old Nigel Max Edge, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and five counts of first-degree murder at Common Law, Southport Police Chief Todd Coring was confirmed on September 29.

Coring said early Sunday morning there was no longer a threat to the public, asking people to pray for the victims and their families

“Know that you are as safe as you can now,” he told the news conference, “It’s a very tragic night.

According to an archive of gun violence, there have been more than 320 mass shootings in the United States this year, killing at least four people. In 2024, there were mass shootings of 503.

Social Security Checks are paperless. What should you do before the deadline?

0

play

Social Security Checks will be paperless from Tuesday, September 30th.

An executive order issued in March 2025 will result in federal benefits payments being issued primarily electronically, and in most cases paper checks will be phased out.

The White House says that the use of federal paper-based payments, such as checks and mail orders, “imposes unnecessary costs and risks of delays, fraud, loss of payments, theft and inefficiency.”

The Social Security Administration is encouraging recipients to reach out to paper checks in the weeks leading up to the changes and switch to electronic payment options before the deadline.

“Electronic payments offer greater benefits than paper checks, including faster access to funds, greater security and greater convenience,” Chief Communications Officer Nick Perrine said in a statement. “Payments can be deposited directly into a bank account or a prepaid debit card, eliminating the need to wait for postal delivery or visit the bank.”

Here are some things you need to know about the changes and how to go from paper to digital:

Social Security no longer offers a “temporary check option”

In addition to the changes, agents will no longer offer “temporary checking options” when processing initial billing.

Beneficiaries interested in requesting exemptions from electronic payment requirements must file the exemption with the U.S. Treasury by calling 1-877-874-6347. SSA technicians can assist beneficiaries in this transition and answer questions.

According to the SSA, those preparing their initial claims must set up a bank account for direct deposits to ensure that new beneficiaries receive the benefits without sturdy interruption.

How to get Social Security Payments Electronically

In the wake of the transition, the Social Security Administration will provide beneficiaries, whether “old people, survivors, or disabled insurance people (OASDIs)” with several ways to receive federal payments electronically.

  • Direct Deposit: Beneficiaries may use or sign up my Social Security online account to manage your direct deposit information and access benefits details. Supplementary Security Income (SSI) recipients and international beneficiaries can make a call 1-800-772-1213 For support.
  • Direct Express Card: A safe and convenient prepaid debit card option for people without a bank account. Please call to register 1-800-333-1795 Alternatively, go to www.usdirectexpress.com.

Russia slams Kiev and other regions of mass drone and missile attacks

At least four people have been killed and dozens have been injured in the Russian mass attack as Ukraine says more sanctions are needed against Moscow.

play

Kiev, Sept. 28 (Reuters) – Russia launched hundreds of drones and missiles in Kiev and other parts of Ukraine early on Sunday, killing at least four people, and wounding dozens since the start of the full war in one of the capital’s most sustained attacks.

Poland closed airspace near two southeastern cities, and its air force was caught in a spurt spurt until the danger was over.

The Ukrainian forces said Russia fired 595 drones and 48 missiles overnight, and its air defense shot down 568 drones and 43 missiles. It noted that the capital Kiev was the main target of the strike.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attack, which lasted more than 12 hours, had damaged heart disease clinics, factories and residential buildings.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said on September 28 it had launched a “large-scale” attack on Ukraine, targeting military infrastructure, including airfields, using long-range air and undersea weapons and drones.

Moscow has denied targeting civilian targets in the war with Ukraine, but thousands have been killed and the attacks have resulted in extensive damage to residential areas.

Zelenskyy inspires international partners to act

Zelenskyy once again urged the international community to take decisive action to cut off Russian energy revenues that fund the invasion. Ukraine has so far failed to convince President Donald Trump to impose punitive sanctions on Moscow.

“The time for decisive action has been delayed for a long time. We expect strong responses from the US, Europe, the G7 and G20,” he said on the Telegram messaging app.

Kyiv exploded loudly, drones flying overhead, and air defense boomed. Smoke from one of the strike sites drifted across the morning sky as the air laid alert ended about seven hours after it ended at 9:13am local time.

Reuters journalists visited a suburb of Kiev, where a line of newly built houses has been almost completely destroyed, and the car parked by fallen debris has been flattened.

