In DC, Shutdown brings themed cocktails and shutter museums

WASHINGTON – Just hours after the federal government was partially closed, the effects of Congressional Deadlock could be seen in capitals around the country.

Outside the office building there were federal workers left with boxes full of our belongings. Tourists encountered locked doors at the popular museum and scrambled to create new plans. The Cancer Research Council ended a day earlier, and participants were looking for something.

Amidst the rage, bars and restaurants offered “Shutdown Happy Hour” specials, filled with federal workers thinking about what to do when they think they’re back to work and in the meantime.

This was the beginning of the first government closure since 2019. And what appears to be poised to be dragged down as Democrats delve into healthcare demands Republicans refuse to provide.

After Congress failed to pass the fundraising bill by midnight on October 1, thousands of civil servants were filled, and others were considered “essential” such as TSA agents and continued to work unpaid. The looming closure was a threat from the Trump administration to enact mass shootings across federal workers. Several unions representing federal workers have filed lawsuits against the administration over the threat.

More than 12 civil servants who spoke to USA Today on the first day of the shutdown said they hope the government will reopen earlier than late. Many will receive repayments for holidays, but some say they need to immerse themselves in savings to cover their living expenses in the meantime.

Some workers have already considered whether to file for unemployment if deadlock is dragged. Many said they were worried about the prospect of a widespread layoff.

Shutdown Cocktails and Shutter Museum

By the afternoon, federal workers were crammed into eateries such as the Union Pub in Capitol Hill. A similar scene unfolds in Carmine’s. This is an Italian restaurant offering $8 “Go Go go here” cocktails (Cosmo Slash)! Butterworth, a favorite among the Maga crowd, offered his patrons a $10 “Farrow Rita.”

Federal workers used the deal, but many tourists had to modify their itinerary.

On Wednesday, October 1st, Chanterpeña and her family approached the Ford theatre, best known for being the site of President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. As they approached the main entrance, they came across a paper sign that read, “Ford Theatre National Historical Site is closed due to federal government closure.”

It was the second disappointment of the day. Earlier that morning, Pena received an email saying that his family’s Capitol tour had been cancelled.

“We’ve been wanting to come here for years,” said Peña, who traveled from Los Angeles with her husband and children. “What a bad timing.”

Jeremy Lucke, 47, experienced a similar disappointment at the National Archives Museum, and wanted to show his two daughters the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

“I should have hit this yesterday,” Oregon pastor Lucke told his children after realising the museum had been closed. “We’re leaving tonight, so this was our last chance.”

Other attractions that have kept the lights down after the government shut down include the Library of Congress and the US Botanical Gardens. The Smithsonian said that money from last year’s budget would be used to keep the National Zoo and its 17 museums, the Aerospace Museum and the Museum of African American History, open until October 6th.

Mark Apinis, 24, traveled to Washington for the National Cancer Institute’s annual data sharing symposium scheduled for two days starting Tuesday, September 30th.

“It’s a shame because that was my first work meeting,” said Appinis, who jumped from Boston for the event. “Hopefully we have something to complete the presentation on a remote day or something. We’ll know when the funds come back.”

Yankees vs Red Sox highlights, scores as New York’s MLB playoff game 3

NEW YORK – After nine innings of epic playoff baseball and one wild sprint around base passes, the New York Yankees survived and played all the games of their most bitter rivals and winners.

Jazz Chisholm scored a one-base run from the Yankees’ first base from the shallow right field of Austin Wells singles, and the Yankees eventually split the chord against the indomitable Boston Red Sox bullpen for a 4-3 victory at Yankee Stadium Octor.

No, it doesn’t have the same ring as Game 7. But the game 3 of this sprint of the playoff series – the winner goes to Toronto, the loser chooses between 3wood and the driver – it becomes a delicious theatre when the two meet in the Bronx on October 2nd.

But it’s a high order that meets this Donny Brook first two games.

In Game 2 it was Chisholm who saved the Yankees on either side of the ball.

After Game 1, after he was limited to the appearance of a ninth pinch hit, Chisholm, in a bench and grumpy mood, got off to a right-hander on the Boston hills, waiting until seven innings to affect the game.

The score tied to 3-3, with the two guys and the hero Masataka Yoshida of Game 1 wanted to repeat the pinch hit heroic from the previous night. No, he couldn’t abandon him at first, but Gold Globe Caliber Play kept the game level and loaded the base.

Barely: With RBI singles and two-run singles taking up all of Boston’s runs, Trevor Story sent the Red Sox to ALDS up to a 393-foot, 102-mph drive. But that’s where the ball dies at Yankee Stadium. Over innings.

After 2 1/3 innings, starter Brayan Bello was unlocked, the five Boston Relievers ran the Yankees once and dropped them on left fielder Jerrendulan with an Aaron Judge RBI single.

But manager Alex Cora wanted to get two innings from set-up ace Garrett Whitlock. He fell shyly to pull it apart.

Whitlock issued two walks to Chisholm, then engaged Wells in a full count battle. Wells won and lined up the pitch just below the first baseline. It drips down the oblique sidewall on a short right field and heads back towards the infield.

Chisholm did not break the stride and slid into the house for a long time, first sliding the 270-foot journey before Nate Eaton’s slow and Carlos Narveres tag.

The stadium exploded. David Bednar was constantly working in 9th place and his bet was set.

Yankee Thread Sox. The loser goes home.

– Gabe Lackes

On the eighth two outs, Boston reliever Garrett Whitlock walked Jazz Chisholm, with Austin Wells racing right field from the single, and Chisholm gaining a tag from the start, earning a tag on a head-first slide, taking New York a 4-3 lead and leaving three outs.

Rodon finishes after 91 pitches in six innings. He gave up three runs with four hits, walked three times and hit six times. After Nate Eaton walked, advanced to second on the wild pitch and hit Jaren Duran on the pitch, he was relieved at the seventh top by Fernando Cruz.

Cruz escaped the damage by retiring from Seddanne Rafaela and Nick Sogaard, but Rob Leffsnider’s pinch hit Yoshida had an infield single to load the bass before Trevor Story jumped out to deep center to finish the innings.

The Red Sox did not disappear, tying the score as Trevor Story sent a 2-0 slider from Carlos Rodon to the left field sheet, a 381-foot 2-0 slider for Homer in his second career postseason. Alex Bregman walked, but was erased when Romy Gonzalez grounded in a double play at the end of the inning.

After Anthony Volpe flew to center and Ryan McMahon grounded the pitcher to start the five innings, Trent Grisham went for a walk and finished second on Justin Slatin’s wild pitch. The rule of Justice Al MVP Aaron singled to the right and won Grisham to take a 3-2 lead to New York.

Boston starter Breyan Bello was replaced by the third one by left-handed Justin Wilson. Bello threw 28 pitches, allowing two earned runs with four hits, walked one and didn’t attack the batter. Wilson scored the final two outs of the frame, and the Yankees were stuck in second and third.

Boston gets equalizer on Story single

It was the third place that smoothly took over Carlos Rodon’s Boston lineup. After requiring six pitches to pass the second, Rodon allowed Jarrenduran to single, walking through Seddan nel Rafaela and loading the base by throwing an error first at the sacrifice of Nick Sogaard. Rob Refsnyder swings before the first two runs of single-plated Boston from Trevor Story.

After winning the first two batters on only five pitches, Brayan Bello allowed the single to Cody Bellinger, then provided a 95 mph sinker that didn’t sink to Ben Rice, who placed it on the right field pouch to give New York an early lead.

Carlos Rodon deals early and hits the story of Rob Levsnider and Trevor before Alex Bregman jumps left to finish the innings. Rodon only needed 15 pitches from the start. 11 was a strike.

New York – Chisholm returned to the starting lineup and finished sixth due to a must-see game 2 wildcard with the Red Sox. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he saw Chisholm’s reaction after a loss in Match 1 when he spoke to reporters.

“All players don’t agree with every decision I make,” Boone said. “I try to make them understand my thought process and what I think.

“I did it with jazz. He’s a guy with emotions on his sleeves. So that wasn’t necessarily the way I handled it, but I don’t need him to have a happy face.

Ford vehicle planning requires a reboot. Can we regain consumer trust?

  • Many of the carmakers’ recent decisions to delay and change their vehicle programs look reactive and short-term, opening gaps in the lineup, waste time and resources.
  • If Ford uses this opportunity to modify those habits, he can turn the page into a brighter future.

Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan product development, rebuilding executive complexes – Global automakers are moving around global headquarters near where product design and engineering takes place – automakers give cars the opportunity to overhaul their product planning and vehicle development processes.

Ford has to do this right.

Many of the carmakers’ recent decisions to delay and change their vehicle programs look reactive and short-term, opening gaps in the lineup, waste time and resources. If Ford uses this opportunity to modify those habits, he can turn the page into a brighter future.

Otherwise, there is clearly a dramatic movement, like bulldozing the 70-year-old Glass House House Headquarters Building, and even older designs and engineering centres are nothing more than pouring old wine into new bottles.

Bright spots, big challenges

Ford’s current development process created a bright spot.

  • The F Series pickup continues to be a challenging sales leader who has not swayed the hearts of 43 years, as America’s No. 1 sales model line.
  • The gorgeous Maverick pickup has created a new class of attractive compact vehicles at an affordable price.
  • The reinvention of the Bronco SUV has raised serious off-road expectations and created a welcome competition with Jeep Wranglers.

But these victories look more like isolated cases of glow than the result of a strict, repeatable system that efficiently allocates billions of dollars and tens of thousands of people.

Ford too:

  • We have repeatedly delayed the second generation F-150 Lightning electric pickup.
  • After years of expensive development, we have cancelled a new family of three rows of electric SUVs.
  • We are about to bring our large factory in Louisville, Kentucky to an idle state. This has made two important vehicles, the Ford Escape and the Lincoln Cols Air Compact SUV, into two important vehicles to build a new family of electric vehicles.

“The end of the escape and the Corsair means that Ford sells fewer vehicles,” said Stephanie Brinley, S&P Global Mobility Principal Analyst. “It’ll take time for that factory to return to meaningful production measures.” Ford is not planning to build 150,000 vehicles in its first year, with 250,000 to 300,000 vehicles in its first year. “There are vehicles.

At the same time, the vast Blue Val City Manufacturing Complex in Stanton, Tennessee, was founded 340 miles from the Louisville Assembly, and will put EVs and batteries on Limbo in order for Ford to pause the next generation of early F-150 lightning in 2028.

“On the 5-yard line”

“Every reset will involve long-standing sales and lost investments of billions of dollars,” says Paul Watty, director of autofacifics for industry analysis. “There is a time and a place to make a pivot, but that’s not the case when you’re on a five-yard line.

“Ford set it up quite a bit behind.”

Ford has generated headlines launching a new generation of electric vehicles, but the ability to do so without fundamental change, or any plan, is causing concern.

The fact that Ford physically moved a 2,000-mile vehicle development team from the Dearborn Engineering Center to Long Beach, California shows just how corrupt the system is to work secretly.

The problem is that people working on secret projects, not Dearborn, can sullen the creative process by parking next to employees involved in the automaker’s current products.

“Skunk Works” cannot fix Ford’s illness

The problem is that Ford lacks and always has a disciplined product development and lifecycle planning process.

The automaker calls its secret office “Skunk Works” and is linked to the legendary Lockheed Engineering Center where the group is working on Advanced Aircraft, but its Skunk Works is working on a distant idea.

The Ford problem is not a lack of blue skiing thinking here and now.

The company develops outstanding vehicles almost regularly, allowing competitors to age irrelevantly while improving and replacing competitors on a regular basis. Taurus, Escape and Rangers all led the segment for years, then reduced due to inaction in management.

The F-Series Pickup is the only product that Ford Management maintains an alternative to a strict schedule and asserts clear leadership on measurable standards. Results: 48 years of truck sales leadership.

I hope that the team dispatched to Long Beach, California did it in the office where Ford developed the new EV, but that doesn’t matter unless Ford’s leader changes his approach to creating vehicles and staying competitive.

Otherwise, it’s only a matter of time before Ford is searching for another magic bullet, rather than unfolding a steady stream of first-class cars.

Jane Goodall, the iconic wildlife conservationist, dies at age 91

The legendary chimpanzee researcher Jane Goodall has passed away. The conservation organization she founded was announced on October 1st.

Goodall, 91, died of natural causes when she was in California, according to the Jane Goodall Institute.

“Dr. Goodall’s discoveries as an ethologist revolutionized science, and she was a tireless advocate for the protection and recovery of our natural world,” the institute said in a statement on social media.

British ethologists – scientists studying animal behavior in habitats – did not receive formal training when they set out to study chimpanzees that would become Gombestream National Park in Tanzania, Africa, in the early 1960s. She thanked some of the National Geographic documentaries on her fieldwork and used the status of science celebrity to promote conservation efforts for chimpanzees and other endangered species through her foundation of the same name.

“We are a part of it and passionately cares about the natural world we depend on, and I love it.

Who was Jane Goodall?

Born in London, England in 1934, Goodall was fascinated by animals in his youth. In 1957 she traveled to Kenya, where she met the British paleontologist and archaeologist Louis Leakey.

Goodall became his secretary and eventually joined a field expedition studying chimpanzees on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Gombe National Park, Tanzania, East Africa.

There she used grass stalks to observe chimpanzees and pull termites from the food mound. It said that it shattered the mainstream scientific belief that only humans created and used tools, “is considered one of the greatest achievements of 20th century scholarships.”

The National Geographic Society funded the study of Goodall’s chimpanzees and documented her efforts along photographer Hugo Van Rooke. Goodall and Van Lawick later married in March 1964, and the 1965 documentary “Miss Goodall and the Wild Chimpanzees” attracted an estimated 25 million viewers in North America with its first broadcast on CBS.