Residents sifted through the debris of the apartment after the windows were blown in by the power of the window.

Some people rushed to an underground metro station, from which they followed a mobile phone event.

Ukraine’s defenses were stretched by a massive attack

Attacks on this scale have limited Ukraine’s air defense in 2025. Zelensky said he expected an additional patriot missile system from Israel to be deployed on September 27, with two more people expected to arrive this fall.

He and other officials have asked international partners more to protect Ukraine’s skies, but air defense systems are limited in availability and other countries are keen to strengthen their defense amid threats from Russia.

Zelenskyy said Sunday’s attack targeted several regions, including the city of Zapolijazia in the south, with authorities saying at least 16 people injured.

At least four people have been killed, but local authorities reported 67 people nationwide injured, according to emergency services.

Among the deaths was a 12-year-old girl, which has not been officially confirmed, Timur Tokachenko, head of Kiev’s junta, said on Telegram.

Explains how it works

0

On September 22, President Donald Trump promoted an unproven link between Tylenol and the rise in autism in children, and issued an urgent warning to pregnant mothers.

What do we know about medicines? Tylenol is used to treat several conditions, including mild to moderate pain, fever, headache, muscle pain, toothache, posterior and cold. According to healthcare professionals, traditional over-the-counter painkillers such as acetaminophen and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are safe and effective when employed as directed.

According to the Tufts University School of Medicine, Tylenol was not widely used until 1950, when the prescription drug Tylenol Elixir for children was promoted as an aspirin replacement in 1950. Acetaminophen, often sold under the brand name Tylenol, has long been considered the safest option for managing headaches, fever and other pains during pregnancy.

How does Tylenol (acetaminophen) work in your body?

Tylenol and NSAIDs have low temperatures and relieve pain. They are used to treat different types of pain and are part of different drug classes. One important difference is that Tylenol does not relieve inflammation. nsaids does.

Dr. Anureet Walia, Pain Management Specialist at UI Healthcare, says Tylenol is classified under the umbrella of two other drug classes.

To this day, how acetaminophen works is still a bit of a mystery. Experts know that acetaminophen works only in the central nervous system, while NSAIDs act on the brain and the whole body. Here is the theory of how acetaminophen works in the body:

Can’t view the graphics? Click here to see them.

“Use as directed”: Comparison of Tylenol and NSAIDs

Tylenol and NSAIDs both help with pain perception and fever, but there is one important difference between medications. Obviously, Tylenol does not have anti-inflammatory properties. This means it does not help with swelling or inflammation.

Like all medications, dosage is important. You can receive the full benefits of taking the recommended medication. Always take something like your current condition and pain that your body takes into consideration when choosing between Tylenol and NSAID.

Here’s a comparison of how these drugs work:

Regardless of the type of painkiller, it is important to remember that Tylenol and NSAIDs should only be taken for temporary pain. “If the pain is constant and you’re on a 24-hour basis, then it should actually be a discussion with your doctor about the cause of the pain (and how to best manage it,” Manganese says.

There is no casual link between Tylenol and autism

The American Psychiatric Association has issued the following statement on autism in response to President Trump’s announcement:

“It is essential that the administration prioritizes evidence-based support for individuals on the autism spectrum and invests in long-term, comprehensive research into disability.

“Vaccinations do not cause autism, and claims of such association have been repeatedly trusted in peer-reviewed studies.

“Autism is a complex disorder and it is wrong to imply that a small number of studies have established causal relationships. Strong evidence shows that acetaminophen is safe for use during pregnancy.

The Academy of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said in a September 22 news release:

Some people who grew up under a dictator are worried about America’s future

0

Many Americans who have begun their lives in a country run by authoritarian leaders see many warning signs of Trump’s actions.

play

As a child in Cuba, Mike Fernandez saw teachers being replaced by government instructors.

Now, as President Donald Trump is taking the same steps he saw under Fidel Castro, home-built billionaires and longtime Republican campaign donors are uncomfortably surveillance from South Florida.

Like many people who fled the authoritarian regime to the United States, Fernandez says the United States appears to be at a turning point.