The couple had one Hugo Eric Louis Van Lawick, known as “Grub,” and divorced in 1974. In 1975 she married Derek Bryceson, who died in 1980.

Goodall, a messenger of UN peace, was appointed to the British Empire dam in 2003 and was awarded the US Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2025.

Goodall” has tirelessly worked for our planet and all its inhabitants, leaving an extraordinary legacy for humanity and nature,” the United Nations said in a post on social media mourning her death.

Jane Goodall spent her life and focused on studying chimpanzees

Goodall has published over 30 books, appeared in more documentaries, and continues to expand his research on chimpanzees.

After receiving the prestigious Templeton Award in 2021, awarded to celebrities such as Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama and South Africa’s Archbishop Desmond Tutu from 1972, Goodall told USA Today from the home where she lived that she was “never planned” to grow up and become such an iconic figure.

“There are basically two Janes, this is the one I’m talking to you right now, sitting here and looking at my childhood, the other one is there.

“I’ve come to the point of responding to what’s there, realizing that I’ve been given a gift and that I have to continue to make the most of my abilities,” added Goodall.

As a pioneer in her field, Goodall has set a path for many other women to follow in her footsteps, including the late Dianne Fossey and Birte Mary Gardica. The trio, who studied primates and counted Leakey as leaders, became known as the Trimeet or Leakey Angels.

Gardikas told USA Today that he was in a “absolute shock” over the news of Goodall’s death. She remembered her first meeting with Goodall in London over 50 years ago, and had been in contact over the years, often talking together and supporting each other’s work.

“What she did to protect her chimpanzees is extraordinary, so she was truly extraordinary,” Gardikas said. “She was an inspiration. It takes not only thousands, but perhaps millions. And her legacy will never die. Her legacy will last forever.”

In 1977, she founded the J-Good All Institute, continuing her long-term research on chimpanzees in Gombe, boosting the conservation efforts of other species around the world. Founded in 1991, the Roots & Shoots program involves young people in local efforts to protect animals and the environment.

“Every day we live, we have an impact on the world. Most of us have a choice of how we will affect us,” Goodall told Detroit Free Press, part of the USA Today network, during a conversation tour stop in September. “Hope is not a hopeful idea. I say to people, “Find what you can do in your community. Do that. Have your friends support you. Make sure you can make a difference. Know that other people like you are making a difference, all around the world, and others, like you, are making a difference.”

See deadlines for claiming a portion of $425 million in capital

0

play

Capital One has resolved a class action lawsuit filed against a bank holding company for allegedly frozen savings account fees for years, effectively banning customers from winning billions of dollars on interest payments.

A settlement means the capital the customer may repay for lost payments. The deadline for obtaining a portion of the $425 million settlement is Thursday, October 2nd.

Although agreed, the review is scheduled for hearing on November 6th, so it is awaiting court approval.

There is everything you need to know about some of the lawsuits and settlements.

Who sued Capital 1?

A $425 million settlement, derived from a class action lawsuit filed in the US federal court in Alexandria, Virginia against client capital in 2024, has been filed in the US federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, according to a notice obtained by USA Today. Earlier this year, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) also sued Capital One, claiming that the company had frozen that rate over the years despite rising national rates. As a result, customers were fooled from losses in interest payments of more than $2 billion, according to CFPB.

In a statement on January 14, the CFPB said Capital One will sell 360 savings accounts as “high interest” at variable rates, which are “one of the country’s best,” and consumers will earn significantly higher interest than average savings or money market accounts. The CFPB described these expressions as “false or misleading.”

The CFPB dropped the lawsuit in February, but Capital One agreed to pay a $425 million settlement for an individual class action lawsuit filed in 2024.

CFPB and customers were not the only customers suing Capital 1. This is because attorney general Letitia James complained in May that “misleading the interest rates received by customers in online savings accounts and that banks can avoid paying the high interest rates they have promised to customers.”

On Wednesday, September 24th, James announced that he had led a bipartisan coalition of 17 other attorney generals in opposition to the proposed $425 million class action settlement.

On September 24, James and the Coalition filed a document providing the court with additional information, arguments or expertise that the parties involved in the case may not otherwise provide. The document “urges the court to argue that it is not liable, and will make the customer’s sacrifice to the customer to not approve the $425 million settlement.”

USA Today contacted Capital One on Wednesday, October 1st, but there was no response.

Why is Capital accused?

The lawsuit filed against Capital One accused 360 savings accounts of marketing as “high profit” accounts with “one of the country’s highest savings rates.” The account claimed that it would “have more customers than average savings accounts.”

However, the Attorney General, Customers and the CFPB claim that while interest rates have risen nationwide, Capital One is artificially keeping interest rates on its 360 savings accounts low.

The company is also accused of creating 360 performance savings. This is a different type of savings account that offered 14 times higher interest rates at some point.

Capital One is said to have spent more than $2 billion in interest payments on its customers.

What are the conditions for the settlement?

Customers who held a Capital One 360 savings account between September 18, 2019 and June 16, 2025 will be subject to a portion of the settlement.

According to the Capital One Settlement website, no billing form is required to receive payments. All payment classes members are automatically entitled to receive their class cash payments.

Members may choose to receive payments electronically in place of checks.

How much money will the claimant receive?

According to a news release of the settlement, the $425 million settlement will be split into a $300 million cash settlement fund that will be used to make cash payments to all 360 savings account holders in connection with account balances. $125 million to “used to be used to increase interest in the future for customers who continue to maintain 360 savings accounts.”

Customers who have already closed 360 savings, or who have chosen to close before October 2, will receive a class of cash payments estimated to be around 15% greater than if their accounts remain open.

Customers can close their accounts even after receiving larger payments.

The deadline for choosing your payment method is Thursday, October 2nd.

What happens if we don’t accept a settlement?

The customer may choose to exclude himself from the settlement. That option allows them to individually appeal for capital at their own costs. Choosing to opt out means that the client will not receive payments from the Settlement Fund.

Large feeding firing starts from “one or two.”

WASHINGTON – Russell Vought, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, told House Republicans in a private call on Oct. 1 that if government shutdowns continue, a massive federal workers layoffs will begin with “a day or two.”

Vought’s timeline for “forced cuts” of federal workers began in the middle of the night on October 1st as President Donald Trump warned Democrats that it could eliminate “a huge number” of federal workers under government shutdowns.

White House spokesman Caroline Leavitt did not detail which federal departments could be affected or how many workers would be fired during a briefing with reporters. However, she said the layoffs were “immediate.”

Leavitt said Trump has directed the OMB to work with the agency to identify where the cuts can be made. “Unfortunately, they are the result of this government closure,” she said, but she stopped providing an exact deadline. “Two days, immediate,” Levitt said.

Historically, nonessential federal workers have been placed in fur during government shutdowns, but they are not part of a widespread federal workforce layoff. Trump also said he may use government closures to eliminate federal programs he opposes. “Many profits can get off the closure,” Trump said on September 30.

Trump’s threat comes after his administration fired tens of thousands of federal workers already as part of the Department of Government Efficiency efforts to reduce the federal government.

On the first day of the shutdown, Vought announced plans to freeze federal funds allocated to the infrastructure project in New York, home to Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer. Vought said the expansion of New York City’s second Avenue subway and funding for the Hudson River Railroad Tunnel was suspended “to prevent funds from flowing under the unconstitutional DEI principles.”

He later announced that the Trump administration had cancelled $8 billion with “green new fraud funds” for projects in 16 democratically-led states.

It’s official. The United States is shut down after Congressional members failed to reach an agreement to maintain federal operations.

The effects of shutdowns usually tend to vary widely. But we are not in the age of “typical” politics. President Donald Trump has already pledged to step up Republican efforts to reduce government through staff layoffs.

But today we want to ask readers of USA Today’s opinion questions about our fearless leaders answering and stumbling on themselves. Join our latest forums and ask for the opportunity to use your comments in your follow-up posts.

Who will you blame for the shutdown?

Why do you think the government was closed today?

Republicans who control the entire government will say they are responsible because Congressional Democrats have decided to take their positions to protect health care.

Democrats will probably say there is no way to deal with GOP.

What do you say? Please see the poll below or email forum@usatoday.com with the subject “Forum Government Closure.” Let’s start with a few questions:

  • Are you worried about the government shutdown? Why or why?
  • Which political party do you blame?
  • Do you think our elected leaders will ultimately work together?
  • If you’re a Republican, do you agree with how the GOP handled this?
  • If you’re a Democrat, would you like your party leaders to vote to prevent the closure?

ChatGpt offers suspicious advice. My parents eat it.

0

“Is my child hitting a developmental milestone?” “What should I do if my child has a fever?” “How can I handle my toddler’s tantrums?”

“Am I a good parent?”

These are some of the top questions parents ask ChatGpt, according to Artificial Intelligence Tools by Openai.

Research suggests that more parents are increasingly dependent on artificial intelligence or AI for a wide range of parenting questions about health, education and behavior, among other topics.

A report published in the Journal of Pediatric Psychology showed that a September 2024 survey could not distinguish between differences in responses written by a healthcare professional or ChatGPT when asking questions about medical care. Researchers found that when parents differ from those written by experts, they tend to believe that their responses are more reliable, accurate and reliable.

AI is great for some of the time-consuming tasks that come with modern parenting, but Dr. Michael Grazier, Chief Medical Officer at Bluebird Kids Health in Broward County, Florida, said parents should always use AI with a “critical eye.”

“It’s a tool, it’s incredible and it’s more extensive,” he said. “But don’t let us replace critical thinking. As parents, there is a lot of benefit to us simply thinking about things and consulting with experts and connecting them to a computer.”

As parents take on birthday parties, school functions, projects, extracurricular activities and other responsibilities, modern parenting is becoming more demanding. This could brighten up AI, experts said.

Parents can use this technology to create birthday invitations, chore schedules, new dinner recipes, calendars, to-do lists, arts and crafts, original bedtime stories, holiday itineraries and more.

“If you make a mistake, it’s not that expensive, so all of these things are very useful,” Grazier said.

Parents can also use AI as a starting point for medical information, he said. This technology may draw research from sources such as medical journals and organizations, and parents may have difficulty finding it for themselves.

However, he urges his parents to consult a health expert about what they find and avoid acting on medical advice produced by AI.

“Sometimes, parents come in and say, ‘I did all my research and now I don’t know what to do, can you help me?”,” Glazier said. “It’s not a bad place because you can look into what they find.”

Regarding medical advice, AI and parenting experts Klaudia and Grant McDonald said they should be wary of the sensitive medical information parents are entering into AI chats. The couple developed a mobile application called Bobo, which uses AI to generate validated information about parents’ childhood health and development.

“Most parents dump personal sensitive information on ChatGpt without considering the sensitive information they provide to large companies,” Grant said. In the mobile app, “Data is not leaving the platform.”

According to Klaudia, parents need to be careful about how they write their questions, as AI can become “echo chambers.” The main question is that technology can generate answers that you think you want but may not be completely accurate.

“It’s easy to lead AI in how you’re phrased,” Claudia said. “You need to be specific and objective in how you write the prompt.”

The company is said to have used hidden agent fees

0

play

Zillow, one of the nation’s leading real estate companies, is facing a class action lawsuit that allegedly plagues consumers to use agents affiliated with Zillow through the Flex and Premier Agents program, with committees and home prices rising.

In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington on September 19, plaintiffs from Alucard Taylor said they used an agent affiliated with Girow to buy the home in Portland, Oregon in July 2022.

According to the complaint, Taylor assumed he was contacting the property’s listing agent by clicking the “Contact Agent” button next to the list he was interested in. Instead, he said he was connected to an agent belonging to Zillow.

The lawsuit alleges that consumers are being directed to sign a tour deal for Zillow after connecting with agents associated with Zillow. According to Zillow’s website, this is a 7-day non-exclusive agreement.

“The “tour agreement” promises the buyer that the agent’s services are “free,” but this is deceptive and untrue. If the sale passes, the buyer’s agent will still receive a fee,” Filing said. “In addition, if the agent belonging to Zillow is a ‘Flex’ agent, he or she must pay Zillow up to 40% of the agent’s fee. This reduction in this committee will not be disclosed to buyers or sellers as there were no services related to real estate sales. ”

If a buyer is directed at a real estate listing agent in place of an agent affiliated with Zillow, the lawsuit argues that the buyer is in a position to negotiate a lower purchase price, as the seller does not have to pay a fee to the seller’s agent and the buyer’s agent.

The complaint argues that agents affiliated with Zillow are encouraged to prioritize receiving full fees because they “have no practical flexibility in negotiations with lower committees” because they effectively receive a 1% fee after paying Zillow fees and committees to the company.

“Sellers are persistent in paying a 6% commission (or more) because the buyer’s flex agent receives such a small amount in return, which increases the purchase price of the buyer’s home,” Filing said. “The Zillow scheme has the intention and effect of maintaining high and inflexible fees illegally that increase the prices that buyers have to pay.”

The complaint further argues Zillow’s listing policy, which requires that household listings be entered into MLS within one business day of being sold to appear on Zillow, claiming that “Zillow continues to increase its market control, inflates the unfairly acquired profits that Zillow receives from deceitful conduct.”

The lawsuit alleges that Zillow’s practices violate the Washington Consumer Protection Act and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act. And it is said that the company is profiting from hidden fees.

The lawsuit is represented by agents affiliated with Zillow on behalf of all US consumers who purchased the home listed on Zillow during September 19, 2021. We demand damages, disgust of Zillow’s interests and injunctive relief to prevent Zillow from continuing these practices.

The photo shows the impact of the ongoing government closure

After Congress failed to reach a funding agreement, the US government closed in the middle of the night on October 1st, and it seemed like there was no end.

The closure is the 15th since 1981, with Republicans and Democrats blaming each other for not reaching the deal in time.

The looming fundraising fight is also a threat to massive layoffs, with both President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance saying that a “huge number” of federal workers could end during the closure.