“There’s something wrong, and we all know that,” Fernandez told USA Today. “A lot of people want it to disappear on its own and it won’t disappear on its own.”

billionaire Emigre added:

Trump argues that the 2024 election he won represents a mission from American voters who supported his muscular leadership approach. Trump justified the actions necessary to secure the United States from both the “aggression” of immigrants and what he disrupts visible homelessness, halts certain types of crime and what he describes as unwillingness to Democrat officials to prevent civil disability.

Historical analysis by Gallup shows that his approval rating in Trump’s first few years of office – both the 45th and the 47th presidents are lower than other modern presidents at the same time in power. In Gallup’s vote, around 40% now approve Trump’s duties.

Despite the unfavorable polls, Trump has repeatedly suggested he will serve his third term as president — the constitution prevents him from being elected again — and openly thought about how other countries canceled elections during war or other state emergency.

Authoritarian warning sign

Those who fled the authoritarian regime say that this is a combination of actions that is currently causing concern, especially after Trump declared he “hate” his enemy at activist Charlie Kirk’s funeral. Those interviewed by USA Today raised many similarities seen between the authoritarian leadership of their home country and Trump’s actions over the past eight months.

  • The daily use of the military to disperse anti-government protests, especially over opposition from local officials, as happened in California and Washington, D.C.
  • A declaration that certain rights of certain groups must be reduced due to national emergency, such as due process hearings for undocumented immigrants.
  • Often under old law, they are single from minority groups due to harsh and selective prosecution. The White House argues that its immigration crackdown primarily reflects a return to enforcement of existing laws that have been ignored by past presidents in a row.
  • It reduced access to lawyers, particularly targeted minority groups.
  • Nationalisation of businesses that are deemed important to government success. Trump announced on August 22 that he would buy a 10% stake in chipmaker Intel, a struggling federal government, and has also expressed interest in purchasing from other companies.
  • By frequently reminding the power and role of government and controlling public life, there are monuments and banners, in part dedicated to leaders. Earlier this year, three federal buildings in DC were decorated with giant images of the president.
  • The lack of free and fair elections for leaders to operate the system and maintain power. Trump has pressured several Republican-led states, including Texas, to redeem Republicans to make it easier for Republicans to win seats in Congress. He also said to the popular mail-in vote without evidence that they are ripe for fraud.
  • He used government power to punish and silence enemies and journalists, and declared them as he did with his late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.

The Trump administration argued that each of these actions coincided with making America great again, and that the Biden administration was also a crime of many seemingly authoritarian measures.

As common tank as ice cream trucks

For Eddie Flores, growing up in El Salvador meant seeing military tanks that rolled around the neighborhood as often as ice cream trucks. Flores’ family fled the country’s devastating civil war when he was seven years old.

Last year he was elected mayor of San Francisco as the first immigrant born in Salvador.

Now, balancing the city’s biotech cluster and creeping gentrification, he also helps coordinate neighborhood groups against Trump’s mass immigration sweep. More than a third of the city’s residents are Hispanic, and despite concerns ahead of the city’s popular cultural fest in August, no confusion occurred.

In the Los Angeles area, Trump’s ice agents wipe out thousands of undocumented immigrants and sometimes chase the streets and farms. The protests against the ice attack became violent, and then Trump deployed active-duty Marines and members of the California State Guard on the streets of the city over objections of local officials.

Trump also threatened to deploy the National Guard in Washington, DC and release the newly renamed “The Department of War” into Chicago.

“We constantly tell staff that we must actively maintain and install systems before any harm can arrive,” Flores said. “It’s about showing up consistently for your neighbors, not just when they’re in need. So they don’t have to live in the shadows.”

He added: “Authoritarianism has no place in a country built on pluralism. We must protect that promise.”

Recognize patterns of behavior

For 41-year-old immigrants from the Middle East, the United States has long been a fortress of freedom, where the right to criticize the government is written in the country’s founding documents. Several members of his family have been detained in his home country for years to speak out against their leaders.

“We came here to express ourselves and found ourselves in this dilemma that we didn’t expect to face,” said the man who agreed that USA Today wouldn’t identify.

The male legal researcher who lives legally in the United States is worried that speaking freely will lead to federal targets. “It’s very ironic to suggest now to people visiting us from outside the US to delete the app, remove text conversations and delete images despite being completely innocent.”

The man, who is also a human rights expert at a nonprofit, said he watched for fear that Trump would attack the rule of law, pick out minority groups for harsh prosecutions, declare a state of emergency or justify some of his actions by accusing terrorism. He said Americans should be aware of warnings from refugees like him who live under oppressive regimes and are able to recognize repeated patterns.

It’s easy for people in society to think that what’s going on with minority groups will never happen to them, he said, adding that more Americans have disappointed that they haven’t tried to stop Trump, given the nation’s establishment system brought about by courts, Congress and the free press.

“I’ll contact you at some point and when it happened, there’s no one there for you because you weren’t there for them,” he said.

Echoing memories from childhood

Many other people who sought safety in the United States, Griselda Gonzalez, resident of Davis, California, said the federal forces patrolling Los Angeles reminiscent of painful childhood memories.

Salvadora’s native can be vividly remembered when she was 10 years old, as guerrilla fighters attacked San Salvador, the capital of her hometown, San Salvador. Her country’s complicated and brutal civil war killed thousands. The vision of explosions and constant shootings sometimes come to mind, even in the smallest areas.

Today, she is a married mother of three, and has a successful family-run commercial moving company. However, she said she was shocked at how similar she looked to the country she had now fled. A constant threat of military deployment, along with ice attacks targeting people who look like her.

“Five years ago, we were all fighting for our lives alongside Covid-19,” said Gonzalez, who became a naturalized citizen in 2014.

I spent quietly

Cuban refugee and American-made billionaire, Fernandez became a US citizen after serving as the Army’s Air Tro unit. He said he has long been pleased with the impact on American politics by funding political candidates, most Republicans.

But after seeing how Trump and the people around him behaved, he included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who once strongly supported him – Fernandez said he was staying quietly.

He has begun funding an immigrant protection campaign, buy anti-Trump ads in newspapers, and prepares to fight what he sees as authoritarianism and tyranny in the United States.

“When I return to zero, I will do so because there was nothing here, and I owed to reinvestment to protect this country from within,” Fernandez said. “I think I owe it to the country. I owe it to my children and grandchildren to return to where legitimate procedures are important.”

Americans have more power than they think, Fernandez said.

“The more we talk as a group, the less likely we are to be targeted. I think we are already targeted. Will I stop? No,” he said.

“America was once a great country,” he added. “It’s not like it’s anymore, as designed by the current administration.”

Money or love? USA Today readers have taught me something more important

0

play

Money vs. Love – Like many Americans, USA Today readers oppose what is more important in relationships.

A recent Tawkify survey found that Americans’ answers rely on the phraseology of questions. More than six in ten people surveyed said they would marry for love, even if it meant a lifelong financial struggle. However, if they were forced to decide between love and money, 46% said they would choose the latter, and one in three said they would consider returning if the person became wealthy.

We asked USA Today readers what they thought of the old-fashioned debate. Of those who responded to our informal survey, 53% said love was more important.

“Love was important”

When Dean Flanders, 73, of Utah, met his wife, he quickly “falls in love with her and wraps his head around his heels.” The pair have been married for 46 years.

“Love was the most important thing,” Flanders said. “We realised that along the way. We changed roles. She was in charge of all the money at first, and then I took over it.”

Flanders said they would never adhere to a strict budget, but they also have never spent more than they have won. Along the way, they set aside money for retirement and their children’s college tuition fees.

The Secret of Flanders’ Long Marriage: “It’s important to talk,” he said. He also advised young couples to prepare themselves to live without much money, but he used the resources of both people to “do good things” they could offer to each other.

He said he and his wife were “kind of polar opposites,” but they always came to compromise.

“We’re like two rough stones put together,” Flanders said. “We’ve now smoothed out each other to the point that we’re just one solid, cohesive mountain.”

“I’m financially wealthy and it’s all from me.”

For Karen Jones, 74, of Michigan, mental and financial health is paramount to relationships.

“I was married for love for the first time and got into a really bad relationship,” Jones said. As a housewife, she felt that the dynamics of her husband and husband’s husband were “controlled” and “despicable.”

They divorced, she took sole custody of their two children, and she went to university to become an occupational therapist. She met her second husband while working for her salary.

“He gave me more financial freedom,” Jones said. “And I bought it.”