Photos took the scene as the closure hit several federal offices and national landmarks, like the Washington Monument, while the closure hits several federal offices and national landmarks.

Jimmy Fallon says “Tonight’s Show” isn’t “that politics.”

0

play

Jimmy Fallon maintains his “head” in “The Tonight Show.”

The late-night host spoke with CNBC about his political role on the show after the drama surrounding Jimmy Kimmel’s controversial suspension at ABC.

“Our show wasn’t really political,” Fallon said of CNBC’s “square work on the street.” “We try to hit both sides equally and make everyone laugh. That’s how our show really works. Our monologue is the same as what we did because Johnny Carson was doing ‘The Tonight Show’. ”

The comedian said, “Really, bow your head and make sure the jokes are funny. There are great writers, smart, smart writers.

Fallon’s comments come after Kimmel was temporarily suspended after facing pressure from the Federal Communications Commission over what he made about the murder of Charlie Kirk. President Donald Trump responded to Kimmel’s suspension by urging NBC to fire Fallon and “Late Night” host Seth Myers.

“Kimmel has zero talent and if that’s possible, he has a worse rating than Colbert,” Trump wrote in a post on True Society on September 17th. “It leaves two total losers, Jimmy and Seth, on fake news NBC. Their ratings are scary too. That’s nbc!!!”

Trump had previously been targeting Fallon after CBS cancelled “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in July.

“The words, and that’s what it’s a strong word. Jimmy Kimmel’s neighbors go to a serious late-night sweepstakes and Fallon will go away shortly after,” Trump posted on July 22.

Fallon has been hosting “The Tonight Show” since 2014, and is generally considered to be the least politically unpolitical of the major late-night hosts.

In September 2016, he received backlash from an interview with Trump. He then playfully ruined the candidate’s hair in “The Tonight Show,” a Republican candidate in the presidential election. Critics on the left blamed Fallon and argued that he was helping Trump to show up and normalize, claiming that the interview was an overly advantageous for him. Fallon later told the New York Times that he was “devastated” by the backlash. “I didn’t do that to humanize him,” he said, “I was just having fun.”

But Fallon also doesn’t avoid teasing Trump on his show. In his monologue after winning the president’s 2024 election, he said, “America has decided to go back to a crazy old man.”

Fans shared Kimmel’s support after ABC hosts were temporarily suspended saying that Trump supporters were trying to characterize the suspect who murdered conservative activist Charlie Kirk as “something other than them.”

In a monologue on “Tonight’s Show” on September 18th, Fallon described Kimmel as “a decent, funny, loving man,” adding, “I hope he comes back.” The comedian continued to address concerns that his show would be censored and vowed to continue covering Trump “as I would normally do.” This replaced Fallon’s comments about Trump with narration, offering over-the-top praise to the president, setting a bit of a set to declare him “incredibly handsome.”

Boston Hotel workers enter fourth week of contract dispute

play

For four consecutive weeks, hotel workers in Boston left their jobs to attack for better working conditions.

The Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapters, national labor unions representing hotel workers, announced the start of the strike in the first week of September.

There have been three waves of hotel workers strikes in Boston since September 1, when four hotel workers took them to the Pickett Line over Labor Day weekend. Since then, additional workers have performed a limited three-day strike at four more Boston hotels, bringing a total of eight, showing a second labor action.

As of October 1, the indefinite stage of the strike, which began on September 25th, currently includes four hotels.

Here’s what you need to know.

Which Boston hotels will be affected by workers’ strikes?

The hotels currently being affected by the ongoing suspension are:

  • Omni Parker House
  • Omni Boston Hotels in Seaport
  • Hilton Boston Logan Airport
  • Hilton Boston Park Plaza

Why are workers at Boston hotels on strike?

Uniting here, he said workers are looking for higher wages, better staffing and workloads and a reversal of cuts in the COVID era. Here Unite is currently organizing a workforce with hotel workers in Houston, Texas.

“I work full time here, and sometimes I work overtime. But I still had to get a second job so I could pay my mortgage and other monthly bills,” Kaba Kamara, a housekeeper attendant at Omni Boston Seaport Hotel, said in a statement.

“The issue of strikes in all cities remains open and negotiations are ongoing,” Unite said in a statement.

In a statement, Omni said hotels in Boston that are involved in the strike are still open and services will not be suspended.

“With respect for all parties, Omni will not comment on the status of the negotiations, except that he continues to commit to negotiate in good faith to reach an agreement that agrees with all parties,” the statement said.

Amid government closure, DC will suspend issuance of marriage licenses

0

play

Sorry, Lovebird, wedding bells may be ringing, but it may not be in Washington, DC during government shutdowns.

Government closures affect many aspects of daily life, but one unexpected place is the marriage sector.

During the closure, the Marriage Bureau, which is part of the DC Superior Court, will stop issuing marriage licenses and ceremonies, according to a message on the Columbia Special Court website. However, the Marriage Bureau can still issue certified copies of important records, such as marriage certificates.

The Special Court of Columbia consists of the DC Superior Court and the DC Court of Appeal.

The District Court of Columbia will continue to “continue litigation resolutions in all departments and superior court family courts and appeal in the court of appeal,” the message said. “The juvenile probation services provided by the social services department will continue.”

Here’s what you need to know about getting married in Washington, DC during the government shutdown:

Why can’t I issue a marriage license during the government closure in DC?

According to the Columbia Special Court closure plan updated on September 25th, the court will be limited to functions deemed “necessary to continue the resolution of the case without interruption.”

Unfortunately, for the newlyweds soon, the court does not consider the wedding to be an important service.

“The issuance of marriage licenses and wedding gifts will be suspended during the expiration,” the closure plan said.

Why is marriage licenses only affected in DC?

DC is unique as its courts and local governments are federally funded. Other U.S. cities are funded through state and local taxes, so marriage licenses may continue to be issued amid federal closures.

What is the alternative?

If you and your upcoming spouse are planning to marry during the closure, there are alternatives.

According to a post on the American Marriage Ministries (AMM) website, if you plan to marry a judge or court, those weddings must be postponed. However, the Minister will still be able to preside over the ceremony, just like AMM’s.

Happy couple friends and family can also be appointed online and hosted the wedding.

The wedding can still be hosted, but the couple’s marriage licenses will not be dealt with during the government closure.

Acts of Love: Temporary Acts Passed during the 2019 Shutdown

During the previous closure in 2019, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser signed, “Let Our Vows can withstand the 2019 emergency law,” according to the Mayor’s Office of Enforcement.

The act allowed the mayor to issue a marriage license and approve officers during partial closures.

But it was a temporary measure and, according to local news radio station Wamu, it still requires new actions to be allowed for the same to happen.

How about the wedding venue?

If a couple chooses a venue on a federally funded site, such as a park or museum, the venue may not operate during government closures. This applies not only to DC, but also to sites managed by the federal government around the country.

Can a DC couple still get divorced during government shutdown?