However, when the couple returned from their honeymoon, Jones learns that her new husband had been diagnosed with cancer. She served as his caregiver until he died.

Today Jones is single, She is financially independent and lives in a home she owns in a garden that she proudly tends to.

“I’m financially wealthy and it’s all from me,” Jones said. “I want women who feel bound by marriage to urge them to jump into that void and land in a good place. That can happen. So I’m an example.”

‘Both are important. But more marriages fail with money.”

Florida’s Stephen Calm, 72, and his wife celebrate their 50sth Wedding anniversary in October. But he said that if they were against the money they might not have accompanied 50 years.

“Both are important, but more marriages fail with money than other issues,” Callum said. “Love is a choice, not an emotion.”

They were not always wealthy, but he said he brings in six figures each year before retiring. Through their marriage, both were happy to live in their means, so they were able to put money aside for what was important and save the future.

“The couple had more than us, but they used it, so they retired much less,” Callum said. “You have to find a compatible partner… if I had been married to Spender, I would have come in Jesus’ moments and there was adjustment, or we would have been separated.”

Callum will advise the date that they remember that they can’t change someone.

“If being poor is for the way you were born, then luck, discipline, planning can overcome,” he said. “But if it’s because of a lack of self-control, they won’t pull you down with them until the person wants to change. They’ll run away from them.”

Welcome to Miranda Priestley.

Meryl Streep re-embodied her fierce character in “Devil Wear Prada” alongside Italian Coscar Stanley Tucci at Milan Fashion Week on Saturday, September 27th.

The two appear to dress up to characters from the 2006 cult classic.

A modish appearance comes as the star recently recreates her role as “Devil Wears Prada 2” as fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestley and art director Nigel.

The sequel, scheduled for release in May 2026, also includes the return of Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, and according to Variety and People, newcomers Lucy Liu and Justin Theroux are welcome to the franchise.

The show was also attended by longtime Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. He resigned from his role in the magazine in June about 37 years later. She is no longer an editor for the outlet, and is now Chief Content Manager at Condé Nast and the global editorial director at Vogue. The fashion mogul has long been considered the inspiration for Streep’s harsh and elegant characters in the film.

On December 1, she worked on a comparison between herself and the fictional editor, telling the BBC “to determine whether there are any similarities between me and the priests of Miranda, for the audience and those whom I work with.”

Who will be cast in “Devilware Prada 2”?

The cast of upcoming sequels includes:

Electric car shoppers compete to charge $7,500 credit before deadline

  • The federal tax credit for electric vehicles, up to $7,500, is expected to expire on September 30th.
  • Automotive shopping experts have reported a surge in consumer demand for EVs as deadlines approach.
  • Some analysts have predicted a significant drop in EV sales if federal incentives are no longer available.

Automotive shopping experts say consumers are in a hurry to buy electric vehicles as the watch got caught up just seven days before the federal government’s EV tax credit expires on September 30th.

However, some warn that all EV sales will cease when the incentives go away.

As part of the mega tax bill signed into law in July, the federal clean vehicle tax credit expiration date was pushed up from its original expiration date in 2032 to September 30th. This means that the deadline for tax credits up to $7,500 for qualifying new EVs and up to $4,000 for used EVs has ended.

New data from car shopping website Cars.com, released on September 18th, showed that almost half of consumers considering purchasing an EV are accelerating their purchases. Cars.com said the site’s demand has increased by 33% for new EVs compared to this time a year ago. Demand for used EVs has increased by 22% compared to the same period last year.

Cars.com said nearly three-quarters of the consumers surveyed said it was a “major or contributing factor” in its decision to buy an EV. Cars.com conducted the survey on August 25-26, saying it had 950 respondents.

Cars.com said its survey showed that 70% of EV and plug-in hybrid shoppers are aware of the federal tax credit, with half or 53% knowing when it will end.

How long does the incentive last?

The federal government’s EV tax credits helped make EVs more affordable. Cars.com’s Detroit Director Aaron Bragman said the end of the month could slow demand soon.

“Shoppers are moving rapidly to lock in their savings, and Cars.com’s top EV picks show that there are strong options for all types of buyers, including the Hyundai Ioike 6 and Ioniq 5, the Kia EV9 and the Chevrolet equinox EV,” Bragman said in a statement. “And even after September 30th, the deal won’t go away. Many state and local incentives remain, with automakers like Nissan, Chevrolet and Hyundai already unveiling new, low-cost models.”

Karl Brauer, executive analyst at ISEeCars.com, said that once the federal tax credit is over, EV sales will “become a crater. It will be a pretty whipping effect. You are now rushing to the dealer to take advantage of these incentives…but what will happen in the next three months?”

Brower said EVS accounts for around 8% of the US new vehicle market share. He expects it will fall from 1% to 3% by the end of the year and will settle to 4% of its total market share by the beginning of next year.

“Consumers said, ‘I don’t get $7,500 from the car and it’s already more expensive than a gasoline car… and loses range in cold weather. Why are you buying this car?” “Brower said.

Director of Insights Ivan Drury at Edmunds.com said his data showed shoppers were at least beginning to study EVs at a higher speed than last year as the EV tax credit deadline approaches. He said that if a buyer decides to go on electric, there is still a wealth of stock for the buyer to choose from.

“Availability shouldn’t be too much of a problem. EVs account for 4.2% or about one per 25 of the dealer lot’s stock,” Drury said, citing data from September 21. “This is the same at 5.6%, but what’s unnecessary at the 30th is past the 30th and only stock.

Key to affordable adoption

Many automakers say the key to accelerating the mass adoption of EVs is to provide more EVs for cheaper price ranges, especially when automakers compete with China worldwide for EV market share. Chinese automakers are known for making high quality and affordable EVs.

According to Cox Automotive, the average trading price for the new EV in August was $57,245, down 0.1% year-on-year. The average trading price is what the car buyer pays after the incentive and trade-in amount have been deducted from the manufacturer’s recommended retail price. Cox Automotive said EVS holds an average price premium of $9,000 over the average trading price for gasoline-powered vehicles.

Ford Motor Co., which saw sales of EVs surge in August, announced that it would be rushed by country’s car buyers, mostly rushing to the expiration of the federal EV tax credit, and in August it announced the creation of a new electric vehicle production system and a new EV platform that will allow car manufacturers to bring some low-cost EVs more efficiently in the future. The first of these are the five-seat, medium-sized, four-door electric pickups to be released in 2027. The price of the vehicle is expected to be around $30,000.

Dealers expect sales to be slower

For Cox Automotive, spokesman Mark Schirmer said, “We still haven’t put any shareable measures in September, but our activities in August were strong, even past our previous monthly sales record of 7.5%.”

Schirmer said his previous EV sales record was in December 2024 when the industry sold around 135,000 new EVs. In August, the industry sold 146,000.

According to Cox Automotive’s Quarterly Sentiment Index, Schirmer said franchise car dealers believe the tax credits provided by the government “have positively impacted EV sales at dealers.”

But similar to Brauer’s forecast, dealers expect EV sales to cease after incentives are exhausted.

When asked about expectations for EV sales three months later, the majority of dealers expect sales to decline, Schirmer said. He said that 2023 in the third quarter was the last time franchise dealers expected a “increase in EV sales” over the next three months, but the 2025 score in the third quarter was the lowest we’ve seen so far.”

Last month, Cars.com said Chevrolet and Honda expanded their supply with five EV launches last year, as new EV stocks rose 1.4% compared to August 2024, and most other brands expanded. They did not provide numbers as to how many new EVs remain in stock.

Used EV sales are picked up

On the used side, inventory is moving faster than this year. In August, it only took 46 days, up from 66 days a year ago, Cars.com said. Tesla, which accounts for about a third of its used EV listings, saw its average price fall by 16.2% year-on-year, reducing the average used EVs by 3.8%. A Cars.com spokesman said the average trading price for spent Tesla in August was $28,862. The average trading price for a used car last month was $35,815, Cars.com data shows.

Team Europe once again dominates the US. The 2025 Ryder Cup is already over.

  • Europe holds an 11.5-4.5 lead in command of the American team heading for the final day of the 2025 Ryder Cup.
  • The European team is the first visitors in the history of the Ryder Cup to win the first three sessions on foreign soils.
  • Europe will need to win only three of Sunday’s 12 singles matches to hold the Ryder Cup.

Farmingdale, NY – Those NFL Sunday plans. There’s nothing to see here at the 2025 Ryder Cup, the final day of the tournament’s 12 singles matches.