On the other side of the spectrum is divorce, but it is possible that the couple who quickly lost their eye are not thinking about it.

But yes, the couple could still divorce during the government shutdown, Wam reported.

The fear of DOJ’s politicization culminates in Comey’s criminal charges

0

“It’s back to weaponizing attacks and accusations on McCarthyism and Communism, and calling for red horrors to silence people,” said California Attorney General Rob Bonta.

play

The criminal charges against former FBI director James Comey, who came days later on behalf of longtime prosecutors who decided to seek accusations with his trusty aide, raised concerns about the Justice Department’s politicization on a hot pitch.

“That’s what we see in an authoritarian regime, something the Trump administration has done from day one to almost the first day, to use the power of criminal prosecution to punish those who feel disgusted or reward those who are positive.”

The Federal University Ju Court approved on September 25, accusing them of lying to Congress on September 25, and obstructing Congress’ lawsuit on September 30, 2020. He allegedly testified at a Congressional hearing that he did not allow the FBI to leak anonymous information about an investigation into the media. In 2017, Trump fired Comey, who was in charge of investigating contacts between the Russian government and the 2016 Trump campaign.

Just five days before the indictment, with the charges approaching and the five-year deadline approaching, Trump posted on social media that Comey was “guilty as hell” and that delays were not an option.

The post has pioneered fears that Trump’s last-minute installation of an aide with no prosecutor’s experience, Lindsay Harrigan, who quickly sought accusations against Comey, and his history of threatening political enemies with prosecution has prompted the fear that the Justice Department’s revenge-filled independence from the White House has been rushing to erode.

“This is extremely dangerous,” former George W. Bush White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter told USA Today. “We don’t have political prosecutions. That’s not a way to do things in democracy.”

Comey vowed in a video statement to protect his innocence.

“My heart is broken for the Department of Justice, but I have great confidence in the federal justice system,” he said in a video posted to Instagram. “I’m innocent, so let’s go to court and maintain the faith that my family and I have known for years.”

The Trump administration claims that previous administrations did the same thing.

Trump was criminally charged by the Justice Department under President Joe Biden, who allegedly conspired to steal the 2020 election, and falsely sued the misclassified documents. These cases were brought by special prosecutor Jack Smith. Jack Smith was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to ensure the independence of the usual investigation. Both cases were dropped after Trump won the 2024 election.

The president celebrated Comey’s indictment on social media as “American Justice!” Attorney General Pam Bondy posted on social media that it reflected her department’s “commitment to taking responsibility for misleading Americans by those who abuse their positions of power.”

In a statement to USA Today, the Department of Justice defended itself against accusations of politicization.

“Unlike weaponization over the past four years, the Department of Justice is focusing on prosecuting violent crimes, securing borders, taking fatal fentanyl on the streets and making America safe again.”

The White House said in a statement to USA Today that the Trump administration is providing truth to the public and restoring integrity to the judicial system.

“It is ultimate hypocrisy to blame President Trump for being active through his presidency. He is engaged in the law against his political opponents. The charges against Comey by the Great Jue speak for itself, and the Trump administration is looking forward to fair proceedings in court.

DOJ targeting Trump’s enemies

The indictment against Comey is not clear as to what statement the Congressional statement landed in Hot Spring. The Federal Ju Court decides whether to indict the prosecution after a typical one-sided process in which the prosecutor can present witnesses and evidence. The Federal Jury almost always votes to indict him. The big ju judge voted to indict Comey on two of the three proposed charges.

Comey’s indictment follows a series of statements or actions from Trump by his political appointees who targeted his critics and those who investigated him.

In August, the FBI stormed the home and office of John Bolton, the national security adviser of Trump’s first presidential administration, but since then he said he was unsuitable for his job. The raid follows Trump’s move on his first inauguration day in January to withdraw Bolton’s Secret Service protections, despite the Justice Department’s charges claiming that security officials from the Iranian Revolution were seeking a hitman to execute Bolton.

Trump’s Justice Department has also launched an investigation into whether New York Attorney General Letitia James committed a mortgage fraud. The same longtime prosecutor who decided on the charges is reportedly not justified by Eric Siebert in Comey’s case. The Justice Department also declined to comment on whether it would seek accusations against James.

Jack Smith, the special prosecutor who led the federal criminal case against Trump, is also being targeted. Trump’s appointee, led by US special advisor Jamieson Greer, led an investigation into Smith’s conduct in the Trump incident. Smith’s lawyer said in August that the investigation was “partisan” and should be removed.

Fani Willis, an Atlanta district lawyer who led the charges against Trump before she was fired for romantic relationships or travelled with another prosecutor, according to the New York Times. It said it had reviewed the federal ju judge’s subpoena seeking records of Willis’ travel history.

The Justice Department has also launched a mortgage fraud investigation into Sen. Adam Schiff, a Democrat of California. Adam Schiff took part in a Congressional investigation into the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol by Trump supporters. In a September 20 social media post addressed to Bondi, Trump said Schiff, in addition to Leticia James and James Comey, is also guilty of an unspecified crime.

At her nomination hearing, several Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats raised concerns about Trump trying to direct Trump towards his will, so Bondi testified that “there will never be a list of enemies within the Department of Justice” and that “politics will not play a role in the DOJ investigation and case of her leadership.”

Trump stocks several of his former lawyers with the Justice Department. Bondi defended him as president in his first blast each trial. Harrigan represented him in a lawsuit over an investigation into the handling of the documents he was classified. He chose three of his personal criminal defense lawyers, Todd Blanche, Emile Bove and Alina Haba, for his well-known Justice Department work this year, but Bove and Haba’s roles have changed.

Trump says justice has been weaponized against him

Trump and some of his allies say they are using the Justice Department to target his enemies.

In his September 20 social media post, James, Comey and Schiff called for charges, saying, “They each twice and indicted me (five times!).” Trump was actually indicted four times, and none of these three individuals were charged. Schiff played a leadership role in both Trump’s bounce each, and James filed a major civil suit against him.

Trump may have a “point measure,” the painter said he would analyze the incident against him and what others faced. For the painter, Biden should have also been responsible for misinterpreting the classified documents, but he believes the allegations against Biden are less severe than those against Trump. However, the painter emphasized that he does not believe any of the federal cases faced by Trump were political prosecutions.

“That doesn’t justify what’s going on right now,” Painter said.

New Jersey Attorney General Platkin said the incident against Trump is very different from what’s happening now. Career prosecutor Smith has been appointed to lead the Trump investigation under Department of Justice regulations designed to protect against political interference.

“The idea that we’re talking about two aspects of the same coin and that the Trump administration is doing or doing the same thing that was done in the Biden administration is ridiculous,” Platkin said.

“They use it as an excuse to use the full power of the US judicial system to take incredibly inappropriate behavior against their political opponents,” he added.

Bend justice to like friends?

In addition to targeting the president’s enemy, Trump’s Justice Department has taken steps to help those who may help Trump’s administration.