Unless you are from Europe. Or European cheering. After that, we will undoubtedly be bathed in the glory of disconnection that would officially be embarrassed by the time the sun sets on Beth Page Black.

Europe will enter the final day leading 11.5-4.5 after another dominant performance in both Saturday sessions.

The Americans lost both the Foursome and Fourball sets 3-1. Their best player, Scotty Scheffler, is 0-4 to 2 days. The world’s top-ranked golfers own the distinction of being the first American player to lose a match in each of the first four sessions of the Ryder Cup.

Europe is the first Ryder Cup visitors to win the first three sessions in foreign soils. Their lead, which gained an 11-5 advantage for the Americans two days after four years in the Whisling Strait, is the largest in the history of the modern Ryder Cup style (since 1979).

If not a late stage hero by JJ Spaun, the deficit would be much worse with the US Open Champion, who birded the last two holes that gave him and Xander Schauffele an American victory in the late slate. In fact, it’s far more embarrassing. It’s a real word that describes the first two days of playing on Long Island.

“I know it’s pretty biased,” said Bryson Deccanbeau, who won four in the morning alongside Cameron Young, the only American victory in the session. “But it makes a great comeback story.”

Like the person a child finds in the fiction section of a library.

All Europe has to do to be a pop champagne is that it will be three matches (technically twice, winning the other half in half, remaining the Ryder Cup champion, and will be the first team to win on the other side of the Atlantic since 2012. Sunday’s biggest comeback in history, featuring a 12-1 match, comes from a team chasing 10-6. This happened twice. The US did that in 1999, and Europe achieved the feat in 2012.

All birdies from the US on Saturday received European answers. At least that certainly felt that way. Until Spaun-Schauffele’s victory, the US had not led in afternoon matches for more than 3.5 hours. The Europeans in the crowd chanted, asking where the red on the board was. Rory McIlroy pointed to various scoreboards across the track as a sign that he was fully aware of the team’s advantage.

John Rahm tipped a birdie with a bunker on the par 3 8th. Robert McInteel and Victor Hoffland matched Schaeffler and Russell Henry with clutch shots after the clutch shot in the morning session.

The Rahm is a machine of all forms, and Tommy Fleetwood was exhibited 4-0 in his first two days as one of Europe’s greatest Ryder Cup players. He’s pretty much outperformed the entire US team himself. Justin Rose, 45, is performing at the 45th Ryder Cup. He birded three of the first eight holes to help defeat Deccan Beau Schaeffler’s pairing in the afternoon. And he spices his rivals by rebuking Dedanbeau’s caddy, leading to spats between the parties.

US Captain Keegan Bradley may have combined the two superstars to guarantee points from the match. That’s why.

“Well, I’m looking at what looks like a historic putt,” Bradley said after the play was over. “They’re making it all.”

According to Datagolf, Europe defeated the US in 20 shots on the green. After all, leaving a rough length on Bethpage Black would not have been a problem.

Bradley also praised the spiritual strength of the Europeans.

“They came to hostile circumstances and played great golf,” he said. “As a competitor, as an athlete, you need to take a step back and tilt your cap to something like that again.”

Bradley fired for throwing back Morikawa and Harris’ English in opposition to the dynamic duo of Fleetwood and McIlroy. The lamb to the wolf would have been more merciful.

On multiple media appearances on Saturday evening, Bradley looked at the Seattle Seahawks after the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl victory with the Atlanta Falcons and 28-3. Maybe he’ll have time to check the end of the game with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. It should not have progressed much by the late afternoon.

“Of course I want to go out there and make history tomorrow. (Players) do that,” Bradley said. “But I think you’ll have to go out on the course tomorrow and enjoy the opportunity to play in venues like this for your country in a course like this. I think that’s something you’re looking forward to.”

Not everything is completely moving forward for Europeans. Tyrrell Hatton had to dive into Hovland in the final match the day after the latter suffered a neck injury. Hatton’s playing partner Matthew Fitzpatrick pushed the drive up to the bunker on No. 18. From 110 yards away, he thrusts it into three feet. Following Hatton, he rotated his approach and gently nestlesl next to Fitzpatrick’s ball. Matches.

Over the Rider Cup.