One of the most prominent examples came early in the year when the department dropped its bribery lawsuit against New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Bove, a former Trump personal attorney who worked as a top DOJ official, said the case distracted Adams from focusing on immigration and crime. Several prosecutors resigned in protest.

According to a report by MSNBC and The New York Times, the Justice Department has also stopped investigating Tom Homan, the Trump Border Border Border Border, who was investigating a variety of potential crimes, including bribery. Investigators allegedly caught Homan, who accepts $50,000 in cash, after suggesting that executives could help secret agents in their second Trump term.

Both reported that when Homan was allegedly received the cash, they discussed internally whether the charges were appropriate given that Homan was not an employee of the government. In a statement following the report, Trump administration officials said the evidence did not support the charges and claimed the investigation was political.

Both Homan and Adams maintain their innocence.

Barbara McCade, who served as a US lawyer for the Eastern District of Michigan during the Obama administration, told USA Today that giving Homan or Adams a break for political or personal reasons would be a “breach of the rule of law.”

“We are all equal before the law. If we break the law, we should expect to be treated equally,” McQuade said.

Will it erode the boundary between the DOJ and the White House?

One of the Department of Justice’s main policies to avoid political interference is prohibiting prosecutors from being influenced by a decision to seek accusations by a defendant “political association, activity or belief.” Critics of the Trump administration say Comey’s indictment raises doubts whether the department follows its policies within its own judicial manual.

Trump’s Justice Department has also officially moved to undermine the boundaries of communication between itself and the White House, according to a February report by The Washington Post. This reviewed a new memo specifying that Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and their lawyers are permitted to start conversations with the DOJ about certain criminal and civil cases and investigations.

Trump’s September 20th post alone made him speak directly to Bondi and asks prosecutors to pursue the charges against James, Schiff and Comey. He was directly overwhelmed by the decision to charge.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta, a Democrat, told USA that the US president should not be involved in using the US Department of Justice or the FBI for political prosecutors.

“It goes back to weaponizing the attacks and accusations on McCarthyism and Communism, and weaponizing the attacks and accusations in order to silence people, harm people, and chase political opponents,” Bonta added.

Ford Rone Detroit Lions Rookie A 2025 F-150 Lightning Stimulates EV Buzz

Ford Motor Co. is taking advantage of the NFL moments to get both excellent marketing and not disrupt Detroit Lion wide receiver Isaac Teslaa.

Because the Ford Family owns Ford Motor Co. and owns the Lion, the automaker has decided to give the wide receiver a new silver all-electric 2025 F-150 lightning bolt. On Monday, Ford spokesman Dan Barbossa said the vehicle was merely a loan as part of Teslaa’s “ambassador” with the company.

Barbossa said, “Teslaa’s electric NFL debut has attracted everyone’s attention. Even Ford makes sure that, despite his last name, Teslaa’s wheels are definitely Ford.”

Ford delivered his new vehicle to Teslaa over the weekend, and in a statement to the Free Press ahead of his game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, September 28th, he was part of the Lions and said his connection with Ford would make his dream come true.

“I was excited when Ford approached me,” Teslaa said. “Growing up, I always dreamed of playing at Ford Field.

“I’ve been a Ford fan for the rest of my life. I’m excited to drive a new F-150 lightning bolt. I’m excited to continue chasing this dream and see where I’m taking it.”

Teslaa has an incredible start to the season, making two amazing one-handed catches in their first two NFL games.

The Detroit Lions are run by Sheila Ford Hamp, a sister to Billford, the executive chair of Ford Motor Corporation. His father, William Clayford Sr., bought the team in 1963.

Barbossa said Teslaa received the Platinum Edition Lightning. This starts at $84,995, according to the Ford website. In addition to the extended range battery and dual motors for high performance, Nirvana leather seats, Bang & Olufsen sound system and panoramic moon roof are standard equipment. This includes Ford’s Hands-Free Blue Cruise Driving System and its onboard Pro Power. You can turn your vehicle into a mobile generator.

Last month, Ford presented the New York Mets baseman Pete Alonso with a new F-150, admitting to breaking the New York Mets’ home run record with 253 career home runs. Daryl Strawberry held a long record with 252 home runs.

How long will the shutdown last? The council doesn’t know.

0

Even members of Congress don’t know what it takes to back up the government.

play

WASHINGTON – Democrats don’t know how long the government shutdown will last a day ago. They say they are talking to Republicans.

Ask Republicans and they point their fingers to the Democrats. According to the GOP leaders, they have leverage to get the lights back in Washington.

What about Vice President JD Vance? He believes the shutdown could soon be over. But it’s a “pure guess.”

This is the uncertain reality of the first government shutdown of seven years, and the partisan atmosphere in Washington after lawmakers plunged the country into the latest chapter of political dysfunction.

Asked to estimate the potential length of the shutdown, Senator D-Delaware and Senator D-Delaware told USA Today he “don’t think about it.”

Sen. Chris Murphy of D-Connecticut said, “I’ll ask Republicans.”

“The fact in question is that when Republicans become serious about talking to Democrats, the government opens up,” he said.

From national park staff to financial regulators, federal workers across the country are becoming intermittent, putting government services that Americans rely on at risk. Employees deemed “essential” like military enforcement and law enforcement will continue to work unpaid.

The longest government closure occurred between December 2018 and January 2019 during President Donald Trump’s first term in office. It lasted for 35 days and was heavily linked to a dispute over funding the tropical border wall.

Asked if the latest shutdown could get worse, Senator Richlorida told USA Today that he would create Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer’s.

“It’s up to Schumer,” he said. “Completely.”

Sen. Katie Britt, R-Alabama, said he hopes Democrats will “come to their senses sooner than later.”

Faced with pressure from voters, Senate Democrats have withheld their support as Republicans turn back Medicaid cuts, extend Obamacare Premium grants that expire at the end of the year, and upspending health insurance prices for millions of Americans.

Congress’ GOP leaders say these demands are non-stars. Sen. Thom Tilis of R-North Carolina said the closure will plow “as long as it takes Democrats to agree to fund the government.”

Republicans accused Democrats of pushing for expanding federal health funds to undocumented immigrants already prohibited by law.

“We don’t do a single statement, clause or comma in our bill,” Schumer told reporters on September 30.

To be precise, the fiscal crisis may depend on the extent of further layoffs in the federal workforce. Normally, the shutdown is only a quick Farrow where federal workers stay at work and receive a refund once the government reopens.

However, this shutdown is almost certainly different.

The Trump administration has already ousted thousands of federal workers out of the government and unilaterally cuts down due to programs the president hates. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said at a press conference on October 1 that more layoffs will arrive in just a few days.

At the same press conference, I heard that the Vice President is more confident than most lawmakers about the closure. In his mind, it will not be carried over indefinitely.

“I don’t think it’s going to be a long shutdown,” Vance said. “I think you’ve already seen some evidence that medium Democrats are cracking a bit.”

Keith Urban changes song homage to Nicole Kidman with a resurface clip

0

play

For most singers, switching lyrics is a trade trick. However, Keith Urban’s recent musical revisions take on new light following a split from his wife, Nicole Kidman.

The re-engraved concert clip of the Grammy-winning country singer, who performs his 2016 hit “The Fighter,” inspired by his relationship with Kidman, shows that Urban appears to have tweaked one of the song’s lyrics and removed the homage to Kidman.

In a clip shared by Urban’s utility player and country singer Maggie Beau in an Instagram post on September 27, Urban said, “When Trina reaches you, I’m ‘Trina’, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”

Filmed from Urban’s ninth album, “Ripcord,” “The Fighter,” was released in collaboration with fellow superstar Carrie Underwood. The song peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, and was later recognized as triple platinum.

Urban, who had been married to Kidman for nearly 20 years, opened on Billboard in a 2017 interview about how Kidman inspired his love song.

“It was all from a conversation early in our relationship with my wife and I. When things get tougher, I need to hold her tighter and try to take care of her,” Urban, 57 told the outlet. “This song is about wanting to heal someone, wanting to look after someone, protecting someone. That really seems like a vow in many ways.”

Keith Urban’s lyrics have been criticized during Nicole Kidman’s divorce

Urban’s lyrical switchers don’t hit the right chords.

Following news of Urban and Kidman’s divorce filing, fans have visited social media to criticize the alternative lyrics and suggest that they have denied Urban’s relationship with the Oscar-winning actress.

“Nicole is better,” wrote Instagram user @loosaratops, who commented, “Show me some Class Keith to make it better!”

“It’s so scary to do this to a song inspired by his wife,” @Smjake wrote. “It’s the ultimate quick.”

“Wow, that song was made for Nicole. He tells me what he really is for him to do that,” commented @femmigirz. “I just don’t like that.”

Why did Nicole Kidman’s Keith Urban get divorced?

Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on Tuesday, September 30, according to records from the Davidson County Circuit Court in Tennessee reviewed by USA Today. The filing came a day after news of the couple’s separation was released.

A Kidman complaint, signed on Monday, September 29th and signed by The Nashville Tennessean of the USA Today Network, confirmed that the two live in separate Nashville homes amid the split. The basis for divorce is “irreconcilable differences,” writes Kidman, 58.

Kidman also asked the court to name him “the primary housing parent for minor children.” Urban and Kidman are the parents of two daughters, Rose, 17, Sunday, and Faith Margaret, 14.

USA Today reached both Kidman and Urban representatives for comment.

Kidman and Urban first met in Los Angeles in 2005 and married more than a year later in Sydney, Australia. They celebrated their 19th anniversary on June 25th, 2025.

Compound gain is a retirement strategy that works while you sleep

0

Contrary to general assumptions, you don’t need a lot of money. It takes a lot of time and should be used as wisely as possible.

play

Does your monthly bill seem to have grown much more than your monthly income has over the past few years? If so, you are not alone. Wages are statistically catching up to the cost of living these days, but most people say that is certainly not the case. feel That’s how it is. There’s little money left these days, so saving something for retirement seems a bit pointless.

Don’t slip into that way of thinking! As long as you can do everything you can push here, towards your retirement and for the near future, everything you can push here will help you more than you realize. You will ultimately reach a point where it all becomes obviously worth it. This point is that it goes far beyond what it seems to be.

The good news is that once you reach this point, the growth fireworks really begin. This is proof.

Calculate some number of encouragement

No matter how great a stock picker you are, in reality, time is most work for most long-term investors. The more you give yourself, the better you exponentially. In the case of the outlook, assuming that it coincides with the S&P 500’s average annual net profit of 10% (dividend reinvestment), a $1 investment in today’s decade is worth $2.59, but it’s worth $6.73 in 20 years. And 30 years later, that dollar investment had grown to $17.45.

This seems a bit counterintuitive, but the numbers are correct. Will your money grow much faster and faster than before? That is the power of compound interest. The more money you make each year, the more money you work for you the following year. Ultimately, this growth seems to take a little more life on its own.

But what might this look like in more practical terms to you?

Again, let’s make the same assumption that it more or less matches the S&P 500’s average annual gain of 10%. Let’s just say this time, you’ll come up with a viable, modest total of $500 a month, or $6,000 a year for your retirement savings. As the graphics below show, by the end of the 10th year you’re sitting at about $105,000, of which $60,000 is your deposit savings. Hmm. However, by the end of the 20th year, the total total balance only reflects $120,000, total of $378,000. Thirty years later, you’re sitting at almost $1.1 million, of which only $180,000 is your total deposit. The remaining $906,000 reflects a net increase in donations worth $180,000 generated over this time.

Again, it is the power to get any worse or achieve more profits due to the ever-increasing amount of money you are working for you.

Your way of thinking is everything

Here are some important footnotes to add: One of them is the fact that although this prediction is mathematically correct, it does not take tax into account. If you’re saving for retirement with a Roth IRA, this really doesn’t matter. However, if the nest egg is in a normal IRA, it is almost certain that it will be taxed if it is withdrawn.

Also, be aware that this $1.1 million is not a relatively meaningful amount today in 30 years, due to inflation. Assuming an average annual inflation of 2.5%, 30 years from now, $1.1 million is actually only worth about half of today’s dollars.

Of course, the amount you can save on your income and retirement needs to grow in proportion to inflation, if not more. So don’t worry too much about this particular headwind.

Above all, it should be noted that the annual increase in annual investment took longer to exceed the $6,000 annual contribution. That wasn’t until the eighth year, and it was still barely possible. Next, be aware when most of the net growth actually comes here. Two-thirds of the total net profit of $906,000 was made in the last nine years of stretching over the last 30 years.

The thing is that you had to reach that 22nd year with as much retirement savings as possible. Even if it doesn’t seem that way back then, by then there’s already a significant multiplier effect in your favor. It wasn’t easy to see at the time.

The point is, don’t be so discouraged that you end up saving anything. This is how everyone who retires from a homemade billionaire from nothing other than their own investments. It’s very slow. They almost became billionaires as they continued to salvation and investment, even if it wasn’t easy (even if it was just nickel and dime). You must have been pretty disappointed at times too. But they enter the so-called “boom time” and ample retirement savings have already made the most of them. Even if you don’t feel like there are points, aim for the same thing. There is.

Many federal agencies, from the IRS to the National Park Service, were affected on Wednesday, the government shutdown on October 1.

The broad shutdown of federally supported programs and services continues until Congress passes the funding package. Federal employees who do not protect their jobs or property will be instructed to leave work for the time being.

As the deadlock between the Trump administration and Democrats continues to unfold in real time, there is something you need to know about the DMV situation during government shutdowns.

Will DMV be affected by government closures?

The operation of the DMV will not be affected by government closures.

According to the Legalclarity team, “primary ownership and operational management of the U.S. automotive sector is resident at the state level.” The automotive sector is also “primarily funded” through state budgets, and “often supplemented with fees collected for a variety of services.”

However, the federal government exerts influence through national standards and guidelines. Federal agencies such as the Department of Transport and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may establish requirements that state DMVs must meet, the Legalclarity team said.
